The work that 03:22 we do at ADRA Canada is 03:24 predominantly international, 03:27 but because of the recent 03:30 pandemic that has been taking 03:32 place in the country, we've 03:33 also started to really focus 03:35 on a domestic response as well. 03:39 When the pandemic 03:40 happened and we start seeing 03:42 different businesses shutting 03:43 down, it impacted us as well. 03:45 So we, in the middle of a 03:47 pandemic where things are 03:48 changing rapidly, we also went 03:51 through a transition where we 03:54 moved to virtual office. 03:55 So making that transition with 03:59 all the busyness that's going 04:00 on was quite significant for us. 04:04 What we did in Canada is 04:05 we've made funding available 04:08 for a granting process to be 04:10 able to have projects taking 04:12 place here in Canada to meet 04:14 the needs locally. 04:17 What this pandemic has done 04:18 is it's really increased the -- 04:22 it's magnified the 04:23 need in Canada 04:25 and poor are the most 04:29 vulnerable and unfortunately 04:31 here in Canada we've seen an 04:33 increase in need for food bank 04:35 assistance, especially food 04:38 security has been a real 04:39 challenge, on top of all of 04:41 the other challenges with 04:42 regards to rent and bill 04:44 payments and those sorts of 04:45 things. 04:47 >> So tell us about the Bible. 04:49 Does the Bible give you 04:50 guidance specifically in 04:52 dealing with this situation? 04:54 >> Absolutely. I think almost 04:57 any situation we go through 04:58 you can find some guidance in 04:59 the Bible and when I look at 05:02 the Bible and I think of the 05:05 leprosy that's identified in 05:06 the Bible and we see how when 05:09 someone came down with leprosy 05:11 back in Bible times, they were 05:12 sent out of the community. 05:13 So they had this real social 05:15 isolation that was taking 05:16 place where they were sent out 05:18 to another community where the 05:20 lepers were living and when 05:22 they walked through the 05:23 community they had to 05:24 yell out, "Unclean, unclean!" 05:26 People stayed away from them, 05:28 they didn't have that social 05:30 connection, they didn't have 05:31 the contact with their loved 05:32 ones anymore. 05:35 I don't think we have to 05:36 stretch our minds too 05:37 much to see that that's 05:38 certainly the situation that 05:41 we're living in here in Canada 05:42 now.
