00:20 Hello, and welcome to Jesus for Asia Now.
00:24 I'm Natalie Wood and I have Jon Wood 00:25 here with me on the show. 00:26 Hi, Darling. 00:27 And today, we get to talk about our orphanage in India. 00:31 Yes, well, we started out in 2007. 00:33 We've gone over with the team, six teams of to do evangelism 00:37 in six different places all at once. 00:38 And as we were wrapping up that evangelism, 00:41 we got a call from somebody that was running an orphanage, 00:44 but they were getting old 00:45 and they were losing their support. 00:47 They were looking for somebody to take over the orphanage 00:49 so they didn't have to put the kids 00:50 back out on the street. 00:51 And when you get a request like that, 00:52 what do you say? 00:54 No, just put them out on the street, 00:55 it's okay, it's like... 00:56 No, you don't say that. 00:58 So, we said, yeah, 01:00 we will assume the leadership of this orphanage 01:04 and it was a very small orphanage, 01:07 and it was rented building, 01:09 and very quickly the owner has decided to sell 01:13 the rented building. 01:14 And so we started looking for another building 01:15 that we could house the kids in, 01:19 and it was really hard to find a place 01:21 because people didn't want, number one, 01:24 a bunch of kids in their home, and number two, 01:26 bunch of Christian kids in their home. 01:29 We actually rented another place 01:31 and then the Hindu neighbors complained so much 01:33 about the children singing. 01:34 Yes. 01:35 And they sing at the top of their lungs, 01:37 so it is not quiet. 01:38 But I think it also disturbs the guards 01:41 that are in the area around 01:43 and our wonderful donors came to our aid 01:46 and helped us buy a cute little home. 01:49 But as you can see... 01:51 Look at those kids 01:52 and look at the size of their house. 01:55 The house is very small and the backyard is very small. 01:58 When we purchased it, 01:59 it didn't even have an operating toilet. 02:02 So we had to put in a well so they can have water, 02:05 we have to put in two toilets 02:08 and build another room on top of the house, 02:10 but even still when you go in that house, 02:12 it's very small and the kitchen, 02:14 there is no proper kitchen facility. 02:16 So you see that little hallway on the other side of that wall, 02:20 that's where they used to do their cooking, 02:22 and it was very improper. 02:23 Dark and... 02:25 So we started looking really hard 02:27 for a place out in the country, 02:30 and it's amazing because in India, 02:33 even though it's country with a lot of poverty, 02:35 the land is very expensive. 02:38 If you can imagine, 02:39 United States has just over 300 million people 02:43 where as India has 1.2 billion, 02:46 so we got four times a population 02:48 but only one third the land mass. 02:50 And so, it's very difficult to find property. 02:51 Land is at premium. Yes, very expensive. 02:54 But the Lord let us to a place that was being sold by a man 02:58 who had been a successful businessman 03:00 and was retiring and he wanted, his wife had passed away 03:04 and he wanted to spend his final days 03:06 around the bunch of kids. 03:08 And so he says, I'll sell it to you at this price. 03:11 And he was very patient with us paying for it 03:13 'cause he originally said, 03:14 you know, the total funds we do in three months 03:17 and it took us two years. 03:18 Yeah, he was very patient. 03:20 Very patient. 03:21 So would you like to meet the kids? 03:23 Yes. Awesome. 03:24 Let's do that. Awesome. 03:27 There are millions of orphans here in India, 03:30 but a few of them have found peace and safety 03:33 here at Bethel Children's Home. 03:36 Despite their traumatic and painful past, 03:40 these precious children are learning 03:41 that through Jesus, they can find healing, 03:45 peace and joy. 03:46 I know you're gonna love them just like I do. 04:20 Aren't they precious? Yeah, totally precious. 04:22 So when we got to the new orphanage, 04:25 we found that there were some challenges still. 04:29 There were some repairs that needed to be made 04:30 and there had been a drought, 04:31 ongoing drought for several years. 04:34 And so, there were challenges with water, having water there. 04:37 In fact, there was a 35 foot open well 04:42 that was there when we first purchased the property 04:43 and it started to go dry. 04:45 So then our donors gave and we were able to dig a well. 04:49 They call it a borewell there and it was, yeah, 04:52 925 feet down they went before they got water. 04:55 Yeah. 04:56 Well, it's actually just such a little bit of water 04:59 that it was basically dry. 05:00 Wasn't enough water to put a pump down 05:02 and really pump it and so we were like, 05:05 well, maybe we should dig in a different location. 05:07 But we decided to pray. Yeah. 05:09 And so we prayed here and the children there prayed 05:13 and what happened, Honey? 05:15 They tried again, they tested again 05:17 and there was water. 05:18 There was water in the well. But in that area... 05:20 It wasn't sweet water though, it was salty water. 05:23 In that whole area, they hardly ever get sweet water. 05:25 That's known for being very salty. 05:28 And they got salty water but they kept praying 05:30 and they kept praying 05:31 and the water got better and better, 05:33 and till now the people in the area are amazed 05:36 at how clean and beautiful and tasty that water really is. 05:40 Yeah, we have another testimony about that 05:41 we want to share the rest of it in a minute, 05:43 but the children also because of the draught, 05:46 nothing was able to grow, 05:48 and there is a large area in the orphanage. 05:49 In some of the pictures you can see that 05:52 where we can grow things. 05:53 You know, we can do agriculture and supply food 05:55 for the children there. 05:57 And so, we were trying to grow 05:58 but there was no water so we couldn't plant 06:02 and so there's no point in planting 06:03 if you don't have water. 06:05 And so, the children went up on the roof one evening 06:07 and they were praying together asking God for rain. 06:12 And before they could finish praying, 06:13 it started it total downpour and they had to run downstairs 06:16 and they were all soaking wet. 06:18 Yes. 06:19 Because the Lord had poured the windows of heaven. 06:20 And the people in the... 06:22 from the local village their testimony about the kids 06:26 and about the orphanage was... 06:28 That they knew that God was there. 06:30 Yeah. 06:31 Yes, in fact one of the local leaders in the area, 06:33 he is part of the government or something, local government, 06:36 he has lived there his whole life, 06:38 and he came one day to the orphanage 06:39 to meet with our director, 06:40 and someone brought him a glass of this water... 06:45 From the well. From the well. 06:46 And he drank it and, you know, 06:49 kept on with his conversation and didn't say anything, 06:52 and the gentleman that brought the water 06:53 was still standing there, 06:54 and he said, "Would you like more water." 06:56 And he said, "Well, yes, sure." 06:58 And so, he goes and gets him another glass 07:00 and he comments then on how good the water is. 07:03 And they said, "Where do you think 07:04 this water came from?" 07:06 He says, "Well, maybe you got it 07:08 from the government," 07:09 because they get water from the government. 07:12 No, maybe you bought the water 'cause you can buy water... 07:15 Bottled water. 07:16 Yeah, or they would bring it to you by truck or whatever, 07:19 and they said, "No, no. 07:21 Where did it come from?" 07:23 It came from our well out there. 07:25 And he said, "It has to be your God" 07:28 because the presence of the God is here, 07:30 because the children pray, and the rain comes, 07:33 and this water has turned good. 07:36 So it's a real testimony to God's provision. 07:39 Yeah, so here's a picture of the well, 07:42 it goes down 925 feet and it works. 07:44 Yes. 07:45 About 500 gallons per day from what I understand 07:48 you can get out of that well. 07:49 Yeah. It's very cool. 07:52 So we want to share some videos 07:53 about some of the specific children there. 07:56 The first one is Santos. 08:03 Hello, everyone. 08:06 Welcome. 08:07 He said welcome which means hello. 08:10 This is Santos and he is six years old, 08:15 the youngest of the boys here and... 08:21 Man, what can you say about this kid 08:23 other than the fact that 08:24 he just loves to smile all the time. 08:27 Look at him, look at him, look at him. 08:34 His parents... 08:35 Um, we don't know a lot of the story on them 08:37 because he doesn't have any family here to tell us, 08:39 but we suspect 08:41 because one of the cool things about Santos is that 08:44 he does everything with only the full use of one arm. 08:47 You can see his left arm here, it's little bit deformed, 08:49 but he does everything by himself with just one arm. 08:54 And I think that is probably... 08:57 Well, we think that is probably 08:58 why his parents did not want him 09:01 which we can't understand 09:02 why they wouldn't want to do that 09:04 because who wouldn't want this little guy. 09:05 Are you posing? Are you posing? 09:08 I appreciate you're posing right now. 09:09 When he grows up, he told me that 09:12 he wants to have a job when he grows up. 09:15 So maybe like next year I'll ask him, 09:16 what jobs specifically, 09:19 but for now he just wants to have a job 09:21 so that's a pretty good goal. 09:25 I mean it's where I'm being honest, 09:26 it's a really good goal, that's my goal too. 09:28 But, loves Jesus, loves people and loves to love other people. 09:33 He comes up sand kisses my arm all the time 09:35 just to show me how much he loves me. 09:38 Santos, I love you too. 09:43 Okay, we're gonna go and, but... 09:48 Here he is, okay, goodbye. 09:51 Say goodbye. 09:56 Say goodbye. He is more silent now. 09:59 But you can wave and smile, 10:01 that's all you need, right, just smile and wave. 10:04 Hello. 10:06 I want to introduce you 10:07 to another friend of mine, Kagendran. 10:11 Hello, everyone. My name is Kagendran. 10:13 Kagendran is... 10:15 How many years old, age? Twelve. 10:18 Twelve years old, right. 10:19 Rank A B. 10:21 B? Yes. 10:22 B rank in school. 10:24 I don't quite know what that means, 10:26 but I think that's sixth grade. 10:29 Kagendran is part of the older kids. 10:32 We have the younger kids who go to one school 10:33 and the older kids who go to another school, 10:35 but Kagendra goes to the older school 10:37 with those and walks everyday, and Kagendra has a big heart. 10:42 He is super helpful to all of the kids 10:43 that are around here, 10:44 and he loves to laugh, he loves to smile. 10:47 He is kind of shy right now, but also loves to play cricket. 10:51 And one of those little boys here is Santos 10:53 and sometimes he can't really help himself 10:55 and Kagendran always takes the initiative 10:58 to help that kid out when he needs to be cleaned 11:01 or wash his clothes or anything like that, 11:05 so just huge heart coming from this kid. 11:08 His dad was a drunk, 11:12 and ended up treating the children very, very poorly, 11:16 and actually tried to kill him sadly 11:20 which I can't imagine why anyone, 11:23 anyone in their right mind 11:25 wouldn't want to have this guy as a son, 11:27 but his dad felt that way, and so, unfortunately, 11:34 he doesn't know where his mom is now, 11:36 but... 11:39 He is dealing with that and he says 11:41 that he still feels pain in his head at night 11:45 because his dad tried to kill him with the rock 11:48 on the back of his head, and he still feels that pain, 11:49 and he still wakes up, 11:52 but despite all that pain that's going on inside of him, 11:54 I think that he's still very happy 11:56 and he has a love of Jesus in his heart 11:58 and he is gonna share that. 12:00 I think he wants to be pastor. 12:02 Pastor? Pastor? 12:07 Yes. Yes. 12:10 He wants to be a pastor when he grows up 12:11 and share all the love 12:13 that Jesus has given him to other people, 12:16 so I hope that he fall in love with him as much I have. 12:20 They're so precious. 12:23 You know, and they have such sad stories some of them, 12:26 but they still smile, 12:27 and they're still joyful and they still play. 12:30 And so, it's nice to see the healing 12:31 that Jesus can bring. 12:32 Yes. 12:33 When they're in a peaceful place 12:35 and they have people there that are loving them 12:36 and taking care of them. 12:38 That's right. So nice, okay. 12:41 The next one we want to see is a young lady name Keerthana, 12:45 and she's got a special... 12:47 We got a special testimony of her right afterward as well. 12:51 Hello, everyone. 12:52 Hello everyone. My name is Keerthana. 12:55 Welcome to India. 12:59 Keerthana, I have gone to get these kids from school 13:03 on a couple of occasions, and Keerthana, 13:05 if I'm a half a mile away, 13:08 I'm pretty sure she will spread the entire half a mile 13:11 just to come see us because she is that hospitable. 13:13 A loving little girl. 13:15 While she is not very little, 13:17 she is actually 15 years old, 15? 13:19 Yes. 13:20 And sadly her dad was a drunk, 13:24 and her mother and her father 13:27 both died as a result of illnesses 13:30 and so, she was brought here. 13:31 Today she have love with everybody 13:32 but her mom, I think had a few mental illnesses 13:36 so wasn't able to teach the kids. 13:38 And when Keerthana got here, 13:39 she wasn't able to say any memory verses. 13:42 Every week that they have memory verses, 13:43 she wasn't able to say any. 13:45 And now today, she got up 13:47 and did probably maybe eight or nine today. 13:50 Maybe eight or nine memory verses, 13:52 it was very, very impressive. 13:54 So she is learning very, very, very fast, 13:57 and she wants to be a doctor when she grows up, doctor? 14:02 Doctor. 14:03 She is going to make a great doctor 14:04 when she grows up, 14:05 and she will hold all her patients' hand 14:08 just to make them feel better. 14:08 I'm sure of that so... 14:18 See you later. 14:20 Okay, so that was Keerthana 14:22 and the video we want to share now with you 14:24 is a video of Keerthana 14:26 and a couple of other young people. 14:28 It's a story of how they witness 14:29 to one of their neighbors. 14:31 What you told me about this being a place of light. 14:33 I've already notice with the children 14:36 as I've talked to them. 14:37 The children shared the other day 14:40 about some of the children that approached to Hindu girl. 14:43 Could you tell us about that? 14:44 Yes, I was really excited to hear that story that day 14:48 when I was seated with you. 14:49 I was really inspired, 14:51 I was moved to see these young ones. 14:52 We teach them the Bible, the songs here, 14:54 but the impact what they've caught in them 14:58 to share with others, that was really amazing. 14:59 And they told us that day that they used to go by walk, 15:04 all the way from this orphanage, 15:05 from the home nearly about more than 15:07 two kilometers their school is, 15:09 so they pass by few villages, and you know, 15:12 everyday they go and they meet lot of people, 15:15 and fortunately they met Hindu girl who goes to college, 15:17 she is doing a college and they had that friendship. 15:22 And as days were passing by, 15:24 these children had an impression 15:25 that we should share Jesus, you know, 15:28 so they wrote on a paper about Jesus loves you. 15:31 Jesus is the true God, 15:32 and they took it and they gave it to her. 15:36 And they wrote a letter 15:37 because they don't have much time to spend with her, 15:39 and so they gave the letter, sister, please read it. 15:42 And she went through and she was amazed 15:44 and she said, can you tell me more about Jesus, 15:48 and they asked can we give a Bible to you. 15:50 She was really happy 15:51 so the last Thursday if I'm not mistaken, 15:53 they took a Bible but sister said, you know, 15:56 right now I'm busy with my exams. 15:59 As soon as the exam is over, I'll get your Bible 16:02 and I also want to be converted. 16:05 I want to accept this Jesus. 16:07 I love you children, 16:08 I know that the thing what you're talking about 16:11 is amazing, I'm inspired, I want to accept this Jesus. 16:15 Wonderful. 16:16 These children, they are just shining lights 16:20 and I'm also inspired. 16:22 Exactly, and I'm wanting more, they added to this, they said, 16:25 we are planning to write many more letters like this 16:29 about Jesus and take Xerox copy of it. 16:32 We're going to paste it on the walls. 16:36 And they said, on the wall it is written that 16:39 you cannot paste any bills on this 16:41 and the girls and the boys, they erased that 16:44 and they said we can paste bills on the wall 16:47 because they wanted to paste this thing, 16:49 I was thrilled and I was moved. 16:51 That is amazing. 16:52 This is what's beautiful about caring for orphans 16:56 is that it's not just humanitarian service, 17:01 but it's actually, it's actually evangelism, 17:06 powerful evangelism 17:07 because these kids are the ones that share, 17:08 the have a Hindu background. 17:11 They've come into the home, they've learned about Jesus, 17:12 they've seen Jesus love demonstrated, 17:16 they've experienced and felt it themselves 17:19 and it's such... 17:21 It's made such an impact on them 17:22 that they volunteer, they weren't asked to go 17:24 and share, but they just chose on their own to go and share. 17:29 Now, when these kids grow to be adults, 17:32 you know, what kind of testimony 17:33 they gonna have and so this is evangelism 24/7. 17:38 Right. Right. 17:40 It's very exciting. It's awesome. 17:41 It's really awesome. 17:42 Yeah, absolutely. 17:43 And so this next video that we have is actually 17:46 a video shot for Christmas but we included this 17:49 because it talks about each child says 17:52 what they're thankful for. 17:54 This Christmas, I'm thankful for Jesus. 17:59 This Christmas, I'm thankful for all my parents 18:02 at Bethel Children's Home. 18:05 This Christmas, I'm thankful to cricket. 18:14 I'm thankful for my brothers. 18:19 I'm thankful for my home. 18:22 This Christmas, I'm thankful for my sister. 18:25 I'm thankful for... 18:28 I'm thankful for my family. 18:35 I'm thankful for all my... 18:41 I'm thankful for food. 18:49 They're kind of precious. 18:50 I love them. 18:52 One of the other challenges we discovered after we started 18:56 having children at the orphanage 18:57 was that we needed additional space. 18:59 Not just additional space 19:00 but the government required us to separate... 19:03 The boys and the girls. 19:05 As far apart as possible. 19:06 So our next video is showing what? 19:09 Well, this is an answer to prayer of many months, 19:13 actually almost years of prayer asking God 19:17 for a new boys' dorm. 19:19 And so we prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed, 19:20 and prayed, and prayed, and prayed, and prayed, 19:23 and finally funds started coming in 19:26 according to God's timing and some help from good friends 19:30 and even brother Christian that was over there. 19:33 He saw the need 19:34 and he started telling his friends 19:36 about this amazing opportunity and desperate need, 19:40 and so finally the funds started coming in 19:42 and they started building. 19:44 And so this is like a trophy to see this video from India 19:49 of what's happening 19:50 with the building of the foundation. 19:53 So you can see that they're working there. 19:55 There's not a lot of people there 19:56 but they had been in the past and now they're just starting 19:58 to look at backfilling into these posts 20:01 because the ground there is not really solid, 20:04 so you have to dig way down and put these pylons 20:06 and almost like building a bridge. 20:08 And then the weight of the building 20:11 rest on these pylons. 20:12 And so, they've put in the pylons 20:15 and now they're starting to backfill 20:17 all the dirt into the ground. 20:21 When I see that, I just want to go over there 20:22 and grab the shovel and start helping these guys. 20:24 Yeah. And that is a shovel. 20:26 Yeah. 20:28 They're different from our shovels, 20:28 but that's a shovel. 20:30 But look how efficient they are 20:31 just pulling the dirt right in there. 20:33 And I've done enough construction 20:35 that sometimes I just like to get my hands dirty 20:36 and get a few calluses, maybe a couple of blisters on there, 20:39 it just feels right. 20:41 So, but, beautifully this is... 20:43 There's need for people that do construction 20:47 to go over there and help 20:48 because this isn't the end of the construction at all. 20:50 Right, this is just the beginning. 20:52 And now what else do you plan to do 20:55 with the rest of the property. 20:56 This part of the other side of the property, 20:59 we are planning to have a school, 21:01 so you can see the property how big it is. 21:04 We want to use it 21:05 because right now the children are going to government school. 21:08 There we have a fear and sometimes they're forced 21:11 to have their test on the Sabbath day 21:14 but the children are very firm. 21:16 Again there is another witness. 21:17 The children are witnessing the teachers 21:19 that we won't write any exams on Sabbath. 21:22 The teachers ask, 21:23 "Why don't you write the exams?" 21:25 That is the holy day. That is the day of our Lord. 21:28 We cannot do it. 21:30 You know, so it's amazing and so we're planning 21:35 to have a school of our own here 21:36 this side of the property till the grade 12, 21:38 so that we won't have any problem having the school, 21:42 so this is the place 21:43 where we are planning to have the school. 21:45 So would this be a school 21:47 just for the children then of the orphanage 21:49 or would it be opened up to the community 21:52 if there are Hindu people 21:54 who want to send their children to an Adventist school? 21:56 Yes, it is for all the children. 21:58 You were telling me the other day, 21:59 there is an upcoming potential problem in India 22:04 with the government schools. 22:06 Now in some states 22:09 they have implemented to have Bhagavad Gita 22:13 as one of their subjects in the school. 22:16 So that is a subject on Hinduism. 22:17 Okay. 22:18 Like we have Bible, 22:20 their sacred book is Bhagavad Gita. 22:21 So they're planning to have a subject on that 22:24 and it is being implemented in many states. 22:27 Central government is also planning to implement 22:29 in all the other states also. 22:31 So it is imperative that this school be built 22:35 as soon as possible. 22:35 Right. 22:36 It sounds like we have a small window of time. 22:38 Right. 22:40 Before these children are gonna be in situation 22:42 where they may be forced to either comply 22:45 with worshiping the Hindu gods 22:48 and taking those subjects or be expelled, 22:52 and we can't have that. 22:53 Yes, you are right. 22:54 Because you have some, not only are they precious kids 22:57 but some very bright students... 22:59 Very bright students. 23:00 With very promising futures. Exactly, yes. 23:02 So it will be a blessing to have our own school so that, 23:06 you know, nothing to do with the government. 23:09 Now I wanted to also ask you, 23:11 there was something else you said that needed to be done 23:14 in order to be in compliance with new rules and regulations. 23:16 Yes. 23:17 They said that we need to have the property completely fenced 23:22 so that, you know, they want to know 23:23 and to see that the children are not accessible 23:26 to the outside. 23:28 So it's for their safety. For their safety. 23:31 So right now it is fenced with iron wires 23:33 but the government is asking for good brick strong walls. 23:37 Now how tall does that have to be? 23:39 It need to be at least five foot. 23:41 Okay. 23:42 So that is what they're asking for. 23:42 Okay. 23:44 So we need to put a wall around this property. 23:48 So I just can't wait to see 23:51 what God is going to do on this property. 23:52 Praise the Lord. It's just wonderful. 23:56 So in that video they shared a couple of different needs, 23:57 a need for a school and a need for the fence. 23:59 Let's talk about the fence first 24:01 and then we'll talk about the school. 24:03 Now the fence is not a fence like we saw there as mentioned, 24:07 it needs to be a cement wall. 24:09 And we have received some funds toward that project, 24:13 so we'll be able to begin 24:14 but it has to go all the way around that. 24:15 How big is this piece of property? 24:18 It's five acres. 24:19 Five acres, so that's gonna be quite a lot of cement wall. 24:23 Correct. Yeah. 24:24 As long as we start building, 24:26 then that will help 24:27 with compliance with government regulations. 24:30 They will see we're trying to make an effort 24:32 to put this wall. 24:33 Right, and we'll continue as the funds keep coming in. 24:34 Absolutely. 24:35 Okay, and now let's talk about the school. 24:37 Yes. 24:38 The school needs to be seven rooms, what size room? 24:43 They need to have seven rooms, each room being 17x17 feet, 24:47 thankfully not meters, 17x17 feet. 24:51 So that's the minimum 24:52 that you have to start with, okay. 24:55 And we have to, so we need at least six classes 24:58 in those seven rooms. 25:00 Seventh room plus bathrooms and things like that. 25:03 So they've estimated the cost for building this 25:06 minimum structure to be about $50,000. 25:09 Okay. And so... 25:10 And we don't have any funding for that. 25:12 We don't have any funding towards that at all. 25:15 So we are praying again moving forward by faith, 25:18 praying that God will supply that need, 25:21 and so that we can start. 25:23 But the beautiful thing about having a school 25:25 as they mentioned in the video 25:26 is that this will open up the influence 25:28 to many other local people as well. 25:31 And if we have a school that has let's say for instance 25:35 student missionaries coming to teach 25:38 and their native speaker. 25:39 Then that will be a big attraction 25:41 from a long ways around, 25:43 and we also want to be able to provide dormitory situation, 25:46 so people from other cities 25:49 can send their kids there and really make a big impact, 25:53 so I'm exited about that possibility 25:56 of having a school there. 25:56 Yeah. 25:57 And then the children won't have the problems 26:00 with taking their exams on Sabbath and stuff like that. 26:02 Correct. Correct. So that will be a blessing. 26:03 Yes. 26:05 All the way around, it will be a blessing. 26:05 Yes, absolutely. 26:07 So we're praying to the Lord for that. 26:10 You know, there is always ongoing needs too. 26:11 I mean the staff that's there is always there. 26:14 They're always taking care of the children. 26:16 They always need funding for that. 26:18 We need funding for school uniforms 26:19 at this point 'cause we don't have a school, 26:21 but we still will need funding for school uniforms, 26:24 for paper and pencils and things like that 26:27 for the children, for the food, so there is ongoing expenses 26:30 that people can help with as well. 26:31 Right, yes. And so there is... 26:33 Right, and keeping up the orphanage 26:35 is very important to maintain, the buildings get destroyed 26:39 so fast in that damp weather so the... 26:41 Yeah, it's damp and then super dry, 26:43 and then super damp, back and forth every year. 26:46 Yeah, the tropical weather is very hard on the buildings-- 26:49 So you think that the cost of keeping these kids 26:52 would be very high, 26:53 but it's actually only $30 a month, 26:57 so a $1 a day takes care of a kid, 26:58 an orphan full time, his medical, everything. 27:03 Right, it's an average of about $385 a month 27:07 to run the whole orphanage, right? 27:09 With the number of children we have now which is only 13. 27:13 So as soon as that boys' dorm building is finished, 27:15 how many boys can we house in that dorm? 27:18 We'll be able to house... 27:19 We've built in a way that in the future 27:21 we can add a second storey. 27:22 But we are started out with the one floor 27:24 which will hold about 24 young men, 27:27 plus their caretaker. 27:29 I really enjoyed seeing the pictures and videos 27:33 of the children today, sharing with our viewers 27:34 what the Lord is doing in their lives. 27:37 Yeah, it brings you so much joy to see those kids. 27:40 I'm so thankful that we are part of their lives 27:43 in just a small little tiny way. 27:44 Right. 27:45 And you know, 27:46 maybe the Lord is asking you to be involved also. 27:49 Pray for these children, 27:50 there are so many children in India 27:52 that haven't had this opportunity, 27:54 but we're hoping to open the doors for them 27:55 to have the opportunity to come there also. 27:58 You can send your tax-deductible love gift 28:01 to Jesus for Asia, 28:01 PO Box 1221, Collegedale, Tennessee 37315. 28:07 Call us at 423-413-7321. 28:10 Or check out our website at Jesus4asia.org. 28:14 Jesus4asia.org. 28:16 Thank you and God bless you until we see you again. |
