00:21 Hello and welcome to Jesus for Asia Now.
00:24 I'm Natalie Wood, and I'm here with my husband Jon
00:27 to talk some more about Mindoro and the amazing miracles
00:30 that we've seen there.
00:32 Welcome to the show, dear.
00:33 Hi, darling, I'm looking forward
00:35 to another show on Mindoro.
00:36 Right.
00:37 There's a lot of amazing stories to share.
00:39 Some real miracle stories. Right.
00:41 And this just came in. Right.
00:43 So this is happening, I mean, this just happened.
00:46 Shall we play the video? Yes.
00:47 All right, here we go.
00:51 Three weeks ago.
01:01 Lord, this is your farm.
01:03 May Your name be great in this farm.
01:51 So we prayed for a farm...
02:03 So 15 kilometers from here.
02:05 Eventually, praise the Lord
02:18 Lord, this is your farm.
02:20 May Your name be great in this farm
02:23 that the people around will see
02:25 that there's a God in Your servant.
02:37 Imagine, three weeks ago...
02:59 And when I visited the farm, lo and behold...
04:39 You are a living God.
04:40 You answer Your people's prayer.
04:47 Those who work with Christ are allied with the One
04:50 Who knows no failure.
05:38 Isn't that an amazing miracle?
05:40 That is amazing. Wow!
05:42 God is so God and it's because the rice is for giving away.
05:46 Yeah.
05:47 But it's so clear, I mean, flatten field,
05:49 standing straight up,
05:50 they're right next to each other.
05:52 Yeah. That's a God thing.
05:54 Yeah, and on the drone shots, you could see it
05:56 was like it was surrounded by flatten fields.
05:58 Yeah.
06:00 And their fields stood straight.
06:01 Yeah.
06:02 I mean, you hear about this stuff
06:03 and like missionary story books...
06:04 Old books, yeah.
06:06 This is amazing. Yeah.
06:08 And so we can't praise God enough.
06:10 I mean, you know, to exalt God when things like this happen,
06:14 it's a picture into who God is
06:17 and it's a picture into His power
06:18 and this should be set up as a memorial.
06:21 God did this. Right.
06:23 Yeah. God is awesome.
06:24 He really is.
06:26 And that encourages not only us but encourages Pete and Jessica
06:30 and all the people around him, and it creates an interest
06:33 in the other farmers I'm sure.
06:35 Right.
06:36 To find out who is this God that you serve.
06:38 Right.
06:39 What's the difference between
06:40 your God and the God that I serve?
06:43 'Cause of those people are Catholic,
06:45 many people in the Philippians are Catholic.
06:46 Right. It's like 90% Catholic.
06:48 Yes, absolutely. Praise the Lord.
06:50 What a testimony through the power of God
06:52 and His personal interest in our lives.
06:53 Yes.
06:55 All right, in the next story that we have to share
06:57 is about one of the missionaries.
07:00 And his name is Macdong, and he's got a neat testimony.
07:05 Absolutely.
07:06 So let's play the video now. Okay.
07:08 You are my soul
07:12 You are my soul
07:16 You are the reason
07:20 I sing to You
07:36 A laid back 30 year old mountaineer,
07:38 who calls Mountain View College in Valencia Bukidnon his home.
07:44 He is a welder, but he proved to be more than that.
07:49 For when there was a call for missionaries
07:51 to the Mangyan people in Mindoro.
07:53 He readily responded.
07:57 In May 2014, during a Youth Congress
08:01 at Mountain View College,
08:03 Macdong met Pete and Jessica Barolo.
08:07 After hearing their testimonies
08:09 of God's providential grace he was impressed
08:13 to join them in ministering to the Mangyan tribe.
09:00 So, bringing along 60 kilos (132 lbs) of luggage,
09:04 he traveled to Mindoro on his bicycle.
09:21 Yes, you heard that right.
09:24 For 8 days he rode his bike,
09:28 covering a distance of 1,238 kilometers
09:33 all the way from Southern Philippines, Mindanao.
10:13 With nothing else to offer but himself,
10:16 Macdong trusted that God
10:18 would make use of his abilities.
10:21 He did everything he could to help in God's mission field.
10:25 From making tofu, to patiently teaching
10:28 the Mangyans at the mission school.
10:32 Today, there are five volunteer teachers assigned
10:36 in different mountain villages.
10:39 They bravely face obstacles,
10:42 often climbing different terrains
10:44 in order to reach these Mangyan friends.
10:47 Only in the Lord, do they find their strength.
10:52 But as they see their sacrifices bear fruit,
10:55 they experience joy in His service.
11:00 There are so many villages longing for education,
11:05 and many have not heard of God's saving grace.
11:09 But who will go?
11:13 Just like Macdong it can be you!
11:19 Amazing story, huh?
11:21 Yeah, and beautiful
11:22 because it was just his heart was right there.
11:25 Yeah.
11:26 And he packed himself up and headed off.
11:28 Recently, we've heard that he goes
11:30 and he mortgages his bicycle to buy tools
11:33 to teach the Mangyans to work their gardens.
11:36 Right.
11:37 Trying to get them to farm so that they don't have
11:40 to carry in all the food that they eat,
11:42 and they don't have to find food like
11:44 we're going to see in our next video.
14:13 So that's what it takes for them to get some food.
14:16 Right.
14:17 So there's no pick it today, eat it today.
14:19 Right.
14:20 They have to pick it today and prepare it,
14:22 and prepare it, and prepare it.
14:23 It's a three-day process of soaking, and then rinsing,
14:28 and then drying for three days, and then they can cook it.
14:32 Yeah. And it's starts out poisonous.
14:35 I mean, we want to bring that out
14:37 because he said it a little bit there
14:39 but you have to wash your hands afterward,
14:41 but if when they work with this, it's poisonous,
14:44 and it makes them dizzy or they can feel sick
14:47 because of the poison in that.
14:49 Yeah, so it's just this plant, like,
14:52 a little plant at the top,
14:53 but it's got this big bulbous under the ground,
14:55 you have to dig it out and then do all this processing
14:59 before they can eat it.
15:00 And that's there main staple, I mean, it doesn't look like
15:02 there's a lot of nutrition in that.
15:03 No, it doesn't.
15:05 So you can imagine why they have the malnutrition
15:07 and the kids have the big tummies
15:08 and all that kind of stuff.
15:10 Wow. Yeah.
15:11 Yeah, and why it's so important to supply them
15:13 with rice and vegetables.
15:16 Yes, and teach them then how to...
15:18 Once they learn that Jesus is bigger
15:20 than the demon spirits
15:22 and they can stay in one place longer,
15:25 then they can start growing their vegetables,
15:27 growing their own crops, and massive change, I mean,
15:32 to live in fear of the Bukaw when you actually hear,
15:35 and we're going to...
15:37 In the next video, he's going to talk about
15:38 what that's like to live in this kind of fear
15:41 where you can actually hear the evil spirit
15:44 moving around the village.
15:45 Yeah. It's not...
15:47 I mean, for people that...
15:48 It's not pretend, it's not something we just make up
15:51 or something, it's very, very real.
15:53 Right.
15:54 And for people that don't believe
15:55 in the supernatural, you know, there's places in the world
15:59 where you don't have to believe in it
16:00 'cause it's there.
16:01 It just is a reality. Yeah.
16:04 And find Jesus who is stronger and who cares,
16:10 what a break through.
16:11 Yeah. What a change of life. That's awesome. That's awesome.
16:15 All right, let's run that video now.
16:16 Okay.
16:17 When it's dark, the Mungyan would shout:
16:20 A Bukaw, there's Bukaw.
16:22 They will shout so...
16:24 children don't leave the house, stay home!
16:28 And they will call the teachers,
16:29 "Sir, please come, there's Bukaw,
16:32 "the Bukaw will eat you!"
16:35 Do they see it or they just know.
16:37 They hear it flying.
16:39 Oh, wow. I heard it myself.
16:41 Really? Yeah.
16:43 Yeah, we heard it there. Just the wind going by?
16:46 You know, the strong flapping of wings.
16:49 Sounds like wings. Yes.
16:50 Like that.
16:51 You can't see because it's dark.
16:53 Right.
16:54 But sometimes it changes sound like big woman
16:57 or old man something like that
16:59 sometimes it's big sometimes small, you know...
17:03 Yeah, they know this Bukaw.
17:05 They know it's an evil spirit. They know that's evil spirit.
17:08 Wow. Yeah.
17:09 So, what can you do if you're a missionary
17:11 in the middle of this...
17:13 Yeah. You're alone and so sad...
17:16 He was alone during that time.
17:19 Had it not been for Jesus, we would not be here.
17:21 It's because of Jesus, we're here.
17:23 So, you know, the missionary, instead of getting afraid
17:27 got his small guitar and started singing hymns.
17:32 It's not the worldly music, it's singing hymns.
17:36 "Upon a hill far away..."
17:39 something like that and then after that,
17:41 he had this assurance that Jesus was with him, prayed.
17:47 And then, he did not go to the houses of the Mungyans
17:52 though he was alone and he has the conviction
17:55 that the angels are with him so he staying in the cottage,
17:58 the school.
17:59 The following night, the same story!
18:02 The same story. It happened for almost a month.
18:06 But, you know, something in him,
18:09 the missionary got stronger, his faith is getting stronger,
18:12 he noticed that when he is singing,
18:13 the monster cannot come near.
18:17 So instead of the...
18:19 Because since the monster cannot come to him,
18:23 he is approaching the monster now
18:25 with his guitar, he is walking, "Oh, where is that sound?
18:27 Okay, I'll go there.
18:28 O Jesus, I have promised..."
18:31 It sounds like that.
18:33 And when he goes there, the monster flies away.
18:36 Wow.
18:39 It really happened for almost a month.
18:42 And that they noticed, the Mungyans here noticed that,
18:45 "Really, your Jesus is stronger than the Bukaws."
18:49 You are not afraid.
18:50 They started believing that Jesus somebody.
18:54 That Jesus is stronger than their fears.
18:58 So that's why we have the fruits here, the children.
19:01 Yeah. We have the church here now.
19:03 Yeah. It's because of a firm belief.
19:09 Yes.
19:10 That our God is mightier than anyone else.
19:13 Yeah, spoken in their language.
19:15 Yes, spoken in their language.
19:17 That they can see. Yes.
19:18 Praise the Lord.
19:21 Ain't that amazing?
19:22 Yeah, you know, it's so neat to hear the stories
19:24 while you're standing right there
19:26 where that happened.
19:27 Yeah.
19:28 You know, and to think about...
19:29 Now there was one section in there where he said
19:32 that he didn't go to their huts was that because
19:35 he was staying away from them because he didn't like them
19:38 or what was the deal there?
19:40 You know, he was singing in his hut
19:41 and praying in his hut and what means is that
19:44 if you hear a Bukaw, if the villagers hear a Bukaw,
19:47 they all gather together, huddle together.
19:49 If one person is out alone, that's really scary
19:51 and dangerous actually.
19:52 Right.
19:53 'Cause the monster will more likely attack
19:55 an individual than a group
19:57 and so they all huddle together.
19:59 And so for him to stay out there
20:00 all by himself in his own house,
20:02 it was really scary.
20:03 And it was act of faith because he sung, and he prayed,
20:07 and he believed Christ was with Him
20:09 and he had that confidence to stay out by himself.
20:12 There's another story that's not in this
20:13 where he went and chopped down a spirit tree
20:17 and he didn't do it all in one day
20:19 'cause he would pray
20:20 and he would get confidence and...
20:21 And then the spirit tree...
20:23 they thought it was a spirit because it's a tree
20:25 that all the fireflies like.
20:27 And so he'd have to like chop it down a little bit
20:30 and he gets sacred, and he go back and play, pray,
20:32 and Lord will give him more strength,
20:34 and he go do little bit more.
20:35 And finally, he chopped it down.
20:36 All the villagers thought he was going to die for sure,
20:39 but he didn't.
20:40 And so this is how they are beginning
20:43 to have confidence,
20:44 "Oh, your Jesus is stronger than the demon spirits,
20:48 the monsters, the man-eating monsters."
20:50 And so they're starting to have faith in their own way
20:55 and starting to believe in Jesus Christ.
20:57 God is working in ways that they understand.
20:59 Yeah.
21:00 And things that affect them directly.
21:01 And this is the thing,
21:03 if you come into a village like this
21:04 and do an evangelistic series and you know,
21:07 tell them about Jesus...
21:09 They don't have anything to relate to, you know.
21:11 Exactly.
21:12 But when they see, you know, their fear,
21:14 their biggest fear...
21:16 The spirits are the ones that are in charge, okay?
21:20 Right.
21:21 And when a being comes in that cares for them,
21:24 that loves them, that is good and is stronger
21:27 than the evil spirits, that talks.
21:29 Right.
21:31 And God is so good He's working in ways that they understand.
21:34 Yes.
21:35 And speaking into their lives and it's real.
21:37 Very, very real.
21:39 Now one side is that our churches done...
21:42 In fact, the Christian Faith is done very well
21:45 among the animist tribes because there's really
21:50 nothing there but fear to replace it.
21:52 It struggles when you come to try our people groups
21:56 that are more sophisticated that have a religion,
22:00 that have materialism, material wealth,
22:03 our church struggles in those areas.
22:06 But I think there is still as much a need in those areas
22:09 as there is in places where you can physically see
22:12 there is a need.
22:14 Right.
22:15 I mean, you go Downtown, Bangkok and they have,
22:17 you know, shopping malls with Rolls-Royce dealerships
22:21 on the fourth floor, you know?
22:22 Yeah.
22:24 It looks like they are doing fine,
22:26 but in actuality, there may be the need in the soul,
22:29 there is the need in the soul
22:31 just as much as with people like this.
22:35 Right. Right.
22:36 It's just harder to see it,
22:37 and it's harder to visualize it.
22:39 Right. Yeah.
22:40 And many times, it's harder to reach them.
22:42 Yes.
22:43 You have to be very, very intentional.
22:45 Yes, but as in this situation where it took miracles
22:48 with Jesus actually showing Himself,
22:51 the same thing, He does the same thing
22:53 with the upper class people, you know?
22:56 Right.
22:57 It is not irrespective of persons.
22:58 Absolutely not.
22:59 The wealth, their wealth doesn't frighten them,
23:02 like, it does to me.
23:03 Right, he's afraid in God.
23:06 Yeah. Right.
23:07 He is not selfish, and He goes in,
23:11 and He moves into their lives, and He helps them
23:12 in where they have concerns and where they have worries,
23:15 and fears, and something like that.
23:17 He helps them, He touches their heart,
23:18 gives them that warmth, fills their soul
23:21 even the people that have so much,
23:24 they're empty.
23:25 Lot of times, they just have this barrenness of soul
23:28 and all the things of the world doesn't fill that soul hunger
23:33 that they...
23:34 And many of them recognize that and they're looking.
23:36 Yeah.
23:37 It's hard for us to see that, but they're looking and so.
23:40 We love the mission work into the unreached
23:43 as far as the really poor and the animists,
23:48 but we also love the work
23:50 that reaches the different class.
23:52 Yeah, the unreached of wealthier classes too.
23:55 Exactly.
23:56 But you do notice that it took people living there.
24:00 Right. Okay.
24:01 And it took them intentionally being willing to go there.
24:04 Yes.
24:05 So it wasn't an accident, it wasn't just the people
24:09 that needed came to them, they had to go there.
24:13 And it wasn't flier.
24:15 In some places, the fliers do amazing work,
24:18 but in this case, it took somebody who living there.
24:20 It took a life.
24:21 And I think that in most cases, it takes someone living there.
24:26 There's other ways to reach them,
24:27 but it takes somebody to live there for them
24:30 to actually see it.
24:31 Yeah.
24:33 God is so good. Amen.
24:34 So this last video, we're going to be sharing in neat.
24:37 Okay. Pete's talking about a request.
24:41 So a request for prayer and a request for help.
24:45 There's other villages still that have...
24:46 Yes!
24:48 That believe is everywhere among this culture.
24:52 How many other villages are there out there?
24:54 Oh, we had aerial survey and I lost count
24:58 at 30, 30 more villages like this.
25:03 Wow.
25:04 So the work is so big. Yeah.
25:06 So after getting from the plane,
25:08 I am sadder than before.
25:10 I thought I would be happy to see the villages
25:12 and the villagers,
25:13 but that thing was really different.
25:16 I was sad, really sad.
25:18 "Lord, we have done nothing yet."
25:19 What is 3 villages in 30 more?
25:23 But who will go up there?
25:26 We cannot go because we're wearing clothes.
25:29 They will not accept missionaries
25:31 wearing clothes.
25:32 Only Macdong can do that.
25:34 We're praying that we'll send more missionaries
25:39 like brother Abar.
25:41 Mungyans.
25:43 Sent to their fellow Mungyans to reach them.
25:45 Amen. But it's so hard to develop.
25:49 Unless we take another bigger plan,
25:52 unless we take another step of faith
25:56 and that is building a Mungyan school
25:58 where our children can be there,
26:00 can be taught to be a missionary,
26:02 and can be sent.
26:03 Yes. Like an academy.
26:05 Yeah, an academy.
26:06 We are praying for that actually
26:07 because unless we do that, you know,
26:11 Mungyan will still languish in sin.
26:13 They will be terrorized by that belief of Bukaw.
26:16 They will be afraid of their death.
26:18 These people now, they're no longer
26:20 afraid of their death.
26:22 Somebody died there and they did not leave.
26:25 You know why?
26:26 Because they know Jesus. Praise the Lord.
26:31 Well, we need to pray for school then.
26:33 Yes. Yes.
26:35 We have to pray for school.
26:37 So I think understand his vision to train up
26:43 the ones in the villages that they're working in
26:46 to go deeper into the mountains.
26:49 Right.
26:50 To all those 30 and plus villages
26:52 that we're not entering in
26:53 and we're not able to really enter in
26:55 because what he's saying, "Who will go?"
26:59 He is talking about the majority tribe
27:01 that the Tagalogs or the Filipinos
27:04 who is willing to give up their life
27:06 to go deeply into the mountains that far in,
27:09 you know, we're talking about
27:11 maybe days worth of travel on foot.
27:14 Right.
27:15 You know, how do they come out and how do they get their rice?
27:18 So they would...
27:20 It would take their own kind, the Mungyan people
27:24 that know the gospel, that have that confidence,
27:26 and enough of them to start penetrating
27:29 deeply into that territory.
27:31 It's been really good to hear the stories and see the needs.
27:34 Yeah, to see the miracles. Yeah.
27:36 I would like to invite you to please prayerfully consider
27:39 how the Lord may be calling you to help move forward this work,
27:43 reaching these amazing sons and daughters of God
27:46 that are living in such primitive conditions.
27:48 You can send your tax deductible love gift
