How are you? 00:29 - I'm doing well. 00:30 I'm looking forward 00:31 to the stories that we have to share today. 00:33 - Yeah they're very inspiring. 00:35 - Right. 00:36 And we get to go to India again. 00:37 - And we'll get to see the fruit 00:38 of the toils and efforts that we've invested here on Earth. 00:43 - And all our viewers will get to see the fruit 00:45 of their contributions. 00:47 - [Jon] Yes. 00:48 - And the prayers. 00:49 - [Jon] Yes. 00:50 - Their prayers are so important. 00:52 - Absolutely, the beautiful thing about praying, 00:54 along with our giving, is that it not only blesses the field 00:59 over there and allows the gospel to go 01:01 into places that it wasn't before 01:03 but it also puts us in touch, 01:04 it tunes our ears 01:05 to the frequency that God is communicating 01:07 and it helps us be in tune with his heart for the unreached. 01:14 - So these Bible workers are sponsored in a unique way. 01:17 But before we get 01:18 to that, - Uh-huh. 01:19 - let's meet the Bible worker 01:20 whose story we're sharing today. 01:21 - [Jon] Yes. 01:22 - All right. 01:23 (inspirational music) 01:25 (Man speaking Hindi) 01:28 - [Translator] I come from a family 01:29 which is a very strong Hindu family. 01:31 And my father, he used to every year go 01:35 on pilgrimage to the temples around here in Tamil Nadu. 01:41 Continually he did that for eight years. 01:43 And I did that for five years. 01:46 And I wanted to become a Hindu priest. 01:49 In order to become a Hindu priest, you need to go 01:52 on your foot as a pilgrimage, nearly 48 miles 01:58 you have to walk on your barefoot 02:00 and then go and then return back barefoot. 02:03 Then you become a Hindu priest. 02:06 So I even did that walking. 02:08 I went 48 miles 02:10 and I was completely set to become a Hindu priest. 02:15 (Man speaking Hindi) 02:18 But all of a sudden my father became very sick. 02:20 I went to many temples. 02:23 I did which all possible remedies to be done. 02:28 I did all the rituals so that my father will be cured 02:32 but none of my prayers were answered. 02:36 I even went to a Roman Catholic church 02:38 and there the priest gave me some water 02:41 and I brought it and gave it to my father. 02:44 That did not help. 02:45 My father passed away. 02:48 My father was the only one who was earning 02:50 for the whole family. 02:51 I have two brothers and a sister. 02:53 I have to take care of everywhere, everything. 02:55 And I was studying, I couldn't continue my studies 02:58 because my father passed away. 03:00 I could not console my mother. 03:02 She used to cry. 03:03 I used to tell her, "Don't cry," 03:05 but at the same time I'd also be crying with her. 03:08 But during that time, my uncle came 03:11 and visited me and he said, "You people need peace." 03:15 He handed us a Bible, the Holy Bible. 03:18 Even though he gave it to me, 03:20 I took the Bible and put it in my box, 03:22 and I didn't use it for more than a year. 03:25 It was just simply lying there. 03:26 After a year, since the family situation was getting worse, 03:33 I was thinking to myself, why don't I study this Bible 03:35 which is there lying in my box? 03:38 So especially during the nighttime, in order 03:41 to divert my mind, I used to take the Bible and read it. 03:47 And my mother, she became very angry on me. 03:49 She said, "Are you getting mad? 03:51 What is that you're reading all the time? 03:54 You and your uncle, you both are getting mad. 03:57 Don't do that. 03:58 Better you study your lesson, you go, get a job 04:00 and you need to come up in your life." 04:03 (inspirational music) 04:06 If you see my Bible, you can see 04:08 all the pages will be marked there. 04:11 There'll be something written there. 04:13 I used to fight with the Lord 04:16 for answers and God used to reveal me. 04:19 I used to pray and sometimes I lock my room 04:22 and I'll be inside kneeling and praying and reading Bible. 04:25 So God was totally revealing me the truth. 04:29 (inspirational music) 04:33 One day, I was sleeping, 04:35 and my mother was sleeping on the bed. 04:38 All of a sudden, my mother was sitting 04:41 and she woke me up in the middle of the night. 04:44 And when he got up, he saw his mother. 04:47 She was just looking at him and she said, 04:50 "My son, I am having an unbearable headache. 04:53 I don't know what to do. 04:55 And I tried everything." 04:57 He asked her, "Did you take any medicine?" 05:01 She said, "Yes, I took medicine." 05:02 "Did you have any hot drink? Tea or something?" 05:05 She said, "Yes, I tried that, 05:07 but still this headache is not leaving me. 05:09 It's really troubling me. 05:11 I'm not able to sleep the whole night. 05:13 I didn't sleep," she said. 05:14 He immediately called his uncle 05:16 who's a Christian, Seventh-day Adventist. 05:18 He said, "Uncle, you need to pray for my mother. 05:21 She's suffering from this headache. 05:24 Can you please pray for her?" 05:26 And he said, "If you pray, 05:29 even God will answer your prayers. 05:31 Faithfully, you ask him, 05:32 we will as a family pray here 05:35 you pray there for your mother." 05:36 And he took his mother and asked her to sleep on his lap. 05:40 And he prayed, 05:41 "Father, before I finish this prayer 05:44 before I would say Amen, 05:47 my mother should sleep. 05:50 I didn't ask for the recovery from headache, 05:52 but I asked God that you should help her to sleep. 05:56 Give her good rest." 05:57 I was praying, by the time when I said, "Amen." 06:01 When I saw my mother was already, 06:03 she slept. 06:04 (inspirational music) 06:08 The mother who used to scold me before that, 06:11 after this incident, she used to encourage him. 06:14 "You continually pray," 06:16 because she tasted and saw how powerful is prayer. 06:22 And after that incident in the year 2012, 06:25 God led the whole family 06:28 into this Seventh-day Adventist truth. 06:31 (inspirational music) 06:42 - Isn't that cool how he prayed 06:44 for his mother and God let her sleep on his lap? 06:47 - He found help in the word 06:49 during a time where sorrow just wouldn't go away. 06:53 - [Jon] Right. - And so he finally turned 06:54 to the word and started finding Christ there. 06:57 - Amen. 06:58 - And I just think it's so neat how God wants 07:00 to meet everyone where they are 07:02 in whatever they're going through. 07:03 - [Jon] Uh-huh. 07:04 - So he was going through the sorrow 07:06 after his father's passing, but he had put the Bible away. 07:09 - [Jon] Mm-hmm. 07:11 - You know, and then he decided he was gonna read it. 07:13 - [Jon] Yeah. 07:15 - And I just think that's so neat. 07:16 And his uncle was right there telling him, 07:19 "This is what you need." 07:20 - [Jon] Yeah. - Your answers are in here. 07:21 - Yeah. - [Natalie] Yeah. 07:22 - That's beautiful. - [Natalie] Yeah. 07:24 - Thank God he had an uncle that was a believer. 07:25 - Yes, yes. 07:26 That's part of what drives us. 07:28 - [Jon] Yes. 07:29 - You know, to continue sponsoring Bible workers. 07:30 - [Jon] Yes. 07:32 - Is the realization, the very real realization 07:35 that there are many places where there's no access. 07:38 - [Jon] Exactly. 07:39 - Nobody's there to represent God. 07:41 - Exactly. But this little drop of one uncle now, 07:47 we're gonna see how that spreads joy and peace farther 07:52 and farther and farther in ever widening circles. 07:53 - So these Bible workers are sponsored 07:55 in a unique way, 07:56 as we said. - [Jon] Uh-huh. 07:57 - What is that? 07:59 What are we talking about? 08:01 - Okay, so several years ago I was 08:03 in India and I was talking with the president 08:07 of Southeast India Union in Tamil Nadu. 08:10 And he had a friend that was the president 08:13 of a small section 08:14 in Tamil Nadu who was requesting for 10 Bible workers. 08:19 - [Natalie] Hmm. 08:20 - And I had an idea because I had been recently thinking 08:24 about what if a church could tithe their church budget? 08:29 - [Natalie] Mm-hmm. - Okay. 08:30 What if they tithe their church budget? 08:31 You know? 08:33 'Cause it says, "Give me a tenth of your increase." 08:34 - Right. 08:35 - What if we saw the church 08:37 as a church family and the church budget as an increase? 08:40 - [Natalie] Hmm. 08:42 - So you could tie the church budget that would pretty 08:43 much pay for the 10 Bible workers 08:45 for the year, the yearly budget would pay. 08:47 Anyway, so I thought maybe that could work. 08:50 And so I came back to America, and I presented it 08:53 to the board saying, 08:55 "Hey, there's this one section 08:57 in which there's no church in 10 villages and they're asking 09:01 for 10 Bible workers to open up work in those villages." 09:05 Now you have to understand 09:06 that the church at this time, they were in transition. 09:09 They were a church plant and had been renting a church, 09:13 actually two different churches. 09:15 And then they had just recently bought property 09:17 in hopes of building a church. 09:19 In the meantime, while we were waiting 09:21 to get the plans and the preparation to build 09:24 we were having church in a tent. 09:26 - Mm-hmm. 09:27 - [Jon] You remember that? 09:28 - Yep. (laughs) - [Jon] Yeah. 09:29 - For two years. 09:30 - Two years, yeah. 09:31 And they were looking 09:32 at building a new church facility. 09:35 - Right. 09:36 - And normally if the church is planning 09:37 on doing a big building project, 09:39 you don't normally think about taking on extra expenses. 09:43 - Right. 09:44 - They believed and understood that this is God's work, 09:46 and if you help God's work in the foreign mission field, 09:51 then he will bless in the local. 09:53 - Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. 09:55 - (laughs) And so they went ahead and decided, yeah 09:57 we will sponsor 10 Bible workers 09:59 in India that we've never seen. 10:01 We've never met. 10:02 Trusting that God will take care of us. 10:03 - Yeah. 10:04 - Yeah. 10:05 Now they couldn't end up calling it tithe. 10:08 They didn't end up tithing. 10:09 But they made it another item in the church budget. 10:12 - Right. 10:13 - And they presented to the church and, well, 10:16 we'll tell more of the story 10:18 after we see some more of the Bible workers. 10:21 - [Natalie] Okay. 10:22 (inspirational music) 10:31 (Man speaking Hindi) 10:34 - [Translator] This place is filled with Hindus, 10:37 and they have a team, 10:39 his uncle, he, and sister Muthazhagu, 10:43 another sister Sasikala. 10:45 They go to all these villages as a team. 10:47 When he came into this village 10:49 he went and visited the first house because that lady, 10:55 her husband left her, 10:56 and she had a daughter who cannot speak or hear. 10:59 So she invited them to pray for her daughter. 11:03 As they were praying inside, they could see 11:06 someone standing in a white dress outside the door. 11:10 And he thought someone has come to see that lady. 11:14 He said, "Sister, go see someone standing outside." 11:17 When she went and saw those people said, 11:20 "Is this the group? Is this the group?" 11:22 They were talking to themselves outside. 11:24 Few people were, along with that man 11:27 who was dressed in white dress. 11:29 He's from a political party. 11:31 And this guy, when he saw him 11:33 and the other people praying he called them, 11:37 "Come out immediately, how can you pray here? 11:40 You are not supposed to do this. 11:42 Wait, what I'm going to do, wait and see." 11:45 And he said, 11:46 "No, we just came because they invited us to pray. 11:48 That is why." 11:49 "No, I should not see you anymore here." 11:51 If not, he threatened even that he would kill. 11:54 And immediately he took the phone 11:56 and he called the SP, Superintendent of Police. 11:58 And he called them and he made a big problem. 12:02 And all the villages got together, 12:04 but they stood firm and they said 12:06 "They invited us, we prayed. 12:09 You do whatever you want, we will pray." 12:11 And then that man said to the other two JFA worker, 12:16 "You two young girls, you are young. 12:18 If you come once again, 12:19 we will make you really feel ashamed." 12:22 Then that that guy called the SP. 12:27 And he said, "You have to take an action." 12:29 Since brother Kanan knows the Superintendent of Police, 12:35 he called him. 12:36 But by the time, there were a bunch of police came 12:38 to this village, and these people were shouting, 12:40 "You chase these people out, and they should not stay here. 12:43 They should not come back here." 12:45 But before those police, he said, 12:47 "No, we will come here. 12:49 We will teach these people good thing. 12:51 You do whatever you want. 12:53 We have Jesus who's with us." 12:55 But the police requested them, 12:57 "Please go, if not there will be a big problem." 13:00 They went from there 13:01 to another next village preaching about Jesus Christ. 13:05 (inspirational music) 13:08 Before this incident, 13:10 the only people knew was in this village. 13:13 But after this incident, many other villages, 13:16 they came to know that there is a group 13:18 of God's people who is from Seventh-day Adventist Church. 13:23 They are preaching about Jesus Christ. 13:24 That opened many doors for us. 13:27 (inspirational music) 13:33 We went to this village again 13:35 preaching about Jesus Christ, teaching about him. 13:38 The Hindu leader saw us. 13:39 He called the police. 13:41 And these police and the group of people, 13:45 they were just coming to get us, but we didn't know. 13:49 But as usual, the whole day, we prayed, 13:52 in the evening for the last visiting, we went to one house. 13:57 We were praying. 13:59 That lady asked us, "Oh, you are still doing this? 14:01 You are still praying? 14:03 The police didn't come and catch you? 14:06 Because I saw the police were just searching for you. 14:11 They were coming just behind you to arrest you." 14:15 We thank the Lord that God hid us from their eyes, 14:21 from the police and from those political leaders. 14:25 And another time, myself and our team people, 14:29 every week we have one day 14:32 as fasting and praying. 14:34 As I was praying in one house, this Muthazhagu sister, 14:37 she went to another house to pray. 14:40 But that time all the villages got hold 14:42 of her and they were all surrounding her. 14:44 And they said, "Why are you here? 14:46 Why did you come here? 14:48 We have told you not to come. 14:50 How come you are here?" 14:51 We don't know how, 14:52 but amazingly, God brought sister Muthazhagu 14:57 from that group. 14:58 They were planning to do something to her, 15:00 but God delivered her from the hands of these people. 15:05 (inspirational music) 15:08 He praise God because even 15:11 though they visited many other villages, 15:13 this place is the most difficult place. 15:17 But amazingly, even in other villages 15:20 we could not start a small prayer group. 15:24 But here God helped us to start a prayer group. 15:28 (inspirational music) 15:34 - So in the place that was the most difficult, 15:36 that gave him the most trouble, 15:37 that's where they have a prayer group started. 15:39 - Right. 15:40 (both laugh) 15:41 God is amazing how He turns persecution 15:43 into blessings. 15:44 - Yeah. Yeah. 15:45 - And He brings good out of evil, 15:47 or what the others intended for evil. 15:49 - I love how they got together as a team to go 15:51 and uplift each other in dealing with these places. 15:56 - [Natalie] Yeah. 15:57 - And the persecution that they encountered. 15:58 - Yeah. 15:59 Well we have another video. 16:00 - Okay. 16:01 (inspirational music) 16:05 (Woman speaking Hindi) 16:10 - [Translator] She was a Hindu. 16:12 She used to go on pilgrimage. (brush scraping) 16:14 She used to do all the needed rituals for the Hindu gods. 16:20 She did everything possible so 16:23 that her family will be kept safe and sound. 16:27 She lost her husband when her daughter was 11 years old. 16:31 She has only one daughter. 16:33 Her name is Ishwari. 16:35 And now she has got three children, one girl and two boys. 16:41 (inspirational music) 16:46 And one day when I was about to cross the road 16:49 with my granddaughter in my hands, 16:52 there was one man who could not cross the road. 16:56 So I was trying to help that man. 17:00 That is when there were four people. 17:03 They came to help me to help that man to cross the road. 17:07 They said, "Mother, please wait. 17:10 We will help you. 17:12 Let us all together, we will help." 17:14 So they all five got together 17:17 and they went help the man to cross the road. 17:20 And they came back. 17:21 When they came back, the four 17:24 of the Bible workers asked her, 17:26 "What is your problem? 17:28 We see that you have some problem." 17:30 Then she asked them, 17:32 "You are police people. How can you help us, help me?" 17:35 They said, "No, no, no. 17:36 We are not police people. 17:38 We are Bible workers. 17:41 We have come here to pray 17:42 for people who are in need, who are sick. 17:46 We want to pray for them." 17:48 Then she said, "You know, my granddaughter is very sick. 17:51 She's having this kidney problem and also uterus problem." 17:57 When these four people asked her, 17:58 "Can we pray for your granddaughter?" 18:00 She said, "I don't know what is prayer, 18:03 but I want my granddaughter to be saved. 18:06 Please pray for her." 18:07 (inspirational music) 18:10 But since I was knowing about Jesus 18:14 little by little, there was big problem raising. 18:18 And her son-in-law, he created a big problem. 18:25 Then she started going again to this Hinduism because few 18:28 of her neighborhood people, they started telling her, 18:31 "You should go back to the Hinduism 18:33 and you should do these rituals, 18:36 so that all these problems will be rectified 18:39 and you will be fine." 18:42 She went to many temples, but there was no answer. 18:48 But Satan was creating lot of problem. 18:50 Her son-in-law left the house 18:54 and her daughter was struggling with those three children 18:57 and she got these dreadlocks on her head 19:01 and people said, "See, the Hindu gods has come on you. 19:05 That is why you got these dreadlocks." 19:08 She didn't believe. 19:10 Finally what she did, she completely took all the deadlocks 19:14 from her head. 19:18 And then she collected all the Hindu gods' photos 19:22 which was hanging in the house. 19:24 She gathered it, put it in a bag, 19:28 and then she took it and threw it. 19:32 And she said, 19:33 "No more these Hindu gods are going to come into my house. 19:39 I'm going to believe in Jesus Christ." 19:41 And when these four Bible workers started giving 19:45 Bible study, and that really touched my heart. 19:50 And after that they asked me, 19:53 "Do you like to take baptism? 19:55 Accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior? 19:58 She said, "Yes." 20:00 (inspirational music) 20:03 When she came back, 20:04 that is when the real problem was waiting 20:07 for her. (bird squawking) 20:08 The whole village turned against her. 20:11 Everyone started scolding her 20:14 and they stopped talking to her. 20:16 And even they stopped giving water. 20:19 They said, "We don't want to see your face." 20:21 She fenced the whole house. 20:23 That was a miracle did by God. 20:26 He gave her the needed funds to fence this house. 20:31 And she was praying, 20:33 "Lord, I don't have water to drink or for my daily use." 20:37 God answered the prayer and he gave the needed finance 20:41 and they gave the pipeline, 20:44 from the government pipeline, they gave water for her. 20:47 (inspirational music) 20:53 - Isn't that beautiful how an act 20:54 of kindness opened the door? 20:57 - And you know it's interesting 'cause she talked 20:59 about going on pilgrimages, 21:00 and what a faithful Hindu she was. 21:02 - [Jon] Yes. 21:03 - And he Bible worker that we met first, 21:05 - [Jon] Uh-huh. 21:06 - he also went on pilgrimages, 21:07 and I mean, he walked 48 miles barefoot 21:10 or something like that, 21:11 I think he said. - [Jon] Yeah, both ways. 21:12 So in this next video, we get to meet, 21:14 first the daughter, 21:15 and then the daughter's daughter 21:17 which is the lady's granddaughter. 21:20 (people singing in Hindi and clapping) 21:32 (Woman speaking Hindi) 21:34 - [Translator] She never believes on Jesus Christ 21:37 or she never goes to church. 21:40 But when this situation was with her daughter 21:43 that was when the four Bible workers visited her mother. 21:49 They used to frequently visit her mother's house 21:52 and the Bible workers started talking 21:56 to her and encouraged her that if you ask, God will answer, 22:02 and deliver your daughter from this sickness. 22:05 She didn't have that faith in the beginning. 22:08 But gradually, they started talking to her. 22:10 And then they said, "You come to the church, tell God. 22:15 You talk to God. 22:16 You pour your burdens to God. 22:19 God will definitely give you a answer." 22:25 And that is when, for the first time, 22:26 she went to the church, 22:28 she went in the front and she witnessed, she said, 22:34 "These are the problems 22:35 I have, (bird squawking) 22:36 and I've come here to the church so 22:38 that you can all pray for me and I'm also going to pray." 22:42 And I started going to church 22:44 and praying and asking God to deliver. 22:48 (inspirational music) 22:52 In this situation 22:53 when these four JFA Bible workers started praying 22:56 for the daughter, she says that before she will not go out, 23:00 she cannot walk, she cannot play with the other children. 23:03 She will eat a little bit, 23:04 and then (birds squawking) 23:05 she'll go back to sleep. 23:06 But after they came, 23:08 started praying for the daughter, God answered the prayers. 23:12 My daughter started walking, 23:14 my daughter started playing with the other children. 23:18 That really touched my heart. 23:20 I started to think, we went to so many temples 23:23 but none of those temples, the gods answered. 23:27 But when I prayed to the Lord, living God, Jesus Christ, 23:34 he answered, and my daughter is able to move around now. 23:36 But still my husband, he's not accepted Jesus Christ yet. 23:41 But the JFA Bible workers, they started talking 23:44 to my husband and now he comes and stands for prayer. 23:49 (inspirational music) 23:52 And when she went to the doctor for the final result 23:55 of her daughter, she was praying to the living God. 23:59 Her concentration was not on anything else. 24:02 Finally when the result they wanted to announce, 24:06 the doctor said, "Why are you so worried? 24:09 Your daughter is normal. 24:11 The reproductive organs for a female, she has everything. 24:15 There is no problem in her uterus. 24:17 Only thing is she's having more salt in her body. 24:21 You need to take treatment for that. 24:24 She's a normal girl 24:26 and she will be a good woman and a mother in future." 24:30 When the doctor said that, she started crying. 24:33 She was so thankful. 24:36 She said, "Lord, thank you, Lord. 24:38 Thank you Lord. Thank you. 24:39 Praise God. Praise God." 24:40 (inspirational music) 24:44 And she has a prayer request that please pray 24:47 for her daughter that God will touch that little girl. 24:53 She's four years old now and pray 24:55 that God will heal her completely so that the salt 24:59 in her body will be balanced and she will be a normal girl. 25:04 She says that, "I'm waiting, I'm praying. 25:06 I wanted to come to Christ as a family 25:09 because I don't want to be a Christian 25:10 and my husband in the Hindu belief, that is not good. 25:14 I'm praying that we will be together 25:16 accept God and come to God as a family." 25:19 (inspirational music) 25:24 She says when she was a Hindu, even though she went 25:28 to many temples, she didn't have the peace in her heart. 25:31 There was something lacking in her life, 25:34 but that she understood only 25:36 after she accepted Jesus Christ. 25:39 Now she has the peace in her heart. 25:43 God has given her the peace, 25:44 and she says God wakes her every night 25:49 at 11:30 or 12 in the midnight, he wakes her up. 25:53 It's like someone tapping her and waking her up, 25:57 and she would wake up and go kneel and pray to God. 26:01 And every day she starts the day with prayer. 26:06 She would also end the day with prayer. 26:08 This kind of peace I didn't have when I was in Hindu. 26:13 But now I have that peace. 26:16 (inspirational music) 26:19 Me and my team, 26:20 JFA Bible workers, we thank the Lord 26:23 for the way he's doing these miraculous things 26:26 in this village, and we pray 26:28 that you'd also join us and pray for this village. 26:32 So that God will open many doors 26:35 and His name will be glorified. 26:37 (inspirational music) 26:49 - Amen. 26:50 - [Jon] Amen. 26:52 - There are so many reasons that God is getting glory 26:54 from this video. 26:55 - Yes.
