00:21 - Hello, and welcome to "Jesus for Asia Now".
00:24 I'm Natalie Wood, and I am not in the studio.
00:27 I am in Sukhothai, Thailand.
00:29 Now, why am I here?
00:31 It's because we brought a bunch of missionaries together
00:34 for back to the altar training.
00:36 Back to the altar training is an initiative
00:39 from the general conference in association
00:42 with In Discipleship Ministries and Pastor Don MacLafferty.
00:45 And basically,
00:46 it's teaching us how to be disciples
00:49 and how to disciple others to learn and grow in Jesus.
00:53 It's been a very blessed time here
00:55 and I'd like to introduce you to some of the
00:58 "Jesus for Asia" missionaries that have joined us here.
01:01 Our first ones here are, what are your names?
01:04 - Harvey and Brenda Steck.
01:05 - Okay.
01:06 And where do you live?
01:07 - We live in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
01:08 - Okay, in Thailand.
01:09 Okay.
01:10 And what do you do here?
01:12 - I'm heading up the Love for Asia office,
01:15 the foundation that "Jesus for Asia" has in Thailand.
01:18 - Okay.
01:19 And what's involved in that?
01:20 Is that just like one office or?
01:22 - We have the main office where we have a studio
01:25 and a translation team.
01:28 We're producing videos that are put up
01:30 on YouTube and Facebook.
01:32 - [Natalie] Okay.
01:33 - We also have a translation team working on
01:34 Ellen White Books and other materials
01:37 to get into the Thai and Hmong languages.
01:39 And we also have another studio in Mesat
01:42 and we have a team working there as well,
01:45 producing videos in Karen and Burmese.
01:48 - Okay.
01:49 All right.
01:50 And Brenda, what do you do?
01:52 - So I make small booklets to hand out
01:55 to the Buddhists so they know that God helps them,
01:59 He can answer their prayers
02:01 and so they know that He loves them.
02:04 And so, so books to share.
02:05 - Sounds awesome.
02:06 And do you have a brief testimony
02:08 for us that you can share?
02:10 - It's a great blessing to work with our staff
02:12 and they love to do their work
02:17 and it's a blessing to be able
02:19 to see materials produced in the local languages.
02:22 And I also find a great blessing in studying
02:24 the Bible with people.
02:25 There was a lady that we met recently.
02:27 We were introduced by another Adventist
02:30 who was visiting Thailand.
02:31 She introduced us to this lady.
02:33 The lady says, "I wanna read the Bible.
02:35 I wanna start reading in Genesis one and two."
02:37 And so we went and visited her a couple Sundays ago
02:41 and she was just amazed
02:44 what she could learn just from Genesis 1.
02:46 And she can't wait to study
02:48 with us again when we get back.
02:49 So we're really thrilled with that.
02:51 So it's a great blessing not only to work with Adventists,
02:56 but also to work with people
02:57 that have never heard the gospel.
02:59 - Awesome. - Praise God.
03:00 - All right.
03:01 Well, thank you.
03:02 - Thank you.
03:03 - All right.
03:04 And let's meet our next family here.
03:06 What are your names?
03:07 - We're the Leffler family.
03:08 My name's Matthew and my wife Rachel
03:10 and our children, Emily, Alyssa, and Luke.
03:12 - Okay.
03:13 And where do you live?
03:14 - We live in Chiang Mai, Thailand right now.
03:16 - Okay.
03:17 And what are you doing here?
03:18 - Right now, we are doing Thai language learning.
03:20 - Okay.
03:21 - And our goal is to move to central Thailand
03:23 to church plant among the Thai Buddhists.
03:26 - Okay.
03:27 And do you have a testimony from your time here?
03:29 - Yes.
03:32 When we were first considering coming to the mission field,
03:34 one of the things that we were wrestling over was,
03:37 is this the right time
03:38 to bring our kids to the mission field?
03:40 Because I know mission work can sometimes impact families
03:43 both positively and negatively.
03:45 So since making the decision to come
03:48 and bringing them here,
03:49 we've been really thankful to have made that decision
03:52 because we can see now
03:54 that they're our greatest asset here in the mission field.
03:57 We've been able to make all sorts of friends and contacts.
04:01 Just going to the store,
04:03 we'll have people coming up to us and saying,
04:05 "Can I meet your kids?"
04:06 And asking to talk to them, touch them.
04:11 Thais love kids.
04:13 And we met a lady that way who we've
04:17 developed a relationship, a friendship with.
04:19 And it ended up working out that she came to our house
04:23 to teach me how to make pad Thai.
04:25 And she brought a friend of hers
04:28 who is actually a Buddhist nun.
04:31 And I was able to talk with this lady
04:34 for a while about her experience being a nun.
04:37 That was a really interesting opportunity to meet her.
04:44 And we're just, it's a developing relationship.
04:46 We're still spending time with her.
04:49 Anyway,
04:50 I just wanna encourage anyone
04:52 who is not sure about bringing kids to the mission field
04:54 that they're probably your biggest asset.
04:57 - Yeah.
04:58 We've seen that over and over again.
05:00 All right, well, thank you for sharing.
05:02 All right.
05:02 Now let's meet the next group.
05:04 What are your names?
05:05 - I'm Kenton Rogers and this is my family,
05:08 Rachel and Jeremiah and Marta.
05:10 And our oldest daughter is still in Cambodia,
05:12 so we're from Cambodia.
05:14 - Okay.
05:15 And what are you doing in Cambodia?
05:17 - We are working on starting a publishing house.
05:20 - Okay.
05:21 - And actually getting,
05:22 we have this last year gotten to the place
05:24 where we are starting to print.
05:26 - Okay.
05:28 So is there more to the publishing work than just printing?
05:31 - Yes.
05:33 So translation is also part of it
05:36 and finding people is hard.
05:38 And so a lot of our translators are doing work on the side.
05:43 And so it's taking something, it's years to get translated.
05:47 So this last month,
05:49 we're this close to having two books done.
05:52 - Wow. - And it feels so nice.
05:53 - Yeah.
05:54 I'm sure it does.
05:56 Do you have a testimony you'd like to share with us
05:58 about the work or about your time here in Cambodia?
06:01 - Yes.
06:03 So we've been printing,
06:06 one of the first things we did was a small little booklet
06:09 and it was not really going out at all or being used,
06:13 but this last year,
06:15 there were evangelistic series,
06:18 one done in Radnecurie
06:20 and then a larger one in Siem Reap.
06:22 And in the process of inviting people,
06:25 they wanted to give something to the people.
06:27 And so one of the pamphlets
06:29 we have on introducing Jesus was given
06:32 as an invitation to the people in Radnecurie
06:36 and 3,000 of them in Siem Reap.
06:39 - Wow, okay.
06:40 Well, praise the Lord.
06:41 That's such a blessing.
06:43 So what do you do while he's working on the
06:44 publishing and translation?
06:46 - Well, I guess I'm the support team.
06:49 I homeschool the kids and I fix meals for Kenton
06:52 and our one full-time employee
06:54 that's in the print shop and pray.
06:58 - That sounds like a busy day anyway.
07:01 Well, thank you so much for sharing today.
07:04 Let's meet our next group.
07:05 What are your names?
07:07 - My name is Biet Jhaw.
07:08 - And I'm Gayle.
07:09 - Okay.
07:10 And where do you live?
07:11 - Well God has definitely called us up in the jungle
07:13 mountains of Northern Thailand to work in small villages
07:18 of Karen people, which are all through the jungle mountains.
07:22 - Okay.
07:22 And what do you do there?
07:24 - I am a nurse and we have a clinic, so to speak,
07:27 and we get to see hundreds of patients
07:31 - And Biet Jhaw, what do you do?
07:33 - I translate for her and then I'll be like her driver, too.
07:38 - Her driver, okay.
07:39 Do you help also
07:41 or do they have to one-on-one wait for Gayle?
07:43 - I do.
07:44 I do help them, too.
07:45 And then sometime when she's gone
07:47 and like she has to go back to America,
07:50 yeah, I will be the one.
07:51 But I do not give shots and I will not pull teeth.
07:55 - Okay.
07:56 So you've learned a lot from Gayle
07:57 about nursing over the years.
07:59 Okay.
08:01 Do you have a testimony that you'd like to share with us?
08:02 - Yes, because where we are,
08:05 it might be kind of centrally located to a lot of villages
08:08 because we have seen patients from over
08:10 120 different villages.
08:12 - Okay.
08:13 - And they come from a long way, some of them.
08:15 Some walk for an hour or more.
08:18 Some have motorbikes, most have motorbikes.
08:20 Sometimes they hire a truck.
08:23 And they will come, one or two trucks,
08:26 and full of people that want to be treated.
08:29 And we say, why did you come here?
08:31 Because you passed two clinics
08:33 and you could've gone to that hospital.
08:35 And they say,
08:36 "Well, we heard you get better when you come here."
08:38 - Okay.
08:40 - And so we have a chance to tell them it's not us,
08:42 but we pray with our patients
08:44 and we have a chance to tell them
08:45 that God is more powerful than anything.
08:48 And it's because we pray.
08:49 And you know,
08:51 you can pack a lot of the gospel in a simple prayer.
08:53 We just have the best job of anybody
08:55 because we get to tell the people about Jesus every day.
08:59 - That's so wonderful.
09:01 Thank you so much for sharing.
09:03 All right.
09:04 Let's meet our next family.
09:05 What are your names?
09:06 - We are the Espana family.
09:08 - My name is Ric.
09:09 - Jane.
09:10 - Isabelle.
09:11 - Juliana.
09:13 - Lucas, and this is Francesca.
09:15 - Nice to meet you.
09:16 So where are you living?
09:18 - We are temporarily living in Khon Kaen learning the
09:22 Thai language and music for ministry.
09:24 - Okay.
09:25 And what else are you doing?
09:27 - We are there connecting with people and making friends
09:29 and we're helping people with their health
09:30 or their emotional needs.
09:32 - Okay.
09:33 - One of the things that we've
09:34 also been involved in is the printing ministry in Thailand.
09:39 And God has opened the doors for materials
09:43 to be translated in Thailand.
09:44 And we are involved in distributing
09:47 books to Eastern Thailand.
09:48 - Nice, nice.
09:50 Sounds awesome.
09:51 Do you have a testimony from your time here?
09:53 - Yes.
09:54 We met a lady, she grew up Christian,
09:57 but she experienced a lot of pain
10:00 and suffering in her life and she actually tried
10:04 to commit suicide just before we met her.
10:07 So I prayed with her twice a day for over a month.
10:11 And in about a month's time, she said,
10:13 "I believe in God and I have a lot of hope."
10:16 And her faith was really strengthened.
10:17 So we just praise the Lord for what he did.
10:19 - Yeah.
10:20 - There are 101 ideas that we have for what
10:22 to do in Thailand,
10:23 but we want the Lord to lead us in what He wants us to do.
10:26 There was one gentleman who
10:28 was suffering from severe ulcers on his lower limbs.
10:33 We started helping him with the ulcers.
10:36 But what was most exciting was that his heart was open
10:41 to the relationship with God
10:43 and that God wants him to experience a relationship
10:45 of healing for his own soul.
10:47 - Wow.
10:48 That's awesome.
10:49 Is there anything else you'd like to share?
10:51 - We're going to an unreached province at the end
10:54 of this year and there's
10:55 so few missionaries out in the field.
10:58 And so we would just like to make an appeal
11:00 to pray about God leading you to be a missionary overseas.
11:04 - All right.
11:05 Well, thank you so much for sharing.
11:06 - Thank you for having us.
11:07 - All right, let's meet our next group.
11:10 What are your names?
11:11 - My name is Jim and this is my wife Irene.
11:13 Our last name is Hill.
11:14 - Okay.
11:15 And where do you live?
11:16 - We live at a small school,
11:18 an elementary school on the western border of Thailand
11:21 about an hour north of the town of Mesat.
11:24 - Okay.
11:25 And what are you doing there?
11:27 - Well, it was an interesting call to come there.
11:29 We met the secretary
11:31 of the Thailand Adventist mission while we were in Bangkok
11:34 and he was instrumental in asking us to come to this school.
11:38 - Okay.
11:40 - To grow food, to help the budget of this very poor school,
11:43 but also to bear our Christian influence while we're there.
11:46 - Okay.
11:47 Wow.
11:49 Do you have a testimony from your time there?
11:50 - Sure.
11:51 I'd like to tell you about one
11:52 of the students at this school.
11:54 It only goes to grade six.
11:56 So this girl was 11 years old when we met her,
11:59 and she impressed me as the most cheerful and kindest,
12:05 most polite student on campus.
12:07 And over the years, we've gotten to know her.
12:09 And she comes from a very poor family.
12:12 Her parents are separated, her father's an alcoholic.
12:16 And so she has suffered quite a bit.
12:18 And one of the things that she would do often is she
12:21 would come to the gardens
12:22 and she would ask if she could have a guava
12:25 or if she could get some long beans to eat.
12:28 And she was always very kind about asking
12:31 and then then I would respond to her and help her.
12:34 And she would always say to me, "You are so kind."
12:37 Well, I wasn't doing anything special.
12:39 So she wasn't experiencing much kindness in her life.
12:42 This year, we've asked her,
12:43 "What are you gonna do after you're done here?"
12:46 Says, "Well, I'd like to go to academy, but I can't."
12:49 - Oh.
12:50 - So because of the generosity of various donors,
12:53 we're able to sponsor her to go to academy next year.
12:56 - That's awesome.
12:57 - So we're anxious to see
12:58 how is God gonna work in her life to develop the potential
13:01 that God has given her.
13:03 - Wow.
13:04 Thank you so much for being here today
13:05 and for sharing with us.
13:06 - Thank you.
13:07 - All right, let's meet our next family here.
13:09 What are your names?
13:10 - Hello, we're the Howell family.
13:12 I'm Billy, this my wife Natalie, my daughter Elisa,
13:15 and we have another daughter at school in the States.
13:17 - Okay.
13:18 And where do you live?
13:20 - We currently live in Cambodia.
13:21 - Okay.
13:22 And what are you doing there right now?
13:24 - We're planning to start a school,
13:27 Adventist school in the Battambang area of Cambodia.
13:30 There's no schools in that area, Adventist schools.
13:32 We're having a few issues with teachers.
13:34 They don't have teachers.
13:35 So we have to train some young people,
13:38 teach them English so that they can go away to school
13:41 so they can be trained to be teachers.
13:43 - Okay.
13:43 Wow, that sounds challenging.
13:45 So do you have a testimony you'd like to share with us?
13:48 - Yes, I do.
13:49 Currently,
13:51 we're living in the capitol learning the language
13:53 'cause we do not have a translator.
13:55 And recently,
13:57 I received a call from another missionary
13:58 saying the head police in our village area,
14:02 province tried to reach us.
14:04 And I was nervous because
14:06 I don't know the language enough to speak to him.
14:09 And I was like, "I have no one to help me."
14:12 So God wanted me to be bold.
14:14 So I called him and I was able to talk to him in Khmer,
14:18 telling him where we were, what we were doing,
14:21 how long we would be there.
14:23 And in the middle of me talking,
14:25 I could hear the smile in his voice because
14:28 before when we met him face to face,
14:29 it wasn't the friendliest, you know?
14:31 And so it was really nice to hear that smile.
14:34 And then in the end,
14:35 he responded to me and I told him
14:37 (speaking in foreign language), meaning I don't understand.
14:40 And he spoke perfect English.
14:43 And I realized,
14:44 I could've spoken to him in English all the time,
14:47 the whole time.
14:48 And I'm like,
14:49 it was a better testimony being able to see
14:51 how God has been helping me with the language.
14:54 And he was able to understand that.
14:55 And I feel like there's a connection when they see
14:58 that you're trying to learn their language.
15:00 - Wow.
15:01 Well, praise the Lord.
15:02 Thank you for sharing.
15:03 - Thank you so much for having us.
15:05 - All right, let's meet our next couple here.
15:08 What are your names?
15:09 - I'm Mike. and this is Marilee.
15:11 We're the Kier family.
15:12 - Okay.
15:13 And where are you living?
15:14 - God called us here to Thailand
15:16 and we are based in the Central Valley,
15:19 which is kind of the heart of average Thailand.
15:22 - Okay.
15:23 - It's among the Thai ethnic people that
15:25 we really don't have much Seventh Day Adventist
15:27 Christians in this area.
15:28 - So what are you doing here in Thailand?
15:31 - We joined a team when we first came
15:32 and we helped to plant a congregation
15:34 where there was no Christian work before.
15:36 And then from that,
15:37 we helped to plant two other congregations.
15:40 Natalie, when we came, there was no "Jesus for Asia."
15:43 But it's such a joy to see all these
15:45 friends that have been coming through.
15:46 And we had a breakthrough happen when you and John
15:49 and your children and another family came to stay with us.
15:52 That kind of opened the door for another dimension
15:54 where we're helping people come and go
15:56 and help 'em with transportation and orientation to be here.
15:59 - Well, praise the Lord.
16:00 We praise the Lord for that.
16:02 Do you have a testimony you'd like to share?
16:03 - We do.
16:04 - Yes.
16:06 I was wanting to share about a lady that we've been working
16:09 with for years and she's gone through so much
16:13 and she was just broken.
16:15 She's just wondering what the point of living is.
16:18 So we took her to a friend's house
16:20 and we just stayed there with her
16:23 and we spent time focusing on just ministering to her heart.
16:28 - You know,
16:29 there's no way to describe her sufferings
16:30 and her upbringing, but she said,
16:33 "Now I understand.
16:34 God has given me the gift of suffering
16:37 so I can comfort others and their suffering."
16:39 - Wow.
16:40 Praise the Lord.
16:41 - She's now open and caring and showing love to others.
16:46 It's just amazing to see
16:48 how God has worked in her life for years and years
16:52 and now how He's bringing a breakthrough
16:55 into her experience.
16:56 And we're just praising God for it.
16:58 - Yes. - Amen, amen.
16:59 - I can understand that.
17:00 Well, thank you so much for sharing today.
17:02 - Thank you, Natalie.
17:03 - All right, let's meet this group here.
17:05 What are your names?
17:07 - I'm Michelle, and this is my son, Micaia.
17:10 And sad to say Mike is not here
17:12 because of some health problems.
17:14 - Okay.
17:15 So where do you live?
17:16 - We live in,
17:17 God called us in the mountains of Mindanao,
17:20 in the northern part of Mindanao.
17:21 - In the Philippines?
17:22 - Yes, in the Philippines.
17:23 - Okay.
17:24 And what do you do there?
17:26 - Whatever God asked us to do,
17:28 like what he said in Matthew 28:19 and 20 and Matthew 10:7,
17:35 those are the things that we're doing.
17:37 Like we have to go where God leads us
17:39 and be Christlike through His leading
17:42 and do what God asked us to do.
17:44 - Okay.
17:45 So do you have a testimony you'd like to share with us?
17:47 - Well, just lately, there was an old man with his sister.
17:52 They're all, you know,
17:53 their spouses are already all dead
17:55 and nobody took care of them, nobody's taking care of them.
17:58 And what happened was that they found out
18:01 that this old man has been paralyzed.
18:02 So God impressed our students together with your mentor
18:08 to take care of him.
18:09 And you know what?
18:10 He opened up that he was in the verge
18:12 of committing suicide.
18:13 - Oh.
18:14 - Because he felt like he was hopeless.
18:16 And by God's miraculous healing,
18:19 like for like a week only of taking care of him,
18:22 doing the new start, and last Saturday, he came to church.
18:28 - Wow.
18:28 - So it's really a good thing
18:30 - Yes.
18:31 - That we can't really take credit of.
18:33 And before I would say,
18:35 since Mike's health is really bad
18:38 and he can't anymore be useful in the mountain
18:40 because, you know, he trips easy and a lot of health issues.
18:46 So by then he's still asking God to use him.
18:49 So he's reaching out the Muslims on the west
18:51 side of Mindanao.
18:53 - Well thank you so much for sharing
18:54 and for being here today.
18:56 - Thank you, too.
18:57 - All right, let's meet this lovely couple.
18:59 What are your names?
19:00 - My name is Robbie and this is my wife Kasey.
19:03 - Okay.
19:04 And where do you live?
19:04 - We live here in Sukhothai.
19:06 - Okay.
19:07 And what do you do here?
19:08 - We have a home for children at risk,
19:12 high risk for being kind of pushed into prostitution
19:17 or human trafficking.
19:18 - Okay.
19:20 And then you have another kind of side work in the city?
19:23 - Yes, we have a church plant in the city as well.
19:26 - So do you have a testimony you'd like
19:27 to share with us today?
19:28 - I think that looking back now,
19:31 after these few years that we've been here,
19:33 the thing that strikes me most
19:35 is that when God first convicted us to leave America,
19:39 we were living a very comfortable to us life.
19:42 We have eight children and we really didn't sense our need.
19:48 And so when this impression came,
19:50 I think we thought God was calling us to go do something
19:54 and not really recognizing that God was calling us
19:57 because He wanted to do a work in us.
20:00 And I think the greatest blessing has come from walking this
20:04 out in such a messy way and realizing
20:08 that while He can use us in our mess to reach somebody else,
20:13 ultimately, He's also after our hearts.
20:16 And so the change in our children,
20:19 whether they came with us
20:20 or didn't come with us, has been profound.
20:23 And then through that process,
20:26 He's also enabled us to have daily interaction with,
20:30 we have 25 Thai children right now
20:33 and just got licensed to have 40.
20:35 - Wow.
20:37 - And so there's a work to do as He's working on us.
20:40 And I just think they go together.
20:43 And it's been such a blessing to watch that.
20:45 - Praise the Lord.
20:47 Well, thank you so much for sharing with us today.
20:48 - Thank you.
20:49 - Well thank you for having us.
20:51 - All right, let's meet this next family.
20:54 What are your names?
20:55 - I'm Melson Martino and my wife is Jonalyn.
20:58 And this is baby Kisaya.
20:59 - Kisaya, okay. - Kisaya.
21:01 - She's 30 months old.
21:02 - Okay.
21:03 So where do you live?
21:04 - We live in the central part of the Philippines.
21:07 - Okay.
21:08 And what do you do there?
21:10 - Right now, we are a JFA correspondent in the Philippines.
21:13 What we do is we bring the audience to where the mission is,
21:18 where the Bible workers are.
21:20 - Okay.
21:21 Do you enjoy that work?
21:22 - Yes.
21:23 So much.
21:23 We have been traveling
21:25 and experiencing their experience,
21:27 especially when we go to India
21:29 or Thailand and different places we see.
21:32 At the same time,
21:33 we experience what the other workers are experiencing,
21:36 especially in Asia.
21:37 - Okay.
21:39 Do you have any testimonies you'd like to share?
21:40 - Well, I have a testimony.
21:42 Sometimes we go to like places where Muslims are,
21:45 so there's some places where we go where known for pirates.
21:52 So we went to this place, this island,
21:54 we don't know anyone,
21:55 but we're with Pastor Rani
21:57 and he doesn't know anyone there also.
22:00 So we went there
22:01 and we just found out that two weeks ago
22:04 that there's two ladies were burned alive, Christian,
22:08 because they were sharing God's, you know, the gospel.
22:11 - In that village. - Yeah.
22:12 - But we were there and they welcomed us.
22:14 - Huh.
22:15 - And there's some places where we
22:19 go where there are some Muslims, we are like,
22:25 oh, this place are just, you know, peaceful.
22:26 And Pastor Rani said, oh,
22:28 there are people like behind
22:29 the houses where they have guns.
22:32 They're looking at you.
22:33 But, you know, it's very risky, but praise the Lord.
22:37 God has been protecting us.
22:39 And there's some places where we're the only Christians
22:42 that we went to the Muslim, you know,
22:44 houses or, you know, worship.
22:46 So they welcomed us because we're a Seventh Day Adventist.
22:50 Because of through Bible workers,
22:52 they're open to Christianity.
22:55 - They know the similarities.
22:57 - Yeah.
22:58 - They know that we share some beliefs.
23:00 - Yeah. - Wow.
23:01 - Praise the Lord.
23:02 Well, thank you for sharing today.
23:03 - Thank you. - Thank you.
23:06 - All right, let's meet this next couple.
23:08 What are your names?
23:10 - I am Pete.
23:11 - And I'm Jessica.
23:12 - We are the Barolo family.
23:14 Actually, we are from the Philippines,
23:16 working in Mindoro Island among the Mangyan people.
23:20 - Okay.
23:22 So you're telling me you're working there.
23:23 What are you doing?
23:25 - Primarily, that's how our ministry started,
23:28 reaching the unreached tribe of the Mangyan
23:31 through literacy centers.
23:33 - Okay.
23:34 So education?
23:35 - Education, yes.
23:36 And we have 11 literacy centers.
23:40 - Wow.
23:41 That's awesome.
23:42 So do you have a testimony you'd like to share?
23:43 - Our God opened a way wherein we can
23:47 minister to the sick people.
23:50 You see the refused of the hospitals,
23:52 the doctors would tell them, okay, terminal cases.
23:56 So when we learned, we invited to them to the house.
24:00 Okay, bring them.
24:01 Maybe the Lord will still heal your patients.
24:05 And most of them actually died
24:06 because actually, they were dying.
24:09 But one thing I can assure you is
24:11 when physical healing is impossible,
24:15 spiritual healing is not.
24:17 Many of them died peacefully.
24:19 You know, cancer,
24:20 is so something too terrible
24:23 to watch somebody dying of cancer.
24:26 But the missionaries were gathered around singing hymns
24:30 until the patient expires.
24:34 And what a joy to minister to these dying people.
24:38 You see, the doctor said their cases are hopeless,
24:42 but I believe our Master Doctor has no
24:45 impossible cases like that.
24:48 Pray for us as well.
24:49 We need more missionaries.
24:51 Those who are willing
24:52 to sacrifice whatever they have.
24:54 In the Philippines, we are not rich,
24:57 but we left everything, even our comforts there.
25:00 And I'm just so glad
25:03 that we have now missionaries with us who are
25:05 as well sacrificial as just...
25:07 They learn from what we are doing.
25:11 - Well thank you so much for being
25:13 here and sharing with us today.
25:15 - Our pleasure.
25:16 Praise God.
25:17 - So let's meet this lovely couple.
25:19 Who are you?
25:20 - My name's Jonathan.
25:21 This is my wife Hannah.
25:22 - Okay.
25:23 And where do you live?
25:24 - We live in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand,
25:26 which is about three and a half hours north of Bangkok.
25:29 - Okay.
25:30 And what are you doing there?
25:31 - We're born correspondence for "Jesus for Asia."
25:35 So we travel around and we film a lot of different projects.
25:38 - Okay.
25:40 - And then, actually, in Nakhon Sawan city,
25:41 we're there because as far as we know,
25:43 there's no other Adventists in the whole province,
25:45 which has about a million people.
25:47 And so we moved there almost three years ago,
25:49 just wanting to just let God lead.
25:52 And so praying for the people,
25:53 trying to connect with the people.
25:56 It's not like things have gone as fast
25:57 as we thought they might or we kind of hoped they would,
26:00 but God is definitely working.
26:01 - Okay.
26:02 Do you have a testimony you'd like to share?
26:04 - Sure.
26:06 So one of the ladies that we've actually gotten
26:07 to meet recently, fairly recently,
26:09 is an older lady who's in a very poor section of town.
26:13 And Jonathan actually met her while he was
26:15 prayer walking one day.
26:17 And it was really interesting
26:18 because he got talking with her about God.
26:21 And in the end of the conversation,
26:23 he actually shared some money with her
26:24 'cause she was hungry.
26:25 She didn't have money for food.
26:26 And he told her the money was from Jesus
26:28 and she cried, just so grateful.
26:30 And then he said, "I have a book for you."
26:31 And she's like, "Is it about Jesus?"
26:33 And he was like, "Yeah, it is."
26:34 And so he brought it for her and left it with her.
26:37 And we came back a few weeks later
26:38 and she's like, "Yeah, I've been reading that book.
26:40 Like Jesus created the world.
26:42 He's our Lord."
26:43 - Wow.
26:44 - We were trying to go to her
26:45 to get massages once in a while
26:47 because that's like something she could still do
26:49 to earn a little bit of money.
26:50 And then we weren't gonna be in town for a while.
26:52 And so we're like, let's just pray with her.
26:54 And so we prayed with her that God would send people
26:56 to get massages and came back like a month later
27:00 and we were like, "You wanna give us massages?"
27:02 And she's like, "Oh, I just got home.
27:03 Like, I'm so tired.
27:04 I've been massaging people all day."
27:06 And she's like, "Jesus blessed me.
27:08 I have been massaging people every day
27:10 since you prayed for me."
27:12 So we were so excited.
27:13 We had been praying for her like every day
27:16 whenever we thought of her.
27:17 We'd just pray that God would send her people
27:18 and that she would know that He was the one
27:20 providing for her and not us.
27:21 - Wow.
27:22 Well, that's neat.
27:23 Thank you so much for sharing.
27:25 - You're welcome.
27:26 - Well I hope you've enjoyed meeting our missionaries
27:28 as much as I have enjoyed introducing them to you today.
27:31 It has been such a blessing to be here together.
27:34 So many of them have told me how much they've enjoyed it.
27:38 And if you would like to learn more about any
27:40 of the missionaries you've met today on our show
27:42 and their projects,
27:43 or if you'd like to learn more
