00:21 - Hello and welcome to Jesus for Asia Now, 00:24 I'm Natalie Wood, and my husband Jon is here in the studio 00:26 with me today. 00:27 Hello, love. 00:28 - Hi darling. How are you? - I'm doing fine, 00:30 and I am excited about the miracle stories 00:33 that we have to share today. 00:35 - Yeah, yeah. Where are they from? 00:36 - From South India. - Okay. 00:37 - From evening schools. - Ah. 00:39 - Yeah, and one of our favorite places in all the world, 00:43 and there's 48 of them at the present time. 00:46 And so we're excited to share the stories 00:48 of what God is doing through the evening schools. 00:50 - Yeah. So what are we gonna watch tonight? 00:52 - Well, the first video is introducing us to a girl 00:56 who was demon possessed. 00:58 - Oh. - So let's watch that now. 01:00 - Okay. Alright. 01:02 (upbeat music) 01:10 (Mother speaking foreign language) 01:15 - [Translator 1] My husband and I loved our daughter 01:16 a lot because she was very intelligent. 01:19 She got really good grades in school every year, 01:21 and we had higher hopes for her than for our son. 01:24 She was healthy and normal, 01:26 but then when she went into 10th grade, 01:28 her behavior started to change. 01:31 (Daughter speaking foreign language) 01:37 - [Translator 2] When I was in 10th grade, 01:38 I didn't understand what was going on, 01:41 but when I went into 12th grade, 01:42 it got worse, I couldn't study well, 01:45 I couldn't do what I wanted to do. 01:47 My whole personality was changing and my behavior too. 01:50 Then I went to college and things got even worse, 01:53 and that's when I found out that I had an evil spirit. 01:58 From the time I was little, I was a very happy girl. 02:01 My family enjoyed being with me, but now 02:04 I didn't like being with people at all. 02:06 I just wanted to be alone. 02:08 Whenever I saw someone, I'd get angry 02:10 and feel like beating them. 02:12 I hated just being alive. 02:15 My parents didn't usually say anything 02:16 to me, but if they did, I got really angry with them. 02:20 I felt like the evil spirit was controlling me. 02:25 - [Translator 1] Sometimes when the evil spirit 02:26 manifested itself, 02:27 she would run around with her clothes not on properly, 02:30 and she would act very strange and wild. 02:33 This made me very afraid, and I would call my husband, 02:36 but he was afraid too. 02:39 - [Translator 2] They took me to many Hindu temples, 02:41 and sometimes people told us to go do certain rituals. 02:44 One time when we went, they put some things like ropes 02:47 and limes on my stomach 02:49 and did some sort of ritual that I really didn't like. 02:52 I wanted the evil spirit to leave me though. 02:55 So we kept doing more rituals, but none of them worked. 02:59 We even went to some Sunday keeping churches, 03:01 but that didn't help either. 03:04 - [Translator 1] I cried every day thinking 03:05 about my daughter's situation 03:06 and what would become of her. 03:08 She had been suffering for three years. 03:10 (upbeat music) 03:17 - So that's the problem. 03:19 - Yeah. - And it's surreal. 03:20 - Yeah. - Yeah. 03:22 Demon possession doesn't always manifest by acting out 03:25 and being all crazy and stuff, 03:27 it comes in and it drains your brain 03:30 and affects you, and that girl is definitely being affected. 03:33 - Yeah. But there were times when it made her act crazy. 03:36 - Yeah. - And so very concerning. 03:39 - [Jon] Yeah. - Scary, it sounds like. 03:41 - [Jon] Yeah. - And the family. 03:42 - The father was afraid. 03:43 The mother was afraid sometimes. 03:44 And didn't know what to do, and they took her to all 03:46 these different places to get rituals done 03:49 and nothing was helping. 03:50 - Yeah, that just illustrates how desperate people 03:52 are to get freed from things, you know? 03:56 Like that, like demon possession, 03:58 especially that, they'll try anything. 04:01 - [Jon] Yeah. - And they don't, 04:03 I mean, they care, 04:04 but they don't care what it costs them 04:06 because they just want their loved one back. 04:08 - Yeah, and the truth is that there's so many millions, 04:11 hundreds of millions of people that are probably 04:13 in that same situation with no solution in sight. 04:16 And they didn't have a solution in sight 04:18 until something special happened. 04:21 - Okay, well, let's watch the next video 04:23 and we'll find out what happened. 04:24 - [Jon] Okay. 04:25 (upbeat music) 04:34 (Husband speaking foreign language) 04:41 - [Translator 3] I first heard about the evening school 04:42 when the pastor asked my wife to help teach there. 04:45 She was a strong Hindu, but I was a Sunday Christian. 04:48 So I encouraged her to go saying that it would be a blessing 04:51 for her. 04:52 She did, and now she's the teacher there. 04:56 Since then, my wife 04:57 and I got baptized as Seventh Day Adventists. 04:59 (upbeat music) 05:06 Because of the demon possession that she was experiencing, 05:09 I invited my cousin to come to the evening school 05:11 for prayer. 05:12 I told her, 'Please come to my village 05:15 so I can take you to the evening school, 05:16 because the children there will pray for you." 05:19 There have been a lot of answers to their prayers. 05:22 Even my wife has experienced it. 05:27 - [Translator] So I went to my nephew's place 05:29 and in the evening we went to the evening school. 05:32 When the pastor saw me that first time, 05:33 he said, "Don't worry, we will pray to the living God. 05:38 He is mightier than the evil spirits. 05:40 He will heal your daughter." 05:42 He spoke very lovingly to us, and that really comforted me. 05:46 (Baskar speaking foreign language) 05:50 - [Translator] The girl was in a very sad situation 05:52 because of the demon possession. 05:53 But I welcomed them and we gladly prayed for them. 05:57 - [Translator 5] Even the children in the evening school 05:59 prayed for me, and it brought great relief. 06:03 - [Translator 4] But after a few days, they stopped coming. 06:06 So I called them and asked what happened? 06:08 They said that they had gone back to doing Hindu worship 06:11 because of pressure from other relatives. 06:13 I told them, you should not do this. 06:16 If you believe God, you have to believe Him 100%. 06:22 - [Translator 1] Then the pastor told me, 06:24 "If you're going to do both things at the same time, 06:26 God is not going to answer our prayers. 06:28 Give up the Hindu worship and come pray in the church. 06:31 God will heal your daughter." 06:33 So I told my husband, I'm not going to take our daughter 06:36 to the Hindu temples anymore. 06:38 My husband was a very strong Hindu 06:41 and said that I must take her to the temples. 06:43 But I told him, we're getting into big debt 06:46 and nothing is helping. 06:47 I'm going to take her to the church. 06:50 When I was leaving to go to the church, 06:52 he created a big problem and said that we couldn't go. 06:55 He and his sisters all joined together 06:56 to try to stop me once they even took our daughter 06:59 to a Hindu temple. 07:02 But I told the pastor, my desire is to become a Christian. 07:06 It was because of pressure from my husband 07:08 that I went back to the Hindu temples. 07:10 But I promised now that I'm going to come 07:12 to the evening school and I will not go back 07:14 to idol worship. 07:16 (upbeat music) 07:23 - Wow, so she's getting opposition about wanting to come 07:28 to the evening schools. 07:29 - Yeah, what these people go through 07:32 it always moves me thinking about what their lives 07:35 are like in the darkness, not knowing the truth. 07:40 We take for granted the blessings 07:42 that we have, the spiritual knowledge 07:44 that we have, the understanding 07:46 that we have, and yet we have so much more to learn 07:49 about who God is, and yet they know nothing. 07:52 - Right. - So, what a sobering thought. 07:55 - Reminds me of this Bible worker that we used to have. 07:58 He's since passed away, but back in 2004, 08:01 I filmed his testimony about he was becoming a sorcerer 08:05 and he was learning from his guru, 08:06 and he learned that the gods 08:08 that were actually affecting negatively, 08:11 the people were the ones they were worshiping. 08:15 So he learned to worship Jesus. 08:17 And the first time he tried to read a Bible, 08:19 all the pages were blank. 08:20 There were no words on the page. 08:22 So he went back to the Christian, 08:23 and says, "Hey, your Bible doesn't work." 08:25 - [Natalie] Yeah. - And the Christian says, 08:27 "Oh, Satan's blocking your eyes, so pray this prayer." 08:30 So he went home and he prayed the prayer 08:32 and all the pages had words on them. 08:34 - Yeah. - And stuff, 08:35 and so this is what people are dealing with. 08:37 It's if anybody doesn't believe there's evil spirits, 08:41 we can take him places where they will be convinced. 08:45 There are evil spirits in the world. 08:46 - Yeah, and it's really hard 08:49 to witness when somebody's under that. 08:51 - [Jon] Yes. 08:54 - Really, most of us wouldn't wanna be around, 08:57 because it is scary many times 09:00 'cause of what the evil ones make them do. 09:03 - [Jon] Yeah. - And yeah, very dark. 09:04 - Yeah, here in the Western world, 09:06 we have a hard time believing that there's spirits 09:08 and there's beings that we cannot see. 09:11 But over there, that is not an issue. 09:14 That is not a question. - [Natalie] They know. 09:16 - They know. - They know. 09:17 - Yes. Absolutely. 09:18 - Alright, well let's watch the next video. 09:20 - Okay. 09:21 (upbeat music) 09:28 - [Translator 4] One evening, as they were about to go home, 09:30 I told them that they should have worship every morning 09:32 and evening. 09:33 Otherwise, the evil spirit would come back again. 09:36 They started doing this regularly, but one day they didn't. 09:40 The very next day, the mother called 09:41 and said, "My daughter is being controlled by the demon 09:44 again, please come and pray for her." 09:47 I asked her, "Did you forget to have worship and prayer?" 09:50 She said, "Yes." 09:52 "Then kneel right away and pray." I said. 09:54 Then I also prayed for them over the phone. 09:58 - [Translator 1] After the pastor studied the Bible 09:59 with us, he encouraged us to be baptized. 10:02 I wanted to, but I was worried about what my husband 10:05 would say. 10:06 When I asked him about it. 10:08 He said, "If you are feeling better 10:10 and our daughter is being healed, then go ahead. 10:12 I will not try to stop you anymore." 10:16 So my daughter and I got baptized 10:18 and she was completely healed. 10:21 When my husband saw that, he said, 10:22 "Keep going to that church. 10:24 I won't bother you, and if any of my relatives try 10:27 to get you to come back to Hinduism, I'll take care of it." 10:30 (upbeat music) 10:38 - [Translator 2] Now I'm very happy and cheerful 10:40 and I talk to everyone. I even got my bachelor's in English, 10:43 and now I'm working in a hospital as a receptionist. 10:49 - [Translator 3] She is 100% healed. 10:52 - [Translator 4] The mother, daughter, 10:53 and son have all been baptized. 10:55 For a while, the father was holding onto Hinduism, 10:57 but now he has given up his job of playing music 11:00 at the temple and wants to get baptized very soon. 11:02 (upbeat music) 11:12 - [Translator 1] I pray all the time now, 11:13 because I've tasted how good God is. 11:15 Even as I work, I keep thanking and praising God. 11:18 (upbeat music) 11:25 I want to thank Him a million times 11:26 for healing my daughter completely. 11:28 (upbeat music) 11:42 - See, that's why these evening schools are so valuable, 11:46 is because it's not just providing food for people. 11:49 It's not just helping them physically, 11:51 but man, their lives are changed 11:52 and their whole family's lives are changed. 11:54 And what a difference it's made in that family's life. 11:58 - Right, and the blessing started because the Hindu wife 12:00 of the cousin was invited to come and be a teacher 12:04 at the school. 12:05 And then he and she were converted, and then the rest 12:09 of the family is now being blessed. 12:10 And the girl was freed. 12:12 - [Jon] Yeah. - That's so awesome. 12:13 - So cool, while Jonathan and Hannah 12:15 were filming the interviews of that family, 12:18 I was actually there. 12:20 I was in the background. 12:21 I was running one of the cameras 12:23 and I got to see and experience the piece 12:25 that's in that home now and the joy that they have. 12:28 It was so cool. 12:30 I wish people could come and experience it themselves. 12:33 - Yeah, and I love what the mother said, you know, 12:35 a million times over give my heart to Jesus. 12:38 And she loves to pray. 12:40 That's so beautiful because that's where the answer is. 12:43 - Yeah. And you see the smile on her face. 12:44 - [Natalie] Yeah. - Yeah, 12:45 that's what it's all about, is Christ brings joy 12:47 into people's lives. 12:48 - Right. Right. 12:50 - So cool. 12:51 So that's why we just love the evening schools 12:53 is there's so much more than just a program. 12:55 - Right. Right. - They actually save lives. 12:58 - Yeah. - For eternity. 12:59 - Right, well, we're gonna switch gears a little bit 13:02 and go to a different family story. 13:04 - Yeah. This next family, I enjoyed very much. 13:06 Also because they got to go there too 13:08 when they were filming it. 13:10 So I got to visit with the cows. They have tame cows. 13:12 I got to drink some of the coconut water. 13:15 You can see that the father goes all the way up the tree 13:17 and throws down some coconuts, 13:19 and I got to drink some of that and meet the family 13:21 and actually see face to face, these are real people. 13:25 They're not just a statistic, you know? 13:26 It's not just a number. They're real people. 13:29 Their lives are being affected 13:31 and being bettered, blessed in real ways, 13:37 and they get to talk about it and it's so cool. 13:39 - Alright, well let's watch the first video now. 13:41 - [Jon] Okay. 13:42 (upbeat music) 14:01 - [Translator 6] My wife and I have lived in this village 14:03 for the past 50 years, 14:04 and we have three daughters and a son. 14:07 I work as a daily laborer on a farm, 14:09 and that is how I support my family. 14:11 (upbeat music) 14:18 - [Translator 4] In the beginning, 14:19 this man would not send his children 14:20 to the evening school 14:22 because they are from a different cast. 14:24 So the teacher and I went to visit them 14:25 and explained that if their children came, 14:28 we would give them a good education 14:29 and moral training. 14:32 He told us no, but after two weeks, 14:34 he brought them to the evening school himself. 14:37 - [Translator 7] After the pastor came and invited them, 14:39 my children wanted to go, but I was hesitating 14:42 because it was at a Christian church. 14:45 Later I came to understand better what it was though, 14:48 so I let them go. 14:54 When I saw how many other children 14:55 were learning there, I wanted mine to go too. 14:59 I wasn't interested in the religious part, 15:01 but I wanted my children to have good characters. 15:05 - [Translator 6] At first, I didn't even know 15:06 about the evening school, and then I hesitated to send them. 15:09 But now that my children have gone there 15:10 and gotten a good education, it has been a big help for us. 15:14 I want them to go because we need to come up in life. 15:17 (upbeat music) 15:24 This evening school is a very good school. 15:27 What I like the most is the discipline 15:29 that has helped my children to have good characters, 15:32 and my children are now doing very well in their studies 15:34 because of the evening school. 15:38 - [Translator 7] My husband and I both work. 15:41 So the healthy food that they provide at the evening school 15:43 has been a big blessing for us. 15:45 I'm generally a cheerful person regardless of the situation, 15:49 but I'm especially happy now 15:51 because my children are being so well taken care of. 15:54 (upbeat music) 16:03 The first time I heard Jesus's name 16:05 was before I got married, but it wasn't until 16:08 after my children started going to the evening school 16:10 that I learned about who Jesus is. 16:14 I sent my children only because I wanted them to get help 16:17 in their studies, but they started learning 16:19 many other good things, 16:21 and because of that, they began to pray at home 16:23 and they taught us all of the things 16:25 that they learned as well. 16:28 - [Translator 4] Whatever Bible stories these children 16:29 learned in the evening school, 16:31 they shared with their parents 16:32 and it really touched them. 16:34 And because of that, now we are able to go to their house 16:37 and teach them from the Bible. 16:39 Instead of sending us away, they say, 16:42 "Please come and pray for us." 16:45 - [Translator 7] I've seen that some of the other parents 16:47 in this village have been converted, 16:49 but that's not why I sent my children there. 16:51 As I've seen their characters change though, 16:54 it has really touched me. 16:56 I believe in Jesus and I want to be baptized at some point. 17:01 - [Translator 6] I know that my children have accepted Jesus 17:03 and I am interested myself. 17:09 - [Translator 4] When these four children 17:10 started coming to the evening school, 17:12 they had so many problems in their home. 17:14 Their father was addicted to alcohol 17:16 and he had other bad habits, 17:18 but they have been praying for their father, 17:20 and God is answering their prayers, 17:23 I believe, and pray that within the next few months 17:26 they will fully accept Jesus as a family and be baptized. 17:29 (upbeat music) 17:41 - These families are learning about Christ. 17:43 - Right, and that's what I find so neat 17:45 is that you know, they're learning. 17:48 At first he was reluctant, you know, 17:50 like, no, my kids are not going there. 17:52 But then he started seeing the value 17:55 of what Jesus can bring to their children's lives. 17:58 Even if it starts out as the value of education, 18:00 then they start seeing a difference. 18:02 - Yes, yeah, we've got one more video 18:05 to show about this family. 18:06 - Okay. Let's watch that now. - [Jon] Okay. 18:09 (upbeat music) 18:22 - [Translator 8] When I was in seventh grade, 18:23 I found out about this evening school. 18:27 Now I'm 15 years old and I'm studying in ninth grade. 18:31 The reason I go is because of the education that they offer. 18:34 The teacher takes time to help each student. 18:37 They also give us good food to eat, which is a big thing 18:40 because both of my parents are out working all day. 18:43 (Congregants singing in foreign language) 18:51 (Priest preaching in foreign language) 18:55 I'm really enjoying studying there 18:57 because the teacher is helping me, especially with Math. 19:00 I was really struggling in Math, but now I'm doing well. 19:04 Prayer has been a big help for me in my studies too. 19:07 The thing I like the most though, 19:08 is that they teach us Bible verses and songs. 19:12 When I go there, I feel happy 19:13 because of the good things that they teach there. 19:16 And because of prayer, 19:17 I have started to see blessings in my home. 19:21 My dream is to become a doctor. 19:23 (upbeat music) 19:34 - [Translator 8] I'm 13 years old 19:35 and I'm studying in eighth grade 19:37 in a government school nearby. 19:40 As soon as I get home from school in the evening, 19:41 I go to the evening school. 19:43 If I'm struggling with my lesson, 19:45 the teacher will stay with me and help until I understand. 19:48 They also teach us how to pray and sing and dance 19:51 and how to be good people. 19:54 What I like the most is when the teacher 19:56 teaches us memory verses with actions 19:58 and also songs with actions. 20:00 She's such a nice loving teacher. 20:04 (Kids memorizing Bible in foreign language) 20:08 Before I knew Jesus, I would struggle with my exams 20:11 because all of the questions seem new to me. 20:13 But when I pray, like I learned from the evening school, 20:16 the questions on my exams are very clear to me, 20:18 and I am able to answer them. 20:20 There is so much power in prayer. 20:23 I too want to be a doctor when I am older. 20:25 (upbeat music) 20:32 - God's no respecter of persons. 20:34 You know, He sees these young people learn about Him 20:38 and they ask Him, start talking to Him, 20:40 and He starts responding. 20:41 He doesn't wait for them to change. 20:43 He starts talking to them right away 20:45 and they just fall in love with Him. 20:46 And so just a natural conversion that happens. 20:50 And it's not forced and it's not emotional. 20:53 It's just like a real life event. 20:57 They see Him working in their lives 20:59 and they just wanna follow Him. 21:00 - Yeah, it becomes an experience instead of knowledge. 21:05 - It encourages me to go back 21:06 to that kind of childlike faith. 21:08 Asking God for the little things in the day 21:10 and yeah, and just seeking after Him. 21:13 - Yeah, and it's so inspiring to hear 21:16 how they're recognizing, you know, 21:17 God makes a difference in my studies. 21:20 You know, I can remember things 21:21 when I remember to pray first. 21:24 And so it's really neat to see how God works. 21:28 Like you said, for people that have almost no knowledge 21:32 of who He is, He's answering their prayers. 21:35 And it's bringing them to Him step by step. 21:38 - Right. Praise the Lord. 21:40 We need more of these evening schools. 21:42 Did you know that there's over 400,000 towns 21:45 and villages in India in which no gospel 21:48 has been preached from any denomination. 21:50 - Wow. Yeah. - 400,000. 21:52 We need an evening school in each one of those. 21:55 We need 400,000 evening schools. 21:57 - Let alone the ones that do have a representation 22:00 of Christ. 22:00 But it's not the Full Gospel. 22:02 - Yeah. - So- 22:03 - Yeah. Yeah. 22:04 - There's a lot more need. 22:04 - There's a huge opportunity. 22:07 And the cool thing is that we send our money over there. 22:10 We don't see what happens to it. 22:13 We get a little taste, little glimpse like today. 22:16 But when we get to heaven, 22:17 what kind of stories are we gonna be hearing? 22:19 - [Natalie] Yeah. - It's gonna be worth it. 22:21 - It will be. It will be. 22:22 It's definitely treasure in heaven. 22:24 - Yes. - Yeah. 22:25 So you were there for the filming of both of these stories. 22:30 You said you ran camera earlier. 22:32 And then this next video, you were on camera. 22:36 (upbeat music) 22:41 - [Assistant] Where are we going? 22:42 - We're gonna go to an evening school now. 22:44 So an evening school is where we provide free tutoring. 22:48 So like they go to school during the day 22:50 and then we have free tutoring in the afternoon 22:52 for a couple hours, 22:53 and then we give them a free meal. 22:55 And the free meal brings them into the school, 23:00 but it also gives them, helps them to fight malnutrition, 23:06 which is a big deal in India. 23:07 So we're gonna go and check it out 23:09 and see what this school's looking like. 23:12 (upbeat music) 23:28 Okay. Here we are. The first evening school. Hello children. 23:32 (children clapping) 23:33 Hello. Praise the Lord.(laughs) 23:40 Thank you. 23:49 - [Assistant] How'd that welcome make you feel? 23:51 - Very welcome. Very loved. 23:53 And these kids are very loving children 23:56 and they had a lot of fun. 23:58 (upbeat music) 24:06 - How many members are happy today? 24:10 (attendees singing in foreign language) 24:29 Happy Sabbath. - [Kids] Happy Sabbath. 24:33 - It's nice to see you all. 24:37 Last time I was here in this church was 2020, I believe. 24:45 Thank you for the beautiful flowers. 24:49 (upbeat music) 24:53 We wish you guys the best 24:55 and we pray for you, and I hope that you study 24:57 your Bible every day. 25:09 (Jon speaks foreign languae) 25:16 Usually you think windy as cool, 25:20 but when the fan is taking wind directly from the oven, 25:24 it's not really cool. 25:26 So it's like a convection oven, 25:28 and we're in a convection oven right now. 25:31 (upbeat music) 25:38 So the welcome's over now, 25:39 and they're actually showing how they have the school 25:43 since this is Friday night. 25:45 They normally do talent night. 25:48 So it's talent show where they get up 25:51 and they recite a memory verse that they've learned during 25:53 the week, or sing a Bible song or gospel song or something. 25:59 I don't know about anyone else, 26:02 but for me, I get a lot of joy out of this, 26:05 even if not everybody converts. 26:08 Just seeing these kids that are on the edge of malnutrition 26:12 through their whole early life, seeing them eat, 26:16 seeing them sing, seeing them happy. 26:20 It's just such a mind blowing change. 26:22 If we start a evening school in a new place, 26:25 you see all the kids sitting there 26:26 and they got fear in their eyes. 26:27 It's like their eyes are big, dark, you know, 26:30 big dark corpses. 26:31 And then after a year or two you come back 26:35 and there's light. 26:37 There's light in their eyes, which makes me so happy. 26:41 It just brings so much joy. It's a lot of fun. 26:44 (kids singing in foreign language) 26:53 And it's true though, 'cause when these kids first start 26:55 coming to the evening schools, they have fear in their eyes, 26:58 but after a while it's like they have joy in their eyes. 27:00 And I've seen that when these kids accept Jesus, 27:03 He actually changes their eyes, 27:07 changes what's inside their eyes. 27:09 - Yeah. Because of the peace that He brings. 27:12 Because of the joy that He brings, 27:14 because of the calm that He brings. 27:16 - Yeah. Christ is real and He's real to those kids. 27:19 - Yeah, totally.
