I'm so glad you're here but 01:00 we've got to welcome our kids at home. I'm Aunt Francine and this 01:05 is little Ginger. We're so delighted that you're joining us 01:08 for today's special program with Jesus my Light and we are going 01:13 to talk about Jesus and how He accepted His calling. You know 01:19 Jesus calls us for special jobs to do and He wants you to live 01:23 for Him. When you do what He wants you to do we can know that 01:29 we have a promise that we've been redeemed by His love. Which 01:32 reminds me of a song, I've Been Redeemed. Would you help us with 01:35 that one. ♪ ♪ 02:25 Ohhh, are you ready for a Bible story? Yeah! Yes! 02:32 ♪ ♪ 02:36 Have you ever wondered what plans God has for your life? 02:38 I have. Sometimes we need to pray about it. But you know what 02:44 God already knew what you were going to be and how do we know 02:49 God's will? Sometimes we have to pray about it, right? And be 02:52 filled with the Holy Spirit. You know it reminds me how Jesus was 02:57 30 years old and He was filled with the Holy Spirit and I can 03:01 just imagine Jesus telling Mary, I think His father was already 03:06 dead, passed away, but I think Mary said, Oh Jesus do you have 03:11 to go now? But when Jesus was 30 years old He was filled with 03:15 that Holy Spirit and He wanted to know God's will. And I'm sure 03:22 He prayed often and said, All right, Lord, I want to put 03:26 everything in order. So He organized the carpenter shop 03:30 and He wanted to 03:32 do everything He could to help God and His mother. And so He 03:37 put everything in order and then He went to the Jordan River. Now 03:40 what's interesting is that Jesus was 30 years old and it's 03:45 because possibly, we don't know, but that is when a rabbi would 03:50 be a teacher of the law. Hmm. And so maybe God waited and 03:57 Jesus had to be cultured in his character and then when He was 04:01 30 years old was going to be a teacher of the law, right? And 04:07 so He was led there to the Jordan River and at the Jordan 04:11 River there is His cousin. Who was His cousin? Do you remember 04:14 who that is? 04:15 John the Baptist. 04:17 John the Baptist. And so John the Baptist is like, the one 04:20 who comes after me I'm not even fit to tie his shoes. Aah, can 04:26 you imagine that? He was preparing the way for, who? 04:31 Jesus. You're right. I wish I could see what that would have 04:34 been like. Would you like to see Bible pictures? Yeah I would 04:40 like to imagine what that would have been like. Let's see if I 04:43 can open this up and find, uh, oh, look at John the Baptist. 04:51 Does he look that handsome? No. No, he was pretty gruff with 04:55 rough hair and what did he have? His clothing? Do you remember? 05:00 Camel's hair and he had leather belt, right? And you know what 05:07 he ate? He ate honey and locusts Euw yuck. I don't know if I 05:14 would want to eat locusts but he had a simple life because his 05:19 job, he knew his mission. Do you know your mission? And Jesus 05:23 knew His mission too and so He was there. So when Jesus comes 05:28 up what happened? Do you know the story well? What happened in 05:32 the story? 05:33 He got baptized. 05:35 He did get baptized and so Jesus is coming to the water and John 05:38 the Baptist says no, no, no, no I'm not supposed to baptize you. 05:42 Because he recognized his cousin Jesus, right? And he said no, no 05:48 no and Jesus said, Let it be so, right? He wanted to be baptized. 05:53 Now did Jesus sin? No! He didn't sin so why would Jesus want to 05:58 be baptized? Have you thought of that? 06:01 To set an example. 06:02 As an example. You are right. He wanted to tell God, I am 06:06 completely yours, I am ready to do your will Lord. And He wanted 06:11 to dedicate His life and He was ready to begin His ministry. 06:16 Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. 06:20 This is the man I was talking about when I said there will be 06:24 one who is coming after me who is greater because He was 06:28 alive even before I was born. 06:30 Why do you come to me to be baptized? I should be baptized 06:33 by you. 06:35 Let it be this way now. We will both do whatever the Lord says. 06:39 I baptize you in the name of El Shaddai. 06:47 ♪ ♪ 06:52 You know sometimes we are in such a hurry to grow up. Do you 06:57 know that? Do you ever say, I wish I could do what so and so 07:01 can that's older than you. Oh that's just not fair. But you 07:06 what? In God's timing you will grow up to be exactly what God 07:11 wants you to be. All you have to do is live for Him. Aren't you 07:15 happy about that? Yeah. You're right. So you know it's 07:18 important. Let me see. I wanted to talk to you about something 07:23 special about baptism. Have any of you any friends that have 07:28 been baptized? Yeah. 07:30 I have been baptized. 07:32 You've been baptized. That's very special and that's a very 07:35 special day. So when you were being baptized, 07:39 did you decide that on 07:42 your own? No? Who did you talk to about that? 07:44 My parents. 07:46 Your parents and maybe your pastor. Right? And sometimes we 07:50 want to know as much as we can about God's word and what He has 07:55 for your life. Do you know His plans for your life? Do you know 07:59 studies have been made that the sooner you decide what you want 08:03 to be, even if you change what you're going to do in life, you 08:08 have a better chance of success. So even if you say, Oh I want to 08:14 be a veterinarian when I'm three years old and you change it and 08:17 you become a lawyer, that's okay but the sooner you decide what 08:21 you want to be when you get older, the more goal-oriented 08:25 you will be. Did you know that? How many of you have thought 08:29 about what you want to be? Do you know what you want to be 08:31 today? When you get older. Yeah. And if it might change, that's 08:37 okay. But see this is what God is leading you to do. The more 08:40 you do about God's work. He's guiding you and directing you 08:44 in finding His will. How do we know God's will? 08:48 By praying. 08:49 By praying. What else can we do? 08:51 By reading His Bible. 08:53 By reading the Bible. I hope we take time to read the Bible. 08:56 You know there's so many things that God puts in our path and 09:00 opportunities that we can learn from Jesus. You know. I don't 09:05 know but, what came down, how did God speak to the people that 09:14 were there at the Jordan River seeing Jesus baptized? A dove. 09:17 A dove. We say the Spirit like a dove. And it said, This is my 09:21 beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. I want Jesus to say He 09:27 is so well pleased with the work He's asked me to do. Do you know 09:32 here's a picture of a dove. You want to come and see, come close 09:34 so you can see the picture. Here's a dove and do you know 09:39 doves breathe like a dog, they kind of pant, ha, ha, ha, and 09:45 what's also interesting is that they don't drink like most birds 09:49 where the drink from water and the drink for example and then 09:53 go up. But doves they actually have like a straw and they whew 09:57 suck it up. Did you know that? No!. I'm so glad that God talks 10:04 about the dove and we think about the Holy Spirit when we're 10:07 thinking of a dove. Don't you think so? Yeah! You know, how do 10:11 we know steps to do God's will? We want to make sure we study 10:16 the Bible, we talked about that. And pray and what else can we 10:20 do? Set goals. Every day. It's important to set goals even 10:25 every day. Like today I want to get this done, Lord, but before 10:30 I even do that even before you get out of your bed what should 10:34 we be doing. Praying. Praying. Say, Lord, what would you have 10:37 me do today? Because I want to be about your business. I want 10:42 to do your will in everything that I do. And you're right. We 10:47 want to be successful. Daily ask God to live for us. So are you 10:52 ready for some questions? Yeah! Yes. All right, here we go. 10:58 I've got to look at my notes here. Okay, don't say the answer 11:02 yet. We're going to do sign language. You know A, do it with 11:05 me, B and C. So here it is. How old was Jesus when He began His 11:11 ministry? Was it A - 20 years old; B - 30 years old; or C - 40 11:20 years old? How old was Jesus? B! B - You're right. Jesus was 11:26 30 years old. Now, who baptized Jesus? Was it A - Job; B - John 11:37 the Baptist; or C - Moses? B! B - You're right again. John the 11:44 Baptist. I can't get anything past you folks and I'm sure you 11:48 at home, you know all these answers as well. Why was Jesus 11:52 baptized? Was it A - To be an example; B - Because Jesus had 11:59 sinned; or C - To see John the Baptist? A! A - You're right, to 12:06 be an example and to begin His new life. Wow! I want to begin a 12:12 new life even every day. I have to sometimes say Lord not my 12:19 will but your will be done. And don't be in such a hurry to be 12:24 baptized. I hope you do want to be baptized and look forward to 12:28 it, because that is going to be a special day. And I know God 12:31 would love you to give your heart to Him because He loves 12:35 you with the utmost love. Doesn't He? Yeah! He wants you 12:40 to just love Him and just listen to His voice and 12:42 have Him in your 12:44 heart daily. Would you do that for me? Yes. I hope we can just 12:49 focus on Jesus. It is our prayer that everyone of us, can we pray 12:54 for Jesus to help you grow just to be like Him? Can we do that 12:59 real quick? Dear heavenly Father, thank you 13:01 so much that we can come to you and that you can live in our 13:04 hearts. Help us to know your will because I know you have big 13:08 plans for each of us to do your will. Help us to shine for you. 13:12 We love you Jesus. 13:13 Thank you for being a part of what we are doing because we 13:18 want to shine for Jesus, don't we. Yeah! So keep trying to find 13:23 those goals every day at school. Sometimes it's just practicing 13:27 your spelling words or saying your memory verse.
