Oh I'm glad to see you today. 00:50 Oh, hey. It's so wonderful to be in our tree house to learn about 00:57 Jesus. And we'd like to welcome you at home. Welcome to Jesus my 01:03 Light. I'm Aunt Francine and this is little Ginger. And she 01:06 likes learning a little bit about Jesus too. I really think 01:09 she knows a little bit. But today we're going to talk about 01:11 a special person that Jesus spent some time with. 01:16 He thought he was kind of going incognito and going behind in 01:20 the dark. But you know what? Jesus knows your heart and He 01:24 wants to invite you to follow Him. And that reminds me that He 01:28 can help us always and is able to do anything that we can learn 01:34 from Him. Are you ready to learn from Jesus? Yeah! Yes! He's able 01:38 to turn your life around and make it so much better. That 01:42 reminds me of a song He's Able. Would you like to sing it with 01:46 us? Yeah! Yes! Yes let's go. ♪ ♪ 02:36 Thank you, that was wonderful. God is able to carry you through 02:42 anything. There's nothing that Jesus hasn't gone through and He 02:46 knows what you need before you can even ask. So trust Him and 02:51 pray that He can help you through anything. Are you ready 02:54 for our Bible story? Yeah! Yes! 03:00 Well it was near the end of the day and Jesus does what He 03:04 normally does. Where do you think He was going? Up on the 03:10 mountain to pray to His heavenly Father. He was on the Mountain 03:13 of Olives and there He was going to pray. And there somebody 03:20 comes quietly over. After all he was a notable man and everybody 03:26 knew him in the city and knew that he was righteous man. 03:31 And he was one of the priests. And he likely saw Jesus doing 03:35 wonderful things. And he probably even saw Him, Jesus, 03:40 in the temple while he was there And so, Nicodemus is now very 03:45 curious to find out who Jesus is He was searching for truth. 03:50 I hope that you're searching for truth, because we can find out 03:53 so much in our Bible when we read it. And you know he's there 03:59 and he has this curiosity. He wants to find out who this Jesus 04:02 is, a little bit more about Him and so he was searching for that 04:05 truth. And Jesus was talking about being born again. Do you 04:10 know what that means, being born again? What does that mean? 04:14 And Nicodemus was like well of course Jesus is not talking 04:18 about going back into my mommy's tummy. Jesus must be talking 04:21 about something else but I don't understand. 04:23 Does that mean baptism? 04:25 He's talking about being born in the Holy Spirit, you're right. 04:29 And then Jesus is talking about the Holy Spirit. And can you see 04:33 the wind? You know, can you see the wind? No, but you can see 04:37 the effects of the wind, right? Can you see wind? Really, How? 04:42 I mean when wind chimes blow you can see it blowing but you don't 04:47 usually see the wind. And so Jesus is saying, Well the Holy 04:52 Spirit comes where it pleases. And you know what? Nicodemus 04:56 didn't necessarily change his heart right away. But in time, 05:01 as time was going on, he was influencing the other priests 05:06 and he was saying, You know what let's do this; Oh let's give it 05:10 some time; let's learn more about this Jesus. And so he 05:14 would constantly...the Holy Spirit kept working on his heart 05:18 really working on his heart. And the more he was seeing Jesus 05:22 and I think he wanted to follow Jesus more and more. He wanted 05:25 to learn truth. And I think since he was reading his Bible 05:30 he was saying Jesus has got to be the Savior of the world. 05:33 I know it. And as time went on you know what, he dedicated his 05:39 whole life to Jesus. The Holy Spirit was working on him and it 05:44 even took several years and even after Jesus's death we find out 05:47 that he likely sold all his possessions and gave it to those 05:53 that needed it most. Wow! Jesus saw Nicodemus's heart. Don't you 05:59 want Jesus to search your heart Yeah! and have that friendship 06:03 with you? He wants to have that personal relationship with you. 06:07 If you just open up your heart to Jesus. He wants you to spend 06:13 time learning about His love. And so you know, that gives me 06:17 some hope because Jesus was always about helping others. 06:20 Don't you like helping others? Yeah! How do you feel when you 06:24 help others. Good. Do you feel good? Yeah. Yeah you feel 06:28 wonderful and you know what Jesus was all about helping. 06:31 And so He was looking on the inside of the heart. It wasn't 06:34 what other appearances...and He Jesus was very sensitive to 06:40 Nicodemus. He was very sensitive to Nicodemus because He knew 06:43 that Nicodemus was trying to hide in the darkness and didn't 06:47 want the other priests to know what was happening. But you know 06:52 what? Jesus honored his wishes and still let the Holy Spirit 06:56 work with him. Do you want to have the Holy Spirit work with 07:00 you. Yeah! Yes! I hope so. It's very important that we can use 07:05 that. And can God trust you to be helpful. Are there times when 07:10 you see somebody in need and can lend a hand? Yeah! Yes! 07:15 Sometimes there could be an old person next to you in the 07:17 neighborhood and you can say I can shovel your driveway or here 07:21 let me help you carry the groceries. Don't even wait for 07:25 your mom to say...Say mom I'll set the table for you today. 07:29 Don't wait for your mom to ask for your help. Find that need 07:32 and be helpful. And that's exactly what Jesus knew. He knew 07:36 it was more than just the curiosity that Nicodemus had. 07:40 He knew He had to reach his heart and that's where Jesus can 07:44 depend on you to be helpful. Can you do that? Yeah. Are you 07:50 interested in knowing about another animal? Would you like 07:53 to come around. Here are animals Okay. Here's the animals...Do 08:02 you like dolphins? Dolphins have been known to help others. But 08:05 there's time when a dolphin even goes to somebody like in 08:08 Hawaii and they have a net wrapped around its snout and 08:12 ask for help. So they know when to be helpful and to keep the 08:18 sharks away, they come play with swimmers that are in danger when 08:22 there are sharks around. But there's other times that these 08:26 dolphins also ask for help. Do you know who you can ask for 08:30 help? Jesus. Who can help you? You're right. So we need to 08:34 be...Let's look at our Bible scene. I want to be like 08:39 Nicodemus. I want to have my heart open and learn from Jesus. 08:44 ♪ ♪ 08:57 Rabbi, Rabbi. ♪ ♪ 09:06 We know that you're a teacher come from God, for no one can do 09:08 these signs unless God is with him. 09:11 Most assuredly I say unto you, unless one man is born again 09:16 he cannot see the kingdom of God 09:18 How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time 09:23 in his mother's womb and be born 09:25 Most assuredly I say unto you, Unless one is born of the Spirit 09:30 and the water he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which 09:34 is born of the flesh is flesh and which is born of the Spirit 09:39 is Spirit. Do not marvel at this You must be born again. The wind 09:46 blows where it wishes and you cannot tell where it's coming 09:50 from or where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the 09:54 Spirit. 09:56 How can this be. 09:57 Aren't you the teacher of Israel How do you not know these things? 10:01 Most assuredly I say unto you we speak what we know and 10:06 testify what we have seen. And you don't want to receive our 10:11 heavenly witness. If I have told you earthly things and you would 10:15 not believe how when I tell you heavenly things? No one has 10:19 ascended to heaven but the Son of Man who has come down from 10:24 heaven. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even 10:28 so must the Son of Man be lifted up that whoever believes in Him 10:34 shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God so 10:40 loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever 10:46 believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For 10:53 God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world 10:56 but the world through Him might be saved. 11:01 Nicodemus was searching and he wanted to find Jesus. Do you 11:07 want to find Jesus? Yeah! Yes! And he said, Most assuredly. Do 11:10 you know what most assuredly means? It means for certain. 11:15 We know for certain that Jesus reigns in our hearts. So are you 11:20 ready for some Bible questions? Yeah! Yes! All right let's see 11:25 if you were paying attention at home too. Okay here we go. 11:30 On which mountain did Nicodemus find Jesus? Was it A - Zion; 11:38 B - Sinai; or C - Mt. of Olives. 11:42 Which one is it. C! Did you get it. C! C - Mt. Olives. How about 11:46 question number two. What does assuredly mean? A - For certain; 11:52 B - It might not happen; or C - I'm not sure. A. A is for 12:03 certain. What did Jesus compare the Holy Spirit to? A - Fields 12:08 of grass; B - The sea; or C - The wind. C! How about you, did 12:15 you get it at home? If you said C - The Wind, you're right. It 12:21 doesn't matter. We can't judge other people can we? Can we see 12:24 the Holy Spirit is working on somebody's heart? No. It's not 12:27 our business to worry about what somebody else is doing. All you 12:30 need to do is to share who Jesus is. Are you willing to do that? 12:35 Are you willing to share who Jesus is and share the love of 12:39 Him and be as helpful as you can? Whether it's at school in 12:45 helping your teacher or maybe it's your parents. No matter 12:49 what can Jesus depend on you to be helpful? Yeah, Yes. Yes. And 12:54 search for ways that you can find to be helpful because you 12:57 know sometimes people might not say that they need help. But 13:02 sometimes you can look in their eyes or see somebody crying. And 13:07 can you give an encouraging word sometimes? Yeah Mm-muh. Yeah can 13:11 we depend on you to do that too? Yeah. We want to live for Jesus 13:15 in everything that we do. Are you willing to live for Jesus 13:20 today? I hope so. And you can read more about this story in 13:24 John 3 verses 1-21.
