No. 02:26 It's a job or work that someone does. 02:30 And back in Bible times, 02:31 there were some pretty dangerous ones. 02:33 I mean, if you were a soldier, that would be pretty dangerous. 02:37 How many of you would have been soldiers 02:39 back in the Bible times? 02:41 Look at all those hands. 02:43 That would have been dangerous, though. 02:44 Oh, here's another dangerous job. 02:46 How about deep sea fishing? 02:49 Whoa! 02:52 You would do that? 02:53 Wow, that was one dangerous job. 02:56 Okay. 02:57 Another dangerous job back in the days 02:59 was being a shepherd. 03:02 Oh, yeah. 03:03 Did you know that? 03:05 You know, most people think of Shepherds as, 03:08 you know, having these nice, cute little lambs 03:10 and taking them to the river to drink water 03:13 and taking them to the green pastures 03:15 to eat grass and leading them down the right path. 03:20 But shepherds have to protect their sheep 03:23 from big bad bears. 03:26 I mean 'cause it was, there were bears 03:28 all over the place trying to get the sheep. 03:31 These bears were big and ugly and huge. 03:36 Whoa! 03:37 No. 03:43 Break it up, guys. Break it up. 03:44 Come on we got to get back to the story. 03:46 Wait. 03:47 Wait, is that Neto? 03:49 Neto! 03:51 Neto, you almost gave me a heart attack. 03:55 Wow. 03:59 Oh, man, my heart is just beating really fast. 04:02 I wanna just bring the story alive. 04:04 Oh, brother. 04:06 Where were we? 04:07 Referees, thank you for saving my life. 04:12 Neto. 04:13 Almost that you. 04:15 Where were we? Where were we? 04:16 Oh, yes. 04:17 Shepherds protected sheep 04:19 from real big, bad bears. 04:24 And so it was a very dangerous job. 04:26 And one day David was out taking care of a sheep 04:30 like he did every day. 04:32 And one day he heard a voice 04:34 calling him saying, "David, come home. 04:39 I need you please." 04:41 It was David's dad. 04:43 You know what his name was? 04:44 What was his name? 04:46 Jesse was his name. 04:48 Jesse called David home. 04:49 And David came racing to the tent 04:51 'cause he was obedient. 04:53 And he came and said, "Dad, what do you need? 04:55 What do you need? I'm here." 04:57 And the father said this. 04:58 He said, "Listen, your brothers are out in the battlefield." 05:04 How many brothers did David have? 05:06 Who remembers that? 05:08 Not one, not two, but seven. 05:11 Leah is right. 05:13 Good job, Leah. 05:14 Seven brothers. 05:15 And the father said this. "Listen. 05:17 Listen, I'm worried. I'm worried." 05:19 He said, but they are out in the battlefield 05:22 facing the Philistines... 05:25 facing the Philistines. 05:26 And I need you to go down up to the mountains 05:29 just before the valley and you need to go there 05:32 and take them a sack lunches 05:34 'cause they haven't eaten for a while 05:35 and they need some energy to eat and be ready to battle. 05:39 And so would you please take them a lunch?" 05:42 And so David took the lunches, 05:45 and he headed up the mountain to meet with his brothers. 05:48 When he got there, there was... 05:50 there was a lot of tension. 05:52 There was a lot of talking. 05:53 Soldiers were going all over the place. 05:55 And he says, what's going on, 05:56 what's going on? 05:58 And they pointed to the valley. 05:59 And they said that is going on. 06:03 And everyone looked and David couldn't believe his eyes. 06:07 There in the valley was a man that was known 06:11 as the champion of the Philistines. 06:14 This man's name, I think, you know, it was? 06:17 Goliath! 06:19 Goliath. 06:21 Now Goliath was huge. 06:22 And Neto and I were thinking, 06:24 how can we illustrate how huge this giant was. 06:27 Neto, why don't you tell us? 06:29 His head would be all the way up there. 06:31 That's right. 06:33 It's really tall, huh? 06:34 And that is nine feet. 06:36 Nine and a half feet. 06:37 Nine and a half to be precise, nine and a half feet. 06:41 Guys, look at that. 06:42 Really tall. Imagine. 06:44 Imagine a man, a giant that tall. 06:48 And David... 06:49 David was... 06:50 He was much smaller, but he had a lot of courage. 06:54 What does courage mean? 06:55 Courage means that we are not, what? 06:58 Afraid. Afraid. 07:00 And David was a man full of courage. 07:03 And he went up to that giant with only, with only a staff, 07:09 a pouch, inside a pouch were five stones 07:14 and a sling over his shoulder. 07:16 That's all he had. 07:18 And he came up to that giant 07:19 and the giant looked down on him 07:21 and started laughing saying... 07:24 Neto, I bet you can do a better giant laugh. 07:28 How did giants sound, Neto? 07:30 Give us a good one, Neto. 07:38 Neto, this was a big nine and a half foot, 07:43 muscular, strong giant. 07:46 Give us... give us more of a giant, 07:49 you know, laugh. 07:52 Yeah, that's more like it. 07:54 That's more like it. That's more like it. 07:56 And he said, "Am I a dog 07:59 that you come to me with sticks." 08:02 And David said, 08:04 "I don't have a sword or spear or javelin. 08:09 But I come in the name of the Lord of hosts." 08:15 And with that he reached into his pouch 08:17 and pulled out a smooth stone. 08:21 He put it in that sling. 08:23 He put it tight in that sling and then he started swinging 08:27 that sling as fast as he could. 08:31 Show me how do you think he did that? 08:33 What do you think? What do you think? 08:35 How about sound effects? 08:36 Two, two, two, two, two, two, three, two, one. 08:41 Boom! 08:42 Boy, good thing, 08:44 they don't have real stones, Neto. 08:45 We'd be in big trouble if we did. 08:47 And so he threw that stone. 08:49 And that stone went full speed in the air 08:53 and it hit the giant right between the eyes. 08:59 What an amazing... amazing hit. 09:02 But you know what, though? 09:03 David was not alone. 09:06 Who was with David? 09:07 God. God. God. 09:10 And God was giving him all the ability and strength 09:13 to do what he did. 09:14 And that giant was hit between the eyes 09:17 and that champion, that big champion fell down. 09:23 And when he hit that ground, Neto, 09:24 I bet that ground just shook a little bit 09:27 'cause he was a big man. 09:28 Big dude. 09:29 And David ran up to that giant came down on his chest 09:34 and he raised his hands up 09:36 and the Israelites said, "Victory, victory." 09:41 And the Philistines, can you imagine their faces? 09:44 Yeah, I can. 09:46 Like I saw a ghost. Yeah. 09:48 And they just ran away. 09:50 They ran away as fast as they could 09:52 and Israel were champions for God. 09:55 You know what, boys and girls? 09:57 That's one amazing story. 09:58 And when we come back from our break, 10:00 we're gonna quiz you to just see, 10:02 just how much you remember. 10:04 Don't go away. 10:05 We'll be right back. |
