All right. 02:05 All right. 02:06 Tell us a story. Tell us a story first. 02:07 The story is quite intense, Neto, quite intense. 02:10 You see, the nation of Israel, the Old Testament tells us, 02:15 they often fought in battles, 02:17 in many battles against many enemies, 02:21 and they use many types of weapons. 02:24 I wonder, Neto, 02:26 what kind of weapons do you think they used? 02:28 Grenades, tanks, 02:30 and then they had like those big helicopters... 02:31 Tanks? Did you say tanks? 02:33 Yeah. 02:34 Grenades? Uh-huh. 02:36 Come on, guys, is he right? 02:38 No! 02:39 No! 02:41 Of course, they didn't use that, Neto. 02:42 They used swords 02:45 and spears and axes. 02:50 And how about slingshots? 02:53 Slingshots? 02:54 Bows! Bows and arrows. 02:56 Boy, those are the weapons they used, Net, 02:58 see we got sharp kids here. 03:00 These guys are sharp. 03:02 They sure didn't have helicopter. 03:03 And you at home, I'm sure you are coming up 03:04 with the same answers. 03:06 Of course, they used swords and slingshots and spears. 03:08 But in one particular battle, 03:12 God came up with a completely different plan. 03:18 Completely different. 03:20 You see, what happened was, in Joshua Chapter 6, 03:25 this is that story of a battle 03:27 that was to take place in a place called Jericho. 03:32 The Israelites had just entered into Canaan, 03:35 and they were about to engage in the first battle 03:39 in the Promised Land. 03:41 And they were all worked up, 03:43 and they came to this massive city. 03:46 And, Neto, believe me, this place was massive. 03:50 How big? 03:52 The walls of Jericho were so huge 03:53 that no ladder in the world 03:56 can get to the top of these walls. 03:58 They were just massive. Massive. 04:00 Yes, referee, 04:01 we have a question here or a comment. 04:03 Could you illustrate like how big? 04:05 Oh, boy! Oh, boy! 04:07 Can you even see the top of this ceiling, everyone? 04:10 Can you see it? Can you see it? 04:12 Well, this, I mean, this is just one, one port... 04:15 I mean, the wall would have been like 04:17 four times higher than this, four times higher. 04:20 Like a big building. 04:22 Like a big building, like a big building. 04:24 And so the Israelites came up to Jericho, 04:27 and they're like, "What's the plan?" 04:31 And Joshua said, "Don't worry, everyone. 04:33 God gave me instructions. 04:35 And this is what we're gonna do." 04:38 He said, "We're gonna get a group of priests. 04:41 I want to get seven priests, seven. 04:44 And we're gonna give each one of them a trumpet, 04:47 seven priests, seven trumpets, 04:49 and then we're gonna bring the Ark of the Covenant, 04:52 which was a symbol of God's presence." 04:56 And so you got the seven priests 04:58 with seven trumpets, 04:59 the Ark of the Covenant followed by hundreds, 05:03 who knows, how many, Neto, many, many armed men. 05:07 And God said, "This is what I want you to do. 05:09 You're gonna go around the city of Jericho for six days, 05:15 once a day, 05:17 you're gonna go around the city of Jericho 05:20 for six days." 05:21 And can you imagine? 05:23 They started doing this going around the city. 05:26 Can you imagine, Neto, 05:27 what the people of Jericho 05:30 were thinking when they saw this? 05:31 They were looking down on them, and they're like, 05:33 "Yeah, these people are crazy." 05:35 "They're crazy! 05:36 They're crazy! What? 05:38 They're going in circles around us. 05:39 What do they think they are doing?" 05:42 But were they doing something that they came up with? 05:46 Was it their idea or was it God's idea? 05:48 God's! 05:50 They were obeying God, they were obeying God. 05:52 And sometimes, boys and girls, 05:54 we got to obey God even if it appears 05:57 to be the silliest thing you're doing. 06:00 It's okay. 06:01 If God tells you to do it, you got to do it. 06:03 And so the Israelites went around Jericho 06:05 once a day for six days. 06:07 And then on the seventh day, Neto, on the seventh day, 06:10 God had a different strategy. 06:13 What was it? 06:14 He said, "Now on the seventh day, 06:16 I want you to go around Jericho, 06:18 not once but seven times, 06:22 all around Jericho seven times. 06:25 And then after seven times, you're gonna shout, 06:28 and Joshua is gonna say, 06:31 'The Lord has given us the city!' 06:34 And then you're gonna take those trumpets, 06:36 and you're gonna blow those trumpets, 06:39 and something amazing will happen." 06:42 And so the Israelites said, "Okay, God, whatever you say." 06:46 Can you imagine? 06:47 You know, let's illustrate this, Neto. 06:49 What do you say? Let's illustrate this. 06:50 Sounds dangerous. Yeah. 06:52 Come here, Neto. Come here. 06:53 Come out here with me for a moment. 06:56 Let's imagine that Neto 06:58 is this massive, massive city, all right? 07:01 I'm gonna need three volunteers. 07:03 Let's see, Abigail, Elijah, Abby. 07:06 Why don't you come up and join us here for a moment. 07:10 And, Neto, come here. 07:12 Come here, Neto. 07:13 What do you got there? Oh, yeah. 07:15 I have some trumpets. 07:16 You got the little trumpets. 07:18 All right, each one of you gets your little trumpet. 07:21 There you go. There you go. 07:23 All right, you're armed with your trumpets. 07:25 All right? 07:27 Neto, you're gonna stand right here. 07:28 I'm a massive city. 07:30 And, Abby, Elijah, and Abigail, you're gonna stand around Neto. 07:35 And on the count of three, you're gonna march to the beat. 07:38 We're gonna go left, right, left, right. 07:40 We're gonna go... Which way? 07:42 Which way? Seven circles... 07:43 That way? This way. You're gonna... 07:44 Elijah, you're gonna follow Abigail. 07:46 Abigail, you're gonna follow Abby. 07:47 Abby, you're gonna follow Elijah. 07:48 And you're gonna go in circles 07:50 seven times around Neto, seven times. 07:52 And at the seventh time, I want all the boys and girls, 07:56 including those who are watching from home, 07:58 I want you to shout as loud as you can. 08:03 As loud as you can. 08:05 And then the three of you are gonna blow your trumpets, 08:08 and we're gonna illustrate 08:10 what must have happened on that day. 08:12 So are you ready, everyone? 08:14 All right. 08:15 Hey, you guys help me. 08:17 Let's count as they go around in circles. 08:19 Ready, go! 08:21 Left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right. 08:24 One. 08:25 One. 08:27 Left, right, left, right. Two! 08:29 And they went faster and faster. 08:31 Left, right, left, right. 08:32 Three! Faster and faster. 08:35 Left, right, left, right. 08:36 Four! 08:38 Five! We're almost there. 08:40 We're almost there. 08:41 Six! 08:42 And after six times, 08:44 they went one final time, seven. 08:46 And then the Israelites shouted... 08:52 "And the Lord has given you the city." 08:56 Trumpets. 08:57 Trumpets. 09:01 Harder, harder, harder. 09:02 Blow it. 09:04 Oh, boy! 09:05 Oh, boy! Wow! 09:07 Hey, let's give our volunteers a hand. 09:09 Good job, guys. Good job. 09:10 Neto, Neto, what's wrong? 09:12 What's wrong, Neto? 09:14 Neto, are you okay? 09:17 Neto, what happened? 09:18 I don't wanna go to school today? 09:20 Ah! What happened to you? 09:22 I don't know. 09:23 Get up, Neto! Get up! 09:25 What happened? 09:27 Wow, listen, if Neto fell down, can you imagine these walls, 09:30 these massive walls came tumbling down, 09:33 all the way down 09:34 and the Israelites were victorious. 09:37 They shouted a shout of victory, 09:39 praising God for delivering, 09:41 for giving Jericho into their hands. 09:44 You know what, boys and girls, 09:46 and those who watching us at home, remember this, 09:48 victory belongs to the Lord. 09:51 He is the one who fights for you. 09:53 There is no need to be afraid when God is by your side. 09:57 And so, boys and girls, that's our story for today. 10:00 And we're gonna come right back after the break, 10:02 and we're gonna quiz you and test you 10:04 to see how much of the story you remember. 10:07 We'll be right back. |
