00:01 If you've just joined us on Cook:30 for Kids,
00:03 we're having so much fun in the kitchen. 00:05 We have Lucy from Arkansas and Jaylee from Iowa. 00:09 What's on the menu, guys? 00:11 Mexican stuffed baked sweet potatoes 00:14 with fresh maple salad. 00:16 And for dessert, we have berry berry banana ice cream. 00:20 The salad has maple syrup. 00:22 It does. 00:23 You had to see all the stuff, 00:25 they can taste really, really good. 00:26 So this is the fastest salad 00:28 you're probably even making in your life 00:29 and it's very, very quick and delicious. 00:32 So we just got like just kind of mixed blend 00:34 of lettuce leaves, 00:35 they call it spinach and spring mix. 00:37 You can buy this at any supermarket, 00:39 any mix you want that you like. 00:41 And we're just going to get some of the stuff here. 00:43 Look at that, it's just... 00:44 It's just lovely fresh leaves. 00:46 All over the kitchen. All over the kitchen. 00:49 Over the counter. 00:50 We're going to put it in there, just a couple of handfuls. 00:53 It is looking a little bit down 00:55 so into that, just get some water. 00:57 So I'll get just a little bit of water 00:59 and sprinkle it over 01:02 and just give it a bit of a finger around 01:03 and look it just brings it to life. 01:05 Just a little bit of water 01:07 can just make a little bit of difference. 01:08 So there we go. 01:10 This is some nice fresh salad. 01:12 So... You ask for anymore. 01:14 So, Jaylee, if you can cut some of these cherry tomatoes, 01:17 so just cut them in half. 01:18 I've got a little knife here for you. 01:20 Please. That will be good. 01:21 And they are the easiest to cut between your fingers, 01:22 so just cut like that. 01:24 Wonderful. 01:25 If you can cut some of them up, it'll be great. 01:29 So very, very simple salad. 01:33 Look at that. So lots of color. 01:35 We've got the green, we've got the red, 01:37 we've got the yellow here, so lots of colors there. 01:39 So if you want to sprinkle those on top of that... 01:43 Just scatter them over there. 01:44 Do that from a height if you want, a bit over high 01:46 they kind of fall naturally nice. 01:48 You don't want to kind of place things, 01:49 just let things fall naturally, they generally look better. 01:53 So that's the only vegetables in the salad, 01:54 just tomatoes and lettuce 01:55 and this maple lime dressing, 01:58 it isn't actually dressing, it's even easier than that, 02:01 is a really great combination. 02:02 You've got the nice lime kind of bitterness, 02:05 and then you got the beautiful sweetness 02:06 from the maple syrup. 02:08 That's an interesting combination. 02:09 Yeah, it is. 02:11 You're gonna pour some maple syrup over 02:12 and we just want to drizzle over, 02:13 so we're going to do a little bit of a drizzle. 02:16 Yup. 02:18 Just drizzle over, just, yup, lovely, not to move. 02:20 Keep going just shake it back and forth. 02:23 And if you can squeeze some lime over it... 02:25 Some lime juice. 02:28 Lovely. 02:29 So just that simple lime juice and maple syrup combination, 02:33 it just brings the vegetables alive, 02:35 so it's a really very delicious salad. 02:37 Thank you very much. It's all done. 02:39 Looks good so far. It's great. 02:40 You can throw that on the table, Lucy, 02:42 that will be great. 02:44 So now we are going to come into our final one 02:46 which is probably you'll be looking forward to, 02:48 is the berry berry banana ice cream. 02:51 So you'll need some frozen bananas 02:54 and some berries from the freezer. 02:55 No, not frozen bananas. So, yeah, frozen. 02:58 Is there frozen bananas? Yes, we're using frozen ones. 03:00 Oh, yeah. 03:02 These frozen ones in the freezer, some bananas, 03:03 so they're nice and hard 03:05 and make it really lovely and creamy. 03:07 So we'll just put this up here so you can see what's going on. 03:11 Okay, I just did that as I jumped. 03:14 Close the door. 03:15 So as you see we've got some bananas in here. 03:17 So, they are frozen 03:19 and we take the skins off and freeze them. 03:20 Got to put them in there. 03:21 We want two bananas, 03:23 which is about that much 03:24 and we want to put some berries in 03:26 so just a little bit of each. 03:27 Yup, so we got some blueberries. 03:29 A bit more, a bit more. 03:32 Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, 03:34 keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going. 03:36 Yup, that'll be enough. 03:37 Probably half a cup each 03:39 and do the same with these ones here. 03:40 So you can rip that one open and I will rip this one open. 03:44 So we got strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. 03:47 You can use any bananas if you want. 03:50 And all we do is just blending it in the blender. 03:52 You'll need to help me. 03:54 We'll use the knife, that will make it easy for you. 03:57 There you go. 03:59 Throw some of them in. 04:00 Throw them in the kitchen. 04:04 Yup, bit more 04:05 and we're going to add some agave nectar. 04:08 Agave. 04:09 Oh, Agave, sorry, yes, I think I said wrong. 04:11 Some agave nectar. 04:12 You can use honey if you want, 04:14 so that will be probably one or two tablespoons 04:15 depending on how your fruit are, 04:16 and we are just gonna mix it up 04:18 and see what happens. 04:26 Up for about two minutes. 04:28 I'm just going to add a little bit of water, 04:30 so just add a little bit of water 04:31 just to help it get processed. 04:34 Just to give it some extra thing 04:36 and after about a minute 04:38 this will turn into a very soft ice cream. 04:42 And there you go eventually. 04:44 A bit of patience required, 04:45 it sounds a bit of water end up with. 04:48 Check this out. 04:50 Wow. What that's look like? 04:52 It looks like ice cream. Exactly. And it's just fruit. 04:55 If you can get some mint from the fridge, Lucy, 04:57 and if you can grab those jars across 04:59 and we'll start to spoon it out. 05:03 So garnishing is really important so have this on. 05:06 So we have some nice jars here. 05:09 We'll just probably just spoon it out. 05:12 I think it's good enough for us to eat. 05:13 I think it's good enough too. 05:15 We'll just spoon out some like that. 05:18 You can keep it in the freezer for, 05:19 you know, perhaps half an hour but if you leave it, 05:21 because it does not have antifreeze or chemicals in it 05:23 like ice cream. 05:25 You basically need to eat it straightaway 05:26 because if it's in the freezer it will get hard. 05:28 But isn't it an ice cream? 05:29 It is but it will go hard in the freezer, because it's... 05:31 It's fresh fruit. 05:33 Fresh fruit, it will get hard. 05:34 So just present it nicely like that. 05:37 If I make this at home, no one will believe me. 05:43 We can make it and not tell them 05:45 and afterwards like if they say I don't like fruit 05:47 but you just ate lots of fruit. 05:48 Really. 05:50 Exactly. 05:51 I'll do that for you. 05:52 Put some nuts, if you want to sprinkle some chopped nuts on 05:55 and if, Lucy, you can find four nice little mint leaves 05:57 from there, and we'll garnish as well. 05:59 So green is a really good color. Lovely. 06:01 Oh, lovely, perfect garnish, 06:03 just a sprinkle of chopped nuts. 06:05 I think it's a mixture of nuts 06:06 but peanuts or any kind of favorite nut is nice. 06:08 We'll try and not put up like this 06:10 so it kind of doesn't cover too much, 06:11 see if you can find little pieces of mint. 06:13 Find small pieces. 06:14 These are very huge. Find some little ones. 06:16 They're kind of monstrous, they will kind of cover these. 06:18 This one is nice and perfect one. 06:20 It's actually quite nice, there's little tips at the top, 06:22 you can finish them off like that and put that on. 06:26 As you can see, 06:27 just a little bit of greenness just a touch 06:29 and the dessert makes it look amazing. 06:33 This is going to taste really good. 06:34 So it's perfect, you don't have to keep eating 06:37 all these unhealthy sugary things in ice creams, 06:40 you can just for some imagination some fresh fruit 06:42 you can do amazing things. 06:44 I can't believe we made all these healthy food today. 06:48 One day it's delicious, I'm sure. 06:53 I cannot wait to eat all this. 06:55 Exactly, you know, under 30 minutes. 06:57 All we need to do is put the sweet potato on first, 06:59 then you can do that when you get home 07:00 and you got a instant meal 07:02 that's healthy and looks amazing, 07:03 so it's great. 07:05 Oh, you replaced it one lovely. 07:07 Going maple, the garnish is there. 07:08 Wonderful. Great to see, lovely, Lucy. 07:10 Well, that looks beautiful. |
