00:01 So if you just joined us on Cook:30 today,
00:03 we're cooking up a storm in the kitchen 00:05 with Shai from Georgia and Jonathan from Michigan. 00:09 So, guys, what's on the menu today? 00:12 Scrambled tofu breakfast bowl with pan fry vegetables. 00:17 And we also have blueberry and chia seed smoothie. 00:22 That sounds delicious. 00:25 So we're making excellent progress here in the kitchen. 00:28 We've got, everything's buzzing away here 00:31 and cooking well. 00:32 So we got the vegetables under control 00:34 and now we want to make this tofu... 00:35 You need me to stir this? 00:37 It should be right, that won't need stirring 00:39 'cause there's a bit of moisture in there, 00:40 so just give it a bit of a shake every so often. 00:42 So what we're gonna do, 00:43 we're gonna add the flavors to this now. 00:46 And so it tastes amazing. 00:48 So what we're gonna add, 00:49 as you can, I'll get you to add... 00:51 You can add and you're gonna keep stirring. 00:52 We're gonna add a tablespoon of honey, 00:53 just keep going until I say stop. 00:56 It's to balance the sweetness. 00:57 That's right, little bit of sweetness in the dish 00:59 goes really well. 01:00 Good thinking. 01:02 Just throw it, keep going, keep going, 01:03 keep going, keep going, keep going. 01:04 Bit more, bit more, bit more, bit more, bit more, 01:07 that's it, it's about a tablespoon. 01:09 And we're gonna spice this up 01:11 and we're gonna use a little bit of Thai red curry paste. 01:15 Have you used it before? 01:16 I don't know, what is that? 01:17 So basically it's a blend of Thai spices 01:21 and it's got like chilies and ginger and garlic in it. 01:24 And what it does, it's just kind of like 01:26 a really nice instant Thai kind of flavor to it. 01:29 We don't add too much, this is breakfast, 01:31 we don't want to burn people's mouths out 01:32 with the Thai curry. 01:34 But just a little bit of spice, 01:35 just adds a little bit of interest to this, 01:36 and makes it really taste yummy. 01:38 So it's like sweet and spicy. 01:40 Exactly, yes. Exactly. 01:42 Do you need me to shake this? 01:43 Yup, yup, keep shaking it. 01:45 Good job there on the grill there. 01:47 Do you need me to...? 01:49 Yup, keep them, yup, when you say something it's great, 01:51 keep it stirring. 01:53 So we're gonna use 01:56 probably about half a teaspoon of this, 02:00 just enough so that it just kind of give it 02:03 just a little bit of hum thing. 02:04 You can add more if we want. 02:05 So I'm gonna get a bit of a cup here 02:08 and a bit of water, 02:09 we just want to just water it down a bit. 02:12 Why do you need to water it down? 02:13 Well, if you put that big lump of curry paste in, 02:15 you'll probably find one person 02:17 will get a big bite of curry paste 02:18 and no one else will get any. 02:20 So you want to make sure any ingredients like this 02:22 to spread evenly through the dish. 02:23 You want to try some? 02:25 No, don't worry, I won't make to eat. 02:26 No. 02:27 So just pour that in there over the tofu. 02:31 It smells good though. 02:33 Yeah, it does. 02:34 Stir it through, Jonathan, so it's all mix evenly. 02:38 Yeah, get all the bits covered with it. 02:40 It looks kind of funny 02:42 how the curry paste went in there 02:45 and it started... 02:46 Yes. Just going. 02:47 And you can smell it there, 02:49 just a little bit of a flavor in there. 02:50 It smells delicious too. 02:51 Exactly. Oh, wow. 02:53 Okay, I'm gonna put some tamari. 02:54 This is tamari which is like a soy sauce, 02:57 so we're gonna put a bit of a tablespoon of this 02:58 to give it a bit of... 03:00 At home we usually, whenever we do like Asian food 03:05 we have soy sauce like this. 03:07 Yeah, so soy sauce and tamari are very, very similar. 03:10 There's many different things like that. 03:12 We've got some salt in there, 03:14 so with the soy sauce that's salty, 03:15 so we don't need to add salt. 03:17 I'll just check my recipe. 03:18 Oh, lime juice and this is what makes us 03:20 really go well is lime juice. 03:22 So we're gonna put in lots of lime juice. 03:24 So we'll probably put around about six tablespoons in. 03:28 So if you want to get squeezing 03:29 some of those into the, into straight into tofu. 03:32 I'll give you a hand here as well. 03:34 Should I shake this? 03:35 Yup, give it a good shake. 03:37 So citrus is a really nice thing to have like 03:39 lime or lemon juice 03:40 just adds flavor to so many dishes. 03:42 It's a really great thing to have. 03:44 Especially for a Mexican food. 03:46 True. It's great with Mexican food. 03:49 So keep stirring, stirring in, 03:50 we don't need all that stuff to escape. 03:55 And you know that that tofu is gonna taste fantastic 03:58 with all these flavors, don't you? 03:59 Yes. It's gonna be great. 04:02 So we're making excellent progress, 04:04 let's give it a bit whirl. 04:05 These guys are cooking well. 04:07 Tomatoes are going well 04:09 and the mushrooms already done 04:11 so while this is finishing off, 04:13 we're gonna make our blueberry and chia seed pie smoothie. 04:17 Yummy. 04:18 So if you can go to freezer and see 04:19 if you can find some blueberries in the freezer? 04:21 There should be in there somewhere. 04:23 So frozen berries are great to have in the freezer, 04:27 we'll come up with the smoothie really quickly. 04:29 Brilliant. 04:30 Blueberries and there should be some almond milk in the door 04:32 as well of the refrigerator. 04:35 And chia seeds are here somewhere, here we go. 04:37 So chia seeds are lovely little seeds 04:39 and they're just packed full of protein 04:41 and lots of amazing things. 04:42 So this is just a simple smoothie with some chia seeds 04:46 which will give us much power. 04:47 So again, it's a breakfast, 04:48 it give you heaps of energy for the day. 04:50 My mom sometimes makes carob chia pudding with chia seeds. 04:55 Yes, the chia seeds actually swell up 04:58 and make a really nice swelly kind of thing. 04:59 So this smoothie will actually get thicker 05:01 the longer you leave it. 05:03 So, it a great thing, you know. 05:04 So basically, smoothie recipes, 05:06 you guys made smoothies at home before? 05:08 Yes. 05:09 What's your favorite smoothie? 05:11 I like the smoothie that we made in the... 05:14 In the other program. 05:16 What was that one? That was a... 05:17 Peanut butter. 05:18 Peanut butter smoothie, that was nice. 05:20 So what's your favorite smoothie? 05:21 My favorite smoothie 05:22 has to be strawberry and raspberry smoothie. 05:25 Oh, that's a good combination, strawberry and raspberry. 05:27 Yes. It's excellent. 05:29 So if you're gonna put in 05:30 probably half that pack of blueberries and... 05:36 Oop, probably bit too much or probably save this out. 05:39 Very enthusiastic taste, they're probably around about, 05:42 few more, kind of about two cups of blueberry, 05:44 so frozen blueberries. 05:46 And if you're gonna unwrap those bananas, 05:48 we'll put them in there, 05:50 I'll put this back in the freezer. 05:52 Can I stop stirring this now? 05:54 Let me just have a look. 05:57 Yup, just keep it on, we actually will turn it off. 05:59 See how it's nicely brown there. 06:01 See how it's lovely and kind of brown, 06:03 that means it's finished, 06:04 it's gonna be nice and flavorsome. 06:06 So what we can do is we can turn this off 06:08 and just leave it in there. 06:09 And in the pan, they'll just still be keeping warm 06:11 so when we serve it, it's not too cold so... 06:14 We still stir it occasionally. 06:15 And these tomatoes, look at that. 06:18 Those are pretty much ready, so we'll turn it off as well. 06:21 They're nice and squiggly. 06:22 And there is a zucchini, 06:24 it's a little bit hard, giving it bit a toss. 06:26 And as you can see they're going brown which is great, 06:28 they probably need a couple more moments, 06:29 just a little bit thin. 06:32 Now the other thing we'll add to this is some avocado 06:35 because why not? 06:36 Everyone likes avocado. Yeah. 06:38 So this we'll add something else, 06:39 it's kind of green for our bowl, 06:41 so just choosing the avocado here. 06:44 So what we're gonna do is... 06:46 Kind of interesting how you can add avocado 06:50 and that stuff to smoothies 06:51 where you wouldn't, where you think that you can't. 06:54 Avocado goes good to smoothies as well. 06:55 We're actually adding this to breakfast bowl, 06:57 not the smoothie. 06:58 But you can add avocado to the smoothie as well 07:00 which is great. 07:01 So again, we'll just take that it apart like this 07:04 and open it like that. 07:05 And if you can just peel off the sides. 07:08 Oh, we forgot to put the smoothie on. 07:10 So I'll just put some almond milk in. 07:13 I never tried chia seeds, so I'm a bit excited. 07:18 It's great. 07:19 So we're gonna put about probably three tablespoons in. 07:23 Just like that, that's a little baby seeds. 07:25 And they're pretty available from most supermarkets. 07:27 And we're gonna blend, 07:28 Jonathan, do you want to press the button? 07:30 Sure. High, three, two, one, go. 07:40 Sometimes it stalls a bit, so just give it a push down 07:43 and that should go from here hopefully. 07:47 Oh, put some more liquid in it. 07:56 Sometimes smoothies go like this, 07:57 sometimes they've been in stores, 07:59 you just need to add more liquid 08:00 and it generally sorts 08:01 most problems out within your smoothies. 08:04 There we go, look at that. 08:06 And, Jonathan, grab those glasses from over there. 08:09 Get those glasses on the counter. 08:13 Help, that's great. 08:18 Brilliant and grab the other ones, that's good. 08:21 They're multitasking it, so if you can chop these up, 08:23 so you just wanna to dice them, 08:24 so just chop them in half like this 08:26 and just really nice, finely diced 08:29 and these we'll sprinkle over and make it look good as well. 08:31 See if you can try that with the other one. 08:34 This is a very nutritious breakfast. 08:37 Yup, exactly. 08:39 Lots of yummy, yummy things. 08:41 So we just pour the smoothie into the glass. 08:44 We'll probably garnish later with... 08:46 Dish out these glasses. 08:48 Glasses like this actually really, 08:50 we got this glass for like one dollar each 08:51 so like from the Dollar shop. 08:52 So you can buy some really inexpensive good looking things 08:57 from some stores. 08:58 Oh, it's three of us, we're got enough for three 09:00 but I need to do four. 09:02 Brilliant. 09:03 So we're nearly finished and what we do now 09:05 is basically we start putting the stuff into this pan, 09:08 so we do a corner of mushroom, a corner of tofu, 09:12 a corner of tomatoes like that. 09:17 A corner of zucchini. 09:21 Different colors in your food is like 09:23 different vitamins in your food 09:25 so this is pretty amazing. 09:26 Exactly and sprinkle some avocado at the top 09:29 and we'll put some herbs on it in the break 09:31 and our breakfast bowl is done. 09:34 Oh, that looks very nice. |
