Thank you my dear. 00:58 it's such a great honor to be here with you. 01:00 Welcome to Detroit. 01:01 I know, I know, my mom was born in Detroit 01:05 and she was from Detroit. Oh, I can't believe that. 01:06 Really. I have some family here and so it's good to be here. 01:10 You know Detroit is on the rise again. It is! 01:13 And a lot of new things are happening. You can see it. 01:15 Businesses, you know, we are right here in the middle 01:17 of the new center area. Yeah. And so we are excited about 01:21 that. But let's talk about just how good God is. Oh yes. 01:26 Let's look at God. Look at God. 01:28 So let's talk about your journey. Um hum. 01:30 We are going to start at 2009 and how God has led you 01:34 all the way to 2017. Yes He has. Alright. Yes, yes. 01:38 Two thousand and nine was a pivotal year for me. 01:42 Prior to that, I was practicing traditional Chinese Medicine, 01:50 I had been practicing that for five years, board certified in 01:57 Traditional Chinese Medicine and the herbs and my sister 02:02 also had come to Dallas to live...I was practicing in 02:05 Dallas and my sister had come to Dallas to live because 02:09 she was ill and she wanted me to help her and so as a 02:13 naturopath and as a practitioner of T.C. M., 02:18 Traditional Chinese Medicine, I was going to do what I could 02:22 to help her because she had some lifestyle habits that 02:25 she needed to change and all that. 02:27 And so she came there already with a diagnosis cirrhosis...Ohh. 02:34 and she had only been given about six months to live. 02:39 And she came there in 2007, or 2006, 2007 something 02:46 like that. She was there for maybe three years so maybe 02:48 2005 or 2006 she came to Dallas to live. 02:52 And the Lord did extend her life and she did give her heart 02:56 to the Lord. Praise the Lord! Oh, praise God. 02:59 But she got ill and she was getting sicker, and she was due 03:05 to have a liver transplant and on March 23rd of 2009 03:11 she had the liver transplant. Okay. 03:13 And the surgery was successful even though the surgeon 03:18 just looked a little shaky to me. 03:21 You know, I knew there was something else because he 03:25 didn't look pleased with the way that the surgery went. 03:28 Well...but he said that there had been some issues 03:33 that she had that were really serious, so even though the 03:37 liver transplant was successful, you know, we still had 03:40 to kind of see how things would go. 03:42 So that was March 23rd that she had the surgery 03:47 and I would go every day and be with her and she had been on 03:52 Methodone. Hmm. And so they did not want to not give her 03:58 anything because then she could go into withdrawal 04:02 while she was recuperating, which would have been 04:04 a really terrible thing. So they gave her fentanyl 04:07 and um, I forget the other one. 04:11 Now how old was she? 04:12 My sister was 50 years old. Oh. 04:15 She was 50 years old, and we were very different. 04:18 My sister was very street wise, you know, our mother died 04:22 when I was 19 and my sister was 9 and so she went one way 04:31 and I went another. I went the academic route, 04:33 my sister went the street route and she learned about the 04:37 streets and so we kind of went like this. 04:42 But after she got older, we came back together and she 04:46 taught me some life lessons that were just amazing. 04:49 Her...she had a heart for people...Yes. 04:52 You know, people looked at me and thought that this is the 04:56 "goodie two shoes" one and this is...But my sister's heart.. 05:01 Example of how she was... There was a woman at church 05:04 and she was crying in the bathroom and Binky, 05:08 that's my sister's nickname, she walked into the bathroom 05:12 at church and the lady was crying and she said 05:15 what's wrong, and she was a young girl, she had gotten 05:19 evicted from her place, had nowhere to go. 05:21 My sister brought her into her home, gave her her room 05:25 and my sister slept on the couch. 05:28 What? That's the kind of person...see 05:30 now I think I am a nice person, but I am sorry Lord help me, 05:34 I'm just not that...give up my own room. 05:38 This was a stranger? A stranger. 05:40 Wow. She didn't even know... she just met her at church. 05:43 Wow. That day. So that's the kind of heart she had. 05:48 Pure. Pure, giving, just, she would do anything for you. 05:52 So March 23rd she had the surgery and they were 05:57 giving her medication to keep her from going into withdrawal, 06:01 unfortunately, I believe they over medicated her 06:06 because she never really came out from under the anesthesia, 06:10 she never really came back. Really! 06:13 And as a result of that, on May 9th, she passed away. 06:19 I am so sorry. And I was devastated because she was like 06:26 my child, there were so many years difference 06:28 and she always looked up to me as her big sister and all. 06:33 It was just the two of you? Um hum. 06:35 Ohh. So, even thinking about it now...its been all these years, 06:40 I miss my sister. I know. There is something so special 06:45 about sisters, you know, you have the same parents and 06:49 history you know. Yes, yes yes. 06:51 So, long story short, that was just devastating to me 06:57 and I tried to deal with her loss and in the mean time 07:03 I was dealing with some career issues as well because 07:08 I had heard one of my friends had told me that acupuncture 07:12 was of the devil. 07:14 And I said, no it's not. And I mean my flesh rose up, 07:17 I was just, I just got so angry because I was trained in that, 07:21 board certified in it, so I knew what I was doing, 07:24 "Praise the Lord" and I am like you Dr. Kim 07:28 you are a perfectionist, you want it done just a certain way. 07:32 Whatever you do...Yes. Yes. You do that all to the 07:36 Glory of God and you do it with a standard of excellence... 07:39 Yes...And that is my goal too, to do what I do 07:44 with a high standard, and so in school, 07:47 I was like on it in school... Praise the Lord... 07:50 I mean, I just learned that discipline, but what I 07:55 didn't learn were the spiritualistic underpinnings... 08:01 Umm...Of acupuncture. I never really knew that. 08:04 So when my friend came at me with that, my friend Yolanda 08:07 whom I love dearly. Ok. 08:08 We are back together, we had a little split for minute... OK. 08:11 But we are back together. 08:13 When she came at me with that, I was like no, I know this stuff, 08:18 I was trained in this and I know what I am doing 08:21 and it is not from the devil. And I prayed over my patients 08:24 first, I guess the Lord was like this poor child. Yes, yes. 08:27 I prayed over my patients and I would just go and do it 08:32 and that would be it. 08:34 I would see things that were so strange on my table... 08:39 Like sometimes when I did there was a certain protocol 08:42 that I did to relax my patients. Yes. And I would put a needle in 08:46 part 7, which is this place here...this point here, 08:51 and it was just a protocol around the body. 08:53 And they would tell me later that they saw colors 08:59 or they felt energy moving. And I would think well 09:05 that's kind of strange but you know, maybe it's just 09:08 relaxing them and all that like what was I thinking. Wow. 09:12 So anyway, I found out through various means, 09:18 the Lord sent me information about it and I had to make a 09:24 decision. Ninety five percent of my income came from 09:29 acupuncture even though I am a naturopathic doctor as well, 09:32 the bulk of my income was from acupuncture and when the Lord 09:38 let me know that it was spirit- ualism based on astrology... 09:44 Acupuncture is based on astrology. Hmm. 09:48 And that's what I didn't learn is school, because had they 09:51 told me that, I would have been out of there. 09:52 You would have been gone. Because we're forbidden to 09:54 deal with astrology. That's right. 09:56 And you are probably going to get some letters and calls 09:59 about this from people who are going to acupuncturist who are 10:02 saying, well it works it helps me. Yes it works, 10:06 but as my friend's husband Dr. Schubert Palmer... 10:10 my friend is Yolanda Palmer too, 10:12 and she said...I had a talk with her husband one day 10:16 and he said, I'm sure it does work, but what's the 10:20 power behind it? Come on. Ohh. 10:23 And that stuck with me and I thought, you know what, 10:26 I need to look into this and I did and I found out 10:29 and that was it. As soon as I knew the real source 10:35 of this discipline, the Lord laid it on my heart, 10:40 walk away from it, touch not, come out of her my people 10:45 and touch not the unclean thing. 10:46 Can a corrupt tree yield good fruit? Um mum. 10:50 The Bible says, can a corrupt tree yield good fruit? No, no. 10:54 No, so I had to walk away from it. Now what year was this? 11:00 Two thousand nine...all this was 2009... All this was 2009. 11:03 My goodness. When the bottom just dropped out from under me. 11:07 Well, but not really. Ok. Because as I contin... 11:14 right after I decided to walk away, I knew that God was 11:19 telling me to leave it and there were people who were telling 11:22 me, why are you doing that? Why are you leaving this? 11:27 What are you going to do and all of that? 11:29 I knew that if God was telling me to leave it, 11:31 He was going to take care of me. Take care of you all the way. 11:33 Dr. Kim. Yes. I was in an expensive apartment building 11:38 in Dallas...Yes. Every month my rent was taken care of, 11:43 Every month. Whether it was through...One month, 11:48 the first month after I left acupuncture, I had not resigned 11:53 my lease and there was an incentive for re-signing 11:57 that you got a free month. What. So I got a free month 12:01 and the rent there was like expensive, it was one of those 12:04 luxury type apartments so it wasn't cheap. Yes, yes. 12:08 But every month God took care of me. Look at God! 12:13 Look at how if He tells you to do something, 12:16 and you do it, He's not going to say, ok, you are on you own. 12:20 No, or leave you there. No, no, He took care of me 12:25 and Dr. Sussel Bailey... I had written a book called 12:31 Great Days Nine Principles To Revolutionize Your Life. 12:34 And Dr. Sussel Bailey in the Dallas area had me come... 12:39 I developed a lifestyle program and he had me come to his office 12:42 and teach some of his patients these principles. Yes. 12:47 So I got to work that way, and so then that same book... 12:52 Cause I hurried up and finished that book when I walked away 12:54 from Acupuncture, I was like Lord I have to... 12:56 What am I going to do and He just showed me finish the book, 12:59 finish the book. I finished that book, 13:01 C.A. Murray from 3ABN, I talked to him and he said come on out 13:07 and I'm going to interview you about your book. 13:09 And I said Praise God, because then I could talk to more people 13:14 about the book. Yes, that's true, definitely. And get 13:15 some invitations to come to some different churches and 13:20 all that stuff. So I was like ok, this is great, 13:23 thank you Lord, thank you. 13:24 So I went out to 3ABN and Pr. Murray had to go out of town 13:30 so he asked Danny Shelton to interview me. Oh... 13:34 So Danny interviewed me, and this was in 2010, 13:39 this was in 2010, he interviewed me 13:43 and we began to talk and he had co-founded an urban network 13:51 called World of Praise with Pr. Whintley Phipps. 13:54 Ok. And Pr. Whintley Phipps was heading it, but 13:56 he's very busy, his schedule didn't allow him to 13:59 really do it, so it just kind of laid dormant. 14:02 Umm. So Danny said to me one day, I feel impressed that you 14:08 should head the Urban Network for 3ABN. 14:12 And I was like, it had never crossed my mind to do 14:18 something like that on that kind of a scale... 14:21 Now I've been on television before...Sure. 14:23 And I've had a singing career and all that and so I was 14:26 no stranger to television per-se but not to administering 14:33 a network and starting from scratch because that's where 14:37 it started from basic...we didn't do any of the 14:40 Word of Praise programming, we just started from scratch. 14:44 God gave me the concepts for programs, the titles for 14:48 programs, introduced me to you and Arthur. Yes. 14:51 And you guys did Making it Work... I, you know... 14:56 You are not supposed to have favorites but you know, 14:59 you are one of my favorites. I appreciate that. 15:00 You know that Dr. Kim, you know I love you. 15:02 Wasn't Making it Work one of the first ones. 15:04 It was one of the first ones. Ray Young produced it 15:07 out of the Michigan area. Yes, yes. 15:09 And he had told me about you guys. Yes. 15:12 And I said, well I have to meet them because I had to needed 15:14 to see for myself. I loved the way you and Arthur bantered, 15:20 I loved the content. You just did an outstanding job... 15:24 We appreciate you. So I publicly thank you for all the you did. 15:27 You know how much Arthur loved you. I love you too. Oh, I am. 15:30 We loved Arthur too. 15:33 And so I just...I can't get over how God is so merciful 15:41 and how when we do just what He says to do... 15:45 There's that reward that we don't see it. That's right. 15:48 We don't have to see it, we know that we have a faithful God 15:52 who's never let us down. I am one of those old sayings now... 15:55 Come on you know I'm going to 15:57 We know that He will not let us down if we just do what He says 16:03 to do. Yes, He will orchestrate everything. Everything. 16:06 I remember when you came to Lake Region Camp Meeting 16:09 and you got up to speak and you were talking about 16:12 Dare to Dream. And when you came down, a lot of people were 16:14 coming at you and I got up to meet you 16:17 and the Lord said sit down because I am going to 16:20 bring her to you. Just like that. Wow! 16:22 Arthur looked at me, he says I thought you were going to go 16:24 meet her. And I said Arthur, no the Lord said in time, 16:29 these were His words "I will bring her to you." 16:31 Wow. So I never saw you on the grounds anymore that afternoon... 16:35 Never. Never was introduced to you and God orchestrated the 16:39 entire...He will do it. He will. 16:42 In His time and in His way. He did. He did. 16:45 He did, He brought you and Arthur...you guys from the 16:49 outset, we just loved what you did. 16:51 I never expected that phone called like what... 16:53 and I prayed to the Lord to do...because I wanted to 16:57 use our gifts and talents for the Lord. 16:59 Um hum. I didn't want to do secular television 17:01 and I said Lord, please use our talents for you. 17:05 So we just was feeling... when we saw you there 17:08 and you were on fire and excited and I was like, 17:11 who is this person? because I didn't know who you were 17:14 and I said God, some day we will meet. 17:18 He sure did it, and you are one of the first programs 17:22 on Dare to Dream. Isn't it amazing. 17:24 And when we started, you started. 17:26 Isn't that amazing? Just about. Um hum. 17:28 Only God. And we've been going since 17:30 two thousand ten, we launched in 2011 and we've just been 17:35 going strong by the grace of God. 17:38 And the programming, I am so thankful that even though 17:42 brother Arthur is not here, you're continuing with 17:45 Live to be Well. Which this program is just wonderful 17:49 and I know the viewers are going to be blessed by the 17:51 different guests that you have.. I'm excited for you. 17:54 I am just thankful that you are open, 17:56 you are such a visionary. 17:57 How does that pour into your sons? because you are like me 18:03 you're just going, going, going, the energizer bunny rabbit. 18:07 Yeah. How old is...I know Jason. Yes. 18:10 And he has this ministry, and what God has done. 18:13 Look at God and Jason's... Look at God. Look at God. 18:17 Oh my goodness. Look at God. 18:18 I know tears have just come to your eyes to see him work 18:22 with you. What is like to have him work side by side with you? 18:25 You know Dr. Kim, he is so easy... 18:29 we share a little bitty office, we're together all day 18:33 and we get along so great. He is the nicest person 18:39 I don't know anybody who doesn't like Jason. Wow. 18:42 He's the nicest guy and he is serious about the Lord 18:46 and to see where he came from... Because he was out of the church 18:51 and he's given...shared his testimony with you... Oh yes. 18:54 He was out of the church, away from the Lord 18:56 and to see how God has brought him to Himself. 19:00 I am just like, thank you Lord. Look at God. 19:03 I know, look at God, that's all that you can say is look at God. 19:05 And then I have an older son. Now what's his name? Mark. 19:08 Mark. Mark for years I have been praying for Mark, 19:16 praying for him because his life has taken some interesting 19:20 turns and he just for awhile he wasn't interested 19:25 in spiritual conversation. He just wasn't interested in it 19:29 and I would keep praying for him every day at noon. 19:32 My clock is set to pray for certain people and Mark 19:37 was one of them. 19:39 Is he in Dallas area still? Well let me tell you. 19:42 Alright. When I moved. I moved recently from Marion to 19:47 West Frankfort and my son Mark came to pack me up. 19:52 And he said mom, I'm just tired of the life that I've been 19:58 living. What? Girl, I'm getting ready to get emotional. 20:02 Oh my goodness. And so he has stayed at 3ABN, 20:07 he's studying for baptism. 20:11 He's studying with Pr. John Lomacang and he is working 20:17 in audio...in radio as an audio editor and look at God. 20:22 So Mark is there with you... So Mark is here with me too. 20:26 I didn't know that. Mark is there, he has been there 20:29 for I want to say six months now. What! 20:33 Yes. So for all of the mothers who are praying for their 20:38 children, don't give up. Don't give up because years 20:42 ago God told me He was going to save my children 20:45 and I believed Him. When He spoke to me, I knew it was God 20:50 and I was like...cause I was crying about something 20:54 that had happened with Mark and I stopped crying. 20:58 Cause the Lord said, I am going to save him. Yes! 21:00 So what am I going to cry for. 21:02 And it's taken all of these years and he's still a work 21:06 in progress. He's still got some things that he is 21:08 dealing with, but God is going to bring him through. 21:11 He is a faithful God, He will not let you down. 21:15 He just won't. And you can sit back and say 21:20 You know won't He do it? "Look at God" 21:23 Exceedingly and abundantly 21:26 more that we could ask or think. Come on. 21:29 Ah, we're preaching up in here. Don't start. Don't start. 21:31 Aren't we now. We are preaching up in here? 21:33 I can feel this. Yes indeed. 21:35 He will go over and above... I mean not save one son 21:37 and He brought both of them with you. Both with me. 21:41 I have both my boys with me. What a peace. 21:43 Oh, and what a joy to be able to talk to them... 21:47 But the other night my son said to me, 21:49 do you know any good sermons I could listen to? 21:51 I'm like...If you knew how he used to be, 21:54 he didn't want to hear about anything. 21:55 Now he's asking me about a good sermon. 21:58 I'm like, Lord, thank you. Look at that. Look at that. 22:01 Look at God. God is...He is moving. 22:04 Does he have a background in Radio? 22:05 No, no, no, he's being trained. Now he's being trained. 22:09 Because they needed some help in Radio and in Editing, 22:13 and Angie Lomacang... like a sister to me, 22:17 and so she's taken like Eagles on Ang and she's taken him 22:21 under her wing and she's helping him and teaching him 22:24 audio editing. Isn't that beautiful? 22:27 It's a blessing. How's he adjusting from the 22:29 city to West Frankfort, IL. How does he like it? 22:32 He is not a big fan, but he says this is where I need to be. 22:36 That's right. He realizes that he needs to be 22:40 there to work on himself and get himself...and have God work 22:46 on him, and the Lord is working on him. 22:49 Sometimes you just have to separate yourself and even with 22:53 what you went through with your sister...Yes. God needed to move 22:56 you to a new place. That's right. 22:57 New memories. That's right. 22:59 And to use your gifts and talents because I've seen you 23:01 on Magnify Him. Oh my goodness, talking about your new CD... 23:06 Oh sure. How did that come about? 23:09 Well, praise the Lord. I hadn't done a CD since 1996. 23:16 Really. And, um, and they have been telling me do it, 23:19 do it, do it, and I've been..., but when I go into the studio 23:22 my voice would be all crackly and stuff, I'm like awww, 23:25 I am having a bad day, I can't do it. 23:27 Because I'm working and talking all the time and then trying 23:31 to go into the studio... That just wasn't working. 23:33 Well praise the Lord, I went in not too long ago 23:38 and was able to knock a bunch of them out... 23:40 And then a lot of the songs on there are songs that I've sung 23:43 for 3ABN in the past on various projects. 23:46 So we just kind of put them all in one place and if people 23:49 just want to hear something that hopefully will have them 23:54 in a worshipful frame of mind, then they can listen to that. 23:58 I remember we did not attend the GC in Texas 24:02 but when you came out, I was like, oh no Yvonne's the 24:06 greatest thing... You know and he says I'm sitting 24:09 right here, okay. "Laughing" 24:12 And I was so excited you know, it was just so beautiful... 24:16 Praise the Lord. I mean they had a lot of 24:18 wonderful talent but to know someone who sings for the Lord.. 24:23 You know, and I've seen you at the camp meeting for 3ABN... 24:27 What is that like, I've never attended the camp meeting? 24:30 You have to come. What is that like? 24:31 It is so wonderful because we have all these different 24:34 speakers and different music, different artists and the 24:39 speakers just...this past camp meeting was one of the... 24:43 I think it was one of the largest attended ever. 24:45 Really. And it was on exposing the counterfeit and all of these 24:50 different topics like is the Bible true? and just a lot 24:54 of different topics that people want to know about with 24:57 all these different great speakers. 24:59 Some of the top speakers in the church today 25:01 and they are just coming and giving a perspective on these 25:06 different areas. And it's just, it's wonderful being there, 25:10 the second best thing to being there is watching it. 25:13 Watching it. If you can watch it, that's 25:14 great but if you can be there... To be there... 25:17 Because there is something about the atmosphere, 25:20 it's just so spirit filled. I love...I love camp meeting 25:25 cause I need to have my spirit watered. 25:27 Oh definitely. You know you are in ministry and tsh, tsh, tsh, 25:30 putting out, putting out and all this energy and this just 25:36 kind of brings the Holy Spirit more into you, so it infuses 25:44 you with energy and... You know I think what happens is 25:48 that you are able to take a step back and say Lord, 25:52 help me to be filled, I need to be re-booted, 25:56 I need to take this opportunity to draw closer to You 25:59 and I need to be still. Yes. 26:01 That's what happened to me, I went to another camp meeting, 26:03 I was preaching at the South Eastern Conference, 26:07 I was their speaker all week for Women's Ministry, 26:10 Family Life. Then I came back and Erin wanted to see her 26:16 friends and my sister was presenting so I got in the car 26:21 and drove up to Lake Region and it was a little difficult, 26:23 my first camp meeting without Arthur and people seeing me 26:28 without him. They...And then people will come up and say 26:31 I just can't even bear this, I can't even look at you because 26:35 I'm like where is Elder Nolen. I said in time. 26:38 In time you will be all right. Mmmm. 26:41 And I'm ministering to them, comforting them. 26:44 But, so it was something to sit by myself to adjust to that 26:51 and be there. So I thank the Lord for growth. 26:55 Umm. I thank the Lord for yesterday, 26:59 but I thank the Lord for what He's doing now. 27:01 Absolutely. Because you know it helps us to be able to mature 27:05 in Him. It's a new normal now. 27:08 You are trying to establish a new normal now. 27:12 Where there were two, now there is one, so it's like 27:15 your whole identity has changed. Oh yes. And it's adjusting 27:20 to that, that I know has got to be super, super challenging. 27:24 Yes very. But you are, I have to say, I'm so proud of you. 27:29 because I know that this is hard, and I know that it's a 27:33 challenge for you. Yes. But you're handling it 27:36 beautifully. Well I appreciate that. 27:38 You know we are...at the end of this broadcast. 27:41 What! Already! Oh my word. 27:44 I am just so excited, I thank the Lord for allowing me to go 27:47 through what you went through in 2009, for such a time as this. 27:52 I want to thank my boss and our General Manager 27:58 of Dare to Dream and I thank God for the vision 28:01 in the programming. 28:02 Continue to know that God will do it and "Look at God," 28:06 and "Live to Be Well."
