00:04 Magnify the Lord 00:08 Jesus alone is worthy 00:11 Magnify Him 00:18 Hello, and welcome to Magnify Him. 00:20 My name is Duawne Starling. 00:21 And I'm Yvonne Lewis. 00:23 Thank you so much for tuning in. 00:24 There is a special blessing just for you. 00:27 Today we have two very special artists. 00:29 As you listen to them minister 00:31 I believe that you will be inspired 00:33 by their unique ministry. 00:35 Our first artist is Deon Muschette 00:37 and he is a gifted pianist. 00:39 And I get to speak with Heather Willis 00:41 who is also a phenomenal singer. 00:44 So stay tuned as we lift up the name of Jesus 00:47 and magnify Him. 00:50 Magnify the Lord with me 00:53 Magnify Him 00:59 I'm here with Deon Muschette 01:01 and Deon Muschette is a wonderful pianist. 01:04 Welcome to Magnify Him. 01:05 Thank you for having, Dr. Lewis. 01:07 So nice to have you. Thank you. 01:09 When did you get started in music? 01:11 At the age of eight-years-old 01:14 my mother past me on the shoulder 01:17 and she said, there is a gentleman 01:19 I want you to meet and she took me over to him 01:22 and she said he is gonna be your piano teacher. 01:26 And that mark the genesis of a great friendship, 01:29 a lifetime friendship 01:31 and a great teacher, student relationship. 01:33 Wonderful. 01:34 So you had any interest in piano before then or? 01:38 Had no prior interest in playing any instrument. 01:41 Wow. 01:42 I was somewhat goaded into playing the piano 01:46 but its paying off now so I praise the Lord. 01:48 Oh, I praise the Lord too. 01:50 I'm so thankful that He brought to us. 01:52 So when you were, when you were growing up 01:55 what kind of a practice regimen did you have 01:57 because there are so many children 02:00 that watch Dare to Dream and Magnify Him 02:02 and what would you tell them about practicing. 02:06 Well, practice makes perfect obviously that's our cliché 02:11 but in my household I had to practice every morning 02:14 for half an hour. 02:16 I had get at 6 AM and I had to practice 02:19 before I was allowed to eat my breakfast. 02:21 Really? 02:23 And this is starting at elementary school 02:25 at the age of eight like I said earlier 02:28 and then it progressively became to an hour 02:31 as I advanced in music it became an hour 02:35 and then two hours on the piano as I got older. 02:37 And my parents made sure that I practiced. 02:41 See that is wonderful because it creates 02:44 in you this discipline. 02:45 Yes, it does. 02:46 You know, and that's-- I think more parents 02:49 should really get their children 02:50 involved in playing an instrument. 02:52 I just read something recently about a study 02:55 that showed that children 02:57 who play instruments have more discipline. 03:00 It actually works on various parts of the brain. 03:04 So I think that it also increases intelligence. 03:07 When you pray an instrument 03:08 you have discipline and all that. 03:10 So now do you still practice a lot 03:13 or now that you are kind of, 03:14 you know, you are out there playing all the time, 03:17 do you practice more now? 03:19 I wouldn't say I practice more 03:20 but I practice whenever I get the opportunity. 03:23 Due to my job I don't get that many days to practice. 03:27 I will say its periodic now, not as frequent. 03:30 So you are not in ministry fulltime? 03:32 Not fulltime. 03:34 Would you like to be? 03:35 I will love to be. 03:36 Actually I have an album, my first album 03:39 that I'm actually working on. 03:41 The Lord showed me a sign that He wanted me to make a CD 03:46 and the title of it is "Flowing Grace." 03:49 Oh, nice. 03:50 Lot of my friends have told me in the past that 03:52 whenever I play the piano it sounds like a river flowing 03:55 so I decided to incorporate a water dynamic, 03:58 a water element in the title 04:00 and hence "Flowing Grace" it is. 04:03 Oh, that's beautiful. That's beautiful. 04:05 How long have you been playing music? 04:07 Been playing for 24 years now, 24. 04:10 Who have been some of your mean influences? 04:14 Well, my teacher Allen Anderson, 04:17 he gets most of the credit, 04:19 obviously God gets all of the credit. 04:21 Oh, yes. 04:23 Michael Andrews, great pianist in our Florida, 04:27 J Moore Anderson, Donna-Marie Anderson, 04:29 Gale Murphy, Odette Anderson, Angie Anderson, 04:34 Bonnie Quigley, Laurie Wenzel those are like older brothers 04:38 and sisters to me. 04:40 So I always call them up or email them 04:42 soliciting advice on certain songs. 04:45 Yes. 04:47 Where do you see your ministry going? 04:49 What's your vision for Flowing Grace? 04:53 Well, Flowing Grace is a CD that's good for the soul. 04:59 The Lord has helped me comply a set of songs 05:03 that are targeted to soul. 05:05 And I'm hoping that it will progressively do well. 05:12 I hope it actually brings people closer to Christ 05:16 and that's the most important thing. 05:17 Yes. 05:19 The Lord gave me a story 05:20 behind that title Flowing Grace. 05:22 We all know that grace is unmerited favor. 05:24 Yes. 05:26 And the unmerited favor that we receive from God 05:29 is the death of His Son. 05:30 And the blood that flows from Christ is the grace 05:33 that we've received, hence Flowing Grace. 05:36 Okay. Oh, I love it. 05:39 I love it. 05:40 Your parents must be really proud of you? 05:42 Well, I tell everyone that my success is attributed 05:45 to how I was raised, try not to get emotional 05:49 while I feel like I have the best parents in the world. 05:52 They made so many sacrifices for me 05:55 and I didn't appreciated back them 05:57 and most kids don't. 05:58 You know, your parents they have been around 06:00 a lot longer than you have and they can see the future 06:04 and that's as earlier I'm reaping the benefits now, 06:07 I had a chance to play at 06:09 a plenty of churches, banquets, weddings. 06:13 Just a chance to meet great people. 06:15 Praise the Lord. 06:17 It's such a blessing to hear 06:19 how you give your parents such honor. 06:21 You know, and you did get so touched by 06:25 when you were starting to talk about them 06:27 obviously you have a very close relationship with them. 06:30 Oh, yes, very much. 06:31 It's so nice to see that 06:33 and I encourage you to just continue 06:35 to honor your parents the way you do. 06:38 Praise the Lord. 06:39 I think that you can see that 06:41 Deon has a special relationship 06:44 with his parents and with the Lord. 06:47 We are going to be blessed 06:48 by the ministry of Deon Muschette. 10:42 You know, there are so many 10:43 fractured homes in our world today, 10:46 I'm fortunate to have parents 10:48 who have been married over 30 years. 10:51 In order to accomplish such a feat 10:53 you have to put God first and magnify Him. 10:57 The song that I'm about to play is entitled 10:59 "Happy the Home." 11:00 As I play, meditate on the song 11:02 and I hope it draws you 11:03 and your family closer to Christ. 14:16 Magnify the Lord with me 14:19 Magnify Him 14:25 Hi, I'm sitting here with Heather Willis 14:28 and what a joy Heather, what a joy it is to hear you. 14:32 God bless you. Praise God. 14:34 Thank you for being on Magnify Him. 14:35 I'm glad to be here. 14:37 Let me tell you when I was listening to you sing, 14:39 first of all I love acoustic music 14:42 but then your voice went top of it its just so soothing. 14:46 Now is that like something that you kind of you crafted 14:50 or is that just who you really are? 14:52 It's who I am. 14:53 I grew up in a singing family 14:55 and my mom sort of joked around with us 14:58 that we all had our own sounds. 15:00 And I was I guess kind of the laid back singer 15:05 and I didn't sing for a long time 15:07 because I didn't think there was a place for my voice 15:10 because I have sisters who could really sing. 15:12 Okay. 15:14 So I'm just now starting to sing more on my own. 15:17 Just now? 15:18 Just now. Wow. 15:20 Couple of years or so. Okay. 15:22 Well, I tell you for just now you are like phenomenal. 15:24 Well, praise God. 15:26 You really are and what I loved about 15:28 listening to you was I felt like 15:29 I was kind of watching you in your relationship with God. 15:35 You know, I kind of feel like I was-- 15:36 just had a little peak into that relationship. 15:39 It looks authentic and I believe it is. 15:43 It is, it is. That's how I connect with Him. 15:47 I do get very busy and I'm a control freak 15:50 and I work hard and the only way 15:53 that I keep my sanity is to reach out to God 15:56 and sometimes in song, you know, 15:58 so that you can feel that that's a beautiful thing 16:01 that music God is using me. 16:03 And so you are singing with your husband? 16:05 Yes. Yes. 16:08 And I understand that today is a special day. 16:11 Oh, it's my birthday, happy birthday to me. 16:12 Happy birthday to you. I love it, I love it. 16:15 What a great way to spend your birthday. 16:17 I think so ministry is in my blood. 16:20 Yeah. 16:22 My dad is a minister and we always travel with him 16:24 and worked in ministry. 16:27 So when I was afforded the opportunity to come 16:31 and minister on my birthday 16:33 I thought there was no better way to serve. 16:36 You know, instead of making it about me 16:38 if I can make it about Him 16:40 then my day would be worthwhile. 16:42 I love that. 16:43 I think that you are unique 16:45 and I don't think that you have to fit into a mold. 16:48 I think that once your music gets out there, 16:49 there is always gonna be an audience for you. 16:52 I will love to see you doing your own thing, 16:56 making your own mark, having your own concerts, 16:59 having your own CDs, 17:01 is that anything in the near future? 17:04 Are you inspiring in that direction at all? 17:06 It's in the future only because I promised God 17:10 many years ago that 17:12 when I was asked to sing I would sing. 17:13 Yeah. My sister and I did. 17:14 I went to Oakwood College and she-- 17:17 Hey, and she made me promise-- 17:20 well, she didn't make me promise 17:22 but we made this promise to God together 17:24 and I'm starting to see that 17:26 maybe He is leading me to record something. 17:30 Even though I feel there is-- God is in control. 17:35 It's not about what I think or what I feel 17:37 or where I want to be, 17:40 I'm willing to go wherever He takes me. 17:42 I love that and I believe He will take you far. 17:45 I do. I'm cool with that. 17:46 So who were some of your influence as growing up? 17:50 Because I know you probably listen to a lot of music. 17:54 My mom is a huge influence. 17:57 Does she sing? She sings, yes. 17:59 And oh, man, we listen from everybody 18:03 from the Clark Sisters to Gaither's to the Imperials 18:09 you know, Dallas Home, we go way back. 18:14 I remember. You are from Detroit? 18:16 I am. Very good. 18:17 A musical city, a musical family. 18:19 Yes. 18:21 Now I expect to hear great things from you. 18:23 Oh, praise God. 18:24 I believe that God's anointing is heavy on you. 18:27 I believe He gives some little, He give some much, 18:30 He gives some some, You are one of the one's 18:33 that He has given much. 18:35 Do you believe that? 18:37 I would like to believe that and I'm working towards. 18:39 I like singing with other people. 18:41 Yeah. 18:42 And in my adult years I've learned that 18:44 people aren't gonna always be available 18:45 as you would like them to so-- 18:48 Well, I tell you what, 18:49 it's been a joy to have you here. 18:50 And I praise God 18:52 for the ministry of Heather Willis. 18:54 I believe the world will be blessed 18:55 by this woman of God 18:57 and I believe the music industry 18:58 will be blessed as well. 19:23 The more I seek You 19:33 The more I find You 19:42 The more I find You 19:52 The more I love You 19:59 I want to sit at Your feet 20:04 And drink from the cup in Your hands 20:10 Lay back against You and breathe 20:14 And feel Your heart beat 20:20 This love is so deep 20:25 its more than I can stand 20:29 I melt in Your peace 20:33 Its overwhelming 20:43 This is the air I breathe 20:53 This is the air I breathe 21:01 Your only presence 21:09 Living in me 21:22 This is my daily bread 21:32 You are my daily bread 21:40 Your every word 21:48 Spoken, they spoken to me 21:55 And I 22:06 I'm desperate for You 22:17 And I 22:25 I'm lost without You 22:35 I'm desperate for You 22:44 And I'm lost without You 22:49 I'm lost, yes 22:56 I want to sit at Your feet 23:01 And drink from the cup in Your hands 23:07 Lay back against You and breathe 23:11 And feel Your heart beat 23:17 This love is so deep 23:22 Its more than I can stand 23:27 And I melt in Your peace 23:31 Its overwhelming 23:35 I want to sit at Your feet 23:40 And drink from the cup in Your hands 23:45 And lay back against You 23:50 And breathe 23:58 You know, sometimes we get caught up in the hustle 24:01 and the bustle of every day life 24:03 and we forget that God is in control. 24:06 So many of us including me 24:08 try to take control of our own lives and run things 24:12 and we learn the hard way 24:13 that it doesn't work out like that. 24:16 My next song is gonna talk about the relationship 24:19 that we have with God and how He shows us 24:21 that He is always there for us. 24:44 There are only so many things 24:48 I can do in a day 24:54 There are only so many things 24:58 That I can say 25:04 But You are infinite 25:07 We know that 25:10 All I'm You found 25:15 You are my God 25:19 And I'm Yours 25:26 You are my God 25:29 And I'm Yours 25:35 There are times when my heart falls 25:39 It tries to cross the line 25:45 There are times and things without You 25:50 It would be fine 25:55 But You are infinite we know that 26:01 All I'm You found 26:06 You are my God 26:10 And I'm Yours 26:13 I love that. 26:16 Oh, You are my God 26:20 And I'm Yours 26:26 Now I can't take the rain 26:29 And make it through the night 26:32 I can't do thing without Father by my side 26:38 The devil tries to break me 26:40 And chain me down fright 26:43 But he can't me not while You are alive 26:50 Save You'll see my face 26:53 And notice all my dreams 27:00 'Cause the dream will begin with You 27:04 For early 30 27:11 You are infinite and we know- 27:16 And all I'm You found 27:22 You are my God 27:25 and I'm I'm Yours 27:30 Oh, You are my God 27:36 And I'm Yours 27:39 Oh, one more time. 27:43 You are my God 27:47 And I'm Yours 27:59 Magnify Him 28:03 Duawne, was today's program a blessing or what? 28:06 It was, it was.
