" 00:32 That is exactly what we're going to do right here 00:34 on Magnify Him today Danita. 00:36 That is right, we have two magnificent Artists 00:38 that are going to do that and you know 00:39 it gets me so excited, 00:41 I may just start singing myself, today. 00:42 Well, wait a second, you're a Host not an Artist. 00:46 That is true... that may be true but you know what? 00:48 I feel like singing because 00:50 God has been so good to us hasn't he? 00:52 He has been good and that's why we're here today 00:54 because we're going to lift up the name of Jesus today 00:57 and we're going to Magnify Him. 00:59 Magnify the Lord the King 01:02 Magnify Him. 01:07 I am thrilled 01:08 to introduce our next guest here on Magnify Him, 01:11 not 5th Element... not 6th Element... 01:15 but... 7th Element... 01:17 tell me about that name 01:19 and welcome to Magnify Him, of course 01:21 but tell me about your name 01:22 7th Element... what does that mean? 01:24 Well, Lyndon, when we had gotten together at first 01:27 and we decided on picking a name, 01:29 a lot of groups always seem to pick things 01:31 that are important to them, 01:33 you'll find a lot of... especially in the world... 01:34 groups that seem to pick names that glorify themselves, 01:36 Hmmm... hmmm... 01:38 but we wanted to do the opposite we wanted our name 01:40 so anytime it was called, it would bring glory to God 01:43 and so there are 6 elements here that you see 01:47 and I'm Element 1, because I sing First Tenor 01:51 so I'm E1 or Element 1... Mark Dwyer, 01:53 I am Darren Green, E2, I sing second from the top, 01:57 I'm Garth Greene... E3, 02:00 and I'm Curt Greene and I'm E4 I sing a higher baritone. 02:05 Kevin Greene and I sing baritone... 02:09 the lower baritone... E5, 02:11 I'm E6... and I sing bass... my name is Mark Glover. 02:14 All right... well once again 02:16 we are just so happy to have you here 02:18 on Magnify Him... 02:20 But Lyndon... one thing... Yeah... go ahead... 02:22 But the most important Element, the one that you asked about... 02:25 Is the 7th... Is the 7th... yes... 02:27 and that's why when we say, "It's all about the 7th... " 02:30 And let me tell you, I've heard you guys sing before 02:31 and you guys definitely have that anointing on you. 02:34 I have another question here, 02:37 how long have you guys been singing together 02:40 and when did it all start... what year? 02:44 Well, we started singing together in 1999 02:48 the group you see here started singing together in 2000 02:53 several of us are brothers 02:56 I don't know if you can tell or not 02:57 but four of us here in the center... are brothers 03:00 literal brothers... 03:02 And you said, by the same mother and father... 03:04 Yes... Praise the Lord 03:08 and we've been singing together since... I hate to say it... 03:11 but the late 70s... we had a group back then 03:15 we did a record... 03:18 It's called The Heralds of Joy 03:20 The Greene brothers and The Heralds of Joy 03:23 and then Marc and Mark... came together and joined us 03:32 to form 7th Element as you see it today. 03:35 And you two actually had the separate deals... correct? 03:39 Yeah.. Tell me a little bit about that. 03:42 We were actually signed to Capitol Records 03:44 I won't call in the names 03:46 but we were signed to Capitol Records 03:48 and then to Sony, and they took us into the office 03:51 and said, "Listen, we want you to sing, 03:52 but we want you to sing more of a secular thing 03:56 and we want you to sing gospel later" 03:58 and that's the way... we just couldn't do 03:59 so Marc stepped out 04:00 and then I eventually stepped out also 04:02 and found 7th Element. 04:05 Wow! that is interesting 04:07 what a testimony how God put all six of you guys together. 04:11 Tell me... how do your rehearsals work 04:15 it's got to be tough with six people in rehearsal. 04:19 Oh yeah... I mean... you said it, 04:23 I mean... it is tough 04:24 but I think that without that 7th Element in our lives, 04:29 it wouldn't be possible 04:31 but with Him... it's all possible. 04:34 We don't get together an awful lot, 04:37 when we travel... we rehearse 04:39 that's all I can say. 04:41 Absolutely, now... you said that you're traveling 04:44 so where are you from? 04:45 We are based in Orlando primarily 04:48 although Curt is in Nashville, 04:50 but most of us are in the Florida area 04:52 so you can say, we're Floridians... 04:54 We're about an hour... two hours apart. 04:55 Gotcha... and you have a CD? 04:58 We do... 04:59 What's it called? 05:01 "7th Element" it's self-named... 05:03 7th Element Volume 1. 05:05 And where can people get it? 05:07 iTunes... you name it... Bachelor's degree... 14:43 so I was supposed to be going in a completely different way 14:46 but God obviously had other plans, 14:47 I was making plans to... looking for a job 14:52 and thinking of maybe... oh, teaching in South Korea 14:55 or going to Puerto Rico 14:56 where my family is originally from 14:58 but then my mom... 15:00 my parents... they've been working together 15:02 with 3ABN Latino... 15:04 and she told me about a job opportunity... 15:05 a job opening that they had... 15:07 I first brushed it off and said, 15:08 "Well, that's not for me, that's not even in my field... " 15:10 so... but then through a series of events 15:13 and experiences and different things that happened, 15:18 I ended up coming here to do a Cooking Program 15:20 and then I interviewed for the job 15:22 and they gave me the job 15:24 which was surprising to me I didn't think that would happen 15:26 I said, "God, if they gave me the job, 15:28 that would be a sign to take it" and then I wasn't sure, 15:30 I kind of hesitated when I actually did get the job 15:32 so, after praying about it and talking over with my family, 15:36 and thinking about it, I decided that 15:38 that was what God wanted me to do 15:39 and I've been here since November of last year. 15:42 That's an amazing story and so now... 15:44 we have you behind the scenes here... 15:46 but one of the great things is that 15:47 you have a myriad of talents 15:50 and, of course, one of them is singing, 15:51 how did you get started singing? 15:54 Well, I've been singing pretty much 15:57 since I was really little, 15:58 my parents... I don't know if they still have them, 16:00 but they recorded me singing to sound tracks... 16:02 on cassette tapes and I always liked to sing 16:06 and I love watching my parents sing, 16:10 I grew up listening to my parents sing together 16:11 all the time, and that really inspired me 16:13 and it wasn't till... 16:15 maybe when I started going to High School, 16:17 they had a choir there and I would be in the choir 16:19 and I enjoyed that and then... 16:21 a couple of years ago 16:23 I really started thinking more seriously about 16:26 singing more often and improving the skill 16:29 and I found a friend, a really good friend of mine 16:32 at school... at college... who... we would get together 16:35 and we would go do special music 16:36 at different Spanish Churches around the area, 16:38 and for me... music is just such a blessing in my life 16:42 and it inspires me, music does so many things to you 16:45 and I really feel like 16:47 that's my way of sharing 16:48 my testimony and blessing to others is through music. 16:51 Now, I have to ask this question because you talk about 16:54 being able to go and sing not only at other churches... 16:57 but Spanish-speaking churches 16:59 are we going to get a chance maybe a little later 17:00 to hear you sing a little something in Spanish? 17:02 Yes, yes, actually in all my songs, 17:05 I sing a verse in Spanish. 17:06 That is wonderful now I'm going to give you a 17:08 pop quiz here... what is one of your favorite songs to sing 17:11 and the meaning behind that? 17:13 I think... 17:16 I like... 17:19 well I really love the hymns 17:22 so, there are a lot of hymns that I really like 17:24 I love hymns that talk about hope and peace and joy... 17:30 so there are a lot of hymns that talk about that. 17:32 It's really hard for me to pick just one that I like 17:33 so... but the two that I'm going to be singing 17:37 are... I love the music, the melody to them, 17:40 they're very soothing songs that give a proper message about 17:44 God's love for us and the power in Jesus' blood. 17:47 That's wonderful because my Co-Host and I, Lyndon, 17:50 we talk about... how sometimes we're losing 17:52 some of the hymns in our church 17:54 so it's encouraging to see someone have a ministry 17:57 and do the hymns, 17:58 so we're really excited about that 18:00 so now... you're going to sing two hymns for us 18:02 I want you to talk a little bit about 18:03 that first song you're going to sing 18:04 and what it truly means to you. 18:06 Well, the first one is, "There is a Fountain" 18:09 and I really like the melody, 18:11 I changed up the lyrics a little bit 18:15 used some from different verses and mixed it together 18:18 but, it's just really beautiful how 18:22 nothing else in this world can give us peace, can save us... 18:28 nothing can save us except the blood of Jesus 18:30 and that's really a big part of our message 18:33 as Christians and so that's part of the reason 18:36 I really like this song and just the 18:38 the melody and the tune are very peaceful. 18:40 And that is a beautiful song and we are so thankful 18:43 for the blood of Jesus Christ and how He has saved us all 18:47 and I cannot wait to hear these songs 18:48 and excited about hearing you sing also in Spanish 18:51 so... you...
