00:01 Magnify the Lord with me
00:04 Magnify the Lord 00:08 Jesus alone is worthy 00:11 Magnify Him. 00:19 Hello and welcome to "Magnify Him." 00:22 I am Danita Jones. 00:23 And I'm Lyndon Carriger. 00:25 You know, Psalms 95:1 says, 00:27 "Oh, come let us sing unto the Lord, 00:29 let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation." 00:34 And today on Magnify Him, 00:35 we're going to make a joyful noise. 00:38 We certainly are because Jesus truly 00:40 is the rock of our salvation 00:43 and we have some artists 00:44 that are going to come and sing about that. 00:46 Yes, so join us now as we praise the Lord, our God 00:50 who is King of kings and Lord of lords. 00:54 Magnify the Lord with me 00:57 Magnify Him 01:02 Songs like Blessed and Abraham and Spirit of God 01:06 are just some of the amazing testimonies in songs 01:10 that our next guest here on the program sings 01:13 and we are lucky to have Mrs. Marcha William with us 01:16 all the way from Australia. 01:18 Welcome to the program Marcha. 01:20 Thank you, Danita. 01:21 Now you're testimony we were talking about earlier, 01:25 is there's a lot of testimony in the title 'Doctor' 01:28 before your name Dr. Marcha William, 01:31 could you tell me a little bit about that? 01:33 Yes, well, as I was growing up, 01:37 I was exposed to a lot of, 01:40 I'd say critical kind of people that, 01:43 really criticize who I was or what I did 01:47 and so I developed a false belief 01:50 that I wasn't really able to contribute 01:54 much at all to society 01:56 and I developed a very low self esteem 01:59 and, so that was a very deep wound within my heart 02:03 and as every child born inside of heaven, 02:06 we tend to use kind of protective measures to try 02:10 and protect that wound, so for me it was academia. 02:14 I though that if I would strive to do the best that I could do 02:18 that somehow that I would feel valuable in the eyes of others, 02:23 and so subconsciously that's-- that's what happened 02:26 and I ended up 02:28 moving into the field of medicine 02:30 and whilst in there 02:33 and working very, very long hours, 02:36 being surrounded by immense suffering 02:40 and unfortunately being in contact 02:43 with very high, highly strung teachers 02:47 that had very high expectations and demands 02:50 on their junior doctors. 02:53 I became mentally exhausted 02:55 and, so after about a year of that 02:58 I developed very, very severe depression 03:02 and, so through that depression 03:05 not being able to concentrate on my work 03:07 and not being able to focus 03:10 or even remember things correctly 03:11 and being very, very low in mood. 03:15 I had to basically stop working and stop everything 03:20 and it was at that place in my, what I call my spiritual cave, 03:24 my Elijah experience running into the wilderness 03:28 in the complete opposite direction 03:31 and yet being fed with bread and water by God 03:33 all along the way. 03:35 It was in that spiritual cave that God spoke to my heart 03:40 and He was able to share with me 03:42 that it's not about what I do that gives me value. 03:46 It's purely the fact that Jesus loves me 03:49 and the demonstration of that love 03:51 through dying for my sins, 03:54 that really spoke to my heart and I realized that 03:58 He knew everything about me, 04:00 my weaknesses, my failings everything, 04:03 still love me enough to come here and die for my sins 04:05 and that's, that really helped me to understand 04:08 that I was priceless in His eyes. 04:10 That is an amazing testimony, and so you're-- 04:14 now you're doing music full time. 04:16 Yes. 04:18 Which is an amazing way to reach people. 04:20 Talk to me about how you originally started singing? 04:23 Yes, well, I actually-- 04:27 My parents actually left church when I was three years old, 04:30 so I knew there was a God, 04:31 but I didn't know a personal God, 04:34 and so at the age of 16, 04:35 I was cast as one of the disciples 04:37 in a musical called "Godspell." 04:40 And as I was reading the script 04:43 and observing the portrayal of Christ's character 04:46 through the musical. 04:49 I suddenly realized that this was more than a good man 04:51 with great compassion. 04:53 This had to be God 04:55 and I wanted to know more about Him and sure enough 04:58 my musical director who was a Christian 05:01 asked us to come and have Bible studies 05:03 after the musical was over and I jumped at the opportunity 05:08 and when I found out that Jesus died for me, 05:10 particularly me, you know, who has so much, 05:14 so many failings and weaknesses that He would do that 05:18 just blew my mind and I gave my heart to Him, yeah. 05:22 Wonderful. 05:24 Now, you're very far from home. 05:26 We told our audience that you're from Australia 05:28 and that is fantastic 05:30 and you have a project now ''Take My Heart.' 05:33 'Can we talk a little bit about 05:34 what inspired you to do that project? 05:36 Well, through the journey of my medical work, 05:39 my medical life which spanned 05:41 a good six years after med school. 05:45 I just witnessed so much suffering 05:47 and my own personal struggle was very trying 05:51 and so after I left 05:53 the medical field just temporarily 05:55 after that first year of difficulty, 05:58 God spoke to my heart again and He said, "You know what, 06:01 why don't you consider using a music gift, 06:04 the music gift that I've given you 06:06 since you were very young and try that out." 06:09 So I involved in music and I just loved it, 06:13 I started writing for orchestra, for choir, 06:16 for media and I just so thoroughly enjoyed it, 06:19 but during that time I realized that the music itself 06:22 that I was composing and creating 06:25 and the classical music I was listening to 06:27 was helping to reconstruct my frontal lobe 06:30 and help me to be able to gain a balance view 06:32 and a good judgment on my emotional situations. 06:36 So there's a healing power in music 06:38 and we definitely know that here at Magnify Him. 06:41 The project is called ''Take My Heart'' 06:43 and you are going to bless us in song. 06:47 Ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Marcha William. 07:06 Our Father 07:13 Which art in Heaven 07:20 Hallowed be 07:27 Thy Name 07:34 Thy Kingdom come 07:40 Thy will be done 07:45 On earth 07:48 as it is in Heaven 08:06 Give us this day 08:10 Our daily bread 08:17 And forgive us our debts 08:21 As we forgive our debtors 08:34 And lead us not into temptation 08:40 But deliver us from evil 08:48 For Thine is the Kingdom 08:55 And the power 08:58 And the glory 09:04 forever 09:15 Amen 09:41 The same God that created our universe 09:45 can recreate our hearts as well. 09:52 You said remember 09:55 Because you knew 09:58 There would be a time 10:03 We would forget 10:05 You said come to me 10:10 Abide in me 10:14 And I will give you rest 10:20 For in six days 10:24 You made heaven 10:28 Earth and sea and all that is in them 10:34 But on the seventh day you rested 10:38 On the seventh day You blessed it 10:42 Saturday You created Hollowed 10:46 Sabbath day for men 10:52 You said remember 10:55 Because you knew 10:58 All that our busy lives would demand 11:05 But Father 11:07 You said to follow one 11:10 The way the truth is in Your Son 11:14 Jesus, the life of every man 11:20 For in six days 11:24 You made heaven 11:28 Earth and sea and all that is in them 11:34 But on the seventh day You rested 11:38 On the seventh day You blessed it 11:42 Saturday You created 11:46 Hollowed Sabbath day for men 11:53 And even greater wonder 11:56 and the glories made by you 12:00 Is the heart transformed created by the loving you 12:06 The loving you 12:10 For in six days 12:13 You made heaven 12:18 Earth and sea and all that is in them 12:23 But on the seventh day You rested 12:28 On the seventh day You blessed it 12:32 Saturday You created 12:35 Hollowed Sabbath day sixth days 12:41 You made heaven 12:46 Earth and sea and all that is in them 12:52 But on the seventh day You rested 12:56 On the seventh day You blessed it 13:00 Saturday You created 13:03 Hollowed Sabbath day for men 13:09 You said remember 13:13 Because you knew 13:16 There would be a time 13:20 We would forget 13:26 Remember 13:36 Magnify the Lord with me 13:39 Magnify Him. 13:44 Praise the Lord, everybody. 13:45 I pray that you're enjoying the program right now. 13:48 I have the privilege and honor to introduce this next artist. 13:53 She is my pastor's wife. 13:55 In my terms, first lady, Mrs. Chavvah Lester. 14:00 Thank you. Welcome to Magnify Him. 14:01 Thank you, so much. 14:03 I appreciate you having me today. 14:05 Now you are of course a pastor's wife. 14:08 Yes. 14:10 So you're in full time ministry. 14:12 Absolutely. 14:14 And you're also a singer. Yes. 14:16 So how do you use your singing abilities 14:20 for the ministry? 14:21 Well, I've been singing for as long as I can remember 14:24 and my husband and I, when we met years ago, 14:29 one of the first things 14:30 he found out was that I could sing 14:32 and so, since then he's been trying to get me to sing 14:34 as much as possible and I appreciate that, 14:36 because I've really been able to develop the talent 14:39 that the Lord has given to me. 14:41 I still have a way to go, 14:42 but I use it by singing the 'appeal' song 14:46 singing on the praise team of which you direct. 14:49 Praise God. Yes. 14:50 And just using it whatever way I can. 14:53 And your husband is a pastor in the South Central Conference. 14:56 Yes. 14:58 Now you were telling me a story backstage that 15:00 there was a particular church that you did not want to leave. 15:04 Well, it, it was a good church. 15:07 And it wasn't so much the church 15:08 that I didn't want to leave although they're great people. 15:12 It was the area, we were in Murfreesboro, Tennessee 15:15 and that's in the Nashville area 15:17 and because I had musical interests, 15:21 I loved the Nashville area for the song writing 15:25 that I was interested in and music 15:26 and I was so sad when we left 15:29 because I hadn't developed that as much as I thought I had, 15:33 that I was going to, 15:35 but I found a great musical community 15:38 at Orchid Park, Seventh-day Adventist Church. 15:41 And of course you're the minister of music there. 15:44 There are so many talented musicians there, 15:47 vocalists, 15:48 who are using their gifts for God 15:50 and so I really do see God's leading even in that, 15:54 just bringing us there, so I praise God for it. 15:56 See, she's pointing the light to other, 15:58 but we want to talk about you, Miss Chavvah, 16:00 because we know that your ministry glorifies God. 16:03 Now, you're mentioning that you're in the middle 16:05 of a project right now, correct? 16:06 Yes, I am in the middle of a CD project and... 16:10 Yeah, what is your style? 16:12 I would say my style is a mix between 16:15 gospel and contemporary Christian, 16:17 and so that's what the CD will be. 16:20 I've done some recording and still a lot to go, 16:24 but hopefully it will be something that will bless 16:27 the world whomever may listen. 16:30 So where are you originally from? 16:32 Okay, so this is also an interesting part too. 16:36 Born, I was born in Lexington, Kentucky, 16:40 but I have lived in Alabama, Michigan, 16:43 Texas and Tennessee now of course. 16:47 My dad is a pastor as well. Okay. 16:49 So, you know, I've lived this life twice 16:52 once as a pastor's daughter and now as a pastor's wife. 16:56 So if you had to do it all over again. 17:01 One, what would you do differently 17:06 with music in ministry? 17:08 Two, would you do it all over again? 17:12 I think I might do some things differently. 17:16 When I was at Oakwood University, 17:19 back then it was Oakwood College 17:21 when I was a student there. 17:22 I sang with a group called ''In Harmony'' 17:25 and I loved singing with, 17:28 they were my friends, they are my friends even now. 17:30 And one other things that I would differently 17:34 is presume music with them. 17:36 I think a lot of us had our own career aspirations 17:41 and I was one of them at the time, 17:43 I studied communication and journalism 17:45 and I thought, "No, I'm not going to do music." 17:48 But now looking back I wish that we had, 17:50 you know, done that together. 17:52 Well, I'm so glad that you're with us today. 17:54 Everybody can go to her Facebook page Chavvah Lester 17:58 to get in contact with you 18:00 and you're going to get to hear her 18:01 right now on Magnify Him. 18:32 I'm nowhere close to a perfect one man 18:39 And it takes a supernatural love 18:42 To even understand 18:45 That beyond the walls behind, the mask and confident smile 18:51 Was a broken girl trying to grow up 18:55 And make life worthwhile 18:58 And I know there were times that you probably shouldn't 19:04 But I thank you for always lovin' me 19:10 If it were anyone else I know they probably wouldn't 19:17 So I thank you for always lovin' me 19:24 You know there were days when I looked at myself 19:29 I felt like less of a person compared to everyone else 19:36 What about this flaw to big to small 19:40 Can I exchange? 19:42 Trying to make-up for where I fell short 19:46 My sense just slipped away 19:49 When I look in the mirror and don't like what I see 19:54 Oh God I thank you for always lovin' me 20:02 I know I get bad but you wait patiently 20:07 Oh Lord thank you for always lovin' me 20:14 Oh I thank you for always lovin' me 20:21 Can I just thank you right now For lovin' me 20:27 So you just keep on lovin' me Lovin' me 20:33 You just love me You love me 20:39 You just love me 20:44 And you don't let go You just keep on lovin' me 20:50 More and more You just love me 20:56 You love You love You love me You'd just love me 21:03 So faithfully 21:06 And it doesn't even matter what I've done what I've said 21:09 He keep lovin' me 21:12 And despite each and every mistake that I make 21:15 You keep lovin' me 21:18 So you just keep on lovin' me 21:22 You love You love You love me 21:24 Yes, You love me You love Me 21:30 So you just keep on lovin' me 21:35 You love me You love me 21:40 Oh, God, you love me 21:45 I thank you for always lovin' me 22:07 Despite of who I am 22:11 In spite of all I've done 22:16 You're always there 22:20 You never leave 22:24 You're right there 22:28 Just lovin' Lovin' me 22:38 The only hope for this broken world 22:41 is Jesus Christ. 22:52 In the beginning Into the darkness 22:55 Your Spirit's moving across the waters 22:59 As you speak the words Let there be light 23:06 Out of the chaos Came the promise 23:10 The universe rose and applauded 23:13 When You commanded The new born sun to rise 23:19 You are the Day Spring 23:23 You are the Morning Star 23:27 Creation's splendor speaks of who You are 23:34 You are Salvation 23:38 You are the Joy of the Earth 23:41 Restoration comes Hope of the broken world 23:53 Into my weakness Into my darkness 23:57 Your Spirit's moving upon my heart an 24:01 You speak the words Let there be light 24:08 Into my chaos Comes Your promise 24:12 The new is rising the old has passed on 24:15 You are reviving and making all things right 24:20 You are the Day Spring 24:25 You are the Morning Star 24:29 Creation's splendor speaks of who You are 24:36 You are Salvation 24:39 You are the Joy of the Earth 24:43 Restoration comes Hope of the broken world 24:51 Arise shine 24:55 The glory of the Lord has risen 24:58 Arise shine 25:02 The glory of the Lord has risen 25:05 Arise and shine 25:09 The glory of the Lord has risen 25:13 Arise Has risen 25:22 You are the Day Spring 25:27 You are the Morning Star 25:31 Creation's splendor speaks of who You are 25:38 You are Salvation 25:41 You are the Joy of the Earth 25:45 Restoration comes Hope of the broken world 25:52 Restoration comes Hope of the broken world 26:04 Into my weakness Into my darkness 26:08 Your Spirit's moving up on my heart 26:12 And You speak the words Let there be light 26:38 Magnify the Lord with me 26:41 Magnify Him. 26:46 Well, another program has come and gone. 26:48 Danita, I was so blessed by today's program. 26:52 I was too, you know, each of our artists today 26:54 had such unique talents. 26:56 Yes, the lady from Australia? 26:59 I know, and you know what's great is that 27:01 even though she came so far, 27:03 Dr. Marcha William had such an amazing testimony. 27:06 It is so important for people to know that 27:08 there is healing power in music, 27:11 especially music about Christ Jesus. 27:13 Oh, definitely, definitely, and, Chavvah Lester, 27:16 I'm so glad that she got to come up here 27:19 to sing with us today. 27:21 I know it was hard for her 27:22 because she has a two and a three year old 27:24 and she left them behind, 27:26 but I know she wants to say, hi to Amelia and Gared. 27:29 She is such an anointed woman of God. 27:31 Absolutely and you know, 27:32 being a pastor's wife is a ministry all on its own 27:34 and that is one thing that we love to highlight 27:37 as the different ministries that we come in contact 27:40 with here on Magnify Him. 27:41 And we hope that you were using 27:43 some of your ministries out there 27:45 in our audience today 27:46 for God and for the purpose of healing people 27:49 and encouraging people in His name. 27:51 Yes, and if you have a submission 27:53 and you want to sing on Magnify Him, 27:54 you can send it to Yvonne.lewis@3abn.org. 28:00 Thank you for joining us and come back again when we 28:03 Magnify Him. |
