00:05 - [Mary Ann] We've grown up in the church 00:06 and have always been somewhat involved in outreach, 00:09 but how can we get involved in missions overseas? 00:13 My name is Mary Ann. 00:15 - [Lilyann] And I'm Lilyann. 00:16 - [Mary Ann] We wanted to find out. 00:18 Join us in our journey. 00:20 (gong sounds) 00:22 To discover the culture, the lifestyle, the need 00:26 and the mission in two of Southeast Asia's 00:29 least reached countries. 00:31 Welcome to Mission Trek. 00:38 - Hey, welcome back. 00:40 - Today, we are gonna see a lot of exciting things 00:42 as well as meet and talk to a mystery missionary. 00:45 - If you remember from last time, 00:47 we arrived in Thailand 00:48 and spent our first couple of days getting over jet lag. 00:51 - Which thankfully wasn't too bad for us this time 00:54 because we went and hiked five miles 00:56 in the freezing weather in China. 00:57 - Yes. 00:58 - So, that kind of helped us adjust 01:00 to the sleeping schedule a little better. 01:01 - And then, Sabbath, after sun down, 01:03 we went and got a fish massage. 01:06 - Which was quite the experience. 01:07 - Definitely. 01:08 - You had fun. 01:10 - Yeah, I did. 01:11 - It tickled so bad. 01:12 We were all screaming. 01:13 - Yes. 01:14 - Well, you were screaming. 01:15 - It was definitely not what I was expecting. 01:17 - Yeah. 01:19 - And then we went back to our hotel and totally crashed 01:21 because we were so exhausted. 01:23 - So tired. 01:24 And then Sunday morning, we had to get up really early 01:26 because we got a tour of the floating market. 01:29 - Which for our viewers, what is a floating market? 01:32 - Well, you'll just have to see. 01:35 (acoustic music) 01:42 - [Lilyann] The place we are going today 01:43 is a floating market called Damneon Saduak. 01:47 It's the most popular floating market for tourists. 01:50 It was built in 1968 01:52 and became a tourist attraction in 1971. 01:59 So, Mary Ann just bought a set of little coin purses 02:03 for people back home to take for them as souvenirs. 02:07 So we got something at the river market. 02:10 - One fifty. (mumbles) 02:16 (laughing) 02:18 - (mumbles) 02:20 - What's that? 02:21 - No. 02:22 - I like the cowboy's hats. 02:24 - What? 02:25 (acoustic music) 02:27 - It's great just being around all the people 02:29 and seeing, like all the activity. 02:34 - And what they do everyday. 02:35 Like, they're here everyday selling stuff and. 02:38 - This is just life to them, 02:39 living on the river in little shacks and 02:43 we saw people that were fishing in the water 02:44 and that's their food, so. 02:47 (inspiring music) 02:53 - They are loose, Lilyann. 02:55 - Oh, my word! 02:56 You're getting this on camera. 02:59 - Snakes are cool, but she doesn't like them. 03:02 - Oh, look at like, the- 03:04 - (mumbles) very cheap for you. 03:08 (inspiring music) 03:12 (group chatters) 03:16 - No, no. 03:16 - [Anonymous Man] No? 03:17 - I can't (drowned out by crowd) 03:19 (inspiring music) 03:39 (crowd chatters) 03:50 - [Mary Ann] Are you having fun? 03:52 - Yeah. 03:53 It's really interesting, really cool. 03:56 (inspiring music) 04:17 - Pythons don't bite people 04:18 - No, they just squeeze the life out of you. 04:23 (inspiring music) 04:30 (crowd chatters) 04:41 - [Anonymous Man] (mumbles) Sorry. 04:49 (gasps) Pooping! (laughs) 04:58 No. 05:03 - [Lilyann] It's good to, the difference, 05:05 Like in America, you would never see something like this 05:08 and it's really good cultural experience 05:10 to see how they actually live. 05:13 - [Anonymous Voice] Water bottle, thank you. 05:15 - Eugh! 05:16 (laughing) 05:17 (inspiring music) 05:24 - (drowned out by crowd) 05:30 - (screams) 05:38 - This is so cool! 05:40 - It's really cool! 05:42 It's just a little bit freaky. 05:47 So, so cool. 05:50 - [Anonymous Male] Lilyann, do you wanna try it? 05:52 - No, no, no, no. 05:53 I am not a snake person. 05:54 I'd rather just watch them. 05:56 - No. 05:57 - [Lilyann] Okay, so we're about to get on a boat 06:00 and go through the village this time instead of the market 06:02 like we did last time. 06:04 It's gonna be a faster boat. 06:06 It has a motor, so. 06:08 It's gonna be awesome! 06:10 (inspiring music) 06:39 We were on the boat going through the village 06:42 and they just dropped us off here 06:44 so we're not really sure what we're doing right now. 06:47 So, as we were on the boat, 06:48 I was just looking at, 06:50 like how life's so much different here. 06:51 They just live in little shacks along the river 06:55 and all their trash and sewer just gets run into the water. 06:59 So I was thinking like, 07:00 what if this is the only part of the world you'd ever seen, 07:02 like this is the only life you've ever known? 07:03 For all these people, that's their reality, 07:06 so it's just we have to reach them somehow 07:10 and you have to be willing to sacrifice a lot to 07:13 to come and live like they do. 07:17 - This stuff here is like 07:19 the traditional tools that they use 07:21 for agriculture, fishing, transportation. 07:28 So we have, like, different things 07:29 like boats and fish traps and plows and scoops 07:36 and just a bunch of really cool stuff 07:38 that's really cool to see 07:40 like the different culture 07:41 and what sort of other tools are different from ours. 07:44 - They put a lot of us in this van. 07:46 Last time we, on the way here, we only had 12 07:48 and I think we have like 16. 07:53 - That's good. 07:54 I like that one. 07:55 - So it's a little tight. 07:55 (somber music) 08:04 - [Anonymous Male] What did you think 08:05 of the whole floating market? 08:06 - It was really, really awesome that we got to go. 08:11 - [Mary Ann] It was, it was incredible experience. 08:13 I got to hold a boa constrictor, 08:15 a really, really big one, and a slow loris 08:19 and they're so awesome. 08:22 Very, very glad that we were able to go. 08:25 She, she didn't hold it. 08:27 She's too chicken. 08:32 - No, I touched the slow loris 08:34 and I looked at the boa constrictor. 08:38 This evening, we are going to a night market, 08:40 so that should be cool, 08:41 'cause neither one of use have done that before either. 08:45 We are in a taxi, which you probably can notice. 08:49 - We've reached the market, 08:51 but we have no way to contact the other half of our group. 08:56 And they're not here yet 08:58 or they're not where we are, 09:00 so we don't really know how to find them. 09:08 So we just have to pray right now. 09:12 - [Lilyann] After a few more minutes of anxious waiting, 09:14 the other half of the group did show up 09:16 and we were able to venture into the public market area. 09:19 There were a lot of different things for sale. 09:21 Of course, Mary Ann found the puppies. 09:25 They also had a local food market, 09:27 so we went there to sample some delicious delicacies. 09:30 Some looked healthy and some didn't, 09:32 and others looked really spicy. 09:35 (calm music) 09:40 After that, we went out into the Chatuchak night market, 09:43 where hundreds of vendors have their stalls set up 09:46 selling all kinds of stuff. 09:47 It is very popular with the locals there 09:50 because you can find great deals. 09:52 Shouldn't there be a booth 09:53 where people can learn about Jesus, also? 09:56 So we've been visiting all these markets 09:58 and doing lots of touristy stuff 10:02 that not many missionaries spend a lot of time 10:05 doing touristy stuff, 10:06 because they are more trying to reach people, obviously. 10:10 But we think it's good to get to know the culture, 10:13 get to know the lifestyle of the locals 10:16 and that way you can reach them more on a level 10:21 that they recognize and understand better 10:25 and can connect with. 10:28 Also, when missionaries, like, 10:29 they have their families come to visit them, 10:31 when they do touristy stuff with them 10:34 and take like, a vacation kind of, 10:37 and then they have places to come and hang out 10:41 and visit with the people also 10:43 and with their family. 10:45 - [Mary Ann] We were tired as we headed back 10:47 to our hotel in Tuk Tuk. 10:49 (calm music) 10:54 - Well, that was well worth getting up early for. 10:56 - Yep, that was a lot of fun. 10:58 - It was. 10:59 - We got to, I mean, I got to hold a snake. 11:02 You were a little hesitant. 11:03 - I was very happy not to be part of that. 11:07 - It was fun though. 11:08 It was big and cuddly. 11:10 - Hardly cuddly. 11:11 - Not words people would usually use 11:13 to describe a snake but- 11:14 - Not words normal people use to describe a snake. 11:17 - True, true. 11:18 - Was like weird looking and weird feeling 11:21 and huge and scary. 11:23 - Well, obviously, I enjoyed the snake, 11:24 but what did you enjoy? 11:26 - I enjoyed the boat ride. 11:28 That was fun. 11:29 - That was fun too, that was. 11:30 - The one with the motor was better 11:31 than the other one that was slower. 11:32 - Yeah, yeah, we had to see, 11:35 you go through really fast. 11:36 Got to see everything. 11:37 - Oh, yeah, going through the village just like seeing, 11:40 like, you could see their homes just right there, 11:42 their porches right above the water and like. 11:45 - Yeah, like that's where they live. 11:46 - That's their whole life, yeah 11:48 - Yeah. 11:49 When going through the market, we also got to stop 11:50 and hold a slow loris, 11:52 which I'd never even seen one before. 11:54 - Neither had I. 11:55 - So, that was really fun. 11:56 - Yeah. 11:57 - So, what is this doing here? 11:59 - Well, during our ride through the market- 12:02 - Mm-hmm. 12:03 - We got a picture taken of us, 12:05 and then they put it on this plate 12:07 and when we were finished, they sold it to us. 12:10 - [Mary Ann] It's a cool, little souvenir. 12:11 Reminder of our awesome time at the floating market. 12:14 - Yeah. 12:15 - Earlier, we were talking about how 12:16 this is real life for people, 12:18 but it kind of just looks like a tourist trap. 12:21 Like, where'd it even come from? 12:23 - Hundreds of years ago, 12:24 the floating market was the only way that people had 12:27 to buy things and get what they needed. 12:29 - Mm-hmm. 12:30 - Because they didn't have a road system. 12:32 They just had canals, 12:33 and that's how they traveled and got around. 12:36 - Wow. 12:38 - Yeah, and Bangkok itself is actually built 12:40 on a swampy area near a river that goes through the city. 12:44 - Oh, okay. 12:45 - And actually sinks some every year. 12:48 - Really? 12:49 - Yeah. 12:50 - Wow, Bangkok is such a huge city though. 12:51 - It is. 12:53 - It's like 13 million people that live there, right? 12:54 - That's what I've heard, yeah. 12:56 - My dad did some calculations 12:57 and there are about 1200 Adventists that live in the city 13:00 and if every Adventist talked to just one person a day, 13:04 it would take 30 years for them to talk to everybody. 13:07 - Wow, that's a long time. 13:09 - It's really daunting. 13:10 There's a lot of work that needs to be done. 13:12 - There is. 13:13 Earlier, we mentioned that we would be 13:15 talking to a mystery missionary. 13:17 We can't tell you her real name 13:19 because she works in a closed country. 13:21 And if the wrong people found out, 13:23 she could get into a lot of trouble. 13:24 We ended up meeting her by accident when we were in Bangkok. 13:28 We actually weren't even planning on interviewing her. 13:31 God just worked it out for her to be in Bangkok 13:33 the same time we were there. 13:34 - Mm-hmm. 13:35 - And I think it's a good thing that we interviewed her. 13:36 - It was. 13:37 I was really inspired 13:38 and I know the viewers will be as well. 13:40 - Yeah. 13:40 - So, it's a little long, 13:41 but we think you'll really enjoy it. 13:44 (calm music) 14:01 - We're here in the middle of Bangkok. 14:03 We're on the roof of our guest house that we're staying in, 14:06 and you can see a pretty good view from here. 14:10 You can hear all the noise 14:11 because there's a construction site right next door to us 14:14 and it's gonna be pretty loud, 14:16 but we're gonna try to make it work. 14:18 So, we're gonna be interviewing Elizabeth. 14:20 She's a missionary and we're really excited 14:22 to get to hear more about what she does. 14:25 - So, our first question to Elizabeth is: 14:26 Where do you work? 14:28 - I work in Asia in a tribal area near a village. 14:32 I came here because this is where 14:35 I really felt God leading me. 14:37 And I currently work as a nurse in a clinic 14:39 and I also help train students 14:42 to become medical missionaries 14:43 and they learn about natural remedies 14:45 so they can work in their home villages 14:48 where medical treatment and doctors and hospitals 14:50 are not available. 14:52 - Why are you doing all this? 14:54 - [Elizabeth] I'm doing this because in high school, 14:57 I really felt God impressing me to become a nurse 15:01 and I felt like he was telling me to become a nurse 15:05 because he knew he wanted me to do medical mission work. 15:09 So, ever since high school, and all through nursing school, 15:11 I knew that I wanted to become a medical missionary. 15:14 And so, now I'm able to use what God has given me, 15:17 what God has taught me, in his service. 15:20 - That's very inspiring. 15:22 - That's great that you were in tune with God 15:25 through high school and stuff, 15:27 and know like, what you felt like what your calling was. 15:33 - So, there was a lot of prayer 15:35 and it took me about a year 15:38 to really listen to God's voice to come here. 15:41 So, I argued with God a little bit 15:43 and all of my reasons for staying in the United States- 15:48 God gave me an answer, 15:49 and so it's like all my excuses for staying, 15:53 God completely erased all of them. 15:56 - What could, like people that are watching, 15:58 and Mary Ann and I, what could we do to help 16:01 with the project you're working with? 16:04 - Definitely prayer, 16:05 because anyone, anywhere, at any time, can always pray 16:08 no matter the situation, no matter how far away you are, 16:11 you can always, always pray 16:12 and that can make a huge difference. 16:14 And also, be prepared to go wherever God leads you. 16:18 Learn as much as you can 16:20 in as many different areas as you can. 16:22 Learn as many different skills as you can. 16:24 Learn electrical work. 16:26 Learn how to make a charcoal poultice. 16:29 Learn how to give a hot foot bath. 16:32 Lots of simple things you can learn at home 16:34 that you can use in the mission field overseas 16:37 and you can also use these things in the mission field 16:39 in your home country. 16:43 - And that's great. 16:44 - I think it's really neat how, like even younger people 16:47 like, can still do stuff even if they're not overseas 16:51 and it's something definitely everyone should consider. 16:55 Definitely prayer especially is very important. 16:59 - In preparing them for- 17:01 - Yes. 17:02 Something that they might be able to do when they're older. 17:03 - Yes, absolutely, and that's very important 17:07 because sometimes, we think we're young 17:09 and there's nothing that we can do now 17:11 and sometimes people think they're too old 17:14 and there's nothing they can do, 17:15 but they can always pray. 17:16 And even though someone may think they're too young 17:19 to do something now, 17:20 they still are in the process of being prepared 17:23 for what God wants to use them for in the future. 17:27 And sometimes, God teaches us lessons or we take a class 17:31 or we have an experience 17:32 and we don't know why this happened. 17:35 It doesn't make any sense. 17:36 It doesn't fit with anything else in the rest of our life, 17:39 but God has a reason for it, 17:42 and so then, one day, it hits! 17:44 (gasps) God, you're so smart! 17:46 This is why you had me learn that. 17:47 This is why you had me in this situation. 17:50 And then it makes sense and you understand 17:52 God really does have a plan. 17:56 And you can really claim the promises of Jeremiah 29:11. 18:01 Where God says, "I know the plans that I have for you. 18:04 Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, 18:06 plans to give you a hope and an expected end." 18:09 So, even though, we don't know what he wants 18:11 to do with us in the future, 18:12 we can still learn as much as we can now 18:14 so that wherever he calls us, 18:16 we can do as much as we can wherever we go. 18:19 - So what is life like for kids over there? 18:22 Like what are some of the differences 18:23 between, like, our life and their life? 18:26 - [Elizabeth] Hmm, There are huge differences. 18:29 For starters, the children do not have the same nurturing 18:33 that most of the children in the US have 18:36 because parents in the US 18:38 usually are very excited and happy to have children 18:41 and people overseas where I work, 18:43 sometimes they're not as excited to have children 18:46 because they think this is another person 18:48 that I have to feed, 18:49 another person that I have to take care of. 18:51 And the children are almost seen as a burden or a curse 18:55 instead of a blessing. 18:57 And so, sometimes the children, 18:59 they don't get the love and the affection 19:01 that they really need, 19:03 and sometimes, they disappear for a couple of days 19:06 and you'll ask the parents, "Where are your children?", 19:08 and they say, "We don't know. 19:10 He left a couple days ago. 19:12 He'll come back in a day or two." 19:14 And, and then also, the parents 19:17 don't always teach their children 19:19 the differences between right and wrong. 19:21 They just let them do whatever they want, 19:23 and then if they make a mistake and they get hurt, 19:26 the parents think, oh that's your own fault 19:28 because you made the mistake. 19:29 But the parents never taught them how to make wise decisions 19:33 and to avoid these mistakes. 19:38 - That's really sad. 19:40 - So, a lot of people think that 19:42 when you go to the mission field, 19:45 you're saving lives everyday 19:47 and you're bandaging machete wounds 19:50 and you're delivering babies 19:52 and you're surviving storms 19:55 but a lot of what happens in the mission field 19:57 is routine daily things. 19:59 You're washing your laundry by hand. 20:00 You're cooking your food over a fire. 20:02 In the midst of all of these things, 20:04 you're witnessing for God. 20:05 When you go and interact in the communities 20:07 and when you are even just doing your laundry 20:10 because we're supposed to do, everything that we do, 20:12 we're supposed to do it to the glory of God. 20:14 So, there are simple things that seem mundane and routine, 20:18 but we still have to do those things to the glory of God. 20:21 And sometimes, people also think 20:24 that they have to be a doctor to go to the mission field, 20:26 or they have to be a pastor to preach, 20:29 but that's not true at all. 20:30 And there are even things that you girls know 20:32 that people in the villages may not know. 20:34 So for example, you know you should wash your hands 20:37 after using the restroom, 20:39 and you should wash your hands before you prepare food. 20:42 You should wash your hands before you eat. 20:44 You should take a bath every day so you can be clean. 20:47 You should brush your teeth 20:48 so your teeth don't rot and fall out. 20:50 But many people in the villages, they don't know this, 20:53 So there's so much that you could teach even adults 20:56 that are two or three times your age. 20:58 - Wow. 21:00 - So there's a lot that you already know 21:01 that you could teach. 21:03 - I guess you take for granted 21:04 that everybody just knows that stuff. 21:07 - It's true. 21:08 It's really true. 21:09 And that's one of the things 21:10 that's so different about the culture is that 21:13 they don't even know how to wash their hands 21:16 with soap and water. 21:17 They may have never used soap in their life, 21:20 and then they get lots of diseases. 21:22 They get sick because they're not cleaning their hands, 21:26 they're not washing their fruits before they eat them. 21:29 And so, if you can just teach people simple education 21:32 of how to prepare food in a clean way, 21:35 how to have a clean body, 21:37 then you can actually save lives just by washing hands 21:41 and teaching them to wash their hands. 21:45 - Wow. 21:46 - So, you can make a big difference 21:48 with what you already have and what you already know. 21:51 - I think that's really inspiring, 21:53 like for people who don't have lots of talents maybe, 21:55 like there's special people 21:58 that aren't very special people, maybe. 22:00 - [Elizabeth] Mm-hmm. 22:01 - 'Cause like even the simple stuff 22:02 can make such a big difference. 22:04 - Yes, exactly, and there's a saying I really like 22:07 and it says, "God does not call the qualified. 22:12 He qualifies the called.", 22:14 so he can call us to do something and we think, 22:16 "God, what am I gonna do?" 22:17 And then once we get there, we realize, 22:20 "Oh, this is what you want me to do." 22:22 and God can give you the training that you need. 22:26 - It sounds like there's a lot of 22:27 challenges and difficulties maybe, 22:29 but what really keeps you here? 22:32 - What keeps me here is, 22:34 definitely, I know that this is God's will for my life 22:38 beyond a shadow of a doubt. 22:40 And even though I haven't been here very long, 22:42 I've completely fallen in love with the culture 22:45 and the people and the food and the work that I do 22:49 and the people have really become like my family 22:53 and the place has become like my home. 22:55 So, when I talk about going back to the states to visit, 22:59 instead of saying, "I'm going back home.", 23:01 I say, "I'm going to the states." 23:03 because I think of this as my home now. 23:06 It's not like I'm just here for a job. 23:10 I'm here fully, completely dedicated 23:13 to wherever God leads while I'm here. 23:15 - I feel like that should always be 23:17 like, if you're gonna be a missionary, 23:19 you should always be sure 23:21 that that's where God's leading you 23:22 and you should always, like, 23:23 don't just do it for a job or something. 23:27 You should always be, like, dedicated 23:28 and want to actually make a difference. 23:31 - Yes. 23:32 - To have that passion. 23:32 - Yes, absolutely. 23:34 Even if we're doing something we may not enjoy, 23:38 we can still pray and ask God to help us enjoy that. 23:41 So, we may think, ugh, I'm cleaning the bathroom. 23:43 This is no fun. 23:45 But it can be a blessing. 23:47 And one good friend of mine, 23:49 we both do not like washing our laundry by hand 23:52 because it takes so much time 23:53 and we feel like there's nothing we can do. 23:55 We're just wasting all this time. 23:58 But we both realized, we can listen to sermons 24:00 while we're doing our laundry. 24:03 So now, it's like, "Hey, I'm gonna go do my laundry today." 24:06 I'm really excited because now I have time 24:08 to listen to this sermon I've really been wanting 24:10 to listen to, 24:11 or to call a family member and talk to, 24:13 or a friend 24:15 that we haven't been able to talk to in a long time. 24:16 So now, we actually look forward to our laundry time 24:19 because we know it's a time 24:20 that we're not gonna be distracted by anything 24:22 because our hands are in a bucket of soapy water. 24:25 So, we can just talk on the phone 24:27 or we can listen to a sermon or a Bible story or something. 24:30 So, even something we hated doing, 24:32 God has now turned that into a blessing for us. 24:34 (booms) 24:36 - It's so amazing how God 24:37 can change our point of view of something. 24:41 A big question that I have, 24:42 and I'm sure people at home that are watching, 24:44 they're very interested to know is Jesus worth it? 24:47 Is being a missionary, is the struggles of the hardships, 24:53 Is it all going to be worth it? 24:55 - [Elizabeth] Absolutely. 24:56 That's a great question. 24:58 And for me, the answer is yes, beyond a shadow of a doubt. 25:03 Because I know that no matter what happens in this life, 25:07 no matter what I do in this life, 25:09 what really matters is eternity, 25:12 so, what am I doing now to prepare myself for eternity? 25:16 And what am I doing now to help prepare others for eternity? 25:22 If we know that we have served him completely, 25:24 then he will take care of us 25:26 and he will provide all of our needs. 25:29 - This is, you've really inspired me. 25:31 I really have enjoyed getting to know about what you do 25:34 and what your life is like and God bless. 25:38 - Praise God! 25:39 Thank you, God bless both of you. 25:40 - Thank you. 25:41 (calm music) 25:51 - Just watching that again re-inspires me. 25:54 - Me too. 25:55 - We had so much fun hanging out with her. 25:57 - Yeah. 25:58 - Like, she's so energetic and passionate 25:59 about what she does. 26:00 - I think a lot of times, 26:01 people think that being a Christian means that 26:04 you have to be sad and serious. 26:07 But no, when you're really surrendered to Jesus 26:09 and living in him, then it's joyful. 26:13 - It is, and she's a great example of that. 26:15 - Mm-hmm. 26:16 - I really like how from a young age, 26:17 she was surrendered to God about her future. 26:20 - Mm-hmm. 26:20 - And open to his leading. 26:22 - Yeah, and her surrender really inspires me too. 26:25 And surrender isn't just like, okay, I'm gonna die now. 26:28 - Yeah. 26:29 - It's more like, I'm okay if you want me to die. 26:33 - Mm-hmm, exactly. 26:35 - That allows God's plan to work 26:37 and he's much better at planning than we are. 26:39 - He is. 26:41 An example of that is how Elizabeth was so prepared 26:43 to just be over there and living in a mud hut 26:46 with the bare necessities. 26:48 - Mm-hmm. 26:48 - But then, when she got there, 26:49 God had provided a nice room for her 26:51 that was way better than she had been preparing for. 26:55 - Yeah, and that doesn't always happen. 26:57 - Exactly. 26:58 - Like, sometimes you surrender for bad things 27:00 and the bad things still happen. 27:02 But, it's just when you allow God to lead 27:04 that we'll be happy. 27:05 - And Elizabeth didn't have it easy. 27:07 She had obstacles to overcome 27:09 after she felt God leading her overseas. 27:11 - Mm-hmm. 27:12 - [Lilyann] God helped her to step out 27:14 of the typical American life that we live here 27:16 and overcome people's expectations of you 27:21 as you grow up. 27:22 You know, go to college, get a job, get married. 27:24 You know, all that stuff, and just stay here. 27:27 And there's so much work to do outside of here. 27:29 - Yeah, for sure. 27:31 And we just wanted to remind you guys not to be held back 27:34 by what other people think of you 27:36 and not to put others' expectations 27:38 above what God's plans for you are. 27:40 - 'Cause his way is always better in the long run. 27:43 Join us next week on Mission Trek 27:45 as we travel to Northern Thailand. 27:47 - And until then, remember to pray for the unreached. 27:50 (inspiring music) |
