01:03 Hello.
01:04 My name is Pastor Brenda Billingy 01:05 from Bladensburg Church in Maryland. 01:08 And joining me today is the MetroSingers 01:11 from the Metropolitan Church in Hyattsville, Maryland. 01:14 We are teaming up you today to share with you 01:17 an hour of beautiful music. 01:21 Music is soothing to the soul. 01:24 Whenever you are in trouble, 01:27 whenever you need to connect with God in a special way, 01:30 music can always come in as the instrument 01:34 and the tool that would bring you 01:35 into the very throne room of God. 01:39 Our nation right now is at war, 01:43 and during times of warfare, 01:46 it gets very difficult sometimes 01:50 to stay in touch and in tune with God. 01:54 One of my church members said to me the other day, 01:57 that she has a granddaughter serving in Iraq. 02:00 She called her to say, "Grandma, 02:03 could you find a way to get me out of this place?" 02:07 Well, Grandma, couldn't really get her out, 02:10 but what she could do is, send her a word from God, 02:16 a word that would lift her up, a word that would inspire her, 02:20 and keep her going in times of warfare. 02:24 There are times in our lives 02:26 when we go through spiritual warfare. 02:29 We may not have the answers we need, 02:31 things may not be going the way that they should. 02:35 And during those times, 02:37 we have the word of God to keep us inspired. 02:42 And we have it in word and in song 02:45 to uplift our souls. 02:48 Now in warfare it is very important for you 02:52 to have a commander who is a military man. 02:56 In the scriptures, 02:58 it describes a word for our father, 03:01 our heavenly Father as a military warfare man 03:05 and the name is Sabaoth. 03:09 If you look in scripture, 03:10 that word indicates that God is the Lord of hosts. 03:16 He leads the army, and whenever you call on Him, 03:21 He is there to support and help and strengthen you. 03:25 In warfare, 03:27 there are some instruments that are very, very necessary 03:31 if you are going to survive. 03:34 The first instrument will be a sword. 03:39 The sword is the word of God. 03:45 If you have the word of God in your heart, 03:49 you will be able to survive the attacks of the enemy. 03:53 Now the Bible also says that the sword, 03:56 the word should be in your mouth 03:59 as well as in your heart. 04:02 It's very difficult at times 04:05 to keep God's word alive in our spirits, 04:09 when everything around us seems to be falling apart. 04:14 But if we with determination, everyday pick up the sword, 04:20 pick up the word of God, and look in there, 04:24 it will give you what you need to survive for that day. 04:30 God's word is a lamp onto our feet, 04:34 and a light onto our path. 04:36 And most of all, it brings peace to us. 04:41 The Bible tells us, be anxious for nothing, 04:45 but in everything with prayer, supplication and thanksgiving. 04:50 Just let your request be made known to God. 04:53 And the peace of God that passes all understanding 04:57 will keep your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. 05:03 In times of warfare you need the sword, 05:08 the word of God. 05:13 Come thou fount of every blessing 05:19 Tune my heart to sing thy grace 05:26 Streams of mercy never ceasing 05:33 Call for songs of loudest praise 05:39 Teach me some melodious sonnet 05:46 Sung by flaming tongues above 05:53 Praise the mount I'm fixed feel it 07:17 Prone to leave the God I love 07:21 Here's my heart, O take and seal it 07:26 Seal it for thy courts above 07:28 Jesus sought me when a stranger 07:33 Wondering from the fold of God the peace 19:55 That Jesus gives 20:05 Is the peace 20:07 That Jesus gives. 20:26 The songs you heard were songs of peace. 20:29 They remind us that in times of warfare, 20:33 we can still have peace with the word of God, 20:36 the sword that He gives to us. 20:39 Joshua had to got to battle, and in doing so, 20:44 the first thing that the Lord reminded him, 20:46 was that he needed to take his sword with him. 20:50 The scripture says, 20:51 that "If you will heed my commands, 20:55 meditate on them day and night, 20:57 and then do according to all that I say. 21:01 Then you will make your way prosperous, 21:03 and then you will have good success. 21:06 Joshua was a smart warrior, he took the Lord's advice, 21:12 took the sword with him, 21:14 and rejoiced for the victory that he knew would be his. 21:19 But it's one thing to receive a promise from God, 21:22 and rejoice about it. 21:24 It's another thing to come close enough 21:27 to the Jordan River, 21:30 and realize that you do have to cross this river. 21:34 In those times, 21:36 the sword is not the instrument that you'll need. 21:41 Now you would need something totally different, 21:44 it would be a shield, a shield of faith. 21:51 The shield of faith, 21:54 this is what God gives us 21:57 when we are in times of struggle and warfare, 22:02 but still need to hold on to our hope. 22:06 Hope does not make us ashamed. 22:09 The shield of faith will keep away 22:12 all the fiery darts of the enemy. 22:16 But you have to wear the shield, 22:18 you must put it on everyday. 22:21 Just as you pick up the sword, 22:24 you must arm yourself with a shield. 22:28 Now this all seems very, very simple. 22:32 But in times of warfare, 22:36 when you cannot see your way clear, 22:39 it is not as easy 22:40 to keep on your shield of faith. 22:44 I have a friend 22:45 who is going through a very tough time right now, 22:48 dealing with ovarian cancer, 22:51 and it's so difficult sometimes from day to day, 22:54 just for her to recall the promises of healing 22:58 that God has given her, knowing that He can 23:01 and will stay true to those promises. 23:04 Everyday she has to pick up her shield, put it on, 23:11 and be sure that it covers her heart. 23:14 Because the enemy always comes in 23:17 with a fiery darts to make you fearful and afraid 23:22 that God's promises will not hold true for you. 23:27 Remember as you listen to the songs coming up, 23:31 that God needs to see your faith well in advance 23:36 before you cross your Jordan River. 23:40 Joshua had to wait 23:41 until the priest actually stepped into the water. 23:47 Before they could see the waters part, 23:50 and a path cut into the sea. 23:54 Now, some of you may be struggling 23:56 with different issues, 23:58 some of you maybe experiencing illnesses, 24:01 sicknesses, pains, struggles, 24:03 your children may be having difficulties, 24:06 but God has a secret path already cut in the sea. 24:12 You however have to put on your shield of faith 24:16 from day to day. 24:17 And if He says to you, 24:20 "I will take care of all your needs," 24:23 you must step out in faith and receive that promise. 24:28 Sometimes He may tell you, I will never leave you, 24:34 I'll never forsake you, step out in faith 24:38 and believe what He had said, 24:41 knowing that His promises never return void. 24:45 They will always accomplish the thing 24:48 for which it was sent. 24:50 Hold strong to your shield of faith. 24:55 In the Lord 25:01 In the Lord 25:07 My soul's been 25:12 Anchored 25:16 In the Lord 25:22 My soul's and the shield 37:01 to help you everyday to eliminate fear. 37:05 The Bible tells us 37:07 that the enemy comes in like a roaring lion. 37:10 He's seeking whom he may devour, 37:13 and everyday He comes in with situations 37:17 and circumstances 37:19 that cause us to respond in fear. 37:22 If we remember just to pick up the sword and the shield, 37:27 we have protection against the enemy. 37:31 Now sometimes you may forget to pick up your Bible, 37:35 but there are songs 37:37 that remind us of the scriptures 37:40 that are written in the Bible. 37:42 You've heard such beautiful songs today, 37:45 as you sing them in your hearts, 37:47 they remind you that God is still alive and well. 37:52 He is still willing to hear and answer and rescue, 37:57 and deliver you out of trouble. 38:00 In times of warfare, 38:02 we need a sword, we need a shield, 38:06 but there is one more item that's important. 38:10 In the story of Joshua, when they crossed the Jordan, 38:16 they finally got to the city, 38:19 the city that was walled, shut tight. 38:23 What do you do 38:25 when you finally get to your destination, 38:28 and it seems like it's not open, 38:31 it's not available to you. 38:33 One thing you can do is shout. 38:38 It's the sword, the shield and a shout. 38:44 Joshua was commanded 38:46 to begin walking around the city. 38:50 One time, everyday, they circled around the city. 38:55 On the seventh day, 38:57 they were supposed to go around seven times, 39:01 and blow the trumpets, and shout loud enough. 39:06 And something miraculous was supposed to happen, 39:10 when they raised a shout. 39:14 The same thing happens with us in life. 39:17 Sometimes we pick up the sword, sometimes we have our shield. 39:22 Preferably we pick them up both at the same time everyday. 39:27 But sometimes you need to go beyond that, 39:30 and just give God a shout of praise. 39:34 Praise God 39:36 in the times when you still don't see your way clear. 39:41 Praise Him 39:43 in the times when the obstacle might still be standing 39:47 right in front of you. 39:49 God wants to see us go beyond, 39:52 just one step beyond in our faith, 39:56 where we trust Him to know, 39:58 that He will open the doors when we get there. 40:04 So they marched around the city, 40:07 the first couple of days all seemed pretty quiet. 40:13 They got to the seventh day however, 40:16 and on the seventh day, they picked up the trumpets, 40:22 and those trumpets were the jubilee trumpets. 40:26 Those were the trumpets that declared, 40:29 that we are joyful, and we are excited 40:32 because God is about to win, and we will be victorious. 40:38 They blew the trumpets 40:40 as they marched around the city, 40:43 and on the queue, when He said, "Shout," 40:48 all the people, 40:50 the host of them raised their voices together 40:54 in a shout of victory. 40:56 They were excited to see what happened next. 41:01 Right before their very eyes, 41:04 the walls came crashing down. 41:09 You may be experiencing some issues, 41:13 that you're not quite certain 41:15 as to how they will be resolved. 41:18 Just trust God. 41:20 You already have your sword, you've picked up your shield. 41:24 Now raise a shout onto God. 41:28 A shout of victory, a shout of triumph, 41:32 that lets the enemy know, 41:34 that by the power of God almighty, 41:38 the walls will come tumbling down. 41:43 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 41:45 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 41:48 Joshua fit the battle of Jericho 41:51 Jericho, Jericho 41:54 Joshua fit the battle of Jericho 41:56 And the walls come tumbling down 41:58 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 42:00 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 42:03 Joshua fit the battle of Jericho 42:05 Jericho, Jericho 42:08 Joshua fit the battle of Jericho 42:10 And the walls come tumbling down 42:12 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 42:15 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 42:17 Talk about your kings of Gideon 42:20 Talk about the men of Saul 42:22 But none like good old Joshua 42:25 And the battle of Jericho 42:27 That morning 42:28 Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, 42:30 Jericho, Jericho 42:33 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 42:36 And the walls come tumbling down 42:37 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 42:39 Joshua fit the battle, fit the battle of Jericho 42:42 Right up to the walls of Jericho 42:44 Jericho 42:45 He marched with spear in hand 42:47 "Go blow that ram horn," Joshua cried, 42:50 'Cause the battle am in my hands" 42:52 God almighty then the lamb ram sheep horn begins to blow 42:56 And the trumpets began to sound 42:59 And Joshua commanded the children to shout! 43:01 And the walls come a tumbling down 43:03 Oh Lord, you know that Joshua fit the battle, 43:05 the battle of Jericho 43:06 Joshua fit the battle, the battle of Jericho 43:09 Joshua fit the battle, the battle of Jericho 43:12 The walls come tumbling down 43:13 Oh Lord, you know that Joshua fit the battle, 43:16 the battle of Jericho 43:17 Joshua fit the battle, the battle of Jericho 43:20 Joshua fit the battle, the battle of Jericho 43:24 The walls 43:30 Come 43:33 Tumbling down. 43:46 Oh what a beautiful city 43:54 Oh 43:56 What a beautiful city 44:02 Oh 44:05 what a beautiful city 44:11 Twelve gates into the through the valley in peace." 49:42 We shall walk through any valley in peace. 49:46 With Jesus Himself to be our leader, 49:51 we can walk through any valley in peace. 49:55 In times of warfare, 49:58 it seems as though sometimes it's a lonely journey, 50:02 sometimes it's a frustrating journey. 50:06 Sometimes we get impatient with our journey, 50:10 but if we can only remember, that as we walk through it, 50:15 we are not by ourselves. 50:18 The Lord Himself has promised to be with us in every trial, 50:25 in every situation, in every struggle, 50:29 even with those who are literally at war right now. 50:34 And so as you listen to the songs of warfare, 50:39 we were encouraged 50:41 by picking up our sword everyday, 50:44 the word of God, the word that never returns void. 50:49 We were also encouraged to keep our shield of faith. 50:54 When it's dark 50:55 and you cannot see your way clear, 50:58 just hold on to God in faith, 51:03 and know that He will not let you fall. 51:08 And then we go one step further, 51:12 and we raise a shout everyday. 51:15 A shout of triumph, 51:17 a shout of victory to let the enemy know, 51:21 that by the grace of God, we will be victorious. 51:26 And we are trusting God for it. 51:29 Now someone may be lying in a hospital bed, 51:34 even as you look at this program. 51:37 And it seems like, yes, that sounds good, 51:41 but I'm still lying here. 51:44 What do I do? 51:46 Let me encourage you today, 51:48 whatever may be going on in your life, 51:51 sing, sing a song. 51:55 It always makes you feel better. 51:57 It lifts your spirit closer, 52:00 and prayerfully the songs that you heard today 52:04 were inspiring enough, 52:07 that whatever you may be going through right now. 52:11 You're now convicted and convinced, 52:15 that you can make it 52:18 by the grace and the help of God. 52:23 And so, as we get close 52:24 to the end of our program today, 52:27 we just wanted to share these songs with you 52:30 as songs of encouragement, songs of hope, 52:35 songs that will lift you up to the very throne room of God. 52:40 And know that the peace of God that pass it all understanding, 52:46 surely will keep you through your trial 52:50 and through your struggle. 52:52 We said, you need the sword, 52:58 this is the word of God. 53:02 It represents Him, and the power as you read it, 53:06 is available to you to use against your enemy 53:11 every time he comes up against you in battle. 53:14 The sword is a two edged sword, 53:17 and it will do what God says, it will do. 53:23 The shield, the shield of faith, 53:27 we are encouraging you to remember the shield. 53:31 As you walk through your faith journey, 53:34 know that whatever God has promised, 53:38 He is able to deliver. 53:41 The Bible says, he can do exceedingly, abundantly 53:45 above all that you can ask or think, 53:50 its according though to the power 53:53 that worketh in you. 53:56 The sword, the shield, and a shout, 54:01 open your mouth to God right now, 54:04 praise Him for He's already done in your life. 54:08 Thank Him for the promises that He has given you today. 54:13 And then look forward to what he will do for you 54:17 in the future on your tomorrows. 54:20 God is good. 54:22 All good and perfect gifts come from Him. 54:27 And the gift of protection as given to us in Psalm 91, 54:33 is your word from God that let's you know, 54:37 that He will be there for you at all the times. 54:42 Be encouraged with God at your side. 54:54 We shall walk 54:57 In peace 55:05 We shall walk 55:09 Through the valley in peace 55:14 We shall walk in peace 55:18 We shall walk 55:22 Through the valley 55:26 In peace 55:32 For Jesus Himself will be 55:40 Our leader 55:49 We shall walk 55:54 Through the valley 55:58 In peace 56:12 We shall walk 56:15 In peace 56:22 We will be taller 56:29 Lord say 56:35 We will be taller 56:43 Lord say 56:49 For Jesus Himself will be 56:57 Our leader 57:06 We shall walk 57:11 Through the valley 57:15 In peace 57:22 There will be no more trials 57:29 There will be no more trials 57:34 There will be 57:38 No more trials 57:44 There 57:49 For Jesus Himself 57:56 Will be your leader 58:06 We shall walk 58:12 through the valley 58:16 in peace 58:32 We shall walk 58:39 In peace. |
