Amen. 05:49 We started out last Sabbath as yours truly. 05:52 We began our nine parts series 05:55 on "Where Are All His Miracles," 05:57 and we've had one anointed 06:00 blessed speaker after the other. 06:01 And today Pastor Jim Gilley is going to be the one 06:04 who puts the capstone closing out our week of revival 06:08 as we look to the Lord 06:09 for the transforming miracle of His grace 06:11 and we would like to encourage you 06:14 to continue praying for the Lord 06:16 to transform your life, not just miracles outside 06:19 but the greater miracle inside transforming us 06:23 to be more like His son Christ Jesus. 06:26 Today our scripture reading will be brought to us 06:28 by one of our elders, Steve Nelson. 06:31 After that Brother Danny Shelton, 06:33 the founder of 3ABN, 06:34 will bless us with a wonderful song 06:36 entitled "Undeserving." 06:38 And the next voice you'll hear 06:39 after that is Pastor Jim Gilley, 06:41 the president and the one God has chosen 06:45 to bring the message this morning entitled, 06:47 "I believe In Miracles.'' 06:48 He is the president of Three Angels Broadcasting Network. 06:51 Steve, come and bless us 06:53 as you share with us the word of God. 06:59 Good morning. 07:01 Turn with me in your Bibles to Mark Chapter 11. 07:05 We're going be looking at verses 22 to 24. 07:08 Mark 11:22 to 24. 07:15 "So Jesus answered and said to them, 07:18 "Have faith in God. 07:20 For assuredly, I say to you, 07:22 whosoever says to this mountain, 07:25 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' 07:27 and does not doubt in his heart, 07:29 but believes that those things he says will be done, 07:34 will have whatever he says. 07:36 Therefore I say to you, 07:39 whatever things you ask when you pray, 07:42 believe that you receive them, and you will have them. 07:46 May He who is the word 07:47 add His blessing to the reading, 07:49 the hearing, the singing and the speaking of His Word." 07:58 I don't deserve 08:02 To come to You, Lord 08:07 With my troubles 08:09 And selfish pleas 08:16 But I know I have failed You 08:20 In so many ways 08:25 But never have You failed 08:29 To meet all my needs 08:35 I am the least 08:40 In Your 14:01 Love me Lord 14:09 Amen. 14:15 Thank you, Danny. 14:17 You know that's where it all begins with miracles 14:21 is realizing you don't deserve it. 14:25 If you feel like you deserve a miracle, 14:27 you'll never have one I guarantee you. 14:30 Because God understands and knows our hearts 14:33 better than anybody else 14:36 and He is the one that really and truly 14:42 can help us in every single way 14:46 in our lives, only Jesus. 14:51 Love that theme song, It Took A Miracle. 14:54 It's been a favorite of mine for a long time. 14:56 David Peterson, who was my singing evangelist 14:59 when we were holding evangelistic meetings 15:02 all over the northeast used to sing that song 15:06 in the meetings that we conducted 15:08 and how I loved to hear it. 15:10 David Peterson, he is living down in Florida now. 15:13 He sings down there and leads the choir 15:15 and directs the choir to church in Florida, 15:18 one of our churches in Orlando area. 15:21 He sounds as much like George Beverly Shea 15:25 as anybody that I have ever known. 15:28 I suppose that's what it really attracted me to him so much 15:32 because Beverly Shea 15:33 was just one of my favorite singers. 15:36 When I heard David sing 15:38 and somebody introduced me to him. 15:40 I knew that this had to be my singer. 15:43 And so I called him to come and to be with me. 15:49 By the way Joe, your grandfather 15:52 paid that first year's salary that he was our evangelist, 15:58 Brother Werdy 15:59 and I have never forgotten that. 16:02 Really he is such a dedicated man. 16:05 But I am-- and that's the first time 16:07 I have ever told anybody that too. 16:09 So keep that to yourself, would you? 16:11 That's kind of a confidential thing, 16:14 it's-- this is so confidential, 16:16 I am only telling one audience at a time 16:19 and but David could really sing 16:26 and I remember one night 16:29 we were in a big auditorium pitched. 16:33 Now that auditorium was hard to put up. 16:36 We had a fellow with the name of Judd Jamieson, 16:38 who was worked for the conference, 16:41 Judd's a good friend of mine 16:43 and Judd would put that auditorium up 16:46 and every time I would tell him 16:49 because it was so exasperating to get it just right 16:52 and it would bother him so much, 16:54 I'd say, you know, Judd, 16:55 we're guaranteed of at least one rebaptism 16:58 in each meeting and it's yours 17:00 because you lose your religion putting this up. 17:04 But I remember one night, David, was singing, 17:08 we had a pastor and his wife 17:11 who had recently come from Denmark 17:15 and they were adjusting to America and they were, 17:21 I remember she was in the back 17:23 and I could tell that she was so upset 17:27 and I thought, what is bothering her? 17:30 So I slipped out around and I went to her and I said, 17:33 what's wrong? 17:35 And she said, that's too far, 17:37 that's too much, that's going too far. 17:41 I said what? 17:43 David would sing in a way "It Took A Miracle." 17:46 She said to sing it took America 17:49 to put the stars in space. 17:54 I told David, you got to pronounce 17:57 that L a little better you know, 17:59 it took a miracle to put the stars in space. 18:04 And I will never forget that 18:07 when I finally showed her the words that, 18:09 she said he is singing it took America 18:12 and when I finally showed her the words of the song 18:16 she was quite relieved that 18:18 we didn't actually believe that. 18:23 The Bible is so clear that God is a God of miracles. 18:29 Last night Danny shared some fantastic stories 18:32 and we all really enjoyed listening to those 18:36 and he talked about all of these miracles 18:39 and he mentioned the fact that 18:40 if you just dismiss it as a coincidence 18:45 or happenstance or whatever, 18:48 then you will never have a miracle in your life. 18:52 You see these things don't just happen accidentally. 18:55 They are things that God is very much a part of. 19:00 A man with the name of Glenn Coon, 19:02 had a ministry a number of years ago 19:04 and some of you are nodding, you remember him. 19:07 And he would talk about the ABC's of prayer. 19:10 I've never known a man, 19:12 never met a man with greater faith than Glenn Coon. 19:16 And I was privileged to be able to sit at his feet 19:19 a number of times and appreciate his ministry. 19:23 Ask, believe, claim, the ABC's of Bible prayer 19:29 and if you expect a miracle in your life 19:32 and it may be a financial miracle, 19:34 it may be a physical miracle, it may be a spiritual miracle, 19:37 it may be a family miracle, you must first ask. 19:44 You know, the problem with us 19:45 is so many times we don't ask, 19:46 we have not the Bible says, 19:48 because we ask not. 19:50 We just worry about it. 19:52 We think worrying is asking. No, it isn't. 19:56 We think mulling over it is asking. 19:58 No, it isn't. 20:00 We need to be specific in asking our Lord. 20:05 It tells us in Matthew 7:7, 20:09 it says, "Ask, and it shall be given you, 20:12 seek and you shall find, knock, 20:15 and it shall be opened unto you." 20:19 For everyone in verse 8 that asketh receiveth. 20:23 Everyone it says. 20:26 That hat asketh receiveth. 20:29 Now you say, we say that well, 20:30 wait a minute I have asked and I didn't receive. 20:34 Let me say something to you. 20:38 You are trying to call God's timing. 20:44 God has a timing. 20:47 We ask for something, 20:49 He may know that right then is not the right time 20:53 for that particular thing. 20:56 He may even know that never is the right time 21:00 for that particular thing. 21:02 So you have to leave it into His wisdom. 21:06 My son, Jim, called me, 21:08 actually he text messaged me this morning. 21:10 Have a sermon titled for you he said, 21:13 He always does the right thing, 21:16 talking about God. 21:17 He always does the right thing. 21:20 I said, well, I work on the sermon on that later 21:22 but right now that fits into this message. 21:25 You see when we ask, 21:27 God answers it right then if that's the right thing, 21:32 in time if that's the right thing. 21:35 In eternity if that is the right thing. 21:42 God is not going to perform a miracle 21:45 that's going to hurt you. 21:47 He is not going to give you something you ask 21:50 for that's going to hurt or destroy 21:53 or cause you to be lost. 21:57 And you see we get the idea sometimes that 22:00 just whatever we ask for is just exactly 22:03 what God would have us to have. 22:06 But that may not be exactly the case. 22:10 The second thing is to believe. 22:14 Believe Mark Chapter 11, part of our text today. 22:17 And it says in verse 24. 22:20 "Therefore I say unto you, 22:22 what things so ever you desire when you pray, 22:24 believe that you receive them, 22:27 and ye shall have them." 22:32 Believe. 22:34 So you ask and you believe 22:38 and then the third is to claim. 22:42 And the Bible says that Jesus said in Mark Chapter 11, 22:46 pardon me John 11: 41, 22:49 "Then they took away the stone from the place 22:51 where the dead was laid." 22:52 This is at the raising of Lazarus. 22:56 "And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, 22:59 father I thank Thee that Thou hast heard me. 23:04 I thank Thee that Thou hast heard me." 23:08 You know, we have to right then, 23:11 after we ask, after we believe, 23:13 we need to thank the Lord for giving us the answer. 23:17 Sometimes we are not willing to do that. 23:20 Thank Him. 23:21 Receive it and then don't keep begging Him for things. 23:27 You ask Him, you believe, 23:30 you claim, you leave it to Him. 23:32 You don't have to keep reminding Him, He knows. 23:37 Last night Danny told about the lady. 23:40 Simple little prayer walked off. 23:43 I'm going to tell you something. 23:45 If God is going to answer it, 23:46 it's going to be from a simple old prayer. 23:49 He is going to answer it. 23:50 But if you are going to see the result, 23:52 it's not the amount of pray, 23:54 it's not the way you lower your voice 23:57 and sound spiritual, it's not all of that. 24:01 You don't have to act like you have 24:04 as Fordyce Detamore used to say, 24:05 some of these fellows get so spiritual, 24:08 they sound like they have spiritual TB he said. 24:11 Where they get-- 24:14 you know, God can hear you just in your voice. 24:17 You don't have to yell, you don't have to whisper. 24:20 You don't have to try to sound like a woman to pray. 24:23 You are not going to fool Him, He knows who you are. 24:25 That's right. 24:27 Talk to Him in your voice. 24:31 Worked for the preacher one time, 24:32 loved him, I was a young preacher, 24:34 and he said Jim, your prayers are too simple. 24:38 I said what do you mean? 24:40 I just talk to the Lord. 24:42 No, he said when you are upfront, 24:44 this is a good man by the way, very good man. 24:47 I was privileged to work with this man 24:50 but we had difference of opinion on this one subject. 24:54 And, boy, he prayed, I will tell you 24:56 when he prayed you looked around, 24:58 you thought you know, this is-- he had a warrior's voice, 25:01 he had a great voice to start with, 25:04 and he would sound so good when he prayed. 25:08 He said you need to get out of the Psalms, 25:10 you need to take those phrases, 25:12 you need to write out your prayers, 25:14 get them just right and then pray them. 25:18 You know, I pray and I talk to God 25:23 as if I talk to a friend. 25:26 Even in public I am sorry, 25:29 I just say what is laid upon my heart. 25:32 Say it, drop it, if it didn't sound spiritual. 25:35 I am very sorry, 25:37 if it doesn't sound like Charlton Heston, I apologize. 25:43 I just simply open up my heart to the Lord and talk to Him. 25:49 And let me tell you, I believe that's the way. 25:52 Sometimes I love to hear a prayer 25:54 like he is talking about. 25:56 Sometimes I do, for a little while. 25:58 Then after little bit they get kind of, 26:00 you know, they kind of weary you out 26:01 a little bit after while. 26:04 I just want to hear what comes out of here. 26:07 Just receiving and asking believing and claiming. 26:14 Now there are some of you who do not believe 26:17 that this could be according to the Spirit of Prophecy. 26:22 Could not be further wrong. 26:24 Write these down, education and if you don't get them, 26:28 you can get it from me later. 26:30 Pages 253 and 258, now this is where you will, 26:36 in no other place but there are some other places 26:39 but here it talks about how to pray, 26:42 how to receive an answer from your prayer. 26:47 And when you return thanks 26:49 for that prayer you've planted a seed. 26:53 You know that the promise is in the seed. 26:56 You take an apple seed and you break that thing open 27:00 and there is a little bitty apple tree 27:01 in that seed, it's there. 27:04 So when you plant that seed, the tree is already there. 27:08 God says the promise is there when you ask for it, 27:14 when you believe, when you claim, 27:16 when you receive it, it is there. 27:20 Let me tell you another statement, 27:22 page 253, Ellen White says, 27:25 "The oak is in the acorn." 27:29 And Rutherford Platt, 27:30 who was a prize winner in science states 27:32 in his book This Green World, 27:34 "That a trunk, two leafs and roots 27:37 are already contained in the embryo of the seed 27:40 that you can see with the magnifying glass." 27:43 It's already there. The tree is there. 27:48 Book Education page 253, 27:50 "If we receive the promise we have the gift." 27:54 Receive it and you have it. 27:59 Again 258, "The gift is in the promise." 28:03 Volume 7, Testimonies page 71, 28:07 "One sentence of scripture 28:09 is of more value than 10,000 of man's ideas or arguments." 28:15 Already made that too long, 28:17 I got to preach this morning you know, 28:20 and then Christ Object Lessons page 146, 28:24 "I have done as Thou have said I present Thy promise." 28:29 You see do this with your-- 28:30 she says with a Bible in your hands. 28:32 Claim the promise and then you say to the Lord 28:36 I have done what You have asked me to do 28:41 and He will hear and He will answer. 28:44 Then she talks about Augustine's mother 28:47 and she tells about this in volume 5, 28:50 pages 322 and 323, 28:53 Augustine's mother was praying for her son 28:57 who was a reprobate, he was totally out. 29:01 And the Bible says that if we pray for that, 29:05 the God will hear and God will answer. 29:08 We pray for our children, He is going to hear us, 29:10 He will answer I believe. 29:11 He does not make them go against their will 29:13 but the Holy Spirit will work upon them. 29:17 And then she says in volume 3 pages 322 and 323, 29:21 says she quoting here what Augustine's mother did. 29:26 She laid her fingers upon the text 29:28 presenting before God His own words, 29:30 God's words, and pleaded as only a mother can 29:35 and the Lord gave her the desire of her heart. 29:40 Greatest miracle of all. 29:43 The miracle of healing. 29:47 Spiritual healing, physical healing. 29:50 Wonderful. Lasts but a short time. 29:55 Spiritual healing lasts throughout eternity 30:00 and then there are so many other texts 30:04 that we could talk about. 30:06 You know, somebody said to me the other night, 30:09 I hope you people talk more about miracles than we are, 30:13 we are talking about miracles, 30:14 we are talking about what God has done in our lives 30:18 and what God has done and what we have seen 30:20 and I am going to share with you some miracles 30:23 that I have seen with my own eyes 30:26 and I believe them, 30:27 I am not going to talk to you about theory. 30:29 Just gonna tell you about some of these things 30:33 because you see God has promised 30:35 that He will hear, ask, believe and claim, 30:39 He says I will hear you and I will answer. 30:43 James 5 says, "Is there any sick among you? 30:47 Let him call for the elders of the church, 30:49 let them pray over him, 30:51 anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord 30:54 and the prayer of faith shall save the sick." 30:58 Doesn't say, you know, it might work. 31:03 No, God says shall save the sick, 31:09 it's going to save the sick. 31:12 "And the Lord shall raise him up, 31:15 and if he have committed sins they shall be forgiven him." 31:18 Again it's God's timing. 31:21 It can be immediate and I have seen it immediate. 31:26 I picked up a man on the side of a highway one time, 31:29 I was going to preach and I prayed for that man. 31:32 When I got there some of the people 31:35 that had stopped there said this man is dead. 31:39 There were body parts everywhere 31:42 but I found out they weren't his. 31:45 They belong to the pig that he had in the car with him 31:50 and he was on his way to deliver that 31:55 but he had already cooked the pig by the way 31:57 but he was a caterer 32:01 and he was taking it to have some kind of a feast 32:06 somewhere with this thing and he went to sleep. 32:10 Hit a bridge and went off to side 32:12 was down in river bottom. 32:14 I was on my way to preach in Jefferson, Texas. 32:17 In my dress clothes, I told my wife, 32:20 I just feel like I have to go down then 32:22 I went down there 32:23 and there was a take charge guy down there 32:26 and he said get back, get back, get back, 32:27 I said, let me take a look. 32:29 No, no he is dead. 32:32 And I looked and I saw blood spurting out of an arm, 32:36 I said dead man's hearts don't beat, 32:38 that heart is still beating. 32:41 I turned to another fellow 32:42 that had a really ragged T-shirt 32:44 on probably his favorite T-shirt 32:47 but I said would you donate that 32:49 and I took it and I put a tourniquet on him 32:52 I prayed for him. 32:55 Highway patrol men came, 32:57 three days later I called the hospital 32:59 to check on the man and they said 33:02 he is walking out of here. 33:04 He is going home. 33:06 I saw a miracle take place right there. 33:12 By the way the highway patrol men said, 33:13 who put this tourniquet on and I thought, 33:15 I was looking around to blame it on somebody else. 33:18 Somebody said I did it, I said yeah I did it. 33:20 He said, well, you saved his life. 33:23 He softened up a little bit there. 33:25 He said don't ever, ever not do it. 33:30 There was another time. 33:32 We were sitting at home, a friend had dropped by, 33:34 Max Trevino and his wife Betty. 33:36 Dropped by to see us, 33:38 we hear ambulances out in front of our house. 33:40 Now we lived quite a ways back of the road 33:44 and our driveway was long enough that our son, Jim, 33:50 who is watching right now 33:52 totaled our van in that driveway, 33:54 that's how long that driveway was, 33:56 so yeah you could get the things started, 33:59 he lost control in the gravel 34:01 and I think he had been watching the Rockford file 34:05 or something like that 34:06 and he was little inspired to drive a little too rapidly 34:10 and as he went out he had a wreck, 34:12 so all of our kids except the youngest were teenagers. 34:17 And we were always concerned about 34:19 when you heard an ambulance. 34:22 And so Camille said, 34:23 go find out who that is and I said, 34:25 that is not any of our kids it's, 34:27 you know, it's right out here in front of the house, 34:29 it's just down the road little bit from our house. 34:31 She said, go find out what it is. 34:35 Now I have found out that it takes less time 34:39 to go do it then it does to resist, all right. 34:43 I said let's go Max and we got in the car, 34:45 we drove out there got out to the road, 34:47 drove down they little ways 34:49 and there was an ambulance there, 34:52 I knew the ambulance driver Jerry Holdrege, 34:54 and I said, Jerry, what's happened? 34:57 He said, it's Denny Modreo, he's had an accident. 35:03 Denny he was on his motorcycle, 35:05 he was upset about a few things. 35:08 The last time he saw the speedometer 35:11 it said 130 miles an hour. 35:14 Somebody stopped in front of him. 35:17 He ran right into the back of that car. 35:20 They were making a left turn. 35:22 He went over the car, hit on his head, 35:26 slid turning back and forth all down the road 35:30 over 100 yards down the road 35:33 before his body stopped. 35:37 And Jerry said he's gone, Jim, he is dead. 35:42 He said you need to go get his parents. 35:47 I said they are going to take him to the hospital. 35:48 Yeah, will take him, 35:50 they're going to take him on airway, 35:51 care flight's on its way. 35:52 We are going to take him to Fort Worth but he said, 35:56 don't think he is going to make it, 35:57 it looks pretty bad. 36:00 We got his parents. 36:03 Denny, the only, only child 36:08 of Muriel and Arlene Modreo. 36:13 We got them, got them in the car, 36:14 headed for the hospital, 36:17 driving somewhere between law and grace, 36:19 but hurrying pretty rapidly. 36:23 Got to the hospital. 36:25 Just as we got there, 36:27 they were coming out of emergency with Denny, 36:32 heading to the surgical suite 36:36 to do emergency surgery on him. 36:39 He had all kinds of injuries. 36:43 I mean he, you know, he called me the other night. 36:46 He called me on January the 17th, 36:49 I was sitting at home about 8 o'clock at night. 36:52 He said, you remember 36:53 where you were exactly 20 years ago tonight 36:57 and I said no. 36:59 I don't remember where I was 2 hours ago 37:02 and he said then he told me 37:07 he revived my memory about the accident. 37:10 Now, of course I had never forgotten that. 37:13 Here is what they said about him. 37:15 They have revived me in the helicopter 37:18 but I was completely dependent on life support 37:21 and has sustained a severe head injury 37:25 which broke my right eye socket 37:28 and severed the optic nerve. 37:30 I also had broken both collar bones, 37:33 many ribs, fractured several vertebrae, 37:37 broken several bones in my right hand, 37:40 my right foot and was bleeding internally 37:43 and the doctor said they did not think 37:46 I would live through the night. 37:47 Yes, that's what they told us. 37:50 So we are just holding him alive with life support. 37:54 I always have this bottle not too far from me, 37:59 same bottle and it's getting kind of low now, 38:03 it started out full but you can see. 38:06 You don't use but just a drop, 38:08 but you do it why, because God said to do it. 38:12 No power in the oil none whatsoever. 38:15 Certainly no power in the preacher. 38:18 But power in the God. 38:21 He says if you will do when I tell you to do, 38:23 I will hear your prayer and I will answer, 38:27 and let me tell you my, friend, he does. 38:31 We came into that place with his father and mother 38:34 thinking that we were actually 38:35 coming in a way to claim his body. 38:38 We saw them come out of emergency room, 38:40 they were wheeling in, 38:41 and they were pumping this hand thing 38:43 to keep him breathing 38:44 until they can get him to a machine 38:46 because now they were just, 38:47 you know, moving him on a stretcher. 38:49 In the hall we stopped him. 38:51 They said you can't stop us. 38:52 I said only a second and then I took a little bit of oil, 38:56 put it on his forehead 38:58 and prayed father you promised, 39:00 please give us Denny, please heal him. 39:05 In Denny's own words one week later, 39:09 they released him from the hospital. 39:11 Amen. 39:13 One week later. 39:15 Highway patrol came to finish out his death report. 39:18 This is a truth. 39:21 He said, we had a fatality, 39:22 they brought him here to the hospital to verify. 39:25 They said, oh, he is still alive. 39:27 He said, there is no way he is still alive. 39:31 He said, I was one of the first at the scene 39:33 and that man if he is alive, it won't be long. 39:38 I want to tell you Denny still rides motorcycle, 39:42 whole lot less speed. 39:43 Denny would want me to tell you that 39:46 that everything hasn't been all that wonderful 39:48 since then as far as his personal spiritual life. 39:52 He's had his ups and his downs 39:54 but he is still holding on to Jesus. 39:57 Still claiming the power of Jesus. 40:00 Still battling with some things in his life 40:04 as unfortunately all of us are. 40:08 But my, friend, there is no question 40:11 that God healed him. 40:12 God did not heal him 40:13 because he deserved to be healed, he did not. 40:16 God did not heal him 40:18 because the preacher deserved to have his prayer answered 40:22 because he didn't. 40:25 God healed him because He made that decision. 40:30 You see, we leave those decisions to Him, when? 40:34 Now in time or at the resurrection. 40:38 Somebody says, oh, that is a cop-out. 40:40 No, it isn't. 40:41 The woman with the issue of blood is dead and gone. 40:46 I have been over there, she is not out there. 40:49 Lazarus resurrected from the dead to die again. 40:56 And then you look at all the others, 40:59 but the ones that last forever are those 41:06 that happened at the resurrection. 41:09 That healing, and Lazarus would be in that 41:12 and Jairus' daughter would be in that 41:14 and the woman with the issue of blood 41:16 would be in that resurrection, but that is the final healing. 41:19 We make it temporary healing now, 41:22 but the final healing comes then, 41:25 and the most important healing. 41:27 The most important miracle 41:30 is what takes place in this heart. 41:34 When we trust God, then God starts change in us. 41:39 Because it is just so amazing 41:41 how He can take somebody and change them 41:44 and I can tell you conversion story after conversion story, 41:49 and the most fantastic miracles 41:51 I have ever seen happened to people 41:54 spiritually changed lives. 41:59 I don't mean taking us and getting us 42:01 to where we don't do things anymore, 42:03 but we are just as hard and cold and legalistic 42:06 as we ever were. 42:07 I'm not talking about that, 42:09 talking about conversion that changes our hearts, 42:13 writes the law of God on our hearts, 42:16 not out here but in here. 42:19 Oh, man, what a difference. 42:22 I was preaching in Arlington, Texas, 42:25 was there for 7 years, Lord bless that ministry there, 42:28 we loved it, we enjoyed it. 42:29 Came in from a trip, 42:31 Camille picked me up at the airport 42:33 and she said Jacky Carver has had an accident. 42:38 She was hit by a swing set at the school. 42:43 The swing set had been taken down a new one put up. 42:46 Some of the kids, 42:49 big kids had raised up the old swing set, 42:52 put it back together not realizing 42:55 it had to be tied in the ground. 42:57 They had it part way up and dropped it 43:02 and little Jacky happened to be running by. 43:05 Hit right at the side in base back here for skull 43:09 and they said she is in Cooks children hospital, 43:13 they were taken there by helicopter. 43:17 Not a chance. 43:19 I got to that place there were 40 or 50 of our members 43:23 in that lobby on their knees, 43:28 they weren't standing, they were ringing their hands, 43:30 they weren't standing around talking, 43:33 they weren't telling jokes, 43:34 they were on their knees praying for Jacky. 43:39 And they said, right, you can go right in, 43:41 and they took me right into that place 43:44 where they had her barely, barely alive. 43:48 I did not have this bottle of oil. 43:52 I just said to the nurse, please bring me oil, 43:55 any kind of oil and they brought me 43:59 what appeared to be Mazola or something, 44:03 a cooking oil, it's oil, it's oil. 44:08 God says oil, He didn't said 44:09 had to come from the olive tree. 44:11 This happened to have come from an olive tree 44:16 that was near the garden of Gethsemane, 44:19 doesn't make any difference. 44:21 That oil, this oil makes no difference at all. 44:26 I just happened to picked up a bottle of oil 44:31 and continued to use it, 44:33 but this is not magical oil my friend, 44:37 not at all, there is no such thing as magical oil. 44:41 Took that oil, put it on her head. 44:44 Father please save Jacky, 44:49 if it's in Your divine will, save her please Lord, 44:56 and while I was praying that nurse 45:00 let out a gasp that sent me into alarm. 45:04 Oh, she said. I said, what's wrong? 45:09 She said, look at that. 45:11 And she was watching the monitor. 45:13 She said, that monitor has been right near death. 45:16 She said, watch it. It began to spike. 45:20 She said, God has done something, 45:22 He has done something. 45:26 Jackie had a long little road, 45:29 it didn't-- she didn't walk right out of there that minute 45:32 but that's where God started it right then. 45:37 In about a month 45:41 "God giving us all things equal," 45:45 I'll be performing her wedding. 45:48 Isn't that something? 45:50 I tell you, I know God heals, I've seen Him do it. 45:54 And if you think it's just an accident, 45:57 if you think it's a great victory of medical science. 46:00 Medical science helps, no question about that. 46:04 But I remember when I was so sick, 46:06 so very sick that Don Jacobson 46:09 and a group of people came and they anointed me. 46:13 Later I told the doctor, 46:16 thanks to you and the good Lord I am still alive. 46:19 He said, you better reverse that, 46:22 you better reverse that. 46:23 Because he said, I had given up on you. 46:26 He said, thanks to the good Lord, 46:29 you are still alive. 46:30 Catholic doctor, but he said He did it. 46:34 He said, we do the treating, He does the healing. 46:38 Amen. 46:39 He's right. 46:40 They can treat us but they can't heal us, 46:43 only God can do it. 46:46 I remember one time I got a call that Cyril Miller, 46:49 our union president, had a terrible accident 46:54 and he was lying in a coma. 46:57 He was in that coma for 30 days. 47:01 Some of us wanted to anoint him by the way, 47:04 remember this, anointing is not the last rights, 47:07 it should be the first rights. 47:09 Now, I am not talking about for hangnail, 47:12 I am not talking about for a cold. 47:14 I am really not talking about for that, 47:15 I really I don't think that's what God intended. 47:18 You have a serious illness. 47:20 Either a illness that can be debilitating 47:24 or life threatening. 47:25 And if you don't seek anointing first, 47:31 then I don't think you've done the right thing. 47:34 I want it first, I want it right out, 47:37 immediate if I have an illness that is confirmed illness, 47:44 I am concerned, I want healing. 47:47 Yeah, we get the idea that's' the last rights. 47:49 I've had people call me and say, 47:51 mom was 93 and it looks likes she's just about gone. 47:56 Just wonder if you come over and anoint her. 47:59 I said, I'll come over there and hold your hand 48:01 and I'll pray with you for her, 48:04 but I am sorry, 48:07 anointing is not the last rights. 48:11 It is not. 48:12 And, folks, sometimes we get the idea that it is. 48:15 In fact, Cyril Miller 48:17 had a well- meaning brother-in-law 48:19 who I love him like a brother, 48:21 but he would not let us anoint Cyril Miller 48:25 because he said, if he wakes up-- 48:28 and he was in coma 30 days. 48:30 He says, a lot of times in comas 48:31 they know what's going on around them. 48:33 Well, now that's true. 48:35 But he said, if he wakes up and he sees you anointing him, 48:38 he'll think he's going to die. 48:40 He said, that will just send him on over the edge. 48:43 He was on a respirator, 48:47 complete life support and unconscious. 48:52 His temperature kept rising, 48:54 they call me and they say it's 106 degrees. 48:58 Things are starting to shut down. 49:01 He's been on this respirator so long, 49:03 they say that even if he recovers 49:05 he'll probably never be the same. 49:07 His daughter Jennet called me and she said, 49:09 please, come and anoint him. 49:13 She didn't say no matter what, but she just said, 49:16 please, come and anoint him. 49:18 And I got Ray Hubert 49:23 and I got Sam Green, 49:26 these men both at the union office 49:29 and we went there. 49:32 Now Sam and I are pretty big guys. 49:34 We don't throw our weight around, 49:37 but when we got there, the door was blocked. 49:41 Somebody didn't want us to go in. 49:43 And I said, I'll tell you what I'll do, 49:45 I don't want to-- 49:47 One thing you don't want in anointing is the battle. 49:50 I mean, you know, you don't want that. 49:53 And by the way, you know, sometimes we overemphasize 49:56 that we have to go often fast 49:58 and we have to get ourselves in shape to anoint. 50:00 Listen, it's not us, folks, 50:03 you ought to be ready to anoint at a drop of a bucket, 50:06 the drop of a hat, drop of anything, 50:09 you should be ready to anoint. 50:12 Because you should not-- it's not dependent upon you, 50:15 how good you are, who you think you are. 50:18 I do want somebody that believes, 50:20 I don't want somebody that does not believe. 50:23 But that's the number only prerequisite that I know 50:26 of for a Christian is that you believe. 50:29 Now the Bible says the prayer 50:31 of a righteous person availeth much. 50:34 And I want to tell you something, 50:35 if I am sick I'll just take the prayer. 50:39 I'm not going to look at the pedigree, 50:41 make sure did you ever make a mistake? 50:44 You know, I'm not going to be asking that. 50:46 I want the person to pray for me and trust and believe. 50:52 And so I said to this brother, I said, look, 50:55 I'll put the oil on my figure before I go in. 51:00 I'll put this in my pocket 51:03 and then he will not see anything 51:08 and I'll anoint him with this finger 51:10 already has the oil on it. 51:11 Okay. All right. 51:13 Go ahead. 51:14 And we went in. 51:16 We did not have a long prayer. 51:18 I don't remember what Sam and Ray said 51:22 but they had short prayers. 51:23 So we only had-- 51:24 they only let us in that room for seconds. 51:26 I am talking about the medical people. 51:28 For seconds. And we anointed. 51:34 My prayer was, "Lord, we need our leader." 51:38 He was our union president. 51:40 "Please don't take him from us now. 51:43 We need him. 51:44 This is a difficult time in history of our union, 51:48 lots of things going on, 51:50 great challenges and great evangelism. 51:52 We need him. Please restore him." 51:57 Within a few hours his temperature started to go down, 52:02 he awakened a day or so later. 52:06 Came out of the coma. 52:09 The doctor came to him, 52:10 his pulmonary specialist came to him and said, 52:14 I am worried because you've been on this 52:17 breathing machine so long 52:19 that your lungs are not going to be able 52:21 to take back over when we take you off. 52:25 And even if you heal and he had infections 52:27 that even his doctor who had dealt with infection 52:30 for injuries that he had said later, 52:33 you have divine help in overcoming those infections. 52:38 Even the doctor said that. 52:41 But his pulmonary specialist told him, 52:43 I don't think you ever going to have full capacity 52:46 even if you recover. 52:49 You're going to have difficulty breathing 52:51 the rest of your life. 52:54 He said that depressed him. 52:55 He felt so depressed because this is an active man. 53:00 And he wanted to be healthy 53:02 and he wanted to be going forward 53:05 and he did not want to have something like this. 53:12 And he said that one night shortly 53:15 after that a young doctor came in, stethoscope, 53:19 he said, he didn't identify himself, 53:22 he just came in and said, very nice looking young man. 53:27 And he took his stethoscope 53:28 and he listened to my lungs and he said, 53:34 I can hear things that other people cannot hear. 53:40 And he said, I hear the air 53:44 going to all parts of your lungs, 53:48 every part of your lung. 53:52 Now when he had come in Joyce 53:57 who is now Cyril's wife at the time, 53:59 Cyril's first wife had died 54:01 and he and Joyce were not yet married. 54:04 When she heard about the accident, 54:05 she came and she'd been by his side. 54:08 They had been friends through the years. 54:10 They were friends years ago 54:11 and then had renewed their friendship 54:13 after this wife had died. 54:15 But then they had not quite made it in a friendship 54:20 till she heard that he needed her 54:22 and then Joyce was there. 54:24 A nurse, by his side all the time. 54:28 But she had left the room 54:29 when the doctor came in as a courtesy. 54:32 But she can see through the door 54:34 and Cyril motioned her back in and he said to the doctor, 54:41 tell her what you just said, and he repeated. 54:45 I can hear things that other people cannot hear. 54:50 And I hear a healthy lung, 54:53 I hear things taking place there 54:57 that are going to ensure that you're going to be all right, 55:00 you're going to have full strength. 55:02 You know something, it was amazing. 55:07 When he left, they called the nurse standing 55:13 and said who was this doctor? 55:15 She said, there's no doctor been here. 55:18 His pulmonary doctor came in and he said, 55:20 who did you send? 55:21 He said, I haven't send anybody, 55:24 I didn't sent anybody. 55:27 And then Janet said, the way you described him 55:30 is exactly the way Ellen White describe the angel 55:33 that came to encourage her, as a fine looking young man. 55:40 And then he said, do you think it might have been an angel? 55:46 His friend Ray Hubert said this, said, 55:50 do you think it was a doctor Cyril 55:52 or do you think it was an angel? 55:55 Cyril said, I don't know. 55:57 He said, well, did he send you a bill? 56:08 Because doctors don't just drop by. 56:13 If you didn't get a bill it was an angel. 56:18 Cyril will be 80 on Sunday. Happy birth day, Cyril. 56:25 And you know something? 56:27 He's still going for the Lord 56:29 and he's never gotten a bill from that doctor. 56:34 Today, Jesus Christ wants to heal you. 56:40 It's not going to last forever 56:43 except the healing of spiritual healing, 56:45 that one's going to last for eternity. 56:47 If you only get a choice of one by one, 56:49 by the way take that one 56:50 that's going to last for eternity, 56:53 not the one that's going to last for few years here. 56:56 But He has promised life eternal to everyone 57:03 who will receive, accept and believe. 57:07 And that miracle He has promised to all 57:12 who will say, come, I want to be a part of Jesus. 57:16 Won't you do that? |
