01:01 Good evening, everyone.
01:03 I hope you're happy you're here. 01:05 About a year ago, 01:06 as you all know the economy began to meltdown 01:09 and I was worried that maybe ASI 01:11 wouldn't be quite the same this year. 01:13 But you know what a privilege 01:14 it is that God has organized it for us to be here. 01:18 And I don't know if it goes through your mind 01:20 but He has to do a lot of work 01:21 to get this many people here for the blessing 01:24 that we're about to enjoy. 01:25 I'm going to invite you to stand 01:28 to thank God for this blessing. 01:33 Heavenly Father, Lord, you're awesome. 01:36 Thank you for bringing us here together. 01:38 Thank you for working out our protection 01:41 and preparing our mind for the things 01:44 that are about to happen. 01:45 And, Father, more and more 01:46 we ask that you would help us 01:48 to feel our need because we do need you. 01:51 And we know that you've prepared for us a feast, 01:53 help us to be hungry for it this evening 01:56 and as the days follow through. 01:58 Bless the seminars. Bless all the speakers. 02:01 Bless us individually so that as we return home 02:05 we'll return home stronger than 02:07 how we came to be a blessing to a greater number of people. 02:10 Thank you for being our God and blessing 02:12 ASI this year in Jesus' name, amen. 02:16 You may be seated. 02:22 Good evening, we are excited to see 02:26 such a lovely crowd out here this evening. 02:28 Are we not, Ramon? 02:30 Yes, beautiful from up here. 02:32 It is a beautiful sight and we're also happy 02:35 that we have our 3ABN audience with us 02:38 and our Hope Channel audience with us. 02:41 That's wonderful. 02:42 Greetings to all those folks out there watching. 02:45 Absolutely. We know it's warm here 02:48 in Phoenix but it's even warmer in here 02:50 because we are with our ASI family. 02:53 It's cool in here, right? 02:56 I hope you're gonna stay in here 02:57 the entire rest of the week. 02:59 We're gonna keep it warm outside for that reason. 03:02 That's right. Now why would 03:05 we want them to stay in here? 03:07 Because we have a fantastic 03:09 lineup of speakers and presenters. 03:11 You don't want to miss any of the programs. 03:14 That's right. We do have 03:16 a lot of special plans for you during this special weekend. 03:19 And we don't want you to miss anything. 03:22 But there is one particular area 03:24 that I must mention and that's the exhibit hall. 03:27 What all are we gonna find there, Ramon? 03:29 Well, there are over 200 hundred exhibits over there 03:31 and these people have worked very, very hard 03:34 putting together what they have in display for you. 03:37 You don't want to miss what's there. 03:39 Tonight between 9:00 and 10:30 03:42 we invite you to go to exhibit hall, 03:44 the far left of this corridor when you exit this auditorium 03:48 and tomorrow and Friday, from 11:00 a.m. 03:52 until 5 o'clock in the evening. 03:55 Don't miss going into the exhibit hall. 03:59 You'll meet friends, network 04:01 and learn a lot of new techniques, 04:04 how to share Jesus in the marketplace? 04:06 That's right and isn't there also a one-day church? 04:10 One-day church and a one-day school. 04:13 You'd want to go and see that. 04:14 The one-day school, we're gonna be hearing 04:16 a little bit more about that but that something 04:19 we do wanna see. 04:20 Yes, by all means. 04:22 All right I want to see something 04:24 from this audience tonight. 04:26 I wanna know how many people 04:28 are attending for the first time. 04:30 If you are attending for the time stand up. 04:33 Let's see. Wow. Amen, amen. 04:37 Amen. How exciting. 04:42 We're so happy you're here 04:44 with our AS--to join our ASI family. 04:47 Whatever we can do to make you feel welcome 04:49 please don't hesitate to tell us what you need. 04:52 We're happy you're here. 04:53 And what's happening in the morning 04:55 for these people, Ramon? 04:56 Well, after you have a nice breakfast 04:59 you want to be right there. 05:01 Because there will be a service 05:03 and you don't want to miss what's going to happen here. 05:06 And is there a special breakfast 05:09 for these first time attendees? 05:10 Yes, the first time attendees 05:13 you will be eating with your fellow first time attendees. 05:17 Go through the line, 05:18 get your meal and follow direction. 05:21 There's a special place for you inside the cafeteria. 05:24 And I'm gonna be there, Roman is going to be there 05:26 and we want to meet you. 05:28 It's very important that you get to know us 05:31 and we want to get to know you also. 05:34 Now in your packages, 05:35 you probably got some special things. 05:38 What do you think 05:39 that we gave you this year is this first thing, 05:43 what is this, Ramon? 05:44 It says, "Fellow Workers with Him." 05:49 And the author is W.D. Frazee. 05:53 That's right. 05:54 You know he's a special man believe it or not. 05:57 Even though Elder Frazee is not alive anymore 06:00 I still listen to his sermons. 06:02 My husband downloads those sermons into my iPod 06:06 and as I am walking 06:08 I am being blessed by those sermons. 06:10 You must not miss listening to that sermon. 06:15 It will be such a blessing 06:16 and we appreciate so much 06:18 that we have this as a part of our package this year. 06:22 We've got something else. 06:25 The "Acts of the Apostles." 06:27 Its a new book, ASI book. 06:29 You probably received one when you registered today. 06:32 We wanna make sure that you get a copy. 06:34 This is another one of the classical books 06:37 that ASI has printed over the years. 06:39 And as you open the book you'll see the other books 06:42 that are available through the Pacific Press of course. 06:45 Wonderful book, reasonable price, 06:49 you need to buy one, buy a dozen, 06:50 buy a hundred and share them with your friends. 06:53 Oh, I like that word share. 06:54 That's what we're about here at ASI. 06:56 We want to share Jesus, don't we? 07:00 -Amen. -We've got a world to tell 07:02 and there are so many opportunities 07:04 and ways of witnessing. 07:05 And speaking of witnessing, 07:07 what is going to be given out on Friday night, Ramon? 07:10 You know I have purchased a lot of books, 07:13 this made simple that made simple. 07:15 Well, one of our own put together, 07:18 compiled a little booklet called, 07:20 "Witnessing Made Simple." 07:24 In this little book you will find a lot of resources, 07:28 source of material that you can use 07:31 to help you enhance your ministry. 07:33 This is a wonderful resource 07:35 and you want to keep it very handy. 07:37 You won't be receiving that until Friday evening. 07:40 Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you got it today in the packet. 07:42 That's okay, that's okay. 07:43 He is so enthusiastic and excited. 07:45 He wants you to have it right now. 07:48 But you will be blessed by this little book. 07:51 Our vice president for membership 07:52 and recruitment has been working hard on this. 07:55 And we are excited to share it with you Friday evening. 08:00 Well, we want you to be spiritually blessed. 08:03 We want you to go away knowing Jesus even more. 08:09 What's our theme this whole weekend, Ramon? 08:12 "Changed by Knowing Him." 08:16 We do want you to be changed. 08:18 We aren't here to entertain. 08:20 We're here to know more about Him. 08:22 We're here to learn new ways or even do things 08:28 that we've never done before for Him. 08:31 We want to be witnessing. 08:32 We know Jesus is coming soon. 08:35 We can't wait. 08:37 You know I believe in the Bible. 08:39 And I'm interested in the Bible. 08:42 But I believe in our Bible. 08:45 I believe in the truth that we've been given. 08:48 And tonight and throughout this weekend it's my prayer 08:51 and in fact it's our entire team's prayer 08:55 that you will be blessed abundantly. 08:57 So thank you for being here. 08:59 God bless you and we look forward to sharing 09:02 -this time with you. -Amen. 09:09 [Music] 13:18 Well, good evening, ASI. 13:20 Oh, no, come on. 13:22 Can we try that one more time. Good evening, ASI. 13:24 Good evening. 13:25 It's so good to see all of you here 13:28 for our opening night for our 2009 convention. 13:31 I wanna ask you a question. 13:33 How many of you got one of these in your packets? 13:36 "The Adventist Review." Okay. 13:39 This is something that we're very excited about. 13:42 And I have my good friend 13:44 Bill Knott here with me tonight. 13:46 Now, Bill, you have something to do 13:47 with this magazine, what is it? 13:49 Well, they call me the editor 13:50 but actually I just get to direct 13:52 the talented team of people 13:54 who help bring out good quality material every week. 13:57 Wonderful. Now many of us 13:59 at convention have grown up with the Adventist Review. 14:02 It's played a major spiritual role 14:03 on our church for a longtime. 14:06 Can you tell us a little bit more about 14:07 what this journal is meant to the church all these years? 14:10 I was thinking about this last week 14:12 because last week was the 160th anniversary 14:15 of that 8 Mile Walk James White took with the first copy 14:19 of what is today the Adventist Review. 14:21 Taking it to the printer in Middletown, 14:23 Connecticut. He said at that time 14:26 that he wanted to publish 14:28 present truth for the scattered flock. 14:31 For James and Ellen White 14:33 that was about three or four hundred persons in 1849. 14:37 Well, today the mission is remarkably the same except 14:39 that the flock is scattered to about 17 million people 14:43 in about 200 countries. 14:44 But the mission is still the same. 14:46 Now I've noticed because I like reading magazines, 14:49 I'm into design. 14:51 I've noticed that you've changed 14:52 the cover and the format a little bit. 14:54 But you've done more than that. 14:55 There's something that is changed 14:57 in between the covers. 14:58 Tell us a little bit about that. 15:00 In 2008, we went through a process literally across 15:03 the United States visiting college campuses 15:06 and congregations and church leaders. 15:08 And saying, tell us what matters 15:11 to you in this magazine. 15:12 Tell us what you want to see week by week 15:14 that will feed you, that will convince you 15:17 again that you're in the right place 15:18 as part of God's remnant people. 15:20 We heard many wonderful things. 15:22 We also heard some things we needed to fix. 15:24 We came out with a new design last October. 15:27 Again a new version of the new review 15:29 as some of you have called it but we change things 15:32 by making it much more timely. 15:34 Updating information, making sure that news of 15:36 the church was very current and relevant. 15:39 By clearly marking off sections at the magazines 15:42 so that it's easy to find your way 15:44 and find your favorite sections. 15:46 We did that with the team that's really dedicated 15:48 to listening well to the church and that's why 15:50 we're here at this convention again this year. 15:53 You know I was paging 15:54 through this Adventist Review. 15:56 And I don't know, if you haven't looked at this yet 15:58 you need to because this is the first time that 16:00 we've actually had a collaboration between 16:03 ASI and the Adventist Review. 16:05 And as I was going through you'll seethat there are 16:07 ministry features, all different types of articles. 16:12 One thing I noticed specifically was that 16:14 you have something called Kids' View. 16:16 In the magazine I noticed that there was ASI theme 16:18 which I was very happy about but I know that 16:20 you're working on trying to communicate 16:22 with some special specific groups. 16:24 Kids' View is one of those. 16:25 Tell us about Kids' View but also some of the other 16:27 groups that you're working on reaching out to. 16:30 We decided some years ago to focus on populations 16:33 in the Adventist Church that needs 16:35 special support and care. 16:37 One of those was children between 16:39 the ages of 6 and 12. 16:41 And today Kids' View our publication for 16:44 Adventist kids goes to 25 thousand students 16:48 in Adventist Elementary Schools. 16:51 Grades K through 6 and also is stapled into the magazine 16:57 every month so about 50 thousand copies 16:59 specifically targeted in a child friendly way with 17:02 the message of hope that the rest 17:04 of the magazine maintains. 17:06 We also focus on new believers. 17:08 We work with conferences across North America 17:11 to sponsor of one year subscriptions to the 17:14 Adventist Review to new believers 17:16 in every conference. 17:17 Thousands of persons who've been baptized 17:19 in the last year get their first sustained picture 17:22 of the world church they've joined by reading 17:25 this magazine every week. 17:27 We've recently launched a literacy project to 17:30 reach out to individuals who are learning about 17:32 Adventism in India. 17:34 And many, many of you in this hall 17:36 responded with contributions. 17:38 We exceeded our goal by three times because 17:41 people like you said, we wanna help people 17:43 learn to read the Bible in India. 17:45 And we found that project another one that help 17:49 communicate the gospel to a target population 17:51 that really needs support. 17:54 Now I just wanna come back to 17:55 this ASI themed Adventist Review. 17:58 I know you and your editorial 17:59 staff put this together. 18:00 Tell us a little bit about what that process was like, 18:03 putting together the specific 18:04 ASI themed Adventist Review. 18:07 Well, Danny is being modest about this but we talked 18:10 a lot with ASI officers and members of the staff. 18:14 We wanted to find out how we could get across 18:16 the story of ASI to a world church 18:19 that sometimes doesn't know the dynamic things that 18:22 happen not only at this convention but year round. 18:25 And we found that the partnership talking back 18:27 and forth sharing ideas, sharing story ideas and 18:30 program ideas helped us craft an edition that 18:34 we think will represent your story well 18:36 to the rest of the church. 18:38 Every month more than a hundred thousand people 18:40 pick up this magazine either on the web or in print 18:43 and look at it. They hand that on. 18:45 They hand that information on. 18:47 We reach a large percentage of the Adventist church 18:49 in North America through this journal and through 18:52 Adventist World literally around the world. 18:54 We're trying to tell that story because we believe 18:56 the church is a lot bigger than the building I work in. 19:00 The church is a lot bigger and much more widespread 19:03 with its message than anything 19:05 we can convey in one structure. 19:07 And so telling the ASI story is doing with this journal 19:10 it was intended to do from the beginning. 19:12 To tell the story of God's remnant people 19:15 wherever they are and wherever they go. 19:18 Well, Bill, I just wanna tell you thank you 19:20 on my behalf and on behalf of our ASI membership 19:24 we appreciate the collaboration and we hope that 19:26 that can continue in the future. 19:27 We're delighted to do that. Thank you so much. 19:31 Couple of other things that I want to share with you-- 19:34 we have been really making some strides in our 19:38 ASI website and I think that we have 19:40 that website, I'd like them to put on 19:42 the screen right now if they can. 19:45 Couple of things I just want you should 19:46 be aware of and know about. 19:48 This convention is the first year or we are 19:51 going to be not only capturing everything that 19:55 happens here at convention both the seminars, 19:57 the plenary sessions here. 20:00 We're gonna capture all that and we're gonna post it on 20:02 the internet where you can access 20:04 and download it for nothing. 20:07 And we're trying to do that in a timely manner. 20:09 We're trying to turn it around in 20:11 a 24 hour time period. 20:13 There are a lot of other things 20:15 that happen on this website. 20:16 There is a newsfeed where you can go. 20:19 We regularly give updates 20:20 about different ASI ministries. 20:21 Things that might be of interest to you. 20:23 And I want you to go visit www.asiministeries.org 20:28 and checkout all the resources 20:30 that we have there. 20:32 One other thing I also wanna promote, 20:34 we have our ASI update that goes out every two weeks. 20:37 It's an email that we send out, that talks 20:40 about different ministries, it has news 20:42 and announcements, talks about 20:44 some of the different projects and updates 20:46 on those projects as they are happening. 20:49 We have about 2,000 people that we send 20:51 this to and we found that only one-third of you 20:53 open these up when we send them to you. 20:55 So we want- please take note of those, 20:57 open those, look at them. 20:58 If you're not subscribed to that list 21:00 you can go to the website, you can plug in your email 21:03 and instantly be-- start getting news, 21:07 notes and different events that are happening for ASI. 21:11 So we would encourage you to take advantage 21:13 of the resources that we there to stay connected 21:16 with the ASI family. Thank you so much. 21:29 Good evening, ASI. 21:31 Are you excited to be here tonight? Yes. 21:34 One of my favorite parts of ASI is always 21:37 the members and action. How about you? 21:39 Tonight we have two ASI members 21:42 Darry and Ginny Campbell. 21:44 And we're excited to hear what they've been doing. 21:48 And what ASI and their involvement with ASI 21:51 has helped encouraged them to do both around the world 21:54 and also in their hometown where they're at. 21:57 So where are you from? We're Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. 22:02 Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. 22:03 Now I know you're gonna tell us some stories tonight 22:07 and experiences and providences from 22:10 a little ways away Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. 22:12 Where has God led you to be experiencing his providence 22:16 in his working in other parts of the world? 22:18 We've had a few trips to Thailand. 22:21 Okay, how has that gone? 22:25 How you've seen God working in your trips to Thailand? 22:28 Well, the one thing you can always be sure of 22:31 if God calls you to do something 22:34 He makes himself responsible for the success 22:36 of what He calls you to do. 22:38 Our part in it is to answer the call. Amen. 22:42 And so He's blessed us in many ways. 22:45 The other thing you can be sure of is that 22:47 He is going to surprise you many times. That's right. 22:50 And as He asked you to go and sow seeds 22:53 you never know what's gonna grow from those seeds. 22:57 And I'd like to share a story that has happened 23:02 in Lampang, Thailand. Please. 23:05 In Lampang when we first went there 23:08 about 7-8 years ago we found 23:11 a little church with 14 members. 23:14 They were meeting at the pastor's house 23:16 in the middle of the city. 23:18 Lampang has about 200,000 people. 23:22 Surrounding area has another half a million people. 23:25 But they were meeting in their home. 23:27 I think I have a slide here 23:29 showing where they were meeting. 23:32 It was the carport of the pastor's house. 23:36 And they would set that up 23:38 and have their church meeting here. 23:40 The children would meet out under the trees. 23:44 But as we met there we had evangelistic series. 23:50 There are about four times. 23:52 And one of the projects that we took on was to help 23:55 them to build a new church. 23:57 And so about four years ago we were able to build 24:01 a new church for the city of Lampang 24:05 and I think that church is on the screen also. 24:08 It's a beautiful church. 24:11 The congregation has grown and they have 24:18 many plans for evangelism. 24:20 One year we were there and they said, we'd like to 24:24 introduce the people to the health message and 24:27 could you help us to raise the money we want 24:30 to start making whole wheat bread 24:33 so that we can introduce 24:34 the people to healthy living. 24:38 Whole wheat bread is not a mainstay of the Thai diet. 24:43 And so we didn't know what was going to happen 24:45 with that but we came back to our chapter. 24:47 We presented the project to them and we were able 24:51 to buy some bakery equipment for them. 24:54 And we bought them a mixer. We bought them some ovens. 24:59 And they started producing whole wheat bread 25:01 for their people there and using that to witness 25:05 and also to provide labor for the ladies at the church 25:08 so they could make a living. 25:11 And that when you say our chapter that's the 25:12 Lake Union Chapter of ASI, right? 25:14 That's the Lake Union Chapter. 25:15 And so we started with that and as they were going out 25:21 and sharing that bread they shared it with a lady 25:25 who owned a radio station. 25:28 And the lady was so impressed 25:29 with the health message that she offered them 25:33 time on her radio station for a fee of course. 25:37 She wanted $300 a month and they could be 25:40 on the radio 3 or 4 hours every day. 25:44 And so that was a burden for them. 25:46 They presented it to the Thai Mission. 25:49 The Thai Mission was not able to afford it and so 25:53 one of the businessmen over there pledged to pay 25:56 half of it if the church would pay the other half. 26:00 So the church promised to pay the other half. 26:02 They weren't paying it so the pastor 26:04 was paying it out of his pocket. 26:06 When we found out about that we presented that 26:09 as a project again to the Lake Union Chapter. 26:12 And we sent funds over to help him pay to keep 26:16 the radio station on the air. 26:20 After a year on the air, with the support of ASI, 26:25 people at the TM Nation saw 26:29 the benefit of the radio station. 26:31 Last year, actually this February when we where 26:35 there Thailand Mission bought the radio station 26:39 and has relocated it to the church. 26:42 And today they have 10 new members 26:46 in that church attending that church 26:48 because of that radio broadcast. 26:50 All from whole wheat bread? All from whole wheat bread. 26:53 Amen. God surprises us. 26:55 We plant the seed and we never know 26:57 what will grow. Amen. 26:59 Now tell me a little bit about 27:01 what you are doing right here at home. 27:06 There's a lot that you could share i've been 27:08 hearing stories and tit bits from you all evening. 27:12 Just a little bit about what God is doing 27:14 in your own community through you? 27:17 I'll let Ginny share about her Bible studies. 27:21 You know after working overseas 27:22 she can't help but bring that desire and the fire 27:26 back to our people here. 27:28 Our little church in Beaver Dam 27:31 was almost snuffed down. 27:33 The years had come and gone and only 27:35 a few members were going there. 27:38 We were called to come back to Beaver Dam. 27:42 In the last two years our membership has went from 27:46 8 to 15 active members to 49 on a daily basis. Amen. 27:52 The people are so on fire that they have decided 27:55 to start a company in Fond du Lac 27:58 about 40 miles away. 27:59 So the Lord is working but He's called me to give 28:02 Bible studies and just the last few months the Lord 28:06 has given me 8 to 15 people that I can touch. 28:10 And I praise the Lord on a daily basis because 28:15 we must be his ambassadors here as well as overseas. 28:20 But we have to be willing vessels to be used by Him. 28:24 And I praise Him for the opportunity. 28:27 Amen. God is good. 28:29 And as we step out in faith 28:31 He gives us the opportunities. Amen. 28:33 Thank you, Darry and Ginny, for being willing to share 28:36 for yourselves and for sharing this members 28:39 in action with us, ASI family tonight. 28:42 Our next members in action is from 28:45 Feeding His Lambs, Lisa Quade. 28:48 She's going to share with us about this unique ministry. 28:52 What is Feeding His Lambs, Lisa? 28:55 Well, its child evangelism. 28:58 In the scope of preparing our children to stand 29:01 before kings and judges in these end times and 29:03 preparing them to have characters fit for heaven. 29:07 Okay, I think you have a number of 29:08 slides here also. 29:10 And just tell me a little bit about when 29:13 Feeding His Lambs was born 29:15 the idea of Feeding His Lambs. 29:18 Well, as a child and feeding my little lambs 29:21 I realized that there was one thing I needed 29:23 to be very particular about. 29:25 And that was giving them pure warm milk. 29:29 And of course you can translate that 29:31 into spiritual application. 29:33 For one thing I found 30 minutes 29:36 of feeding that little lamb, 29:38 taking care of them with pure warm milk and 29:40 they would follow me for life and then I could 29:44 try all my life to teach a grown stubronb sheep 29:48 to follow me. And I was almost fruitless. 29:51 Now why is it so important? 29:52 You've touched on it there but why is it so important 29:54 for us to reach out to young people 29:59 while they're just children? 30:01 Well, one thing we saw and you saw it there 30:04 the greatest returns are in reaching 30:07 children ages 5 to 13. 30:10 And those children ages 5 to 13 have 30:14 a 32% probability of accepting Christ. 30:18 Teens just 4%, adults just 6% who else knows this. 30:23 Think about Macintosh Computers. 30:26 They put the computers in the schools. 30:27 McDonalds the playground, the largest church 30:31 in the world the Catholic Church. 30:33 Barna Research showed us that evangelism's 30:36 greatest returns come from the children. Okay. 30:39 So tell us about your ministry and your 30:42 materials and how you are trying to accomplish 30:46 this task of reaching the children 30:47 while they're young. Yes. 30:49 Well, we do public evangelism 30:51 that's coordinated evangelism. 30:53 So for example when we worked 30:54 with Pastor Doug in prophecy code. 30:56 He preached on the mark of the beast. 30:58 The children learned about 30:59 the mark of the beast very same night. 31:02 We do evangelism training that's workshops, 31:05 equipping others, producing training DVDs 31:08 that help others to do this work. 31:11 We also do internet evangelism for children. 31:14 We have over five websites. 31:15 Four hundred people a day come to those websites 31:18 watching more than a hundred children's Bible 31:21 videos with our truths from the word every week. 31:26 We also do church development 31:28 and we partnered with ASI in training the church 31:32 across the country of Zambia to reach 31:34 our children more effectively. 31:36 We produce Bible videos every week. 31:39 Filming our Bible class at church. 31:41 Multitude of different things. 31:43 We're very busy you can tell. 31:44 Oh, it's exciting all for children? 31:46 Yes. All for children. 31:48 Now are any of these programs 31:50 available for others to use? 31:52 Yes, we have a children's program 31:55 called "Discoveries for Children." 31:56 Its evangelistic program and this evangelistic program 32:00 is like the new beginnings for adults or the Share Him 32:03 but it's the children's version of that program. 32:09 And what makes these programs unique 32:12 as opposed to the adult versions? 32:15 Well, there's many things you'll have to taste and see. 32:17 But one of them is really exciting to us 32:21 and we call that Digital Felts. 32:23 Digital Felts? Yes. 32:25 We have to cut them out? 32:27 Well, we do all the cutting for you on the computer 32:31 rather than the old phonograph board 32:33 we have to put the felts up. 32:34 These are digital so they happen on the screen. 32:37 You see here some images that each piece is separate, 32:41 just like the felts. 32:42 Here is the millennium. 32:44 But you build the scene, we build it for you. 32:46 And you can share the Bible lessons 32:49 with the children in a highly graphic way. 32:54 So these are graphics that can be used to teach children, 32:57 but you can manipulate them and change them 32:59 and arrange them as you wish? 33:00 Yes, that's right. And-- 33:03 I think adults would like that, 33:04 don't you think? Isn't that we need? 33:06 Well, I know the children are on the edge of their seats 33:08 and we've tried that on adults and they seem to be, too. 33:12 In fact, we have a video clip 33:15 that will show you not only the still images 33:17 but show you these digital felts in action. 33:20 Instead of the hand moving the felts across the board 33:23 you just click your mouse. 33:25 And here you see the children going to visit Jesus 33:29 so they can be blessed by Him. 33:32 Many of these digital felts have been used 33:35 in many countries already. 33:37 Canada, Hungary, Ukraine 33:38 and of course, across the United States. 33:40 There you see the stars falling, 33:42 science of the times, 33:43 the man digging for the treasure 33:46 and here he has found the treasure 33:49 and what is he going to do. 33:51 Can't you just see the children 33:53 sitting on the edge of their seats watching? 33:55 We can see the adults 33:56 sitting on the edge of their seats and watching. 33:59 Yes, and we have these built for you 34:02 or you can build your own story, 34:05 any story in the Bible, you can build with these. 34:09 Quickly share with us some testimonies 34:11 of how these have been used 34:13 and impacted children and adults and others. 34:16 Yes, well, we have seen, 34:19 as we've used these in evangelism, 34:22 we have seen children who have attended 34:27 and I think particularly of Christine and Daniel. 34:31 They were there on the edge of their seats every night. 34:34 I was giving the appeal on the subject of Babylon, 34:37 holding up the commitment card 34:40 and Daniel raised his hand. 34:41 I thought, oh, no, a distraction 34:44 not now when I'm making the appeal. 34:46 But I called on him and I listened. 34:51 Daniel said with all seriousness, 34:52 I've got to tell my father 34:55 we can't go to church on Sunday anymore. 34:57 Those are the churches of Babylon, 34:59 Jesus wants us to come out. 35:02 They were receiving the message 35:04 and taking it to heart and taking action. 35:07 Joseph was another boy. 35:09 I went to his home for a clearing visit for baptism. 35:13 He was baptized. 35:14 Oh, what a precious experience to see him 35:17 take his stand for Christ. 35:19 And then I visited his home after baptism. 35:22 I took him the book "Christ Our Savior" 35:24 which is Desire of Ages for children. 35:27 He excitedly ran to the corner, 35:29 sat down, opened it up and before I left 35:32 he read three chapters. 35:35 Talk about, excited about the word of God 35:38 and God changing their hearts. 35:43 One last experience I wanted to share with you 35:45 is the impact that it has not only 35:48 on the children and teachers 35:51 who are using our program are excited 35:53 and call us nearly every week but on the family. 35:57 Rachel and her family we're on their way 36:00 to the fireworks in Massachusetts, 36:02 4th July our meetings open that night. 36:05 But it rained so hard that the fireworks were cancelled. 36:11 She looked at her mom and dad and said, 36:13 I received a flyer about this children's program, can we go? 36:17 Her parents said, only this once. 36:19 We're 2½ hours away we will not come back every night. 36:23 So they attended the first one. 36:25 But you can tell me the rest. 36:27 They were back every night. 36:29 Their family learned the truth from the word of God. 36:34 Father at first said they went with his arms crossed 36:35 very unhappy he had to come. 36:38 But slowly Holy Spirit worked in his heart. 36:41 The mother Monica told me that children are changing at home. 36:45 I see them more helpful, more obedient, 36:47 Jesus is working in their hearts. 36:50 The father saw the change. 36:52 He decided Jesus could help him, too, 36:54 and asked how to stop smoking. 36:57 The whole family took their stand for Christ 37:00 and was baptized to a new life in Christ, 37:03 vibrant Christian family following Christ. 37:06 Because the little lambs, 37:09 their children wanted to follow Jesus 37:13 and the parents followed Him, too. 37:16 Amen. If you'd like more information 37:18 about Feeding His Lambs you can stop by booth 232 37:23 and Lisa will be happy to share with you more 37:26 about what they are doing and what you can do 37:29 and also tomorrow morning you have a seminar. Is that right? 37:32 That's right. Yeah, 10:45 in the morning 37:33 we have a seminar called "Leading Little Ones to Christ." 37:37 It can also be described as child evangelism powered. 37:40 You want some power to reach to children 37:43 within your scope of influence. 37:45 Whether it be children's story, the grandchildren, 37:48 Sabbath school or your own children in your home 37:51 or just your neighborhood children 37:52 across the street, come. 37:55 Thank you, Lisa, for sharing with us 37:57 and also for sharing with God's littlest children. 38:01 Praise the Lord. Thank you. 38:03 Our next interview, our next members in action 38:07 are from a very special organization 38:11 I know to many of us here at ASI. 38:13 And we have Alonna Smith and Chelsey Jordan 38:17 and these are really actually ASI young people. 38:24 Alonna I think sort of grew up in ASI. 38:26 How many years have you been coming to ASI, Alonna? 38:29 Yes, I sat down last week through the math 38:31 and this is my 18th convention. 38:34 Now Alonna likes math. 38:37 Her father is Stan Smith our finance vice president. 38:41 And Alonna also has a special role, 38:45 an important role in an organization called GYC. 38:51 She is the logistics vice president. 38:54 Tell us a little bit about GYC, Alonna. 38:56 Yes, well, to me GYC and ASI are closely connected 39:01 and ASI has been intricately involved 39:04 in the mentoring and growth of GYC. 39:08 And some of you are probably wondering 39:10 a little bit about GYC and what it's all about 39:12 and since I work in logistics and it's all about numbers 39:15 I'll give you a few numbers from last year 39:18 and we were in San Jose last year 39:21 and we had 25 countries represented. 39:24 And we had 3500 people registered 39:28 and almost we were over 5000 on Sabbath for church. 39:33 Amen. Praise the Lord. 39:35 GYC stands for Generation of Youth for Christ. 39:37 These were young people, mostly young people, 39:39 who were coming together to focus 39:41 on studying the word of God 39:43 and learning more about Him. 39:46 and I believe we have a video. 39:49 Right? Yes, we do. 39:50 That we're going to share now 39:52 about GYC in the coming convention. 40:10 What's the right thing to do with the life God gave me? 40:12 I'm opinion for this purpose to draw a line in the sand. 40:17 I wanna go out and the limit tell us 40:19 that purpose is to be the generation 40:21 that actually finishes the worse. 40:23 Say Lord my life is yours. 40:25 What do you want me to do? You fill it in. 40:28 I struggle a lot with my faith. 40:30 Basically I'm kind of drifted away from God. 40:34 So what happens if we have a reoccurring sin in our lives 40:37 something that we're struggling with? 40:39 I don't know how to take it to the next level. 40:41 How do I make sure that I don't get softened 40:43 to the worldly philosophies? 40:45 I just got a question and my question is-- 40:47 My question is this regarding marriage. 40:49 What prospective we should have on politics? 40:51 Dating. Music styles and also worship. 40:53 How can we separate ourselves from the world? 40:55 And how do I keep on fire after I live here. 41:01 GYC really represents a movement. 41:03 It's about young people that you can see out here. 41:06 Young people that come together 41:07 and they want something better in their life. 41:09 This upcoming generation is not just 41:13 in the Seventh-day Adventist church but in every movement. 41:15 We see that the more orthodox, 41:16 the more conservative, 41:18 they're tired of their baby boomer generation. 41:21 They're tired of the fake. They're tired of power point. 41:23 They're tired of the guitars and the spotlights-- 41:25 and you know these are all okay things. 41:28 But I think you know they're going back to the apostolic, 41:30 the real faith, the organic. 41:33 What caused the early church to start? 41:36 There is a whole new youth revival movement. 41:40 That is that kids are saying to themselves you know, 41:44 you know, I can play, I can do all the things 41:47 that young people do but in the end 41:50 that it's not gonna give me what I really want to have. 41:53 And people, young people are finding 41:56 in Christianity in an authentic experience 41:58 with Jesus Christ that there's something more 42:00 and I think God is bringing about a revival of young people 42:05 who are catching that vision 42:07 and participating in the mission 42:09 and is giving their life some serious meaning. 42:11 GYC or Generation of Youth for Christ is an event 42:14 which will teach you how to implement your talents 42:18 into witnessing and finishing the word for God. 42:21 We're supposed to take ownership of our church, 42:24 the Adventist church is more than a church, 42:26 it's a movement and it was started by young people 42:31 and I believe its gonna be finished by young people 42:33 and this is just a program where we can come together 42:36 as God's remnant church. 42:38 His youth and learn 42:41 how to spread the gospel more effectively 42:43 and bring this great controversy to a close. 42:46 The very first year I believed there were 17 buses. 42:49 This year there were 50. 42:51 So the number of buses, 42:53 there are so many people that wanna go, 42:55 outreach becomes the highlight of GYC for many people. 42:58 They come here and they're so excited 43:01 through the whole week for Saturday 43:02 so they can go on outreach. 43:04 And they do surveys. 43:05 They pass out Bibles to the cars. 43:07 They pass out literature. 43:08 They pray with people at the door. 43:10 Incredible experiences take place. 43:13 And God orchestrates divine appointments 43:15 for those young people. 43:16 I will say what really inspired me 43:18 was going door-to-door. 43:19 I was so afraid as I missed the bus, 43:21 I had no idea who I was gonna go with 43:23 and I was absolutely terrified. 43:24 Yeah, we don't necessarily look like 43:26 the Bible worker type of people. 43:27 So this is our first time doing this sort of thing. 43:30 And we had gone to this door, 43:31 and the door opened up 43:33 and a lady who is dressed in scrubs 43:35 said, yeah, what do you want? 43:36 At first it was a little bit skeptics. 43:38 As soon as we mentioned religion 43:39 and God his face completely changed. 43:42 He was-- oh, talking about God. 43:44 My son, my son just tried to commit suicide last night. 43:48 All the same time they've lost job. 43:51 Their spouses have left them. 43:53 And they've had a death in the family. 43:54 Can you guys pray for me? 43:56 He lost nine family members within eight months. 43:59 And he just continued to share 44:01 why would God allow this to happen. Why? 44:05 Right in there, it was a moment saying 44:08 we need to come and pray with you. 44:09 Can we pray with you? 44:10 And they all came together, 44:11 there was mellow music in the background 44:14 and we asked the family to come gather around. 44:16 They gathered around and they just, you know, 44:19 wide knuckle just clenched, confused, 44:22 wondering why their son had done this. 44:24 And we got down there and we prayed with them. 44:27 And we encourage them with our prayers. 44:28 But as soon as we pray 44:30 the Lord just started opening up things for us. 44:33 Yeah, we went out there not knowingly. 44:36 You know a whole of the guy-- 44:37 it's just like God can use anyone. 44:39 It's like God led you to us. 44:40 as the God did lead us, God did lead us to you, man. 44:42 Like--this is like, this is rare. 44:44 It was the coolest thing. 44:45 Right when we get off the bus man 44:46 it was the most encouraging things. 44:47 My first year it seems like God's moving. 44:50 Praise the Lord. 44:51 And GYC exist because hundreds 44:54 and thousands of countless volunteer hours 44:57 go into the organization. 44:59 Its young people that come together 45:00 that say we want to be used by God 45:03 and as a result we get meetings like this. 45:05 We get evangelism like this. 45:07 We get new outreach materials. 45:09 We just get a whole spectrum of things 45:12 because God says, yes, young people, 45:15 you know, we don't have all the right words to say 45:17 or a lot of our deficiencies shine through 45:20 but God says I can use that. 45:22 And young people pick up that and they say, what can I do? 45:25 And as a result you see things like this. 45:28 Since we've been here we've just seen, 45:30 I've seen two of our young people 45:32 giving their hearts to the Lord 45:33 and I just see a transformation 45:36 going on in their hearts and their minds. 45:38 The messages, the things that they're hearing and seeing, 45:42 they're being challenged, they're being inspired, 45:44 they're seeing true Christian life. 45:49 Well, it's so inspiring to be here 45:52 and to hear so many powerful preachers 45:54 and we have so much to choose 45:55 from that you can even decide which one to go. 45:59 They said they just could watch it on in TV. 46:01 But it's not the same. Yeah, it's not same. 46:03 Yeah, it's a lot better to be here in person. 46:04 Because you got to see everybody here and like-- 46:06 You need to do it. 46:07 You get to feel of it's energy 46:09 and it just makes it more big here. 46:11 Next year will be our best conference 46:13 we've ever had by far. And I'll tell you why. 46:16 We're gonna have the same inspirational speakers. 46:18 We're gonna have the same exciting evangelism. 46:21 We're gonna have those same things improved from years past 46:25 or we're gonna add a few things. 46:26 So we picked the unashamed, 46:28 the kind of portray the message 46:30 that God wants to use you where you're at, 46:32 at that point no matter what you're doing. 46:35 And we've actually have a few exciting projects 46:39 that we're gonna launch designed by young people, 46:42 four young people at our unashamed conference. 47:10 ASI as a young person you came 47:11 to the youth for Jesus program. 47:13 I think its 2004 and have been a Bible worker 47:17 or now you're evangelism director for GYC. 47:21 Tell us a little bit about how GYC is involved 47:25 in public evangelism. 47:27 Well, for me the first thing that impressed me about GYC 47:31 when I went the very first year 47:33 was that at the heart of GYC is evangelism. 47:36 They're putting young people on the frontlines 47:38 and on Sabbath afternoon we always have an outreach day 47:42 where this last year 50 school buses, 47:45 packed full of young people 47:46 went out door-to-door in the community. 47:48 They knocked on almost on 24,000 doors in San Jose. 47:52 Amen. Amen. 47:53 And over 1,300 people requested Bible studies 47:56 in just those couple of hours on Sabbath afternoon. 47:59 Praise God. And we're thankful for ASI because this last year 48:02 they helped to sponsor us to have young people 48:05 preach an evangelistic meeting after. 48:07 And I wanna tell you about Leonard. 48:09 Leonard was 22 years old. 48:12 Two GYC young people knocked on his door. 48:14 And they told him they would come back 48:16 and do Bible studies 48:17 and with the help of the sponsors 48:18 we had a team of young Bible workers there. 48:20 They went back to study with Leonard. 48:22 Leonard had been waiting and waiting 48:24 and he wasn't really interested at first 48:25 but he was wondering 48:26 when these people are gonna come, they said they'd come. 48:29 Aikel one of the Bible workers showed up at his door 48:32 and he was excited 'cause it was a young person 48:34 another young person excited about studying the Bible. 48:37 Leonard started studying the Bible 48:38 and I was just told that he's been attending 48:40 the camp meeting, he is very involved in the church, 48:43 very involved in the young people 48:45 and he is going to be baptized very soon. 48:48 Praise the Lord that through that evangelistic meeting 48:51 that he came to through the young people working. 48:54 Through your sponsorship 48:55 we were able to reach more people 48:57 and as young people be on the frontlines. 49:00 Thank you, Alonna and Chelsea, 49:02 for what you're doing at GYC. 49:03 And thank you, ASI, for supporting the mission 49:06 of young people who want to be taking 49:08 the gospel this Three Angels' messages 49:10 to the world in this generation. Thank you. 49:15 [Music] |
