Yes, we did. 03:28 And they are here today. 03:29 I have...can you say, amen to them. 03:32 I was talking with Alicia yesterday about 3 O'clock 03:35 and they were in El Paso, Texas. 03:38 They came from Harlingen, 03:40 which is near the southern tip of Texas 03:42 and just got here late last night 03:44 and so I met them literally three minutes ago. 03:48 So what titles do you like to share 03:51 when you're out there? 03:53 The main ones are the "Great Controversy" 03:55 and "The Desire of Ages" 03:57 and we've two different children's books 04:01 "My Friend Jesus" and "Secret Keys." 04:05 And also we like to share something about health 04:07 which is "Foods that Heal," 04:09 and those are main books, our main sellers. 04:13 And you've to drag the kids out there 04:15 to do this each day? 04:18 No, actually they sometimes drag me out to go selling. 04:21 Okay well we wanna hear from the young people 04:24 just exactly their experiences. 04:27 Alexa, tell us anything that may have happened 04:31 while you're out there selling books? 04:34 When we were selling books then...like what, kind of? 04:40 Did you have any experiences, 04:42 people saying something to you at the door or problems? 04:45 Oh yeah, because there is one lady that told us 04:49 that her husband was out of town 04:50 and she was actually lying to us. 04:54 And so what happened? 04:56 Her daughter came up and said, 04:57 daddy is not out of town. 04:59 And so what happened? 05:02 She ended up buying two books. 05:06 Nothing like guilt to motivate a buyer. 05:10 And Christian, have you had any experiences 05:13 in selling books that you wanna share with us? 05:16 Yeah, one house we went to, there's this man, 05:21 he was a smoker. 05:23 He said he loved to read 05:26 and he brought the biggest book 05:28 that we had is the "Great Controversy," 05:30 and on the way back to our car 05:32 at the end of the day 05:34 we saw him taking a smoke break, 05:36 but reading the "Great Controversy." 05:38 He was reading Great Controversy while smoking. 05:41 Well that's a step in the right direction. 05:43 And what happens when you, 05:45 when somebody says, no thanks 05:47 or they slam the door, what do you do? 05:49 We just prayed for them. Amen. 05:53 Can you say amen to that? Amen. 05:54 And the whole family is involved with this. 05:56 Actually, Albert is working full time as a teacher 06:01 and then moonlights doing computer repairs 06:04 but even Alison is involved in selling books. 06:08 Do you like to sell books? 06:10 Tell us how you sell books? 06:11 What do you say? 06:12 We raising funds to get to go convention at ASI. 06:21 You sold some books to come to ASI? 06:23 And what do you say, here is what, what's this? 06:26 What do you say to them? 06:28 Here is the "Great Controversy." 06:31 Here is the "Great Controversy." 06:34 And this looks likes a wonderful book. 06:37 It's a thick book, 06:39 it's got some great pictures in tit 06:41 and great quotes from the word of God 06:44 and just some wonderful things here. 06:47 Now, Alison, can I buy this book from you? 06:52 Okay. Okay. 06:54 Let's see what we can come up with here. 06:57 What's that? $10. 07:02 Well, let's see here. 07:07 Would $60 work? Yes. 07:10 What do you say? 07:12 Say Amen, thank you. 07:13 Amen. Amen. 07:19 I don't think I've enough for the valet later today, 07:21 so I might need a ride to the bank. 07:23 But you're just an inspiration to us 07:27 and we just want to thank you so much 07:30 for how you respond to people 07:32 who might be rude to you and you pray for them 07:36 and after you've come home, it doesn't stop there. 07:41 No, actually we continue praying for those 07:44 that we sold that day, 07:45 that the Lord will move their hearts 07:47 and they will be in heaven with us some day. 07:50 And so we also pray before we go asking God to guide us. 07:55 You know, we've met people like one lady 07:57 that we showed up to 07:59 and she's a Spanish speaking lady. 08:01 But she said I been looking 08:03 for some good literature to read. 08:05 And we knew that God had guided us to her door 08:08 and she actually bought 08:10 some literature from us. Praise God. 08:11 Can you say amen to that? 08:13 Here is a whole family involved 08:14 in literature evangelism work 08:16 and this is an inspiration to us. 08:18 Thank you very much. Thank you. 08:19 You can go. 08:21 You know people can still find money 08:24 for things of value, amen. 08:27 The people, you know, are all cutting back 08:30 in different ways and getting more gas efficient cars 08:33 but when you share with them 08:35 something of value they can find the money. 08:37 Just got an email a little while ago 08:41 at Creation Illustrated, and this lady was writing, 08:44 we're having to cut back, we're falling on tough times 08:47 and we're getting rid of all of our magazine subscriptions 08:51 expect Creation Illustrated. 08:53 Can you say amen to that? 08:54 My next guest is David Overmiller, 08:57 director of SOULS West. 08:58 David, what is SOULS West? 09:01 The SOULS West is a Seventh-day Adventist 09:04 Outreach Leadership School, 09:06 that's what SOULS stands for, little closer. 09:08 Yeah. Very good. 09:09 I need to say that again? Go ahead. Okay. 09:11 SOULS West is a Seventh-day Adventist 09:17 Outreach Leadership School, 09:19 that's what SOULS stands for. 09:21 It's a two year program 09:22 that emphasis not only a classroom education 09:25 and Adventist beliefs. 09:27 But also teaches Adventist youth to do 09:30 a variety of different forms of evangelism. Excellent. 09:33 And how long has this program been going on? 09:36 This is our ninth year coming up this September. 09:38 And how many graduates do you think you have so far? 09:41 The last eight years about a 150, 200 in that area. 09:44 Very good. 09:45 And how is this program different from other program? 09:48 Well it's a hard question. 09:49 There are a lot of programs out there. 09:50 But I'll tell you what we do, 09:52 and we as a school try to balance class time 09:56 with field time. 09:58 We put a lot of emphasis on time 10:00 that students would get in the field hands on. 10:03 They do colporteur practicums, 10:05 they do a Bible work practicum, 10:07 they preach an evangelistic series. 10:08 They work with local Churches, 10:10 they lead a Magabook programs. 10:12 Our students hopefully can do almost anything. 10:16 It sounds like the literature evangelism work 10:18 though is a very strong segment in the program. 10:21 And what inspired you to make this what seems to be 10:27 a foundational segment of the program? 10:30 Well, we believe firmly in the Spirit of Prophecy 10:33 and the Lord's councils, 10:34 amen. Amen. 10:36 And Ellen White says that the best preparation 10:39 for other types of ministerial labor 10:42 is colporteur work. 10:44 And we've tried to make that our base 10:47 so that students get the best preparation 10:50 for anytime of field of labor they go into. Fantastic. 10:53 Now what is the sequence that a student might go through? 10:56 I mean, are they sitting in classrooms 10:57 for six months or what happens? 10:59 The students first have to go through 11:02 summer colporteur program. 11:03 No student that's accepted into the SOULS program, 11:07 well no student accepted that hasn't canvased. 11:10 So they first have to complete a summer program. 11:13 After that when they come to the program 11:15 we alternate between class time 11:17 and field work but their first year, 11:19 we emphasized different types of colporteur works, 11:22 Magabooks, big books, Magabook leadership. 11:25 Then their second year is when they do their Bible work 11:27 and evangelism practicums. 11:29 They preach the evangelistic series, 11:30 do Bible work in a local church. 11:32 So am I understanding you do like a half a day of classes 11:36 and half a day of colporteuring 11:37 or is this broken into segments in the year? 11:40 It's broken into segments 11:41 where they would have say 11:42 a three week block of classes, 11:44 then they would go into the field for a couple weeks. 11:46 Back into the classroom for a couple weeks 11:49 and it alternates back and froth like that 11:50 throughout the whole year. 11:52 And you're based in Prescott, 11:53 Arizona, you're just doing this in Prescott itself 11:55 or elsewhere. 11:56 Prescott is just our home, when we're actually at home. 11:59 We spend a lot of the year in the field 12:02 on the road working 12:03 everything from like last year 12:05 we worked Albuquerque, 12:06 Las Vegas, Phoenix, Yuma, San Diego, 12:09 Los Angeles, Central California, 12:11 we worked the whole west coast. 12:13 Very good and sounds like 12:16 the students can do pretty well with this. 12:19 I mean does this help with their tuition. 12:21 Well, every student is a little different 12:24 but as a general rule students do very well. 12:27 The students has the opportunity 12:28 if he's faithful 12:30 and uses His money wisely to pay off his tuition 12:32 in the course of his two years. 12:33 Can you say amen to that, 12:34 go to college and learn 12:37 and be able to graduate debt free. 12:40 Now, roughly how many books 12:42 do you think you sold in a year? 12:45 Well, over the years, 12:46 I don't know, 12:47 you know, we work together with every conference 12:49 in the Pacific Union 12:50 and I know last year that students in SOULS 12:53 in connection with those conferences distributed 12:56 more than a million dollars in literature. 12:58 Amen, that's a lot of books. 13:00 That's a lot of books. 13:01 And, so you're involved, are there any testimonies 13:04 or graduates that have done, gone on to do other things. 13:09 Yeah, the door is really open for students right now 13:12 and they can go back to school, 13:14 they can go be a nurse or an accountant 13:17 and then go into the Church as a leader 13:20 and there has been some of that. 13:21 But our placement 13:22 in the Church is very high with, students. 13:25 A lot of them work 13:26 as Bible workers in local churches, 13:28 but many of them have gone on almost every union, 13:31 excuse me, every conference in the Pacific Union 13:34 as a literature ministry director 13:36 and those directors, 13:37 except for one in this union are all SOULS students. 13:40 Can you say amen to, there's people out there, 13:42 there's young people who are committing 13:44 their lives to sharing the word 13:46 and the printed word. 13:48 And this program is the foundation, 13:52 is that the young people need to good be 13:54 committed to literature evangelism. 13:57 Their call to canvas 13:59 and before they even start their education 14:02 they've been involved in canvassing. 14:05 Daivd, thank you so much for sharing with us, 14:07 God bless you. 14:09 So there's major programs out there 14:12 and I just have to tell you that 14:14 even in our little Church 14:15 in Meadow District, California, 14:16 about a hundred members. 14:18 We have students who have gone out and done this. 14:21 There is people we have 14:22 about seven literature of evangelistic. 14:24 This just in our youth group of 30 people, 14:27 there's seven literature evangelists. 14:29 Eight people came to youth for Jesus. 14:32 Six went to Afco, 14:33 five went to Mission College of Evangelism, 14:36 four Bible workers and went to SOULS West. 14:39 Now my next guest is Nelson Urge, 14:41 and you are a graduate of SOULS West. 14:44 That's right. 14:45 And you're based with? 14:48 Central California. 14:49 And the name of your ministry? 14:50 G.L.O.W. Which stands for? 14:52 G.L.O.W. is actually an acronym it stands 14:53 for giving light to our world, 14:55 one page at a time. 14:56 It's ministry basically 14:57 where we're getting people involved 14:58 and getting back into the habit 15:00 of caring literature with them where ever year the go. 15:02 And this has been going for how long? Twenty two months. 15:04 Less than two years, friends, 15:06 less than two years. 15:07 And so how did it get started? 15:11 Well not too long ago, 15:13 22 months ago we got this idea 15:15 of getting everybody involved in literature evangelism. 15:17 So we went to the books, Spirit of Prophecy, 15:20 and pulled some blueprints out of there. 15:21 We started finding quotes 15:22 like let every believer scatter broadcast tracks 15:26 and leaflets and books continue 15:27 in the message for this time. 15:29 So we started developing a program 15:30 around those kind of principles. 15:32 And do you have any stories, 15:33 these, than developed into tracks 15:37 and that are easy to hand out? 15:40 And do have any stories of people 15:41 who have responded to these tracks? 15:44 Totally, in fact every time one of us hands out a track, 15:47 the G.L.O.W. track on the back 15:48 there is contact information 15:49 so that people can sign up for Bible studies 15:50 or request more literature. 15:52 Not too long ago we actually, 15:54 a young woman went and placed a track on a table, 15:57 the Merced County jail Chaplain, 15:58 picked up the track, read it, 16:00 called the number on the back 16:02 at the G.L.O.W. program and said, 16:03 I want this literature for all 900 of my men in jail. 16:06 We mail out 2000 pieces of literature to them. 16:08 We also had another man email into us saying, 16:11 I want to get some more literature. 16:13 I love the state of the dead track that we got 16:15 and thanks to the person 16:16 who left it in the barbeque grill 16:18 at Orchard's hardware store for me. Amen. 16:21 So you can leave this anywhere. 16:22 I know that my wife 16:23 and I between the gas pumps there is a pillar 16:25 and a brick ledge, 16:26 we've left G.L.O.W literature there. Amen. 16:28 Right in eye level. 16:29 So now, it sounds like anybody can do this, 16:33 how about the young people. 16:34 Do you have any experiences there? 16:35 Totally, we have young kids all over Central California 16:39 and in various places handing out literature. 16:40 And basically, if you have a thumb 16:42 you can carry a piece of literature 16:43 and pass it out to somebody, 16:44 you know what I mean. 16:45 In fact not too long ago 16:47 we had our whole pathfinder club. 16:50 Three quarters of the pathfinder clubs 16:51 in Central California Conference 16:52 went out on Halloween night 16:54 and they passed out literature on spiritualism, 16:57 if there is one day 16:59 to go door to door it's Halloween. 17:01 Because everyone is expecting you already. 17:04 So they get very well in sending 17:07 this out on the Halloween. 17:09 And how do people order these. 17:12 I mean? Good question. 17:15 Well, you know, you're an individual 17:16 and you wanna pick up some literature 17:18 from the G.L.O.W. Program, 17:19 we actually have a booth right here 17:20 just come by we have information 17:21 so that you can call us and order more. 17:23 Even conferences, if you wanna order an book 17:25 we work with you on that as well. 17:27 We have a website sdaglow.org, sdaglow.org 17:34 and there people can get information 17:36 to connect with us and get literature. 17:38 We can do special to iterature 17:39 and stuff for people. 17:40 So if I wanted to buy a couple thousand of these, 17:44 how much do they cost or how do they come? 17:46 Well when you buy any book get them 17:48 at a really good rates from out presses, 17:50 specific press and stuff like that. 17:52 You know, the Lord has really been blessing 17:53 the ministry thus far. 17:55 We've actually ordered four million tracks 17:57 in the 22 months that this program has been around 17:59 and over two million 18:00 have been distributed all ready. Amen. 18:02 Now it's not just in Central California, 18:06 this is spreading elsewhere. 18:07 Where is this going? 18:09 That's right, actually since the G.L.O.W has started, 18:11 we have heard reports of people passing out literature 18:15 in Scotland, the Vatican. 18:18 We've got a handwritten Bible study request 18:20 two weeks ago from a person in El Salvador 18:23 and it's spreading across United States as well. 18:25 In fact we got a call from a Baptist pastor 18:28 who is in Michigan 18:29 and he found a spiritualism G.L.O.W track 18:31 on a McDonald's table 18:33 and he signed up for Bible studies. 18:35 Can you say amen to that. 18:36 Well, it's just inspiring to hear this. 18:39 And so what are some of the titles 18:41 that people can expect? 18:42 Well, we have a various like a whole retinue, 18:44 we have Sabbath, State of the Dead, 18:46 Second Coming, Daniel II, 18:48 Judgment, Health, Does God Care That I'm Hurting? 18:51 This is one that is my favorite, 18:53 Does God Care That I'm Hurting? 18:54 I use this, I went to fill up our tank 18:57 at a gas station, 18:59 a propane tank for our barbeque. 19:00 And I said to young man, how is your day going? 19:03 He says, not too good, 19:04 my horse died and my brother got a plane crash. 19:08 And I said, well, I'll be praying for you. 19:10 And I went in and paid 19:11 and he was outside having a cigarette 19:13 and I handed him this piece of literature that says, 19:16 does God care that I'm hurting? 19:18 And he thanked me 19:19 and you just don't know what's going to happen 19:22 and how is this piece helped. 19:23 Well it's been a blessing actually. 19:25 Many people have really enjoyed this track, 19:27 Does God Care That I'm Hurting? 19:28 Not too long ago. 19:29 In fact threw and half weeks ago 19:31 we found out about a story of a man 19:33 who got a hold of Does God Care That I'm Hurting? 19:36 He was on the verge of committing suicide 19:39 when the Bible worker in Templeton came 19:41 and found him, 19:42 handed him this track on Does God Care That I'm Hurting? 19:44 And he started crying even more when he got it. 19:46 The Bible worker said, what's the matter 19:48 and he said, you don't understand. 19:49 This is a third time 19:50 that I've gotten this exact track 19:52 in the past three days. 19:54 And now he is an attending search member 19:56 and he's brought his friends with him to Church. Amen. 19:58 Now this is something everybody can do, 20:00 and in 1939 the Church was very involved 20:04 in sending out tracks. That's right. 20:05 In fact in 1939, 20:07 Adventists were passing out 20 million tracks annually. 20:11 So it was a great evangelistic outreach. 20:14 Many people were coming into the Church. 20:16 Ms. White says that whole Churches were raise up 20:18 because of literature distribution. 20:20 And so anybody can do this 20:22 and we're told in the inspired word 20:25 that there will be a lot of conversions. 20:27 What does it say? That's right 20:28 in fact Ms White says 20:30 that soon more than a 1000 will be converted in one day. 20:34 Most of whom will trace their first convictions 20:36 back to the reading of our publications. 20:38 Well, thank you very much, Nelson. 20:39 This is an inspiration to us, 20:41 can you give a thumbs up to Nelson. 20:43 I know in the creation story day six 20:47 God created humans with a thumb 20:50 to be able to grasp literature 20:52 and hand it to somebody. 20:55 Okay, Volker Schmidt, 20:56 you're from Eastlex Machine Corporation 20:59 and you have a burden 21:00 for sharing the message through literature. 21:03 What, why do you do this? 21:05 Well, Tom, the world out there today 21:07 is really in a bad shape. 21:09 There are no answers to the problems we're facing. 21:12 Not only in America but around the world. 21:14 And I know that God has given us 21:16 a message that's fantastic 21:18 because He gives us the answers. 21:19 Why we're here, what went wrong 21:21 and what hope we have. 21:22 And so what is your program. 21:24 How do you do this? 21:25 Well, you know, let me tell you 21:27 what gets me going, Tom, 21:29 is when I read Matthew 28, the last three verses. 21:32 Jesus said, "All power is given to me 21:34 in Heaven and Earth. 21:35 I can walk with the creator of the universe, 21:37 I feel very good." 21:38 Then He says, go. 21:40 And that's been the problem 21:41 we haven't visited our friends 21:43 and neighbors, where ever we are. 21:44 And we need to do that. 21:45 And then at the end He says, 21:47 the last verse says, "I will be with you". 21:50 Jesus is going to be with me, that's what excites me, 21:53 I want to be close to Him doing His work, 21:55 helping other people. 21:57 So what do you use when you do this work? 22:00 Well, I use some different things here 22:03 and let me bring this out. 22:04 Number one is I've a little folder there we made up. 22:08 But basically what it is, 22:09 it's an evangelistic folder that we use. 22:12 All I do is I change some of the things on it like 22:15 for instance the dates 22:17 and the location where we use to hold it. 22:19 Take that out. 22:20 But then put an address on it 22:21 they can contact us at the end. 22:23 And what the folder talks about is, 22:26 is there going to be a one world government. 22:27 What about all things get normal again? 22:30 If God is so good, why is the world a mess? 22:32 These are the questions 22:33 that people want to know the answers for. 22:36 And that's very important in that thing, 22:37 I use that. 22:38 Then I'll also use this 22:41 which is final events from the Amazing Facts, 22:44 which talks about what's really going to happen 22:46 and how it is going to be? 22:47 Very, very good. 22:48 And then a little book 22:49 it's called Finding Peace Within, Steps to Christ, 22:52 and then Viable Questions & Answers, 22:53 and we could use any of the ASI books, 22:55 like the Great Controversy 22:56 and so on, instead of this book. 22:58 Now what do you say when you go up to a door, 23:00 you just kind of whatever comes to your mind 23:02 or do you have a sequence of things that you do? 23:06 Yeah, Tom, let me get before that 23:08 little bit something else. 23:09 You know, it's very important 23:10 that we have something that 23:11 we put into our daily schedule. 23:14 I put this in my weekly schedule, 23:15 Tom, otherwise I wouldn't do it. 23:17 We all have good intentions but we just carry through. 23:20 So Wednesday after work, 23:21 what I do is I do nothing else 23:23 but get my books, my literature together 23:26 and I get on my knees. 23:27 It is Matthew 28 again, Lord, you have all the power, 23:31 you want me to do this 23:32 and you're going to be with me. 23:33 And I pray that He will lead and guide me 23:35 then I go out, okay. 23:37 Very important that we pray. 23:39 Then what you do? 23:40 Is there a sequence of... 23:43 All right, when I get to the homes, 23:46 I go in and I say, good afternoon, 23:48 I'm Volker Schmidt. 23:49 I live over here in Todds Road, 23:50 I want to share something with you 23:52 that is meant a lot to me. 23:53 At that point I hand them this folder. 23:55 They're looking at all the subject 23:58 and then I go on and say, 23:59 you know, I, from the study of my, 24:01 oh man, I'm getting mixed up here. 24:05 That's the way it goes. 24:06 Anyway I hand them the folder then I say, 24:09 you know, from my study of the Bible 24:12 I've come to the conclusion 24:14 that Jesus is coming very soon, 24:16 maybe you found that too. 24:18 And do you have a Bible? 24:20 And then when they answer that question 24:21 then sometimes you can find out they have one, 24:23 they don't read it and so on, anyway get to going. 24:26 Said I would like to give you something, 24:28 these are the final events 24:29 according to what the Bible has to say, 24:31 not what I say or the Church says, anybody, 24:34 I think you'll really enjoy that. 24:35 And then along with that I would like to leave you 24:37 a little book called Finding Peace Within, 24:40 and they're Bible questions you will enjoy that. 24:43 I want you to get ready for Christ's soon coming, 24:46 He loves you very much and it's goodbye. 24:49 Very good and so is this something 24:51 you just started a couple of months ago 24:53 or how long have you been doing this? 24:54 Tom, I have a burden to get our message out 24:56 because it's so wonderful, fantastic. 24:58 And, but this moral regular program, 25:01 I've been doing for, 25:02 I don't know how many years, 25:03 five, ten years maybe so like that. 25:05 And I've even written up a program how what I'm doing 25:09 and if any of you are interested, 25:10 you can contact me by volker@eastlex.com 25:17 and I can send you an outline 25:18 and if you want I can even send you what we've done here 25:21 you can make your own folders out. 25:22 And it's a bit...I can testify it's a very concise outline, 25:25 very organized. 25:27 And Volker will layout and explain to you 25:30 just exactly what you need to do. 25:32 But first of all, set that time aside 25:34 every week to go out there. Right. 25:36 Let me mention something else that's very important. 25:38 When I'm finished, 25:40 I make a little map where I have been recorded in here. 25:44 So I know next time where to continue again. 25:46 And then I also pray 25:48 that God will bless the literature 25:50 and may the providential arrangements be made 25:52 in the home, that they will read and look at it. 25:55 And really get to know this wonderful message. 25:56 And so, do you have any testimonies, 25:58 what has been the results? 25:59 Anything happened? 26:00 Well, the other day I came, 26:02 the first house I came to, a lady came out, 26:04 I could tell you she wasn't from around here. 26:06 She brought her husband from India. 26:07 We had a little talk together how I like India here. 26:09 But, you know, the beautiful thing is 26:11 with this one it has multi languages on here. 26:14 So this worked really fantastically. 26:16 And he was very happy to get and I went on. 26:19 Then another house I came to, 26:22 the man after I said, do you have a Bible? 26:23 He said, oh listen I'm an atheist, 26:25 I said, oh you will really like this, 26:27 it's talking about what's going to happen 26:29 very soon here. 26:30 And I gave him the book 26:31 I believe "The Great Controversy" 26:32 now that's another way. 26:34 I want to bring this out, 26:35 Tom, when you go there will be people who will say no. 26:39 But you know I think I'm walking with Jesus 26:42 and I can experience what Jesus experienced 26:45 when He was here. 26:46 People said no, Jesus came from heaven 26:49 He gave everything. 26:50 Then they said no, it hurt Him, 26:51 it hurts me a little bit too. 26:53 But then you get to places where people are grant, 26:56 and I wanna mention this, the last house I came to, 26:59 the man came out of the house 27:01 and I gave him the literature and made my presentation. 27:03 And he said, you know, I'm so happy that you came. 27:07 I appreciate, he shook my hand and, 27:09 you know, that makes my day 27:10 and I know Jesus was happy when people received Him 27:13 and it brings joy to my heart too. 27:15 Now you know, I'm busy, 27:17 you're busy, we're all busy, 27:18 what if I don't feel called to this 27:20 I just let others do it. 27:22 You know, Tom, this is very interesting. 27:24 Every time I go there is this hesitation, 27:28 you really don't want to go and I been over this many, 27:31 many times and you know what I've concluded? 27:33 The devil says, you don't really want to go 27:36 and visit your friends and neighbors. 27:38 And I said Lord, I'm so thankful 27:39 that you are going to be with me, 27:41 I want your experience. 27:42 So you're encouraging people 27:44 to have the personal experience, 27:45 to look people in the eye. 27:48 Frankly, it's easier just to right a check 27:50 and let somebody else do it. 27:51 In fact there's young people in our own Church. 27:54 Hanna Hooker in Mississippi this summer, 27:56 sold 40 books in one day, isn't that good enough? 27:59 Doesn't that cover for me? 28:01 Well, I tell you for me, 28:02 I appreciate what experiences I... 28:05 when I look in people eyes like you said. 28:07 And I know they've responded, 28:10 it makes my week to have the experience 28:13 of having been with Jesus 28:15 and having giving them literature that day will, 28:17 that can lead them to eternal life 28:19 and I can see that one day in heaven. 28:21 Amen, amen. 28:22 Well, this is something that everyone can do. 28:25 We've heard from people 28:26 that are going to college to learn 28:28 how to be literature evangelists 28:30 and making that part of their education. 28:32 We've seen families raising money 28:34 for their home schooling and coming to ASI. 28:36 And here Volker is giving away free literature. 28:40 Is there anyone here, 28:41 this is, this is not a just a general, 28:44 you know, raise your hand 28:45 because the person next to you is doing it. 28:47 Do you feel called, 28:48 do you feel this is part of your Christian experience 28:50 to share literature with your friends and neighbors? 28:54 Amen, amen. 28:56 We wanna have a prayer so keep your hands high. 28:58 We wanna have a prayer for these people. 29:01 Schmidt told me that if 10% of the Adventist homes 29:05 would do this once a week, 29:06 how much literature would we get out. 29:08 40 million homes we would visit. 29:11 A year? Yes. 29:12 And I'm just visiting eight homes, 29:13 I didn't mentioned that. 29:14 Eight homes all I do a week, and that's a good quantity. 29:17 But if we would do that nationwide 10%, 29:20 40 million homes would be visited. 29:23 Everybody who raised your hands stand up, 29:24 we want to have a prayer for you right now 29:26 because you're making a commitment right now 29:28 to do this on a weekly basis. 29:31 Volker, would you pray for these people? Yes. 29:33 Our Father in heaven you see us standing here. 29:37 We've neglected visiting our friends 29:39 and neighbors but we want to do that differently. 29:41 Now we feel they need the same information, 29:44 the same hope that we have 29:45 and I pray Lord that you will bless each of us here 29:48 as we're standing before you. 29:49 We want to see you coming, 29:51 we want our neighbors to see you coming. 29:53 We want to be ready for your soon coming, Lord. 29:55 Bless each one and empower us with your spirit 29:58 and your might. 30:00 I pray in Jesus name, amen. 30:01 Amen, thank you. God bless you. 30:03 You're an inspiration to us. 30:04 And this is something anybody can do, amen. 30:07 The literature work, our presses, 30:09 when the Church was young, the presses started rolling 30:11 and that's why we're here today. 30:13 And the presses are still rolling 30:15 and we need to keep them that way. 30:16 You know, the printed word 30:17 can reach people like no other. 30:19 We've cell phones and Internet 30:21 and all the rest but the printed word 30:23 we've found with Creation 30:24 Illustrated magazine has a profound impact on people 30:28 when they glance, have a reason to pick it up 30:31 and then read the truth. 30:34 There's a line that is drawn through the ages, 30:43 On that line stands an old rugged cross. 30:52 On that cross, a battle is raging, 31:00 For the gain of man's soul or his loss. 31:08 On one side, march the forces of evil, 31:16 All the demons, and devils of hell. 31:23 On the other, the angels of glory, 31:31 and they meet on Golgotha's hill. 31:39 The earth shakes with the force of the conflict, 31:46 and the sun refuses to shine. 31:53 For there hangs God's son, in the balance, 32:00 and then through the darkness he cries. 32:08 It is finished, the battle is over. 32:15 It is finished, there'll be no more war. 32:22 It is finished, the end of the conflict, 32:30 It is finished and Jesus is Lord. 32:39 I heard the king of the ages 32:48 Had fought all the battles for me 32:56 And that victory was mine for the claiming 33:03 And now praise his name, I am free. 33:11 It is finished, the battle is over. 33:19 It is finished, there'll be no more war. 33:26 It is finished, the end of the conflict, 33:34 It is finished and Jesus is Lord. 33:41 It is finished and Jesus is Lord. 34:12 Good evening. 34:14 There are so many ministries 34:16 that are going on all over the world 34:19 and sharing Christ in the market places 34:21 now worldwide for our organization. 34:25 And so this evening we have the ASI President for Europe, 34:29 and we also have, who is Angel Duo, 34:33 and we have Radim Passer, 34:35 who is the VP, Vice President for Evangelism. 34:39 They're now gonna tell us 34:41 about how Europe is sharing Christ 34:43 in the market place. 34:47 It's nice to be here again 34:49 and a blessing to be here sharing with you 34:54 the experiences that we're having in Europe. 34:57 It's challenging, the word there. 34:59 But ASI is a growing force in Europe. 35:02 In this moment, we are present in 14 countries 35:06 and our membership is 35:08 more than 700 members already and growing. 35:12 But the main challenge is 35:14 to get all the lay people moving, 35:17 working for Jesus Christ and preaching the gospel. 35:21 And that is what we're trying to do. 35:23 And we are very happy 35:26 because we are finding a lot of support. 35:29 And it is written for instance, 35:32 with whom we are developing the program 35:35 with the new beginnings, 35:37 and working in small groups in all different countries. 35:41 In Spain particularly, 35:42 we've had a great experience the last months, 35:46 with our program. 35:48 And in the few months in October, 35:53 we are going to have reaping campaigns 35:55 all over the country. 35:57 And Pastor Robert Costa is going to lead 36:01 the main one in Barcelona City, 36:03 and 25 members of ASI are going to lead 36:07 their own campaigns in different towns 36:11 all over the country. 36:13 So, this is what we want to do all over Europe. 36:18 And we assure that we're gonna do it 36:22 with the Lord's help. 36:24 We're also very active in youth evangelism, 36:28 not only evangelism also training 36:30 and Radim will talk a little bit 36:31 about that just in a minute. 36:34 But I can proudly say that 36:37 we've been working this year 36:39 in a very important city, 36:41 that is Santiago de Compostela, 36:44 that is the second Catholic city in the world. 36:49 And we have a very small church there, 36:52 but we had our young people working, 36:54 and the result has been great. 36:57 Because all our young people are, 37:00 you know, very happy with the work 37:02 they've done there. 37:04 And we've reached the number of four baptisms at the end. 37:10 And that in that place I can tell it's something. 37:13 We also have a lot of people with Bible studies 37:15 and we praise the Lord for the work 37:19 that has been done there. 37:21 But this is also being done in England, 37:23 in other countries in Europe, 37:25 but that I will let Radim that is responsible 37:29 for evangelism in Europe to go on with that. 37:35 It is my privilege to be here with you, good evening. 37:39 First of all, I would like to thank God 37:43 I can be here because if 12 years ago 37:46 anybody told to me, or put me question 37:53 about the preaching gospel in the Europe, 37:55 I would him probably what is preaching the gospel? 38:00 But God is merciful. 38:03 Europe is of course difficult to mission field. 38:06 Maybe some of you can here 38:09 Macedonian calling like Apostle Paul 38:13 from Europe few years ago. 38:15 And I think we have to be good example 38:20 for our members, because we need to wake up. 38:24 We have good tools at the moment, 38:26 we translated DVD programs, 38:28 new beginnings in many languages. 38:31 We started to use program use for Jesus 38:35 in some countries in Europe like France, 38:38 Spain, and Great Britain, 38:39 Hungary, Czech Republic and few others. 38:42 Of course it's also very important 38:45 to have schools for training our evangelists 38:49 and the missionary workers. 38:51 It is very important, 38:52 it's nice also to see every year 38:55 more and more people, including youths in Europe 38:58 to have patience of sharing the Christ. 39:01 But of course we will need much workers for God's work. 39:07 In many countries 39:08 we're starting to work with small groups. 39:11 And that's why as Angel said, 39:13 we're preparing some reaping campaigns, 39:18 in some cities like Rome, Italy, 39:20 Barcelona, Spain, Lisbon, Portugal, 39:23 and Prague, Czech Republic. 39:26 And please pray for Europe. 39:30 Because some years, some centuries ago, 39:33 we exported Christianity to the whole world, 39:35 and now we're in quite opposite situation. 39:39 Also I would like to mention a little bit, 39:42 ASI work in Czechoslovak Union. 39:45 We have about 100 members, 39:47 every year we have convention 39:49 attending approximately 1,000 people 39:52 which is about 10% of the membership 39:56 some of the Seventh-day Adventist in our country. 39:59 And usually we supported about 20 projects every year. 40:04 What is important this projects 40:06 brought already many or nice numbers of baptisms. 40:10 Also in our country we have main projects use for Jesus 40:13 and new beginnings. 40:16 And we're preparing for 2011 in spring 40:19 some reaping campaign together with It Is Written. 40:24 So we have lot of work 40:26 and we are asking you for your prayers. Amen. 40:31 Thank you, Radim and Angel. 40:34 Best of luck. 40:39 And television as we know, 40:41 is one of the main mediums by which the world will hear 40:45 about the gospel of Jesus Christ 40:47 and here we have Ron 40:52 and Marta Davis of KBLN TV. 40:55 Would you tell us about what KBLN is and does? 40:59 Well first of all I would like to say 41:01 we're so happy to be here with our ASI family. 41:05 Just love it when we're here. 41:08 We really are and would be happy 41:09 to be tell you about KBLN 41:11 and we go by...KBLN are full power station call letters, 41:16 and for television station in Grants Pass, Oregon. 41:20 The name of our organization is 41:22 Better Life Broadcasting Network. 41:24 And we were in Dallas about three years ago, 41:30 introducing the idea 41:31 that we would be purchasing a full power, 41:34 another full power television station 41:36 in Roseburg area, and then along with that 41:40 a low power television station in Eugene. 41:43 And so we're here to tell you about 41:45 the rest of the story so far. 41:48 But before we do, 41:49 we would like to show you a short video. 42:00 Hello, Better Life family, 42:01 I'm Bart Shields, Director of His Song Chorale 42:04 and I'm honored to be associated 42:06 with the ministry of Better Life Broadcasting Network. 42:09 I'm blessed today to share with you 42:11 the mighty things God has done 42:13 and is continuing to do 42:14 through His broadcast ministry. 42:17 But first, some quick history 42:18 on how it all started some 20 plus years ago. 42:22 I remember when our founders, 42:24 Delmer & Evelyn Wagner saw the need to have clean, 42:26 wholesome and inspiring television programming 42:29 in Rogue Valley area here in Southern Oregon. 42:32 Back in 1988, 42:33 they ventured out in faith seeking 42:35 how that need could become a reality. 42:37 But in 1990 Better Life was on the air 42:39 with their first over the air broadcast station 42:42 and now 16 broadcast stations 42:44 later with a 6000 square foot facility, 42:47 we reach a potential viewing audience 42:49 of over half a million people. 42:51 Very soon we will more than double 42:53 our potential viewing audience 42:55 to over one million people with the accusation 42:57 of the Roseburg full power station 42:59 and the Eugene low power station. 43:03 By operating the Roseburg full power station, 43:05 the federal communications commission 43:07 requires that all cable 43:09 and satellite providers carry a broadcast 43:12 on their basic programming packages 43:14 in that designated market area. 43:16 This will cover the counties of Benton, 43:18 Coos, Douglas, and Lane. 43:21 Next on the horizon is the opportunity to triple 43:24 our potential viewing audience 43:25 to three million people with the accusation 43:27 of a low power digital station in the Portland area. 43:31 This station will broadcasting 43:33 to 51 conference church areas 43:34 in the counties of Washington, 43:36 Clackamas, Columbia, Multnomah, 43:39 along with Clark County in the State of Washington. 43:42 What an evangelistic tool to reach our neighbors 43:44 in the comfort of their home, 43:46 with the message of hope they so desperately need. 43:49 Catch the vision of those that have seen this ministry 43:51 flourish from the roots of its conception. 43:53 Time is short, 43:55 invest today in God's Kingdom building work 43:57 right here in Oregon. 43:59 Thank you very much 44:00 and may the Lord richly bless you. 44:13 Praise the Lord. 44:14 He has been so good to Better Life, 44:17 and actually all of Southern Oregon 44:20 and soon to be all of Oregon. 44:22 We are, we believe God has given us 44:24 the directive to go ye, and into all of Oregon 44:28 and further down into Northern California. 44:30 So we're on our way to do just that. 44:33 We've taken Him very seriously 44:35 about that directive 44:36 and He is providing the opportunities 44:38 to continue to go. 44:40 And I wanted to tell you now the rest of the story 44:45 about these two television stations. 44:49 We've been working for three years 44:51 trying to get these stations. 44:52 We had disappoints about them. 44:54 They didn't work out real well at one point in time, 44:58 as a matter of fact, 45:00 they were sold before we could raise the money. 45:04 And we started praying about those stations 45:07 and asked God to interrupt that sale 45:13 for the sake of the people up in those four counties. 45:16 Because they need to hear the message of Jesus Christ, 45:19 to intervene in our behalf. 45:21 And about eight months after that, 45:24 we got a call from the seller there. 45:27 And he said, are you still interested in the stations. 45:29 And we said, yes, 45:31 well to make a long story short they... 45:35 we started off at a $4 million price 45:37 they wanted for it. 45:38 We negotiated 2.7 then they sold it. 45:41 Then they came back 45:43 and we negotiated at $1.9 million then we... 45:47 While we were raising the funds 45:49 the seller went bankrupt, 45:51 so we started all over again 45:52 and we negotiated $975,000. 45:56 And then as a result we did buy it yesterday, 46:01 amen. Praise the Lord. 46:02 It closed yesterday for $900,000 46:05 another $75,000 savings. 46:08 And now we been praying about Portland 46:13 for a long time and so we got... 46:18 I've been talking to some people up in Portland 46:20 who have stations 46:22 and comparable stations are the one 46:23 that we're negotiated a price on, 46:27 are selling for $3 million or $3 million plus. 46:30 And so, that seemed like a lot of money to us, 46:33 but we were considering it, 46:35 and out of the blue a guy called me and said, 46:38 we've been on your website we see what you're doing. 46:40 We believe that God is behind this organization. 46:44 We've a television station in Portland 46:47 and we would like to sell it to you. 46:48 And I said, well tell me more 46:50 and he said we like to sell it to you for $750,000. 46:54 Now that's a miracle 46:56 and that in that market is incredible. 46:58 But he said well, 47:00 you know, since we won't have a broker involved, 47:03 we'll sell it to you for $700,000. 47:05 So we're on our way to raising the funds 47:08 for that station as well. 47:11 Now we don't have a booth here, 47:14 but we do have a relationship with Dr. Frank 47:18 and Rosalie Hurd, they have a booth. 47:21 It's in 332, so they know how to contact us, 47:25 they're also pledging certain amount of money 47:28 for the Ten Talents Cookbook 47:32 that they have toward Better Life. 47:34 So if you wanna contact us 47:36 then you can get a hold of them, 47:37 okay, in their booth. 47:39 Thank you very much. 47:41 Thank you Ron and Marta. |
