You are glad that you are going to be 01:18 sitting down and listening because Alder Brookes 01:20 God has called him for such a time as this to 01:23 bless our hearts in an abundant way so sit back 01:27 invite your friends and family members to enjoy 01:29 this message with you if you are at work take a 01:31 break right now, you don't want to miss what God 01:33 has install for you. Let's bow our heads. 02:08 Gracious father thank you for your goodness, 02:11 thank you for your mercy and thank you for your 02:13 grace give to us father what we are in need of, 02:17 this we ask in Jesus name we pray Amen. 02:21 And sometimes it seem himself serving to 02:23 introduce the song but I want to share with you 02:25 today a song that I believe sun raises the 02:27 beauty of Jesus to us. We are not worthy of his 02:31 grace nor his salvation but when you ask the 02:34 question that is addressed in this song. 02:36 We give glory to God that is not who we are? 02:39 But who he is, that makes a difference in 02:41 our salvation listen to the message? 03:01 When I think of how He came so far from glory 03:14 Came and dwell to among the lovely such as I 03:29 To suffer shame and such disgrace 03:36 On Mount Calvary take my place 03:45 Then I ask myself this question Who am I? 03:57 Who am I that The King would bleed and die for? 04:12 Who am I that He would pray not my will, 04:21 Thine Lord? I greet you again in the 07:42 name of Lord Jesus Christ, Amen. My pleasure to 07:46 come back and for myself and all that I represent 07:51 I would like to extend congratulations to God's 07:55 special miracle ministry 3ABN, Amen! And I see 08:01 that you love it as much as I do. It's a privilege 08:05 to be here with my wife again and to worship with 08:09 you. And to see you the fellowship to share hope, 08:18 the promises of God. The title of my simple 08:22 message is the Last Mile Home. Last year I 08:30 remember giving you an allegory this year I offer 08:36 an analogy and ask you follow and see where we 08:42 will go. When I was 14 or 15 years of age I can 08:50 remember very well, being proud to tell folk 08:55 I was a country boy. Oh! I love that life but 09:03 we were picked up each morning of the week and 09:05 carried of to city schools and so as I begin to 09:12 reach those years when socializing became 09:16 important to one. I wanted to stay in town 09:21 as long as possible and friends homes or wherever 09:25 else we went but there was one thing I had to 09:29 keep in mind and that was the last bus that went 09:35 in the direction of my house. Left the town 09:39 square at 11 p.m. Now, I couldn't wish that a way 09:46 or change it. If I'd going to get home on time 09:52 I had better keep that in mind and be there out. 09:58 Usually at that all other crowd had dwindled and 10:04 the bus was never crowded but right on 11 10:09 on the clock the driver would head up North Elm 10:14 street to Battle Ground Avenue that's a strange 10:18 name I guess to sound Battle Ground Avenue. 10:23 In the area where I lived General Nathaniel Greene 10:28 had defeated Lord Cornwallis in the 10:30 Revolutionary world. That's how my town got 10:35 to be called Greensboro. I remember it with a 10:41 great deal of affection of course. About a half 10:46 an hour after we had taken off I might be the 10:50 only passenger on that bus and yet the driver 10:54 had to go all the way out but make no mistake about 10:59 it the driver did not take me home. He took me to a 11:06 nice community called Kirkwood and where he 11:10 made a left turn I disembarked and began 11:14 the last mile and a half to where I lived. It's a 11:23 matter of fact they were only three or four 11:25 blocks of lightened houses and then darkness 11:30 that sometimes seemed palpable. The last mile 11:37 and I have home and there I was 15 at most I 11:45 graduated at 16 and I have got this lonely dark 11:51 dangerous route all to myself. Very settled 11:57 then at that hour would you even see a car on 12:01 the road. Those who wanted to be some way 12:06 out were there. And here I go, I want to tell 12:14 you something however I would come to a 12:19 spot in that road more than ones and that 12:24 would come a moment of decision if I would 12:29 take the footpath there were two forests if 12:35 I would dare and face the unknown in the 12:39 blackness of night along that footpath. I could cut 12:44 off a half mile so it became the last mile home. 12:56 As I stood there all by myself contemplating what 13:00 I should do I would always remember there was 13:06 pretty full little shack where the grass was never 13:11 caught and you never saw the lights on. I would 13:15 come by there in the day light its still gave you 13:19 chance and cause your pose to quicken. But at 13:25 night it was terrifying so l should there wondering 13:33 what should my decision be? I had been told 13:37 clearly over, and over, and over again that the 13:40 little white haired lady that lived in that pretty 13:44 full shack was a bonafide witch. 13:51 The last mile home involves spiritualism if 13:58 you catch my meaning. So, I pondered what I 14:03 should do than I would look at that longer road 14:07 it wasn't much better the forest came right up to 14:10 the edge of it no cars generally I would decide 14:17 to go through the forests by myself at night and 14:25 even when I would do that I would boost to my 14:28 courage with the much old motion that real 14:32 man are not afraid of anything. Amen! 14:40 I was tough I am ready at least that's what I 14:47 would tell myself. Once I have moved passed 14:52 that little shack there was any regular path that 14:58 went almost straight down hill and it wasn't 15:04 easy to negotiate especially when you 15:07 couldn't see very well. At the bottom of that hill 15:12 it was noisy little creek there were no lights 15:17 there. If you miss the stepping stones to the 15:21 other side you would either stand or sit in 15:26 about two feet of cold, cold water. Once you got 15:33 across the creek you had left the grimed little 15:38 shack you are safely on the other side than you 15:44 entered the Pine forest this were those tall 15:49 southern pines. The canopy way up there and 15:52 because of the niggles it caught the wind and 15:57 kept the humming sound all the time and than 16:02 this little nocturnal creatures would torment 16:06 me with that cracking of a lamb or a romantic 16:12 little call to a meet somewhere up there. 16:18 It paid that time to concentrate on objectives 16:21 and the number one objective was to get hold. 16:26 Well, I see you are following me. The number 16:30 one objective was to get home, now the bus ride 16:34 was easy and normal and peaceful no problem 16:39 just riding along but that last mile, that last 16:46 mile it wanted to think about safety and the joy 16:52 of being at home. Where you are securely 16:56 locked in by a parrot who saw to that as the 17:00 last act every night but the most important thing 17:06 was home and when you got there. And only 17:11 then your nerves would settle down. 17:16 Now, I ought to tell you that they were dog 17:19 packs in those forests. When you go back to my 17:25 childhood you going back to the great 17:27 depression and there were people who genuinely 17:31 love dogs but they couldn't afford to keep 17:33 them. Let's say that they would drive them to 17:37 the forest edge and simply turn them loose 17:41 and these dogs would get together. Big ones 17:45 and little ones and they would run through the 17:49 night and keep up a real racket. Now, I liked 17:56 it when the noise told me they were far from 18:00 where I was, and you could tell I never really 18:07 had any experience with them but we had a 18:10 neighbor by the name of the Mr. Foster who 18:13 spent a whole night in a tree. Because the dogs 18:19 settle down beneath him and so well may be you 18:26 don't get it. But I will tell you, if you got into 18:34 trouble in those forests you could yell until you 18:38 were blue in the face but nobody is going to 18:42 hear you. You could cry for help with all your 18:47 myth but nobody would respond that was the 18:54 chance you are taking in the Last Mile Home. 19:01 There used to be a spiritual that they would 19:04 saying you got to walk that lonesome valley. 19:09 You got a walk it by yourself no body else can 19:13 walk it for you out. You got to walk it by 19:18 yourself I hope I am impressing you with a 19:23 fact that the Last Mile Home is going to be the 19:29 hottest of the evening the darkest of the evening 19:35 and pertains the most dangerous of all but you 19:40 got to keep concentrate on home and keep 19:44 moving in the right direction there is a 19:48 familiar and favorite text of mine I used to write 19:51 it on every letter I sent to my precious mother. 19:56 God show wipe a way all tears from there eyes 20:00 there shall be no more death neither sorrow nor 20:03 crying. Neither shall there being anymore pain 20:07 for the former things are passed away. 20:13 And those words for her were like fruit from 20:19 the tree of life and for me they represented 20:25 comfort and courage and hope. Jesus said as 20:31 it was in the days of Noah so shall also the 20:34 days of the coming of the son of man being. 20:38 That's what Jesus said well, how was it in the 20:43 days of the Noah? Genesis chapter 6, also 20:48 sink little sentence says that the world was full 20:52 of violence. Ladies and gentlemen we are now 20:57 way out. Amen! 2nd Timothy chapter 3, this 21:02 Noah also that in the last days equivocating 21:06 you don't miss that unless you don't know 21:09 what last means or days means now last days 21:16 perilous time show God, this is what the 21:20 apostles said we are nearing being and it will 21:23 be dangerous just to be alive. I hear it on the 21:31 news almost daily people who hadn't planned to 21:36 die cording cross fires of rival gangs. A little 21:41 girl Nine years old shot in the head two weeks 21:44 ago. It's dangerous just to sit on your steps and 21:50 talk to prayer, it dangerous to be in your 21:54 bedroom. When the bullet start to fly and people 21:59 are struck with in the sanctity of their own 22:03 homes, as we near there, we have got to face 22:09 things that we had never seen before. We are 22:15 living in a world where there is no promising. 22:21 We are living in a world where our freedoms are 22:25 being threatened day by day. We are living in a 22:32 world where we better get acquainted with the 22:35 promises of God and believe him. Amen! Well, 22:39 God has said I will never leave you nor forsake 22:46 you God said that. And there are times when I 22:50 am with in the shadow of death it seems and I 22:55 look up to heaven and repeat his words to him. 22:59 I learn that from Shelly tell God what he said 23:04 already. Let him know that you believe in it and 23:09 that you live by it and then you hear the song his 23:13 eye is on the sparrow. I know he is watching me 23:19 24/7 heaven is open for business and there is a 23:23 living God on our living though there be billions 23:28 of worlds in the Cosmos, he is able to single out 23:32 the planet in rebellion and there are billions 23:35 of people down here but he knows my address. 23:39 Amen! He has counted the hair, that is what the 23:42 Bible said the Bible doesn't say the hairs on 23:45 your head are counted it says they are 23:47 numbered. Which says just was on concerned 23:50 means that God knows that this hair right here 23:53 is number 175 and the one the next to it is 178 23:58 and a couple have dropped out he has numbered 24:01 the hairs on our heads. He knows more about us 24:05 than we could possibly know about him. 24:10 This are the foresight think I always seem to be 24:14 a bit more religious on that Last Mile Home. 24:21 I know I prayed more on that last mile home and 24:27 than after emerging from the Pine Forest I 24:31 was smacked-dab in the middle hatches tobacco 24:34 plantation. A huge tobacco farm and 24:39 Mr. Hatcher was an unusual person he had 24:42 two barns, two tobacco barns and a great big 24:46 house and five crazy dogs. Amen! 24:54 Now, I got to go passed his house I remember 24:58 coming through there in day light when you 25:00 were not so terrified and those dogs would come 25:04 as those to go rip your part and they would 25:06 make a circle and they would move in and out 25:10 snapping as they did and I remember looking 25:12 and Mr. Hatchers was reading his paper just a 25:15 few yards away and he didn't event look up. 25:20 I had own a pair heavy boots and I hold that 25:23 way and kicked one of those dogs and he went 25:25 up in the air and made an announced when he 25:28 came down he and all the rest took off and I 25:32 looked back again and Mr. Hatcher was still 25:34 reading his paper. I came to the conclusion he 25:38 didn't care about me or his dogs. Now, I got 25:43 to good bye him at night, how best to do it now 25:51 if you lived in the country such as I did you 25:55 had a mixture of sand and clay that was your 25:58 soil. And whenever the rain is came heavily it 26:03 leads the clay from the sand and lift the sand in 26:07 the sand ditches on either side of the road and I 26:10 had learned a secret to get in the sand nobody 26:13 can hear yet. You can run silently, so, when I 26:18 approach Mr. Hatchers home I assumed, 26:22 I presumed that those dogs had enough scene to 26:25 sleep in the back and I would by as best I could. 26:31 As fast as could running in the sand you couldn't 26:36 hear my foot falls at all. And by the time those 26:40 dogs were away up. You see they also have the 26:43 sense of smile I read somewhere out 175 times 26:47 more sensitive they are hearing and smelling 26:51 than in a human being. But eventually whether 26:56 they are sleeping or not that I don't know they 26:59 would discover somebody was passing that 27:02 somebody by that time had passed. Running in 27:08 the sand running in the sand I wanna tell you 27:14 something when you on the Last Mile Home 27:22 and you know it fears to run silently sometimes. 27:29 Ellen White indicates that an ultra sensitive 27:32 person can't be saved because they always 27:35 thinking evil. You know their folk who look at 27:39 you and decide you don't like him or they decide 27:43 you have said something about them. You have 27:46 met him and talked about them. I had that, 27:49 had happened to be once that I remember 27:51 enlightening the poor soul by saying I really 27:55 didn't have you on my mind at all. At the time 27:59 you indicate, I want to tell you something that 28:03 we got to take seriously Bible says that dragon 28:08 Revelation 12, verse 9 tells who that is. 28:11 The dragon was rough angry with the woman 28:15 the church and went to make war not with just 28:19 everybody particularly everybody self us 28:25 because Satan doesn't love anybody as a matter 28:28 of fact Ellen White says the demons in hell 28:30 don't even like each other. But in a special 28:36 sense Satan has made war against a special 28:41 people who are they? Bible tells you the woman 28:47 what is that mean? the final group of those who 28:50 remain well, how do we know who they are 28:56 same verse they keep the commandments of 28:59 God how many all ten. If you don't keep all ten 29:05 you are not keeping any but the Bible says in 29:08 James 2:10 if you keep the whole law and the 29:10 other finding one port you give them all. So it 29:14 narrows down doesn't it? And you keep in mind 29:19 Satan is at war against those who keep the 29:24 commandments of God and here's comes our 29:27 English lesson again they are coordinating 29:30 conjunction connecting words and phrases of 29:33 equal rank and importance. So, that what comes 29:36 after and is just as important as that which 29:39 proceeds and. Now, let's read it together they 29:42 keep the commandments of God and have the 29:46 testimony of Jesus Christ what's that? 29:49 Chapter 19 in verse 10 tells you it is the gift of 29:53 prophecy and I have never seen the Lord's 29:57 servant under attack as she is the devil. Amen! 30:01 That peaceful soul that did so much made so 30:06 many sacrifices oh I got to talk about her 30:09 tomorrow but they despise her and I will tell 30:13 you why people are down on putting her up 30:16 on and many who criticized have never read 30:22 a page of her council. I have never met a soul 30:27 not one soul who was made worse by reading 30:32 and believing the spirit of prophecy. I have 30:36 talked to those who love to false and I don't and 30:40 if you want to talk after I make statement go 30:42 ahead. But I say that to them I have never met a 30:47 soul now I have met a few fanatics who took 30:49 things out of context, Amen! I have met a few 30:53 racists who took things out of context as in 30:58 volume 9 for which the gift and the Lord servant 31:03 are not responsible I tempted to give you an 31:09 illustration. When I was a boy I read statement 31:14 that I am worship on my faith. Ellen White says 31:19 blacks or colors should not seek to be equal with 31:22 white's period will that. But I remember 31:28 something that I am going to tell you tomorrow 31:29 night. And I had blessing enough to differ 31:37 judgment and then one day a wonderful minister 31:44 pulled a little book out of his draw called as 31:47 southern work and read the statement in context. 31:50 Now, listen color shouldn't seek to be 31:53 equal with whites because they are not his 31:57 example. Well, I can live that, Christ is the 32:03 model if you want to copy a live copy he is. 32:10 Amen for the gift of prophecy, Amen, Amen, 32:13 and I have thank God many of time that I didn't 32:16 jump to a conclusion because had I done that I 32:19 would have been in jeopardy my own 32:23 personality he is to understand truth and 32:25 stand on it that if I had call that what she said 32:29 I would have had a problem for my own. 32:33 What, thank God I didn't do that. Amen. 32:39 The dragon is wroth with the woman. 32:41 That's right. He has picked out the remnant. 32:44 His attack is against them. What do they do 32:48 that makes him so upset? They teach and 32:51 believe and lay them obedience to all the 32:55 commandments of God, does that make them 32:58 legalists absolutely not. Legalism is when you 33:04 think you can earn heaven by obeying the 33:06 commandments nor you can't. Ellen White says 33:10 not one whipped of what a man does. You know 33:14 as you read you find such interesting words 33:18 from the Lord servant. Not one whipped I was 33:23 reading another area she said I wouldn't give a 33:26 straw, like that what is this wonderfully it sound 33:30 like me. Not one whipped of what a man does 33:34 can earn him salvation. It's all Jesus but once 33:38 we allow him to claim us and we will to do his 33:42 will and what is his will? The Bible says his will 33:47 is to keep his commandments you are 33:50 my friends if you do whatever I command you. 33:54 And the people who love to forsake but wait a 33:56 minute their works involved in obedience. 34:00 No, no, no, obedience is a lifestyle it's a way 34:04 you live if you being a liar you stop lying when 34:07 Jesus comes in if you have been Palendriai you 34:10 stay home with your wife when Jesus comes in. 34:13 That is the lifestyle of the Christian you are not 34:16 trying to earn anything not one whipped oh what 34:21 a man does can earned him salvation. And I 34:26 believe that with whole my heart but folk it 34:30 would be wise to remember that in the Last Mile 34:35 Home people you counted on will let you down. 34:41 People in the church will stir up problems they 34:44 already got banks of people put preparing for 34:47 Atlanta, Already got there signs presented 34:52 already supporting sight on there that warning to 34:56 rare up against the church that must teach 35:00 and preach the word of God. They cannot 35:05 succeed and that's not our battle. We have a 35:10 positive message to obey out we will do well to 35:13 bare it and we need to be, we need to understand 35:17 that souls are not one I am talking as one whom 35:21 got call to do evangelism. By his grace I have 35:26 baptized thousands but not a one is brought into 35:30 the church through a personality like mine. 35:34 Every soul that is converted to the truth 35:37 is one but a Holly Ghost would you say Amen 35:40 out there. And we better keep that in mind it 35:45 surely helps in many ways when you understand 35:49 that it takes the whole of members Ellen White 35:52 says one soul is worth more than the whole 35:54 world. Try to digest that and you will not 35:58 baptized three or just to get a big number. 36:02 That's not my business my business is to tell the 36:05 truth. The Holy Ghost is working where the 36:08 truth is told and the Holy ghost will whisper to a 36:12 man or a woman which is the way will eve in it. 36:18 Amen! There would be attacks of one nature 36:22 and another against God's people and some that 36:26 you really counted on will seem that let you 36:29 down. The Bible talks about accuser of the 36:33 brotherhood, accuser of the brotherhood he 36:37 loves to stir up trouble and accuse you even the 36:41 things you are guilty of some of the things we 36:44 are guilty of. When God buried Moses up there 36:49 that devil came, it forgive my imagination 36:53 but I have seen the devil coming when he knew 36:56 Christ was coming at the Moses. He went up 36:59 there and planted his foot right on the grave 37:02 of Moses and declared he had a right to him. 37:06 And he began to tell God all the faults of Moses 37:09 he was impatient he would let him go into the 37:11 promise land because he disobeyed John and the 37:16 Bible simply says when he did that Christ did 37:20 not bring against Moses railing acquisition but 37:24 he simply said the Lord rebuke the Satan. 37:27 That's right! In other words this man and all 37:29 these out here today who are truly converted to 37:33 Jesus you have made a decision he has claimed 37:38 you as his own and when the devil accuses you 37:42 and you might have been guilty. Because the 37:45 devil knows he can't lie to God. He accuses you 37:51 and the Lord says to him I rebuke you Satan. 37:55 What you mean by that? I am taking away his 37:58 unrighteousness and I am covering him with my 38:01 light. Now if you can accuse me go ahead. 38:08 The Lord rebuking I imagine further the Satan 38:11 saying but in order reedmen you got to come 38:14 and you have down that yet. So, you have not 38:18 taken him out of my power and out of my 38:20 prison house that I couldn't imagine the Lord 38:23 saying charge him to me. And when in the 38:29 fullness of time I come down to this earth if I 38:32 don't pay up you can have him back. 38:35 Yeh! What your Satan, Moses, and Elijah were 38:37 talking about on Mount of Transfiguration. 38:40 The Bible says they were talking about his 38:42 disease which should be accomplished shortly at 38:45 Jerusalem, that's what they were talking about. 38:48 They had a wasted interest in Christ going to the 38:51 cross. Otherwise Enoch, Moses and Elijah 38:57 would have to come back down here. Oh! Bless 39:02 God for the gospel, aren't you glad for gospel. 39:06 Well, finally you get passed Hatchers place and 39:15 there was one more forest I had to get 39:17 through a small one. That equally as terrifying it 39:22 seemed to trees almost enveloped here. 39:26 Now, I want to follow what I am about to say, 39:30 my older brother had recently brought a dog to 39:37 our place that was a strange dog he had 39:45 nothing he would brought in as a guest. 39:50 My father had tenderly got for old dome animals 39:54 he would tell me son a horse can ask for what 39:57 he needs. You must anticipate his need and 40:00 take care of it that was my dads philosophy so 40:04 it is dog he has brought in and what's pretty I 40:07 think it was a child somebody say they all 40:10 mean, that dog was so mean that when I feed 40:14 him I had to put the food in his tray and get 40:17 a long pole and push it up the way it can reach 40:20 it. He had no understanding at all 40:27 well on this night he did home that's my last 40:30 big obstacle that dog knew my voice. That dog 40:36 knew the smell of me didn't bother him at all 40:39 he would raise hand. And he had such a big 40:44 mouth when he started raise his hand dogs 40:46 allover the neighborhood joined him. And they 40:51 all began to carry on and I can't see him because 40:55 its dark and I began the wonder I have nothing 40:58 with which to depend on myself and that two 41:02 dogs that knew me along side of him they 41:06 were led by him and they were barking at me. 41:14 Oh! It was terrible that devil bog would come 41:20 tarring at me that some how I could shout at him 41:24 and intimidating. And he would back down a 41:28 little and grudgingly give me some space then 41:32 I would be able to make it home. Now, who 41:35 would him I have thought that a dog with now 41:39 member, member of the family. I am talking 41:44 about this one day in the family. Ellen White 41:49 says that many will be disaffected and become 41:53 bitterest enemies' folk we taught you in the 41:57 Sabbath school lesson God forbid. Even those 42:02 who preach sometimes God forbid, one great 42:09 television evangelist poured into a whole block 42:11 of people they said they all former seventh-day 42:14 Adventist I have baptized them. He said 42:16 now ask them why did you live that wonderful 42:20 church with such high standards and they said 42:23 because there is no love in that church. 42:27 Somebody heard it came into me and I asked 42:29 one question where in the Bible doesn't says 42:33 somebody has to love you. Oh! It says you have 42:37 to love somebody including your enemy but 42:42 it is not written that somebody has to love you. 42:49 So, what I want account all of that too is 42:53 deception say that word with me. Deception, 42:58 that's got to be Satan's prime tool the last mile 43:03 home, he is going in a lie and expect you to 43:07 believe it deception is going to cause many to 43:11 become like shifting sand.
