01:01 I've titled this talk, "The Sand Eaters"
01:04 now, I wonder, can anybody guess what that's about?
01:07 The sand eaters... think about it a minute.
01:09 No takers, huh, how about the children of Israel
01:16 led out of Egypt, you remember that story,
01:19 God brings them out of Egypt, they're baptized in the Red Sea
01:23 and so there's an interesting analogy
01:26 led out of sin... justification,
01:30 they're baptized, and then, now it's time for... what?
01:34 what's the second half? Sanctification...
01:37 You can't have justification alone,
01:40 you've got to have them both,
01:42 justification and sanctification.
01:44 Now, it's God's turn to lead them through the wilderness
01:47 through the trials, the tribulations, the problems,
01:50 to build their character, to point them to God,
01:52 to enable Him to say,
01:55 "Look at me, I can take care of all of your situations"
01:58 But, unfortunately, you know, they got to one area
02:03 and said, "There's no water"
02:05 and they got to another area and said, "There's no food"
02:07 and then there was no water again
02:09 and then it was on and on and on and on...
02:11 and God finally said,
02:13 "These ten times, basically,
02:15 you've griped and complained to me"
02:17 God was keeping track, these ten times...
02:19 and you can go through and you can map out...
02:22 and find those ten times
02:24 when the children of Israel complained,
02:25 but then they get up to the borders of the "Promise Land"
02:30 and that's found in Numbers chapter 13,
02:33 if you turn there with me,
02:34 and it's just about time for me to stop today, I think,
02:43 that... 48 hours of being up is...
02:44 I almost forgot where Numbers was...
02:49 but Numbers chapter 13 and chapter 14,
02:53 the children of Israel are there at the borders
02:57 of the promised land, now it's a land God said
02:59 is flowing with milk and honey, so they send in spies,
03:03 spies go in, check out the land
03:05 40 days... they come back and I kind of envision as the
03:08 as a couple of them are coming up over the rise,
03:10 the kids say, "Look, look Mama,
03:12 look, look what they've got, look what they've got,"
03:14 and here two guys have got a big pole between them
03:17 and one cluster of grapes, one cluster of grapes...
03:20 you ever thought about that, how big were these grapes?
03:23 I mean, these are monstrous,
03:25 that's kind of like... maybe in heaven we'll say,
03:27 "Hey, come on over to my house, we'll split a grape"
03:29 you know, huge... huge...
03:32 everything God had said about the land was true,
03:35 it was truly a land flowing with milk and honey.
03:39 But then, oh, oh, here's a problem,
03:42 verse 28 of chapter 13,
03:45 these words should never be in the Bible,
03:47 spoken by humans, nevertheless,
03:49 "The people be strong that dwell in the land,
03:51 and the cities are walled, and very great:
03:54 moreover, we saw the children of Anak there"
03:56 and they go on and on and on down to verse 31
03:59 "we be not able to go against the people;
04:01 for they're stronger than we. "
04:04 verse 33, "And we saw the giants,
04:06 the sons of Anak, which come of the giants:
04:09 we were in our own sight as grasshoppers... "
04:11 Oh, man! how sad...
04:15 "we were in our own sight as grasshoppers"
04:18 you see, they had an "eye problem"
04:20 they were looking at themselves
04:22 when they should have been looking at their God,
04:25 they should have been looking at the bigness of God
04:28 how big God was, and they complained so badly...
04:31 saying, "we wish we could go back to bondage"
04:34 we want to go back to sin,
04:36 we don't want to be out here under your protection God,
04:38 you can't protect us because these guys are giants
04:40 apparently, they were huge,
04:42 apparently... found a bedstead of one
04:44 over 13 feet long was the bed,
04:47 that's a pretty good-size guy you know, yeah, 13 feet...
04:51 he was as big as your ceiling, almost, you know,
04:54 but there's a narrative... turn forward with me
04:57 God finally says,
04:58 actually let me just finish up that one thought,
05:00 God finally says, "Go ahead,
05:02 wander around the desert for the next forty years
05:04 eat sand, right, if that's what you want,
05:07 go ahead, eat sand, your wish is fine. "
05:10 And then we find over in Joshua chapter 2,
05:14 the children of Israel again... the next generation,
05:17 they get up to the borders of the Promise Land again
05:20 and this time they send in spies and they go to Rahab's house
05:24 Rahab the prostitute,
05:25 I never could figure out why they picked a prostitute
05:28 except that... well, she's there
05:31 when all the men are going in and out all the time
05:33 a couple more guys aren't going to matter, right?
05:35 So they're undetectable,
05:37 now these two guys are ready to go to bed
05:39 they're on the top of the building,
05:41 and Rahab comes up and says, "Wait, wait, wait, wait,
05:44 wait a minute... before you go to sleep,
05:45 let me share something with you,"
05:46 and look what she shares in chapter 2 and verse 9,
05:49 and she said unto the men,
05:51 "I know that the Lord hath given you the land"
05:54 who is this woman? A pagan prostitute.
05:58 "I know that the Lord has given you the land,
06:01 your terror is fallen on us
06:04 and all the inhabitants of the land faint, because of you. "
06:09 Down to verse 11,
06:11 "and as soon as we had heard these things... " what things?
06:13 the waters of the Red Sea drying up,
06:16 the kings being killed, when did that happen?
06:19 Forty years earlier, right?
06:20 "When we heard these things, our hearts did melt"
06:24 now the Hebrew there for melt is liquefied,
06:29 liquefied... these giants...
06:32 because of what they saw of God, their hearts were liquid.
06:36 How many of you... a 13-foot tall giant,
06:39 how many of you think he could fight
06:40 with a heart of liquid? Impossible right,
06:43 everybody agrees to that? it's impossible,
06:46 no matter how big the guy is if he's got a liquid heart
06:49 he can't fight,
06:51 God had already gone into the land and taken care of it,
06:54 if you don't believe me, go back here
06:56 just a verse or so here to chapter 1 verse 3,
07:04 chapter 1 of Joshua verse 3,
07:07 "Everywhere the soul of your feet shall tread... "
07:12 English Majors... what tense is that?
07:15 future tense, right? everywhere you're going to walk
07:22 future... in the future...
07:24 and then God says, "I have given you... "
07:28 what tense is that? Past tense...
07:31 look everybody... I've already been in the land,
07:34 I've already scared them half to death,
07:37 I've melted their hearts... you got the land.
07:40 All you have to do is go in and possess it.
07:44 That's it, in another place,
07:48 and please forgive me
07:50 today I forgot exactly where it is, in my thinking...
07:53 but God sits on the circle of the earth,
07:57 and everybody to him are like grasshoppers.
08:00 So, if everybody on planet earth
08:05 is like grasshoppers to God,
08:07 where does that put all the giants?
08:08 I would submit to you
08:11 that if you are on the shoulders of God,
08:13 there are no giants in the land
08:16 whatever supposed
08:19 "giant situation"
08:23 is occurring in your life... God is bigger,
08:26 whatever is happening in your life,
08:29 whatever is scaring you to death,
08:31 turn your focus and your eyes upon the bigness of God.
08:36 You don't have to be a sand eater
08:40 but it seems like we have been stuck in this rut
08:43 over and over and over,
08:45 it seems like it's a perpetual scenario
08:48 of God's people ad nauseam there is no doubt,
08:53 we know, around 1844, in that timeframe,
08:56 God was ready to come,
08:58 He was looking for His people to go into the Canaan land,
09:01 and then, in 1901,
09:05 He was ready to pour out the latter rain
09:09 looking for His people to go into the Canaan land,
09:12 and here we are, 104 years later,
09:15 and we are still here,
09:17 now, oh some that don't totally believe the Bible,
09:21 they go, "Oh, oh, you can't base anything on that,
09:25 you can't believe that, God comes in His own time
09:28 and His own time may be far into the future... "
09:32 well, it seems like I remember, God also predicts...
09:34 those who say that about the end days,
09:37 but you know around 1844, the Lord had a special Movement
09:46 in Daniel, you find that special Movement,
09:49 the time of the end, the Day of Atonement,
09:52 the day of judgment, but God's people got hung up
09:57 in the same way, as a matter of fact,
09:59 since you're not in the United States,
10:01 but I have a kind of a favor, I don't watch a lot
10:04 but a favorite football team, that's the San Francisco 49ers
10:07 Amen...
10:09 You're not just saying "Amen" Brother,
10:11 but the San Francisco 49ers... why, okay, you know,
10:17 how did they get their name?
10:18 From the Gold Rush...
10:20 From the Gold Rush, the 49er Gold Rush,
10:23 and everybody was rushing for Gold
10:26 and I would submit to you, that's what happened
10:28 to the Seventh-day Adventists in that area,
10:29 they began going after their own gold,
10:31 going after the Gold Rush too, I don't think...
10:34 I don't think it's happenstance in the book of Revelation,
10:38 the final church...
10:40 the final one of earth's history
10:42 happens to be Laodicea and the counsel to Laodicea is...
10:46 God says, "Buy of me, gold tried in the fire"
10:50 buy of God's gold,
10:53 don't look for the gold in the world,
10:54 don't look for the gold here, buy of God's gold,
10:58 but boy! the church just had problem after problem
11:01 and was just so hung up with
11:03 going after wealth and everything else,
11:06 and you know that... this young Movement,
11:09 the Seventh-day Adventist Church...
11:10 it was experiencing growing pains
11:12 we were discovering the situation
11:14 on the state of the dead, and by the way,
11:16 I've just got to share with you quickly,
11:20 I shared with you in another meeting
11:22 about the lady that was raised from the dead,
11:25 unfortunately, when we got home, all of a sudden I said, "Ah!"
11:31 you know we're flying so fast, we're filming so much,
11:32 and I thought, "I never interviewed that woman
11:34 and asked her what it was like to be dead...
11:37 coming back from the dead,"
11:38 now, we know as good Seventh-day Adventists
11:41 and from the Bible, she wouldn't have had anything to say
11:43 but it would have been fun to have it on camera, wouldn't it?
11:45 Sometimes you just don't think quite quick enough,
11:50 but the church... the church was struggling with
11:53 some of these things and God was leading them,
11:56 it had growing pains, you think about this,
11:59 around that time in 1881, around that timeframe,
12:03 Wyatt Earp earth had the gun fight at the "O.K. Corral,"
12:06 some of these different things were going on
12:09 it's interesting, sometimes,
12:12 when you begin putting all this together,
12:13 what was happening in the history of the world,
12:17 leading up to 1888, we hear a lot about 1888,
12:22 well, 1888 was the time period
12:24 that was in tremendous flux in the church
12:27 we had Jones and Waggoner
12:29 and they came up with the message of
12:31 "righteousness by faith"
12:32 the very message I shared with you this morning...
12:35 on that very message, but that target of
12:38 justification and sanctification and the church leadership
12:42 they were arguing back and forth about it,
12:44 some of the members said,
12:45 "We just got to have justification, that's it"
12:48 and other's said, "No, no, it's the whole package,
12:50 justification... sanctification... "
12:52 and G. I. Butler... Butler was coming up in the church
12:58 as the General Conference President...
12:59 well, he was a strong guy
13:01 and you had Uriah Smith,
13:03 Uriah Smith was writing on Revelation
13:05 and he was writing for the Review and Herald,
13:07 and then Jones and Waggoner, of all things...
13:09 they come up and say, "Oh the law in Galatians
13:12 is different... it's different,"
13:13 and they were now controlling the Signs of the Times magazine
13:17 which was in California,
13:18 and you got Uriah Smith out in the East Coast,
13:21 and so they lobbed salvos at one another
13:24 these theological salvos,
13:26 from both sides, across the Country,
13:28 and Ellen White writes to them, and says,
13:30 "Quit it, stop airing our laundry before the public
13:33 this is not what God wants, God wants us to save souls
13:36 not all this in-fighting," it got so bad,
13:39 in one of the Ministerial Meetings,
13:41 they were also talking about the Huns and the Alemannias
13:44 they'd say... they'd meet him in the hall
13:46 and say, "Are you a Hun or an Alamannia?"
13:47 The ministers were focusing on all this stuff,
13:50 back and forth and back and forth,
13:53 you've got J. Harvey Kellogg of Kellogg's Cornflakes,
13:57 Kellogg... man! he had a huge institution
14:00 growing bigger and bigger,
14:01 Ellen White said, "You shouldn't grow it bigger,
14:03 you should split it up" he didn't want to
14:05 he wanted to get control of the church,
14:07 he had more health workers
14:08 than the entire denomination had pastors,
14:11 and he figured he could gain control,
14:12 so you had a situation where the three most powerful people
14:16 in the church, you've got the General Conference President,
14:19 and J. Harvey Kellogg, and Ellen White.
14:22 And what did they do about this time,
14:24 they sent Ellen White to the other side of the planet,
14:27 right here, "Get rid of the prophet,
14:30 we don't want her anymore, get rid of the prophet
14:32 so we can hassle and we can argue and we can fight... "
14:35 well, it's interesting that Ellen White said
14:43 that God did not want her to come here,
14:45 but, think about this, if you had been Ellen White,
14:50 you're the prophet for planet earth,
14:53 and the church sent you someplace else,
14:55 and you know God doesn't want you to go
14:57 but God will go ahead and let you wander in the desert,
15:00 what would you say?
15:02 I think I'd be tempted to say,
15:06 "Don't you know who I am? I'm God's prophet,
15:09 I'm the voice of God here on planet earth,"
15:12 but she didn't say that, why?
15:15 If we would humble ourselves, be kind and courteous,
15:19 tenderhearted, pitiful, there'd be 100 conversions
15:23 to the truth where now there is... but one,
15:25 and she packed up her luggage
15:27 and she got on that six-month voyage to come here,
15:29 and while she was here, she wrote Desire of Ages
15:32 and Steps to Christ and Christ's Object Lessons,
15:36 so many wonderful books,
15:37 God did bless her in a mighty way,
15:39 and then she heads home
15:41 just before the 1901 General Conference Session,
15:45 and at that session still... before that session
15:50 everybody is fighting back and forth,
15:52 G. I. Butler had taken upon himself
15:55 to be the guardian of truth, and he is traveling everywhere
16:00 he's bad-mouthing Jones and Waggoner,
16:02 and Uriah Smith has joined with him,
16:04 and they're having this huge fight everywhere,
16:07 it's just continuum, and things aren't much better
16:11 here for Australia, because Ellen White had Prescott
16:15 and Prescott was making mighty,
16:18 mighty waves here in this country,
16:20 spiritual waves that people were loving Prescott,
16:23 and Ellen White writes to the...
16:25 oh and A. G. Daniells, of course,
16:27 was here as the President at that time,
16:29 he was loving what Prescott was doing too,
16:31 they wrote to the General Conference and said,
16:32 "We would love if you would allow Prescott to be here
16:36 and preach more meetings,
16:37 we don't think there's any reason for Camp Meetings here,
16:39 if he can't preach at these Camp Meetings
16:41 and be the one to raise up the work here,"
16:43 the Brethren wrote back and said, "No, no... "
16:48 flat no... wow!
16:52 what do you do in these kinds of situations
16:56 well, she went back,
17:00 she continued to talk and labor with the Brethren
17:03 before the meetings and then
17:04 in the 1901 General Conference Session,
17:07 there was about... a total of 200
17:09 and I think it was 68 people that were there,
17:12 they came to that meeting and all of this turmoil,
17:17 all of this stuff... backbiting...
17:20 and everything else was going on... at that time,
17:24 and I'm going to share a video with you today,
17:27 I had a wonderful privilege of being a part of it,
17:30 I'm on the General Conference
17:32 Revival and Reformation Committee,
17:33 it's been a wonderful thing
17:35 we've been going... about five years now,
17:37 Elder Wilson appointed the committee
17:39 right after he was elected the first time,
17:41 and it's been... I think... a tremendous blessing
17:43 for a lot of people in the church,
17:45 and we said, "We want to get away
17:48 and have a weekend retreat, just to pray and study
17:51 and see what God's will is... " well, we did that,
17:53 we went up to... kind of Delaware there
17:56 and had a little hotel and a very quiet area,
18:00 and we invited Ron Clouzet to come up on Sabbath morning
18:05 to preach for us, the rest of the time
18:07 it was kind of more unstructured just pray and study together,
18:10 and Ron spent Friday with us,
18:13 and at the end of Friday, he said,
18:14 "Man, I threw away my sermon
18:17 I know this isn't what God wants me to preach"
18:19 so he spent almost all night, I think,
18:21 on Friday night, working on it,
18:23 Sabbath morning he began delivering that message,
18:25 and as he delivered it, he mentioned 1901,
18:27 I turned over to Jeanine, my wife, and said,
18:30 he's going to talk about "What might have been"
18:32 well, he touched on it briefly but then he continued on
18:35 but I couldn't get it out of my mind,
18:37 and at lunch,
18:39 I'm sitting with the GC Communications
18:41 and I said, "Williams, we need to do a video on this"
18:45 "Yeah," he said, "write a script"
18:46 "well," I said, "I don't want to write a script
18:48 unless Elder Wilson likes the idea,
18:50 I don't want to waste the time"
18:51 but, Elder Wilson was walking past the table
18:53 at that moment, we jumped up and we said,
18:55 "What do you think, what do you think about this?"
18:56 "Okay," he said, "write a script, do it,"
18:58 so Saturday night, I went home,
19:00 worked for a couple of hours,
19:02 started writing on Sunday morning,
19:03 about 3:30 in the morning, wrote till 2 in the afternoon,
19:05 and I sent it to Elder Wilson and he wrote back and he said,
19:08 "Do it... get together with GC Communication... "
19:10 I got together with Communications on Monday,
19:12 they said, "We don't have time for that"
19:14 I said, "No problem, we can do it. "
19:15 The real short of all that is
19:19 by Thursday I was flying to California
19:21 when I landed, I had a fully approved budget
19:23 and a green light from the
19:25 General Conference Headquarters to get it done.
19:27 Well, I don't know if you know much about this
19:29 but the church does not work that fast,
19:31 it was totally a "God thing" and we saw miracles
19:37 as God led in the filming of this...
19:39 of this... in many ways
19:41 even... I'll tell you... one fellow,
19:43 a doctor... a friend of mine that was playing one part,
19:46 he was sitting next to an extra from this church that we used,
19:49 he is sitting there and they get to talking a little bit
19:53 and it was the doctor's brother
19:55 who had run this guy out of the church years ago,
19:57 he had been so mean and nasty to him,
19:59 he had run him out of the church and the doctor said,
20:02 "Well, when I apologize to you" he said,
20:05 "I'll be apologizing for my brother too"
20:08 and so, there were real things happening
20:11 while we were filming this, and many of them said,
20:14 we were in tears as we were filming,
20:16 as different parts... and many people...
20:18 you could feel the Holy Spirit moving in such a mighty way
20:21 so, I want to share this video with you now,
20:25 it's about 20 minutes that we're going to share
20:29 and then I want to talk with you just a little bit...
20:30 right afterwards, so...
20:32 we can bring the house lights down
20:34 and we'll share that video with you now.
20:38 Music playing...
20:44 Ellen White is writing on paper...
20:51 Ellen White writing some more...
20:57 Knock on the door...
21:03 Brother Irwin walking in...
21:08 Oh, Brother Irwin, you look troubled,
21:11 what could be weighing on your heart?
21:15 I am troubled, Brother Daniells,
21:22 the 34th session of the General Conference
21:24 begins tomorrow morning in Battle Creek,
21:27 it's 1901, Jesus still has not come,
21:31 I've been researching
21:36 some of the counsels from Sister White...
21:39 I could really be blessed if you'd share that with me.
21:43 It's very hard to believe,
21:45 "For forty years, the unbelief, murmuring and rebellion
21:51 shut out ancient Israel from the land of Canaan.
21:56 In neither case were the promises of God at fault,
22:00 it is the unbelief, the worldliness, unconsecration
22:04 and strife among the Lord's professed people,
22:08 that have kept us in this world of sin and sorrow
22:11 for so many years. "
22:12 Well, the servant of the Lord is straightforward
22:16 concerning God's people,
22:17 unbelief, worldliness, unconsecration and strife...
22:24 this delay is our fault, well, my fault.
22:30 It is... let me share something I found that she wrote
22:36 just 36 months ago,
22:38 this one's really kind of shocking...
22:41 especially to me since it's during my term in office,
22:45 "Had the church of Christ done her appointed work
22:49 as the Lord ordained,
22:51 the whole world would have been warned,
22:55 the Lord Jesus would have come to earth
22:59 in power and great glory,"
23:01 she wrote that 36 months ago during my term as President.
23:06 It is our fault.
23:09 We have let God down, my brother,
23:14 we as Leaders, have let God down.
23:18 We must humble ourselves,
23:21 we must become living examples of what a leader could be
23:26 when Jesus is in His heart,
23:28 I don't even know how to pray it anymore,
23:33 how can we beg God to shake away
23:39 this Laodicean slumber?
23:42 Oh, I could not agree more
23:45 I have been experiencing
23:48 the same burden of heart, as I perceive... you are,
23:52 let's seek God's help right now...
23:56 Together? Together... oh my Brother!
24:00 Lord of glory, you have been ready to come
24:07 for a very long time,
24:08 and yet you have been waiting for us,
24:13 please forgive us and help us as Leaders
24:18 to surrender all of self to you...
24:22 Yes Lord...
24:23 you know this sin lies at our door,
24:25 change us, help us... die the death of self
24:30 and live in you,
24:32 please take our lives today, amen.
24:38 Two Leaders walking up the stairs...
24:44 Brother Butler,
24:45 I feel that the Lord is going something wonderful among us,
24:49 I'm looking forward to this session
24:51 for months now, He has been speaking to my heart
24:55 through my private sessions of study and prayer.
24:58 I couldn't agree with you more Brother Haskell,
25:01 I sense His leading in my life
25:03 He's been revealing to me that although I believed I was humble
25:09 that's not the case,
25:10 I have been very arrogant,
25:13 He's leading me to die a a greater death to self
25:16 than ever before,
25:17 I cannot explain it but I know
25:20 that I must change dramatically.
25:22 Audience singing...
25:28 Worthy the lamb for He was slain.
25:37 Leader walking up to the pulpit...
25:47 sitting down...
25:51 Please join with me as I read a portion of Psalm 106
25:55 "We have sinned with our fathers,
26:01 we have committed iniquity,
26:03 we have done wickedly.
26:05 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt;
26:09 they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies;
26:13 but provoked him at the sea,
26:16 even at the Red sea.
26:18 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake,
26:23 that he might make his mighty power to be known.
26:27 They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel:
26:34 But murmured in their tents,
26:37 and hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.
26:41 Save us, O Lord our God,
26:47 and gather us from among the heathen,
26:50 to give thanks unto thy holy name,
26:53 and to triumph in thy praise.
26:57 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel
27:00 from everlasting to everlasting:
27:04 and let all the people say, Amen.
27:07 Praise ye the Lord. "
27:14 Leader sitting down...
27:19 Fellow believers,
27:24 please join me as we kneel for prayer.
27:27 Audience kneeling...
27:35 kneeling...
27:40 Lord, how desperately we need you,
27:43 we cannot continue as we have
27:46 we must learn humility before you,
27:49 teach us humility, I pray,
27:52 help us die to self and surrender all to thee
27:56 let us be led as little children by thy hand,
28:00 walk among us in these meetings,
28:03 help us put away all strife among us.
28:06 O holy Father, we pray for a manifestation
28:11 of thy power, we ask thee to forgive our sins
28:16 our neglect to follow as we should have... in the past
28:20 Lord, help us to follow in thine opening providence,
28:25 and understand the mind of thy Spirit,
28:27 In Jesus' name... come quickly
28:31 Amen...
28:37 Audience sitting...
28:44 The time has come for the opening
28:47 of the General Conference... the 34th Session of this Body.
28:53 I believe... this Conference will be the most important
28:58 ever held by the Seventh-day Adventist people.
29:02 Amen...
29:04 In light of the Scripture reading,
29:06 I believe that it is essential for each of us
29:11 to call on God for forgiveness
29:15 and to seek for the powerful presence
29:21 of the indwelling Holy Spirit in our lives,
29:27 please, today, seek God with all your being,
29:34 confess sins one to another,
29:38 and may we... during this Conference,
29:43 discover oneness of heart
29:46 may this Conference be a time
29:53 when we can truly be woven together...
29:59 in His grace...
30:02 Walking back to chair...
30:09 The light given me is that this people should stand higher
30:15 than any other people on the face of the earth,
30:19 we should be a loyal people...
30:23 a people who will rightly represent the truth
30:27 the sanctifying power of the truth,
30:32 revealed in our lives
30:35 will distinguish us from the world.
30:40 We should stand in moral dignity
30:44 having such a close connection to heaven
30:48 that the Lord God of Israel can give us a place in the earth
30:54 year after year... the same acknowledgement has been made,
31:03 but the principles which exalt a people
31:08 have not be woven into the work
31:11 God has given us clear light as to what we should do
31:18 and what we should not do
31:22 but we have departed from that light,
31:26 and it is a marvel to me
31:29 that we stand in as much prosperity as we do today
31:33 it is because of the great mercy of our God
31:39 not because of our righteousness but that His name
31:45 should not be dishonored in the world.
31:50 The Word of God should be our guide,
31:54 have you given heed to the Word?
31:59 My writings should in no way take the place of the Bible,
32:05 they are to bring you to that neglected Word,
32:08 that you may eat the words of Christ
32:12 that you might feed upon them
32:14 that by living faith you may be built up
32:19 upon that which you feed,
32:21 if you live in obedience to Christ's Word,
32:26 you are eating the leaves of the tree of life
32:30 that are for the healing of the nations.
32:34 Let us, right here, at this meeting
32:40 see that the converting power of God is essential
32:45 if we take hold of the Master,
32:50 take hold of all the power He has given us,
32:54 the salvation of God will be revealed.
33:00 Amen...
33:05 In the past, in the past...
33:12 I have not been in union with some of you,
33:15 and today I see myself more and more
33:20 as God must see me, for in His Word...
33:24 let's read together,
33:26 "Because thou sayest I am rich and increased with goods,
33:33 and have need of nothing... "
33:35 Oh my! in my self-sufficiency I have been just like that
33:44 "and knowest not that thou art wretched and miserable
33:50 and poor and blind and naked... "
33:52 and I see that this is my condition...
33:58 not someone else's but mine...
34:01 "my eyes... " my eyes are being opened
34:07 my spirit has been harsh,
34:11 it has been unjust
34:14 and I had thought myself righteous... and yet...
34:20 today my heart is breaking
34:22 for I sense that I'm desperately in need
34:26 of the counsel of the one who has searched me
34:29 listen... "I counsel thee to buy of me
34:35 gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich;
34:39 and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed,
34:44 and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear;
34:48 and anoint thine eyes with eye salve,
34:51 that thou mayest see. "
34:52 My Brother, please forgive me
35:02 I have made of your life a living hell!
35:07 Leader getting up...
35:14 I have been arrogant, it is my fault as well
35:19 please forgive me...
35:21 Hugging...
35:31 Brothers and Sisters,
35:33 we have received a great light from the Lord,
35:38 it is time we believe and walk in that light...
35:42 Amen...
35:44 We have something to do, we must repent of our sins
35:52 and humble our hearts before God,
35:56 I have found it difficult, as a Leader,
36:01 to detach from the clutches of the world
36:06 and to get rid of self...
36:14 there are so many eyes upon me
36:17 I know I must... please forgive my angry words
36:25 and my actions against you.
36:27 I do forgive you, but it is not just you
36:35 it has been me, my self-seeking,
36:40 I tried to influence others against you
36:45 can you ever forgive me?
36:48 We are brothers united in Christ,
36:52 the answer is "Yes," yes...
36:56 Amen...
37:03 music...
37:09 I must ask forgiveness of you, I am so very sorry,
37:14 you are my brother,
37:16 but I have not loved you as my own flesh and blood,
37:20 I must ask God to give me the love for you
37:23 that I profess for Christ.
37:25 Amen...
37:30 And I... I must fall in line with God's will and calling
37:36 forgive me my brother,
37:39 for talking behind you in Committee...
37:42 and behind your back
37:44 I cannot love Christ if I don't love you
37:49 I'm so sorry my brother, I'm so sorry...
37:55 Amen...
37:57 Blest be the tie that binds
38:03 our hearts in Christian love;
38:10 the fellowship of kindred minds
38:17 is like to that above.
38:25 Music...
38:34 Ellen, Ellen...
38:40 Where am I?
38:45 You are in a vision,
38:48 the Lord wanted to show you what might have been
38:52 what might have happened at the General Conference Session,
38:57 What I saw... wasn't real?
39:02 I'm afraid not...
39:04 The Father was ready to pour out His Spirit upon the assembly
39:09 and finish the work in this world and cut it short
39:13 in righteousness,
39:14 but the delegates would not humble themselves
39:17 had they... in humility of soul
39:21 led out in the work of confessing and consecration
39:25 giving evidence that they had received the
39:27 counsels and warnings sent by the Lord
39:30 to correct their mistakes,
39:31 there would have been one of the greatest revivals
39:35 that there has been since the day of Pentecost.
39:39 It never happened...
39:48 Ellen is crying...
39:57 Ellen White was heartbroken because I revealed to her
40:00 that within the past history
40:02 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
40:04 God was ready to return to earth
40:06 and take His children home,
40:07 ending this long night of strife and sadness,
40:11 but like Israel of old, you refuse to enter Canaan,
40:15 you would not follow after God and trust in Him,
40:20 you became a rebellious people
40:23 the Lord's messenger has been witness to the glory of heaven
40:27 and has experienced the joy of walking with Jesus,
40:30 this is why her heart was broken.
40:34 Ellen crying...
40:43 What are the reasons?
40:45 You know, Ellen White said, "I've seen a better world
40:52 and it has spoiled this one for me... "
40:54 where are we looking
40:57 where are our eyes, are we happy?
41:00 Still eating sand in the desert?
41:04 Isn't it time to go home?
41:06 I'd like to invite everyone, if you could... to kneel...
41:10 and when we kneel,
41:12 I'd just like to ask a few people to pray.
41:15 And then, when everybody is done I'll close,
41:17 let's kneel.
41:22 Father, we're tired Lord,
41:30 and we've acted just like your children before,
41:35 we've been happy to just wander around,
41:42 we pray today Father, please,
41:45 make us willing to be made willing
41:47 take our hearts, Lord, for we cannot give them,
41:51 may this church here be a light on the hill,
41:57 Lord, may it spur revival in all of Australia
42:02 because you're shining through each and every person
42:06 because each and everyone here has made a commitment to you
42:09 above all else, please change us
42:15 we want to go home with you, please come quickly
42:19 in Jesus' name. Amen.
