00:31 Today, I wanna pray for our leaders
00:33 and the quality of good leadership. 00:36 The Bible lists many leaders, 00:38 including Moses, Miriam, Joshua, 00:41 David, Debra, Peter, Paul, Phoebe, 00:44 many who shared the good godly qualities in common. 00:48 But, of course, our greatest model of leadership is 00:50 Jesus Christ, 00:52 which brings us to today's scripture 00:54 taken from John 13:3-5 and 14. 00:58 "Jesus knew that the Father had put all things 01:00 under His power 01:02 and that He had come from God and was returning to God. 01:05 So He got up from the meal, 01:06 took off His outer clothing 01:08 and wrapped a towel around His waist. 01:10 After that He poured water into a basin 01:12 and began to wash His disciples' feet, 01:14 drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him." 01:18 Verse 14, Jesus gives us this instruction. 01:21 "And now that I, your Lord and teacher 01:23 have washed your feet, 01:25 you also should wash one another's feet." 01:29 Jesus demonstrated 01:31 that leadership is not an attempt to control others, 01:34 but rather a willingness to lower yourself 01:36 to serve the needs of others. 01:38 Godly leaders are disciplined and willing to deny self. 01:42 The hallmark of godly leadership 01:44 is humility, 01:46 which can be defined as total dependence upon God. 01:50 Godly leadership is based on much prayer. 01:53 Leaders in business ministry, or the home 01:56 should be motivated to serve 01:58 the greater good of their group. 02:00 Good leaders will not take the glory to themselves, 02:03 but will rather share the glory 02:05 ultimately giving the glory to God. 02:08 And good leaders follow. 02:18 I will follow Thee, my Savior 02:23 Wheresoe'er my lot may be 02:27 Where Thou goest I will follow 02:32 Yes, my Lord, I'll follow Thee 02:37 I will follow Thee, my Savior 02:42 Thou didst shed Thy blood for me 02:47 And though all men should forsake Thee 02:52 By Thy grace 02:54 I'll follow Thee 03:01 Heavenly Father, 03:03 thank You for being a mighty God 03:05 and savior of this world. 03:08 We need you more than ever before. 03:11 And thank You that we can call upon You 03:13 In every circumstance. 03:15 We pray in a special way for our leadership 03:18 around the world, 03:20 around each country, 03:22 around each state, 03:24 within our conference, 03:25 within our church, 03:27 within each school 03:29 and even family. 03:31 Please help them to know how to guide your people 03:34 for your soon return 03:36 and that there is hope in you 03:39 and that you are in control of everything. 03:41 So please be with our leadership 03:43 in a special way during this time. 03:45 And in Jesus we pray, amen. 03:50 Lord, at this moment we lift up our leaders, 03:54 the leaders that You've placed in our families, 03:58 our local churches, our workplaces, 04:01 our communities, our states, 04:04 our countries in our world church. 04:07 We ask that You would give them uncommon wisdom 04:11 as they navigate through difficult decisions. 04:14 We thank You for their service and their dedication 04:18 as some of these leaders are not paid. 04:22 And we just ask that You would bless them 04:24 and that they would be encouraged 04:27 to know that they're working for You. 04:29 Thank You for their service 04:33 Though the road be rough and thorny 04:38 Trackless as the foaming sea 04:43 Thou hast trod this way before me 04:48 And I gladly 04:51 Follow Thee 04:56 Though I meet with tribulation 05:01 Sorely tempted though I be 05:05 I remember Thou wast tempted 05:10 And I rejoice to follow Thee 05:16 I will follow Thee, my Savior 05:21 Thou didst shed Thy blood for me 05:27 And though all men should forsake Thee 05:33 By Thy grace 05:36 I'll follow Thee 05:44 Father in heaven, Lord, we thank You 05:47 that You are our leader. 05:49 Thank You that we can follow You 05:51 wherever You take us. 05:52 That Lord right now, I just pray that 05:54 all of us are leaders. 05:56 Lord, if it's at work, 05:58 in our family, church, school, 06:01 Lord, we all have a sphere of influence. 06:04 And I just pray today that we would be the leaders 06:06 that You have called us to be 06:08 that we would stand firm 06:10 as the needle is to the pole 06:11 and, Lord, that we wouldn't be swayed 06:13 one way or the other, 06:14 but that we would follow You as our leader. 06:17 Thank You oh, Lord, for being our guide, 06:19 our father and our provider, in Jesus' name we pray, amen. 06:28 Oh, Most High God, 06:30 we just lift up our leaders before You 06:33 and ask You to please give them wisdom 06:36 and direction and guidance. 06:40 We know that if we depend upon ourselves 06:44 and don't reach out to You, 06:46 then we are making a huge mistake 06:49 because You are the omnipotent, omniscient God. 06:53 And so we need to tap into You and get direction from You. 06:59 So, Lord, we just ask for that for our leaders 07:02 and ask You to continue to be with them, 07:04 to guide them and direct them. 07:07 We ask in the worthy name of Jesus, 07:09 our savior, amen. 07:15 Our loving heavenly Father, 07:17 We come before You in Jesus' name 07:20 to pray for the leaders of the homes, 07:22 the churches, the conferences, 07:24 the unions, the divisions, the general conference, 07:27 and even the leaders of this country. 07:30 Lord, help them to understand 07:31 that it is a God given responsibility 07:34 and that Satan will go to destroy them, 07:37 help them to understand that daily they need Jesus. 07:41 So they can be godly leaders, 07:43 loving leaders and faithful leaders 07:46 through Jesus Christ, in Jesus' name, amen. 07:52 Psalms 32:8 says, 07:55 "I will instruct you 07:57 and teach you in the way you should go. 07:59 I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." 08:05 Father, I thank You that You are our counselor. 08:08 And so many times, 08:11 in fact, all the time, we need to pray to You 08:14 for counsel and for guidance. 08:17 But I thank You for being there for us too. 08:21 Be our example, and to instruct us 08:24 in the times that are... 08:28 We have no human capacity 08:31 or ability to do the right thing. 08:35 God, be our strength, be our counsel, 08:39 be our wisdom, be our leadership, oh God, 08:42 that we would follow hard after You, Lord. 08:47 And, Father, we want to be leaders of integrity 08:50 as Psalm 78:72 said, 08:53 "David shepherded them with integrity of heart, 08:56 with skillful hands he led them." 08:59 So, Father, I thank You 09:00 that You are giving our leaders integrity. 09:04 In our government, oh, God, I ask in Jesus' name 09:07 that You would fill our leaders 09:09 with a desire to be pure in heart 09:11 and pure in mind and pure in deed. 09:13 Father, that there would be no selfish motive 09:16 in their leadership. 09:21 God, as we look around we see 09:26 corruption in leadership 09:28 and our hearts just cry out in frustration 09:34 at the unfairness of that. 09:36 So, God, I just ask 09:38 that You would reach deep into the heart of our leaders, 09:42 give them a desire 09:44 to be men and women of integrity. 09:52 Lord, I pray for our viewers 09:53 who are struggling in their marriages 09:56 and with family issues. 10:01 One viewer says, 10:04 "I need God to bring godly men 10:06 in my friends and cousins' lives. 10:10 Many of them are unmarried and it's worrisome," they say. 10:17 Lord, we know the importance of healthy relationships, 10:20 friendships. 10:23 We know that we can be easily led astray 10:26 by the wrong people, 10:27 by the wrong friends. 10:31 So I pray, oh God, 10:33 that You would help us to be mindful 10:34 of who we let into our lives. 10:38 Be mindful of knowing that they are godly people 10:42 and, Lord, that we would be godly 10:45 to attract godly people. 10:54 Someone else requests prayer for God to open doors 10:58 for a godly husband and good, friendly girlfriends. 11:07 Another requests prayer for healing of cancer 11:13 and for guidance, 11:15 whether or not to take chemotherapy. 11:20 Lord, we know that sometimes 11:26 the medicines 11:27 and the supposed cures, 11:29 the things that we have to go through to fix 11:33 and remedy our sicknesses 11:36 are sometimes worse than the sicknesses themselves. 11:40 Give us wisdom I pray to take care of our bodies. 11:47 And when we're forced to make a decision 11:50 in situations like chemotherapy, 11:54 Lord, may we just know that you are our healer 11:58 and that you do use various ways 12:03 and means to heal us. 12:06 We would all love for Your touch 12:07 to be on our life 12:09 that we would be totally healed by Your hand. 12:11 Lord, that's not always the case. 12:13 It's just not. 12:16 So, help us to resolve, to trust in You. 12:19 And to know that 12:21 if our heart is right with You, 12:25 then that's the important thing. 12:31 One person writes in and says, 12:32 "I'm a homeless man. 12:34 I'm searching for the Lord Jesus Christ, 12:36 however smoking cigarettes 12:39 keeps me or keeps getting in the way. 12:42 I wanna serve Jesus, but every time I smoke, 12:44 I feel dirty and drawn away from Jesus. 12:48 Please pray that God gives me the strength to quit. 12:52 So I could be of service to Him." 12:58 Just know that 13:02 smoking doesn't get in your way. 13:05 I've heard people think that smoking will send you to hell. 13:10 It may make you smell like it, 13:13 but God's power is bigger than that. 13:17 He wants your heart. 13:18 He wants you delivered from any addiction 13:23 that you might serve Him with your whole heart. 13:25 So, Father, I just pray for our viewers 13:29 who just need closer walk with you, 13:31 Lord, we all need a closer walk with you. 13:33 You are our strength. 13:35 You are our power. 13:36 You are the divine wisdom 13:39 and source of wisdom and leadership. 13:43 Father, God, we just commit our lives to You. 13:46 And we ask in Jesus' name Your kingdom come, 13:50 Your will be done. 13:53 Please
