00:32 Today, we want to pray for the laity.
00:34 One definition of laity is ordinary people 00:37 as distinct from professionals or clergy, 00:39 just ordinary people. 00:41 Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:11, 00:43 that God gave some to be apostles, 00:45 some prophets, some evangelists, 00:48 and some pastors and teachers 00:50 for the equipping of the saints, 00:51 for the work of ministry, 00:52 for the edifying of the church, 00:54 the body of Christ. 00:56 You may sit in a pew and wish that 00:58 you would have been called to be one of the clergy. 01:01 I've got news for you. It's good news. 01:03 You are an evangelist. 01:05 We are all evangelists. 01:08 If you don't believe me, 01:09 Matthew recorded what Jesus said, 01:11 "Go therefore, 01:13 and make disciples of all nations." 01:15 And evangelist is a person 01:16 who seeks to convert others to Jesus. 01:19 Have you ever told anyone that Jesus loves them? 01:22 That's evangelism. 01:24 If people see love and compassion in you, 01:26 it will draw them to Jesus. 01:28 And if you want others to have joy like you have, 01:31 share Jesus with them. 01:33 So let's pray now for the laity. 01:35 Pray for one another. 01:40 Dear Father in heaven, 01:42 You have told us the harvest is great, 01:45 but the laborers are few. 01:47 Lord give us the desire 01:49 to be laborers in Your vineyard. 01:51 You have also said, 01:53 "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel." 01:57 Lord, all the world includes where we live. 02:01 Please give us the desire to labor in our part 02:05 of Your vineyard. 02:07 Help us to share Your love with those near us. 02:10 So they too may be embers 02:12 plucked from the fire as we are. 02:15 It's a privilege to be called laborers 02:18 in Your vineyard. 02:19 And we thank You in Jesus' name. 02:22 Amen. 02:26 Dear Lord, thank You for the privilege 02:28 of being called Your children. 02:30 Help us to be like You, 02:32 grant Your guidance that we may stand in the place 02:34 You have called us to be, 02:36 doing the work that You have called us to do. 02:39 Let us be Your hands and feet, 02:41 alleviating some of the suffering 02:42 of the world about us. 02:44 May we all be touched by Your Spirit, 02:46 filling our hearts with Your heavenly love. 02:49 May the world be a better place for us having lived in it. 02:52 We ask in Jesus' name. Amen. 03:01 It may not be on the mountain's height 03:07 Or over the stormy sea 03:12 It may not be at the battle's front 03:17 My Lord will have need of me 03:23 But if by a still Small voice 03:27 He calls To paths I do not know 03:34 I'll answer, dear Lord 03:37 With my hand in Thine 03:40 I'll go where You want me to go 03:46 I'll go where You want me to go, 03:51 Dear Lord O'er mountain, 03:54 Or plain, or sea 03:58 I'll say what You want me to say, 04:02 Dear Lord 04:04 I'll be what You want me to be 04:13 Perhaps today 04:16 There are loving words 04:19 Which Jesus would have me speak 04:24 There may be now, 04:27 In the paths of sin 04:30 Some wanderer whom I should seek 04:36 O Savior, if Thou wilt be my Guide 04:41 Though dark and rugged the way 04:46 My voice shall echo 04:49 Sweet message sweet 04:53 I'll say what You want me to say 05:02 Our dear heavenly Father, 05:04 we come before You today 05:06 to pray for our laity in Your church. 05:09 Allow the Holy Spirit 05:11 to work through them for Your glory. 05:14 Our laypeople in the church represent Christ in His church. 05:19 Lord, use our laymen according to their gifts 05:22 for Your witness. 05:24 Help them carry on Christ's work 05:27 to show the love of the Father's character. 05:30 Allow the laymen to show the Father's love 05:33 in their lives, 05:35 through their worship 05:36 and through their guidance in Your church. 05:39 In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. 05:45 God, I want to thank You for the people 05:47 that You have put in various leadership positions 05:50 within the church. 05:51 That help it to function 05:52 and be a resource sprits community. 05:55 I pray that You would bless efforts 05:57 that are put forth by these individuals. 05:59 That their efforts would be watered 06:01 with the Holy Spirit and multiply. 06:03 Give them wisdom and guidance 06:05 on how to best handle the affairs of the church 06:08 when a pastor is not available. 06:10 Shelter them with Your grace 06:11 and protect them from the attacks 06:13 that they may encounter 06:15 either within or without the church 06:16 when they are striving to do Your will, Lord. 06:19 Father, it is my prayer that the love of Christ 06:22 may be seen in all they do, 06:24 for You have chosen these people 06:26 to lead out in their churches and communities 06:28 for such a time as this. 06:30 May Your gospel continue to go forward I pray 06:33 through the resources available in the laity 06:36 who have accepted the call. 06:38 Amen. 06:42 Father, today I want to lift up the laity. 06:44 When I think of laity, I think of those individuals 06:46 that work day in and day out 06:48 putting in tireless hours for You. 06:51 And oftentimes the work that they do 06:53 is not recognized by man at all. 06:55 Lord, I just pray that 06:56 You would provide a special blessing 06:58 for them today. 06:59 Special protection on them and their families 07:02 that You would provide their financial needs. 07:04 Lord, whatever their desires are on their hearts. 07:07 Lord, You know what they are. 07:08 And I just ask that 07:10 You would provide that for them today. 07:11 Thank you Lord, for the effort and the work 07:14 that the laity put forward on a day-to-day basis 07:16 to spread Your gospel around the world 07:19 and in Jesus' name I pray. 07:20 Amen. 07:24 Father, right now I just think of all the laypeople out there, 07:27 Lord, that are doing Your work in the midst 07:31 of all that's going on. 07:33 Father, I pray for each and every one 07:35 for grace and strength and protection, 07:37 Lord, from getting sick. 07:40 Lord, I pray that You would just give wisdom 07:43 where wisdom is needed, 07:44 Lord, and that You would help each and every one of them 07:47 to continue to do the work 07:49 that You have for them to do, Lord. 07:50 In Jesus' name, amen. 07:57 I'll go 07:59 Where You want me to go, 08:03 Dear Lord O'er mountain, 08:06 Or plain, or sea 08:12 I'll say what You want me to say, 08:17 Dear Lord I'll be what You want 08:22 Me to be 08:33 Father, I believe that You have equipped us 08:35 for every good work, 08:40 and yet many are not working. 08:45 Many have itching ears, 08:46 and they need to hear Your sound doctrine, 08:49 yet we haven't responded to them. 08:53 Father, forgive us when we pass up opportunities 08:56 to tell Your truth or to share Your Word. 09:02 Forgive us when we have allowed the lost 09:04 to remain that way. 09:08 Lord, forgive us for our idleness. 09:12 Fill us with compassion for the lost 09:15 that we would ourselves turn back to You 09:18 for another chance to speak Your word 09:21 of love and hope and faith 09:25 as we work to fulfill Your commission 09:30 and to glorify Your name, Lord. 09:34 Father, You have called us to holiness 09:38 each of us, 09:41 which means sharing in Your divine life. 09:45 So Father, I ask that You will fill us with a sense 09:48 of our true dignity 09:50 as those who are called 09:52 to be Your children in this world. 09:55 We are Your ambassadors each of us 10:00 of love and justice and peace. 10:17 I pray for our young people. 10:21 I ask God that You would give them a hunger 10:25 for the things of God 10:28 and for strength to resist distractions. 10:32 Lord, I pray that 10:34 You will preserve their youthful minds 10:35 and renew them and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. 10:44 I come against the spirit of rebellion 10:46 and disrespect. 10:50 Lord, I lift up the parents. 10:53 I ask for strength and grace and love for their children, 10:59 that they would be holy examples, 11:01 portraying You, Lord. 11:05 Father God, fill our homes with peace 11:08 and healthy parent relationships. 11:16 Father, may Your love conquer all. 11:22 Move in the homes by Your Holy Spirit. 11:30 Father have Your way. 11:36 Right now, just take a moment 11:37 to pray for someone in need. 11:45 Pray for your own calling. 11:47 Ask the Lord to open a door, to use you to minister. 12:23 Father God, I lift up those 12:24 who are battling disease. 12:30 They're feeling the painful chronic disease, 12:33 Lord, that there's no hope that it will go away. 12:41 Father. 12:42 I pray that You will give them strength 12:47 to hang tight, 12:50 to not give up on You, 12:54 but to trust in You 12:55 for strength to make it through. 13:01 God, You are a good God. 13:04 And we love You, Lord. 13:11 Help me to say what You want me to say. 13:15 Help me to be what You want me to be. 13:19 Help me to be faithful 13:23 when You tell me to go to go. 13:30 Thank You, Lord, for the wonderful gospel. 13:40 Now go and tell someone
