00:31 I recently read that an elderly or older person
00:34 is defined as one who is 65 or older. 00:39 In that case, I imagine we all know someone 00:41 who classifies as elderly, 00:43 though we may not consider them elderly. 00:46 As a significant and growing percentage of society, 00:49 the elderly population is vital to our communities, 00:53 and they are a huge source of wisdom 00:55 due to their life experience. 00:57 If you are blessed to have grandparents, 00:59 parents or neighbors who are elderly, 01:02 I encourage you to celebrate them 01:04 and aim to better understand them. 01:07 Some elderly people may have various challenges, 01:11 but God has a purpose for us all. 01:13 And some wonderful relationships are waiting 01:15 to be cultivated, if you'll simply reach out 01:18 and love them. 01:20 And if you think there's nothing in God's Word 01:22 that enforces respect for our elders, 01:25 among various laws in Leviticus 19:32, says, 01:30 "Stand up in the presence of the aged, 01:32 show respect for the elderly, and revere your God, 01:36 I am the Lord." 01:39 To those of you who are 65 and older, 01:42 thank you for the lessons you teach those of us 01:44 who are quickly approaching your status. 01:47 Thank you for the difference that many 01:49 of you have made in my life. 01:51 We were all younger once, 01:53 though you may have been more active at one time, 01:56 you will never lack purpose as long as you are alive. 01:59 If you can breathe, 02:01 you can pray, 02:02 you can love, 02:04 you can hope. 02:05 Whatever your capacity, give it all you've got. 02:08 I challenge you don't grow weary. 02:10 Finish strong, be hopeful, and hold on to God's Word. 02:15 reminds us to, 02:18 "Hold firmly to the word of life, 02:20 then on the day of Christ's return, 02:22 I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain, 02:26 that my work was not useless." 02:32 Lord, I come to You in the name of Jesus, 02:36 asking for Your help to be a doer of the Word 02:40 and not just a hearer only. 02:43 Help me to be mindful of the needs of others. 02:47 In Jesus' name, amen. 02:53 Dear Father in heaven, 02:55 thank You for the examples of Your love for the elderly, 02:58 the shut-ins, 02:59 and all the suffering infirmities. 03:02 In Matthew 15, we are told, 03:04 great multitudes came to You, the lame, the blind, 03:08 the deaf, the dumb, the leper, the maimed, 03:12 and many others were laid down at Your feet, 03:16 and You heal them all. 03:18 Such love. 03:19 In 1 Corinthians 15, You tell us, 03:22 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, 03:25 the dead shall be raised incorruptible 03:29 and the living shall also be changed." 03:32 Such love. 03:34 Whether we receive healing now or then, 03:37 we will all be restored finally, and forever. 03:42 What a glorious promise and what glorious love. 03:46 Thank you, Father. 03:48 In Jesus' name we pray.
