00:59 Thank You.
01:00 Good evening and welcome to each of you.
01:03 Good to see you again.
01:05 How long has it been?
01:08 Some of you, I've noticed, are bringing your sleeping bags now.
01:12 A little sack lunch, and that's good.
01:14 Last night, if you'll recall, we concluded by going inside
01:18 the great pyramid just outside Cairo.
01:21 Tonight, we're going to go back again to Egypt.
01:24 This time, to see and talk about King Tutankhamun.
01:29 Or more commonly known as King Tut.
01:33 We've said so many, many times that major cities are born on
01:35 the banks of a river.
01:37 Here, of course, it's the river Nile.
01:41 And baby Moses was found near where I'm taking this picture.
01:44 They said, you know, right here.
01:47 The name Moses means, pulled out, one drawn out of the water.
01:51 I wanted to take a boat ride and so we got aboard this
01:55 that I soon began to name, "the leaky teaky".
02:01 And we had a pleasant ride out on the Nile river
02:05 and then we came back and began to look around some.
02:08 There's the Sphinx again, there's the great pyramid
02:10 that we went inside last night.
02:11 But we have some other important things to see and
02:14 some important places to go.
02:16 We're going to make a very brief stop now
02:20 at the Citadel and also known as the tomb of
02:26 Muhammad Ali Pasha.
02:28 Not the Muhammad Ali that we know and love that
02:32 danced like a butterfly and stung like a bee, but
02:34 Muhammad Ali Pasha, he who brought the faith of Islam
02:38 in the early centuries here to the north of Africa,
02:42 and more particularly to Egypt and Cairo.
02:46 Before you may go inside, even the courtyard, you must
02:49 take off your shoes for it's a holy place, holy ground.
02:52 And then if you're a follower of Islam, after you enter the
02:55 courtyard, you go over to that fountain in the center
02:58 and there, wash your feet.
03:01 And all of it goes back to the time that Moses was at the
03:04 burning bush and God said, "Take off your shoes. "
03:08 On nearly every street corner, there is someone who is selling
03:11 some fruit, some vegetables, or some such thing.
03:14 But if you go, please heed the warning.
03:16 Don't eat anything that has not come out of an oven
03:20 at 350 or 400 degrees, until it's burned almost to a crisp
03:24 because, otherwise, you can really get sick.
03:27 This is the backyard of the motel in which I stayed
03:29 while I was in the city.
03:30 It looks as lovely as any motel, perhaps, in this area or
03:35 along our coast and down in Southern California.
03:37 And directly across the street, there was
03:39 kind of a gruesome sight.
03:41 This is a military prison.
03:43 When I shot this picture, it was about 122 degrees.
03:46 This was in July.
03:47 And there are men behind the bars up at the top, looking
03:50 out and wishing, hoping for a fresh breath, I suppose.
03:55 This, ladies and gentlemen, they call
03:57 "the city with no problems. "
03:58 This is one of the many cemeteries in the city.
04:02 In Islam, they take literally, "dust to dust, earth to earth. "
04:05 And so when one dies, they don't put the body
04:08 in a casket, but rather bury it, just wrapped in a blanket or
04:12 a shroud, in the ground and then build a little house over that.
04:17 And what made me very sad was that these little grave houses
04:21 are much nicer than what some of the farmers are living in,
04:24 if you'll remember last night.
04:27 Now we've moved down to the south and we're looking at the
04:30 treasures of the burial chamber of King Tutankhamun.
04:34 And I want to back up here just for a moment.
04:39 We refer to him often as, "the boy king. "
04:42 We believe he was about 18 years of age when he died.
04:47 For a long, long while, it was wondered why he died so early.
04:50 And then his remains were studied scientifically
04:53 by medical pathologists.
04:56 And they know now that he was just eaten up with tuberculosis.
05:03 That's why he died.
05:06 A man by the name of Howard Carter, who is an Egyptologist
05:11 and a man of Egyptian antiquities, was doing an
05:15 archaeological dig for a very wealthy Brit by the name
05:19 of Lord Carnarvon.
05:21 He'd hired a native crew and they were digging and they
05:24 were looking for treasures in which Carnarvon could place
05:28 treasure in his museum over in Britain.
05:32 Lord Carnarvon had spent a lot of money and had gotten
05:35 in return very, very little.
05:39 Months went by, and then a couple of years.
05:41 And finally, Lord Carnarvon sent an ultimatum to Mr. Carter.
05:46 He said, "Either find something of value or pack it up
05:50 and come home.
05:51 I can no longer afford this. "
05:53 A few pieces of broken pottery, a little shard of this,
05:56 a little dash of that, but nothing of real significance.
06:00 Howard Carter and his crew were, indeed, packing up
06:04 when one of the native workmen literally
06:07 stumbled upon something.
06:11 He looked down and brushed it off and it was a step.
06:13 And they dug down and there was another and another.
06:16 And there long, they were at the entrance of a tomb that
06:20 had never, never been vandalized.
06:24 Now this, for your interest sake, is down in the
06:26 Valley of the Kings about 500 miles south
06:30 of the city of Cairo.
06:33 They came to the closed entrance of the tomb
06:37 and with scientific precision, they carefully made an opening,
06:41 taking drawings and pictures of it all along.
06:45 And then when they had a sufficient opening,
06:47 Howard Carter said, "I put in my torch. "
06:50 And we, of course, would say he shined inside, his flashlight.
06:54 And he said, "The reflection from off the gold
06:56 that came back nearly blinded me. "
06:59 And news was flashed round the world that a tomb
07:02 of a pharaoh had been found unmolested and untouched.
07:07 We mentioned last night when we visited the great pyramids
07:10 that the pharaohs, and the queens also, had these
07:14 magnificent burial chambers made because of their belief
07:18 that there was no death.
07:19 That as soon as one died a spirit or a soul left the body
07:23 where it had been caged up and went on to another life and
07:26 then perhaps to another, and to wonderful and pleasant things.
07:30 And so they would be buried with the things that they enjoyed
07:32 in this life and might continue to enjoy in the afterlife.
07:39 Every pagan culture held these two pagan notions;
07:42 the idea of Sunday sacredness and Sunday worship,
07:45 and the further idea of the immortality of the soul
07:49 that when you die, you don't really die but a soul, a spirit,
07:52 an essence, something lives on.
07:55 It was the Greeks who popularized it and placed it
07:58 into the center of philosophy.
08:02 The Greek scholars, Socrates and Aristotle and many others
08:05 as well, proposed what they called and what is still today
08:09 in psychological circles known as Hellenistic dualism.
08:13 In other words, the body is carnal.
08:16 And every nasty mean thing we ever do is a result of the
08:19 carnality of the body, the influence of the
08:22 lusts of the body.
08:24 On the other hand, every kind decent thing we do is the result
08:28 of the prompting of the soul or the spiritual side,
08:32 the spirit of man.
08:33 But tragically, the soul, the spirit is locked up inside
08:37 this carnal cage until the time of death
08:39 and then it is released, finally it is released.
08:43 Therefore, we have Socrates, as we mentioned last night,
08:46 saying as Shakespeare recorded, "drunk gladly,
08:50 "give me the hemlock," you see, "for death is a release,"
08:53 a graduation to wonderful, wonderful things.
08:56 And so, when King Tut was buried inside his tomb,
08:59 there was placed inside with him a little granary.
09:05 That's what it is, a little seed box.
09:08 And in those various containers and sections, there are
09:11 different seeds that he might enjoy in the afterlife.
09:15 And there were placed inside with him, games and other things
09:18 as we're going to begin to notice.
09:20 These, by the way, happen to be the jugs, the stoppers
09:23 for the canopic urns in which they found
09:26 wonderful, wonderful treasures.
09:28 For you see, when a pharaoh died, it would be from
09:32 30 to 60 days between the time of his death and the time of
09:36 what we would call the funeral.
09:38 And in the interim, it was not a period of weeping or wailing
09:41 or carrying on or grieving, but rather a period of
09:43 solid celebration for the soul had been released.
09:46 And oft times, the body of the pharaoh or the mighty one
09:50 would be opened up over a well and the viscera removed.
09:55 The heart put in one canopic urn and the brain, which had been
10:01 removed through the nostrils so not to destroy the cranium,
10:04 was placed in another.
10:05 And then the liver still in another.
10:08 And then these plugs or corks, if you please,
10:12 were put in and it was made air tight for preservation.
10:17 These are some of the canopic urns carved out of
10:20 pure alabaster, ladies and gentlemen.
10:22 And those things alone were worth a king's ransom.
10:25 Some of the treasures from King Tut's tomb were brought here
10:28 to the United States in the mid 70's and put on display.
10:32 And the finally display of them was over in Seattle and it
10:35 may be that some of you folks here were able to go see them.
10:41 The boy king enjoyed games, not unlike
10:45 what would we say, checkers; Chinese checkers.
10:48 Or chess, or that kind of thing.
10:50 And so they buried inside with him a couple of
10:52 game boards, moreover.
10:55 They buried inside with him, a golden chariot
10:58 so he could take rides.
11:00 His spirit could go for, I don't know, I guess with a
11:03 spiritistic horse or some such thing.
11:06 They buried inside with him, a golden calf.
11:09 And my mind, every time I see this, goes back
11:11 to the children of Israel and the exodus
11:13 when Aaron, left in charge, made the golden calf
11:17 and they rose up to play.
11:19 They worshipped the bull and the male calf because of its
11:23 powers of fertility.
11:24 Now this was the kings day bed for an afternoon nap.
11:28 And it's covered over, ladies and gentlemen, with pure gold.
11:32 And this is his night bed.
11:33 And I want you again to notice on the end or at the
11:36 foot of the bed, the two bulls, and the high horns, and the
11:40 solar disc to symbolize the sun.
11:42 Here is definite evidence of the combination of those two
11:46 pagan elements; the idea that when you die,
11:49 you really don't die, and sun worship and Sunday observance.
11:54 And now, we see the coverings for the digits of the boy king.
12:00 There was made, a funeral mask, as we'll see soon,
12:03 but there were also made coverings for the toes
12:06 and for the fingers, for preservation for the afterlife.
12:11 One would certainly need to have his hands and his feet,
12:14 his fingers, you know, in order to plant the seed,
12:18 or whatever else.
12:19 And it's strange how they co-mingled these ideas
12:22 of a spirit absent from a body, but the necessity
12:25 at the same time of a physical body as well.
12:28 Very, very strange.
12:30 And so, there were made by the lost wax process
12:35 that many sculptors still use today, many who have foundries.
12:38 For instance, over around Enterprise, Oregon
12:41 there are a number of bronze foundries and they still use
12:45 the lost wax process.
12:47 They make a carving or a mold out of wax and then pour this
12:51 molten metal on top of that and it forms into the shape of
12:54 the wax that had been before it that has been surrounded by
12:57 sand, and the wax melts entirely away.
13:02 These are the coverings for the hands, as you can see
13:05 in a folded position.
13:06 And there, ladies and gentlemen, is the outer sarcophagus.
13:10 inside which there were two smaller sarcophagi, or coffins,
13:15 as we would, perhaps, better know them.
13:17 This outer sarcophagus is made of pure gold and then has been
13:21 embedded with semi-precious stones and gems.
13:25 And that outer sarcophagus of pure gold
13:28 weighs more than one ton.
13:31 A ton of pure absolute gold.
13:34 Now,
13:39 a hundred years ago, there came and there are still
13:42 many of the around, what were known as the higher
13:45 critics of the Bible.
13:47 Sometimes today, they're known as historical critics.
13:51 Pick the Bible apart, that they believe is their mission.
13:55 Separate the myth from the fact and the reality.
13:59 Anything that has to do with the miraculous;
14:01 virgin birth, walking on water, turning water into wine,
14:05 a literal second coming, literal hell...
14:07 that's all just a sacred myth.
14:11 Moreover, those stories of the children of Israel
14:15 leaving Egypt in the exodus and taking with them
14:19 large amounts of gold, and out in the desert
14:21 making a golden calf out of a portion of that jewelry,
14:24 just a myth for there never was any such gold in Egypt.
14:29 And then they find these tombs that were just filled with gold.
14:35 And over and again, ladies and gentlemen,
14:37 the spade confirms the Bible.
14:40 Archeology and the study of God's word go hand in hand
14:45 and it's amazing how closely they agree and how
14:49 compatible they really are.
14:51 We're going to conclude here now.
14:52 And I want to thank you for traveling with me.
14:57 And now to our subject, ladies and gentlemen.
14:59 "The New Age Revisited"
15:07 I want to begin by making a statement that I have made here
15:12 on several prior occasions, but feel the necessity
15:16 of repeating it again tonight.
15:18 There may be someone here for the first time.
15:21 Here, in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church,
15:23 here in Lyle Albrecht's prophesy meetings,
15:26 we never sit in judgment upon any Christian person
15:30 or their relationship with Jesus.
15:33 We'll never do that.
15:34 We'll say again that God has His children in all faiths
15:38 and in all churches and all denominations.
15:41 God has His faithful.
15:44 I want to go further than that tonight.
15:47 Not only will we never judge anyone's relationship
15:50 with Jesus, I want to be very clear tonight that I,
15:54 during this subject and particularly near
15:57 its conclusion, mean no harm to any person
16:02 whether that is a doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist,
16:06 practitioner, pastor, or preacher.
16:08 I certainly mean no slander, I mean no defamation.
16:14 At the same time, I have a serious concern.
16:18 And I, more than that, would do as the apostle Paul suggested
16:21 he wanted to do, stir up your pure minds.
16:25 Tonight, I'm going to have you go with me down
16:29 a trail of evidence.
16:30 And I need to be very honest to say to you that,
16:33 when a few weeks ago I began this study and preparation
16:35 for this talk, I had no idea that I would end up where
16:39 I have ended up, and where you're going to end up with me
16:42 in just a little bit.
16:45 I, as a result of my study, have a serious concern that I
16:48 want to share with every Christian person,
16:51 and non-Christians as well, who are willing to go down
16:55 this road with me.
16:57 Someone has said that birds of a feather...
17:01 ...flock together.
17:03 Someone has said that you're known by the...
17:06 ...company that you keep.
17:07 Someone has said that there can be guilt by...
17:11 ...association.
17:13 You know all of those trite phrases as well as I.
17:17 And so, as we conclude tonight, I'm going to allow you folks
17:21 to draw your own conclusions.
17:26 It was March, 22-23 of 1997, the Hale-Bopp comet was
17:31 coming closer to the earth than it had ever been,
17:33 at least in modern times.
17:35 There was a cult that had been formed together
17:37 a few months prior.
17:38 They became known as the Heaven's Gate cult.
17:40 Their leader was a former choir director of a
17:43 large church in Colorado.
17:45 There were 39 folks there together in
17:48 Rancho Santa Fe, California who we're going to go to the beyond.
17:53 They were going to go to be with those who had died and were
17:57 now in a spirit world.
17:59 They were going to be sucked up, they believed,
18:01 by the Hale-Bopp comet.
18:04 And so they shaved their heads and they put on
18:07 their escape robes.
18:10 Which, by the way, were all a deep purple.
18:14 And they said the color of this purple was the color
18:19 of those who had passed beyond the veil, the color of the dead.
18:24 Among those in this group, or cult as some have called them,
18:27 were 21 women and 18 men.
18:30 They had made notes, they had made videos,
18:33 and written good-bye letters.
18:35 In their pockets, each had a fresh 5 dollar bill,
18:38 and for some unknown reason still, a new packet of
18:42 lip balm or lip salve.
18:47 There was a full moon, there was a lunar eclipse,
18:50 when they together laid down upon cots
18:54 and took poison that killed every single one of them.
19:02 Open your Bibles, please, to Isaiah chapter 8.
19:09 Isaiah chapter 8, and I'm going to read for us
19:11 verses 19 and 20.
19:13 And these will be familiar verses to most of you, I'm sure.
19:16 But you'll not mind reviewing them for a moment with me.
19:20 It may be brand new for some others here tonight.
19:22 Isaiah chapter 8 verses 19 and 20.
19:28 "When they say unto you to seek to those that have
19:31 familiar spirits and wizards that peep and mutter,
19:34 should not the people seek unto their God instead of the dead?"
19:40 Huh?
19:43 "Wizards that peep and mutter," that's talking about
19:45 spirit mediums and channelers and everything that's
19:49 related to it.
19:51 "Don't go to folks like that to find out
19:54 about the dead," it says.
19:55 "Go to the God of the living. "
19:57 That's the idea.
19:58 And then it says in verse 20, and this verse
20:01 we know better still.
20:02 "To the law and to the testimony.
20:03 If they speak not according to this word, it is because
20:06 there is no light in them. "
20:08 If they claim to be speaking for someone beyond the grave,
20:11 beyond the veil, if they claim to be channeling from some
20:14 spirit of some departed person, then know that they're liars
20:18 and the devil is behind all of it, he is the
20:20 father of all lies, as we talked last night.
20:24 In 2 Corinthians chapter 11 verse 14,
20:28 there the apostle Paul said, "I saw Satan fall from heaven
20:32 as an angel of light. "
20:35 And there are so many of these associations now
20:38 that involve channelers and channeling and all of the
20:40 rest of it, that name themselves and refer to themselves
20:43 as "The Lighted Way" or "The White Light" or
20:46 "Follow the Light" or some such other notion.
20:50 Last night we read, and must again tonight, from
20:53 Genesis chapter 3, so please turn there with me right now
20:56 to the original lie.
20:58 By way of review, we're going to read again, the first 5 verses
21:01 of Genesis chapter 3.
21:05 This is the devil who has possessed the snake
21:08 and this is the first lie and the first impersonation,
21:12 and all of the rest.
21:13 Chapter 3 and verse 1 of Genesis.
21:16 "The serpent was more subtle than the other beast
21:18 of the field the Lord God had made and he said to the woman,
21:20 'Has God said you're not to eat from every tree in the garden?'
21:24 The woman said to the serpent, 'We may eat of the fruit
21:26 of the trees of the garden except for the fruit of the tree
21:28 in the middle of the garden.
21:29 God has said, 'Don't eat it, don't touch it, lest you die. '
21:33 And the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not die. '"
21:38 What he's saying is God is lying to you,
21:40 there's no such thing as death.
21:41 And the context really is quite clear.
21:43 Verse 5, "For God knows that in the day you eat that fruit,
21:48 your eyes will be opened and you will be Gods
21:50 knowing both good and evil. "
21:52 And there, ladies and gentlemen, is the bottom line
21:55 of the New Age movement.
21:57 There is no death, moreover don't look outside yourself
22:00 for God, just look inside.
22:02 As Shirley MacLaine said, "Line up your shockers and
22:05 recognize that you are God.
22:07 And when you do that, then there'll be nothing
22:10 you can't accomplish. "
22:11 There is nothing beyond you, you're God, you can create.
22:14 You are God, you are not going to die,
22:16 you're going to live forever.
22:17 And then, moreover, look around you.
22:19 And as you do that with the enlightened eye, you'll discover
22:23 that God is in everything.
22:24 He's in the tree, He's in the flower, He's in the shrubbery
22:27 He's in the sky, He's in the cloud, God is there.
22:29 You're God and God is there and everything is God.
22:32 Don't look beyond.
22:34 Then once you come to this place, you will develop
22:38 the attitude of positive thinking.
22:42 And by the way, let me say right now, I'm not in favor
22:46 of long faces and bad attitudes.
22:50 I don't want to hang around with folks like that.
22:54 And one thing that has kept me from going to the bars
22:57 is, so often times you go in the bar and there's some guy
22:59 up there nursing his wounds and crying, you know,
23:02 singing the blues and pouring them down.
23:06 Like that's going to help, huh.
23:08 Yeah.
23:09 Positive, set your mind to it.
23:11 You're God and there's nothing you can't create and there's
23:14 nothing that you can't do.
23:15 There's nothing that's beyond you now.
23:17 And Shirley MacLaine, of whom I spoke when I was here last
23:21 on this very subject, still is a very strong believer
23:24 and a strong promoter.
23:25 And I mentioned to you that not very many months ago,
23:28 I was lecturing just like this over near Olympia, Washington
23:32 and on one afternoon I drove out toward the Indian reservation
23:35 to see the restaurant there.
23:37 That was my mission, really.
23:39 And I drove by J. Z. Knight's place.
23:42 I was not able to see her home, they tell me it's most lovely
23:45 and most beautiful.
23:46 She has a great high fence that they say is electrified
23:50 at the top layers all around the thing.
23:52 And she had a sign on her gate that said, "No sessions today. "
23:56 I guess she was out of town, or someone said she may
24:00 well have been on the golf course.
24:02 J. Z. Knight says that she is the channel, and that's simply
24:06 a New Age word for a medium and a wizard that God through Isaiah
24:11 spoke about in the prior verses.
24:13 And she says, moreover, that there is an ancient Scottish
24:15 warrior who died 30,000 years ago who's spirit
24:18 speaks through her.
24:20 She puts herself into this induced trance and
24:23 she then soon begins to speak with a clear and Scottish brogue
24:28 the voice of the Scottish warrior, Ramtha.
24:31 Along with it has come humanism, the power within.
24:34 And once you recognize the power within, you begin to
24:38 look for self gratification.
24:40 And that brings us to hedonism, instant gratification.
24:45 And along with instant gratification, there has come
24:47 to those followers of it all, debt and theft and rape
24:51 and murder, and the excuse for it is,
24:53 "I'm God, there's no one above me.
24:55 There's no one to whom I one day give answer.
24:57 Don't worry about it, I'm God. "
25:00 And we mentioned last night that there are those hymns
25:03 even within the church, "Where the Soul Never Dies. "
25:06 If you believe that, really at the bottom line
25:09 you're saying, "I'm God. "
25:10 For God only hath immortality, as we made abundantly
25:13 clear last night.
25:14 Now I want to share some Bible verses with you
25:16 and you're going to have to quickly take some notes.
25:18 And if I misspeak...
25:19 I did last night, by the way, and I'm going to correct myself
25:22 right now, is that fair enough.
25:23 I'm like the old preacher that said, "Don't take me for what I
25:26 say but for what I mean. "
25:27 And last night as I was hurrying through some notes
25:30 and racing against the clock, I told you folks to write down
25:34 Job chapter 27 verse 30.
25:36 Now I have been around long enough to know
25:38 that there are not that many verses in the chapter.
25:40 And I suppose the "A" students went down through there
25:43 and discovered that, really, I was wanting to refer
25:46 to the third verse.
25:48 That as I looked quickly down at my notes, I saw an "O" or
25:51 something there, so I decided it must be 30.
25:57 You'll forgive me, won't you?
25:58 This one is Ezekiel 18 verse 4.
26:02 The soul never dies, the soul is released when one dies
26:05 and all of the rest.
26:06 Now listen to what God says.
26:08 Ezekiel 18 verse 4, "Behold, all souls are Mine;
26:12 the soul of the father, the soul of the son.
26:16 And the soul that sinneth, it shall die. "
26:21 How many of us have sinned?
26:22 How many?
26:23 You remember what Paul said in Romans 3 and verse 23?
26:26 "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. "
26:29 All.
26:30 Matthew chapter 10, Jesus at verse 28 is speaking
26:33 and He says, "Fear Him," and He's talking about
26:36 our enemy, the devil.
26:37 "Fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. "
26:43 Or in the grave.
26:44 In Psalm 22 and verse 29, here God through the psalmist says,
26:48 "All they that be fat upon the earth shall eat and worship,
26:52 and all they that go down into the dust shall bow before Him,
26:57 and none shall keep alive his own soul. "
27:02 This morning as we studied together in our question and
27:05 answer session, we learned that the word soul
27:09 has been used in the Bible to describe man's personality,
27:13 to describe man's breath, man's mental make-up,
27:17 but never something that could live and think and
27:20 emote outside and independently from a living body.
27:24 The idea of a living soul separate from a living body
27:26 is absolutely contrary to all of God's word.
27:30 Carl Jung lived from 1875 to 1961.
27:34 He was a Swiss psychiatrist.
27:35 He was born in Kesswil, Switzerland on July 25
27:39 of that same year.
27:41 His father was a very, very poor Protestant preacher.
27:45 Carl Jung received his medical degree from the
27:47 University of Basel in Switzerland.
27:50 He wrote a doctorial dissertation that he entitled,
27:53 now listen, this is his book, "Spiritualism and Occultism. "
27:56 And he based his findings upon his relationship
28:00 with a first cousin who was a spiritist medium
28:03 and through whom dead people spoke.
28:08 He talked a lot about word associations.
28:13 And he was the test originator of that same
28:15 psychological practice.
28:19 He wrote later in his life, "The Psychology of the Unconscious. "
28:22 That was in 1912.
28:25 He wrote also, "The Ancient Myth and Psychotic Fantasy. "
28:30 And by the way, I'm going to pause right here to say
28:32 to you folks; if you're not involved, be sure to warn
28:35 your kids and your grandkids and your great grandkids,
28:37 don't play fantasy role playing games.
28:41 Stay away from them.
28:42 Stay a long ways away from them.
28:48 Carl Jung died June 6, 1961 in Zurich, Switzerland.
28:54 Among his teachings were these.
28:56 All people, male and female, are bisexual.
29:00 And he wrote about the anima, a man's feminine side;
29:03 and the animus, a woman's masculine side.
29:05 And he said, it's necessary so that there is
29:08 balance among humanity.
29:09 And he further promoted the yin and the yang
29:12 that originated out in the East and in China.
29:15 And he said that evil is an absolute necessity
29:17 to balance good.
29:19 Does that sound like it's something from God?
29:21 I don't think so.
29:23 He was to have an influence on another man
29:26 by the name of Napoleon Hill.
29:29 And these influences are passed down, ladies and gentlemen.
29:31 You must stay with me in this chain of command, if you will.
29:35 Napoleon Hill was born in 1883 and lived until 1970.
29:40 He was born on Pound River in Wise County, Virginia.
29:43 I have been there, by the way.
29:45 Born in 1883 and died on November 9, 1970
29:50 in Greenville, South Carolina.
29:52 I'm going to read to you now the names of some of his books,
29:55 and they're going to begin to ring some bells.
29:58 He wrote first, "Grow Rich With Peace of Mind. "
30:02 Secondly he wrote, "Success Through a Positive
30:05 Mental Attitude. "
30:07 And thirdly, he wrote in 1937, a book that has now sold
30:12 multiplied millions, millions of copies,
30:15 "Think and Grow Rich. "
30:17 And he coined a phrase that's been repeated
30:20 a thousand or more times, I am sure.
30:23 You've probably heard it at least that many times.
30:25 "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe,
30:27 the mind can achieve. "
30:31 You're God.
30:32 Don't look outside yourself.
30:34 Our Lord Jesus, on the other hand said,
30:36 "Without Me, you can do very little. "
30:38 Isn't that right?
30:39 Huh, is that what He said in John chapter 15 verse 5?
30:42 "Without Me, you can do nothing.
30:44 Without Me, you can do no thing at all. "
30:48 And He said the same thing, really, about Himself
30:51 in John 5 and verse 30.
30:52 He said, "I can do nothing without My Father,
30:55 without the blessing of My Father. "
30:58 Napoleon Hill was the most beloved motivational author,
31:02 I suppose, of all time.
31:04 And I want to read you 2 or 3 of his ideas and quotations.
31:08 One among them, he said, "Cherish your dreams
31:11 and your visions.
31:16 Hold a picture of yourself in your mind's eye and you will be
31:20 drawn to that picture. "
31:22 "Moreover," he said, "I have proved many, many times
31:26 that every human brain is both a broadcasting and
31:29 receiving station for vibrations of thought frequency. "
31:34 "Furthermore," he said, "the sixth sense is the subconscious
31:37 referred to as the imagination.
31:40 Or if you'd prefer, the receiving set of the mind. "
31:45 He went on to say, "Through the aid of the sixth sense,
31:49 you'll be warned about coming dangers,
31:52 you'll be notified of opportunities.
31:54 The sixth sense really," he said, "is your guardian angel. "
32:02 Napoleon Hill had an influence on many who would
32:06 soon follow him.
32:07 Among those, W. Clement Stone.
32:11 And I'm not going to go into detail because he's so much like
32:13 Napoleon Hill and so near to him in time.
32:17 But I am going to mention some other disciples.
32:22 Born in 1821 and lived until 1910 was Mary Baker Eddy.
32:28 The originator of the Christian Science faith
32:31 and later, the Church of Christ Scientist.
32:36 The writer of the theology of spiritual healing
32:39 and author of the book, "The Power of Suggestion in Healing".
32:44 The originator of the Christian Science Monitor.
32:47 She died December 3, 1910.
32:51 Just before she died, she said, "I know now that all disease,
32:55 all disease is mental and none of it is physical. "
32:59 She taught what she called, "the metaphysical system
33:03 of Christian science. "
33:06 She, and those who preceded her, had a powerful influence
33:10 on a man by the name of Norman Vincent Peale.
33:14 And now we're coming down to modern time.
33:16 Before I read further, however, I want to share with you
33:19 a very brief sentence from one of the latest
33:22 US News World Report magazines.
33:25 There is a congressman, whom I need not name tonight,
33:29 who is going after certain ministers and televangelists
33:32 who are preaching what this man refers to as,
33:35 "the gospel of excess. "
33:37 And he talks about how they're promoting positive living
33:41 and positive thinking and, "you'll grow rich and if
33:44 you'll send me your offerings, you'll be blessed and
33:46 I'll be blessed and we'll all be blessed. "
33:48 And I'm going to stop right there
33:51 without reading any further names.
33:57 Say, here's something that I pulled from People magazine
34:00 and you, perhaps, ought to know this.
34:03 People magazine... I didn't write this.
34:07 It says, "Hillary Clinton has confessed to communicating
34:10 with Eleanor Roosevelt for spiritual guidance. "
34:15 Now, to the best of my remembrance,
34:18 Mrs. Roosevelt has been dead for a long, long time.
34:23 Norman Vincent Peale, born in 1898 and lived until 1993,
34:29 was born in Browerville, Ohio.
34:32 He was the son of a Methodist preacher.
34:34 He, himself, became an ordained Methodist pastor.
34:37 And in 1937, he founded the religio-psychiatric clinic.
34:44 He wrote a book entitled, "The Power of Positive Thinking"
34:48 in 1952 and he originated a little Christian magazine
34:52 known as "The Guide Post".
34:54 He died in Pawling, New York December 24, 1993.
34:58 Now this man, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale,
35:01 who had a congregation, New York City's cathedral,
35:04 of thousands and thousands and thousands of people,
35:07 said repeatedly that he had talked to his dead father
35:11 and that his dead mother had appeared to him in the
35:14 receiving line at the séance chamber on numerous occasions.
35:21 Moving down the chain of command, a lady by the name of
35:25 Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross.
35:29 Dr. Kubler-Ross was born on July 8, 1926.
35:34 She received her doctorate of medicine degree from the
35:37 University of Switzerland in 1957.
35:41 She was a doctor of psychiatry and received that degree
35:44 1963 at the University of Colorado.
35:47 She wrote her best known treatise, her book entitled,
35:52 "On Death and Dying" in 1969.
35:56 Before her own death, she had written 9 books.
35:59 She was granted 25 honorary doctor degrees from various
36:03 universities in the United States and elsewhere.
36:05 Moreover, she founded shortly before her death, Shanti Nilaya.
36:11 And the translation from that Indian phrase is,
36:14 "the final home of peace. "
36:19 She founded that in Escondido, California
36:21 if you go looking for it on the internet.
36:23 And she began to teach about dealing with
36:28 those that are dying and with the passage from this
36:32 life over to the next.
36:33 She went on, near the end of her life, to say,
36:36 "I am so attuned with death and dying that I can, at the
36:41 bedside of one dying, literally see the spirit or the soul
36:44 that leaves the body and goes to be with God. "
36:48 She wrote further a book that she entitled,
36:51 "The Life, Death, Transition".
36:54 And in that book, she says what all of the rest
36:56 of the mediums say, "There is no death.
36:59 It's only just a transition to another plane. "
37:03 She moved to Head Waters, Virginia in 1984.
37:08 And she said, from there she'd experienced many, many times
37:13 soul travel, astral projection, or out of body experiences.
37:17 She died on August 24, 2004 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
37:24 And now, we're going to transition again.
37:29 Among other disciples, a man by the name of Deepak Chopra
37:41 and a lovely young lady by the name of Oprah Winfrey.
37:49 Now again, please folks, I'm not sitting in judgment upon
37:53 anyone, by I want you to be aware of what's going on.
37:57 This is fresh from the internet and was sent to me
38:01 since I have been here, and I'm going to read to you.
38:06 Headline, "'Oprah and Friends to a Teach Course
38:09 on a New Age Christ. '
38:11 Oprah Winfrey will be letting out all of the stops on her
38:15 XM Satellite Radio program beginning January 1, 2008.
38:20 'Oprah and Friends' will offer a year long course in
38:23 New Age teachings, A Course in Miracles,
38:27 and we're going to use the workbook of the
38:29 Course in Miracles. "
38:31 And then dropping down and reading again.
38:34 "Teaching this Course in Miracles will be Oprah's
38:38 long time friend and special XM Satellite Radio reporter
38:42 Marianne Williamson, who also happens to be an author
38:46 and one of today's premier New Age leaders.
38:54 She and 'Conversations with God' co-author Neale Walsch
39:00 co-founded the American Renaissance Alliance in 1997
39:04 and the Global Renaissance Alliance a bit later. "
39:08 Going on, "This New Age Spirituality will be clearly
39:14 articulated in our Course of Miracles which is fast becoming
39:18 the New Age Bible.
39:19 Course of Miracle.
39:21 What does it teach and where did it originate?
39:27 "A Course in Miracles is a new revelation of Jesus Christ,"
39:30 I'm reading now.
39:32 "This 'Jesus', who bears no doctrinal resemblance
39:35 to the Bible's Christ, began delivering his channel teachings
39:39 in 1965 at Columbia University Medical Psychology school
39:45 to a lady by the name of Helen Schucman. "
39:48 I want you to remember that, if you will
39:49 because it's going to become more important
39:51 in just a little bit.
39:53 "A Course in Miracles," Helen Schucman.
40:01 This writer goes on, "I was introduced to
40:03 A Course in Miracles by Dr. Gerald Jampolsky's book,
40:07 'Love is Letting Go of Fear'.
40:10 Jampolsky has been featured, not only in New Age circles,
40:14 but he's, at least twice, been on Robert Shuller's
40:16 'Hour of Power'.
40:18 While Shuller introduced Jampolsky and his fabulous
40:21 '18 Course in Miracles' base book to his worldwide
40:24 television audience, it was really Marianne Williamson's
40:27 appearance on a 1992 Oprah show that really shook things
40:32 to the rafters. "
40:34 Oprah Winfrey
40:38 Helen Schucman
40:39 Marianne Williamson
40:43 Gerald Jampolsky
40:49 Gerald Jampolsky's book is a best seller still today,
40:52 ladies and gentlemen.
40:53 And he's still very much around.
40:55 His book is entitled, "Love is Letting Go of Fear".
40:59 That sounds good, it sounds really nice.
41:03 He wrote, "Love is Letting Go of Fear" and based his writings on
41:08 this book, "A Course in Miracles".
41:10 Now what is this book and who's behind it?
41:12 You have to do some careful research, ladies and gentlemen,
41:15 believe me, before you discover who's at the bottom of
41:18 this book that is behind Oprah's new outreach and
41:21 behind Gerald Jampolsky, and some others that we're going to
41:23 mention in just a moment.
41:25 Who's behind this course?
41:26 Who authored the "Course in Miracles"?
41:28 Well, the lady who's given most credit is this lady
41:31 Helen Schucman and an associate by the name
41:34 of Kenneth Wapnick.
41:36 In her book, Helen Schucman, "A Course in Miracles",
41:39 Helen Schucman, down near the back, is honest to say
41:42 that she got the information from a voice from beyond.
41:47 She went on to say, "I'm only just the shorthand secretary
41:50 of my spirit guide. "
41:52 She then further wrote a book entitled,
41:55 "Purpose, Process, and Practice".
41:57 And she said, "This book was dictated to me in the same way
42:01 by the same spirit guide. "
42:03 I want to go on record tonight by saying to you
42:06 that the book "Course in Miracles" is illogical,
42:09 it is non-theological, and it is irresponsible.
42:12 Moreover, I'll say that, to my mind at least,
42:15 and forgive me, I believe it's little more than psycho-babble.
42:20 The book teaches, again, you are the Creator.
42:23 That's on page 34.
42:24 It teaches that there will never be any judgment from God.
42:27 That's also from the same page.
42:28 It teaches that everybody will ultimately be looked upon
42:31 as his own creator, from the same book and the same page.
42:35 A very well respected medical doctor by the name of
42:38 Bernie S. Siegel MD, his book is entitled,
42:43 "Love, Medicine, and Miracles" and it has sold millions.
42:48 And the thing is so subtle, ladies and gentlemen,
42:50 the spiritism in it is so very, very subtle that it almost
42:56 grabs you, I mean, I myself found myself really enjoying
42:59 portions of it and saying, "amen, boy that's right. "
43:04 The Bible says, "If possible, there would be deceived
43:07 the very elect. "
43:09 And I have to pray God, for my own safety
43:12 when I delve into things like this.
43:14 But I feel the necessity of doing it to share with the world
43:17 because they're unaware of what's going on out there.
43:20 The devil has put on a suit and tie and moved into the church.
43:23 And preachers are not only at funerals teaching spiritism
43:25 and saying "they're not dead, they've gone to be with Jesus. "
43:27 I mean, this thing has big time moved into the Christian world.
43:31 And it's, to a large degree, taken control.
43:35 It's taken control.
43:36 And I'll make that abundantly clear in just a minute.
43:40 Bernie Siegel is a surgeon, but he had a specialty
43:44 in cancer surgery.
43:45 And he became so disgusted with the negative attitudes of
43:50 cancer patients, given them largely by their medical doctor,
43:52 given no hope, that he formed a little club that he called
43:57 "ECaP", which stands for
44:07 "Exceptional Cancer Patients".
44:11 In the biography, and again, you have to be a careful student
44:14 to come upon some of these things.
44:16 In his selected biography of his book,
44:19 "Love, Medicine, and Miracles", he promotes Helen Schucman
44:22 on page 238, the one who wrote her book by the spirit guide.
44:29 He promotes Robert Monroe who wrote,
44:32 "The Journey out of the Body".
44:33 He promotes Dr Raymond Moody, Jr. who wrote,
44:37 "Life After Death".
44:38 He promotes Dr Kubler-Ross on page 237, of whom
44:42 we've also spoken.
44:43 He promotes Dr Jampolsky, of whom we've
44:45 mentioned, on page 236.
44:47 And he promotes Carl Jung.
44:53 On pages 19 and 20, of Bernie Seigel's book,
44:57 "Love, Medicine, and Miracles".
44:59 And by the way, his philosophy, now, is being...
45:03 How many of you folks...
45:04 Let me back up a little bit and ask you a question.
45:05 How many of you folks have been impressed from time to time
45:08 about an ad on television that comes across from
45:12 some cancer institute?
45:13 Maybe it's on the east coast, maybe it's in California,
45:15 maybe it's over in Seattle.
45:16 And they say, "We give complete cancer care.
45:19 Not only just surgery, not only just chemo,
45:22 not only just nuclear medicine, but we will treat
45:25 your mind as well. "
45:27 Almost each of these cancer centers has borrowed
45:30 Dr. Bernie Seigel's philosophy and his teaching.
45:36 So be very, very careful when you send your loved one
45:38 away somewhere.
45:40 Do your research, will you please.
45:43 In his book, Dr. Seigel on pages 19 and 20 says, now I'm quoting,
45:47 "Through meditation, I met my own inner guide.
45:52 His name is George.
45:55 He's bearded and he has long hair.
45:59 He's a young man who wears an immaculate white gown
46:02 and a skull cap.
46:04 He's been my invaluable companion ever since
46:07 our first meeting. "
46:12 Page 218, 219 of Dr. Seigel's book.
46:17 He speaks about a patient relationship,
46:19 a doctor/patient relationship with a lady whose husband
46:24 had been his patient.
46:25 Her name was Janet.
46:28 "I told Janet that I did believe her dead husband's
46:32 spirit existed still.
46:33 Yes, indeed I do.
46:35 Moreover, my own dead grandmother has visited
46:38 my father, I know that. "
46:41 On page 219, he says, "A spirit medium speaks through me. "
46:49 And he's alluding to a speech that he gave.
46:52 He said, "When I sat down, I had no idea what I'd said.
46:57 And someone came to me and said to me,
46:59 'That was remarkable, that speech was miraculous.
47:02 Where did you get it?'
47:04 And then," he said, "it dawned upon me that I was only
47:06 a channel for George. "
47:11 On page 220, Dr. Seigel says, "I have received many, many
47:17 messages from patients of mine who have died and gone beyond. "
47:26 And now folks, I'm going to stop preaching and go to meddling.
47:31 And I know that I'm, with some, stepping on thin ice.
47:35 But at the same time, I beg your indulgence
47:39 and I don't mean to offend anybody, but I feel compelled
47:45 to go further with this and to take you to its final end.
47:49 And as I said at the outset, I had no idea that I would
47:52 end up here when I began this research a few weeks ago.
47:59 Someone not so very long ago asked me,
48:02 "Lyle, have you read The Purpose Driven Life?
48:09 Have you read, have you studied, have you used
48:11 The Purpose Driven Church?"
48:14 And my answer was, "No sir. I have not read it. "
48:18 I hadn't then.
48:21 I said, "Since Jesus came into my life, my life
48:24 has been purpose driven.
48:25 I've known where I come from, I've known why I'm here,
48:29 and I've known where I'm going.
48:34 And I have spent my ministry helping others
48:38 find purpose in Jesus Christ, and in Jesus Christ alone. "
48:48 The Purpose Driven Church, The Purpose Driven Life,
48:52 is filled, ladies and gentlemen, filled,
48:54 I believe, with thinly disguised thoughts and quotations
49:00 from a number of formerly mentioned people;
49:04 Carl Jung, Dr. Jampolsky, Dr. Bernie Seigel,
49:09 and I could go on and on.
49:12 And if you, in private, want more information, if you want
49:14 to do some further research, I can give you
49:16 plenty of direction.
49:18 The "feel good theology" is there in that book as well.
49:21 And you'll, by the way, find it, I believe, down at
49:23 Willow Creek in Chicago where so many pastors have gone
49:25 to try to learn how to plant and grow churches.
49:28 And I don't know why in the world we have to continue
49:30 sending preachers to Willow Creek in Chicago when the
49:33 blueprint is found in the book of Acts.
49:35 It's very plain there.
49:36 All we need to do is go there and follow the blueprint.
49:41 The book of Acts is the history of the first 30 years in
49:43 the Christian church.
49:44 And folks were so on fire for Jesus that they told everybody.
49:47 And at the time of the great revival of the
49:49 Methodist movement, a Baptist person wouldn't hire a
49:53 Methodist housekeeper, nor would a Catholic because
49:55 they knew good and well that the Methodist was so on fire
49:58 that he'd try to convert the other upstairs maid and the
50:02 downstairs maid and the housekeeper at the
50:05 middle level as well.
50:07 We don't need to go to Florida, and we don't need to go to
50:11 Chicago, and we don't need to go to California
50:14 because it's all right there in God's blueprint.
50:19 And it's time that we stop checking theology by preachers,
50:22 as I've said before, and start checking preachers by the Bible.
50:25 It's time we do that.
50:28 Feel good theology.
50:30 And I could mention some other names.
50:32 Joel Osteen
50:34 You hear the same thing, best seller.
50:36 They're selling his books now at the Costco and the
50:38 Wal-Mart and everywhere else.
50:39 And Dr. Shuller, whom we alluded to just a little bit before.
50:41 And I didn't realize until most recently, but John Hagee.
50:45 I tuned in to him just a few days ago at the
50:47 request of a friend.
50:48 He said, "I know where you're going with that message.
50:50 You better listen to this. "
50:51 And I heard the same thing.
50:52 "Trust God and send me your money, and God will bless you.
50:55 You'll prosper. "
50:57 And I'm going to go a step further to say that there have
50:59 been some from our own ranks who've fallen into this pit.
51:06 Called to preach the gospel, gifted with the ability
51:10 to spread the gospel and do the work of evangelist.
51:14 And trade it for a few bucks.
51:22 I've had my opportunities, and I'm not bragging.
51:29 I went, several years ago, to one of the largest television
51:32 studios in the United States.
51:34 It happened to be in Memphis, Tennessee.
51:38 The William Tanner agency.
51:40 There happened to be a young girl making a Coca-Cola jingle.
51:44 And someone said, "You better listen to this girl.
51:46 She's going to become somebody. "
51:47 And she did, her name was Janie Fricke.
51:51 And after I'd made my television spots, the producer came to me.
51:56 He said, "How would you like to make some serious money?"
51:58 He said, "The camera likes you.
52:01 You come across to the camera. "
52:03 And he said, "We could partner up and make
52:05 some serious money. "
52:07 And I said, "I don't care about serious money.
52:10 I want enough to pay my bills and to feed my kids,
52:12 but I know what I'm called to do.
52:16 And I wouldn't sell it out for anything. "
52:18 And I don't believe that God has called any preacher
52:22 to go around giving some kind of a power seminar,
52:25 think and grow rich.
52:28 And I've become convinced, I've studied this thing for
52:31 years and years, ladies and gentlemen.
52:32 As I've said before, I almost fell into the same trap.
52:36 I was terribly tempted to do it.
52:39 But God saved me from it.
52:40 But I have given it a lot of study over the last 30 years
52:44 and it has dawned upon me quite clearly that those who promote
52:47 this idea of "think and grow rich" are the ones
52:50 who do a little of the thinking and doing the getting rich.
52:54 Because you buy their tapes and you buy their books
52:57 and you pay them contracts to come in and talk to you.
53:00 They say, "Send me your money and God will bless you. "
53:02 And they're the ones who go home with a fat check.
53:11 "Purpose Driven Life" is so filled with dangerous
53:15 paraphrases of the Bible that are so easy to lead one into
53:20 a false area and into a false understanding of God's word.
53:25 In his book, Rick Warren promotes Aeronais
53:29 who was an early Catholic father who taught spiritism.
53:32 He promotes Madam Guyon who was a Catholic mystic.
53:35 He promotes Brother Lawrence who is really in reality
53:38 Nicholas Herman, a Catholic Carmelite who promoted
53:41 in the Catholic church praying through the dead Mary.
53:47 He promotes Anais Nin, an erotic writer, does Rick Warren.
53:52 He promotes Dietrich Bonhoeffer who was a religious humanist
53:56 and a mystic who rejected the fundamentals of the Bible
53:59 and rejected the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
54:01 He promotes Gary Thomas, the author of "Sacred Pathways"
54:06 and "Your Souls Path to God".
54:08 Thomas says and I'm quoting, "My inspiration is from my
54:12 spirit guide named Philemon who is the same one that gave
54:15 information to Carl Jung. "
54:18 Rick Warren, further, promotes Richard Foster,
54:20 a Quaker mystic who promoted Eastern meditation and
54:24 guided imagery and astral projection.
54:31 I'm here tonight to promote only one person
54:35 and that's Jesus Christ.
54:38 I'm here tonight to say to every one of you,
54:41 you check everybody out.
54:43 You check every preacher, you check out every new idea that
54:47 comes across your plate or comes to your mailbox.
54:51 You check everyone out carefully by God's word.
54:54 And then keep your eyes focused on Jesus Christ.
54:57 Don't you let your eyes go to this man or that man
55:00 or that man, for we're all with feet of clay.
55:04 And if you knew me like Peggy knows me, you'd throw
55:06 rocks at me as I leave the parking lot.
55:08 I promise you, you would.
55:09 You keep your eyes on Jesus and you'll never be disappointed.
55:14 Jesus, "And I, if I be lifted up, I'll draw all men to Me. "
55:18 Jesus, the way and the truth and the life.
55:20 Jesus is the vine, Jesus is the salt.
55:23 He's the light of the word, He's the resurrection and the life.
55:26 Jesus is our example.
55:28 The example of Jesus; think and grow rich?
55:30 Huh?
55:34 Born in a barn.
55:38 Positive attitude? Absolutely.
55:41 "I can do all things through Christ. "
55:45 "I and My Father are one. "
55:47 I can't do anything without Him, but with Him
55:49 all things are possible.
55:51 Jesus Christ; poor, born in a barn.
55:56 Jesus Christ, without a roof over His head
55:59 during His life and His ministry.
56:01 Jesus Christ, who at His death was so poor
56:04 He had to be buried in a borrowed grave.
56:08 Jesus is my example, and I'm not promoting poverty.
56:13 There's nothing wrong with having a few bucks
56:15 if it wouldn't ruin most of us.
56:17 And I really believe God would make us all rich
56:19 if it wouldn't destroy us spiritually.
56:22 I know what would happen to me, I know.
56:25 God keeps me hanging on the edge.
56:27 I think, "Well going to get everything.
56:28 We're going to be able to retire in just a few months. "
56:30 And then the bus motor falls apart and there's $23,000 gone.
56:34 And at the end of the month, there's always too much
56:38 more left over than money, as someone has tritely said.
56:41 And you wonder, "Boy, am I going to make it next month?"
56:44 And so you go to your knees.
56:46 That's why most of us aren't rich.
56:49 Because it would destroy our faith and we wouldn't need God.
56:54 Jesus will be my example.
56:55 And I want to say to all of you as I come to a
56:58 conclusion tonight; if you are honest
57:04 and if you have Jesus Christ,
57:07 you are both rich and successful
57:13 even if you've gone into bankruptcy.
57:16 Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
57:18 look full into His wonderful face,
57:22 and these things of earth will grow strangely dim
57:25 in the light of His glory and His grace.
57:29 Now let's pray.
57:31 Lord Jesus, You warned that in the last days,
57:35 the devil would become so cunning that if possible
57:37 he would deceive the very elect.
57:42 Long ago, we learned from Your word to stay away from
57:45 channelers and wizards that peep and mutter
57:48 and open spiritism and occultism, long ago.
57:54 The devil knows that the average Christian is not
57:56 going to be taken in by any of those subtleties,
57:58 and so he's become most wise.
58:01 He's put on the suit and tie and moved right in to the pew.
58:05 He speaks from ornate pulpits.
58:09 Save us, dear Lord.
58:12 Save us, if necessary, and likely it is,
58:16 from our own ignorance.
58:19 And we, tonight and tomorrow and always, will give You the
58:22 praise and the glory.
58:23 In Jesus' name, amen.
