A Cow. 13:20 What does the cow say? Moo. 13:24 And what are these here?. Umm ummbaaa. 13:26 Sheep. Baaa, baaa they went. 13:29 So he saw Spotted Cow, a Woolly Lamb, 13:33 and stalls that were empty. 13:35 In one stall, he tied Small Donkey. 13:40 In another he made a bed of straw for Mary and himself. 13:44 Soon they were fast asleep. 16:40 How could it be this baby in my arms? 16:49 Sleeping now so peacefully the Son of God 17:00 the angel said How could it be? 17:13 Lord, I know He's not my own 17:21 Not of my flesh, not of my bone 17:29 Still Father let this baby be the son of my love 17:46 Father show me where I fit into this plan of yours 17:54 How can a man be father to the Son of God? 18:02 Lord for all my life I've been a simple carpenter 18:11 How can I raise a king How can I raise a king? 18:19 He looks so small His face and hands so fair 18:27 And when He cries the sun it seems to disappear 18:35 But when He laughs it shines again how could it be? 18:52 Father show me where I fit into this plan of yours 19:00 How can a man be father to the Son of God? 19:09 Lord for all my life I've been a simple carpenter 19:18 How can I raise a king How can I raise a king? 19:26 How could it be this baby in my arms? 19:34 Sleeping now, so peacefully the Son of God 19:46 the angel said How could it be? 20:02 He said, during the night 20:04 the most wonderful thing happened, 20:07 Baby Jesus was born. 20:10 Joseph filled a manger with clean new hay. 20:12 Mary wrapped the baby in soft white cloth, 20:16 and laid Him in the manger. 20:18 The animals seemed pleased about Baby Jesus. 20:22 But Spotted Cow mooed softly, 20:24 and Woolly Lamb tinkled his bell, 20:26 and Small Donkey looked and looked. 20:30 Where is the camp? Here. 20:33 Yeah, come sit down and look at the camp. 20:37 Where is baby Jesus? Oh, right there. 20:40 Oh, right there, yes, yes. 20:43 That night, in a field near the little town, 20:46 shepherds were guarding their sheep. 20:49 Suddenly a bright light, as bright as the sun, 20:51 shone all around them. 20:53 The shepherds were afraid, they covered their faces. 20:58 The sheep were afraid and huddled together. 21:02 "Don't be afraid," said a kind gentle voice. 21:05 The shepherds uncovered their faces. 21:08 They saw an angel, all glowing with light. 21:10 Said the angel, "I bring you good tidings of great joy! 21:16 Jesus, your Savior, is born. 21:19 You will find Him lying in a manger." 21:21 Then the sky was filled with shining angels 21:24 singing the glory song, "Glory to God in the highest, 21:28 and on earth peace, good will toward men." 21:31 As the angels went farther and farther away, 21:36 they looked like a twinkling bright star 21:38 in the dark night sky above Bethlehem. 21:42 "Come," said the shepherds, "let us go see." 21:45 They ran all the way to the stable, 21:47 and there they found Joseph and Mary 21:50 and Baby Jesus in His manger bed. 22:10 It's still a mystery to me 22:18 That the hands of God could be so small 22:25 How tiny fingers reaching in the night 22:32 Were the very hands that measured the sky? 22:39 Hallelujah, hallelujah 22:47 Heaven's love reaching down to save the world 22:54 Hallelujah, hallelujah 23:01 Son of God, Servant King 23:05 You're here with us You're here with us 23:17 It's still a mystery to me 23:25 How His infant eyes have seen the dawn of time 23:32 How His ears have heard an angel's symphony 23:39 But still Mary had to rock her Savior to sleep 23:44 Hallelujah, hallelujah 23:52 Heaven's love reaching down to save the world 23:58 Hallelujah, hallelujah 24:06 Son of God, Servant King here with us 24:12 You're here with us You're here with us 24:26 Emmanuel, Emmanuel 24:41 Jesus the Christ, born in Bethlehem 24:48 A baby born to save, to save the souls of man 24:56 Hallelujah, hallelujah 25:03 Heaven's love reaching down to save the world 25:10 Hallelujah, hallelujah 25:18 Son of God, Servant King 25:21 You're here with us You're here with us 25:32 You're here with us 28:56 In a faraway country, Wise Men saw the angel star. 29:01 They said, "It is the star of the Baby King. 29:04 Let us go worship Him, and take Him presents." 29:07 Astronaut-- it looks like an astronaut 29:09 but it's actually not, but it does look like him. 29:13 Let us go worship Him, and take Him presents. 29:16 The Wise Men made ready their gifts. 29:18 One Wise Man filled a bag with gold. 29:21 Another filled a jar with frankincense 29:23 and perfume of flowers. 29:25 And another filled a special box with myrrh, 29:28 the perfume of spices. 29:30 The Wise Men gathered up their gifts. 29:32 What are these? Oh, camels. 29:34 Camels. They mounted their camels. 29:37 Camels eat-- camels eat cows? 29:41 Camels, no, camels don't eat cows. 29:43 They probably eat straw something like that. 29:46 They mounted their camels and rode toward the star. 29:49 They crossed rivers and hills and sandy deserts, 29:52 sometimes it was hot, sometimes it was cold, 29:56 but always they rode on, following the star. 30:00 Then one evening the star stopped above a house 30:03 in the little town of Bethlehem. 30:05 The Wise Men made their camels kneel in front of the house. 30:08 They climbed off the camel's humped back, 30:11 taking their gifts, and they knocked on the door. 30:15 Knock on the door. And knocked on the door. 30:17 And Joseph opened the door, 30:20 and there inside was Mary holding Baby Jesus. 30:23 The Wise Men bowed with their faces to the floor 30:26 and worshiped the baby they called King. 30:28 They gave Him their gifts, you see their gifts. 30:31 Bag of gold, the jar of frankincense 30:34 and a special box of myrrh. 30:37 Then the Wise Men said, good-bye. 30:39 Say good bye. Good bye. Good bye. 30:42 Mounted their camels, and began their long journey home. 31:09 I pray You'll be our eyes 31:15 And watch us where we go 31:22 And help us to be wise In times when we don't know 31:35 Let this be our prayer When we lose our way 31:49 Lead us to the place Guide us with your grace 31:55 To a place where we'll be safe 32:03 La luce che tu dai I pray we'll find your light 32:09 Nel cuore restera And hold it in our hearts 32:15 A ricordarci che When stars go out each night 32:21 L'eterna stella sei 32:27 Nella mia preghiera Let this be our prayer 32:34 Quanta fede ce When shadows fill our day 32:41 Lead us to a place Guide us with your grace 32:48 Give us faith so we'll be safe 32:55 Sognamo un mondo senza piu violenza 33:02 Un mondo di giustizia e di speranza 33:08 Ognuno dia la mano al suo vicino 33:16 Simbolo di pace, di fraternita 33:25 La forza che ci da We ask that life be kind 33:32 E il desiderio che And watch us from above 33:38 Ognuno trovi amor We hope each soul will find 33:44 Intorno e dentro se Another soul to love 33:50 Let this be our prayer Let this be our prayer 33:57 Just like every child Just like every child 34:05 Need to find a place Guide us with Your grace 34:11 Give us faith so we'll be safe 34:18 E la fede che Hai acceso in noi, 34:29 Sento che ci salvera 34:54 Thank you so much, Sarah and Jamie. 34:56 This is a delight to get together 34:58 with the community like this 34:59 and to just-- something about music. 35:03 It touches our hearts the way that nothing else really can't. 35:06 And it's a wonderful opportunity 35:08 to be able to get together with the community. 35:10 And just to have friends and neighbors 35:12 share their musical gifts, 35:15 and think about what this represents. 35:17 That about 2,016 years ago 35:20 God came to earth in the form of Jesus. 35:25 So that He could show us how to love each other, 35:28 show us about His Father's love. 35:30 And then ultimately give us the greatest gift, 35:32 hope of everlasting life. 35:34 I heard a story years ago 35:36 about a very wealthy man in New York City, 35:39 who is visiting one of his wealthy friends, 35:42 who had a parrot that he had bought down in South America 35:45 that was really a remarkable bird. 35:47 This parrot could say about a thousand words, 35:50 some of them in two languages. 35:52 Did about 40 different tricks on command 35:55 and could even sing little parts of opera. 35:58 Well this very wealthy stockbroker said, 36:00 you know, you got to let me buy your bird. 36:01 He said, I'm not selling my bird it's not for sale. 36:03 He said, you don't understand. 36:05 He said I have got a mother who lives in Texas. 36:08 She is alone, father died 36:11 and this would really thrill her. 36:14 She was very good to me, never had much education, 36:16 worked hard and here I'm successful. 36:19 I want to do something for her. 36:20 Let me buy your bird. He said, that's not for sale. 36:23 He said, I'll give you $10,000 for your bird. 36:26 He said, bird is not for sale. He said $50,000. 36:32 He said, all right, I'll sell you my bird. 36:36 So the wealthy stockbroker had a special carrier 36:39 to deliver the bird to his mother in Texas. 36:41 And he couldn't wait, he called her a couple days later. 36:44 And he said, mom, what do you think of the bird? 36:48 She said, son, I need to be honest. 36:50 It was a little tough but other than that it was delicious. 36:57 You know, few things are sadder than a wasted gift. 37:04 You know, I read recently that in America 37:07 the average home has $300 of unspent gift cards. 37:14 Now, I won't ask you for show hands, may be I will. 37:18 How many of you know that you've got 37:19 either a gift card or a refund that you have not turned in, 37:24 that you're just planning on doing some one of these days 37:28 and that's about 3-- 37:31 no, $30 billions in the homes right now. 37:37 And you know, retailers count on 37:39 about 7% of all gifts cards never get used. 37:42 They count on that. 37:44 That's really sad when you think about it. 37:46 Rebates, gifts cards, they just go unused, 37:48 it's like money that evaporates. 37:51 Something sad about wasted gift. 37:54 I've got a cousin, got married a few years back. 37:57 Very expensive wedding in a very expensive hotel, 38:02 hundreds of guests. 38:05 People flew in from around the country, 38:08 brought their gifts. 38:11 Four days after the wedding, maybe five days 38:13 they announced it, they said, 38:14 they really do not want to be married. 38:18 And I don't remember ever getting our gift back. 38:25 You know, I had a third grade teacher Mrs. Wayne Baum 38:29 and one day after I was behaving very unruly, 38:32 she took me aside after class and she said Doug-- 38:35 actually she called me Douglas. 38:38 She said, "I hate waste." 38:42 And I think you're wasting your life 38:44 because I was just clowning around all the time. 38:45 I know, you'll find that hard to believe. 38:48 But you know, she said, "You get one life." 38:51 And she said, "If you waste this opportunity to learn, 38:54 you're gonna waste your one chance to direct your life." 38:57 And you know, that was a first time it occurred to me, 38:59 how terrible it would be to waste the life. 39:04 You know, the Lord came into the world 39:06 to give us a chance to live forever. 39:09 And I remember one time when Jesus worked a miracle. 39:14 Bible tells us there were all these hungry people 39:17 and He took a few fish and a few loaves of bread. 39:19 And he performed a miracle and fed all these people, 39:22 but there were actually leftovers 39:24 when He got done feeding 5,000 people. 39:26 And Jesus said something interesting, 39:29 He said to the disciples, "Makes sure and gather up 39:32 all the scraps so that nothing is wasted." 39:36 Now, you have to ask yourself, 39:39 is Jesus that interested in fishy dinner scraps 39:44 and He wouldn't be interested in the creatures 39:47 that He made in His own image. 39:50 You know, the Lord paid an infinite price for us 39:53 to be able to live forever. 39:55 He gave the gift of His Son. He paid the ransom for our sin. 40:01 You're in California, some of you still remember 40:03 a number of years ago when Patty Hearst was kidnapped 40:07 and the Symbionese Liberation Army 40:11 asked for $10 million ransom. 40:13 They negotiate it down to $2 million 40:16 because they couldn't get that much together. 40:18 And after the ransom was paid, 40:20 she had kind of been brainwashed by the group 40:23 and she said, "I'd rather stay with my kidnappers." 40:27 Can you imagine what that did to her parents? 40:30 After they paid that ransom 40:32 to say I would rather stay in captivity? 40:35 You can't help but wonder 40:36 what our heavenly Father must think when He says, 40:38 "Look, I have given you the greatest gift 40:40 that has ever been given in time. 40:42 I'm giving you the gift of my own Son 40:45 that you might have new life." 40:47 Wouldn't it be a shame to waste that gift? 40:51 This time of year, the beautiful music that we're singing 40:54 and the songs that we're hearing is all relate to celebrate 40:57 and to honor that love of our Father that gave that gift. 41:02 And it just wouldn't be right, we have more music coming. 41:05 But I just wanted to pause for a moment. 41:07 And have us really think about what it all means. 41:10 It means that the Holy Spirit might be 41:12 talking to your heart right now and saying, 41:15 "I have given my life for you. Can you trust me with your life? 41:20 And I will do something wonderful." 41:21 Don't waste your life. 41:23 Don't waste the opportunity to live forever. 41:26 The only way is to accept the gift of His Son. 41:29 We are saved by grace through faith, it is the gift of God. 41:33 And that gift was called Jesus. 41:37 You know, I just like to pray with you. 41:39 Father, in heaven I trust that 41:42 through the music that we're hearing 41:44 and the words that are spoken 41:45 that Your Spirit is striving with the hearts of people here. 41:49 And some may be have heard about You. 41:51 But they've never really unwrapped the gift 41:54 of accepting Jesus into their lives. 41:56 And asking you to guide their lives 41:58 and transform their hearts. 42:01 I pray right now that in the quite of their soul, 42:04 they'll make that decision 42:05 and they can be different from this moment on. 42:08 We pray in Jesus' name, amen. 42:36 He shall feed His flock 42:45 He shall feed His flock like a shepherd 42:53 And He shall hold them in His arms close to His heart 43:05 In his arms He will hold them close to His heart 43:17 In his arms He will hold them Close to His heart 43:49 All we like sheep have gone astray 43:59 All we like sheep All we like sheep 44:08 have turned to our own way 44:13 We have turned to our own way turn to our own way 44:25 He shall feed His flock He shall feed His flock 44:35 Like a shepherd He shall gather the lambs with His arm 44:50 In His arms He will hold them close to His heart 45:01 In His arms He will hold them close to His heart 45:13 In His arms He will hold them close to His heart 46:17 A lowly stable stood beneath a lonely star 46:25 A rugged manger embraced God's almighty heart 46:33 He came into the world that did not understand 46:41 His only purpose was to save the fallen soul of man 46:49 Beneath His Father's heaven Beneath His Father's heaven 46:57 Hope was born one silent night Hope was born one silent night 47:05 Beneath His Father's heaven Beneath His Father's heaven 47:13 A baby brought the truth to light 47:20 A baby brought the truth to light 47:33 He came unto His own And they would not receive 47:41 But poor and sinful ones Gladly heard Him and believed 47:48 The word of God made flesh Full of truth and of grace 47:56 The glory of the Father Shining bright upon His face 48:04 Beneath His Father's heaven Beneath His Father's heaven 48:12 Hope was born one silent night Hope was born one silent night 48:20 Beneath His Father's heaven Beneath His Father's heaven 48:27 A baby brought the truth to light 48:35 A baby brought the truth to light 48:44 Beneath His Father's heaven Beneath His Father's heaven 48:52 Hope was born one silent night Hope was born one silent night 49:00 Beneath His Father's heaven Beneath His Father's heaven 49:07 A baby brought the truth to light 49:14 A baby brought the truth to light 49:23 Beneath His Father's heaven 49:31 A baby brought the truth to light 50:02 Watch this? An angel came back. 50:05 One dark night when Joseph was asleep 50:07 and Mary was asleep, and Baby Jesus was asleep, 50:11 the angel came back and whispered to Joseph. 50:13 "Get up quickly," he said. 50:16 "Take Mary and the Baby and runaway to Egypt. 50:19 The wicked king is trying to find the Baby to do Him harm. 50:23 Stay in Egypt until I tell you it is safe to return." 50:27 The king was angry because the people were saying that 50:29 some day Baby Jesus would be king. 50:33 So after he went, Joseph got up quickly. 50:36 He told Mary what the angel had said. 50:38 He went to the stable for Small Donkey, 50:41 wrapped Baby Jesus snug and warm. 50:44 Joseph helped Mary on Small Donkey's back. 50:47 He handed her Baby Jesus. 50:49 And then clip-clop, clip-clop, went Small Donkey's hooves 50:54 as they went out through Bethlehem's gate, 50:56 and turned down the road toward Egypt. 50:59 The wicked king couldn't find Baby Jesus now. 51:02 Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus, 51:07 and Small Donkey lived in Egypt a long time. 51:10 Where's, where's Jesus, 51:12 where is He in this picture? 51:14 Is that Him? Is He a big boy now? 51:18 He is a big boy now look. 51:21 Jesus learned to walk and to talk. 51:24 Then one night the angel again whispered to Joseph, 51:27 "The wicked king is dead. It is safe to go home." 51:31 So once more, Mary rode on Small Donkey's back, 51:35 but the Boy Jesus didn't ride all the way now. 51:38 Sometimes He walked and helped to lead Small Donkey. 51:42 They didn't go to Bethlehem where Jesus was born. 51:45 They went to Nazareth, Joseph and Mary's old home. 51:49 Joseph and Mary were glad to be back in their old home. 51:54 Small Donkey was glad to be back in his old stable. 51:57 Mary tucked the Boy Jesus into His own bed 52:01 and told Him good-night stories. 52:03 She told Him about Baby Moses and the basket boat. 52:06 You remember the story of Baby Moses. 52:08 Yes. Yes. 52:10 She's telling him about when the angels sang the glory song, 52:14 about the Wise Men following the star, 52:16 and worshiping the baby as their king. 52:21 See Jesus is having goodnight stories 52:24 just like you have good-night stories. 52:26 So, now we've finished our story. 52:29 Let's say a prayer. 52:31 Okay, let's put our book down and let's say a prayer. 52:36 We thank You Lord for being with us. 52:38 We thank You, we've been able to worship You. 52:41 And remember the wonderful story of the birth of the Savior. 52:45 Thank You so much may we always be thankful 52:48 and thank You for Jesus. 52:51 In His name we pray, amen.
