00:30 Revelation chapter 5, Revelation chapter 5...
00:34 we finished with Revelation Chapter 4, 00:36 we got a picture of the throne that's set in heaven, 00:39 which we identified as the end of the controversy... 00:42 at least in heaven over God's throne 00:43 His Justice... His Mercy, we have a picture of 24 elders 00:47 which we identified as the redeemed, 00:48 the multitude raised with Christ after His resurrection 00:51 they received the robes, 00:53 they're sitting on thrones, they have the crowns... 00:55 things that are promised to the churches that overcome, 00:58 to Smyrna, to Philadelphia, to Laodicea 01:01 and now we're going to understand why... 01:03 well, how did they get there? 01:05 Revelation 5... kind of layers over Revelation 4 01:09 kind of like Genesis 1... Genesis 2... 01:11 Revelation 5 gives us a fuller picture 01:13 of how all of this happened, 01:15 how did God's throne get established in heaven? 01:18 How has His justice and mercy been qualified by 01:21 all of the unfallen universe 01:23 so that they see that He is just and merciful, 01:25 How is it that these elders are redeemed? 01:27 Revelation 5 gives us the answer to that 01:29 so we're going to jump into that, have a word of prayer, 01:32 Yvonne, would you like to pray for us? 01:33 Yvonne: Sure, sure... "Father God, 01:35 once again, we come before you with open hearts 01:37 grateful for the privilege of studying your Word... 01:40 and grateful for your presence, 01:42 so we welcome you in this place, 01:44 we invite you to be with us and guide us and direct us 01:47 and thank you for my brothers here and my son, 01:50 help us Lord God to continue to move forward in your Word 01:54 to greater and deeper understanding, 01:56 in Jesus' name, amen. " All: "Amen... " 01:58 James: And then we're going to do our traditional thing 02:01 which is very, very good tradition and that is... 02:03 we're going to read through the Scriptures, 02:05 I'm looking to you Jason to start us off, 02:07 you can read about half of this, there's... there's 02:09 about... what...? fourteen texts here 02:13 and if you could read about seven of them 02:14 and then maybe, Yvonne, you can read the next seven, 02:16 we'll just go through them here. 02:18 Jason: "And I saw in the right hand of him 02:21 that sat on the throne a book written within 02:23 and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. 02:26 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, 02:30 Who is worthy to open the book, 02:32 and to loose the seals thereof? 02:34 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, 02:36 neither under the earth, was able to open the book, 02:39 neither to look thereon. 02:40 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy 02:45 to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 02:48 And one of the elders saith unto me, 02:50 Weep not: behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah, 02:53 the Root of David, hath prevailed 02:56 to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. 02:58 And I beheld, and lo, in the midst of the throne 03:02 and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, 03:06 stood a Lamb as it had been slain, 03:08 having seven horns and seven eyes, 03:10 which are the seven Spirits of God 03:12 sent forth unto all the earth. 03:14 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him 03:17 that sat upon the throne. " 03:19 Yvonne: "And when he had taken the book, 03:21 the four beasts and four and twenty elders 03:23 fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, 03:27 and golden vials full of odours, 03:29 which are the prayers of saints. 03:31 And they sung a new song, saying, 03:34 Thou art worthy to take the book, 03:37 and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, 03:40 and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood 03:43 out of every kindred, and tongue and people, and nation; 03:46 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: 03:50 and we shall reign on the earth. 03:52 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels 03:55 round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: 03:58 and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, 04:01 and thousands of thousands; 04:03 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb... " 04:06 oh yeah, oh... I love this... 04:08 "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, 04:12 and riches and wisdom, and strength, 04:14 and honour, and glory, and blessing. 04:17 And every creature which is in heaven, 04:19 and on earth, and under the earth, 04:21 and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, 04:25 heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, 04:28 and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, 04:31 and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. 04:34 And the four beasts said, Amen. 04:36 And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him 04:40 that liveth for ever and ever. " 04:42 James: What a beautiful picture. 04:44 Yvonne: Oh, worthy is the Lamb that was slain. 04:47 James: This... this has to be one of the most 04:49 glorious chapters in the entire Bible and it is rich, rich, rich 04:55 there is... we could break it into three sections, 04:58 there's... there is a problem that is exposed to John, 05:01 a problem... because there's a book that's sealed up 05:03 and can't be opened and it causes him to weep 05:05 and so... this is... this is the problem... 05:08 the dilemma that faces John and then the next section, 05:10 there is a solution to the dilemma, 05:12 the solution is brought forth, the Lamb is able... 05:16 and... and we see that solution 05:17 we see a response to the solution 05:19 and then we see in the third section 05:21 we see the overall response of the entire universe 05:24 to what the Lamb has been able to accomplish. 05:26 Yvonne: Ah... 05:28 Ivor: So John is weeping because 05:29 evidently these seals contained the future of humanity, 05:35 James: Yes... Yvonne: Hmmm... 05:36 and he sees that without this happening... humanity is doomed. 05:39 James: He sees it... in fact, let me just take you to 05:42 a verse in the Old Testament 05:43 because again, we want to emphasize that 05:45 a lot of the Book of Revelation is symbols that are broken open 05:50 in our understanding of the Bible itself, 05:52 so the terminology of the sealed book... 05:55 sealed on the inside and the outside... 05:57 sealed up so that no man can open it, 05:58 that terminology... and written... 06:00 is borrowed from the Old Testament, 06:02 there's a verse in Ezekiel chapter 2... 06:05 Ezekiel chapter 2 and we're going to look here at verse... 06:09 well, let's look at verses 9 and 10, 06:12 Ezekiel chapter 2, verses 9 and 10 06:16 and it says here, "And when I looked, 06:20 behold, an hand was sent unto me: and lo, 06:24 a roll of a book was therein;" 06:27 verse 10, "And he spread it before me; 06:30 and it was written within and without: 06:33 and there was written therein 06:36 lamentations, and mourning, and woe. " 06:39 Yvonne: Hmmm... 06:41 James: Okay, on the throne, there is a scroll, 06:45 it's sealed up with seven seals, 06:47 it has writings on the inside and on the outside, 06:49 and no man in heaven and no man on the earth, 06:51 and no man under the earth can take that scroll... that book... 06:54 and open it and break those seals, 06:56 and John begins to weep, why? 06:58 Because according to Ezekiel, 07:00 that scroll represents the history of the world. 07:04 Yvonne: Hmmm... 07:06 James: It's written on the inside and the outside because 07:08 it is complete... every decision, 07:10 every... every action... the history of nations, 07:14 is all contained in this roll, but it's sealed up... 07:17 in other words, our faith is sealed up, 07:19 the history of this earth could be summarized 07:23 in these words, Lamentation and weeping and woe. 07:27 In the New Testament, it could be summarized this way, 07:30 "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God, 07:34 and the wages of sin is death," that's the summation 07:37 of what's written in this roll, now, the Bible says, 07:41 "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof," 07:45 so that's why He has the scroll, 07:47 even though Satan is counter claiming this earth, 07:50 according to Job chapter 1, 07:51 he's saying, "No, the earth is mine... I've been too and fro, 07:53 I've been up and down, I've been checking it out... " 07:55 you know, when you buy something, you check it out, 07:56 especially if you're buying a used car, 07:58 or a piece of property, you check it out, 07:59 you go, "oh, check... " he's been checking... 08:01 he says, "The earth is mine... " God says, "No, no, no... 08:03 you haven't considered my servant Job... " 08:05 so... so there's this contention taking place, 08:07 that the scroll is sealed up, the destiny is sealed up, 08:11 no man in heaven... are there men in heaven? 08:14 Ivor: Hmmm... hmmm... 08:15 James: Outside of the 24 elders, are there men in heaven? 08:18 Ivor: No... 08:21 Yvonne: Well, you want to talk about... like, Elijah... 08:23 James: Yes, yes, yes... 08:24 Ivor: Yes, yes, yes, yes... I didn't understand the question 08:27 James: All right, the layperson corrects the theologian. 08:29 All: laughter... 08:32 James: How did Enoch get to heaven? 08:33 Yvonne: Translation... 08:34 James: Translation... without seeing death. 08:36 I mean, he had this close walk with God, right? 08:39 Jason: Wasn't he like... 300 and something years' old? 08:41 James: Yes... yeah... and... and... and... 08:43 he got married and he had a son and that changed his life... 08:46 changed his life... because I remember when my son was born, 08:49 I remember the feeling of love and protection... 08:53 the feelings that I had toward that little baby 08:58 when he was born... I couldn't even... 09:00 I couldn't even write it out, there was just these emotions 09:03 and these feelings that came out where I just... 09:05 and I saw God 09:07 in a completely different way than I had ever seen before, 09:09 if I loved this boy like this, 09:12 how much more does God love me, unconditionally... 09:16 it was just incredible, 09:17 Enoch had this walk with God that was so close 09:19 that one day... as they were walking and talking together, 09:22 God said, "Hey, Enoch, we're closer to my house 09:24 than we are to your house, 09:25 why don't you just come home with me?" 09:27 Yvonne: Hmmm... 09:28 James: Can Enoch open the scroll? 09:30 can Enoch change our destiny, 09:32 can Enoch change our destiny with death? 09:34 No, it doesn't matter how close you are with God, 09:36 it doesn't matter what our connections... 09:38 if we're... if we're getting ready to be translated... 09:40 but the world, the lamentation, the death... 09:42 that is our destiny and that's why John is weeping... 09:44 no man in heaven... no man in earth... 09:47 no man under the earth... 09:48 can alter that destiny with death 09:51 and as he is weeping, one of the elders comes to him 09:53 and the elder says, "Weep not... " 09:56 seven letters comprising two words 09:59 that bring us to the rest of the story, "Weep not... " 10:01 and then what? See that's the gospel... 10:03 "Weep not, dry your eyes... " and then what? 10:06 And by-the-way, it's the elder, it's one like him, 10:08 one who is redeemed, one you can relate, okay, 10:10 that's our job... and then the elder says, 10:13 "Behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah... " 10:16 and that is the secret... God isn't asking us to... 10:20 to overcome... He's not asking... 10:22 let me just clarify that, 10:24 He's not asking us to take the roll 10:26 and to change our destiny with death 10:28 and to do that which only the Lamb can do, 10:31 He's asking us to behold the Lamb... 10:33 now is it important for us to behold the Lamb? 10:36 It's vital... it's vital... it's the secret to success. 10:38 Yvonne: Man! that's some rich... this is rich... 10:42 I never even noticed that the... one of the elders 10:45 said it... "One like him... " I've read this a ton of times... 10:51 but never... it just never connected, 10:55 "One like him... " said, "Weep not... " 10:57 James: It's because we've identified the elders, 10:59 and once we've identified the elders, 11:01 then we realize... "Wow! they've got a part to play in this... 11:03 we've got a part to play in this... 11:04 we've got a part... they've got a part... " 11:06 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... James: The whole... 11:08 Ivor: They're... they're the down payment as it were, 11:09 you know, "Look, we're here, so, weep not 11:14 the reason we're here... is because of the Lamb 11:17 that was slain from the foundation of the world. " 11:19 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... hmmm... hmmm... 11:21 James: Behold the Lion of... so he's looking right? 11:23 He's looking for this Lion of the tribe of Judah, 11:25 he's looking around, this Lion of the tribe of Judah, 11:28 and what does he see? 11:30 He sees a Lamb as it had been slain... 11:36 and this is where the symbol of the Lamb is first introduced 11:39 and when it's introduced, 11:40 it's introduced in relation to being slain... 11:43 in other words, this symbol represents the cross or Calvary, 11:47 the Lamb slain is directing us to Christ crucified, 11:53 Christ crucified is now the central theme 11:56 of the Book of Revelation because we're going to see 11:59 this symbol of the Lamb repeated over and over again 12:01 throughout the Book of Revelation. 12:03 Whenever it says, "They followed the Lamb... 12:05 the Lamb's Book of Life... " it's talking about the cross, 12:07 it's talking about Calvary, it's talking about that focus... 12:09 that we... it needs to be central 12:11 with the Christian experience, "Behold the cross... 12:13 look to the cross... meditate on the cross... 12:15 spend a thoughtful hour a day meditating on the life of Christ 12:17 especially the closing scenes 12:19 because that is the key that is the secret. 12:22 Ivor: So, as we look at this particular verse, 12:25 it points us to a Lamb as it had been slain, 12:28 in other words... John is looking... he is seeing, 12:30 "this is Christ, after His resurrection... " 12:34 so here's what we can tell from this, 12:36 remember, we talked about... 12:37 this is the prelude to the seven seals, 12:39 remember we said, one through seven represents 12:42 a complete cycle of time, so the beginning... 12:45 the opening vision lets us know when do we start looking... 12:48 what time do we connect that first seal with 12:52 and when does it end, 12:54 so what we know is that the first seal, 12:56 must begin sometime shortly 12:59 after the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, 13:03 right, because the opening vision... 13:05 John sees Him as a Lamb that had been slain, 13:09 so now we know, 13:10 "Okay, well, whatever this first seal is, 13:12 it's going to have to be some time shortly after the death, 13:14 burial and resurrection of Christ... " 13:16 and what we can now double check that... right, 13:20 when we jump over to the churches 13:22 and we see... "Well look, the first church 13:24 is just after the death of Christ, 13:26 so the first seal is going to parallel the first church. " 13:31 James: Yes... Yvonne: Ah... 13:32 Ivor: So now we're checking in multiple ways. 13:35 Yvonne: Okay, we're doing time and location. 13:37 Ivor and James: Time and location. 13:38 James: And there is something else here too 13:40 in this verse, verse 6, it says, 13:42 "And I beheld, and lo, in the midst of the throne 13:47 and in the midst of the four beasts, 13:50 and in the midst of the elders, 13:51 stood a Lamb as it had been slain, 13:53 having seven horns and seven eyes, 13:54 which are the seven Spirits of God 13:56 sent forth into all the earth. " 13:57 Now, Ivor was just saying, "We have Calvary here... " 14:00 but also what we have... is... we have the Spirit of God 14:03 sent forth into all the earth, 14:04 in chapter 4, in verse 5, "And out of the throne 14:08 proceeded lightnings and thunders and voices: 14:12 and there were seven lamps of fire 14:14 burning before the throne, 14:15 which are the seven Spirits of God. " 14:17 In chapter 4 and verse 5, 14:19 the seven Spirits of God or the Holy Spirit... 14:21 that's what's being represented here, 14:23 is before the throne, 14:24 in chapter 5... it's sent forth into all the earth, 14:26 what makes the difference? Yvonne: Hmmm... 14:29 Jesus said, "I'm going to go to my Father," 14:31 this is after His resurrection. Yvonne: Right... 14:32 James: "and I'm going to send you a Comforter... " 14:34 actually He said it before His resurrection, 14:35 "I'm going to send you a Comforter... " 14:37 so, here is another confirmation of the timeframe, 14:40 this is showing us that this... 14:42 the timing of the opening of the first seals 14:45 is going to be in the Apostolic Age... 14:47 when Jesus ascends to the Father, 14:49 when His sacrifice on Calvary is accepted 14:51 and when the Holy Spirit is poured out. 14:54 Yvonne: Okay... Ivor: So we have Pentecost. 14:56 James: We have Pentecost... one more thing here 14:58 and I think it's really powerful, 14:59 I want us to go back here to verse 5, 15:01 there's a lot in verse 5 and let's just start unpacking it, 15:03 one of the elders... we noticed that that was connecting us 15:08 to people who had been redeemed, 15:10 said unto me, "Weep not... " gospel... 15:13 "behold, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah... " 15:15 this is how we experience the gospel... 15:16 by beholding Christ... "the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, 15:19 the Root of David has prevailed... " 15:21 James: Now let's just hang on that word for just a second 15:24 because that word... 15:26 traces all the way through the Book of Revelation, 15:28 it goes back to the churches and it goes forward, 15:31 and the word is NikaĆ³... it's the Greek word, 15:34 it's the same word that is used in the closing of every church 15:38 when it says, "to him that overcomes," 15:41 to him that overcomes... to him that overcomes. 15:42 Yvonne: So... He has overcome... 15:44 James: Yes! Jesus has prevailed where we have failed. 15:47 Yvonne: Oooo... I'm getting chills... 15:50 no man in heaven... no man in earth... 15:52 no man under the earth... can prevail 15:54 but Jesus has prevailed, so look to Him... 15:57 look to... you need to overcome... 15:59 you need to... every church... you need to overcome... 16:01 well, how do we overcome? 16:03 Well, let's get into the seals, let's get into our second 16:05 outline here, our second... snap snap... 16:10 the word I'm using... going back to Revelation... 16:12 Ivor: Our second Cycle? 16:17 James: Cycle... cycle... cycle, let's go into our second cycle 16:20 because the second cycle tells us how we overcome 16:22 and the third cycle tells us a little bit more 16:23 and the fourth cycle tells us a little bit more, 16:25 you see what I'm saying, in other words, 16:27 Revelation is not just a bunch of symbols, 16:29 pointing out history... past, present and future... 16:31 Revelation is pointing us to God... 16:32 to the Plan of Salvation, to how we overcome, 16:35 we do it by beholding Christ, 16:37 we connect with Him and we're going to see this even more 16:39 when the first horse comes out, 16:40 because that same word, "NikaĆ³" is used 16:42 in the first horse "going forth conquering and to conquer" 16:44 it's going to be huge right there, 16:46 but we're getting a clue now, 16:48 "you need to overcome, you need to overcome, 16:49 you need to overcome... " how do we overcome? 16:51 Not any man in heaven, not any man in earth, 16:53 not any man under the earth, 16:55 the way you overcome is by looking to the Lamb, 16:56 He's the one who has prevailed, where you have failed, 16:59 Yvonne: Ah... yeah... 17:00 James: Key principle, key truth that's being taught here. 17:03 Ivor: Yeah, so I want to point out something else here 17:06 same chapter... same verse rather... 17:09 verse 5... it says, "One of the elders said unto me, 17:12 Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, 17:15 the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book... " 17:19 so... so one of the things that we should do... 17:21 whenever we're studying the Scripture... 17:23 a term jumps out to you... 17:24 term that looks like... "Hmmm... what is that about?" 17:26 Always try to go back and see if we can find more information 17:30 on that term... and so... this "Root of David... " 17:33 that seems like a... 17:35 just kind of like a weird term to put in there, 17:37 right in the middle of this... "the Root of David... " 17:40 so what in the world is that talking about? 17:42 "The Root of David... " how is Jesus the Root of David? 17:44 Well, if you go back with me to the Book of Isaiah chapter 11 17:47 Isaiah chapter 11 and verse 1... 17:52 Isaiah 11 verse 1 actually makes that same mention 18:00 and here's what it says, Isaiah 11 verse 1... 18:05 we'll also go and look at verse 10... 18:06 it says, "And there shall come forth a rod 18:09 out of the stem of Jesse, 18:12 and a Branch shall grow out of his roots... " 18:15 okay... all right... so, wow, there is where that term is from 18:18 and let's look at verse 10, 18:20 "And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, 18:23 which shall stand for an end sign of the people; 18:26 to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious" 18:29 Yvonne: Hmmm... 18:30 Ivor: Okay, so this root of Jesse points us to 18:33 something else because now we want to know... 18:36 well, Stem of Jesse, we're like... 18:38 where does that story of Jesse and David come from 18:41 and actually it comes from the story of Ruth... 18:45 so let's go back to the Book of Ruth... 18:48 let's go over to Ruth chapter 4... 18:50 Ruth chapter 1 actually... and in the story of Ruth... 18:56 I'll try to summarize it but Ruth is married to... 19:01 I'm sorry... Naomi is married to a man by the name of Elimelech 19:06 and she has two sons and in this... in this story... 19:12 Elimelech dies... 19:16 James: You're having a hard time finding Ruth? 19:17 Yvonne: Yeah... I forgot where Ruth is... 19:19 James: Yeah... me too... 19:20 Ivor: Ruth is going to be right after Judges, yeah. 19:24 so, you've got the Book of Ruth, excuse me... 19:30 James: Oh, it's tucked away here between Judges and 1st Samuel. 19:34 Ivor: So, Naomi's husband, Elimelech dies... 19:40 her two sons who are married to Ruth and Orpah... also die, 19:49 so she has... she literally has no hope of a future, 19:54 okay, so remember that... she has no hope... 19:57 no offspring... James: no one can prevail... 19:59 Ivor: no one can prevail... 20:00 like, she is in a situation where she has no future... 20:03 and in Israel, everyone wanted to bear... 20:05 everyone wanted to bear a child because of the possibility 20:08 of the Messiah coming through... you know what I mean? 20:11 So, everyone was... you know... who...? 20:13 so bearing a child was of the utmost importance, 20:16 now, there was a Law in the Old Testament 20:17 that if a... if... you know... a widow who lost... 20:24 a woman who lost her husband had no one to... 20:28 she couldn't marry a stranger, 20:30 she had to marry someone who was nearest of kin 20:34 to carry on the line... to raise up seed 20:38 so that that person's name would not be cut off, 20:42 okay, so... the story is that Ruth decides... 20:45 Orpah says, "I'm going back to my home... " 20:48 Ruth who was a Moabite says, "I'm going to go with you... 20:51 your God is going to be my God... " 20:53 she takes on the God... so, check this out, 20:56 Ruth is a Gentile woman with a Hebrew mother-in-law, 21:00 she's a Gentile woman with a Hebrew mother-in-law, 21:04 well, in this story... they... 21:07 they return to their home in Bethlehem 21:09 and there's a man by the name of Boaz who comes upon the scene 21:13 Boaz happens to be the nearest of kin to Elimelech, 21:17 okay and... there's actually someone closer to him 21:21 but this person can redeem... 21:24 they were not only to redeem the woman 21:28 but also the land that came with that... 21:31 with that woman... okay, in other words, 21:35 you'll see here that 21:36 they were to take on the whole responsibility... 21:39 not just... they were to raise the seed... 21:41 they were to take her in, they were to... 21:42 anything that belonged to the nearest of kin became theirs... 21:46 from the person that had deceased became theirs. 21:48 Yvonne: They called it "the Kinsman Redeemer. " 21:50 Ivor: Exactly, the Kinsman Redeemer, 21:52 so, in this story... the nearest of kin is like... 21:54 "Nah... I don't want all that... I don't want to... 21:57 I got too much going on... " 21:59 so Boaz... look with me in Ruth chapter 4, 22:02 look at what Boaz does, in Ruth chapter 4... 22:04 and by-the-way that... that... that term, "nearest of kin" 22:10 it means, "Redeemer... " it means, "Redeemer" 22:13 what is Christ doing in Revelation chapter 5? 22:16 He's standing there to redeem humanity, 22:20 okay, so, let's look at Ruth chapter 4, 22:23 chapter 4 verse 1... 22:24 James: And He's become part of our kin... 22:27 He's become part of the root... Ivor: Absolutely. 22:29 James: He's the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, 22:30 King... but He's become the root of David. 22:32 Ivor: So, look at Ruth chapter 4 verse 1, "Then Boaz... 22:36 Then went Boaz up to the gate and sat him down there, 22:40 And behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; 22:43 unto whom he said, 22:45 Ho! such a one, turn aside, sit down here. 22:48 And he turned aside and sat down. 22:50 And he took ten men... " of the what? 22:52 "Elders of the city," so here you have Boaz... 22:56 he's calling together elders... 22:58 because he wants something to be very public. 23:00 He says, "Sit down here... " and they sat down, 23:02 and he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again 23:06 out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, 23:09 which was our brother Elimelech's: 23:10 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, 23:13 Buy it before the inhabitants, 23:15 and before the elders of my people. 23:18 If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it, 23:20 but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: 23:23 for there is none to redeem it beside thee; 23:25 and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it. " 23:28 So, first he's like... "Yeah, I'll take the land... " 23:30 but then Boaz says, 23:31 "What day thou buyest the field at the hand of Naomi, 23:34 you must also buy it also of Ruth the Moabites, 23:38 the wife of the dead, 23:39 to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance. " 23:42 You have to take Ruth as well... 23:44 "The kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, 23:46 lest I mar my own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; 23:50 for I cannot redeem it. " 23:52 So, Boaz ends up buying the... buying Ruth... redeeming Ruth... 23:57 and the land that came with her, 23:59 what is Jesus doing in Revelation chapter 5? 24:03 He is buying the woman... 24:06 James: And the title deed includes the land... 24:09 Ivor: Includes the land... 24:11 and the elders are there to witness this redemption. 24:16 Yvonne: Wow! "Ivor: In other words, 24:17 Boaz and Ruth" is a love story, 24:19 it's a romance, now, check this out, 24:23 out of this romance comes this lineage, 24:26 Obed, Jesse, David, 24:29 if this redemption did not happen, 24:33 Naomi would not have had offspring... 24:36 guess what's happening in our... 24:39 an offspring that would have led to Jesus, 24:42 so, now, here, Jesus stands... because of that transaction 24:45 and now He's saying, "It's my time to return the favor. " 24:48 Yvonne: Wow! 24:50 Ivor: Humanity has no future, 24:51 but I want to produce an offspring in this woman. 24:55 James: For Hebrews and for Gentiles. 24:57 Ivor: That's right... Yvonne: Wow! 24:58 Ivor: So, because of Him, he stands saying, 25:01 "I will redeem the woman and the man 25:03 and because of my redemption, 25:04 she is going to have a great offspring, 25:06 a great multitude which no man can number... " 25:11 and how are they born? 25:12 1st Peter tells us that we are born again by what? 25:17 The Word of God, 25:19 what is the first seal that goes out? 25:21 The Word of God... a rider on a white horse 25:24 which is described as the Word of God... 25:26 that rider on the white horse... the Word of God goes out 25:29 and begins to multiply seed of great multitude 25:34 so the story of the seven seals, 25:36 is the story of how God redeems the woman 25:39 and multiplies the seed that ends up with the 144,000 25:44 who were redeemed from the earth. 25:48 James: And you see that in verse five too, 25:50 it's a beautiful picture. Ivor: Absolutely. 25:51 James: We're... we're running out of time so we're not... 25:53 but we're going to come back and we're going to summarize this... 25:56 bring it all together 25:57 and then move in to the last part of the verses 25:59 because we don't want to... we don't want to rush this 26:02 this is rich... this is good stuff here... 26:05 Ivor: Think about this, Christ... in the seven churches, 26:08 stands as merciful 26:10 to His Bride, 26:12 "I'm going to be merciful to you, 26:14 please repent, I forgive you, just repent... repent... repent, 26:16 under the seven seals, He stands as Redeemer, 26:19 "I'm going to redeem you, I'm going to give you seed... " 26:22 everything is a love story, 26:25 it all plugs to what Christ is doing for His Bride. 26:28 James: He's drawing His bride, He's redeeming His bride 26:32 and then... seven trumpets, 26:33 He's going to be protecting His bride 26:35 and then in the seven salvation signs, 26:37 He's going to be moving His bride forward, 26:39 "Come on, let's go... let's go, let's go... 26:41 let's go... follow me... follow me... follow me... 26:43 follow me... 26:45 my people will be your people," 26:47 when I got married, my wife followed me... 26:49 up to the middle of nowhere... but she followed me. 26:51 So then, so then you read this again... 26:55 one of the elders came to me and said, 26:58 "Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David... " 27:01 okay, so what we're called to do 27:03 is just what Ivor will bring on... 27:05 "Behold the Root of David... , 27:06 go back and find out about the Root of David 27:08 and how that all came about and what that whole thing is" 27:11 because, it's going to bring this beautiful picture... 27:13 this beautiful romance into the Book of Revelation chapter 5. 27:16 Ivor: So he's saying, "Behold He has redeemed us," 27:18 right there in chapter five... "He has redeemed us... " 27:20 why can we celebrate? 27:21 Because we're going to have offspring, 27:22 much offspring, because we now have a husband. 27:25 James: Okay, questions are going to come in, 27:27 questions are going to come in in video form... at... 27:30 Yvonne: Yes, sss as in Salvation in Symbols and Signs, 27:33 @3abn. org 27:35 James: Jason, take us out with a prayer, would you please? 27:37 Jason: Sure... "Dear Heavenly Father, 27:40 we thank you for being with us once again 27:42 as we study the Word, as each part of prophecy unfolds 27:48 we're just grateful for you for revealing to us 27:52 what's to come and we're able to see 27:55 what is currently going on at the moment, 27:58 we ask that you continue to be with us 28:01 during our studies and be with the people at home 28:03 as they study and try and get an understanding of prophecy 28:07 and the love story that you have for us in Revelation, 28:11 please be with us as we depart, in Jesus' name we pray, amen. " 28:15 All: "Amen... " |
