00:03 Music...
00:30 James: We have arrived, kind of...
00:33 we've gotten half way through the book of Daniel
00:36 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6... there are 12 chapters...
00:38 we're in chapter 7.
00:39 Chapter 7... we're going to slow down a little bit here,
00:43 I'm thinking may... well, anyway, we don't know...
00:46 but it's going to... yeah, we'll see...
00:47 it's going to take us a while, well, we've got...
00:48 we've got some heavy stuff coming up,
00:50 just heavy stuff...
00:51 a lot of symbolism in here... a lot of meaning...
00:55 a lot of prophetic meaning...
00:56 we're going to get a lot of help from the image
00:58 which we've already studied,
01:00 so, that's going to be like... a little bit of a guiding light
01:03 as we move into chapter 7,
01:05 it's going to help us to navigate...
01:06 hmmm... what these symbols mean.
01:07 Also, we're going to get some angelic help.
01:10 Chapter 7 is one of those places where an angel steps in
01:14 and actually says, "Hey Daniel,
01:15 let me tell you a little bit about these symbols
01:16 and what they mean... "
01:18 and that's really cool when it happens.
01:20 Yvonne: Yeah...
01:21 James: So, good stuff right here let's dive in
01:23 with a word of prayer and then get started.
01:25 Who'd like to pray for us?
01:27 Yvonne: I'll pray, "Father, thank you so very much again
01:30 for bringing us together to... to study your Word
01:33 and to learn your plan, Lord,
01:35 we thank you that you've given us a plan
01:38 and so, we just pray that we will gain
01:41 and glean from Your Word
01:43 and that your Spirit will be with us...
01:45 guide us and direct us, we pray in Jesus' name, amen. "
01:48 All: Amen.
01:49 James: All right Jason, let's just jump right in here,
01:51 Daniel 7 verses 1 through 8, let's just take a chunk.
01:55 Jason: In the first year Belshazzar king of Babylon,
01:58 Daniel had a dream
02:00 and visions of his head while on his bed.
02:02 Then he wrote down the dream, telling the main facts.
02:06 Daniel spoke, saying, "I saw in my vision by night,
02:10 and behold, the four winds of heaven
02:12 were stirring up the Great Sea.
02:13 And four great beasts came up from the sea,
02:16 each different from the other.
02:18 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings.
02:21 I watched till its wings were plucked off;
02:24 and it was lifted up from the earth
02:26 and made to stand on two feet like a man,
02:28 and a man's heart was given to it.
02:31 And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear.
02:34 It was raised up on one side,
02:36 and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth.
02:40 And they said thus to it: 'Arise devour much flesh!'
02:43 After this, I looked, and there was another,
02:46 like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird.
02:50 The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.
02:54 After this I saw in the night visions,
02:57 and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible,
03:00 exceedingly strong.
03:01 It had huge iron teeth;
03:03 it was devouring, breaking in pieces,
03:06 and trampling the residue with its feet.
03:08 It was different from all the beasts that were before it,
03:11 and it had ten horns.
03:13 I was considering the horns, and there was another horn,
03:16 a little one, coming up among them,
03:19 before whom three of the first horns
03:22 were plucked out by the roots.
03:23 And there, in this horn, were eyes
03:26 like the eyes of a man,
03:28 and a mouth speaking pompous words. "
03:30 Yvonne: Hmmm...
03:31 James: Wow! so the first thing we notice about this
03:34 is it's highly symbolic
03:36 and Daniel is having this vision in the first year of Belshazzar,
03:40 now, we talked about this a little bit...
03:42 this takes us all the way back to about Daniel chapter 4,
03:44 because by Daniel chapter 5, Belshazzar is gone...
03:47 Babylon is gone...
03:48 so, this is the first year of Belshazzar,
03:50 so, this goes back to Daniel 4 which is kind of important
03:53 because it connects with an earlier vision
03:56 that was given to Nebuchadnezzar
03:57 and that vision was the vision of the image
04:00 that had a head of gold and went all the way down
04:03 in successive kingdoms
04:05 until we came to the stone that hit the image at the feet
04:08 and then filled the whole earth.
04:09 So, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome
04:13 were the four kingdoms of the image
04:15 and we started with the head of gold
04:17 and then we went to the... the chest of silver...
04:21 and then, we went to the thighs of brass
04:23 and then we went down to the feet of iron
04:25 and then the toes... iron and clay.
04:27 Ivor: Hmmm... hmmm...
04:28 James: The legs and feet of iron so, is this a similar vision?
04:32 Is this a symbolism of kingdoms?
04:36 Let's just take a look at a couple of verses
04:39 in the rest of the chapter,
04:41 we're just going to single them out,
04:43 this is where an angel comes to Daniel
04:44 to kind of help him with the interpretation.
04:46 Verse... Yvonne, could you read for us verse 17.
04:49 Yvonne: Oh, sure,
04:50 "Those great beasts, which are four,
04:53 are four kings which arise out of the earth. "
04:56 James: Okay, and then verse 23.
04:58 Yvonne: "Thus he said:
05:00 the fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth,
05:02 which shall be different from all other kingdoms,
05:05 and shall devour the whole earth,
05:07 trample it and break it in pieces. "
05:10 James: So, we're not actually here talking about
05:12 a lion with eagle's wings or a leopard with four heads
05:17 or a terrible beast, you know,
05:18 with these little horns coming out...
05:20 those are descriptive or symbolic of kingdoms...
05:23 earthly kingdoms...
05:25 kingdoms that arise out of the earth
05:26 and kings that conquer territory
05:29 and these kingdoms are symbolized in this way
05:32 because of the various characteristics that they have
05:36 in their dominion or in their conquering.
05:39 For example, one of the beasts is a leopard,
05:42 what are leopards known for?
05:45 speed... and it has four wings
05:47 so, that means it's going to be even...
05:49 there's going to be even more speed.
05:51 This leopard would represent...
05:53 if you follow the outline of Daniel chapter 2,
05:55 it would represent Greece
05:56 and Greece conquered the world very quickly... very rapidly.
06:01 I think Alexander the Great was in his early 30s when he died.
06:05 He had already conquered the world by his death.
06:08 So, so what we're looking at here is
06:10 these beasts represent kingdoms and kings
06:12 and the characteristics of the beast represent
06:15 the different characteristics of those kingdoms,
06:17 for example, the bear was lifted up on one side...
06:20 well, that's because the bear was a combination
06:23 of the Medes and the Persians
06:24 and the lifting up of one side means
06:26 that one side was a little stronger than the other.
06:29 The Persians became a little stronger than the Medes.
06:32 So, all of these characteristics
06:34 symbolize characteristics of the kingdoms that they represent.
06:37 Ivor: Remember what we discussed in previous programs...
06:41 in Daniel 2, you have the image of a man,
06:43 in Daniel 7, you have an image of...
06:44 you know, image of beasts...
06:47 and what God is showing in those combined visions is,
06:49 "Look, the kingdoms of men
06:51 have become beastly in nature" number one...
06:56 number two... a good memory devise you can use
07:00 to actually lock this vision into your mind
07:04 is the fact that we can do it like this...
07:07 Daniel 2 is the head of gold
07:09 but in Daniel 7 it's the lion with eagle's wings, right?
07:14 So I like to think of the golden lion... right?
07:17 Yvonne: Aaah... James: Got you.
07:19 Ivor: Or the silver... bear
07:23 or the brass... leopard
07:26 or the iron... non-descript beast...
07:29 dragon...
07:31 and what you, you know, when...
07:34 it was interesting when you read
07:37 I'm not sure, I think it was verse 19 where it said,
07:40 it will be a fourth kingdom.
07:42 The KJV says, "It shall be the fourth kingdom upon the earth"
07:47 so, that lets us know, "Well the fourth kingdom...
07:49 I already know who that is from Daniel 2
07:51 that would have been that iron kingdom... "
07:53 and then you look at this connection where...
07:56 you know it's so interesting...
07:57 this fourth beast has great iron teeth.
08:00 Yvonne: Yes.
08:01 Ivor: Oh, that reminds me of the iron legs
08:04 which was the fourth kingdom in Daniel chapter 2.
08:06 Yvonne: Right.
08:07 Ivor: And what does the beast... what does the...
08:09 what do the legs do in Daniel 2?
08:10 well, they broke in pieces... they broke and bruised.
08:14 What is the fourth beast doing in Daniel 7?
08:18 It breaks and bruises... it breaks in pieces
08:21 so, you see this connection.
08:23 Well, if the fourth beast of Daniel 2
08:25 matches the fourth beast of Daniel 7,
08:28 then, we know that the third beast
08:30 must be the same third kingdom in Daniel 2
08:32 and the second beast must be the same second kingdom in Daniel 2
08:36 and the first beast must be the same first kingdom in Daniel 2,
08:40 so, we're looking at this parallel...
08:41 and then we see, "Okay, well if the fourth kingdom
08:47 had ten toes... then, ah, I get this now,
08:53 the ten toes correspond with the ten horns of Daniel 7... "
08:58 and then we see,
09:00 "Well, what about this clay in Daniel 2?"
09:02 Because remember, the clay comes up
09:05 among the iron that's already there...
09:07 "Oh, this little horn...
09:11 little horn that we'll read about a little bit further on
09:14 as we continue on in chapter, parallels with that clay... "
09:18 and now, remember in Daniel 2,
09:21 we didn't see what the... what the clay and the iron did.
09:25 All we know is, "Hey, whatever this thing did...
09:28 we know there's a combination of Church and State...
09:30 that much we know but we're not sure what...
09:33 what it does that causes Jesus to say,
09:36 'Okay, enough is enough... '"
09:37 James: Hmmm... hmmm...
09:38 Ivor: Now in Daniel 7, we're going to begin to see...
09:40 "Wait a minute... whoa...
09:41 is that what the little horn is doing?"
09:43 And now we get a little more insight
09:45 into why Daniel chapter 12 verse 1 occurs...
09:50 why Michael stands up, yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:52 Yvonne: So, can you just go over that...
09:55 the golden lion... the silver bear...
09:58 Ivor: The bronze or brass... Leopard...
10:02 and then the iron...
10:04 James: Terrible beast. Ivor: Terrible beast.
10:06 James: It's described as a terrible beast.
10:07 Ivor: Yes, so we'll just use "terrible beast. "
10:09 James: It's a Biblical term... "terrible. "
10:12 Ivor: Yes, yes, terrible... and it means...
10:14 it actually means, like, "magnificent"
10:16 which is just like, "overwhelming"
10:18 I mean, kind of like when you saw the image
10:21 and it was terrible in Daniel 2...
10:22 it's overwhelming like, "Whoa, what is this?" right?
10:25 So... so the ten toes are going to parallel the ten horns
10:32 and the clay is going to parallel the Little Horn.
10:37 James: Hmmm... hmmm...
10:38 Ivor: So, all we're seeing here...
10:40 and this is an interesting way
10:42 to also think of the book of Daniel
10:44 as every chapter... all the prophetic chapters like,
10:47 truly prophetic chapters...
10:49 so, even though we've seen prophecy,
10:50 right... in all the chapters...
10:52 even the historical chapters,
10:54 the truly prophetic chapters, Daniel 2, 7, 8, 9 and 11 and 12
10:59 are going to follow this pattern
11:01 of what I like to call "nothing new"
11:03 only "more detail. "
11:04 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Repeat and enlarge...
11:06 Ivor: Repeat and enlarge... Yvonne: Okay.
11:07 Ivor: Daniel... if you have Daniel 2,
11:09 and that's the powerful thing about the book of Daniel...
11:11 once you have Daniel 2...
11:13 you have everything you need to understand the rest of the...
11:16 the rest of the prophetic chapters.
11:17 James: Yup. Yvonne: Hmmm...
11:18 Ivor: Because there is... Yvonne: Hmmm... including 11.
11:20 Ivor: Including 11... because there's really nothing new,
11:22 only more detail... and so, the details...
11:26 that's why Daniel 11 looks so... like, "What is Daniel...?"
11:29 Daniel 11 is just a detailed description of events
11:33 occurring in Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome
11:36 because we'll see that Babylon falls off the scene
11:39 in Daniel 11... so, we pick up with Medo-Persia,
11:42 and go through... and so, now I know...
11:44 "Okay, at least I know this about Daniel 11... "
11:47 all I'm looking at in Daniel 11 is history that unfolded
11:51 through Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome and this Little Horn.
11:56 Okay, wow... we just simplified Daniel 11
12:00 at least to some degree...
12:01 well, now I know, I'm not looking for, you know,
12:05 I know I've narrowed down what I'm looking for
12:08 and I'm looking for events that unfold within...
12:10 within the context... what we've seen in Daniel 2.
12:13 Yvonne: Right, right.
12:14 James: Nothing new... just more for you.
12:17 Ivor: Yup... All: Laughter.
12:18 Yvonne: I like that.
12:20 James: All right, let's keep reading then,
12:21 because even though we may not have recovered
12:23 all the details in here,
12:24 as we keep reading,
12:26 we're going to see this whole thing connects together
12:27 so, a lot of what we're going to read still
12:29 is going to repeat some of what we've already read...
12:31 though there's going to be some new feathers in here
12:33 so, so let's read now verses 9 through 14.
12:37 Jason: "I watched till thrones were put in place,
12:42 and the Ancient of Days was seated;
12:45 His garment was white as snow,
12:46 and the hair of His head was like pure wool.
12:49 His throne was a fiery flame, it's wheels a burning fire;
12:53 a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him.
12:58 A thousand thousands ministered to Him.
13:01 Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
13:04 The court was seated, and the books were opened.
13:07 I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words
13:11 which the horn was speaking;
13:12 I watched till the beast was slain,
13:14 and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame.
13:17 As for the rest of the beasts,
13:20 they had their dominion taken away,
13:21 yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
13:25 I was watching in the night visions,
13:27 and behold, One like the Son of Man,
13:29 coming with the clouds of heaven!
13:31 He came to the Ancient of Days,
13:33 and they brought Him near before Him.
13:35 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
13:40 that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
13:44 His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
13:46 which shall not pass away,
13:48 and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed. "
13:51 James: Okay, so, a little bit more information here,
13:55 we've got now this continuation that takes place
13:58 where it comes into the place of God's presence.
14:00 You've got thrones, verse 9,
14:02 that are cast down or set up...
14:04 the Ancient of Days sits
14:06 and you've got a judgment taking place
14:07 and this judgment take place
14:10 in the presence of 1,000s and 10,000s of His angels...
14:13 books are opened... records are looked at...
14:16 an investigation is made into record books
14:19 and specifically the words which this little horn spoke
14:24 is being considered and judged
14:27 and this little horn is going to be slain...
14:29 the beast... the fourth beast that carries this Little Horn
14:32 is going to be slain
14:33 and his body is going to be destroyed
14:35 and given to the burning flames.
14:36 So, the way this reads so far... it's consecutive,
14:39 we're going from one king to the next
14:41 all the way through to the judgment
14:42 and finally that fourth kingdom is... is... is judged
14:46 through the books that are opened
14:48 and a sentence is pronounced and it's executed.
14:52 Now, then Daniel goes back and in the next verse and he says,
14:55 "And concerning the rest of the beasts... "
14:57 because they haven't been dealt with yet...
14:59 just this last one has...
15:00 "Concerning the rest of the beasts... "
15:02 here's a really interesting verse,
15:04 "Their dominion was taken away:
15:06 yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time. "
15:09 Ivor: Hmmm...
15:11 James: Now, I'd just kind of open that up a little bit,
15:14 what does that mean?
15:15 And what is happening right here is...
15:18 we're going to find that the judgment that comes
15:20 on the fourth beast
15:21 is really inclusive of all the others
15:24 because the life being prolonged...
15:27 Dominion is like their military might... like their control...
15:29 we know that Babylon gave that up to the Medo-Persians
15:33 who gave it up to the Grecians
15:35 who gave it up to the Romans
15:36 who give it up to the Little Horn Power
15:38 but the life of a nation is basically... its...
15:42 its customs... its traditions...
15:45 its culture... its religion...
15:49 even its material wealth
15:50 and so, what this is saying basically is,
15:52 when it says, "Their lives were prolonged... "
15:54 it's the customs... the traditions...
15:56 the culture... of these previous nations
15:59 continues to live on into the next one...
16:02 and on into the next one...
16:04 and we see that even in the life of Daniel
16:06 because Daniel served Babylon
16:07 and then he lived on into Medo-Persia.
16:09 So, you've got customs
16:10 and so, when the Bible uses Babylon
16:13 in a spiritual sense in the book of Revelation...
16:16 at the end of time... Babylon... why Babylon?
16:19 Babylon passed from the scene a long time ago,
16:21 "Oh... but its culture... its customs...
16:24 its traditions...
16:25 its life is prolonged for a season and a time... "
16:28 so, when the final fourth kingdom is brought down,
16:31 Babylon comes down.
16:32 Babylon is fallen... that's the extent...
16:35 it doesn't have dominion but its life has been extended
16:38 and we talked in the last program about Medo-Persia
16:41 and this thing where they pass a law...
16:43 it can't be changed...
16:45 that's part of the custom of Medo-Persia,
16:47 it's been passed on... you see that?
16:48 So, when we get to Revelation 13,
16:50 we have a beast that comes out of the sea
16:51 and it has feet like a bear...
16:53 Ivor: Parts of it... remnants of it.
16:55 James: Yeah. Ivor: It's not the whole thing.
16:57 James: It's not the whole thing. Yvonne: Ahhh...
16:58 It has a mouth like a lion... it has a body like a leopard...
17:01 the customs... the traditions...
17:03 the lives are prolonged for a season and a time
17:05 so, when this last piece comes down... they all come down.
17:08 When the feet come down, the whole statue comes down.
17:10 Ivor: Yeah, that's what I was going to point out
17:12 because it says they were destroyed together
17:14 so, you think, "Wait a minute,
17:16 Babylon fell... thousands of years ago
17:21 and Medo-Persia...
17:22 how is it that when the stone comes,
17:23 it destroys the image... everything together... "
17:27 right, even though it strikes the feet
17:29 everything is destroyed together
17:30 and that's because each of these principles
17:33 from these different kingdoms live on
17:36 and culminate in that final power
17:38 that is going to attack God's people at the end of time.
17:41 Yvonne: Hmmm... Ivor: Yeah.
17:43 James: So, we're looking at these last two verses here
17:45 in verses 13 and 14,
17:48 we see the Son of man coming...
17:50 the Son of man...
17:52 you know the job of the Preacher
17:55 and we're all preachers right here at this table...
17:57 we're preaching to each other
17:59 but we're all preaching.
18:00 the job of the preacher is to get across country to Calvary
18:04 as fast as possible
18:06 and so, here we are... we're there.
18:08 we're where the Son of man is and what we find here
18:11 is... is ultimately Jesus Christ has earned the right to reclaim
18:18 this planet as His.
18:19 Ultimately He's going to be given the kingdom and the glory
18:23 and the power and honor of this earth.
18:25 All those kingdoms are going to come down
18:28 and so, the stone hits the feet
18:29 and grinds it and brings down the whole image,
18:32 it grows and it fills the whole earth
18:34 and that stone... that "rock" is Jesus.
18:36 Yvonne: Yes... yes.
18:37 James: It is Jesus Christ.
18:38 Yvonne: So for those who...
18:40 there are some people who say that
18:42 the Father and the Son are the same person
18:45 it's all one...
18:47 but this shows the Ancient of days was seated
18:50 and it describes Him
18:51 and then it talks about the Son of man
18:54 so, it shows that, "No, they're not one and the same
18:58 they're two different beings... "
19:01 and it's so interesting to hear...
19:04 I can't wait to just see Jesus' face...
19:07 you know, just to see His face
19:09 and see His eyes and all that.
19:10 This describes the Father, the Ancient of days...
19:14 this is the Father, is it not? Okay...
19:17 so, this is describing the Father
19:20 and yet, because God is a Spirit
19:24 I know this is kind of off but you know,
19:27 we get to ask anything...
19:29 so, because He's a spirit,
19:31 is He contained with one place with head and eyes and...
19:38 or... the Bible does say,
19:40 "For the eyes of the Lord searched out the whole earth"
19:42 you know, so, He does have eyes
19:45 but what I'm saying is, does He have a form?
19:48 Does the Father who is a spirit... does He have a form?
19:52 James: I believe He does.
19:54 Yvonne: This is saying basically that He does.
19:56 He has a garment on... He has hair...
20:00 so, this is kind of giving us insight into...
20:04 kind of what the Father...
20:06 I mean, I guess He can present Himself any way He wants to
20:09 and in this case, He's presenting Himself with a form.
20:12 James: And He does the same thing in Revelation.
20:15 Revelation chapter 4... John sees a throne...
20:18 not only that but he sees someone sitting on the throne...
20:20 His form was like...
20:21 and he sees someone sitting at His right hand
20:24 and then... Jesus talks about, "When I come back,
20:26 I'm going to sit at the right hand of power... "
20:29 and... and He talks about His Father
20:31 and... "If you've seen Me, you've seen the Father"
20:34 so, you know the devils are spirits but they have forms...
20:37 Yvonne: Hmmm...
20:38 James: There are ministering spirits we are told
20:40 with the form so, yeah, they have a form
20:42 but beyond that, we just have to tread lightly...
20:46 like, we're not exactly sure what exactly God... the form is
20:50 or... you know what I'm saying?
20:52 So, definitely, we have to...
20:53 we have to back up a little bit there
20:55 but for sure... there's a form
20:57 and for sure there are two different persons
20:58 even though they are one in their character, et cetera,
21:01 et cetera, they're still two different persons.
21:03 Yvonne: Yes, that's good, thank you.
21:06 James: So, okay, so so far we have this...
21:10 this Revelation that takes us through consecutively
21:15 all the way to the judgment
21:16 and then we have dominion given to Jesus Christ
21:19 Who has reclaimed this earth and finally will be handed to Him
21:23 and then we come out of the vision,
21:25 Daniel... in verse 15... he says,
21:27 "I was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my visions... "
21:29 excuse me... and "I was grieved in my spirit
21:33 in the midst of my body,
21:34 and the visions of my head troubled me. "
21:37 Ever experience that anyone?
21:39 when you're reading Daniel or Revelation
21:41 when you're just like trying to figure this all out...
21:43 right...
21:44 Jason: Yeah.
21:46 James: Well, welcome to the Daniel Club...
21:47 it's like, "Wow, I just couldn't figure this out,
21:50 this was troubling... "
21:52 and so, what happens when you get troubled
21:54 about Biblical truth,
21:55 "And I came near unto one of them that stood by
21:58 and asked them the truth of all this,
22:00 so, he told me and he made me and he made me know
22:01 the interpretation of the things. "
22:02 See, God is in the business...
22:04 we don't have to rely upon ourselves...
22:06 Yvonne: Right.
22:07 James: We're not in this alone. Yvonne: That's right.
22:08 James: God has blessed His Word... He sent His Word
22:10 and He's ready to help us understand His Word
22:12 and this is exactly what happens when Daniel is troubled,
22:15 and it's not just about prophecy...
22:17 it's not just about Biblical knowledge,
22:19 God wants to help us with whatever troubles us.
22:21 Whenever we have trouble about something,
22:23 we just need to go near to those that are standing by,
22:27 what does that mean?
22:28 Well, Jesus says that my angels in heaven do always watch over
22:32 those little ones... that's us...
22:34 each one of us has an angel that watches over us
22:36 and we can go to God any time...
22:38 we can tell Him our troubles... our burdens... our sorrows...
22:40 nothing escapes His notice
22:42 and there's nothing He's not interested in helping us with
22:44 so, whatever troubles us, we just need to take it to God,
22:47 take it to God, take it to God. Yvonne: Yeah.
22:48 James: At this particular time
22:50 it was prophecy that was troubling Daniel
22:51 so, he's like, "I got to figure this out. "
22:53 Yvonne: Yeah... yeah.
22:54 Ivor: When we learn to trust God
22:55 in the little times of trouble...
22:57 Yvonne: Oh, come on... come on.
23:00 Ivor: We understand what it means...
23:02 we gain that experience to learn to trust in...
23:05 in the Daniel 12 times of trouble.
23:07 Ivor: Right? James: "Such as never was. "
23:09 Ivor: "Such as never was... " absolutely,
23:11 that's that Job experience,
23:13 now... and that's what we see happening at the time of the end
23:18 there's an experience such as never was
23:20 and unless we have been walking
23:23 in the way that Daniel has walked,
23:25 unless we have been learning to trust God in the little trials,
23:28 unless we've been learning to overcome in the little things
23:31 it's going to be an overwhelming time
23:35 you know, in that time of trouble
23:39 and if Daniel's relationship was uncertain with God,
23:43 like, at any time...
23:45 just... just imagine, if you're thinking like...
23:48 "You know, man,
23:49 I'm really struggling in my relationship now,
23:51 and I doubt God now...
23:53 what do you do when the heat really gets turned up?"
23:57 Yvonne: Yes.
23:58 Ivor: You don't typically get stronger
24:02 when the heat gets turned up if you've been flailing along,
24:06 when the heat turns up,
24:07 that's when you're super overwhelmed,
24:09 like, "Yeah, I just can't...
24:10 if I couldn't handle this thing... "
24:12 if you can't hang with the footmen, right?
24:15 How are you going to do in the time of horses?
24:19 James: Jeremiah 12:5. Ivor: Yeah.
24:20 Yvonne: Yeah.
24:22 Ivor: So, are we...
24:24 we should probably get into...
24:26 we should probably save it for the next program
24:28 to actually go back and get into the details of the...
24:32 the wings of the... of...
24:34 James: The ribs... Yvonne: That's good.
24:36 James: We don't have to save, we can start now.
24:38 Ivor: It's up to you, yeah, I'll follow your lead.
24:40 James: So, so right here, Daniel is asking...
24:43 just finishing this idea of help...
24:46 Daniel is asking... and then this angel...
24:49 heavenly being of some kind comes...
24:51 and we read the verse, verse 17,
24:53 "These great beasts, which are four,
24:55 are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
24:57 But the saints of the Most High shall take the kingdom,
25:00 and possess it... the kingdom forever,
25:02 even forever and ever. "
25:03 And then, Daniel says,
25:05 "I want to know more about the fourth beast... "
25:06 and we're going to stop right here
25:08 and we're going to go back,
25:09 with the instruction of the angel,
25:11 we're going to go back
25:12 and we're going to say, "Okay, now we know
25:13 that these beasts represent kingdoms... "
25:15 all right, go back to the first one...
25:18 this beast... what are the characteristics of this kingdom?
25:20 Okay, so, it's really interesting when you look at
25:24 the correlation here... the parallel...
25:28 when you look at this beast a lion with eagle's wings,
25:31 that was a symbol of Babylon.
25:34 Yvonne: Hmmm...
25:36 James: When you think about
25:37 the idea of beasts representing kingdoms,
25:40 it's not really a foreign idea to us,
25:42 for example,
25:44 the United States of America is symbolized by a...
25:47 Yvonne: Eagle. James: An Eagle.
25:49 James: China.
25:50 Yvonne: Oh, I don't know China.
25:52 Jason: I don't know that one.
25:54 Ivor: Oh yeah, China is the... you know...
25:58 James: Russia... Ivor: Russia is the bear.
26:01 James: Russia is the bear... English...
26:04 Ivor: England is the...
26:07 James: I got a quiz for... England is the lion, right?
26:11 England is a lion. Ivor: England is the lion.
26:13 James: And China is... a dragon.
26:15 Ivor: That's right. Yvonne: Oh, wow!
26:17 James: See, it's not a foreign thing...
26:18 it's not a foreign thing is what I'm saying,
26:20 I mean, Canada is a maple leaf but...
26:23 All: Laughter.
26:24 James: A lot of these countries are represented by animals.
26:28 Yvonne: That's true.
26:29 James: So, God is speaking in a language right here,
26:30 He's communicating the way that we're communicating...
26:32 even we can relate to it even today,
26:34 so, when you go back to history and you look at the remnants
26:37 of destroyed Babylon...
26:39 the gate, for example, of Babylon
26:40 is still in the museum in Russia
26:42 and you look at the symbols that they used...
26:44 a lion with eagle's wings was a symbol of the nation of Babylon.
26:48 Yvonne: Hmmm... that's interesting.
26:51 James: So, for Daniel to read this, he's not...
26:53 this isn't really super mystery to him,
26:55 you know what I mean? Yvonne: Yeah.
26:56 James: Since we're told these are nations, like,
26:58 "Oh, so that must be Babylon"
26:59 because that's what they used to use...
27:00 that's what they... that's their symbol right there.
27:02 Yvonne: Hmmm...
27:03 James: What about the bear lifted up on one side
27:06 with three... well, let's stop right there
27:08 we're running out of time, aren't we?
27:10 Did you have a thought?
27:11 Ivor: Well, I was going to add that the fact
27:12 that the wings were plucked...
27:14 you know, wings cause you to fly...
27:15 cause you to elevate...
27:17 the fact that the wings are plucked
27:18 signifies the fall of Babylon.
27:19 Yvonne: Oh... hmmm... hmmm...
27:21 Ivor: You rise... wings are plucked
27:23 if your wings are plucked in mid-air, you're going to fall.
27:25 James: You're going to fall. Ivor: Yeah.
27:26 James: And if your wings are plucked when you're flying,
27:28 you're going to fall hard.
27:30 It was a hard fall.
27:31 Okay, we are running out of time so we can stop right there,
27:35 we'll pick up with Medo-Persia as we come back into this,
27:39 we'll talk about the bear...
27:40 talk about lifting up one side
27:41 and it has three ribs in its mouth.
27:43 Yvonne: Hmmm...
27:44 James: It's warming up. All: Laughter.
27:46 James: All right good... good stopping place.
