00:31 James: Praise the Lord, we are back in Daniel 00:34 but this time, we're moving to chapter 9 00:37 and because we are riding on the high 00:39 of what we've just discovered... not only in Daniel chapter 8 00:41 but also through the whole book of Daniel... 00:44 the X... Y... and Z... is all about Jesus 00:47 the Son of Man... 00:49 the One who is the Prince that delivers us... 00:52 that mediates for us 00:53 and that is going to blot out our sins... 00:56 not just put us in remission 00:58 but He's going to completely make us whole... 01:00 He's going to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 01:02 Yvonne: Amen. 01:04 James: So, we're going to begin chapter 9 with a fresh start 01:06 in a sense... and we should do that, 01:08 first of all with a word of prayer 01:10 but we want to remember that Daniel 9 01:12 is connected to Daniel 8... 01:13 we've left verses 13 and 14 on the table... 01:16 the 2300-day prophecy... 01:17 Daniel 9... we're going to see... 01:19 is going to be the key to unlock Daniel 8 01:22 and the 2300-day prophecy. 01:24 So, Jason, would you like to start us out 01:26 with a word of prayer and then we'll jump right in. 01:27 Jason: Absolutely... 01:29 "Dear heavenly Father, 01:30 we thank You for the time that we have 01:32 to study Your Word. 01:33 Lord, help us to internalize what we learn today 01:37 and also follow You very closely and Lord, I just ask 01:43 that You would be with the Viewers as well... 01:44 and help them to make a decision for You 01:46 if they haven't done so yet, in Jesus' name we pray, amen. " 01:49 James: Amen... amen... Ivor: Amen. 01:51 James: So, Daniel 9, Ivor, is an amazing chapter. 01:54 How do we approach this chapter 01:56 because there's so much here. 01:58 Ivor: Yeah, um, you know, what I have... 02:04 in my experience... when people look at Daniel 9, 02:07 they... they separated... Number one... 02:10 from the rest of the book of Daniel 02:12 so they kind of jump in kind of cold turkey 02:16 and then try to interpret it 02:17 not understanding the context of the whole book of Daniel. 02:21 James: Hmmm... hmmm... 02:22 Ivor: Okay, that's Number one 02:24 but Number two to a greater degree, 02:27 people look at Daniel 9 02:31 and they fail to understand the context of Daniel 9 02:37 in light of the entire history of Israel. 02:40 James: Okay. 02:41 Ivor: So, what we want to do is... before we get to Daniel 9, 02:45 we want to set Daniel 9 up 02:48 by going through the history of the whole Old Testament. 02:52 James: Okay... how long is that going to take? 02:54 Ivor: That's going to take us maybe... 02:57 maybe five minutes... maybe ten. 02:59 James: Wow! All right, we're ready... 03:01 fasten seatbelts guys. Yvonne: I know. 03:03 Ivor: Fasten your seatbelts, okay. 03:05 So, here's what we're going to do, 03:07 we're going to first understand that 03:09 the Bible tells us in the book of Genesis 03:11 that God created the heavens and the earth 03:14 and that He created the Garden of Eden 03:17 and if you look at the description 03:19 of the Garden of Eden, you know, 03:22 it was a land that, you know, had a river flowing through it, 03:26 it was a land that was a fruitful land. 03:29 Now, I'm just going to pause right there for a second. 03:32 That should ring bells for us... 03:35 that should automatically ring bells for us... 03:38 a fruitful land... 03:40 a land, you know, with a river flowing through it... 03:43 sounds like Paradise. 03:44 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 03:46 Ivor: Right? Yvonne: Yes. 03:47 Ivor: Which is what it was... 03:49 we know that Adam and Eve sinned 03:51 and God has to put Adam and Eve out of Paradise 03:56 but in that... in that act, 03:59 He gives them this promise in Genesis 3:15, 04:02 and it is... He is introducing to us 04:07 the Promised Man... that's Jesus. 04:10 James: Amen. Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... 04:14 Ivor: In Genesis chapter 12, 04:15 we get a little bit further down in history... 04:17 in Genesis chapter 12, we see Him calling Abraham 04:21 and what He gives to Abraham is a new promise, 04:24 this time, it's of a Promised Land. 04:27 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm. 04:31 Ivor: This Promised Land... and we see throughout time... 04:34 throughout the book of Exodus, 04:37 is going to be a land flowing with milk and honey, right? 04:41 I want you to get the picture here. 04:42 God's ideal is to bring man into this Promised Land 04:50 that would be a type of the heavenly kingdom. 04:54 James: Okay. Yvonne: Hmmm... 04:57 Ivor: Right? This is... this is like an illustration 05:00 of the plan of salvation. 05:01 How do we get from Paradise lost to Paradise restored? 05:05 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 05:07 Ivor: Okay, so God calls the children of Israel out of Egypt, 05:12 they're in captivity 400 years, calls them out of Egypt 05:15 and He's telling them, 05:17 "I'm going to bring you into the Promised Land... " 05:22 and He begins to describe all the beautiful things 05:26 about this Promised Land 05:27 and He says certain things like... 05:29 He gives these lists of blessings. 05:31 The land will increase in fruit... 05:32 He tells them, "You won't get sick in the land. " 05:36 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 05:38 Ivor: Right? I mean, what does this sound like to you? 05:41 Yvonne: Heaven. James: Heaven. 05:43 Ivor: Sounds like heaven. James: Hmmm... hmmm... 05:45 Ivor: The Promised Land... 05:47 Man! this is a land that is flowing with milk and honey 05:49 that says, "I won't put any of the diseases of Egypt upon you" 05:52 you know, "Your land will be fruitful... 05:55 you will be fruitful... 05:56 your enemies will flee from you... 05:58 I'll give you peace... rest... " 05:59 and all these things, right? 06:00 James: Hmmm... hmmm... 06:02 Ivor: But He gives them these promises on condition. 06:04 James: Hmmm. Yvonne: Hmmm. 06:05 Ivor: "If you obey me, 06:08 you're going to realize the Promised Land. " 06:11 James: Yeah. 06:13 Ivor: "If you disobey Me... " 06:15 then He lists out these curses in Deuteronomy 28. 06:19 James: Yeah. Ivor: Right? Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... 06:21 Ivor: They're also listed out in... in the book of Leviticus, 06:23 I believe it's chapter 23 or 26... 06:27 23... and so, I want you to get this, 06:31 right now, the Promised Land... 06:33 the Promised Man... 06:35 and the Temple... in Exodus 20... 25... 06:39 He gives them a sanctuary... 06:41 He gives... He's telling them of this Promised Land 06:44 and we already are expecting the Promised Man. 06:48 Now, the Promised Man is unconditional. 06:54 James: Okay. 06:56 Ivor: The Promised Land is conditional. 06:59 James: Okay. 07:00 Ivor: Right, the Promised Man is coming one way or another, 07:04 the Promised Land... 07:06 there's blessings and there's curses. 07:09 "If you obey, this is what will happen... 07:12 if you disobey, this is what will happen... " 07:15 and I want you to just notice part of the curses here. 07:17 In Leviticus 26... James: 26... 26... 07:22 Ivor: 26... right, verse 14... 07:25 "But if you will not harken unto me, 07:27 and will not do all these commandments... 07:28 I will do this unto you; 07:30 I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, 07:33 and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes... " 07:35 I'm going to read on, verse 17, 07:37 "I will set my face against you, 07:38 and ye shall be slain before your enemies: 07:40 and he that hateth you shall reign over you... " 07:42 verse 22, "I will also send wild beasts... s... s... s... s. " 07:47 James: Hmmm... 07:48 Ivor: We're going to stop right there for a second. 07:50 Yvonne: Oh... ho... ho... 07:51 James: Like bears and lions and leopards, you mean? 07:53 Ivor: Bears and Lions... and... and Leopards, right? 07:55 Yvonne: Wow! 07:56 Ivor: I will send wild beasts among you 07:59 which shall rob you of your children. 08:01 Are you catching the significance 08:03 of Daniel 9 right now? 08:04 James: Yeah, Eunuch. Yvonne: Oh... wow! 08:07 Ivor: We haven't even opened Daniel 9 up yet... 08:08 James: Daniel was a Eunuch. 08:10 Yvonne: Yeah. James: He was a Eunuch. 08:12 Ivor: And all of a sudden, watch this, verse 25, 08:14 "I will bring a sword upon you, 08:15 that shall avenge the corn of my covenant: 08:18 and when you are gathered together within your cities, 08:20 I will send pestilence among you; 08:22 and you shall be delivered in the hand of your enemy. " 08:24 James: Hmmm... Ivor: Verse 31, 08:26 "I will make your cities waste, 08:28 and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, 08:30 and I will not smell the savor of your sweet odours. 08:34 And I will bring the land into desolation: 08:37 your enemies shall dwell therein... 08:39 your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. " 08:42 Now, watch verse 33, 08:44 "I will scatter you among the heathen... 08:47 will draw out a sword after you: 08:49 and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. 08:52 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, 08:56 as long as it lieth desolate, 09:00 and you be in your enemies' land: 09:02 even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. " 09:07 Now, if... if you understand... 09:11 you already see Daniel in this prophecy in Leviticus. 09:17 James: Hmmm... hmmm... he's there. 09:19 Ivor: But check this out... check this out guys, 09:23 in verse 40, God gives a "forgiveness clause" 09:26 here's what He says, 09:28 "If they shall confess their iniquity, 09:31 and the iniquity of their fathers... " 09:33 ah ha... ha... ha... I've got to stop. 09:36 James: Hmmm... Corporate... Corporate. 09:38 Ivor: "if they confess their iniquity, 09:40 and the iniquity of their fathers, 09:42 with their trespasses 09:43 which they trespassed against me, 09:45 and that also they have walked contrary to me; 09:48 and that I also walked contrary unto them, 09:51 and have brought them into the land of their enemies; 09:54 if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, 09:57 and then they accept the punishment of their iniquity: 09:59 then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, 10:03 and also my covenant with Isaac, 10:05 and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; 10:07 and I will remember the land. " 10:09 James: Hmmm... hmmm. Yvonne: Hmmm. 10:11 Ivor: Okay, they get into the Promised Land 10:15 and praise God, they obey the Lord Jesus 10:19 and none of this happens. 10:21 Yvonne: Laughing. 10:23 James: Ah ha... what book are you in? 10:25 Let's get back into the Bible, can we? 10:27 All: Laughter. 10:29 Ivor: What... what happens? 10:32 James: Everything is fulfilled just as it's outlined 10:36 in Leviticus... everything is right on target. 10:40 God is a God of His word 10:42 and God keeps His word 10:43 in relationship to the promises for obedience 10:46 and the punishments for disobedience. 10:48 Ivor: He is basically laying out two possible futures for Israel. 10:53 James: To choose. 10:55 Ivor: You can choose. James: Yeah. 10:57 Ivor: In fact, James, 10:58 you remember that when they get into the Promised Land, 11:01 He has six of the tribes go on Mount Ebal 11:03 and six of the tribes on Mount Gerizim 11:06 and the blessings are placed on Gerizim 11:09 and the curses on Ebal 11:10 and He's saying, "Look, choose which one you want... 11:12 which future do you want?" 11:14 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Ivor: Okay... 11:17 they choose the curses... what happens? 11:20 Wild beasts enter Eden. 11:24 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm. 11:26 Ivor: The Promised Land... 11:27 James: The Promised Land flowing with milk and honey, wow! 11:29 Ivor: The land flowing with milk... 11:31 they never realized this miracle land that is supposed to happen. 11:35 They end up among the lions in Babylon. 11:40 When we get to Daniel 9, let's just go... 11:45 let me do this... 11:47 we're going to read Daniel 9 now and James... 11:50 you can go ahead and... and you can just build on this. 11:52 James: I want to build on this, yeah, go ahead. 11:57 Ivor: What happens at the end... because Daniel prays 12:01 from verse one to verse 23. 12:03 James: Hmmm... hmmm... 12:04 Ivor: What happens in verse 24? 12:07 James: Ooooh... Ivor: Ooooh... 12:10 James: There is... Yvonne: Laughing. 12:12 Ivor: What is the time prophecy? 12:15 What are the numbers in this time prophecy? 12:17 Yvonne: 70 weeks. 12:19 Ivor: 70... what is a week? 12:22 James: A week equal 7 years. Ivor: Or 7 days. 12:27 James: Hmmm... hmmm... 12:28 Ivor: Yeah, so seventy times seven... 12:32 why is that number significant? 12:36 James: Because Jesus... go ahead. 12:38 Jason: Is it the forgiveness... 12:41 James: Yes... yeah, Jesus points to it in... in Matthew 18... 12:46 Jason: How many times must I forgive? 12:47 James: Yes... and... 12:50 and He's pointing not to a specific number, 12:52 He's pointing to the longsuffering of God... 12:54 the willingness of God to forgive and remit the punishment 12:58 and to recover us from that punishment. 13:00 You know, Ivor, I want to pick up with this... 13:03 Jason, please read for us this first verse 13:06 and start with the first verse. 13:07 Jason: Okay, "In the first year of Darius 13:10 the son of... " how do you say that? 13:13 "Ahasuerus, of the lineage of the Medes, 13:17 who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans... " 13:19 James: Okay, I want to stop right there 13:21 because, Ivor, you just mentioned something about 13:23 all these promises and one of the promises was 13:25 that they would be the head and not the tail, right? 13:28 They'd be the head and not the tail 13:29 so, in the first year of Darius, Daniel is praying. 13:33 Daniel is praying for understanding 13:36 but he's going to pray a prayer that was just outlined for us 13:40 by Ivor in relation to Leviticus chapter 26 and verse 40, 13:43 he's going to pray a prayer of forgiveness. 13:45 He's going to ask God not just for himself 13:47 but for his fathers... it's a corporate prayer 13:49 and we'll get into that in more detail 13:50 and part of the promise was 13:51 that they would be the head and not the tail. 13:53 Now, I want you to slip back, we just read this... 13:55 in the first year of... what? Who? 13:56 Jason: Darius. 13:58 James: Now, I want you to slip back just a couple of pages 13:59 to chapter 6... Daniel chapter 6... 14:02 you there? Daniel chapter 6, 14:04 okay, now read... read again... read that first verse, Jason. 14:08 Jason: "It pleased Darius... " James: Who? 14:11 Jason: Darius... James: Darius... 14:12 Darius is the king and he's setting up his kingdom, 14:17 read the rest of the verse. 14:19 Jason: Okay, "to set over the kingdom 14:20 one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom. " 14:25 James: Keep reading. 14:26 Jason: "and over these, three governors, 14:27 of whom Daniel was one. " 14:29 James: Okay. Jason: All right... 14:32 "that the satraps might give account to them, 14:34 so that the king would suffer no loss. " 14:37 James: Verse 3. 14:38 Jason: Then this Daniel distinguished himself 14:40 above the governors and satraps, 14:42 because an excellent spirit was in him; 14:44 and the king gave thought 14:46 to setting him over the whole realm. " 14:48 James: What? What did God promise? 14:50 He promised that His people would be the head 14:53 and not the tail, okay, if they would obey Him. 14:56 That promise cannot fail... 14:58 though the whole nation apostatized from God, 15:01 that promise cannot fail. 15:03 So, Daniel sets his face 15:05 to allow God to establish that promise in him. 15:08 He's in Babylon and then Medo-Persia... 15:12 Daniel is... right? Yvonne: Right. 15:13 James: But will God's promises fail 15:15 even though the nation has failed? 15:16 Jason: No... look... look at Joseph. 15:18 James: Look at Joseph... 15:20 we... we see this all the way through the Bible 15:22 and so, here's now... here's another connection. 15:24 As soon as Darius starts thinking 15:28 about putting Daniel first, 15:29 which is... in a sense... a fulfillment of God's promises, 15:32 the rest of the leaders conspire against him, right? 15:38 They start conspiring against him 15:40 and they come up with a plan that's inspired by Satan. 15:42 "We need to pass a law that no man can 15:47 pray... " 15:49 right? remember that? 15:51 We're going to pass a law that no man can pray 15:53 to any God except to Darius. 15:54 What is Daniel doing in Daniel chapter 9? 15:57 Yvonne: Praying. Jason: Praying. 15:58 James: He's getting ready to pray... 16:00 he is getting ready to set his heart, right? 16:02 To pray... so, it's not just that Daniel's praying 16:05 in Daniel chapter 6... 16:07 you know, it's not just that Daniel is praying, 16:09 there's a context to his prayer. 16:11 You see, it's not just that Satan is trying to stop him 16:13 from praying. 16:14 Of course, Satan's trying to stop us from praying 16:16 but there's a context to the prayer. 16:18 This is a specific prayer at a specific time 16:22 for a specific goal 16:23 and the goal that Daniel is seeking to understand 16:27 is the 70 week... 2300-day prophecy. 16:30 He set in his heart... and the thing that God is doing 16:33 He's working on Darius to fulfill His promise 16:36 to all of Israel... to all of Judah through Daniel. 16:39 "You're going to be the head and not the tail. " 16:41 You see all the factors that are coming to play right here 16:43 in the book of Daniel? 16:45 Jason: Hmmm... hmmm... 16:46 Yvonne: So, Daniel is now working for a new administration 16:50 a new government 16:52 but he's placed in a place of prominence 16:56 in that new administration. 16:58 James: Yes. 16:59 Yvonne: So, he was carried over which is unusual... 17:02 James: Very unusual. 17:03 Yvonne: from the old to the new. 17:05 James: Because an excellent spirit was in him. 17:07 Yvonne: and placed at the top. 17:09 James: Yeah, he was placed on the top 17:11 and then the king's thinking about putting... 17:12 he's at top three 17:14 and then the king's thinking about putting him 17:15 at the very top because he trusts him... 17:17 he trusts him. 17:18 This is a fulfillment of God's word though 17:20 because God's working on Darius. 17:21 Yvonne: Yes. 17:22 James: Remember he goes through the... 17:24 we went through this already but remember when Darius 17:25 is forced to put Daniel in the Lion's Den, 17:29 he says to Daniel... "They God whom thou servest... " 17:33 anyone knows the word? 17:34 All: Continually... 17:36 James: Right? Continual... the continual is taken away... 17:38 you... so... "He is able to deliver" 17:41 see, Darius' heart has been softened by the Holy Spirit 17:43 and there are leaders and there are rulers in our world today 17:46 whose hearts are being softened by the Holy Spirit 17:48 and God's word will be fulfilled today 17:51 as verily it was fulfilled with Daniel. 17:54 Jason: Hmmm... Yvonne: Yes. 17:55 James: We need to be about our Father's business... 17:57 we need to be about prayer 17:58 and not just any old prayer... 18:00 if you look in Daniel chapter 9, let's just go back there 18:03 and let's keep reading... Yvonne, would you read for us 18:06 verses 2 all the way down to verse 5. 18:11 Yvonne: Sure, "In the first year of his reign, 18:14 I, Daniel, understood by the books 18:16 the number of the years 18:18 specified by the word of the Lord 18:19 through Jeremiah the prophet, 18:21 that He would accomplish seventy years 18:24 in the desolations of Jerusalem. 18:26 Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request 18:29 by prayer and supplications, 18:31 with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. 18:34 And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, 18:37 and said, 'O Lord, great and awesome God, 18:39 who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, 18:43 and with those who keep His commandments, 18:45 we have sinned and committed iniquity, 18:48 we have done wickedly and rebelled, 18:50 even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. '" 18:53 James: Okay, there are three key factors here 18:56 that I want us to consider in this prayer 18:58 and we're going to see it all the way through. 18:59 Number one, we see this as a prayer of humility. 19:03 Daniel is humbling himself before the Lord. 19:06 He's acknowledging that he doesn't get... 19:08 he doesn't understand. 19:10 In fact, at the end of the prayer when Gabriel comes, 19:12 he says, "I've come to give you understanding. " 19:14 So, Daniel in... in chapter 8... the very last verse here, 19:17 it says that Daniel fainted and he was sick certain days 19:20 and afterward, he rose up and did the king's business, 19:23 and was astonished at the vision, 19:25 but none understood it. 19:26 James: We need to be willing to acknowledge 19:29 that we don't always understand. 19:30 Yvonne: Hmmm... 19:32 Jason: That's why I'm a student on this Program... 19:34 because I don't understand. 19:37 All: Laughter. 19:38 James: That... that is easy for you to say now 19:41 but ten years from now... twenty years from now... 19:44 if the Lord should tarry, 19:45 it's going to be a little bit more challenging 19:47 because as we go on in our Christian experience, 19:49 the more we learn, the more susceptible we are 19:51 to be proud... to be opinionated... 19:54 to be... to be dependent on our knowledge... our education... 19:57 Daniel for some reason continued to be dependent on God 20:01 for wisdom. 20:02 He never got to the place where he was like, 20:04 "Wait a minute... wait a minute, I can figure this out. " 20:05 He's going to the Word of God 20:07 and he's acknowledging that he can't understand. 20:09 The second thing he's doing 20:10 is he's humbling himself in action. 20:12 He's praying... he's fasting... 20:14 he's afflicting his soul 20:16 and the third thing that he's doing is... 20:18 he's having this Corporate attitude. 20:20 He's not saying, "Oh, you know, the rest of those Israelites... 20:22 oh the rest of Judah... all those other people... 20:24 they're all in apostasy but not me. 20:25 I actually deserve your favor... 20:27 Man! I am following the health message... 20:29 I'm doing everything you... " 20:30 no... he includes himself... "We have sinned... " 20:33 that Corporate attitude that he has 20:36 is carried all the way through his prayer... 20:38 I think that word "we" or "us" is... 20:40 is mentioned or repeated about 12 times in Daniel chapter 9. 20:44 "We... we... we... us... us... us... " 20:46 we have a "them" and "us" attitude 20:48 and we need to have a Corporate attitude. 20:50 That means, we're part of all of this... 20:52 that's what Jesus revealed to us when He was baptized, you know, 20:55 John the Baptist said, 20:56 "I... I... I'm not even worthy to touch Your... 20:58 Your shoelaces... Your... the latches of Your shoes" 21:01 and Jesus says, "We need to do this now 21:03 so that we can fulfill all righteousness. " 21:05 Jesus wasn't baptized because He was a sinner... 21:07 He was baptized because He identified with sinners. 21:10 All: Yes... hmmm... 21:11 James: He went through all the steps to identify with us 21:13 in every way 21:15 and we need to identify with our brothers and sisters, 21:16 whoever they are... wherever they are 21:18 and when we fail to do this, we fall short of the glory... 21:22 the character of God... 21:23 the way that Christ carried Himself 21:24 when He was on this earth 21:26 and then finally, we haven't gotten to this verse yet 21:28 but I'm just going to jump ahead to do it... 21:30 finally, Daniel in his prayer says... 21:33 and I'm looking at this here in verse 17, 21:35 he says, "Now, therefore, O our God, 21:38 hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, 21:42 and cause Thy face to shine upon Thy sanctuary that is desolate, 21:45 for the Lord's sake. " 21:48 Verse 18... 21:49 "O my God, incline Thine ear, and hear... 21:52 and open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, 21:54 and the city which is called by Thy name: 21:56 for we do not present our supplications before thee 22:00 for our righteousness's, but for Thy great mercies. " 22:04 It's all about God... 22:05 it's all about God. 22:07 Daniel has a Corporate attitude... 22:09 Daniel has an attitude of humility... 22:12 humility of knowledge... 22:13 Daniel has actions that parallel... 22:16 that are in harmony with this attitude... 22:18 he fasts... he prays... he supplicates... 22:21 he humbles himself... and Daniel is all about God's glory. 22:24 This isn't about us... 22:26 this Program is not about us. 22:27 This Station is not about us... this is all about Jesus. 22:31 It's about God's glory... 22:32 it's about presenting to the world 22:34 the matchless charms of Jesus Christ. 22:36 All: Hmmm... hmmm... 22:38 James: That's the focus that Daniel has 22:39 and that's the focus that... that God wants us to have 22:41 and when we have that focus, what happens? 22:43 Daniel chapter 9 and verse 23... 22:46 wasn't there something there Ivor, 22:49 that I thought you were bringing out... 22:51 I'm not sure what it was but.. but... 22:52 but let's give it back to you and see... see what it is. 22:55 Ivor: Well, let... let it... 22:58 can I have someone just go back and read verse 11 to 13? 23:01 James: Okay... who wants to read those verses? 23:05 Jason: 11 to 13? James: Yeah. 23:07 Jason: "Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, 23:09 and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; 23:12 therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses 23:16 the servant of God have been poured out on us, 23:19 because we have sinned against Him. 23:20 And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us 23:24 and against our judges who judged us, 23:27 by bringing upon us a great disaster; 23:29 for under the whole heaven such has never been done 23:32 as what has been done to Jerusalem. 23:35 As it is written in the Law of Moses, 23:38 all this disaster has come upon us; 23:40 yet we have not made our prayer before the Lord our God, 23:44 that we might turn from our iniquities 23:46 and understand Your truth. " 23:49 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 23:50 Ivor: So, I mean, I want you to notice here 23:53 how the 70 weeks... 23:56 I mean, 70 years is here connected... 24:00 it's in the same chapter, right? 24:03 Remember earlier that you read, Jason, in verse 2 of Daniel, 24:06 "he understood by the books the number of years 24:09 whereof the word of God came to Jeremiah the prophet, 24:11 that he would accomplish seventy years 24:13 in the desolations of Jerusalem... " 24:14 Jason: Hmmm... hmmm... 24:16 Ivor: So, you've got the 70 years 24:18 and the 70 weeks in the same chapter. 24:21 James: Okay. Ivor: Right? 24:22 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Ivor: The 70 years... 24:23 this is a result of your rebellion... 24:25 the 70 weeks... 70 times 7... 24:29 when we turn our face to the Lord... 24:31 when we focus upon the Lord... 24:33 when we come to the Lord in that genuine spirit of repentance, 24:36 He offers to us this forgiveness... 24:39 so, what we're going to see is that this 70-Week prophecy 24:44 is God giving Israel a second chance to realize 24:51 the fulfillment of the Promised Land. 24:54 James: Amen... hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 24:57 Ivor: And the way they're going to realize that fulfillment, 24:59 is by the coming of the promised Man. 25:03 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 25:04 Ivor: So, I'm going to allow you back into... 25:07 back into Jerusalem... 25:09 I'm going to allow you to rebuild the temple 25:12 and when you begin to read these prophecies of Isaiah 25:16 and Zechariah and Ezekiel about this temple 25:20 and Haggai... about this temple 25:23 that the glory of God is going to fill 25:25 and all these promises of... of Gentiles coming up to Jerusalem 25:31 and... and it being the center of all glory... 25:35 the center of the glory of the whole world, 25:39 this is what could have been Israel's future 25:44 had they accepted the promised Man. 25:47 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 25:49 Ivor: Like we don't realize what could have happened 25:56 had the nation of Israel accepted Christ as the Messiah, 26:03 we... when we read these prophecies in Isaiah 26:06 and Jeremiah... of all this glory 26:08 and the Gentiles shall come unto thee 26:11 and one shall grab you by the skirt and say, 26:14 "Are you... " you know... 26:15 "Are you one that worships God? We want to go up with you. " 26:18 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 26:20 Ivor: None of that is realized 26:23 because of what ends up happening 26:26 in this final extension of God's mercy to His people. 26:31 James: Hmmm... 26:33 Ivor: And this is what we will see unfold 26:36 as we look at the 70-Week prophecy... 26:39 why He's talking about the city 26:42 and the temple being destroyed one last time 26:46 because of their rejection of the Prince 26:50 that was prophesied to come. 26:53 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Yvonne: Wow! 26:56 James: It's interesting what you're saying here because 26:57 we might see a parallel to that in the end of time 27:00 with those two cycles again coming in 27:04 and the focus being on the cleansing of the temple 27:07 the first time... Millerite Movement 27:09 and then the second time... End-time Movement. 27:12 God is so gracious 27:13 and He has done so much for us in Jesus Christ 27:17 that it behooves us to be cognizant of... 27:22 how God has dealt with His people in the end of time, 27:24 we've got to look at that history... 27:26 the 70 weeks... the 70 years... 27:27 bring it all together... which Daniel does 27:29 and then, I just love this... 27:31 the attitude that Daniel has 27:33 and the way that God responds to that attitude... 27:35 it's so powerful... it's so beautiful. 27:37 When Gabriel comes to Daniel, he says, 27:39 "Daniel, you are greatly beloved... " 27:42 Yvonne: Oh, I love that. 27:43 James: "You are greatly beloved. " 27:45 Jason: Hmmm... Yvonne: Yes. 27:46 James: That is just... that's just got to touch your heart 27:47 because Daniel has a Corporate attitude 27:49 and God is speaking to Daniel as He's speaking to us 27:52 and He's speaking to every single Viewer 27:54 out there right now... 27:55 every single person is greatly beloved of God. 27:58 Yvonne: Yes. Jason: Hmmm... hmmm. |
