00:32 James: Okay, we are in Daniel chapter 9. 00:34 This is going to be Part 2 00:36 and we might stay here for a while... 00:37 we might settle here for a while. 00:39 We might have a Part 3 or Part 4 or Part 5... 00:42 well, hopefully not a Part 6... we'll see 00:44 but we're not in a hurry. 00:46 Yvonne: Right. 00:47 James: Daniel chapter 9 is the center 00:49 not only of the book of Daniel but of the entire Bible. 00:51 This is the cornerstone of all prophecy 00:55 because the focus of Daniel chapter 9 is Christ 00:59 and that's what we've been looking at in the whole book, 01:02 we've seen how this whole book centers around Jesus Christ 01:05 and we're going to see that in Daniel 9 now more than ever. 01:08 It's going to be powerful and beautiful 01:10 to see Christ in Daniel chapter 9 01:12 especially in these prophecies but before we jump in, 01:14 Jason, would you have a word of prayer for us? 01:16 Jason: Absolutely... "Dear heavenly Father, 01:19 we just ask for the Holy Spirit to lead, guide 01:21 and direct us into all truth 01:23 and help us to comprehend what we're... we're looking at 01:25 and be with the Viewers as well... 01:27 help them to comprehend it too. 01:29 In Jesus' name we pray, amen. " 01:31 All: Amen... amen. 01:33 James: All right, so we left off in Daniel 9 01:36 with this attitude that Daniel had of humility. 01:39 He had a humility of spirit... a humility of action... 01:43 he had this humility of attitude... 01:47 he humbled himself... he prayed... 01:51 he prayed a Corporate prayer 01:52 including himself with his whole nation that had apostatized 01:55 and turned away from God 01:57 and in relation to this, he was focusing on God's glory. 02:01 "God, hear our prayer... not for our righteousness' sake 02:05 but for Your righteousness' sake... for Your glory... 02:07 for Your city that's called by Your Name... 02:09 vindicate your character... " 02:10 and this is really informative for us, 02:13 we're going to look at prophecy right now 02:16 as we move into the Daniel chapter 9 further 02:19 but we don't want to leave out the... 02:22 the vital part of this message that is practical. 02:25 Prophecy is very intellectual, 02:27 you know, we look at dates and days... 02:30 its symbols and we put it all together 02:32 and say, "Whoa, look at that" you know 02:34 and our intellectual minds are just expanded and... 02:37 and we just get all excited. 02:39 Well, Nebuchadnezzar had that same experience 02:41 in Daniel chapter 2 02:43 and he was blown away, you know, by Daniel the Evangelist 02:46 and, you know, the first one to attend a Daniel Seminar, right? 02:49 Yvonne: Yeah. 02:51 James: And there he was taking it all in 02:53 but by Daniel chapter 3, 02:54 he was backsliding out the door, he was gone 02:57 and Daniel reminds us that relationship with God... 03:01 connection with God... 03:02 covenant relationship is vital 03:05 in connection with Bible prophecy. 03:07 We don't want to leave out prophecy... 03:09 we want to make sure we emphasize that relationship 03:11 and Daniel shows us how that... what that looks like. 03:14 It looks like a humble man who's seeking God 03:17 and including himself with all the other sinners 03:19 on Planet Earth... all of his brothers and sisters 03:22 and confessing their sins so, he himself was part of that, 03:26 guilty of that 03:27 and then just asking the Lord for His glory's sake 03:29 to reveal this truth to him 03:33 and what happens next is amazing. 03:35 Jason, pick up for us would you in verses 21 through 23. 03:40 Jason: Okay, "Yes, while I was speaking in prayer, 03:43 the man Gabriel, 03:45 whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, 03:47 being caused to fly swiftly, 03:49 reached me about the time of the evening offering. 03:53 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, 03:57 'O Daniel, 03:58 I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. 04:01 At the beginning of your supplications 04:04 the command went out, and I have come to tell you, 04:07 for you are greatly beloved; 04:09 therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision... '" 04:13 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 04:15 James: There's so much here in these few verses. 04:16 Yvonne: Yes. 04:18 James: That one phrase there, "Thou art greatly beloved... " 04:19 we should park on that for just a few seconds. 04:21 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... 04:23 James: You are greatly beloved, 04:24 Jason, you are greatly beloved... 04:26 All: Laughter. 04:29 James: All of us are greatly beloved. 04:31 We don't need to be "great" if we're greatly beloved 04:34 and this is the message that God wants to communicate... 04:37 not just to Daniel but to all of us 04:39 because Daniel is praying in a Corporate sense. 04:43 He's acknowledging, "We have sinned... 04:45 we have departed from Your commandments... 04:47 we have not listened to Your prophets... 04:49 we have forsaken Your truth... we... " 04:51 and then, God says, "You are greatly beloved. " 04:53 Yvonne: Yes. Jason: Hmmm... 04:55 Yvonne: You know, even... even at the beginning of the verse 04:58 where it says, "At the beginning of your supplication 05:01 when you first asked of Me... " 05:04 I mean, that's so amazing to me because He didn't even... 05:08 God didn't even have to wait until he finished... 05:12 "While you are yet speaking... I will answer. " 05:16 So, while he was yet beginning... God answered. 05:19 James: You know, there's a Bible promise on that, 05:21 "It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer 05:25 and while they are yet speaking, I will hear... " 05:29 and that's, I think, Isaiah so, that's pre-Daniel 05:32 and here it is being fulfilled in Daniel. 05:34 Yvonne: Yes. James: It's beautiful... 05:37 Jason: Amen. Yvonne: Beautiful. 05:38 James: and you notice here in this verse, 05:40 there's two times where God uses a word... 05:42 or Daniel uses a word where he says 05:45 that Gabriel has come 05:47 to give him skill and understanding 05:49 and that's in verse 22 05:52 and then in verse 23 again, 05:54 "therefore understand the matter, 05:56 and consider the vision. " 05:58 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... 05:59 James: This is vital for us 06:00 because this connects Daniel chapter 9 06:03 with Daniel chapter 8. 06:04 Daniel chapter 8 is partly understood by Daniel. 06:09 I know he gets the goat and the ram... because he's told, 06:12 "This is, you know, Medo-Persia and Greece... " 06:14 but he's not clear on the rest especially the 2300-day prophecy 06:19 in relation to the cleansing of the sanctuary. 06:21 As we talked about earlier, 06:23 Ivor was saying, you know that 70 years' captivity 06:26 and now the 70 weeks and the 2300-Day prophecy 06:28 with the cleansing of the sanctuary at the end 06:30 doesn't... it's confusing to Daniel 06:33 and he says that, "I didn't understand... 06:34 I started to look at the... " 06:36 by the way, Daniel goes back to the Bible, 06:38 "I went back to Jeremiah and I want to check this out... " 06:40 you know, he goes back to the Bible, 06:42 he didn't say, "I went to my local priest 06:44 or my local pastor... I went back to the Bible 06:46 to see what was going on. " 06:47 Yvonne: Yes. 06:48 James: And as he goes to the Bible, he's led to pray 06:50 and as he prays and humbles himself, 06:52 God says, "Gabriel go... go... " 06:55 I love the way that phrase... 06:56 I love that phrase there... "I was caused to fly swiftly" 06:59 what does that look like? 07:01 What does that look like? 07:03 Yvonne: Yes. Jason: Yeah. 07:04 James: And he... he is flying swiftly 07:06 and so, Daniel is still praying, 07:08 I don't know how long this prayer is, 07:09 two minutes... three minutes... five minutes... 07:10 but by the time he's done praying, Gabriel is there. 07:13 That's swift. 07:14 I believe that's for us 07:16 that God will send angels to fly swiftly to our aid 07:20 when we call out to Him if you need Him for help. 07:24 Yvonne: Yes. Jason: Amen. 07:26 James: Vital connection here, Ivor, you see it? 07:29 Ivor: Yeah, so just to reiterate that point, 07:32 if you look in Daniel chapter 9 verse 23... 07:35 the verses you guys just read... 07:36 I'm going to read it again, it says, 07:38 "At the beginning of thy supplications 07:40 the commandment came forth, 07:42 and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: 07:45 therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. " 07:49 James: Hmmm... 07:50 Ivor: So, here's the thing we need to understand, 07:54 from verse 1 to verse 22... there is no vision... 07:57 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 07:59 James: So, when the angel... 08:01 when Gabriel says, "Consider the vision... " 08:03 he... he... Daniel has to be thinking only one thing. 08:07 James: Yeah. 08:09 Ivor: It is a vision from chapter 8 08:10 which he did not get a full understanding of. 08:13 James: Yeah, that's it. 08:14 Ivor: Right, and this is how we connect 08:16 the... the... the time element of Daniel chapter 8 08:21 with the... with the beginning of this 70-Week prophecy 08:27 which gives us a time period... 08:29 gives us a starting point, 08:31 right, so that's the lynchpin if you will 08:34 between Daniel 8 and Daniel 9. 08:37 There is no vision in Daniel 9 08:39 so, he must be referring back to Daniel 8, right? 08:42 James: Hmmm... yeah. 08:43 Ivor: And in Daniel 9:24, he begins... 08:46 the angel begins with these words, 08:48 "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people 08:52 and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, 08:56 to make an end of sins... 08:58 to make reconciliation for iniquity, 09:01 and to bring in everlasting righteousness, 09:04 and to seal up the vision and prophecy, 09:06 and to anoint the most Holy. " 09:08 Now, I'm going to pause right here for a moment because 09:13 this sounds like if this is accomplished, it's heaven. 09:18 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 09:20 Ivor: that's what it sounds like, 09:22 reconciliation for iniquity... 09:25 everlasting righteousness... like, "What? 09:27 Are you saying in 70 weeks, heaven is going to be set up?" 09:32 Well, remember in our previous program, 09:36 that we talked about his idea of the Promised Land 09:42 that was supposed to be the center of the glory on earth, 09:47 right? This place that Gentiles were to flow to 09:51 because of the... the glory of God being revealed there, 09:56 they go into Babylonian captivity 10:00 because they have failed in this... 10:02 they have rebelled against God 10:04 and therefore, they've not realized the promise. 10:06 Daniel is praying and he's saying, 10:09 "Look, the curses that were spoken of in the Law of Moses 10:13 have been poured out upon us 10:15 and that's why we're here in Babylon... " 10:17 and then the angel comes 10:18 and it's basically giving the 70-time-seven prophecy. 10:23 James: Okay. 10:24 Ivor: It's a second chance... 10:26 "All right Guys, remember the original plan 10:30 for the Promised Land? 10:33 You have seventy weeks, 10:35 if you obey me... One is coming 10:41 who is going to be the center of the glory 10:45 of the Promised Land. " 10:47 Yvonne: Hmmm... James: Hmmm... Jason: Hmmm... 10:48 Ivor: "If you receive this One 10:51 the... the... the... the prophecies 10:55 that... that My prophets have spoken to you, right, 10:58 will begin to come to fruition. " 11:00 I just want you to think for a moment. 11:04 What happened when Jesus came to His city? 11:07 Just... just think about that for a moment, right, 11:11 the promises were, 11:13 "I will heal you from diseases. " 11:17 Did Jesus do that? 11:19 James: Amen. Yvonne: Hmmm... He did. 11:21 Ivor: Right, just think about... they... 11:25 Jesus was the... the literal fulfillment 11:28 of all the blessings. 11:31 Yvonne: Hmmm... 11:35 Ivor: Had they received Christ, and you know, 11:40 we all know, okay, what... 11:41 you know, Christ still would have died... 11:43 right? He... He... that was prophesied... 11:45 He was to die for the sins of the world 11:47 but the result of Jerusalem not rejecting Him 11:53 would have changed the whole history of Israel. 11:59 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 12:00 Ivor: So, nonetheless, this prophecy is given... 12:04 it's a... it's a... "What are you going to do? 12:07 Right, 70 weeks are determined upon you... 12:11 you have 70 weeks to make your final decision if you will 12:14 as a Nation. " 12:16 Right, Daniel 9:25, it goes on to say, 12:20 "Know therefore and understand, 12:21 that from the going forth of the commandment 12:24 to restore and to build Jerusalem 12:27 unto the Messiah the Prince... " 12:29 and so, this is where we get the understanding 12:32 that this prophecy is ultimately pointing 12:35 to the coming of the Messiah. 12:36 Ivor: Hmmm... hmmm... 12:37 right, as the fulfillment of the promise. 12:41 Now, this is super important to understand... 12:45 James, you said that Daniel 9 is the center 12:49 of the book of Daniel 12:51 and the center of the whole Bible, really. 12:53 James: Yes. 12:55 Ivor: You will be amazed to find 12:56 how many places Daniel 9 is actually spoken about 13:01 in the Old Testament. 13:02 James: Hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 13:04 Ivor: Right, so, let me just give you a quick example. 13:06 In Ezekiel 37, remember Ezekiel is a contemporary of Daniel, 13:11 right? He is prophesying just before the fall of Babylon... 13:15 I'm sorry, just before the fall of Jerusalem 13:18 and then, he is in the captivity period of Jerusalem 13:23 so, God is speaking to Ezekiel 13:26 for the comfort of the people 13:29 that have been taken captive in Jerusalem. 13:31 James: Okay. 13:33 Ivor: Ezekiel 37 is a vision of a valley of dry bones. 13:39 James: Hmmm... 13:40 Ivor: All right, remember God is speaking in parable here 13:45 to His people. 13:46 James: Very dry bones. Yvonne: Smiling. 13:48 Ivor: Very dry bones 13:50 and if you're familiar with this vision, 13:52 you know, God says to Ezekiel "Can these bones live?" 13:56 Ezekiel is like, "Lord, you know... " 13:57 and He says, "Prophesy... " and then the bones come together 14:00 and they stand up on their feet... a great army. 14:02 Now, watch God's explanation of this. 14:05 Ezekiel 37:11 says this: 14:08 Then He said unto me, "Son of man, 14:10 these bones are the whole house of Israel. 14:14 Behold they say, 'Our bones are dry, 14:16 and our hope is lost, 14:18 we are cut off our parts!'" 14:20 Why are they saying this? 14:21 Because they are in... Panel: Captivity. 14:24 Ivor: Captivity... 14:27 He says: Therefore prophesy and say unto them, 14:29 "Thus saith the LORD God; 'Behold, O My people, 14:32 I will open your graves... '" 14:33 symbolically speaking about their captivity... 14:36 "and cause you to come up out of the graves, 14:39 and bring you into the land of Israel. " 14:42 James: Hmmm... hmmm... 14:43 Ivor: Right, this is basically Him prophesying 14:47 that you're going to come back into your land. 14:49 I'm going to let you out of your place of captivity 14:52 and I'm going to bring you back into your land 14:54 and now notice verse 14, 14:57 "I shall put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, 15:01 and I shall place you in your own land. " 15:04 Let me keep reading... 15:07 let's go down to verse 21, 15:09 "Say unto them, 15:12 'Thus says the Lord God: 15:14 "Behold, I will take the children of Israel 15:15 from among the heathen, 15:17 whither they be gone, 15:18 and will gather them on every side, 15:19 and bring them into their own land. 15:21 And I will make them one nation 15:22 in the land upon the mountains of Israel; 15:26 and one king shall be king to them all... "'" 15:30 James: Hmmm... 15:31 Ivor: It gets more specific... 15:34 verse 24, "And David my servant shall be king over them; 15:40 and they shall have one shepherd. " 15:42 What is Ezekiel doing here? 15:45 James: Hmmm... 15:46 Ivor: He is talking about both the restoration of Israel 15:51 into their own land 15:52 and then, he's pointing down to a time where the king will come 16:01 to that land. 16:03 James: Hmmm... hmmm... 16:04 Ivor: This is exactly what Daniel chapter 9 16:09 is talking about. 16:10 "I'm going to restore you to your land... 16:12 you're going to rebuild your temple in your city 16:14 and if you count a certain period of time, 16:16 the Promised King... 16:19 the Promised Messiah will come. " 16:22 James: Hmmm... hmmm... 16:23 Ivor: This is happening over and over again... 16:28 the Isaiah... Ezekiel... Jeremiah... 16:31 you will find places where it seems like they're talking about 16:34 you know, Israel 16:35 and then all of a sudden, they shift to the Messiah. 16:37 James: Hmmm... hmmm... 16:38 Ivor: The Messiah will come... Messiah... 16:41 why is the Messiah, like, found right here 16:43 in the middle of this chapter that is originally talking about 16:46 Jerusalem or Israel being restored 16:49 or Jerusalem coming out of captivity? 16:50 The prophecy of Daniel 9 is being expounded upon, why? 16:55 Because the coming of Christ is the center of all Israel. 17:00 It is the... it is the central prophecy 17:04 of the entire Old Testament. 17:06 James: Yeah, I think that you've nailed it, Ivor, 17:09 because, when you look at this in Daniel chapter 9 17:12 and you compare it with the Old and the New Testament, 17:15 you see it all centers in Christ. 17:16 For example, you read the verse in Ezekiel 37, 17:20 it says here in verse 12, 17:24 "Therefore prophecy and say unto them 17:26 'Thus saith the Lord God; "Behold, O my people, 17:29 I will open your graves, 17:31 and cause you to come out of your graves... "'" 17:35 Yvonne: Hmmm... Jason: Hmmm... hmmm... 17:36 James: Okay, now, think about that. 17:38 "I will open your graves, 17:40 and cause you to come out of your graves... " 17:43 think about it in relation to Jesus. 17:45 Jason: Hmmm... Yvonne: Right. Jason: Hmmm... hmmm... 17:47 James: What happened when Jesus died on the cross? 17:49 Yvonne: It was the resurrection. 17:51 James: Yeah... Ivor: Yeah. Jason: Yes. 17:53 James: Matthew chapter 27... 17:54 look at Matthew chapter 27 and read, if you would, Jason, 17:58 would you read verses 50 to 53? 18:04 Jason: Okay, 50 to 53... 18:07 "And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, 18:10 and yielded up His spirit. 18:11 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two 18:15 from top to bottom; 18:16 and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 18:18 and the graves were opened; 18:20 and many bodies of the saints 18:22 who had fallen asleep were raised; 18:24 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, 18:27 they went into the holy city and appeared to many. " 18:30 Yvonne: Hmmm... James: Wow! Jason: Hmmm... hmmm... 18:33 James: That's an exact fulfillment 18:35 of the prophecy in Ezekiel 37. 18:37 Yvonne: Hmmm... 18:38 Ivor: And... and wait... let... let me add to that verse 26, 18:41 "Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; 18:45 it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: 18:48 I will place them, and multiply them, 18:50 and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. " 18:54 When you look at the prophecy of Daniel 9... the 70 weeks... 18:57 it speaks about the same everlasting covenant 19:01 that would happen in the midst of a certain week 19:05 which again... we... we promise we're getting to it 19:08 but, I think it is... it is important for us 19:12 to establish just how central the prophecy of Daniel 9 was 19:18 to all the prophets. 19:19 James: Hmmm... hmmm... and how it focused on Christ. 19:22 Ivor: Yes. 19:24 James: So going back to Daniel 9... 19:25 in verse 24, there are seven tasks outlined here... 19:29 James: Seventy weeks are given to, first of all, 19:32 finish transgression... 19:34 make an end of sins, and reconciliation for iniquity. 19:39 Does that sound redundant? 19:40 What is transgression... sin... and iniquity? 19:45 You know what I'm saying? Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... Yeah. 19:47 James: In other words, 19:48 Jesus is going to take care of all of this, 19:50 well, I've jumped ahead of myself there haven't I 19:52 a little bit but let me just say it this way, 19:55 we're... we're... we're summarizing every issue 19:58 in human fallenness... sin, transgression and iniquity. 20:01 There is nothing in us or of us 20:04 that we're made out of... that we... 20:06 that doesn't fall under one of those categories 20:09 and if you want to do a really intent interesting study on this 20:12 you could study the difference between sin, 20:14 transgression and iniquity. 20:15 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... 20:17 James: But Jesus is going to take care of the whole pa... 20:19 let me... let me hold off right there, 20:20 God is... is talking about the whole package there. 20:23 "Seventy weeks are determined 20:26 for you to finish sin, transgression and iniquity... " 20:28 and then it goes on to bring in or "to make reconciliation... 20:31 to bring in everlasting righteousness... " 20:33 there is task number four... 20:35 "to seal up the vision... " I'm going to say that's five... 20:38 "and the prophecy... " I'm going to say that's six... 20:40 "and to anoint the Most Holy. " 20:41 That's seven... seven tasks... 20:42 Jason: Hmmm... 20:44 James: Okay, now the next sentence... 20:46 the next verse is key in this prophecy... 20:49 the very next verse. 20:50 "Know therefore and understand... " 20:53 "therefore" in other words, 20:54 based on what I've just said that you have seventy weeks 20:57 to finish sin, transgression and iniquity 20:59 to bring in everlasting righteousness 21:01 and seal up the vision and the prophecy and anoint the... 21:03 knowing that... knowing that and understanding that... 21:05 notice this... this is so beautiful... 21:08 just check this out. 21:09 "Know therefore and understand, 21:11 that from the time of the going forth of the command 21:13 to restore and build Jerusalem 21:14 until Messiah the Prince, 21:16 shall be seven weeks and threescore and two weeks. " 21:22 You have 70 weeks so you need to finish all... 21:26 sin, transgression and iniquity needs to be finished... 21:29 everlasting righteousness needs to be brought in... 21:31 the prophecy needs to be sealed up... 21:32 the vision needs to be sealed up and the Most Holy... 21:35 the Holy Place needs to be anointed... 21:36 you've got 70 weeks to do that 21:37 so, know and understand since you failed year after year 21:41 generation after generation, 21:43 prophecy after prophecy... since you've failed... 21:44 know therefore and understand 21:46 that Messiah the Prince is coming 21:47 and when is He coming? 21:48 Is He coming in 70 weeks? 21:50 Yvonne: Seven and 62... 21:53 James: How much is that? 21:56 Yvonne: 69. 21:57 James: 69... He's coming... 21:59 that's one week before time is up. 22:03 James: Exactly. Yvonne: Wow! 22:04 James: Do you see what God is saying here? 22:06 Do you see the implication? 22:07 God is saying, "You've got 70 weeks... 22:09 you failed miserably... Messiah is coming in 69." 22:12 Panel: Hmmm... 22:14 James: "You've got 70 weeks... Messiah is coming in 69... 22:15 you've got 70 weeks... Messiah is coming in 69." 22:18 You've got 70 weeks but guess what? 22:21 Messiah is coming in 69 weeks. 22:24 He is the One that's going to finish transgression... 22:26 He is the One that's going to make reconciliation for iniquity 22:28 He is the One that's going to bring in 22:29 everlasting righteousness... 22:31 He is the One that's going to bring an end to sin... 22:33 He is the One that's going to anoint the Most Holy... 22:35 He is the One that's going to fulfill the vision 22:38 and fulfill the prophecy... Messiah is going to do that. 22:41 Does that make sense? 22:43 Yvonne: Yeah... yeah. 22:44 James: It's... it's clearly here directing the people 22:46 to... to Jesus Christ as the One who will fulfill this. 22:50 It doesn't say, "You've got 70 weeks 22:52 and if you don't make it in 70 weeks, 22:54 I'll send Messiah in 71 weeks. " 22:55 Yvonne: Right. James: See, it doesn't say that. 22:57 Yvonne: You have seventy weeks to do it... period. 23:00 Jason: To get it done. 23:02 James: "So... so the thing you have to get done then 23:03 if Messiah's the One that's coming to do this... 23:05 the thing you have to get done 23:06 is you need to accept the Messiah. 23:08 See, He's the One coming to do this. " 23:10 So, the only responsibility of the Jews 23:13 under New Covenant glasses... 23:15 when we put on these New Covenant glasses... 23:17 "Oh, I can see now... look at that... 23:20 it's Messiah... He is the center of this prophecy. " 23:23 If this is all about us... 23:25 we've got to do all of this stuff, 23:27 we're going to be way down again 23:29 with guilt, condemnation and failure 23:32 but if God is directing us to a... a... a vision... 23:36 a prophecy that's focusing on Jesus, 23:38 now, we have some hope... 23:40 now, we can have some confidence... 23:42 now, we've got a future and an end. 23:46 Yvonne: Right, so He comes in the 69 weeks... 23:49 Does that mean you have one week basically 23:52 to get it together 23:54 or you have to... you have to have by the 69th 23:57 because that's when He comes... 23:59 you have 70. 24:00 James: You have 70 weeks and I'm just going to... 24:03 let me reiterate this... you have 70 weeks 24:06 to fulfill... to accomplish something 24:09 that you wouldn't be able to accomplish 24:11 if you had a 170 weeks. 24:13 You wouldn't be able to accomplish it 24:15 if you had 270 weeks. 24:16 You will never be able to accomplish it. 24:17 So, I'm just sending a sign in 69 weeks. 24:20 I want to give you a 69 weeks just to remind you 24:22 how hopeless you are... 24:24 how dark Israel was... 24:27 how dark the Jewish nation was when Jesus came, 24:29 you know, He came to His own, His own received Him not. 24:31 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... 24:32 James: They were completely lost 24:34 but the whole idea here is to take our focus off 24:38 this... this... this thought 24:41 that we are going to... 24:43 we need to accomplish something in 69 weeks or even in 70 weeks. 24:45 "I've given you 70 weeks but Messiah is coming in 69 24:49 because Jesus Christ is the only One 24:51 that can make... finish transgression... 24:53 make an end of sins... 24:54 make a reconciliation for iniquity... 24:55 bring in everlasting righteousness... 24:57 finish the vision... 24:58 seal up the prophecy and anoint the Most Holy. 25:00 He's the only One that can do that. 25:01 Does that make sense? 25:03 Yvonne: Yeah. 25:04 Ivor: And... so... we... we can say this that in a sense 25:09 Israel did accomplish this 25:11 and what I mean by that is 25:13 if you look in... in the early part of Christ's life 25:18 when He was a child, 25:19 remember that He... 25:22 decree went out to have all the male, 25:24 you know, children killed under two years old, 25:27 so, they're going to Egypt 25:28 and the Bible says, "that it might be fulfilled 25:32 out of Egypt have I called My Son. " 25:35 James: Hmmm... 25:36 Ivor: So, the Bible is pointing to Jesus as Israel 25:44 and what you'll see is... 25:47 He basically lives the history of Israel... 25:49 He goes into the wilderness... 25:50 He crosses the Jordan... 25:53 just like Israel crossed the Red Sea... 25:55 He goes into the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights... 25:57 He is basically succeeding where Israel failed. 26:02 So, in that 70 weeks, He's baptized... 26:05 in that... in that 69th week or that period of 69 weeks, 26:11 Jesus fulfills what Israel could not 26:14 and He says, "Hey, as Israel... I did it, 26:17 now, if any man be in Me... He is an Israel 26:22 and has... and has fulfilled this in Me. " 26:27 James: Exactly. Yvonne: Wow! 26:29 Ivor: So, when Israel rejects it, 26:31 when Israel rejected Israel, guess what happened? 26:37 James: They were no longer Israel. 26:39 Ivor: They were no longer Israel... we have a problem 26:41 because now you're trusting in the flesh... 26:43 "We have Abraham as our Father... " 26:45 when Jesus was the Promised Seed 26:48 from all the way back in the Garden of Eden. 26:50 James: "And Abraham testified of Me 26:51 and if you believe Abraham, you believe Me. " 26:54 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... Ivor: Yeah. 26:55 James: That's it right there 26:57 so, the point now is we're making a transition... 26:59 this is a powerful transition. 27:00 Daniel chapter 9 transitions us from "us" to "Jesus. " 27:06 From Old Covenant to New Covenant... 27:08 from what we are supposed to do in a certain time 27:10 to what God has promised to do for us in a certain time. 27:13 Yvonne: Hmmm... 27:15 James: What's our job... what's our responsibility? 27:16 "As many has received Him, 27:18 to them gave He power to become the sons of God, 27:21 even them that believe on His name. " 27:22 James: He came to His own, His own received Him not 27:24 but as many as received Him, 27:26 to them gave He power to become the sons of God. 27:28 Jesus has accomplished everything that was stipulated 27:32 for Israel to accomplish 27:34 and He accomplished it as Israel... He is Israel... 27:37 He is the fulfillment of all of the promises... 27:39 all of the conditions are fulfilled 27:42 and taken care in Jesus... that's the point... 27:44 that's the message of the gospel... 27:46 that's the message of the everlasting gospel 27:48 and it's right here in Daniel chapter 9. 27:50 Yvonne: Wow! Jason: Hmmm. 27:51 James: Isn't that beautiful? Yvonne: Beautiful. 27:53 James: Praise God. Panel: Amen. |
