Yes, yes. 01:56 And Pastor John Dinzey, always good to have you. 01:58 It's a pleasure to be here. 02:00 I'm looking forward to it. Yes. 02:01 And the lady who is always ready 02:04 with a list, Jill Morikone. 02:06 Twelve points today. Twelve points today. 02:08 Oh, wow. 02:10 Well, make the first point and have our prayer for us. 02:12 Sure, absolutely. 02:14 Holy Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus. 02:16 Thanking You for the gift of grace 02:18 and the gift of Your Word, and the gift of Your Spirit. 02:21 And would You come just now, 02:22 anoint us and open up our minds and hearts 02:25 to your truth in Jesus' name. 02:27 Amen. Thank you. Thank you so much. 02:30 You know, when we talk about all future generations, 02:34 we think about all future generations 02:35 and only the Lord knows what is going to happen 02:38 to all future generations. 02:40 But speaking about the covenants, 02:41 God has made provision that every one of us 02:45 can be blessed 02:47 throughout generation after generation, 02:49 after generation, all the way into eternity. 02:53 The text for this week's lesson is a very short one, 02:56 but powerful when you think about sin and salvation. 02:59 Genesis 6:8, "But Noah found grace 03:04 in the eyes of the Lord." 03:06 Amen. 03:07 This story that Dr. Gerhard Hasel 03:09 began this study lesson with or this lesson study with, 03:13 it's profound, listen to it. 03:15 He talked about the analogy between bacteria and sin. 03:19 Listen to this. 03:20 Bacteria are plant organisms too small to see 03:23 without a microscope. 03:25 A single common round bacterium 03:27 appears no larger than a pencil point 03:31 even after being magnified 1000 times, 03:35 given favorable conditions 03:37 for growth, sufficient, warmth, moisture and food 03:40 bacteria multiply at an extremely rapid rate. 03:44 A mature cell simply splits into two daughter cells 03:49 when fission or exponential doubling takes place. 03:52 Every hour, one bacterium can produce 03:57 over 18 million new bacteria in 24 hours. 04:03 At the end of 48 hours, 04:05 hundreds of billions of bacteria will have appeared. 04:08 This microscopic phenomena 04:11 is the natural world's illustration 04:13 of the rapid growth of evil after the fall. 04:17 Wow. That's amazing. 04:19 So, friends, allow me to introduce you to sin, 04:22 the nemesis, the archenemy, the antagonist. 04:24 Sin has been around for a long time. 04:27 Sin lives in every community and every human heart. 04:31 Sin holds the patent for every evil creation. 04:34 Sin is tasteless, odorless, colorless, 04:36 but it will take your life in small doses. 04:39 Sin creates racism, but it's not prejudice. 04:42 Sin is an equal opportunity killer, 04:45 it excludes no one from the grave. 04:47 Sin does not love us like us, or could care less about us. 04:50 Sin wants us to live divided, derided and undecided, 04:53 but Jesus said He will save His people from their sins. 04:57 Amen. 04:59 That's the everlasting covenant. 05:01 This week at a glance are the five questions 05:03 that will be answered over the five day period. 05:06 What did sin do to God's creation? 05:08 That's what I'm going to be dealing with. 05:10 Pastor Ryan, what were 05:11 some of the characteristics of Noah? 05:14 What elements were involved in the covenant with Noah, 05:17 which will, Shelley Quinn will cover. 05:19 In what way has God's grace been revealed 05:20 in the covenant with Noah 05:22 before the flood, Pastor Dinzey? 05:23 And I believe Jill, 05:25 what does the covenant God made with humanity 05:28 after the flood teach us about His universal love for us. 05:33 How exponentially did sin multiply? 05:37 Genesis 6:5, the Bible says. 05:40 Genesis 6:5, the Bible says, 05:43 "Then the Lord saw 05:45 that the wickedness of man was great in the earth. 05:50 And that every intent of the thoughts of his heart 05:53 was only evil" how often? 05:55 "Continually." 05:58 When you think about that 06:00 compared to the divine declaration 06:01 at the end of creation with Genesis 1:31 says, 06:05 "Everything that God made indeed was very good." 06:07 You go from very good to every intent or thoughts, 06:11 only evil continually. 06:14 The exponential growth and doubling 06:16 or fission of the sin virus. 06:20 We find that simply all that happened 06:23 for this multiplicity of sin to envelop the earth 06:27 was the actions of one man. 06:29 Romans 5:12, 06:31 "Therefore just through one man sin, 06:33 just through one man, 06:35 sin entered the world and death through sin 06:38 and thus death spread to all men because all sinned." 06:42 What that means is, 06:44 it didn't take the sin of everyone 06:46 to reintroduce and reintroduce and reintroduce death. 06:49 But as in Adam 1 Corinthians 15:22, 06:52 "As in Adam, all die, 06:53 even so in Christ, all shall be made alive." 06:56 Wherever there is a downside in Adam, 06:58 there was an upside in Christ. 07:00 The wages of sin is death, 07:02 but the gift of God is eternal life 07:03 in Christ Jesus, our Lord. 07:05 Tell me about death, 07:07 but don't forget to tell me about life. 07:08 That's what the Bible is saying. 07:10 How could things get bad so quickly? 07:12 Sin grew exponentially. 07:15 That's the fission of sin. 07:16 With every birth, 07:18 the nature of Adam was replicated. 07:22 How amazing it must've been when Adam saw his first son? 07:26 His first son killed. 07:28 Cain killed Abel, and then 07:32 sin just took on an ignominious characteristic. 07:36 How difficult it must've been for Adam to bury his first son? 07:40 No funeral parlors, no embalming, 07:43 nobody to mourn his death, 07:45 just a mom and dad laying their son to rest 07:50 and an angry brother looking at what he had done. 07:54 The Bible didn't say he repented by any means, 07:56 but sin had taken his first toll on humanity. 07:59 An open door if you open the door to sin, 08:02 you cannot control what sin does after that. 08:05 Read Romans 6:16, Jill, if you can for me. 08:07 Romans 6:16, when you open the door to sin, 08:10 you cannot tell sin what to do after that. 08:13 Romans 6:16. 08:15 "Do you not know that 08:16 to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey 08:18 you are that one's slaves whom you obey, 08:21 whether of sin leading to death 08:22 or of obedience leading to righteousness?" 08:25 When the door opens to sin, 08:26 you cannot tell sin what to do and what not to do 08:29 because you become immediately a slave 08:32 and slaves never tell the master, 08:34 the master tells the slave. 08:37 Well, I know you don't want to be a slave to sin, 08:39 but I would love to be a slave to righteousness. 08:42 I'd love to be tied to the arm of someone where the, 08:45 where the fetters cannot be broken. 08:47 And all he has in mind for me is my best interest at heart. 08:50 Amen. 08:51 Not just my best interest, but the best he has to offer, 08:54 because I don't want some, I don't want somebody 08:56 that's just going to give me my best interest. 08:58 I want someone that will disclose to me 09:00 things that I have never even imagined, 09:02 and that person is Christ. 09:04 So, now let's look very quickly at the anatomy of the spread, 09:08 the anatomy of the spread. 09:10 Let's first go to Genesis 3:6, the anatomy of the spread. 09:14 We're going to watch this in eight parts, 09:17 Jill, eight parts. 09:20 The question is, how could things get so bad, 09:24 so quickly? 09:26 Genesis 3:6, "So the woman, 09:30 so when the woman saw that 09:31 the tree was good for food, 09:33 that it was pleasant to the eyes 09:35 and a tree desirable to make one wise, 09:38 she took of its fruit and ate. 09:41 She also gave to her husband with her and he ate." 09:44 Not saying that they were in the same vicinity, 09:47 but there was only one other person on the planet. 09:49 His name was Adam. 09:50 So the man with her, 09:52 the only other man with her was the one that 09:54 had the decision to make next. 09:56 And as we were reminded in Romans 5:12, 09:59 "He consciously with his eyes wide open 10:03 wasn't deceived as she was, 10:05 but he made the conscious decision 10:07 to open the door to sin." 10:09 The first stage in the anatomy of the spread, 10:13 Eve gave way to her desire, and Adam joined her. 10:18 The second thing, Genesis 3:11-13, 10:22 and he said, 10:24 that is the Lord came to Adam and Eve. 10:27 I want to just say something, praise God, 10:29 the Lord didn't wait for them to come to him. 10:30 Amen. 10:31 The beautiful thing about salvation 10:33 is Christ comes to us. 10:34 And He said, "Who told you that you were naked?" 10:38 He's asking Adam, because Adam said, 10:40 we were naked we hide ourselves. 10:42 "Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you 10:45 that you should not eat?" 10:46 Then the man said, 10:48 'The woman whom you gave to be with me, 10:50 she gave me of the tree and I ate.' 10:52 And the Lord said to the woman, 10:54 'What is this that you have done?' 10:56 And the woman said, 10:57 'The serpent deceived me and I ate.'" 11:00 The second stage in the anatomy of the fall is 11:04 no one likes to take personal responsibility. 11:08 That is true. That's what happened. 11:10 Now let's look at the third one. 11:12 The third one, 11:13 Cain ignored God's requirements, 11:15 Genesis 4:5. 11:18 Genesis 4:5, The Bible says in a very short passage, 11:24 "But he did not respect Cain and his offering, 11:27 and Cain was very angry and his countenance fell." 11:32 The third aspect of the anatomy of the fall is 11:36 God doesn't just take what you give Him 11:38 because in the covenant, 11:40 there are specific requirements. 11:42 We can't just serve God according to our pleasure 11:44 and our desires, 11:46 God says it A, B and C, 11:48 and it's got to be A, B and C. 11:50 And what happened here is Cain desired something 11:53 other than what God required. 11:55 What's the message? 11:57 The covenant of God is as specific as God 12:00 and God accepts no substitutes. 12:02 The fourth stage in the rebellion, 12:06 Genesis 4:8, 12:13 "Now Cain talked with Abel, his brother, 12:16 and it came to pass, 12:18 when they were in the field 12:21 that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother 12:25 and killed him." 12:26 What happens when we ignore the requirements of God? 12:29 We have no control over what the devil does next. 12:32 Once we yield to the power of sin, 12:35 someone else takes the controls. 12:37 When Cain yielded to the power of sin, 12:40 the person nearest to him, his brother became a victim. 12:43 Be careful, you can victimize those that are nearer to you 12:46 when you desire, when you desire not 12:48 to follow the requirements of God's Word. 12:51 When you follow the requirements of God's Word, 12:53 then those who are near to you 12:55 are safer than they would have been, 12:57 if you had done otherwise. 12:59 Point number five, Genesis 4:19, 13:02 what else happened when sin entered the world? 13:06 "Then Lamech took for himself two wives, 13:11 the name of one was Adah, 13:13 and the name of the second was Zillah." 13:15 Now, why is this a part of the anatomy of the fall? 13:19 Because polygamy was introduced through Lamech. 13:22 God never gave Adam two wives. 13:24 He gave him one wife. What happens? 13:27 Notice the continue breaking down 13:29 of the covenant of God. 13:31 We begin to modify it. 13:32 And then we begin to practice, but God never authorized. 13:35 Number six, what happens to Lamech? 13:39 Genesis 4:23, "Then Lamech said to his wives, 13:42 Adah and Zillah hear my voice wives of Lamech 13:45 listen to my speech for I have killed a man 13:48 for wounding me, 13:49 even a young man for hurting me." 13:51 Murder sets in at a higher stage. 13:53 The murder that began with Cain 13:55 continues to proliferate itself. 13:57 Number seven, Genesis 6:2, 14:01 "The sons of God saw the daughters of men 14:02 that they were beautiful, and they took wives 14:04 for themselves of whom they chose, 14:07 ungodly women united with godly men 14:11 and godly men were the ones that made the ungodly choice." 14:15 And number eight, 14:16 the earth was filled with violence. 14:18 Genesis 6:5, "Then the Lord saw the wickedness of man 14:22 was great in the earth. 14:23 And that every intent of their thoughts, 14:25 of their heart was only evil continually." 14:28 The fall, the anatomy of rebellion is all outlined 14:32 when we ignore the covenant of God. 14:35 Thank you so much, Pastor. 14:36 Praise the Lord. 14:38 Monday's lesson, "The Man Noah," 14:41 and I love this lesson 14:43 because it helps us to see that God, 14:45 you know, he chose 14:46 these wonderful people like Noah, 14:48 and obviously as pastor brought out very clearly, 14:51 he made a covenant with Adam and Eve. 14:52 He made a covenant with Noah as we're going to talk. 14:54 And he made a covenant with Abraham. 14:56 These were men of faith. 14:57 These were men 14:59 whom we can learn some lessons from. 15:00 And what Monday's lesson is doing is it's helping us 15:02 to kind of press the zoom button on the camera. 15:05 Not to so much focus in on the person of Noah, 15:08 but the God who is working obviously 15:11 through this man, Noah. 15:12 So we learned a little bit about what kind of man Noah was 15:16 in the context of this covenant conversation. 15:19 So, let's go to Genesis Chapter 6. 15:21 Pastor was already there, 15:22 but we're going to go to Genesis 15:24 and we're going to read 6:9, 15:27 and notice what the Bible says here about Noah. 15:29 It says, "This is the genealogy of Noah. 15:33 Noah was a just man," 15:35 of course, another version 15:37 may say righteous man, same thing. 15:40 "He was perfect in his generations 15:43 or he was blameless in his generations" 15:45 as another version might say, 15:46 and it says "that Noah walked with God." 15:49 And so what Monday's lesson 15:51 is doing is it's basically going in 15:53 and zooming in on those three concepts. 15:55 Then Noah was a just and righteous, man. 15:57 He was a blameless, a perfect man in God's eyes. 16:00 What does that mean? 16:01 And, of course, it says he walked with God. 16:03 And so we're going to look at that right now. 16:05 The Bible says that Noah was a righteous man. 16:08 He was a just man. 16:10 And so what does that mean for us 16:12 and within the context 16:14 of the conversation of covenant? 16:16 Because, of course, you cannot have a covenant 16:18 with the Lord unless 16:20 you are practicing righteousness, 16:22 unless you are living in righteousness. 16:24 And so Proverbs 12:20, 16:27 I have a few verses here that I, 16:28 there were so many I could have used 16:30 and I was having a hard time 16:31 picking which ones I wanted to use, 16:33 but I'm going to start with Proverbs 12:28, 16:35 which kind of sets the foundation. 16:37 Proverbs 12:28, the Bible says, 16:40 "In the way of righteousness is life 16:44 and in its pathway, 16:47 there is no death," right? 16:49 And so we, we see here that 16:50 we want to seek the way of righteousness 16:54 and the Bible even clearly communicates to us 16:56 through 2 Timothy Chapter 2, 16:58 we're going to kind of go a little quickly here 16:59 so you guys can get ready to turn those pages. 17:02 2 Timothy 2:22 communicates to us that this righteous way 17:07 in which there is no death, we need to be pursuing it. 17:10 It's something that we pursue, as God pursues us, 17:13 we also need to be pursuing righteousness. 17:16 And Noah was a righteous man. 17:17 He pursued righteousness so should we. 17:20 Again, 2 Timothy 2:22, the Bible says, 17:23 "Flee also youthful lust, but pursue righteousness, 17:27 faith, love, peace with those 17:30 who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." 17:33 If you are living in righteousness, 17:34 you're pursuing righteousness then, 17:36 kind of, as Jesus spoke of there in the, 17:39 on the Sermon on the Mount, 17:40 and He said very clearly that 17:42 He wants us to become pure in heart. 17:44 Blessed are those who become pure in heart, right? 17:47 And that's exactly what happens. 17:48 We become pure in heart 17:50 when we hunger and thirst for righteousness. 17:52 And that's what man, what Noah was. 17:55 He was a man of righteousness. 17:56 He pursued righteousness 17:58 and therefore he was pure in heart. 18:00 Where does this righteousness come from though? 18:03 Let's just ask that question and let's answer it. 18:05 Where does this righteousness come from? 18:06 Obviously from not ourselves, right? 18:08 The Bible makes it very clear that our righteousness 18:10 or anything that we could possibly muster up 18:12 or believe in and of ourselves that 18:15 we can produce that is righteous or that is right, 18:17 or that is just, obviously that's not the case. 18:20 The Bible describes it as filthy rags. 18:23 And obviously we know that 18:24 this righteousness must come from God. 18:26 Philippians 1:11, the Bible says, 18:29 "Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, 18:32 which are by Jesus Christ 18:34 to the glory and praise of God." 18:36 So where did Noah get his righteousness 18:39 even though the scripture says Noah was a righteous man, 18:42 was it something that he produced? 18:43 Obviously not. 18:45 He received this righteousness from God 18:47 because he was a just man. 18:48 He was a man pure in heart. 18:50 He sought the Lord daily. 18:51 He had a relationship, 18:52 a covenant relationship with God. 18:54 And in this case, 18:56 obviously he received that righteousness from God. 18:58 I love 2 Corinthians 5:21, one of my favorite scriptures. 19:02 I'll have to read it for you here. 19:03 2 Corinthians 5:21, 19:05 "For he made him 19:06 who knew no sin to be sin for us, 19:09 that we might become the righteousness of God." 19:12 Here's the key, in him, not through us. 19:15 It doesn't come from us. It comes from God. 19:16 Noah was a righteous man in God. 19:19 His righteousness came from the Lord. 19:22 And, of course, this righteousness 19:24 is the difference between life and death. 19:26 That's all that we're talking about here. 19:27 This righteousness 19:29 is the difference between life and death. 19:31 I love what Jesus says in Matthew 5:20, again, 19:34 going back to the Sermon on the Mount, 19:35 "He says, "For I say to you 19:37 that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness 19:39 of the Scribes and Pharisees, 19:42 you will, by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." 19:45 So what is Christ implying there? 19:47 He's saying, look, 19:48 you must have the true righteousness 19:50 that comes from God. 19:51 Not all of the things that you see on a horizontal level, 19:54 but on a vertical level, 19:55 we need to have our eyes on God as Noah, 19:57 the righteous man did. 19:59 He kept his eyes planted on God. 20:01 We also see that the Bible says here 20:03 in the same text again, 20:04 Genesis 6:9, that Noah was, 20:07 he was blameless, he was perfect. 20:09 Now what does that mean? Okay. 20:10 This is something that is very much debated 20:13 within the church today 20:14 because some people say, you know, 20:16 we got to be perfect and others say, 20:17 oh no, there's no way that we can be perfect. 20:19 But the Bible says that Noah was a perfect man. 20:22 What does that mean? 20:24 As I was studying this through, 20:26 my attention was drawn back 20:27 to one of my favorite texts, Romans 12:2, 20:31 which I believe gives us 20:32 some insight as to what this perfection means. 20:35 There is some context clues 20:37 that we need to pay attention to here. 20:38 Romans 12:2, Paul writes this. 20:40 He says, "And do not be conformed to this world, 20:44 but be transformed by the renewing of your mind 20:47 that you may prove what is that good 20:49 and acceptable and perfect will of God." 20:53 Noah was a perfect man 20:55 because he was not of the world. 20:57 In comparison to the world around him, 20:59 he did not live in the world. 21:00 He was not of the world. 21:01 He lived with his attention, 21:03 his focus and his whole being towards God. 21:07 And so in God's eyes, of course, we're never... 21:10 Noah was not of the world, 21:11 but we know, we know that he sought the will of the Lord. 21:14 And so in this case, you and I 21:16 will never, ever feel perfect in the eyes of others. 21:19 And we shouldn't be, right? 21:20 We should never even consider ourselves perfect. 21:22 But we know that in God's eyes, 21:24 if we are seeking the Word of the Lord, 21:25 we're living in the righteousness of Christ 21:27 and not the ways of the world 21:29 as we see here clearly spelled out 21:31 in Romans 12:2, 21:32 then we see clearly that we can live in 21:34 what is known as the perfect will of God. 21:37 Another one that comes to mind here is Hebrews 10:14. 21:41 Hebrews 10:14 says, "For by one offering, 21:44 he has perfected forever, 21:46 those who are being continual sanctified," okay. 21:51 Noah was perfect in the eyes of the Lord 21:53 because he was in a saving covenant relationship 21:57 with God each and every day. 21:59 In the eyes of the world, he wasn't perfect, 22:01 in his own eyes as it should be. 22:03 I don't wake up any day and say, 22:04 Oh, Ryan, look at you. 22:06 You're so perfect today. 22:07 You're just so, such a perfect Christian. 22:08 No, we feel like, you know, we feel like Paul, right? 22:10 We know we're the chief of sinners, 22:12 we're unworthy. 22:13 I'm sure that's how Noah felt, but in the eyes of God, 22:15 because he was walking in covenant relationship, 22:18 he was a righteous man, pure in heart. 22:20 God saw him as a perfect man walking in his perfect will. 22:25 The Bible says, "Noah walked with God." 22:28 Now whether you believe that is literal or not, you know, 22:31 it's possible, even though 22:33 it's not in the text that, you know, 22:34 there could have been some type of Christophany 22:36 where Christ appeared to him, 22:37 maybe in man flesh like form, Bible doesn't say that. 22:41 But it does say that he walked with the Lord. 22:42 I only said that because some people say, 22:44 well, that's literal. 22:45 You know, Enoch walked with God 22:47 and as God walked with Adam in the garden. 22:49 And so he did with Noah. 22:50 And whether you want to believe that or not, 22:52 that's not the point. 22:53 I think the greater point here, 22:54 the spiritual point is that each and every one of us 22:56 can still walk with God as Noah walked with the Lord. 22:59 Notice what Micah 6:8 says. 23:02 Micah 6:8, man, my time's getting away, 23:04 pray for that clock. 23:05 "He has shown you, O man, what is good? 23:08 And what does the Lord require of you, 23:10 but to do justly, to love mercy 23:13 and to walk humbly with your God?" 23:16 How many of you have walked physically with Jesus? 23:19 You and Jesus have met in the flesh and walk? 23:20 Okay. 23:22 Obviously none of us here on the Sabbath School Panel, 23:23 maybe there's someone out there that might say they have. 23:26 Nonetheless, we are still commanded 23:27 and encouraged to walk with the Lord, 23:30 spiritually walk with the Lord. 23:32 Romans 1:16 says, 23:35 "For in it," speaking of the gospel, 23:38 the gospel that Paul was unashamed of, 23:40 this is Romans 1:16-17. 23:43 And I'm reading verse 17, here it says, 23:44 "For, in it, the righteousness of God 23:46 is revealed from faith to faith. 23:49 As it is written, the just shall live by faith." 23:51 And faith to faith is communicating a walk, 23:53 a step-by-step daily committedness 23:55 and sanctification in the Lord. 23:58 I see 2 Corinthians 3:18, 24:00 "But we all with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror, 24:02 the glory of the Lord are being transformed," 24:04 how often? 24:06 "From glory to glory." 24:07 Again, it's just, it's a process. 24:09 It involves a process. 24:10 It takes time. It's a daily walk. 24:12 And, of course, 2 Corinthians 4:16, 24:15 "Therefore we do not lose heart," Paul says, 24:17 "even though our outward man is perishing 24:19 yet, the inward man is being renewed day by day." 24:23 That is the sanctifying spiritual walk 24:25 that each and every one of us should have. 24:27 The Bible says that Noah found grace 24:30 in the eyes of the Lord, because of all these things. 24:32 He was righteous. 24:33 He was blameless. He was perfect. 24:34 And he walked with the Lord. 24:36 I would encourage you to do the same, my friends, 24:37 we are in a covenant relationship with the Lord. 24:40 So walk with Him now while you still can. 24:43 Thank you, Ryan. Wow, that was... 24:45 Ooh, that come up with warmth and conviction, 24:48 but don't go away after the man Noah, 24:51 we're going to be coming back in just a moment 24:52 before we toss it over to Shelly Quinn. 25:00 Ever wish you could watch 25:02 a 3ABN Sabbath School Panel again, 25:04 or share it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter? 25:07 Well, you can by visiting 3abnsabbathschoolpanel.com. Shelley Quinn 25:35 under the title Covenant with Noah. 25:37 "Covenant with Noah," as you've already established 25:40 Noah was a just man, a righteous man. 25:44 He was man who trusted in God. 25:46 And he stood alone for God among all of his contemporaries 25:50 in the world that were so wicked. 25:53 And God comes and lets him know, 25:55 hey, I'm going to hit the reset button. 25:56 This is just too much. 25:58 And only Noah 26:00 and his family ended up being saved on the ark. 26:04 Let's look at Genesis 6:18. 26:07 This is the Lord speaking. 26:09 And He says, "But yeah, I'm going to hit the reset, 26:14 now I'm going to destroy this wicked world. 26:16 But I Lord will establish my covenant with you. 26:22 And you shall come into the ark, 26:24 you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you." 26:28 This is the first time the word covenant 26:33 is used in the Old Testament, 26:37 but it's not God's first idea of covenant 26:42 because we know Paul told Timothy, 26:45 God gave us grace in Christ Jesus 26:50 before time began, 26:52 before He even laid the foundation of the world. 26:56 Revelation 13:8 says that, "Jesus was the lamb slain 27:02 from the foundation of the world." 27:04 God knew with foreknowledge, He knew it was going to happen, 27:08 and He established 27:10 from eternity past this covenant of redemption, 27:15 and if you were with, 27:16 if you were with us last week, 27:18 we learned that covenant in Hebrew is berit 27:23 and it means to obligate or bind. 27:26 But we saw that God, there's two kinds of covenants. 27:30 There's covenants that's like a contract 27:33 between equal parties 27:35 that are going into a partnership 27:37 or a marriage covenant. 27:40 But then there is the covenant that is a will or a testament. 27:45 And it's interesting in the Greek, 27:48 the first is syntheke 27:50 that's between two people of equal power. 27:55 Let's say it that way, or diatheke, 27:58 and diatheke was the will or the testament. 28:01 It's always the word that is used for God's covenants, 28:06 whether in the Old or the New Testament. 28:08 So, what we are looking at here, 28:12 and I just think if we can get this in our mind 28:16 from eternity past God 28:18 had this covenant of redemption. 28:21 And what we see in scripture is He is gradually 28:26 unfolding His plan of redemption. 28:29 Do you remember when Jesus said to His disciples, 28:32 I've many more things to tell you, 28:34 but I can't tell you right now, 28:35 you're not ready. 28:37 Well, these people weren't ready. 28:38 So God is showing a little at a time 28:41 and let's look at this. 28:42 We saw that a covenant had several elements to it. 28:46 God affirms His promise right from the beginning saying, 28:51 this is My covenant. 28:53 This displays the grace of God, 28:56 the gift that He is going to either, 29:01 He's going to give it to Noah, 29:04 if Noah will receive it. 29:05 It is not a contract. 29:07 And let me tell you, 29:08 it is wrong ever to use the word contract 29:13 in the same breath with God's covenants. 29:15 God's covenants were never a contract. 29:19 It is not a union of equal partners. 29:22 Adam and Eve were to be beneficiaries of the will, 29:27 the testament of God. 29:30 And it did have a covenant obligation. 29:35 God's covenant is laid out all of His promises, 29:40 but then to enter into covenant with God, 29:44 there are some obligations and here it's that Noah 29:48 had to obey God when he gave him the call, 29:52 come into the ark. 29:54 If Noah and his family had not gone into the ark, 29:57 that covenant would have been null and void. 30:00 I mean, Noah would have perished 30:02 with everyone else. 30:04 So it's interesting when you think about this, 30:06 God explains I'm going to destroy the earth. 30:09 I am going to have this massive flood. 30:12 Well, it never rained. 30:15 He tells Noah, build an ark. 30:17 Noah had never seen an ark, 30:19 and not only did God tell him all of this stuff, 30:24 and not only did he save eight people, 30:26 he's going to save all of the animals 30:28 two of each of the unclean and seven of the clean. 30:33 So He tells Noah, lay up all this food. 30:36 Man, you talk about obedience. 30:39 This man who found grace with God, 30:42 walked in obedience, 30:43 which is what prepared him for this. 30:46 So Genesis 7:1 30:48 is God's first invitation in scripture to come. 30:52 And He says to Noah in Genesis 7:1, 30:57 "Come into the ark, you and all your household, 30:59 because I have seen that 31:01 you are righteous before me in this generation." 31:05 So this is a week before the flood. 31:07 God's calling them in. 31:09 Then God shuts them in. 31:10 He brings in the animals and everything. 31:13 And after seven days, 31:16 what happens, it's not that it just rains 31:19 for 40 days and 40 nights. 31:20 The scripture says that 31:22 the fountains of the great deep broke open. 31:25 So the water's coming up from underneath the earth 31:29 and the rains are coming down. 31:31 And I love this. 31:33 Hebrews 11 is one of my favorite chapters 31:36 because this is faith hall of fame. 31:40 And listen what Hebrews 11:7 says, 31:43 "By faith, Noah being divinely warned of things, 31:46 not yet seen, moved with godly fear. 31:50 And he prepared an ark 31:53 for the saving of his household, 31:55 by which he condemned the world and became," what? 32:01 "Became heir of the righteousness, 32:06 which is according to faith. 32:10 It has always been righteousness by faith. 32:14 It has always been salvation by grace 32:18 from the beginning of time. 32:21 So he entered into covenant by entering 32:24 into a walk of obedience. 32:26 And the means 32:28 by which God's covenant obligation is fulfilled. 32:32 It has always pointed forward to Christ. 32:36 Christ is our ark of safety. 32:40 He is our place of salvation. 32:44 Now, this is God's first call coming to the ark, 32:49 but it's not His last call. 32:50 Let me go through these quickly. 32:52 Exodus 24:12, the Lord said to Moses, 32:56 come up to me on the mountain and be there. 32:59 I will give you tablets of stone 33:01 and the law and the commandments, 33:03 which I have written that you may teach them. 33:05 Woo. 33:07 He's giving the law of love. 33:08 And by the way, 33:10 law in Hebrew means instruction. 33:12 So, the Ten Commandments is God's instruction of love. 33:17 Isaiah 1:18, 33:18 "Come now let us reason together, 33:21 says the Lord, 33:22 though your sins are like scarlet, 33:23 they shall be white as snow, 33:26 though their red is crimson, they shall be as wool." 33:30 Matthew 11:28 Jesus says, 33:34 "Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden. 33:39 And I will give you rest. 33:41 I will give you rest for your souls." 33:45 Mark 1:17, Jesus is looking around and He says, 33:50 "Come after Me, follow Me. 33:52 I'll make you fishers of men." 33:55 And then my favorite invitation from God when He invites us 34:01 to come to Him is Revelation 22:17, 34:06 "Then the spirit and the bride say, 34:09 come and let him who hears say come 34:15 and let him who thirsts come, whoever desires, 34:21 let him take of the water freely." 34:25 I want to say something to you. 34:28 This is to me. 34:31 And I know we all have certain topics we love. 34:34 This was life changing to me, the way God got my attention. 34:38 When He called me to full-time ministry 34:40 is He had me sit down 34:42 and do a study on the sanctuary. 34:44 And that led to a study on covenants. 34:48 It changed my life. 34:51 It was then that I learned 34:54 what faith and works have to do together. 34:56 What obedience and about the law of God. 35:00 If you will stay with us all this quarter, 35:04 as we go through this, 35:05 it is life changing to understand 35:10 that salvation is by grace. 35:12 The covenant of redemption is everlasting 35:15 and our God is calling to you, 35:20 inviting you to come. 35:24 Amen. Amen. 35:25 Well, this continues with the Wednesday's portion 35:29 and the "Sign of the Rainbow, 35:31 the Sign of the Rainbow" 35:33 and this based on Genesis Chapter 9 35:36 after the flood. 35:37 And so I say to you, you know, it's interesting. 35:40 I think just about everyone has seen the rainbow. 35:43 They are just so visible and they're just 35:47 a glorious manifestation of God's sign, 35:51 that He will not destroy the world again with a flood. 35:55 I even remember certain places 35:57 where I have been 35:59 when I saw a spectacular rainbow. 36:01 I remember driving down the road one time 36:03 and I just had to stop. 36:04 I just said, I have to take a picture of this 36:06 because it is a, again, a glorious manifestation, 36:10 a visible manifestation that there is a creator God. 36:15 Now, of course, people, scientists have come up with 36:18 how these rainbows are formed, 36:20 but God is the creator of the rainbow. 36:23 And, of course, I also know some, 36:25 most of you know, that 36:27 different groups have adopted the rainbow as a, 36:30 an emblem of their group or whatever they are, 36:33 but God is the originator of the rainbow. 36:35 And this is the truth 36:37 of God's covenant with His people. 36:40 Let's look in Genesis 9:12 36:45 because we have this question before us 36:47 is what did the Lord say the rainbow 36:49 would symbolize? 36:50 What does it symbolize? 36:52 Let's begin in verse 12, Genesis 9:12, and God said, 36:56 "This is the sign of the covenant, 36:59 which I make between me and you." 37:02 And notice, "And every living creature 37:05 that is with you," for how long? 37:08 "For perpetual generation." 37:11 This message is for us even today. 37:15 So, I encourage you 37:17 to continue looking at it in verse 13, 37:21 this is what God said, 37:23 "I set my rainbow," it's God's rainbow. 37:25 "I set my rainbow in the cloud, 37:27 and it shall be for the sign of the covenant 37:31 between me and the earth. 37:35 It shall be when I bring a cloud over the earth 37:37 that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud." 37:42 Now, I want to read to you 37:43 what some people description of a scientific description. 37:47 This is from Wikipedia 37:48 and there are many other places. 37:50 They say, a rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon 37:53 that is caused by reflection, 37:56 refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets 38:00 resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. 38:04 It takes the form of a multicolor circular disc 38:07 rainbows caused by sunlight, 38:09 always appear in the section of the sky 38:11 directly opposite the sun. 38:14 Now, most of us, as we look upon the earth, 38:17 we see just part of the rainbow, 38:19 but if you're in the sky way up there, 38:21 you can see the whole circle of the rainbow. 38:25 And it's a marvelous, marvelous thing. 38:26 There are pictures on the internet 38:28 and you can enjoy those. 38:30 Now, remember, 38:32 let's go back to Genesis Chapter 2, 38:34 because when the flood came it had not rained before. 38:39 So this is one of the reasons why the antediluvians 38:42 were making fun of Noah. 38:45 In Genesis 2:4-6, 38:47 God watered the earth in the way 38:50 it is described in Genesis 2:4-6. 38:53 "This is the history of the heavens and the earth 38:56 when they were created in the day 38:58 that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 39:00 before any plant of the field was in the earth 39:02 and before any herbal the field had grown, 39:05 for the Lord God had not 39:07 caused it to rain on the earth, 39:09 and there was no man to till the ground, 39:11 but a mist went up from the earth 39:13 and water the whole face of the ground." 39:16 So, even today, when you see great storms, 39:19 hurricanes, typhoons, whatever you call them, 39:23 often, you will see a rainbow in the sky as a reminder 39:28 that God has made this promise that 39:30 He will not destroy the earth with a flood. 39:33 Now let's look at the wording of Genesis 9:15, 39:38 because it's very interesting. 39:40 It says, "And I will remember My covenant, 39:43 which is between Me and you 39:46 and every living creature of all flesh, 39:49 the waters shall never again, 39:51 become a flood to destroy all flesh." 39:54 This is God's promise. 39:56 Now it's interesting that He says, I will remember. 40:00 It's like, it's a reminder. 40:01 I'm sure that most of you 40:03 have done something to remind yourself. 40:04 I heard of the people putting something on their finger. 40:06 I tried that for a while, didn't work, 40:08 but God doesn't need a reminder. 40:12 His mercy is everlasting. 40:15 He speaks to us in the language for us to understand. 40:19 So, when he says, I will remember 40:21 is so that when you see it, 40:23 you will remember that 40:25 God has made this promise to us. 40:28 Now, let's continue reading. 40:30 It says, "The rainbow shall be in the cloud. 40:32 And I will look on it to remember." 40:35 Notice the everlasting covenant 40:37 between God and every living creature 40:39 of all flesh that is on the earth." 40:41 And God said to Noah, 40:43 "This is the sign of the covenant, 40:44 which I have established between me and all flesh 40:47 that is on the earth." 40:48 So this covenant that God made with Noah, 40:51 it says for all generation. 40:54 So it is for us as well. 40:56 And I encourage you to consider the marvelous gift of the Lord. 41:00 So many ways God has in nature 41:04 and in different things, 41:05 tries to teach us and reach us, 41:09 telling us that He is our creator. 41:12 Now, there is another sign, 41:13 which we don't have time to get into it. 41:14 That God says, 41:16 "This is a sign between me and you." 41:18 And this is the fourth commandment. 41:21 This is why, 41:23 now God turns the tables around. 41:24 And He says, 41:25 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy". 41:28 Read that in Exodus 20:8-11, 41:31 a great blessing is in store 41:33 for those that keep God sign between Him 41:37 and between Him and us. 41:39 Now, I want to bring something out to you 41:42 because there is another rainbow 41:45 that I would like to mention to you, 41:46 and this wonderful rainbow is around God's throne. 41:52 So let's go quickly 41:54 to the Book of Revelation Chapter 4, 41:59 I'm going to read verse 2 and 3. 42:01 Revelation 4:2-3, notice, 42:06 "And immediately I was in the spirit 42:08 and behold a throne was set in heaven 42:12 and one sat on the throne and he that sat on 42:16 was to look upon like a jasper and a sardius stone. 42:20 And there was a rainbow round about the throne inside, 42:24 like on to an emerald." 42:26 So this rainbow round about the throne, again, 42:30 we see this sign of mercy, it's even at the throne. 42:35 I mean, there are so many scriptures 42:36 that come to mind that remember in Hebrews Chapter 4, 42:40 it says that Jesus Christ 42:42 was tempted in all points like us we are, 42:44 let us therefore come boldly, 42:46 and this is come with confidence 42:47 before the throne of grace. 42:49 It is a throne of grace that is still open for us today. 42:53 And I want to read to you from Desire of Ages, page 493. 42:57 Notice, beautiful. 42:59 The rainbow of promise encircling the throne on high 43:04 is an everlasting testimony 43:08 that God so loved the world, 43:10 that He gave His only begotten Son 43:12 that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, 43:16 but have everlasting life. 43:17 John 3:16, it testifies 43:21 to the universe that God will never forsake His people 43:25 in their struggle with evil. 43:27 It is an assurance to us of strength 43:30 and protection as long 43:33 as the throne itself shall endure. 43:36 And God's throne is eternal. 43:39 Praise be to God. 43:41 Now consider for a moment 43:42 that we are living in these last days. 43:46 And when we look at the world today, 43:49 it is quickly approaching the time of Noah's time. 43:53 And, you know, even for me looking around, 43:58 I said, there's so much wickedness around 44:00 and it's a marvel. 44:03 It's a marvel that God still has mercy upon us 44:06 and the door of mercy still open. 44:09 God could have it anytime 44:10 He say, I will destroy these people again with a flood 44:13 because they just don't seem to get it. 44:16 But God in His mercy is waiting at the door of your heart. 44:21 And He's saying, behold, I stand at the door and knock. 44:24 If any man hears My voice and opens the door, 44:26 I will come into him and sup with him and he with Me. 44:29 So I want to encourage you to consider the rainbow, 44:32 the everlasting, the sign of God's everlasting covenant 44:36 with this world 44:37 that He will not destroy this world with a flood. 44:40 And I am going to read something to you that is in 44:42 Friday's portion of the lesson, 44:45 from the story of Redemption, 44:47 page 71, this symbol, 44:50 the rainbow in the clouds is to confirm the belief of all 44:56 and establish their confidence in God, 44:59 for it is a token of divine mercy 45:03 and goodness to man 45:04 that although God has been provoked 45:07 to destroy the earth by the flood, 45:10 yet His mercy still encompass it the earth. 45:15 God's mercy is still available 45:18 to each and every one of us. 45:19 And I want to encourage you 45:21 to consider how good God has been to me. 45:24 And I marvel that it is because of His mercy, 45:28 that we have not been consumed. 45:30 Blessed be the name of the Lord. 45:32 Amen. Thank you, Pastor Johnny. 45:34 I like having Thursday lesson, 45:36 because I get to hear from everyone, 45:37 what we've been having church. 45:39 What a powerful study. 45:40 I have Thursday's lesson "Only Noah Was Left." 45:44 The opening scripture is Genesis 7. 45:47 So turn back to the Book of Genesis. 45:48 Genesis 7, of course, 45:50 we see that story of the great flood. 45:53 We know Noah and his family were obedient 45:56 and went into the ark when God said, come. 45:59 And then we see the flood take place in verse 23. 46:02 We're in Genesis 7:23. 46:04 So, he, that would be God, destroyed all living things 46:07 which run on the face of the ground, 46:09 both men and cattle, 46:11 creeping thing, and bird of the air. 46:13 They were destroyed from the earth. 46:15 Only Noah and those who were with him 46:17 in the ark remained alive." 46:21 This is the first time the concept of remnant 46:27 is introduced in the Word of God. 46:29 Remnant, that word remained alive comes from Hebrew. 46:34 It means to remain or be left over. 46:38 The word is she'-ar, 46:40 so we're going to hear this a lot. 46:41 So keep track of that word she'-ar. 46:43 It just means to remain or be left over. 46:46 Of course, the remnant would be 46:47 a small part that's remaining, a member or a trace 46:50 that's what the dictionary says 46:52 that is still remaining after an event. 46:55 It's even a piece of fabric, you know, 46:56 left on the bolt of the fabric at the very end, 46:59 that is that's unused. 47:01 That would be the remnant. 47:03 The remnant motif in scripture 47:05 reaches all the way from Genesis to Revelation. 47:09 It is found in every Old Testament book 47:13 and is used more than 47:14 540 times in the Old Testament alone, 47:17 the word remnant. 47:19 We see, of course, historical remnant. 47:21 This would be like those who were saved 47:23 from the flood, the remnant. 47:25 This would be those who made it 47:27 through the Babylonian captivity 47:29 and returned to Jerusalem. 47:32 That would be a remnant. 47:33 We also see a faithful remnant. 47:35 Those who like in Elijah's time 47:37 did not bow down the knee to Baal, 47:41 and they chose to honor God 47:43 and His covenant in the midst of prevailing apostasy. 47:47 And we see an ended time remnant 47:51 in the end of time, 47:52 those who keep the commandments of God 47:55 and the testimony of Jesus Christ, 47:57 who will be alive at the closing moments, 48:00 in the closing moments of earth's history. 48:02 So I want to talk to you today. 48:04 Here's the list of 12, 48:05 12 characteristics of a biblical remnant, 48:09 12 characteristics of a biblical remnant. 48:11 Now there's probably more, 48:13 but we're just going to do 12 today. 48:15 Characteristic number one, the remnant is delivered. 48:19 They are delivered from impending death 48:22 or destruction or in Noah's case, 48:24 a storm delivered from that storm, 48:27 from that death. 48:29 I think of Joseph and his brothers. 48:30 This would be Genesis 45:7. 48:34 Joseph is speaking to his brothers. 48:36 In Genesis 45:7, and he says, 48:39 "God sent me before you 48:41 to preserve posterity for you in the earth." 48:45 That word posterity comes from she'-ar, that word remnant, 48:50 residue, remainder. 48:51 God sent Joseph before to preserve 48:54 this remnant in the earth 48:56 and to save your lives by a great deliverance. 48:59 So characteristic number one, the remnant is delivered. 49:03 Number two, the remnant returns to God. 49:07 Isaiah 10:21, 49:10 "The remnant will return, 49:12 the remnant of Jacob to the mighty God." 49:16 The remnant returns to God. 49:19 Do you want to be part of the biblical remnant? 49:21 Know that God will deliver you. 49:24 Know that if you are part of the biblical remnant, 49:27 we will turn with our whole heart 49:29 and life to God. 49:31 Characteristic number three, the remnant will be gathered. 49:35 Isaiah 11:11-12. 49:39 Just jump over one chapter, Isaiah 11:11-12. 49:42 "And it shall come to pass in that day 49:44 that the Lord shall set His hand 49:46 again the second time 49:49 to recover the remnant of His people who are left." 49:52 I think in the first Exodus from Egypt and God delivered 49:55 His people and brought them out of bondage. 49:58 I think of the second Exodus 49:59 from Babylonian captivity and God delivered His people. 50:04 Again, that word again is from she'-ar, 50:07 the rest, residue, or remnant. 50:10 Characteristic number four, 50:11 the remnant rejoice in the Lord, their God. 50:15 I like this one, Isaiah 28:5, 50:20 "In that day, the Lord of hosts 50:21 will be for a crown of glory 50:24 and a diadem of beauty to the remnant of His people." 50:29 Did you catch that? 50:30 God's people, 50:32 His remnant will rejoice in God. 50:34 He will be a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty to them. 50:39 Characteristic number five, 50:41 the remnant rely only upon God. 50:46 Isaiah 10:20. 50:48 You see, we see a lot of the remnant motif 50:50 found in the Book of Isaiah. 50:53 Isaiah 10:20, 50:55 "And it shall come to pass in that day 50:56 that the remnant of Israel 50:59 and such as have escaped the house of Jacob 51:02 will never again depend on him who defeated them, 51:07 but will depend on the Lord, 51:09 the Holy One of Israel in truth." 51:12 So many times we depend on people. 51:15 We depend on false systems of worship. 51:19 Maybe you've depended on a fault system of worship 51:21 or you've depended on people, 51:23 or you've depended on shepherds, 51:25 who you thought were leading you into truth. 51:28 In that day, the remnant will never again 51:31 depend on him who defeated them. 51:34 Only they would depend on the Lord, 51:37 the Holy One of Israel. 51:40 The remnant relies only upon God. 51:44 Characteristic number six, the remnant will bear fruit. 51:48 Isaiah 37:31, "And the remnant 51:53 who have escaped the house of Judah 51:56 shall again take root downward 51:58 and shall bear fruit upward." 52:01 I find it interesting that the taking root downward 52:03 has to happen 52:05 before the bearing fruit upward takes place. 52:08 Meaning they need to be connected 52:11 with the vine, with Jesus. 52:13 As we discussed on a previous lesson, 52:15 I think it was last week Pastor John mentioned that, 52:17 being connected with a vine. 52:19 And then if you are connected, 52:21 you can bear fruit for His glory. 52:25 The remnant will bear fruit. 52:28 Characteristic number seven, the remnant is holy. 52:33 Isaiah 4:3, 52:35 "And it should come to pass that 52:37 he who is left in Zion. 52:39 That word who is left is that word she'-ar, 52:41 again, meaning to remain or be left over. 52:46 He who is left in Zion 52:47 and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy. 52:51 Everyone who has recorded among the living in Jerusalem, 52:55 the remnant are holy. 52:58 Not only that, the remnant, 53:00 this is characteristic number eight, 53:02 the remnant walk in obedience 53:05 to all of God's commandments. 53:07 Now we go to a New Testament word for remnant. 53:10 We're going to Revelation 12:17. 53:13 Revelation 12:17, 53:15 "And the dragon or Satan was enraged 53:19 and angry with the woman," 53:21 meaning the church, "and went to make war 53:23 with the rest of her offspring." 53:25 That word in Greek rest is that word for remnant. 53:29 King James says, the remnant of her seed 53:33 who keep the commandments of God 53:34 and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. 53:37 The remnant walks in obedience to God's commandments, 53:40 not one or two or three 53:42 or the ones that they think they should follow. 53:44 But the remnant walks in obedience 53:45 to all of God's commandments. 53:48 Characteristic number nine, 53:50 the remnant is fought against by Satan. 53:53 There is a battle. 53:54 And if you are a part of the remnant, 53:56 you're going to feel it 53:57 because Satan will fight against you. 53:59 The dragon was enraged with a woman 54:02 and went to make war with the remnant of her seed. 54:04 Characteristic number 10, the remnant need prayer. 54:09 Isaiah 37:4. 54:11 Now this is Hezekiah. He's the King. 54:14 And right now Jerusalem has a siege against it, 54:18 and they're in terror 54:20 and Hezekiah appeals to Isaiah the prophet. 54:22 And he says, "It may be that 54:24 the Lord your God will hear the words 54:27 of the Rabshakeh, 54:28 whom his master the king of Assyria 54:30 has sent to reproach the living God, 54:32 and will rebuke the words 54:33 which the Lord your God has heard. 54:36 Therefore lift up your prayer 54:38 for the remnant that are left.'" 54:42 The remnant needs prayer. 54:43 Number 11, the remnant is never alone. 54:47 Romans 11:3-4, now, this is Paul, 54:50 but he's quoting from the Old Testament. 54:52 And from this whole concept of Elijah. 54:55 Elijah says, "Lord, 54:56 they have killed your prophets and tore down your altars. 54:59 I alone am left." 55:01 That word she'-ar meaning remnant, 55:05 but what does the divine response say to him? 55:07 I've reserved for myself, 7,000 men 55:10 who have not bowed the knee to Baal. 55:11 And finally, number 12, the remnant are upheld 55:14 and carried by God Himself. 55:16 This one is my favorite. 55:18 Isaiah 46:3, "Listen to me O house of Jacob 55:22 and the remnant of the house of Israel 55:25 who have been carried by me from the womb. 55:28 Even to your old age, I am he, I will deliver you. 55:32 I have made, I will bear. 55:34 I will carry you." 55:36 Do you want to be carried by God Himself? 55:38 Be part of the remnant. Amen. 55:40 Thank you very much, Jill. 55:42 I think I'm going to carry on that thought 55:44 and I'll give you a chance to give you remnant thoughts. 55:47 Good one. 55:48 You know, Shelley and Jill both brought out words 55:51 that appear first in scripture, like covenant and... 55:55 Remnant. Yours was remnant, absolutely. 55:57 Well, Genesis 6:8 is the very first time 55:59 the word grace appears in Scripture. 56:02 And I just wanted to take this opportunity. 56:03 Just remind us that no matter how blameless 56:05 or righteous Noah was, he was also still a sinner, 56:09 we have to remember that 56:10 the fact that God showed him grace 56:12 says that he was a sinner in need of grace. 56:15 And that's no different than us today 56:16 that if we seek a righteous life in Christ, 56:19 then He will shone 56:20 or shine down His grace upon us. 56:22 Amen, and amen. 56:24 Some people think that 56:26 the Noahic Covenant is just a rainbow, 56:29 but we see in Genesis 6:18, that God says, 56:33 "I'm going to establish My covenant with you. 56:36 Get on the ark." 56:37 Not only was his family preserved by obeying 56:41 and getting on the ark, 56:42 but then they were given the provision 56:45 and the protection of a covenant relationship. 56:49 That's what God calls us to as well. 56:53 Amen. Amen. 56:54 I want to encourage you to consider God's rainbow 56:57 as His signature stating that He has mercy upon you. 57:03 And remember that the rainbow 57:04 round about the throne telling you, 57:07 I love you, come to me 57:08 and I will give you eternal life. 57:11 Do you feel that you are alone, 57:13 that there are 7,000 or a 100,000 people around 57:17 that don't follow God and don't walk with Him, 57:19 you are not alone, 57:21 you can be part of God's special remnant. 57:24 Yes. 57:26 And I'll tell you what a lesson study. 57:27 We were talking about, 57:28 how God remedies the issues for all future generations. 57:34 I want this thought to remain with you, 57:36 Romans 5:20, because mine was about sin, 57:40 and the Apostle Paul makes it so wonderfully clear, 57:43 moreover the law entered that 57:45 the offense might have bound, 57:47 but where sin abounded, grace abounded much more. 57:52 Thank you so much for joining us. 57:53 The future generations are secure, 57:55 but join us for a future lesson entitled, 57:58 "An Everlasting Covenant." 58:00 May God bless you until we see you again. |
