00:01 Hello, friends, I'm Jill Morikone,
00:02 and welcome again to 3ABN Sabbath School Panel 00:05 as we studied The Promise, God's Everlasting Covenant. 00:09 Hard to believe we're already on lesson number 11, 00:12 The New Covenant Sanctuary. 00:14 I assume by now you already 00:15 have your own copy of the quarterly, 00:17 but if you don't, you can always 00:19 go to the following website ABSG.Adventist.org 00:24 That stands for 00:25 AdultBibleStudyGuide. Adventist.org 00:28 So grab your Bible and your pen 00:30 and your paper and get ready 00:31 for this edition of 3ABN Sabbath School Panel. 01:05 We're so glad that you've taken time 01:07 from your day to join us for 3ABN Sabbath School Panel. 01:10 Last week we began our study of the New Covenant. 01:14 Looking at the connection between the old 01:16 and the new covenants, 01:17 both had the purpose of salvation. 01:19 Both were a covenant of grace, 01:22 both originated by God, both conditional on obedience. 01:28 That's His obedience, His grace, 01:30 His Spirit working in our lives. 01:33 And we also look at the word for New Covenant, 01:36 meaning a renewed covenant, 01:39 meaning this is same covenant that is renewed in our hearts 01:42 and in our lives. 01:44 Want to introduce to you our panel today 01:47 as we get ready to study New Covenant sanctuary. 01:50 To my left is Pastor Ryan Day. 01:52 Glad to have you here, Brother. 01:53 I'm excited. 01:54 It's a good blessing. Amen. 01:56 To your left Sister Shelley Quinn, 01:57 the New Covenant queen. 01:59 I love this study. Amen. 02:01 To your left, Pastor Johnny Dinzey. 02:03 So glad to have you here. 02:05 It's a blessing and a privilege to be here. 02:06 Amen. 02:08 Last but not least, sitting at the end, 02:10 Pastor John Lomacang, 02:12 and just delighted to have you here too. 02:13 Amen. We've been blessed so far. 02:15 And I think the Lord will bless us again today. 02:17 Amen. 02:18 Pastor John, would you pray for us 02:19 as we open up today? 02:22 Gracious Father, loving Lord, we thank You for the privilege 02:24 and opportunity to open a book that is far deeper than we are, 02:29 and we do pray that You will cause us 02:31 to ride upon the understanding that You impart to us even now. 02:36 Send Your Holy Spirit to expand our thoughts 02:38 and to open the doors where You desire to enter. 02:43 And may this lesson bring light and understanding 02:46 and a willing heart to embrace Your truth. 02:49 We pray in Jesus' name. 02:51 Amen. Amen. 02:53 The lesson opened up with a story of a gentleman 02:56 who was walking and it was a dark night 02:59 and it was really hard to see. 03:00 And he caught sight of another man over here. 03:04 And he called out, "Hey, are you Frank the printer?" 03:07 And the man turned around and said, 03:08 "Yes, I am Frank, and I am a printer. 03:10 But how do you know 03:12 who I am because I've never met you before? 03:14 And the man said, "I don't know you. 03:16 I've never met you. 03:18 But I know your brother very well. 03:20 I know his way of walking. 03:23 I know what he looks like. 03:24 I know what his mannerisms are. 03:25 And you reminded me so much of your brother 03:28 that I knew, 03:30 this must be Frank the printer." 03:32 It reminds me of the purpose of the Old Covenant 03:37 with the sanctuary service, 03:38 that type that meant its antitype in Christ Jesus. 03:42 We see the symbols, 03:44 they were a shadow of things to come. 03:47 But if you know and understand that, 03:50 then you see Jesus as the ultimate fulfillment. 03:53 Our memory text is Hebrews. 03:55 Hebrews 9:15. 03:56 I think this week, 03:58 we're going to spend quite a bit of time in Hebrews. 03:59 Hebrews 9:15 is our memory text. 04:02 "For this reason, 04:04 He is the Mediator of a new covenant, 04:08 or a renewed covenant, by means of death, 04:11 for the redemption of the transgressions 04:13 under the first covenant, 04:16 that those who are called may receive 04:17 the promise of the eternal inheritance." 04:21 Jesus' death ratified the Old Covenant, 04:24 the Old Covenant, the sanctuary system 04:26 was in type and the symbols 04:29 and the shedding of blood of the animals 04:32 was looking forward by faith to Jesus, 04:37 the Lamb of God. 04:39 Without shedding a blood 04:40 we know in Hebrews 9:22, there is no remission of sins. 04:44 Jesus' death also inaugurated the New Covenant. 04:49 His death fulfilled the claims of the law. 04:51 His death offered forgiveness and salvation to all. 04:55 We know in Hebrews 9-12 04:57 it's not with the blood of goats and calves, 04:59 but with His own blood, 05:01 He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, 05:05 having obtained eternal redemption. 05:08 And Christ Jesus is the guarantor, 05:11 He is the surety of this better covenant. 05:14 We see that in Hebrews 7:22. 05:16 So let's look at Sunday Sunday's lesson, 05:19 which is just called Relationships. 05:23 If we look at the relationship 05:25 between relationship of the covenant, 05:28 we've studied that all quarter 05:30 that it is like a parent and a child, 05:32 or a husband and a wife relationship. 05:35 Relationship is crucial to the covenant, 05:37 whether it's Old Covenant or New Covenant. 05:40 And whatever time or context that covenant was put forward, 05:44 relationship is always integral and central to the covenant. 05:50 You know, if I were to ask you, what do relationships require? 05:54 You might say any number of things. 05:55 There's certain website 05:57 I found mentioned seven key things 05:58 that relationships require. 06:00 I don't know, 06:02 there's a whole list of things you could say. 06:03 But I think it really boils down 06:05 to many of these boils down to communication. 06:08 This one website with the seven things 06:09 they said relationships required trust, 06:12 that's definitely true. 06:13 But trust is built partly by communication. 06:17 Relationships require vulnerability. 06:20 But vulnerability is partly built through communication. 06:25 Relationships require communication clearly, 06:27 and there's verbal and nonverbal clues 06:30 that we might give to each other. 06:31 Relationships require honesty. 06:35 And to be honest, that requires communication. 06:38 Relationships require loyalty and respect and affection. 06:42 But all of those things have some basis with communication. 06:46 What was the purpose of the Old Covenant sanctuary 06:50 or the sanctuary system in the Old Testament? 06:53 Now there's many purposes. 06:55 And I know as we go through the lesson, 06:57 people will be addressing some of that 06:58 the sanctuary service. 07:00 But I want to look at Exodus 25:8 07:02 for the purpose of our lesson today. 07:04 Exodus 25:8, "And let them make Me a sanctuary." 07:08 Why, what's the purpose? 07:10 "That I may dwell among them." 07:13 The word dwell in Hebrew, shâkan 07:16 just means to settle down, to abide, to dwell. 07:20 Jesus said, God said, I want to dwell, 07:24 I want to set up residence. 07:26 I want to settle down in a tent. 07:28 I want to tabernacle with the children of Israel. 07:32 You see, God has always desired a connection with us. 07:36 He's always desired to reside with us, 07:38 to dwell with us. 07:41 I think about Adam and Eve in the garden, 07:43 Genesis 3:8, they walked with God 07:45 in the cool of the day. 07:47 I think of Exodus 29:46. 07:50 If we think of this word dwell in connection with God 07:53 and His people. 07:54 Exodus 29:46, "They shall know that 07:56 I am the Lord their God, 07:58 who brought them out of the land of Egypt, 08:00 that I might dwell among them." 08:03 God wanted to settle down 08:05 and take up residence with His people. 08:08 We see the same thing in 1 Kings 6:13, 08:10 "I would dwell among the sons of Israel, 08:14 and will not forsake My people Israel." 08:17 The same thing in Zechariah 2:10, 08:20 "Sing for joy and be glad, O, daughter of Zion! 08:23 I am coming and I will dwell in your midst says the Lord." 08:28 All of those words are the same, 08:30 shakan, meaning to dwell, 08:32 to settle down, set up residence. 08:35 We see God wants to do 08:37 the same thing in the New Testament. 08:38 John 1:14, "And the Word 08:40 became flesh and dwelt among us, 08:44 and we beheld His glory 08:45 as of the only begotten of the Father, 08:47 full of grace and truth." 08:49 We see in the Old Covenant, God dwells with His people 08:52 through the sanctuary, by the presence of God 08:55 and the pillar of cloud. 08:57 We see in the New Covenant in the New Testament 09:01 when the covenant's renewed, 09:02 God dwells with His people in person 09:04 for a time being through the form of Jesus. 09:08 Then after Jesus ascended to His Father, 09:11 God dwells with us 09:13 through the power of the Holy Spirit. 09:15 We see that in 2 Corinthians 6. 09:17 Let's turn there, 2 Corinthians 6:16, 09:21 "And what agreement 09:23 has the temple of God with idols? 09:25 For you are the temple of the living God. 09:29 As God has said: 'I will dwell in them.'" 09:32 Now this is not just dwelling with them, 09:34 like he wanted with the Old Covenant 09:36 or the Old Testament. 09:37 He says, I will dwell in them, and walk among them, 09:41 I will be their God and they shall be My people. 09:44 Now I love that word temple in the Greek, its naos, 09:47 and it indicates a sacred dwelling place. 09:51 The classical Greek it referred to as sanctuary 09:53 or an inner sanctuary of a temple 09:56 where a pagan god would dwell. 09:58 So God uses the same word. 10:00 And He says, you, me, 10:02 God wants to set up residence in us 10:05 through the power of the Holy Spirit. 10:09 I love that analogy. 10:11 So in my closing time, 10:14 I want to give you three keys to the indwelling 10:17 of the Holy Spirit in our lives. 10:20 Key number one is to choose your master. 10:22 Let's look at Romans. 10:24 Romans 6:16," Do you not know that 10:28 to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, 10:32 you are that one's slaves whom you obey, 10:35 whether of sin leading to death, 10:37 or of obedience leading to righteousness?" 10:39 That just means every morning we say, 10:41 who do we want to serve? 10:42 Who do we want to obey? 10:44 Will it be leading to sin? 10:46 Or is it going to be leading to righteousness? 10:48 It depends on who dwells in us. 10:51 It depends on who sets up residence within us. 10:54 So look at this, if we look at Romans 7:17, 10:58 jump over one chapter of Romans 7:17, 11:01 "But now it is no longer 11:02 I who do it, but sin that dwells in me." 11:06 Did you catch that? 11:08 Sin is taken up residence, 11:09 and it's not even me doing the works. 11:11 It's because sin dwells in me. 11:13 And that is because I chose sin as my master, 11:16 I chose Satan as my master. 11:18 Or maybe I didn't choose God. 11:21 So by default, it switched to Satan's way. 11:25 But if you contrast that with Galatians 2:20, 11:28 "I've been crucified with Christ, 11:30 but it's not I who live, but Christ who lives in me." 11:34 So the first way when sin dwells in us, 11:36 it's not me doing the sinful actions, 11:38 it's because sin dwells in me. 11:40 But you contrast it, 11:42 it's not me doing the righteous, holy actions is 11:44 because Christ lives in me. 11:47 So the difference is, make a choice. 11:49 Choose your master, who will you serve? 11:52 The second key to the indwelling 11:54 of the Holy Spirit is to abide in him. 11:58 Turn to John Chapter 15. 12:01 I love this passage, John Chapter 15:5, 12:06 because the first key is just we need to choose 12:09 who we're going to follow. 12:10 We need to choose God, I want you in my heart, 12:12 I want you to dwell, but then we can choose. 12:16 And then we can go our own way, and we can push them out. 12:18 I don't know about you, 12:20 but I have clearly pushed him out of my life for times 12:24 and I know I have, God's called to my heart 12:26 and said, Jill, will you do this? 12:27 Will you follow Me? 12:29 Will you walk in my way and I say, 12:30 "I chose you this morning 12:32 but now this other path, 12:33 it looks kind of good to me right now," 12:34 because sometimes sin looks pleasant to us. 12:38 Okay, God, I want to go this way. 12:40 The key is, once you choose Him as your master. 12:42 The second key is to abide in Him. 12:45 When we abide, we abide continually, 12:49 not just choosing Him and then going our own way, 12:52 but allowing His strength, His grace, His power, 12:56 His Spirit, His anointing to continuously 13:00 flow through us. 13:02 John 15:5, "I am the vine, you are the branches. 13:06 He who abides in Me and I in him, 13:09 bears much fruit, 13:11 for without me you can do nothing." 13:13 So there's nothing of ourselves that we can do. 13:17 But abiding in Him, depending on Him, 13:20 surrendered to Him, 13:22 moment by moment, His power, His strength flows into me. 13:26 And key number three is just to behold Him. 13:29 2 Corinthians 3:18, "But we all with open face, 13:32 beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord 13:35 are being transformed into the same image 13:39 from glory to glory, 13:40 even as by the Spirit of the Lord." 13:44 Spend time in His work, spend time looking at Jesus, 13:48 spend time studying Him 13:51 and His character 13:52 and you will be transformed into His image. 13:57 Pastor Ryan. 13:58 Wow! Praise the Lord. 13:59 That was a great set-up. 14:01 Because I love the fact that this lesson kind of helps us 14:04 to dive a little bit into the sanctuary 14:07 to see the covenant promise from the sanctuary perspective. 14:10 And Monday's lesson doesn't let us down 14:12 because it's entitled Sin, Sacrifice and Acceptance. 14:16 And that's exactly 14:17 what we're going to be talking about. 14:19 We're going to be talking about, you know, 14:20 the effects of sin, how it dealt from the... 14:23 How it was dealt with from a sanctuary perspective. 14:26 And, you know, being that we're talking about 14:28 this new covenant, you know, 14:30 looking back sometimes helps us to appreciate what we have now. 14:35 And I want to start with Hebrews Chapter 9. 14:37 Let's go to Hebrews Chapter 9. 14:39 There's lots to say and a little time to say it. 14:42 Hebrews Chapter 9, and we're going to be 14:44 making our way to verse 22. 14:46 But I want to start with verse 16. 14:49 So the Bible says Hebrews, in Hebrews Chapter 9, 14:51 beginning with verse 16, 14:52 it says, "For where there is a testament, 14:54 or in this case a will, there must also of necessity 14:58 be the death of the testator, or in this case the will maker. 15:03 For a testament is enforced after men are dead, 15:06 since it has no power at all, while the testator lives. 15:11 Therefore, not even the first covenant 15:14 was dedicated without blood. 15:17 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people 15:21 according to the law, 15:22 he took the blood of calves and goats with water, 15:26 scarlet wool and hyssop, 15:28 and sprinkling both the book itself 15:30 and all the people saying, 15:33 'This is the blood of the covenant, 15:35 which God has commanded you. 15:37 Then likewise, he sprinkled with blood, 15:41 both the tabernacle 15:42 and all the vessels of the ministry." 15:45 And then here's verse 22. 15:46 "And according to the law 15:48 almost all things are purified with blood, 15:52 and without shedding of blood 15:54 there is no remission of sins." 15:57 And when you study the sanctuary perspective, 16:00 so from a sanctuary perspective, 16:01 you know, that is the case. 16:03 And you know, I just can't imagine 16:05 because considering, you know, 16:06 we're so blessed to live in a time 16:09 in which all of that has been done away 16:11 with in the sense that now we can just depend 16:13 on the shed blood of Jesus Christ 16:15 that has already been shed, right? 16:17 We can look unto Him, 16:19 the author and finisher of our faith 16:20 and know that He has already completed 16:23 that sacrificial work. 16:24 And, but I just want 16:26 to just take kind of a step back 16:27 and look from a sanctuary perspective. 16:29 Because could you imagine being a sinner living back 16:33 in the biblical days 16:34 during the Hebrew sanctuary time, 16:36 and you need forgiveness of sin, 16:38 you know that that sin is applied to you 16:40 because you've committed sin. 16:42 And now you need cleansing of that sin. 16:43 You need forgiveness of that sin. 16:45 And how do you get it? 16:47 Well, you got to take either a bullock, 16:50 a goat, a lamb, a dove, a pigeon of some kind, 16:54 and you got to take that long, 16:56 half a mile walk of shame, from closest tent, 16:59 all the way out to the sanctuary. 17:01 You can imagine that 17:02 as the men were walking across that, 17:05 that plain there, 17:06 making their way to the sanctuary, 17:07 all the people from all the tribes could look, 17:10 and they could see across, oh, there goes Bob, 17:12 he must have sinned, he's going to get forgiveness, 17:15 you know, he's going to present his offering, 17:16 his sin offering. 17:18 And, by the way, 17:19 there were many, many different offerings 17:20 in the sanctuary service, just to mention a few, 17:23 the burnt offerings 17:24 which were really the main ones, 17:25 of course, the food offerings, 17:27 the peace offerings, there were sin offerings, 17:28 and there were also trespass offerings as well. 17:32 But, you know, they walk across that open plain, 17:36 and they're making their way to the sanctuary 17:37 and they're going to meet the priest that serve, 17:41 the priest who's serving that day, 17:43 they're going to meet the priests 17:44 at the door of the sanctuary. 17:46 And there that sinner, 17:48 the sinner is going to take their hands 17:50 and they're going to place it upon the head 17:51 or up on the body of that animal. 17:53 In this case, we're going to use the lamb 17:54 as an example. 17:55 They're going to place their head, 17:57 their hands upon the head of that little lamb. 17:59 And they're going to confess their sins, 18:02 signifying that the record of sin 18:04 is now transferred from the sinner 18:07 now to the lamb. 18:08 But then after the record of sin 18:10 is now symbolically transferred from the sinner to that lamb, 18:13 after they have confessed of their sins, 18:15 now they've got to take the life of that animal, 18:18 they're going to spill the blood of that animal. 18:20 And in the process 18:22 of taking the life of that animal, 18:23 the priest there is going to catch 18:25 some of that blood 18:26 in some type of receiver of some kind, 18:28 a bowl or a large basin 18:30 or cup or something, 18:31 they're going to catch that blood again, 18:33 because again, life according to Leviticus 17:11, 18:37 the life is in the blood, right? 18:39 Why does there need to be the shedding of blood? 18:41 Because life, the life of that person, 18:43 or that animal in this case, is in the blood. 18:45 And so they're offering that signifying that 18:49 the sin is now went from the sinner to the lamb, 18:53 now to the blood. 18:54 And it's interesting what happens 18:56 because a lot of people think that the, 18:58 the person offering this lamb, that they just take the life, 19:00 you know, cutting of the throat of the animal, 19:02 or, you know, taking the life and just walk away, 19:04 but they also had to fillet this animal out. 19:06 They had to separate its inward parts 19:08 from certain other parts, 19:09 because they're going to offer this as 19:10 whether it be as trespass offering 19:12 or sin offering, 19:13 it's going to be offered as some type of burnt offering. 19:16 And that priest is going to take that blood, 19:18 and he's going to go to that altar 19:20 of burnt sacrifices. 19:21 And he's going to sprinkle that blood upon the altar 19:24 all around about the altar, 19:26 and he's going to touch it to the four corners, 19:27 the four horns of that altar, 19:29 and what is left over after the sprinkling process, 19:31 he's going to take the rest of that blood, 19:33 and he's going to pour it 19:34 all around the base of that altar. 19:36 And we know that altar points to who? 19:38 What does it represent? 19:39 It points at all points to Jesus Christ 19:41 who takes away the sin of the world, right? 19:43 He is the Lamb of God, signifying again, 19:46 that the record of sin has transferred 19:48 from the person to the lamb, to the blood, 19:50 and now that blood, 19:51 that sinful blood for the sake of, 19:53 you know, for illustration purposes, 19:55 is now transferred into that sanctuary service 19:59 where it has now been placed into the hands of God. 20:01 Only God can deal with that sin issue now. 20:05 And, of course, there were instances where, 20:07 of course, the high priest, 20:08 whether it was on behalf of the nation, 20:09 or if it was on behalf of himself, 20:11 or other individuals would sometimes go 20:14 into the holy place of the sanctuary. 20:16 And they would also touch the blood 20:18 to the four corners of the horns 20:20 of the altar of incense. 20:22 And they would also sprinkle the blood about the veil there. 20:25 And it's... 20:26 I mean, this was just for 359, 360 days, 20:31 we'll just go ahead and say, 20:32 'cause there were 360 days in a Jewish year, 20:35 the blood and the sin, 20:37 we're going to say the sin blood is coming in 20:39 into the sanctuary 359 days out of the 360 day year period. 20:45 And on that 360th day, 20:47 God is going to deal with that record of sin. 20:49 Of course, we know this 20:51 within the context of the Day of Atonement, 20:53 just to kind of illustrate that 20:55 and to get that in our mind. 20:56 This was the process of forgiveness of sin. 20:59 If you wanted forgiveness of sin, 21:00 this is what you had to go through. 21:02 It was a bloody mess. 21:05 But we have a promise, 21:06 because as Jill brought out very clearly, 21:08 Jesus was the antitype, okay? 21:11 All they were doing was doing it 21:12 for the purpose of looking forward. 21:15 Those were shadows of things 21:16 looking forward to Jesus Christ 21:18 to his ultimate fulfillment of the covenant. 21:20 He would be the great sacrifice. 21:22 I want us to go to Isaiah 53. 21:23 We see again, a beautiful, 21:25 almost poetic description of this 21:29 as it is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, 21:31 the ultimate Lamb of God 21:33 who takes away the sin of the world. 21:34 Isaiah 53:4. 21:37 The Bible says, "Surely he has borne our griefs 21:41 and carried our sorrows, 21:42 yet we esteemed him stricken, 21:44 smitten by God, and afflicted. 21:47 But he was wounded for our transgression, 21:49 he was bruised for our iniquities, 21:52 the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, 21:55 and by His stripes we are healed." 21:58 You see, before Christ had come, 22:00 they had to look to that little lamb, 22:01 they had to look to the taking of the life 22:03 and the complete slaying 22:06 and literal filleting of that animal as God asked them 22:09 to do in the appropriate manner 22:11 for the sacrifice and offering of sin. 22:14 In this case, Christ fulfilled all of it. 22:16 He was that ultimate sacrifice. 22:18 Looking on to verse 6. 22:19 It says, "All we like sheep have gone astray, 22:21 we have turned everyone to his own way. 22:24 And the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 22:28 He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, 22:30 yet He opened not His mouth, 22:32 He was a led, here it is, 22:33 as a lamb to the slaughter 22:36 and as a sheep before it shearers is silent. 22:38 So He opened not His mouth. 22:40 He was taken from prison and from judgment, 22:43 and who will declare His generation? 22:46 For he was cut off from the land of the living, 22:49 for the transgressions of My people, He was stricken." 22:53 I love this verse. 22:54 Let's skip down to verse 12 here. 22:55 "Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, 22:58 and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, 23:00 because He poured out 23:02 His soul unto death, and He was numbered 23:04 with the transgressors, He bore the sin of many, 23:07 and He became intercession for the transgressors." 23:11 We look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, 23:13 because for our sin, He died, He was the sacrifice 23:18 and it is only through Christ 23:19 that we are accepted into the lineage of Christ. 23:22 When we accept Jesus Christ, 23:24 we become the seeds of Abraham heirs, 23:26 according to the promise. 23:28 And I love this message 23:29 because when you consider it from a sanctuary perspective, 23:32 you learn to really appreciate the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. 23:36 You really appreciate the New Covenant fulfillment 23:39 in Jesus Christ. 23:40 And for without the shedding of blood 23:42 there is no remission of sin. 23:43 But praise the Lord, 23:44 there is no need for any more bloodshed, 23:47 because Jesus Christ has already shed 23:48 His perfect blood for us. 23:50 He became sin for us that we might have life in Him. 23:56 Amen. Thank you so much Ryan. 23:58 Sin, sacrifice and acceptance, I love that, great study. 24:02 Don't go away. We'll be right back. 24:10 Ever wish you could watch 24:11 a 3ABN Sabbath School Panel again, 24:13 or share it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter? 24:16 Well, you can by visiting 3abnsabbathschoolpanel.com 24:21 A clean design makes it easy to find the program 24:25 you're looking for. 24:26 There are also links to the Adult Bible Study Guide 24:29 so you can follow along. 24:31 Sharing is easy. 24:32 Just click share 24:34 and choose your favorite social media. 24:36 Share a link, save a life for eternity. 24:40 Welcome back to our study on New Covenant sanctuary. 24:43 we'll Toss it to Shelley in Tuesday's lesson. 24:45 Thank you so much. 24:47 Today's lesson is The Substitution. 24:51 Jesus Christ, I should say 24:53 God came down to become the Son of man, 24:57 to unite with humanity become the Son of man 25:00 in the person of Jesus Christ, 25:03 and He became the Son of God, 25:05 that He might be our substitute, 25:11 not only to redeem us, but to reconcile us 25:14 and restore the relationship with God. 25:17 He died on Calvary's cross to pay the sin for our death. 25:22 And I have to say this, 25:24 salvation we've been talking is only by grace. 25:29 But why is that so difficult for man to accept? 25:33 You know, it is, it seems like man wants, 25:36 the pride of man wants to do something 25:39 to help save themselves. 25:41 Humans struggle to accept salvation by grace, 25:45 God's unmerited favor. 25:48 And humanity always kind of gets off 25:51 into a performance mentality, don't they? 25:53 But I have to say this. 25:55 All false religions are based on 26:00 salvation by works. 26:03 All false religions. 26:05 Even Christians will fall 26:08 into the trap of grace plus. 26:12 The early misguided believers 26:14 who came to the Galatian church said, 26:17 "Oh, yeah, we're saved by grace, 26:19 but you got to be circumcised, grace plus." 26:23 And what grace plus does is, 26:27 anytime we add to the covenant of God, 26:30 we are creating a false security 26:33 in our works and a mistrust in God. 26:35 Let me read this paragraph from Ellen G. White, 26:39 The Faith I Live By, page 100. 26:42 "It is not God's will that you should be distrustful 26:45 and torture your soul with the fear that 26:47 God will not accept you 26:49 because you are sinful and unworthy. 26:52 You can say, I know I am a sinner. 26:56 And that is the reason I need a Savior. 26:58 I have no merit or goodness, whereby I may claim salvation, 27:03 but I present before God, 27:05 the all atoning blood of the spotless Lamb of God, 27:10 which taketh away the sin of the world. 27:13 This is my only plea." 27:17 End of the quote. 27:19 The religion of grace plus is legalism. 27:23 Anytime we are walking in our own power, 27:27 under our own rules to earn God's favor. 27:31 And legalism has a tendency 27:35 that kind of reemerges over time. 27:39 And it will taint the everlasting gospel of God. 27:44 It nullifies it. 27:46 It's just like, 27:47 if I have a clear bottle of water here, 27:49 and I put just one little drop of arsenic, 27:54 how much of the content of this bottle is ruined? 27:57 It's all ruined, is it not? 27:59 Paul calls any grace plus a different gospel. 28:04 So Galatians 1:4 says, 28:06 "That Christ gave Himself for our sins, 28:09 that He might deliver us from this present evil age, 28:13 according to the will of our God and Father." 28:15 And we know that the will of God is that 28:18 all men would come to the knowledge of truth 28:21 and be saved is what it says in 1 Timothy 2:4. 28:27 Because of our sins, 28:28 we deserve the penalty of death. 28:30 But Christ came to voluntarily be the substitute. 28:36 His standing in to take our sins 28:41 is the core truth of the gospel, 28:43 His death and resurrection. 28:45 Real quickly, why did He have to shed His blood? 28:49 He shed His blood to ratify the New Covenant, to redeem us. 28:55 He shed His blood to reconcile us 28:58 and restore our relationship with God. 29:00 He shed His blood to cleanse us from our sin. 29:04 Let's see how fast we can go through that. 29:06 We've seen in the Old Testament 29:08 you just got through reading this from, 29:10 even Hebrews mentions, 29:12 how was the Old Covenant ratified? 29:15 Moses had a sacrifice, 29:18 sprinkle the book of the covenant, 29:20 sprinkle the blood on the people 29:23 and on the book. 29:24 Well, Jesus says in Matthew 26:28, 29:28 "This is the blood, My blood of the new covenant 29:32 which is shed from the remission of sins." 29:37 And in Hebrews 13:20 calls 29:39 "His blood, the blood of the everlasting covenant." 29:45 It is God's plan of redemption. 29:49 He was foreordained as the Lamb of God 29:52 before the foundation of the world. 29:54 Now, if we look at Hebrews 9:12, 29:58 it says, "Not with the blood of goats and calves, 30:00 but with His own blood 30:03 He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, 30:06 having obtained eternal redemption." 30:11 The completeness 30:13 of Christ's sacrificial substitutionary death 30:18 is it's His atoning work, it's done. 30:22 He shed His blood to redeem us, Romans 3:21-23, 30:27 "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, 30:30 being justified freely by His grace, 30:32 through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." 30:36 That means redemption is to pay the price 30:38 to buy you out of the bondage of the slavery to sin. 30:42 And it says in verse 25, 30:44 "Whom God set forth 30:46 as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, 30:52 to demonstrate His righteousness." 30:54 Did you know God became a human 30:56 so that He could become our kinsman redeemer? 31:01 We were sold into slavery. 31:03 We needed someone to come rescue us, 31:07 and Christ paid the price. 31:10 He bought us out of the curse of sin. 31:13 He defends us, He vindicates us. 31:16 Our maker, our creator, became our redeemer, 31:21 our deliverer, our kinsmen redeemer. 31:25 He substituted His life for ours. 31:31 Now, 1 Peter 1:18-23. 31:35 I love this scripture, 31:38 because the death that Christ died was 31:40 what we deserved. 31:42 But Christ satisfied God's wrath against sin, 31:48 while He was on the cross. 31:51 1 Peter 1:18, "Knowing that 31:52 you were not redeemed with corruptible things, 31:55 like silver and gold, 31:56 from your aimless conduct, 31:58 but with the precious blood of Christ." 32:02 That's, you know what, if anybody's ever told you, 32:05 you're not worth anything, 32:07 I want you to know something, 32:09 you are worth nothing less than the price 32:11 that He paid to redeem you with His own precious blood. 32:17 And it says, "He indeed was foreordained 32:20 before the foundation of the world. 32:23 He was a Lamb slain 32:24 from the foundation of the world. 32:26 But He was made manifest to you in these last days. 32:30 His shed blood reconciles us and restores our relationship." 32:36 Galatians 1:20. 32:37 It says, "By him to reconcile all things to himself, 32:41 whether on earth or in heaven, 32:44 having made peace through the blood of His cross." 32:49 See, we're not at peace with God 32:51 when we're walking in sin. 32:53 And it's, its one thing to be forgiven of your sins, 32:57 but to have the relationship restored. 33:00 That's what reconciliation is, is a restored relationship. 33:04 And that's why Hebrews 10:19 says that 33:08 "We have the boldness to enter into the Holiest 33:13 before the Lord God's throne by the blood of Jesus, 33:18 and He shed His blood to cleanse us from sin." 33:22 Revelation 1:5 says, "He loved us and washed us 33:25 from our sins by His own blood." 33:27 Hebrews 9:22 says, "According to the law, 33:31 there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood." 33:35 But there's more than just cleansing our record. 33:38 Look at what Hebrews 9:14 says, "He washes our consciences. 33:45 How much more shall the blood of Christ 33:47 who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself 33:51 without spot to God, cleanse your conscience 33:53 from dead works to serve the living God?" 33:57 Oh, praise God for the substitution. 34:01 He as our substitute delivered us 34:05 from the guilt of sin. 34:06 He delivered us, 34:08 helps us overcome the grip of sin. 34:11 He reconciled us to God restored our relationship. 34:15 He imputes His righteousness to him 34:17 and by His blood, 34:18 we're accepted righteous by faith, 34:21 He provided access to God 34:23 and He provides a secure future with God. 34:30 I just have to say one thing. 34:32 Remember this. 34:34 Christ is the one who will help you overcome 34:39 because He empowers you to obey 34:41 and walk in righteousness, 34:43 even grace or obedience 34:47 is by grace. 34:50 Amen. Amen. 34:52 Well, we moved to Wednesday's portion. 34:54 And now we have the topic, The New Covenant High Priest. 34:59 The New Covenant High Priest. 35:01 So join me now as we look at this day. 35:05 And there's a message here in the lesson 35:09 that is very important. 35:10 So I'm going to read it. 35:13 The earthly sanctuary where God chose to dwell 35:16 with His people centered around 35:18 the sacrifice of the animals. 35:20 Yet, the service did not end 35:23 with the death of these creatures. 35:26 The priest ministered the blood in the sanctuary 35:30 on behalf of the sinner, 35:32 after the sacrifice itself was killed. 35:36 You heard Pastor Ryan speak about this, 35:38 this whole service however was only a shadow, 35:42 a symbol of what Christ would do 35:44 for the world. 35:45 Thus, just as the symbols of the sanctuary service 35:49 did not end with the death of the animal, 35:52 Christ's work for us did not end with His death 35:56 on the cross either. 35:58 This is why I want to ask you 36:00 to turn with me to Romans 5:8-10. 36:03 Let's take a look at this. 36:06 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that 36:11 while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, 36:16 much more than having now been 36:19 justified by His blood, 36:22 we shall be saved from wrath through Him." 36:25 Notice, His blood just defies us. 36:28 Now notice verse 10, very important. 36:31 "For if when we were enemies, 36:33 we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, 36:37 His death reconciles us much more, 36:40 having been reconciled we shall be saved by His life." 36:46 Praise the Lord. Amen. 36:48 Hallelujah. What does this mean? 36:50 We are saved, yes, 36:51 by the righteous life of Christ, 36:53 but His life after His death as our high priest. 36:57 So, notice in Leviticus Chapter 4, 37:01 I got to read this quickly, Leviticus Chapter 4. 37:03 What happens when... 37:05 This was described by Pastor Ryan, 37:07 but I'm going to read the verses quickly. 37:09 Leviticus 4:3. 37:12 Notice, if the priest, this is an example. 37:14 "If the priest that is anointed, 37:16 do sin according to the sin of the people, 37:18 then let him bring for his sin, 37:20 which he had sinned, 37:22 a young bullock without blemish, 37:24 unto the Lord for a sin offering." 37:26 Had to be without blemish, because Christ was without sin. 37:30 "And he shall bring the bullock unto the door of the tabernacle 37:33 the congregation before the Lord, 37:35 and shall lay his hand upon the bullock's head 37:37 and kill the bullock before the Lord. 37:40 And the priests that is anointed 37:41 shall take up the bullock's blood 37:43 and bring it into the tabernacle 37:46 of the congregation." 37:47 He had to go inside with this blood. 37:50 "And the priest 37:51 shall dip this finger in the blood 37:53 and sprinkle of the blood seven times 37:55 before the Lord 37:57 before the veil of the sanctuary. 37:59 So, the death of Christ on the cross, 38:04 if it stopped there was not a complete service 38:08 in the sense that the blood 38:11 had to be taken into the heavenly sanctuary. 38:14 Understand this. 38:16 Let's look at this quote from Great Controversy, 38:20 page 489, presented in better words than I can. 38:25 The intercession of Christ 38:27 in man's behalf in the sanctuary 38:30 above is as essential to the plan of salvation 38:34 as was His death upon the cross. 38:37 By His death, He began that work 38:39 which after His resurrection, 38:41 He ascended to complete in heaven. 38:44 We must by faith enter within the veil, 38:47 whither the forerunner is for us entered. 38:49 Hebrews 6:20. 38:50 "There the light from the cross of Calvary 38:52 is reflected. 38:53 There we may gain a clearer insight 38:56 into the mysteries of redemption. 38:58 The salvation of man is accomplished 39:00 at an infinite expense to heaven, 39:03 the sacrifice made is equal 39:05 to the broadest demands of the broken law of God. 39:08 Jesus has opened the way to the Father's throne, 39:12 and through His mediation the sincere desire of all 39:16 who come to Him in faith may be presented before God." 39:19 Great Controversy, page 489. 39:22 So I praise the Lord for what 39:24 Jesus has done for us and continue to do for us. 39:28 Please understand that His sacrifice on the cross 39:31 was a complete sacrifice. 39:34 It was what was needed. 39:37 He had to die for our sins. 39:39 And then I want to talk about Jesus, 39:42 we have limited time. 39:43 We have to understand that Jesus came to this world, 39:48 but He was divine, but He took upon Him 39:52 sinful human nature. 39:53 They will say mysterious blending 39:55 of divine and sinful nature. 39:59 One did not spill into the other. 40:00 This was separate. 40:02 It's a mystery that 40:03 in this world we cannot fully comprehend. 40:05 This is, we're gonna spend all eternity 40:07 trying to understand the great plan of redemption. 40:11 Now let's take a look, John 1:1-3 quickly, 40:14 it says, "In the beginning was the Word 40:16 and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," 40:20 talking about Jesus. 40:21 "He was in the beginning with God, 40:23 all things were made through Him, 40:25 and without Him nothing was made that was made." 40:28 This is speaking of Jesus. 40:30 He was our Creator. 40:32 John 1:14, then says, "And the Word became flesh, 40:36 and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, 40:40 the glory, 40:41 as of the only begotten of the Father, 40:43 full of grace and truth." 40:45 Praise God. 40:47 I wish we could spend more time on these verses alone. 40:49 But notice this God, Jesus, 40:53 in Galatians 8:3, 40:56 it talks about what happened to Him 40:59 or what He decided to do. 41:01 "For what the law could not do in that 41:04 it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son 41:08 in the likeness of sinful flesh, 41:11 on account of sin: 41:13 He condemned sin in the flesh." 41:16 So this, Jesus, the Son of God, 41:19 who is God, became a human being, 41:22 and took upon him the likeness of sinful flesh. 41:26 But this continues in Hebrews Chapter 7. 41:30 Take a look at Hebrews Chapter 7. 41:31 Let's read verse 26. 41:33 And hopefully, 41:34 we'll be able to read a few more verses afterwards. 41:36 Notice what it says here, 41:37 "For such a High Priest was fitting for us, 41:42 who is holy, harmless, undefiled, 41:46 separate from sinners, 41:48 and has become higher than the heavens." 41:51 Let's take a quick look at these words used here. 41:54 It says, this High Priest was fitting for us. 41:57 The word fitting in the King, New King James Version, 42:00 it uses the word fitting. 42:01 In the King James Version, 42:03 it uses the word such a High Priest became us. 42:06 And so this is a Greek word prepo, 42:09 that means the suitable, proper, 42:11 it is right, and it's comely. 42:17 And so, Jesus is not only suitable, proper, 42:21 He's the exact High Priests we needed. 42:24 He is uniquely qualified. 42:27 In fact, no one else is qualified. 42:30 Jesus is qualified. 42:32 Let's take the second word, who is holy. 42:35 In both the New King James Version 42:36 and King James Version uses the word here holy 42:38 and this word means properly right. 42:41 It says of divine character. 42:44 And so this is the word ousias. 42:46 Let's go to the next word. 42:48 It says that He is harmless. 42:52 It says in the New King James and both the King James, 42:55 it says, is this the word akakos, 42:56 which is a word that means that 42:59 is innocent, harmless, free from guilt. 43:04 This is Jesus. 43:06 He is fitting, holy, harmless, 43:09 but then he says He is undefiled. 43:12 And this word is amíantos, which means exactly that, 43:17 He is undefiled, unsoiled, that is pure. 43:21 So he lived a perfect life, never sinned. 43:26 So He remained undefiled. 43:29 And you know, interesting, 43:30 this word is also, he said innocent, pure. 43:34 And then, of course, it uses the word separate 43:35 from sinners in the sense that He never sinned. 43:40 This is the High Priest that was needed for us. 43:43 This is the High Priest that is working in our behalf, 43:46 Jesus Christ. 43:48 So let's take a look at 1 Peter Chapter 1:18-19. 43:52 This is all I have time to share now. 43:54 "Knowing that you were not redeemed 43:57 with corruptible things like silver or gold." 44:00 In fact, silver or gold could not redeem us. 44:04 It says, "From your aimless conduct 44:06 received by tradition from your fathers, 44:09 but with the precious blood of Christ, 44:12 as of a lamb without blemish, and without spot. 44:17 Jesus Christ, our High Priest, 44:20 it says that He was wounded for our transgressions, 44:23 He was bruised for our iniquities, 44:25 and the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, 44:28 and by His stripes, we are healed." 44:32 Praise God that upon Him was put the iniquity of us all, 44:37 as it is written in Isaiah Chapter 53. 44:40 So I encourage you to study these things. 44:43 Jesus Christ is our Savior, He is our High Priest. 44:48 This is worthy of all the time you could possibly spend 44:51 in trying to understand and God will bless this effort. 44:55 Amen. Thank you, Pastor Dinzey. 44:57 Thank you all, for the benefit of listening 45:01 to each one of you, 45:02 so that I know what I don't need to say. 45:05 We're talking about 45:07 the Heavenly Ministry of Christ. 45:09 I want to begin in Hebrews 9:24, 45:11 the heavenly ministry of Christ needs to be understood clearly. 45:15 And each one of our contributors 45:17 made the point in various ways about 45:20 why the ministry of Christ is necessary. 45:23 Hebrews 9:24 begins with his words, 45:26 "For Christ has not entered 45:28 the holy places made with hands, 45:31 which are copies of the true," 45:34 that's Exodus 25:8-9, "but into heaven itself, 45:38 now to appear in the presence of God for us." 45:41 Before the Lord continued His ministerial work, 45:45 His work of mediation. 45:48 Let me take you back to the garden. 45:51 In John 20:17. 45:53 On resurrection morning 45:55 when Mary refused to leave the garden, 45:59 and she thought that Jesus was the gardener 46:02 until she heard His voice. 46:04 And then she held on to Him. 46:06 But He said in John 20:7, verse 17, "Jesus said to her, 46:11 'Do not cling to me, 46:13 for I have not yet ascended to my Father. 46:17 But go to My brethren and say to them, 46:19 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, 46:22 and to my God and your God." 46:24 Now, I want to give you something here that 46:25 we often don't see. 46:27 Before Jesus appeared to the disciples, 46:31 He ascended and then He came back. 46:34 Because He said, He gave them instruction, 46:36 tell them where to meet Me. 46:38 And then He appeared later on in their presence. 46:40 Why was He ascending in this particular? 46:43 This is before He continued His ministerial work, 46:46 the work of mediation? 46:47 Why did He go? Let's go to Revelation 5:2-10. 46:52 Revelation 5:2-10, 46:54 because he had to be declared worthy, 46:59 His sacrifice had to be approved. 47:01 So when you read in Revelation, 47:03 now has come salvation and strength, 47:06 and the kingdom of our God, and of his Christ. 47:09 When you read in Revelation 12:10, 47:11 I'll read that right after this. 47:13 But listen to this in Revelation 5:2-10, 47:17 "Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, 47:20 'Who is worthy to open the scroll 47:22 and to loose its seals?' 47:24 And no one in heaven or on the earth 47:26 or under the earth was able to open the scroll, 47:28 or to look at it. 47:31 So I wept much, verse 4, 47:32 because no one was found worthy to open 47:36 and read the scroll, or to look at it. 47:38 But one of the elders said to me, 47:40 'Do not weep. 47:41 Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, 47:43 the Root of David, 47:45 has prevailed to open the scroll 47:47 and to loose its seven seals.' 47:50 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne 47:52 and of the four living creatures, 47:53 and in the midst of the elders, 47:56 stood a Lamb, watch this, as though it had been slain, 48:01 having seven horns and seven eyes, 48:02 which are the seven Spirits of God 48:05 sent out into all the earth. 48:06 Then He came and took the scroll 48:08 out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. 48:11 Now when He had taken the scroll, 48:12 the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders 48:14 fell down before the Lamb, 48:17 each having a harp, 48:19 and golden bowls full of incense, 48:22 all sanctuary language, 48:24 which are the prayers of the saints. 48:25 And they sang a new song, saying: 48:28 'You are worthy to take the scroll, 48:30 and to open its seals, for You were slain, 48:33 and have redeemed us to God 48:36 by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue 48:38 and people and nation, 48:40 and have made us kings and priests to our God, 48:42 and we shall reign on the earth.'" 48:45 This had to be proclaimed 48:48 before Jesus then could appear 48:49 in the presence of His disciples. 48:51 His sacrifice had to be approved, 48:55 the only one that was worthy, had to be declared worthy. 48:59 That's why Revelation 12:10, 49:01 has these words to encourage us. 49:04 "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, 49:06 'Now salvation, and strength, 49:09 and the kingdom of our God, 49:10 and the power of His Christ have come, 49:13 for the accuser of our brethren, 49:14 who accused them before our God day and night, 49:17 has been cast down.'" 49:18 And look at verse 11. 49:20 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb 49:22 and by the word of their testimony, 49:24 and they did not love their lives to the death." 49:27 The blood that Jesus shed as the Lamb slain 49:29 from the foundation of the world, 49:31 the slaying was prefigured, He had to slay His blood. 49:34 I mean, He had to shed His blood, 49:36 He had to be the Lamb that was slain, 49:38 but that shed blood had to be declared worthy. 49:40 And Peter made it very clear. 49:42 He's the lamb without blemish and without spot. 49:45 But what did he complete? 49:49 Why did he have to be declared worthy? 49:52 There was something that happened there 49:53 that sometimes we often tend to forget. 49:56 Let's go to the Book of Daniel 9. 50:00 I'm now make a different turn here, Daniel 9. 50:05 The Jews were given 490 years to usher 50:09 in what Jesus had to do Himself. 50:11 Daniel 9:24, "Seventy weeks are determined 50:15 for your people and for your holy city," 50:17 look at this, "to finish the transgression, 50:20 to make an end of sins, 50:23 to make reconciliation for iniquity, 50:26 to bring in everlasting righteousness, 50:29 to seal up the prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy." 50:33 They were given 490 years to recalibrate the mission 50:37 that God had given to them. 50:38 They would be the ones 50:40 to usher in the holiest of holy, 50:42 that is Christ Himself to anoint Him 50:44 to declare Him worthy to be the lamb 50:46 that will be slain. 50:47 They were to finish the transgression, 50:49 make an end of sins, 50:51 make reconciliation for righteousness. 50:53 So when you Read John 19:30. 50:55 Let's go to John 19:30. 50:58 Okay, look at this. 51:00 When we read John 19:30. 51:03 Let me show you what these words mean. 51:06 "So when Jesus had received the sour wine, 51:08 He said, 'It is finished.' 51:12 And bowed His head, He gave up His Spirit," 51:16 or as the Bible says in the King James, 51:17 gave up the ghost. 51:18 When he said, it is finished, what is finished? 51:21 Finished the transgressions, He made an end to sin. 51:25 And He made, He now became the one 51:26 who reconcile those who are bound in iniquity, 51:32 and he can now bring in everlasting righteousness. 51:35 When he said, it is finished. 51:36 What was he saying? 51:38 John 4:34, I'll go ahead and read it. 51:40 "Jesus said to them, 51:42 'My food is to do the will of Him 51:44 who sent me and to finish His work." 51:47 And then John 17:4, "I have glorified you on earth, 51:51 I have finished the work, which you have given me to do." 51:55 When Jesus died on the cross, 51:57 the work of redemption was completed. 51:59 Now watch this, the work of redemption, 52:02 the blood that needed to be shed, 52:03 the lamb that needed to be slain was offered. 52:06 The sacrificial system came to an end, 52:08 the perfect sacrifice, the righteous blood, 52:11 the only one declared worthy was now uplifted 52:15 before the Father, 52:16 and declared you all alone are worthy. 52:18 That's why they sang the song of Moses and the lamb. 52:21 So the question is why a mediatorial work? 52:25 Now let's see. 52:27 Let's go to 1 John 2:1-2, 52:32 why a mediatorial work? 52:34 What you have to keep in mind, friends, 52:36 is that we talked about justification, 52:40 sanctification, and glorification. 52:44 Between sanctification and glorification, 52:47 why does the Lord have to continue to minister? 52:50 Because we're not perfect yet. 52:52 Because we're not complete yet. 52:54 We are still growing in grace. 52:56 We are still being saved in that relationship of grace 53:00 that covers the frailty of our humanity. 53:02 In 1 John 2:1-2 points this out, 53:05 why is the Lord 53:07 still in the work of our mediator? 53:10 My little children, 53:11 1 John 2:1-2, "My little children, 53:14 these things I write to you, so that you may not sin." 53:18 However, "If anyone sins, 53:21 we have an Advocate with the Father, 53:25 Jesus Christ the righteous." 53:28 What role is He playing, 53:30 and He himself is the propitiation 53:32 for our sins, 53:34 and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. 53:39 This beautiful picture of redemption 53:41 from the Garden of Eden, 53:43 to the Second Coming of Christ, 53:44 there's a lamb in the middle, 53:46 that lamb when He shed His blood, 53:48 he covered and became the surety 53:51 for every sacrifice 53:52 that was performed in the Old Testament. 53:55 He became the surety for everyone 53:57 who would ever confess their sins from His death 53:59 until the coming of Christ, 54:01 and therefore His work is necessary. 54:03 He's continuing to mediate in our behalf. 54:06 And that's why Romans 5:6-10, let me try to get this in here. 54:09 What it says, "For when we were still without strength, 54:12 in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 54:15 For scarcely for a righteous man 54:16 will one die, yet perhaps for a good man 54:19 someone would even dare to die. 54:21 But God demonstrated His own love toward us, 54:25 in that while we were still sinners, 54:27 Christ died for us." 54:29 But now verse 9, "Much more then, 54:31 having now been justified by His blood, 54:34 we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 54:37 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God 54:41 through the death of His Son, 54:43 much more, having been reconciled, 54:47 we shall be saved by His life." 54:50 What life? 54:51 As we sit here today, 54:53 our mediator ever liveth to make intercession for us. 54:57 And now we can come by Him boldly 55:01 to the throne of grace, 55:02 that we might obtain mercy 55:04 and find grace to help in time of need. 55:06 His work was finished at the cross, 55:08 but He is still forgiving us until we are fully glorified 55:12 in the perfection of His righteousness. 55:14 Amen. Thank you so much. 55:16 Praise Lord for His high priestly ministry. 55:19 Praise God for the sanctuary. 55:21 The New Covenant sanctuary, what a gift. 55:23 Thanks so much, Pastor John and Pastor Johnny, 55:26 Sister Shelley and Pastor Ryan, 55:27 thank you all for sharing. 55:29 I want to give each one of you a moment 55:30 to share a closing thought. 55:31 Yeah, I think Isaiah 53:5 is probably sums all this up. 55:36 It's been read a couple of times, 55:37 but I just want to close with that. 55:39 But He who, He was wounded for our transgressions, 55:41 He was bruised for our iniquities, 55:43 the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, 55:47 and by his stripes, we're healed. 55:49 Praise God for that sacrifice. Amen and amen. 55:52 The lesson I presented was substitution. 55:56 When you accept Christ as your Savior, 56:00 and let Him be your substitution, 56:02 He will deliver you from the guilt of sin 56:05 paying the penalty. 56:07 He delivers you from the grasp of sin. 56:10 He will deliver you and restore your relationship 56:15 reconciling you to God. 56:17 He will make you righteous by faith. 56:21 He will give you access to God, and He gives us a certain 56:26 future with God. 56:28 Amen. Amen. 56:29 Jesus Christ so that all could have... 56:32 He died so that all could have the opportunity to be saved. 56:36 The door is open. 56:38 The mercy of God is still available 56:39 to each and every one of us. 56:41 And I hope you take advantage of the opportunity 56:43 that God has given you, Jesus Christ, 56:45 as our high priest is waiting for you. 56:46 That's right. 56:48 I'm so glad you mentioned the door. 56:49 I was looking right at that text in John 10:1, 56:51 I am the door if you climb up 56:53 any other way you are a thief and a robber. 56:55 John 14:6, what is our ministering priests 56:59 doing now? 57:00 He is opening the way for us to come into the presence 57:03 of the Father by faith. 57:05 He says, "I am the way, the truth and the life. 57:09 No one comes to the Father except through me." 57:13 Today, you can come through Christ Jesus to the Father, 57:17 and receive forgiveness for your sins. 57:18 Amen. Thank you all so much. 57:21 I'm reminded of that scripture today, 57:23 if you will hear His voice, do not harden your heart. 57:27 I want to close with this scripture. 57:28 This is Ephesians 2, 57:30 I was reminded of it as the panel was discussing. 57:32 Ephesians 2:12, "At that time, you were without Christ." 57:37 Have you felt like you were without Christ. 57:39 "Being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel 57:41 and strangers from the covenants of promise, 57:45 having no hope without God in this world. 57:48 But now in Christ Jesus, you who were once far off 57:54 have been brought near by the blood of Christ." 57:58 He is our peace and has broken down that 58:00 middle wall of separation. 58:02 Praise God for that. 58:03 Join us next week lesson 12 for Covenant Faith. |
