Let's go ahead and we're going to get started. I'm going 04:15 to tell you what you need. The first thing you'll need is a 04:20 gallon Ziploc bag, whole wheat flour. You're going to need 04:25 white flour. You need some salt and some honey and some yeast 04:32 and some oil. Once you have all of that then you're going to 04:38 need some kind of spray that you might want to use for the pan so 04:43 that the bread doesn't stick. All right, we're going to 05:08 need a teaspoon of salt and then a tablespoon of yeast. I buy my 05:15 yeast in big packets but what you can do is when you're at the 05:19 grocery store they have yeast in little single packets and so 05:23 that might be easier for you. Now you might want to 06:21 make it a little more healthy and so you may just want to make 06:24 it all just whole wheat flour. That's fine. You can do that. 06:27 The reason why I'm using the white flour today is because my 06:31 whole wheat flour is very dense and so it makes my bread really 06:36 dense unless I add some of the white flour to it to make it a 06:42 little lighter. Thank you. First kind of mix it together. And 06:46 then once that's good then what we're going to do is squeeze out 06:48 all the air so that we can really knead the bread. The first story, as promised, is about a blind man. 11:07 whose name was Bartimaeus and here is his story. If you can 11:11 imagine with me two blind beggars sitting on the road just 11:15 outside Jericho. Beggars because they were begging for people to 11:19 give them money or food. They didn't have a way to make money 11:22 or have those things because of their blindness. Mark tells this 11:28 story and he focuses on one of them. His name was, What was 11:31 it? Bartimaeus. That's right. You see he had heard of Jesus 11:36 before and he believed that if he had the chance to see Jesus 11:40 right, he would be able to see. If he had a chance to come into 11:45 contact with Jesus he would be able to see. Jesus was leaving 11:48 Jericho with his disciples and a big multitude of people. Often 11:54 times Jesus had a lot of people following him, didn't he? 11:56 Mark 10 verse 47 and 48 says: One again if you want to look at 12:02 it with me you can pause it or you could jot down the verse 12:06 and look at it after the story today. Mark chapter 10 verse 47 12:11 says: And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth he began 12:16 to cry out and say, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. Now 12:22 the people who were there warned him to be quiet but he cried out 12:25 all the more [he didn't give up] Jesus, Son of David have mercy 12:29 on me. 12:31 Now what do you think that Jesus would do? 12:33 I got to thinking because when I hear my son's cry I often times 12:39 know it's my son even if he's a long ways away. Maybe if you 12:42 hear your parent's voice or your brother or sister's voice you 12:44 know it's them. I think that Jesus had the same talent and 12:48 that was he could hear people who needed him. And he stopped. 12:52 Even though there was a huge multitude of people he had heard 12:55 Bartimaeus' cry and what did Jesus do? In verse 49 he said: 12:59 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then 13:01 they called the blind man saying to him, Be of good cheer, Rise, 13:05 he's calling for you. [He - That's Jesus, right] And 13:10 throwing aside his garment he rose and came to Jesus. [But 13:14 what would Jesus do?] So Jesus answered and said to him, What 13:18 is it that you want me to do for you? The blind man said to Him, 13:22 Rabboni,... 13:24 which means when we looked it up Rabboni meant master or 13:27 great one. So it was a display of respect. 13:30 Rabboni, that I might receive my sight. Then Jesus said to him, 13:35 Go your way, your faith has made you well. And immediately he 13:41 received his sight and he followed Jesus on the road. 13:46 How amazing. Blind Bartimaeus believed and received his sight. 13:53 God is amazing, God is so good. Now we're on to story number two 13:58 The other day I got this out. You see, this is my recipe to 14:03 make bread and my husband wanted me to make him some bread so 14:08 finally I got around to doing it Now what are some of the 14:11 ingredients in bread? Maybe you've made it before with your 14:14 Mom, or grandma or aunt. Or maybe you're like Miss Michelle 14:17 and you'd kind of rather just go to the store and buy some. 14:19 Although homemade bread is pretty tasty. Well, you need 14:25 flour, you need water, you might want to put a little oil in it. 14:28 Sometimes people throw in some nuts. I can't do that yet 14:31 because it's a choking hazard for my son. But later one we 14:33 might do that. Or maybe some oats, that's yummy too in bread. 14:37 Now in Matthew, we're going to back up to Matthew, verse 13. 14:42 Jesus taught a lesson with bread Hmm. He did that several times 14:48 didn't he. Do you know the secret ingredient for bread? 14:52 I have it right here in this bag I had to put it in here because 14:55 it needs to stay cold. Would you like to see what the secret 14:59 ingredient is? You see, if I put flour and some oil and maybe a 15:04 little salt, you know, in bread it would just stay the same. 15:09 What is the secret ingredient. The secret ingredient is called 15:13 yeast and mine comes in a little jar. And the yeast just looks 15:18 tiny, tiny little... Oh you probably can't even see it. 15:22 It looks like almost like the mustard seed from the other week 15:24 but tiny little pebbles, tiny, tiny, tiny little pebbles. 15:27 And Jesus taught them a lesson about yeast. Shall we read 15:30 what it is? 15:31 Again Jesus spoke a parable to them. The kingdom of heaven is 15:35 like leaven [that's yeast] which a woman took and hid in three 15:40 measures of meal until it was all leavened. 15:42 You see it only takes a tiny, tiny little bit of yeast and 15:46 when you put it in the bread, the meal, and you put it by 15:50 something warm, it grows and grows and grows into a 15:53 beautiful loaf of bread that you're sure to enjoy. Jesus 15:57 wanted the Pharisees to know and understand and this is a quote 16:00 from your lesson, that God's love works just like yeast. 16:05 No matter who you are or what we have been like, God's love in 16:10 our hearts changes us like yeast makes dough into a loaf of good 16:16 bread. What a cool lesson. All from a loaf of bread. On to 16:20 story number three. This one's called Finding A Treasure. 16:25 It's also in Matthew chapter 13 and this is about a man. 16:33 This man actually had rented a field and he was renting it. 16:38 People still do this today, where they'll rent the land and 16:42 then they'll work the land and plant a crop and harvest the 16:45 crop. Then they pay the land owner some money. Actually not 16:49 terribly a lot of money. I mean if you were doing it with a lot 16:52 of land it would probably be a lot of money but they usually 16:55 make a pretty reasonable deal for them to use that land. But 17:00 the land doesn't belong to them, only the crops that they grow on 17:03 it do. So this man was out in the field working on his crops 17:09 and the Bible says in Matthew 13 verse 44: 17:15 Again the kingdom is like a treasure hidden in a field 17:19 which a man found and hid. 17:21 Now why would he hide the treasure. You see he's out 17:24 working in this rented field and he finds a treasure. Wow. Maybe 17:29 the person who had owned the field a long time ago had hidden 17:32 that treasure. You see, back then they didn't necessarily 17:36 have banks like we do today where you can put your treasure, 17:38 your money, away safely. They often times would bury their 17:44 treasure somewhere and remember where it was. But sometimes they 17:48 may pass away before they could tell their family members or 17:52 someone else about where the treasure was. So this treasure 17:56 was unclaimed. It was just in this field. My bet is even the 18:00 owner of the field didn't know where it was. Why does Miss 18:03 Michelle think that? Well let's continue reading. 18:07 He found and for joy over it he goes and sells all he has and 18:12 buys that field. 18:14 Now first of all he would have had to go and talk to the person 18:16 who owned the field. And if they knew there was a treasure there 18:19 do you think they would have sold it? No way. In fact, that's 18:22 why he rehid the treasure. Right Then he told people kind of a 18:28 partial truth. He said, I must buy the field, which is true, 18:33 he didn't tell them why. Right? He left out the part about the 18:36 part about the treasure. And you can imagine what his family 18:39 thought of him when he came home and said, There's this field, 18:42 really nice field. I'm thinking we should sell everything. I can 18:46 just imagine my husband's face if I came home and said this. 18:49 We should just sell everything we have and buy this field. 18:53 And my husband's like does it have a home on it? No, no, no 18:57 home. Does it have a business on it? No, no business. Does it, 19:01 like did you find gold? And at that point the man would like 19:06 mm mmm mm because he kind of had found a treasure. Right? But his 19:11 family did think he was downright crazy. But he knew 19:14 that it would be worth it so he did. The Bible verse says he 19:18 sold everything that he had in order to buy this field. Can you 19:22 imagine the day that he purchased it and he said to his 19:25 wife and kids, Come on, let's go check out our new field. And his wife I can imagine maybe she was 19:42 even rolling her eyes a little bit at him, who knows and she 19:45 couldn't believe that it had come to this. But as they got 19:48 out to the field, he pulled out his shovel. You can see them 19:51 saying, Dad what are you doing? We don't want to work.
