00:29 is called the mail. Yeah, well, it is. And yeah, but that was
00:34 so so glad that you're here and sharing with us. Van, I saw you
00:41 during the break. She's serious shaved. She brought her check,
00:45 but who have. But yeah, I think you and I asked I said it's
00:51 good. I didn't bring my Yahoo at mine. And when we get home,
00:56 I'll pay you back. When you say, OK, I did. Yeah, yeah.
01:01 There we go. You've got something coming in. As we
01:04 left, we were asked, do you all to really thinking and pray
01:09 about it because this is serious where they're at right
01:11 now. They're literally going on faith. And so I haven't talked
01:15 a lot to them about it. But I talked to van about it and
01:19 others and it's the Faith Manor Street. We know about faith
01:23 Ministry in on close to 40 years and has not always fun.
01:27 Yeah, but it came from one week. Kept on. Keeps us on our
01:31 knees and with the as you can get far away because you like
01:35 the Lord. We really? Yeah. So I know that you all need
01:38 miracles, right? Oh, yeah. We do have some financial
01:41 miracle. He do. And our hope for folks at home now that I
01:46 don't do this for every program that comes along,
01:49 but sometimes and I'm impressed to feel like.
01:52 >> You know, I need to say something need to do something.
01:54 So I'm encouraging you if you're just joining us, I'm
01:57 glad that you're joining the second hour. But if you'd like
02:00 to make a donation too soft and I could nominate position where

02:08 physically helping people and spiritually and reaching the
02:12 homeless and hundreds 100's. And I guess over the years,
02:15 thousands of people making a difference in their life and no
02:19 telling how many people and have mean need to be for an
02:22 eternity. And the people like you all who are working region,
02:25 so many people, people will be coming up for years and sent.
02:29 Thanks to you all. I'm here. I'm in for what you did.
02:33 >> Yeah. What do you think that has now?
02:37 >> It's incredible. You know, just the way that God has
02:40 continued moving, you know, in a little bit, you're going to
02:44 see a video on that just shows such an impact of, you know,
02:49 what being the hands and feet of Jesus is. Yes. So it's just
02:54 incredible union to see the lives changing to see people
02:57 get a smile on their face. Knowing seeing God's love.
03:00 Yeah, bills live in that spirit. It's amazing man.
03:04 >> And say we're going to do another song by Jamie. Yes,
03:07 above all. Above all,

08:12 demand, some kind of beautiful. Yeah, it's just it.
08:16 >> That song really moves me just, you know, above all,
08:20 above all powers.
08:23 Just Jesus just crucified and gave his life and the thought
08:28 of us above all. And
08:29 >> an amazing beautiful as worthless as we are. I know,
08:33 you know, really, I know you look at us as frail. Human
08:36 agents were on a mask. That's right. And the overall and
08:39 needed a savior and try. And so what an opportunity.
08:43 >> We can reach people through media. You're out there
08:46 physically meeting people's needs, which is I'm amazed at
08:50 the size. The scope of Europe operation your ministry has in
08:55 all the trailers we see and and the trucks. And as you said,
08:59 you can use another. So somebody's got a truck in
09:02 trucking business. You've got another truck we've had donated
09:05 before. So we do also have my phone for those of you that
09:10 have buy a phone number. Maybe lords impressing you to
09:13 give a certain out. That's why I set it up here in case my
09:17 programs of Holy Spirit impressing, you just let me
09:20 know and I'll share with them. All right. That's cool.
09:25 >> So with this next thing we're going to show it's a
09:28 video where actually premiering here we have in play at any
09:32 other platform so and have been asked marketing ministry called
09:37 structure to grow. They flew out of Florida. They did this
09:40 for free and they feel most video for free to show the
09:43 realities of what it's like to experience homelessness and to
09:47 just summarize and you'll see in the video,
09:50 we drop off to volunteers 30 miles away from our main
09:53 operation downtown.
09:55 They have to it's where their it's as if they're experiencing
09:58 homelessness. So they'll have $10 in their pocket.
10:01 They have to get back to salt in 3 hours to make their case
10:06 management appointment
10:07 and and they don't have their phone and they have to just
10:10 figure it out as it feels. So now it's experiencing
10:13 homelessness. The the only people who are not really
10:16 homeless, but they're expecting not really homeless, but there
10:18 is going to put him in position. So exactly. Yeah,
10:21 social experiment Yap. So where we're going to play that now.
10:24 [MUSIC]
10:27 >> The Central Florida Transportation Authority serves
10:29 an area of 2,500 square miles with the resident population of
10:34 2.3 million
10:37 with us is operating. The name links reported over 18 million
10:41 individual teams in 2023
10:45 Unhoused population that relies on these buses. The most the
10:49 link system can take hours to navigate what the car might
10:51 only take. 30 minutes
10:53 [MUSIC]
10:56 today, 2 volunteers from Salt outreach to experience this
10:59 first.
11:00 >> Right now we have to
11:03 2 people with going to be
11:09 getting dropped off, basically 2025 miles away from the
11:13 drop-in center
11:14 and they're going to have to
11:17 find their way back.
11:20 So a lot of people
11:23 how to go to downtown Orlando, Orlando area to be able to get
11:27 the services they need.
11:29 >> Services like food, laundry and showers are available at
11:33 the Salt Center.
11:34 They also provide individuals with case workers to help them
11:37 find stable housing.
11:39 [MUSIC]
11:41 The cut off time to be seen by caseworker is 10:00AM if they
11:44 want to be seen today, these participants will have 3 hours
11:48 to complete the 35 mile trip back to salt.
11:53 >> As we get started just to go over some of the ground rules
11:56 on the expense and you each have $10 to give you these $10
12:00 now.
12:02 So you have $10. You can pull this mining, OK? You guys have
12:06 $10 that you have to work with. You can spend now whatever you
12:09 need to be aware. This is the only $10 you have this all the
12:13 money you have. The other thing is your phones are about to
12:17 die. You have 5 minutes to look at your phone plan out your
12:21 route. And after that 5 minutes, you're giving me a
12:23 moment.
12:25 >> Mine is actually now or that crazy. But that's not going to
12:28 like mine is actually now working out so well. 3 minutes
12:31 left any 3 of them to get.
12:38 That's the game plan and he's saying is right.
12:40 [MUSIC]
12:44 >> Edwin Sabrina are en route to their first bust in 45
12:48 minutes to their bus arrives. If they miss it, it will put
12:51 them an additional 30 minutes behind schedule.
12:56 >> I have to get up to 6 o'clock in the morning.
12:59 I get ready. Pack my bag.
13:01 >> To get ready. Jade could be at the bus. Stop by 7.35.
13:05 I'm not about the bus stop at 7.35. That buses leaving.
13:09 I miss that bus. Transportation is the I have to wait another
13:12 hour for the 18.
13:15 >> In Orange County alone, there are more than 6,700 youth
13:18 experiencing homelessness and housing instability. Payton is
13:22 one of them. He knows firsthand the task ahead when Sabrina are
13:26 faced with he lives in every day.
13:29 >> What if I haven't by 8 o'clock appointment? That's the
13:32 only time she saw him. She wants to meet with me, make a
13:35 spender. But I can't because I know if I get on the bus starts
13:39 up at 05:30AM, and to get out by what had to be out for.
13:44 And even that might not make it 8 o'clock.
13:46 >> If you take half a cup for 47
13:49 [MUSIC]
13:52 to get to this 30 minute just watched.
13:55 [MUSIC]
13:57 >> You know, adding on top of that, if you
14:01 have a place to sleep
14:03 the night before I had a place to sleep last night.
14:07 >> Edwin Sabrina have decided on a raft they plan to take the
14:11 55 to kiss me station where the hope to hop on the train into
14:14 downtown Orlando. This route might be a little more
14:17 expensive, but it's certainly one of the fastest ways to go.
14:20 They each have a budget of $10 to make it happen.
14:24 >> 2000 take this mission. Those people to get all of the
14:28 G O.
14:29 [MUSIC]
14:32 >> We'll get to all that. We do that. Yeah. Yeah. Right.
14:37 >> Faced with the decision to either go find exact change.
14:41 Wait for the next bus or spend all of their money onto all-day
14:44 passes. They chose the latter.
14:46 >> I feel like it was easier for us to be able to make that
14:49 choice because it's week and today we're not going to keep
14:52 doing it day after day.
14:55 Yeah, I think
14:57 after doing it for a while, my choice would maybe change to be
15:01 food or water and set of the U.S..
15:04 >> Edwin Sabrina now have an hour until they reach Kissimmee
15:07 station with all of their money gone. That rain may no longer
15:10 be an option.
15:11 [MUSIC]
15:16 [MUSIC]
15:19 >> We fed he said that this is in a row. He said you have to
15:23 explain to us or none at all right now.
15:29 >> We'll get the fastest way to get your one and oh, yeah,
15:32 he's going to be
15:34 the sun melts. Know whether you have to begin. Yeah. The second
15:38 fastest ways to for a long which comes over here. What
15:41 does it say might spread. Bus only has like
15:44 6 to 10 stops came from nice. The next one.
15:48 It's going to be the one away which is in front of this one.
15:53 What the one way you have to make to you have to get on the
15:56 one way
15:57 go to the Florida Mall at the Florida Mall. The changeover to
16:01 the 107.
16:03 You know, the the foreground comes. Let me check like that.
16:08 One of the island bay
16:10 [MUSIC]
16:12 we took 6 is a bit. He leaves some here over. There have been
16:17 a rant is right now is 8.36 to gobble up on all the way to the
16:23 main station got and you don't know where the main station is.
16:26 The big plays with all all of us. Okay. Okay. Okay. Thank you
16:30 so much, Rob. Have a good one.
16:33 >> I feel like we looked out that I feel like he was very
16:36 nice us like it may be or even our parents like maybe they
16:41 want to take unnecessary.
16:43 Yeah, we look a little bit more clarity. Yeah. If you seen an
16:47 inviting yeah, you probably would have been like.
16:52 >> You do get drivers like that. I may be coming to
16:56 stepped away and the buses like I'm going.
16:59 And even though you try to like wave them down those they're
17:02 still going. It's discouraging. It's disheartening.
17:08 >> Because they were able to take the train. Edwin Serena
17:11 added an additional 30 minutes to their trip. It will make it
17:14 to the central station in downtown Orlando with nothing
17:17 between them and salt. But a 1.2 mile walk.
17:21 [MUSIC]
17:24 >> Half of the 3 after that.
17:25 [MUSIC]
17:27 Now it's time for.
17:30 [MUSIC]
17:35 [MUSIC]
17:40 [MUSIC]
17:44 [MUSIC]
17:49 [MUSIC]
17:52 >> Yeah, you guys made it right, Mike. Right on the DOT.
17:56 But yeah, 3 hours and normally from there would have been
17:59 avoiding minute drive.
18:01 >> It's so tiring. I can't imagine like a charming or
18:04 down.
18:05 >> Yeah, I think the bus
18:06 being with the whole you have a new year hole.
18:09 I know James and that the bus passes only like 4.50, right.
18:13 What? You need to have to give the full $10 bill because they
18:17 want to be changed, right?
18:19 >> Edwin Sabrina, we're 2 minutes late. They would not
18:23 have been seen by case management today.
18:25 >> I've been on the side on our site
18:29 saying, you know, hey, I'm
18:32 we just feel that. But you can come back tomorrow at this
18:35 time. You know, I I I would never put myself in that
18:40 one other side of life.
18:42 It took me 3 hours to get here. I can to just see one more
18:45 person
18:47 [MUSIC]
18:49 indefinitely and different perspectives.
18:52 It definitely gives me more empathy for people who rely on
18:54 every single bit
18:56 I can to having to do every day.
18:59 >> The services that salt provides are obvious. What's
19:01 less obvious is the intentions behind those services on a much
19:05 deeper level salts mission is focused on giving Unhoused
19:09 population of central Florida. A chance at the intangibles
19:13 that are critical for us. All
19:15 things like a sense of community dignity
19:19 and most importantly hoped
19:22 [MUSIC]
19:25 there are already enough obstacles toward achieving this
19:28 public. Transportation shouldn't be one of them.
19:31 [MUSIC]
19:36 [MUSIC]
19:41 >> Wow, that was so powerful. You know,
19:45 just like he was saying earlier, Danny, what we just
19:48 take our blessings for granted. You know, we have a place to
19:51 live and we have transportation. We can get
19:53 where we need to go.
19:55 But when you actually see the struggle of trying to get
19:59 somewhere within a certain timeframe, and if you miss that
20:03 time frame after you spend all of your money and then you
20:08 can't, you can't connect. And so
20:10 just unpack that a bit for us if you want. Yeah, like.
20:14 >> So services are and stand Central Florida. They're
20:17 they're full all the time. You know. So the the reality
20:20 is, if someone doesn't get there by 10:00AM, they're not
20:23 going to be seen by case manager. And in this case,
20:25 they missed that by 2 minutes. And and, you know, imagine like
20:29 you said, spending all your money, traveling 3 hours to get
20:33 there only to be told,
20:35 hey, we're full today and now and if you have to go to work
20:39 and you have to spend 3 hours to go to work, the person
20:41 interviewing in that that video is someone actually
20:45 experiencing homelessness. And he he he still is 22
20:50 years-old. He's going to college. Yes, that he has to do
20:53 that to get to college and to go back to where he sleeping
20:56 and try and sleep somewhere where he feels somewhat safe,
21:00 you know, and he goes to McDonald's to work on his
21:02 homework like, you know, he goes to these play other places
21:05 to to work on things. It's it's it's so hard. It's so hard.
21:09 Yeah.
21:10 >> I think that's the key there to Eric and Bill, it's so hard
21:15 like it's not just a matter of just doing something like we
21:19 can again take for granted. Now this is everything is a
21:25 challenge and everything. And when you said, you know,
21:28 if they miss it by 2 or 3 minutes and they shut down and
21:33 you've given 3 hours of your time and all your money,
21:35 it just is so overwhelming. Yeah, I just can't imagine the
21:40 stress of dealing with that every single day. These people
21:45 every day, these 2 were young.
21:47 >> And good help more and why I asked I don't suppose most of
21:51 the people and they're going to shape. We have a lot of most
21:55 people experiencing homelessness right now over the
21:57 age of 55 seniors, especially we see people with walkers
22:01 people in wheelchairs. 3rd, a 3rd of our clients to see a
22:05 case manager have mobility challenges, you know, being
22:09 able to to yeah, like they they walked a mile and a half.
22:13 And you know what? If it 10 minutes said and 15 minutes,
22:18 someone in the has a walker that's in a wheelchair that's
22:20 going to take, you know, 4, 5, times as long. And so even like
22:25 something as simple, as you know, with transportation in
22:28 downtown Orlando, there's only 2 port-a-potties
22:31 for the for the for the in that in downtown Orlando, the
22:36 hundreds 100's of people experiencing unsheltered
22:39 homelessness. If you have mobility challenges you can get
22:42 there.
22:43 I mean, what are you going to do? What are you going to do?
22:45 All right. We have we have some when it comes to us every
22:47 single day.
22:48 She has a like a a
22:51 digestive challenges. She's an older woman. She has to use
22:57 depends. You know that the diapers and she has to come
23:00 every single day. She can't make it to a bathroom and my
23:03 home, you know, and and all the places are closed and even if
23:07 they were open, if you look like you're experiencing
23:09 homelessness, they might not even let you. And so even
23:12 something as simple as using the bathroom at night is is a
23:14 privilege. Because if you guess what, if there's a police
23:17 officer nearby using the bathroom you're arrested for
23:20 for public urination, Ri for her dedication and defecating
23:24 in public. And I remember we did a study in January, a 3rd
23:28 of the arrests for people experiencing homelessness in
23:31 Orlando where for deaf using the bathroom at night. I mean,
23:35 how is that, you know, going to jail for just using the
23:38 bathroom is, you know, wants to go. I mean, that's the reality.
23:41 You have to hide to go use the bathroom, which, you know,
23:44 it's it's it's just it's wild on there. Yeah, yeah. We
23:48 actually had some testimonies that came that. I mean, this
23:51 video, the way came together was just such a blessing.
23:55 I know you we have kind of a story behind that.
23:58 >> Yeah, it's so exciting because
24:00 we see how God takes care of his children. Right. And even
24:04 the production of this video was such a miracle in itself
24:07 because, you know, not only did the marketing company decide to
24:12 do the video, but also there were people lined up to be
24:15 interviewed for this video, but that they weren't able to come
24:22 to the interview. And so the person that they ended up
24:24 interviewing was someone who is being dropped off at the exact
24:27 location where the 2 volunteers.
24:31 >> He sleeps there and that same area. We had no idea.
24:35 He he he didn't even know about the project. The video had.
24:39 He's like all someone told me to calm side came and went to
24:42 go interview at everything he's sharing because he sleeps in
24:46 the same area. We drop them off was exactly what are the 2
24:50 volunteers experience the whole time it was got confirming.
24:54 >> I mean everything. Yeah, we're God's timing, right,
24:57 right, yeah.
24:58 >> All right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And and the fact that
25:00 also that weekend on there were baptisms, you know, so then the
25:04 they were also able to do recordings of the bat tabs and
25:07 be able to just presents that and witness that also we do
25:10 that once we do about ISIS and once the air, it just so
25:13 happened, that marketing company was coming that
25:15 weekend. He didn't even realize I didn't. I totally forgot that
25:18 that it was that exact weekend. And when I scheduled in,
25:22 it's just it's just that without it. And we're able to
25:26 to have that and show kind of that that the highlight the
25:30 spiritual and side of what we do and that was his last name
25:33 is yeah.
25:35 >> You guys are the hands and feet of Jesus. I mean, you
25:39 offering you meeting people where they are, you're feeding
25:43 them. You're just like Dan said earlier
25:47 in the beginning, people want to hear about, you know,
25:50 the 2300 days or you know that what they want to know. Can you
25:54 give me something to eat? Yeah. Can I take a shower?
25:57 I get cleaned out. Right? And the self esteem that has to
26:01 be so damaged as a result of smelling bad. Yeah. You know
26:05 who wants to hire units that make such multi layered
26:11 problem? Yeah. And you guys are really meeting it head on your
26:16 on the front lines of this and I'm just so proud of you
26:19 and as a Christian, like seeing what you're doing because it's
26:23 really the work of the law and will make available.
26:26 >> All the literature that you can use. We have all these
26:29 series and 2, it's about, you know, Salvation. 10
26:33 Commandments is about the Lord's Day. All of these no
26:38 booklets that all that you want to be able to give. The people
26:41 will have they have all the amazing yeah. And so yeah.
26:46 In their hand I can read when they leave and say why are
26:49 these people helping me? Yeah, yeah. And so we we we had
26:54 a young guy in our group Bible studies. He he I remember.
26:58 So it's just kind of a cool moment. He was. It was it was
27:02 Sabbath are knows. It was the day we work on. We operate on
27:07 Sunday. So so they after Sabbath. So he came up to our
27:10 spiritual care team. He's like,
27:12 hey, yesterday was Savvis. I know. I think this is a I
27:16 went to the park. I was reading my Bible. Is that is that like
27:19 appropriate students have it is. And we're like, yeah,
27:23 that's a great idea. Yeah, yeah, you know, but like,
27:26 you know, things like light lit extra additional literature and
27:29 things like that is always going to be a blessing for
27:31 right? Yes, yeah, yeah.
27:33 Yeah. You know, so so one thing that that's really key about
27:38 all this that this really points out is the issue of
27:41 transportation, right? So being able to be mobile on wheels,
27:46 right, to bring trailers to where people are is a huge,
27:52 huge thing and getting them services cause like you said
27:55 one person might calm. They might miss that case management
27:58 opportunity to 3 hours all their money. They're like,
28:00 I'm not doing this again. You now I'm not going make it
28:04 so I can't I can't. Yeah, the camp is likely do it and so on.
28:08 So being able to meet them where they are is really key.
28:11 So we have a camp that we start to go to. You know, it's and
28:16 it's and the reason why there's some encampments, you know,
28:18 where we are is because the shelters are full rights and no
28:21 one has that they have any was asleep. They have to sleep
28:24 somewhere. And the only place that feel somewhat safe and has
28:28 exposes when you go into kind of the wooded areas and and
28:31 sleep there, you can maybe get a 10 to things like that.
28:34 So, you know, we started serving a camp with our white
28:38 trailer
28:39 and and we go out there and we serve them. We provide showers.
28:43 And there are so many people, you know, we had we had a young
28:46 guy. I mean, he's 21 years old. He came up to us in tears.
28:50 I just need help getting it. That's all I need. Can you help
28:53 me? Please? Like? Because every time he tries to go somewhere,
28:56 he doesn't make it in time. There's not there's a line from
28:59 like 5 in the morning trying to get these services and their
29:03 limited. And you know, so there's people in there that
29:05 really want help and support. And so
29:09 we were we were operating their and one, just one example.
29:13 And and this kind of really highlights what happens when we
29:15 aren't able to go and meet people where they are.
29:18 We were we were serving in that camp and the owners of a
29:21 property nearby. They were so upset that we were there
29:25 helping the people that were in that camp
29:28 that they they almost literally almost ran us over with
29:31 concrete blocks, actually have a video, a video of that of
29:36 them doing that. We were there serving on the talk over the
29:39 video because the sound is kind of, yeah, I'm not there.
29:42 So they take these blocks and they drop them right in front
29:45 of where we set up for our trailers and
29:49 and all that stuff. And they almost hit the car. One of our
29:52 staff with the camera there recording this heat. Yeah.
29:54 Almost get on with the with the machine and they were just so
29:58 angry that the company, it's a company. It's a it's a business
30:02 that's nearby. They're just upset that people experiencing
30:05 homelessness are there? Yeah, at the end of the day, you
30:09 know, when you when we think about it on the other way of
30:11 life, this like, hey, our goal is to help and they're homeless
30:13 this too well, they do want to be living in the woods right
30:16 now. We want to help move them out of the woods still, you
30:19 know, around the same team in a sense, you know, but they they
30:22 just weren't having it. You know, they they thought of it
30:24 differently and they blocked us from going there. So now,
30:28 2 weeks later, right, we we where we you know, we had so
30:32 much trouble me a lot built up to that point. And we were
30:36 ended up not being able to go back there. And
30:39 2 weeks later, we find out that someone in that camp I passed
30:43 away
30:44 because we we were not able to go there and continue to serve
30:47 the people. It was actually someone we're working with.
30:50 It was someone that was getting showers seen. A case manager is
30:52 looking for work
30:54 and he ended up getting us a cut and he had a like an
30:59 infection. Sets up, says that's not really something that's,
31:02 you know, that's just something small that grew into something
31:05 big. And and he ended up
31:08 handed up passing away. And last thing he heard from his
31:11 from the people, he's crying out for water because now when
31:14 you're in Florida, you're sweating all the time. When
31:17 you're when you don't have money or access to, I mean,
31:20 where you're going to get water to drink, right? I mean,
31:22 you're sweating all the water and all the time. So he and and
31:25 and so like
31:28 so when that happened, it, you know, I mean, obviously we know
31:32 the importance of our services and how it leads to help end
31:35 homelessness for people. But at the end of the day,
31:38 especially in the heat in Florida, this is actually
31:40 helping to keep people alive. Right? It's something that we
31:43 could have caught that we would have seen. We we've got over it
31:46 or medical partner. They would have been able to treat him.
31:49 And and you know, it's it's just it's it's just crazy.
31:54 It's crazy how there's such a stigma against people
31:57 experiencing homelessness that people go to. It's those kinds
31:59 of lanes. Yeah, is to stop people from getting the help
32:02 they need. And now a.
32:05 >> Some dehydration is a real problem. Oh, yeah, there I can.
32:10 And the because like you said, sweating from the heat, right
32:13 in and.
32:14 >> Yeah, I imagine I mean, something as simple as you
32:17 know, if the sun is beating down on the concrete all day
32:19 right in the roadway. Well, if you don't digits over there.
32:23 Yeah. So so the heat index of 1, 0, 6, 1, 0, 9, And so so
32:28 then if you don't have shoes and you're stepping on the
32:31 road, my so many people have a burns on their feet. Yes,
32:35 because they could. They don't have the shoes. And then
32:38 sometimes they have foot where that's not even adequate enough
32:41 to protect them from the robot that they end up getting
32:44 damaged as well. And so and then, yeah, sweating all the
32:47 time, not having at easy access to water, especially overnight.
32:52 I mean, these things are things that that, you know, we don't
32:54 often think about.
32:56 But it's the reality for people living on the street every day.
33:00 You know, it's a struggle.
33:01 >> I put your website again, your Web address. Those are
33:07 willing to support financially and go to assault an outreach
33:11 dot org and on. There's going to be pretty easy for them.
33:14 >> There been a composer. Yeah. Great think they can go
33:17 ahead and on that right on the homepage. They can scroll down
33:20 a little bit and there's a blow box. They can donate. Donate.
33:23 Go to the donate page or they can text somersault to 4,
33:28 4, 3, 2, 1, And that will get them a link to their phone.
33:31 It's a little bit be a little easier for the air. There it
33:33 is. Another option tax December saw, OK? So
33:37 4, 4, 3, 2, 1, That's right. Yeah. Leave that up just for a
33:41 little bit, too. Yeah. Yeah. We that that fundraiser is
33:44 actually it's more important this year. We do a somersault
33:47 fundraiser every year. But Ellis about what it on right
33:50 now this year. It's more important than ever. I actually
33:53 have us a short video to play. It's a news article that came
33:57 out last week and it's about the situation we're going
34:00 through now and explain. It will impact that together.
34:03 All right.
34:05 >> An Orlando organization that helps people experiencing
34:08 homelessness is making a tough decision service and love
34:12 together. Better known as salt is temporarily suspending some
34:15 services due to a loss in funding. And as central Florida
34:19 public media's housing and homelessness. Reporter Lilian
34:22 Hernandez Care about Joe finds it's not the only homelessness
34:26 organization facing budget challenges.
34:29 >> Salt is facing a budget shortfall of hundreds of
34:31 thousands of dollars forcing the organization to cut back on
34:35 their donor reliant mobile laundry and showers services.
34:38 While executive Director Eric come audio says this will not
34:41 affect the organizations. Grant funded offices for case
34:45 management and youth homelessness. He worries about
34:48 the people who depend on the soon-to-be reduce services.
34:51 >> People with disabilities senior 70, 80 years old
34:55 families with kids. It's a lot so.
34:58 >> Yeah, we have a lot of weight on our shoulders.
35:01 Salt is not the only local organization losing funding.
35:04 Last month, the Christian Service Center made a call for
35:07 more financial support from local governments. And in
35:10 October, the homeless services network of Central Florida held
35:13 their first ever fundraiser in 30 years million in on this
35:17 kind of Joe Central Florida public media.
35:19 >> Lilian Hernandez care about Joe is a report for America
35:22 Corps member.
35:24 >> Thank you for those the at home watching as you can be
35:28 part of a miracle tonight. It is when you want to be a
35:31 part of the miracle man who wouldn't want to be right?
35:33 Yes. And and all you have to do will put the address again
35:36 website want to keep it up. Not just we can hear in the
35:39 last 20 minutes or so. So the Holy Spirit impressing you can
35:43 make a donation or encourage in each of you to do that because
35:47 there's no way
35:50 people right here in the United States of America. People that
35:54 organizations like yours, Saul, that should be
35:59 short of money. And Sam, we're having to shut down services
36:02 when most of us have so much. That's right. And those
36:07 watching this program are most of us. If there's people not
36:11 watching maybe the homeless and doesn't have access to the
36:15 televisions, are the phones are the, you know, whatever.
36:18 So most of us, if you're there, you're able to give something.
36:21 So just think potentially hundreds of thousands of people
36:25 watching around the world have been here in the United States
36:28 were on Dish Network cable stations satellite the agency.
36:33 If you gave $10, you get a 50 P 500 some of the can. Yeah.
36:38 And I know you can you give 20,000 you could get 50.
36:41 I don't know what that amount. The holy spirit knows what I
36:45 can imagine that any of us. Well, watch this program
36:48 tonight and not give something and feel comfortable going to
36:52 bed tonight under nice of summertime and the cool,
36:55 probably air-conditioning, obviously after seeing what
36:59 these people have likened what this organization soft is
37:03 doing. And so I don't know. Sometimes you say it is not
37:07 meant to be a guilt trip. Maybe it is may at should be.
37:11 Yeah, what a song. Because I I'm having one myself and my
37:14 son, you know that we're going to support for more than what
37:19 we normally can do because this has to keep going. That's what
37:23 this is a way to reach people your age and physically and
37:26 then spirit today. And so I know before we get about 20
37:31 minutes left, we're going hear some great stories and what's
37:34 happening. So I kind of want to.
37:36 >> Turning back to you. Yeah, it's you know, when I think
37:39 about that new story, you know, I you can hear the little
37:42 motion on that story and it was thus the reporter was scheduled
37:47 to calm at that time. It was the one 30 and Wednesday last
37:51 week. They're scheduled to come
37:53 that time and literally about 30 minutes before she came.
37:59 I got a text from from the city and we're hoping for some
38:02 bridge funding. We thought me, you know, hey, on show on
38:05 shelter, homelessness has doubled in the area, you know,
38:09 COVID funding which which we're $600,000 less that we're seeing
38:13 from local government this year because COVID funding is no
38:16 longer around. Right. And that helped a lot to keep up with
38:20 need. Now are 600,000 short this year. We were still trying
38:23 to make it make it work. We were determined to keep
38:26 going with the services no matter what. And then we had a
38:30 severe delay from a corporate six-figure delay on a corporate
38:34 donations. Severe delay might not even see that next year.
38:38 We had another another foundation that had committed
38:43 to us that we've been meeting with for months and months that
38:46 has some internal issues and not able to give 250,000.
38:50 So when these things all happened at once, mom, you
38:54 know, we were we were kind of money was coming in for that
38:56 program because we're finding ourselves or fronting Arbil
38:58 ourselves for the people. We're taking a gamble risk on
39:01 the people that for the people that were surveyed downtown and
39:04 God's children. And and we took that gamble. Unfortunately,
39:08 a variable happened where these things and corporate donor that
39:12 foundation that they dropped.
39:14 And so we had we I mean, we would not suffer feet week.
39:18 We had no other choice. But to say, you know what, this coming
39:21 Monday we have to
39:23 we have to temporarily cut services for a while doing that
39:27 this Monday come talking this Monday coming. So so we that
39:31 doesn't that yes, yes, over the weekend, this program show
39:35 again.
39:37 >> You know where to live Thursday night. But the show
39:38 later tonight show, I think, Billy Sunday afternoon packs
39:42 Tuesday morning. And so we're going to pray that her people
39:46 step up, you know, and say we can give our part to keep this
39:50 going. Yeah, again, those of you they got a phone number
39:53 that I have and do sometimes if you want to tax and let us know
39:57 that you're supporting, that would be great, too.
40:00 >> Yeah, it's it's a it's definitely it's tough. You
40:03 know, we have people there
40:04 that like this man that passed away in that camp, right?
40:07 We weren't there for 2 weeks and he passed away. We have
40:09 people that if we don't serve,
40:12 if we don't continue serving them, there will be people that
40:15 will pass away and they will. And some people don't know the
40:19 Lord yet out there. They don't. They haven't made that decision
40:21 yet. We want to be able to be there and help them through
40:24 that. And so we've been really praying as a team. We've been
40:27 praying. We've been we've been today. We had some extra prayer
40:32 time with the whole organization. And and, you
40:35 know, our goal is to is to raise $500,000 right to to to
40:42 not only not stop our services but to sustain them throughout
40:45 the rest of the year. Yeah, and we know God can do it that you
40:49 will and you will and he will do it. And and what's amazing
40:53 is we got together today. We prayed as a team
40:57 and
40:59 we had. So this is a crazy story. Yeah, maybe I'll read it
41:03 to you guys. There's a crazy story. So last week I have an
41:07 old classmate of mine. I went to a public university studying
41:10 nonprofit management Guy, Masters, nonprofit management.
41:13 So she reached out to me and she was like,
41:16 hey, I'm last week. She's like, hey, I my family to start a
41:21 foundation, you know, want to help. You know, we wanted,
41:24 you know, we're just thinking about maybe giving the Salton,
41:27 you know, and and whatever, right? So can we meet next
41:30 week? I'm like, yeah, no problem. So I think it is
41:32 reaching out because of these new stories. I mean, there's
41:34 like 5 or 6 news story. They're coming out about this because a
41:37 new stations want to help to they want to see this happen.
41:40 And so I did reach out to any new station. They all reached
41:43 out to be wanting to help and get the story out there.
41:46 And so now where somewhere, meaning we at where the goal is
41:50 to me today, she's going to reschedule on me yesterday.
41:53 But she's like, you know what? I'm let's just let me wish to a
41:57 phone call today. I'm OK on a problem. So I got a phone call
42:01 with her today.
42:02 And she's like, hey, so so this is this is a story. And I I saw
42:06 your trailer over in Sanford, which is a city we serve 30
42:09 minutes north
42:10 and I was like and would be cool for foundation helps
42:13 support. Maybe another trailer, you know, in the community.
42:16 Hey, can you tell me the name of the group and they gave in
42:19 my name. She's like
42:22 Eric Camry. O I went to school with. Yeah, he's like. And so
42:25 that is she said in the fall, she's telling me the story and
42:28 she's like and maybe want to give even more, you know.
42:30 And and then, you know, but then last night I saw a news
42:34 story about you guys having suspend services
42:37 and and she's like it made me want to give it the more,
42:40 you know, figure out a way even more. So I have a board meeting
42:43 in 30 minutes.
42:45 Tell me what's happening, what's going on to explain
42:47 everything to her. And and we all our whole team. I'm texting
42:51 everyone calling it like let's pray there. But they're in a
42:53 boarding. Let's pray. Lets pray. And so so we get a tax
42:59 man few hours ago
43:01 and it says,
43:04 Eric, my family was so excited about your organization.
43:07 I had sent them the article and your Web site before the
43:10 meeting. I just sent you an email. But the sides you and me
43:13 discussing some paperwork, we're going to head in Grant
43:16 you 300,000 immediately.
43:19 I think I think we could have the check out to you next week.
43:22 Let me know if you have some time to talk tomorrow, right?
43:24 I praise the Lord and incredible. Yeah, it's a
43:27 miracle that it would only have taken their goal and it would
43:31 only happen in the last second. Yeah, because that's how God
43:34 works. But but you know, so so we're more than halfway to the
43:39 goal.
43:40 >> Just like that, I believe right here tonight. And then we
43:42 can do that and the rest of the go, the other half of it.
43:45 So, yeah, and they have radio as well. People listening on
43:49 the line as well as so. Let's give the let's put the Web site
43:53 up again. Want to keep it up there much as we can tell.
43:57 You notice all outreach dot org and there. If you're listening
44:01 as you said on radio and you can go to the website also and
44:05 those of you at home, you're still thinking about it ran
44:08 about that's what God does. Yeah, my friend Aaron will burn
44:12 our friend the past with COVID a couple years ago. I wrote a
44:16 song when I'm got is when Jesus is 4 days late with a long time
44:22 and then.
44:23 >> And I yeah, and God has done that so many times in
44:28 organization. I'm he builds our faith every year. You know,
44:31 when you talk about fundraising awry and and that's a part of
44:35 every nonprofit, every ministry has to fundraise and I'm I end
44:38 up terming it a faith raising because I feel like this work.
44:43 It really helps to build here. Fayyad got on all the money in
44:47 the world and he will range at the way it needs to be arranged
44:51 to meet the needs. And and, you know, I had I was going through
44:55 a tough time the past couple weeks, because I I
44:57 I would. And you heard me and that new story. I mean, I was I
45:00 was it was tough. It was tough. And part of it was
45:04 not necessarily. I think God was going to calm like come
45:06 through our answer. It was just having to go through the
45:09 process. You know, you have to make decisions based on numbers
45:12 in front of you write so like as a as a someone running an
45:15 organization of ministry, yes, staff and payroll and all that,
45:19 you know, I'm like well, based in numbers in front of us,
45:22 this is what we have to do. We have to Monday.
45:25 We need to we're going to have this continue the showers,
45:28 the laundry, you know, all the all these different things.
45:30 Our staff are devastated. There was not a dry eye in that
45:33 room we talked about was what had to happen after I thought
45:37 the city would common and help out and they they decided they
45:40 weren't going to. And and I ended up doing the interview
45:43 right after I got that extra and they were unable to
45:45 support. And you know, my wife is us. Tommy. Eric,
45:49 I'm not worried. Have a good feeling about this that's going
45:52 to come through somehow. Yeah. And you know, hey,
45:54 I'm here thinking like, you know, I am part of me and maybe
45:57 it's a lack of faith, right? Sometimes unlike well, you
46:00 know, is it maybe maybe maybe he wants us to go somewhere
46:04 else? Maybe there's a plan. Maybe there's some other
46:05 purpose. And and like, you know, as we talked about it
46:08 more and and thought about it more,
46:12 God does not want to leave his children without their basic
46:16 needs met. Right then he says he's I care about. I care about
46:19 the birds. You know, I get food. You know, we dress the
46:22 lily. I just lilies that that those basic needs are going to
46:26 get Matt for the people. And there's there's no. And and
46:30 those basic needs lead to other things, right? They lead to 2
46:33 case manager took to counseling to to spiritual care, to people
46:36 giving their lives to Christ and to people moving into
46:38 housing in people getting jobs and all that. Yes, but it
46:42 starts here. It starts, meaning those basic needs and helping
46:45 them to stay alive when they when they are out there on the
46:49 street, you know, we have we have a guy and on
46:52 this is just one of the people, you know, when you think about
46:55 stopping services. I think about this man.
46:58 He's a in the 70's, very quiet and no kids, no family. That's
47:04 that's a live right now.
47:05 I'm very quiet man who could come and get services. Yes,
47:08 a walker moves very slowly, you know,
47:12 but he's he's been experiencing homelessness now for a little
47:15 while
47:16 and one day he he calms um, you know, he comes for services
47:19 like he normally does to get a shower. He's only he gets
47:22 security. But it's so little to me is not able afford a place,
47:26 no housing programs that he qualifies for. So anyway,
47:29 he's he's there. And we notice that, you know, he he's the
47:33 bathroom on himself, right? And and our staff was like,
47:36 you know, hey, are you OK? We notice that.
47:39 And and and they're like an escape cleaned up. You know,
47:42 the bottom. They brought him and they they help make sure
47:44 you got it new clothes and was able to get a shower. You know,
47:48 they they spent some time with them. And then after that,
47:51 he comes the next day and they notice again and thank you.
47:55 So why is he saw himself again?
47:58 And they're like, is everything okay, like t need to see a
48:01 doctor? And like, you know, he's very timid, very shy.
48:05 He wouldn't even look our staff and the fate that the woman
48:07 that was ask him in the face of one of our staff. He's like,
48:11 yes, yes, you know, he just pick why. And 10 minutes,
48:13 I guess I want to see you see a doctor say gone to the doctor
48:17 and you know the clean them up again and all that and a few
48:21 days later. Yeah, he comes in with a smile on his face and,
48:24 you know, he's better you now. But who knows what, what that
48:27 was, what that could have led to if our staff wasn't there to
48:31 see him and to help him through that time, we have someone that
48:35 was just moved into housing last week.
48:38 She's been on the street for 15 years, making very little in
48:42 calm in her 60's. It just doesn't have anyone that that
48:47 that is there for she has her her pet with her who passed
48:50 away and she's now alone on the street. And it took 15 years to
48:55 get her into a housing program because that because of the
48:58 capacity that the
49:01 the programs being full, you know, and then qualifications
49:05 and all that, I mean, it's it's
49:07 and there's people that we need to support while they're
49:10 waiting for those things. You know, I I mean, I I one day
49:14 and I I believe one day we will have housing right, will have
49:17 places that we all you need a place to live. OK? There you
49:20 go. Salt housing, right? You know, and we we grow,
49:23 you know, we started with food and we moved the showers and
49:26 all these things. And now we're expanding different location.
49:28 I mean, that's a dream, you know, one day. But but right
49:32 now, we don't have that. And there isn't any housing
49:35 affordable housing in central Florida. So the only the only
49:38 thing we can do is help support people in this moment right
49:41 now. And and and that's what we're there to do that we feel
49:45 called to do. That's why I believe, you know, God a move
49:49 to this, a random, you know, a chance appointment. This family
49:54 Foundation just started a foundation on the arts
49:57 organizations that surprising that to to to give over half of
50:01 the funding that's needed. And
50:04 >> and as for guys named to the lower, yes, you know, because
50:07 the news stations, you know, after that, they've come and
50:10 talk to Eric and all of that.
50:12 >> They told us, you know, let us know when you get like the
50:16 miracle story. You know, we want to follow up with. Yeah.
50:19 So we know.
50:20 >> That guy is ready to show his power. Yeah, you know,
50:25 to show how much he loves his children and also to be able to
50:29 show that this ministry is his.
50:30 >> Yeah, that's right. When we go, we there's that 5 stations
50:34 have said,
50:36 let let us know. Let us know and what happens here and we'll
50:40 do a follow-up story where and God is going to get all the
50:43 glory and that story. And to everyone in that community,
50:46 it's going to be it's going to be amazing. Yeah, you know,
50:50 just occurred to may cause some of our folks begin voter folks.
50:53 >> Some of us I say some of us older folks, the aren't always
50:58 the best and lot of them don't really. It's like,
51:03 you know, we're we're to all and I'm trying to be as gentle.
51:05 Yeah, but
51:08 >> we don't use that. We're not very good on social media were
51:11 not good on the website. So what you could do for those
51:15 of you who used to donating used to supporting you could
51:19 actually write because a lot of people still do snail mail
51:22 3ABN, a P o box to 20. You can get that address. I don't know
51:26 if they can put it up now. But you make your course the
51:30 check to salt. But you can send it to 3ABN we will
51:34 sent forward it to them every penny of it. So I don't know if
51:38 you can get it up. You can give it to you again and you can
51:41 watch all during the day. Just look us up. It's a 3ABN,
51:46 P O box to 20
51:48 S P o box to 20 West Frankfort, Illinois, that 6 to 8, 9,
51:53 6, So hopefully we'll be able to get that up and bit and that
51:58 way. If you say, look, the only thing I know how to do is write
52:00 a check. They can do that.
52:02 >> Because our dress, though, they're used to it. Yeah,
52:05 we we actually had checks have come to us from 3ABN, but from
52:10 people that gave today be ever saw. Well, so, yeah, we know
52:13 we've we've yeah, you guys. And then that would have given
52:16 our audience every opportunity to get yeah, can't get on the
52:21 website.
52:22 >> And again, it's the put up but on the screen again for the
52:27 Utes Dot Org, right? Yeah, OK, Aaron, assault outrage, DOT Org
52:34 or write to 3ABN still make the check to stop and we'll be
52:38 happy to send it down because we'd love to see the other half
52:42 of that miracle of tonight. Yeah. And so that $600,000 we
52:47 know he's going to do it has gotten to yet and we have an
52:50 opportunity to be a part of that. And that's where I said
52:54 earlier. They're part of a miracle. I didn't know to you
52:57 guys. Yeah. It with you now. Yeah. I had no idea about this.
53:02 300,000. Yeah. One of them out. So yeah. Thank you. So that's
53:06 really encouraging. So I'm blessed for about 2, 0,
53:10 >> Absolutely. You know, whenever
53:14 I hear what salt is doing, I'm so inspired because, again,
53:18 you're doing God's work and God is going to be glorified with
53:22 this of this deadline from Monday. Watch will guide.
53:27 Watch what he does. He's going to bring glory to his name.
53:31 >> Yes, excited. Yeah. It's it's what you do. Yes. And now
53:36 now more than ever this is needed there said in a new law
53:40 in Florida, actually that's passed. That's going to be come
53:43 into effect in October. And that law is you cannot
53:49 you can not sleep on public property, even if shelters are
53:52 even if shelters are full and not sleep on public property.
53:56 So what that means is
53:57 shelters have been full for years. So now when someone
54:01 sleeping on the sidewalk or in a in it and campaign
54:04 encampment, they can literally be arrested for being out
54:08 there.
54:09 >> So then I have a record. They'll have a rest for
54:11 impeding them from getting the job. Yes.
54:13 >> Yes, so it's it's it's it's really it's really sad. You
54:19 know, where a lot of our guests are afraid of that law when
54:23 that law passes,
54:26 because unfortunately, it's going to be it's going to add
54:29 even more barriers to help get them off the street. I mean,
54:32 even even something as like, you know, they they included in
54:36 that law that if a citizen or business complains about
54:40 someone sleeping on public property, if the local
54:42 government does not respond to that complaint,
54:45 then that person stays there, that citizen or a corporation
54:48 can actually sue the local government or so that's forcing
54:52 now all the local governments in Florida to actually figure
54:57 out what to do to move them somewhere because there's no
54:59 other,
55:01 they're yeah, it's it's just
55:03 it's it's making us so much situation, you know, as we've
55:06 seen.
55:07 >> And California in places where people in the streets
55:11 where there begins bass and drums and so much crime and all
55:14 of these and businesses, people can go to the businesses.
55:18 Are there ready to go? So it has to governments and local
55:22 governments. The state's yeah. Depending on your population.
55:25 Yeah. You get places like California. Southern California
55:28 has got good weather and says Florida and at least in the
55:33 wintertime.
55:34 >> So you're going to have it. It's it's a it's such a
55:38 complicated complex. Yeah issue and everyone everyone wants to
55:44 try and do what they can to try and fix the issue to address
55:47 the issue. And unfortunately a lot of time working against
55:51 each other, right? Because this person has a solution. This
55:53 person is this this solution here, but they're all they're
55:57 not coordinating, you know, an and now it makes it harder for
56:00 people like us to figure out what I've found over the years
56:04 and has been nearly 40 years.
56:06 >> As you know, worry about tomorrow and back and see how
56:10 guys legend. Yeah, I mean, Melhem, Jay, what once and many
56:14 of the others of us have said that, that we can be assured
56:18 that God's going to blast. So, yeah, it looks like
56:20 obstacles. The mountains in front of you are in the
56:23 physical, but we're working in the spirit back on. Yes,
56:26 it's very unusual. God is going to continue to provide for you
56:30 all so that you'll be able to really help countless numbers
56:34 of people, not only physically but spiritually as well and the
56:38 demand to the Kingdom of heaven. Yeah, we want to thank
56:41 you both for being here once again. And we'll put up the
56:45 address there over the last few minutes website and U.S. so
56:50 outreach to all the outrage dot org. And so I hate to say this,
56:56 but our time is all gone. So until we see you next time a
57:00 tenure richly bless you. Abundantly more than you could
57:03 ever ask more thing
