00:01 Have you ever wondered exactly how to prepare healthy food
00:04 that actually tastes good? 00:05 Well stay tuned while Evita Tezeno and yours truly, 00:08 Nyse Collins, show you just how to do it, and give you 00:11 something better. "A Taste of Paradise". 00:32 Welcome to "A Taste of Paradise". 00:35 My name is Evita Tezeno, and today we are going to talk about 00:39 seeds, seeds, and more seeds. Our first recipe is going to be 00:44 a Blueberry Chia Seed recipe. 00:47 Let's see the ingredients: 01:17 So, what we did was we take these Chia seeds, which are 01:27 amazing, they are high in protein, 01:33 they are a complete protein. They have nine essential 01:39 amino acids, they are a great source of minerals and vitamins, 01:50 and we are taking the Chia seeds and combining them 01:53 with Almond Milk, and if you are wondering how to make 01:57 Almond Milk, look at one of my previous video's 02:01 from season one, we did the Almond Milk. 02:04 This is soaked over night, I prepared this before hand, 02:12 and you see it gets... the term is called gelatinous. 02:17 It gets very gelatinous, so we want to put the Chia seeds 02:23 in the Food Processor, dates, salt, the vanilla extract, 02:40 the cardamom and the coriander, and we want to process it. 03:07 After the ingredients are all processed, we want to add the 03:12 banana...bananas are a great source of potassium, 03:18 wonderful, break up the banana, process... 03:38 We want to make sure that everything is combined, 03:42 no lumps...there is a little lump there. 04:04 We get a bowl, add your blueberries, 04:21 and this is so filling, it's wonderful, 04:24 and there you have it. Look at this, the blueberries 04:31 add so much color and it's so delicious. 04:35 Our next recipe will be a Cheesy Hemp sauce. 04:40 The ingredients are: 05:16 Now, we are going to use the Food Processor because I want it 05:20 a little chunky, so we will start with Hemp seed... 05:25 Hemp seed is a great source of the essential fatty acids, 05:31 it is a power food, it's high in protein, 05:35 it's good when you want to work out and you want that 05:38 extra umpff, Hemp seeds are wonderful. 05:42 Combine the Hemp seed, the water, the red bell peppers, 05:51 the date, the Nutritional yeast, the onion, the Bragg's Aminos, 06:05 the salt, the Cayenne, and the Turmeric, and we process. 06:45 So we are going to plate it now. It smells incredible, 06:54 and it is a great source of protein, like I said 07:03 and it is so good for people that work out, 07:07 and they want that extra protein. 07:09 Look at the colors, the taste of it kind of reminds you of 07:19 pimento cheese, so I am going to try it. 07:26 I have celery sticks, and zucchini's, and carrots. 07:31 Let's see. Ummm! 07:37 This is so good. Remember, live life fresh. 07:54 Ohh! This is not easy. How are you all doing? 07:59 Well, I see Evita is making all of this food and didn't 08:03 even leave any for me. Well that's alright, 08:05 I went to get my own food, because we are going to go ahead 08:07 and we're going to cook on this Taste of Paradise Program, 08:10 and I know you all will enjoy... 08:12 Well, most importantly today, we are going to do something 08:14 really special. As you remember from past, we are now in the 08:18 V.I.P. room. I think you all remember what the V.I.P. room 08:22 is, I know it is a very important place, 08:24 a very important room of the house, and normally when we 08:28 think of the V.I.P. room, we think of Executive Clubs, 08:30 we think of maybe a club and there's a special area 08:33 or just a place where special people go. 08:36 Well, I'm going to invite everybody here today to the 08:38 V.I.P. room... as a matter of fact, I think you even have it 08:40 in your own home, and it is the kitchen. 08:43 I know many people think the bedroom is important, 08:46 or maybe even the bathroom... Now the bathroom is important, 08:49 you use it, you live, you don't use it, you may die. 08:52 So all of that is good, but today the kitchen, 08:56 we find out is the most important place. 08:58 There's an old saying and it is written, and it says, 09:01 Upon many graves it is written why the person... 09:04 If we could really see why it is written, why they are there, 09:07 it says because of poor cookery. 09:09 So if we can cook properly, and we can make this kitchen 09:12 the most important room in the house, 09:13 then maybe there won't be so many tomb stones anymore, 09:16 and we can all live. 09:17 But here's the key, a lot of people say ok, I want to use 09:20 my V.I.P. room...as a matter of fact, 09:22 I've spent all of this money on this thing... 09:25 As a matter of fact, when you look at renovations, 09:26 and you know, you watch these shows on TV, 09:28 which room do they spend the most money on? 09:31 Probably the kitchen, and so what we're going to do now, 09:34 we're going to take advantage of this. 09:35 Why spend 3, 4, 5, 10, $15,000 on a room and we barely use it? 09:41 My friend was sharing the other day, that he knows somebody 09:44 that has a three thousand square foot kitchen, 09:46 that is bigger than where I live, but they barely use it. 09:49 So now we are going to use it today, and a lot of people say 09:52 ok, alright, alright Nyse. So we want to use it, 09:54 but how do we do it? Well, here's the first thing. 09:57 As you see, I went shopping here, 09:59 I bought a lot of good, healthy food... 10:01 we got to look at some staples and different items 10:03 of that nature. But first and most importantly, 10:05 we got to make sure... There's a certain area 10:08 in this V.I.P. room, it's where you stock the goods. 10:11 A lot of times when I go into people's homes, and they say 10:14 I would love to learn how to cook and what do I need to do? 10:17 The first thing I go to, is the refrigerator, 10:21 and so many times when we go to this refrigerator... 10:24 I just came from one home and I went and I opened the 10:28 refrigerator, and it like scared me, it was so much stuff 10:33 in that fridge, I didn't know what to do. 10:35 How can we cook something when it looks like something 10:38 is already cooking in the fridge. 10:39 You all know what I'm talking about. 10:41 Stuff has been in that fridge for years, 10:44 that's not even talking about that door handle... 10:46 you' all know what I'm talking about those little containers 10:47 with those red, that red little paste in there. 10:50 Man, if you look at the dates, it already expired, 10:53 expired is usually supposed to mean in the future... 10:55 Our expiration date has already passed, we need to start 10:58 clearing up the refrigerator. You know, there is an old saying, 11:01 you don't know where you are going, if you don't know 11:05 where you are at. So let's find out where we are at 11:07 let's clean up the kitchen, and as I went into that home, 11:10 and I looked at the fridge, I said well, look here brother, 11:13 before we can start cooking today, we need to have some 11:16 directions. A path cleared out for us, and so he said 11:20 what shall I do? I said, let's clean the fridge, 11:22 and the funniest thing because as you see we went shopping 11:25 and when we brought all the food, there was no place 11:27 to put it, and you all know what I'm talking about. 11:28 Sometimes we forget about that fridge and we buy another 11:31 one, we have two fridges now, so we have so much blessings, 11:34 you know what I am talking about there as well. 11:36 We become over blessed, but we started to work on that fridge, 11:39 and started cleaning it, and you know what the funniest 11:42 thing was? We had so much room when we finished cleaning 11:45 the fridge. We had like two shelves empty and ready to roll, 11:49 but there was two big garbage bags on the floor, 11:52 Because there was so much stuff in there that was growing and 11:55 I don't know, if the police would have come an 11:57 they would have though he was making something else, 11:59 so you know what I am talking about. 12:00 But let's not grow any more in the fridge, 12:03 we have gardens for that, so let's clean it up and 12:06 let's get some direction and now after we done that part, 12:09 we have to find out, what are we going to stock the 12:12 V.I.P. room with. Many rooms are stocked with a lot 12:15 of things and you know what I'm talking about. 12:18 Different items of the nature, but this V.I.P. room, 12:21 the kitchen, the most important place of the house, 12:23 we're going to stock it with some simple staple items 12:26 that everybody can access, simple, cheap, cost effective, 12:32 and there is about five of them, you can probably add 12:35 six or seven, but today we are going to stick with five items, 12:37 that when you go to the store you need to pick up. 12:41 Don't leave your V.I.P. room unstocked without these items. 12:45 So there is five staple items that we are going to show you 12:48 here that every room, V.I.P. room should have. 12:50 Number one, you should have some fruits, 12:53 any kind, enjoy them, bananas, and apples, and berries, 12:57 and you name it. But fruits is good, but that's not the only 13:00 thing, you also need some whole grains, alright. 13:03 Now you notice that we didn't just say grains, we said 13:05 Whole Grains, such as brown rice, and whole wheat pasta, 13:09 and whole wheat bread, you know what I mean, they just call it 13:12 the W's, make sure everything is whole. 13:14 Then there is another key item that needs to be in every 13:17 V.I.P. room, and it is your Veggies. 13:21 You have the spinach, you have the kale, you have the carrots, 13:25 and pumpkins, some consider it fruit, whatever you consider it, 13:29 that's fine, make sure you have your veggies. 13:31 Then here's another key ingredient and you need some 13:34 Nuts, alright, nuts and seeds. You have the cashews, 13:38 and the walnuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, make sure you 13:42 have these groups going, ok. That's just the first four, 13:45 and then here's the key item here as we wrap up, 13:47 Beans, make sure you have beans in the house, lentils, and 13:51 kidney beans, and chickpeas, and pigeon peas, and you name it, 13:57 lentils and the whole works, just make sure you 14:00 have them, in the bag, in the can...we're going to look at 14:03 some of those items because people say, Nyse, 14:05 we always want to know, when you go shopping, 14:07 what do you buy? 14:08 Don't worry about me, there's a simple blueprint that's given 14:11 to all of us, and it's the fruits, and the grains, 14:14 and the nuts, and we have the veggies, and then we will look 14:17 at some of the other items, so if you want to see, let's start 14:19 with some of those. Here's some of the items that we are 14:22 are going to pick up right now, we got the first one which is 14:24 the fruits okay. You all remember what the fruits were, 14:27 we have the bananas, the banana is good for constipation, 14:31 good for diarrhea, it's good for everything. 14:33 I know you don't want to talk about these things while we are 14:34 in the kitchen, but hey, it's good for that any way, 14:36 and the potassium and all of those items. 14:39 I remember there was a lady, she finally...unfortunately 14:43 she was sick, and she went into the hospital and the doctors 14:45 were going to give her potassium, 14:47 and she said doctor, doctor, no potassium, 14:49 give me a banana please. The doctor said it's too late 14:52 for bananas miss, you should have ate the bananas while 14:55 you were outside healthy, instead of waiting until you 14:57 were sick in the hospital. 14:58 So hey, if we are in the V.I.P. room, grab yourself some 15:00 bananas, bananas are fantastic. 15:03 What are some of the other items, oh, apples, oh I'm so... 15:06 Well, it was time to eat you' all, so I just have to eat 15:10 you know, so as you can see the bag is open, so we have some 15:13 apples. An apple a day will keep disease away. 15:16 I know they usually say, keep the doctor away, 15:18 we don't want to keep doctor's away, it's good to go in 15:20 and get your check up's and stuff of that nature... 15:22 Do you remember, we don't know where we are at, 15:24 or where we are going if we don't know where we are at. 15:26 So please, eat an apple a day... These are fantastic! 15:29 What else do we have here, we have some kiwi, 15:32 fantastic for the immune system, these are just nice little items 15:36 to keep around the house. You have your oranges, 15:39 or these are like little tangerines... 15:41 I like these because these are really easy, oranges is just 15:44 to much time to be cutting and all of that stuff. 15:46 I just rip this open and it's a done deal, so that is good. 15:50 What are some other fruits we can... Oh my, 15:52 you know what I used to say? That what Eve ate from the tree 15:56 it was apple, I kind of beg to differ, 15:59 it may have been a mango, it's too sweet, 16:02 apples are great, but there not as good as a mango. 16:05 So I think the mango came off and let's just seek God 16:10 in all things and study the Bible and that should be 16:12 enough knowledge for us. 16:13 What are some other fruits that we should have? 16:15 Tomatoes, uh oh, I don't want no problems in here today, 16:18 but yeah, tomato... What is a fruit? 16:20 A fruit as the Bible says is something that bears a seed, 16:23 so we have the tomato, it has seed so, a.k.a. fruit, 16:27 is that alright? So we have the fruits there. 16:29 What is another fruit? Oh my, red bell peppers 16:33 as we can see here. Do you know red bell peppers 16:36 are amazing for you, when think of vitamin C, 16:40 normally we think of oranges, tangerines, and kiwi, 16:44 and stuff of that nature. Well I need you all to try 16:47 something new. Do you it is shown that red bell peppers 16:51 contain up to four times the amount of vitamin C 16:55 than our orange. Now let's call a time out, 16:58 are we saying that oranges are bad? Not at all, 17:00 oranges are fantastic. But cold and flu season come around, 17:03 I am not running and buying supplements, 17:05 I am running and buying me some red bell peppers. 17:08 Some people call them sweet peppers, whatever the name, 17:10 just eat them, they are fantastic, now you notice, 17:12 I said the red and not the green and not the orange, 17:14 and not the yellow, the pink, they got purple ones these days, 17:16 the red ones is the key items that you want to get. 17:20 And one last fruit that we have here is Avocado. 17:23 Some call it ourcotte. or saboca, you all know what I'm 17:29 talking about, the avocado. Now I know a lot of times 17:31 when you buy these avocado's, some may be ripe, 17:35 and some are not ripe or sometimes none of them are ripe, 17:38 or all of them are green, that's actually a good thing, 17:41 still buy it, because what I like to do, a lot of times 17:44 when we go to people's homes... remember how the fridge was 17:47 growing things. It's because they buy everything ripe 17:49 at the same time. Now we are not going to eat everything 17:52 in the same moment, alright, so in order to stock this 17:55 V.I.P. room, you have to plan, you just can't plan for 17:57 that day, you have to plan for the whole week. 17:59 So I buy one or two that's ripe and ready and tender to go, 18:02 and then I buy a couple that are green... 18:05 and even though I live in the city, I grow my own, 18:10 and what I mean is that I buy the green ones, 18:11 and I put them under, I take care of them, 18:13 keep them in the dark, and when the time is ready, 18:15 I grab them, so I pluck them, I don't pluck them off the tree 18:18 as they should, but I plucked them out of the cabinet 18:22 and stuff of that nature. So avocado, please buy some 18:24 ripe, buy some un- ripe, and you should be good. 18:28 Let's go to the next food group, which is grains, 18:31 this is crucial, a lot of people try to eat healthy 18:34 and enjoy a Taste of Paradise. Now Paradise does have a lot 18:38 of fruits, but also grains, and we are going to go on to 18:41 like menu planning and items of that nature. 18:43 If you only eat fruits in the morning for breakfast, 18:45 what's going to happen in an hour or two? 18:46 You're starving, but you also need to have a complete diet 18:50 and that's why we are going to look at some grains here. 18:52 So let's grab some grains and you all know what I'm 18:56 talking about here, I'll just grab them. 18:58 I'm talking about "Oats", ok, so you have the oats here, 19:05 this is "Old Fashioned Oats", you also have...Uh oh! 19:09 Oh, this one was opened, no problem, we in the kitchen, 19:11 are making a mess, have a good time, so you have the 19:13 "Quick Oats" as well. The "Quick Oats" right here is fantastic. 19:18 What else do we have? We have some other "whole grains" 19:21 which is "Whole Wheat Pasta". I know we talk about 19:25 whole grains and all of that stuff, but a lot of times we 19:29 skip, we eat "Whole Wheat Bread", we eat oats and 19:33 all of that stuff, but when it comes to pasta, 19:35 it's like we jump off the ship, you know what I mean, 19:37 and we go for the white pasta. Now that white pasta is going to 19:40 cause a little problem such as a.k.a., constipation, 19:43 so that's why we use what, whole wheat pasta. 19:47 This is fantastic, you can buy so many, and a matter of fact, 19:50 their doing a very good job now with the Whole Wheat Pasta's. 19:53 Remember back in the days when I used to be young, 19:55 I don't think you all were around back then, 19:57 well, when I used to be young and they started making this 19:59 Whole Wheat Pasta, oh man, it was a," if you don't mind", 20:02 it was a disaster. The thing was rough and you would eat it, 20:06 and you were like ma, can I get the real stuff because 20:08 this "Whole Wheat" stuff is no good. 20:09 But here's the little rule of thumb, for some reason 20:13 along the way I learned that if something went in rough, 20:16 it usually came out soft. Alright, I am sorry, excuse me. 20:21 But it's just the truth, when it goes in rough, 20:24 because of the fiber and stuff, it gets in and it keeps things 20:28 moving and pushes things out and they come out soft. 20:30 But when something goes in smooth, white bread, 20:33 white rice, white pasta, you know that it may not even 20:36 come out some time. Of course it will come out, 20:38 but it will come out rough, people are there and struggling 20:40 and praying "Lord help me", for number two you know, 20:43 when you go to the bathroom. So please, "Whole Grains", 20:46 "Whole Grains". And the last item that I have here 20:49 besides that is a "Whole Grain Rice", this is "Brown Rice" 20:55 ok, now there's a lot of rice out there that look brown, 20:58 but it is not "Whole Grain". a.k.a., par-boiled rice. 21:02 That means that they just went ahead and cooked it 21:03 a little bit for you, treated it a little bit. 21:05 But "Whole Grain Brown Rice" is a crucial staple to have 21:09 in your V.I.P. room along with the other ones. 21:13 How can you tell if your rice is a whole grain, 21:15 when you look at it closely, it should have three parts to it. 21:19 Ok you ready for the three parts? 21:20 First part, it should have some fiber on it, 21:24 so when you look at the brown rice, you see little specks 21:26 and stuff of that nature, that's a good sign, 21:28 Ok, that helps keep things moving. 21:30 Then you see at the end of it a little white spot, 21:33 that's called the germ, a.k.a wheat germ, 21:36 and so you have that there, and then you have the endosperm 21:40 which is just the white rice, the cheapest thing around. 21:42 And then we have the whole wheat bread, 21:44 now it's best to go ahead and make your own bread, 21:47 because you ever try to buy bread is the store that 21:50 was healthy? Whew, I mean they have so many ingredients 21:54 in them, you just...One whole side of the loaf has like 21:58 a million ingredients, you can't keep up with it. 22:00 The only bread that I have found if I am on the move and stuff, 22:03 is like whole wheat pita bread. They only use about four 22:06 or five, maybe six ingredients, this is a good sign of a good 22:09 bread, and so I need this to try and look for that, 22:12 and if you can't find it, there is no reason why 22:14 you should be using white bread per se, you can go ahead 22:17 and start making your own bread. 22:19 So we have the fruits, we have the grains, let's go to some 22:22 more here. We're going to move on to some nuts, 22:25 ok, what are some nuts that we should have in our V.I.P. room? 22:30 Ok, here is the V.I.P. room. We have Brazil nuts, 22:33 fantastic, I don't know if you remember a couple of shows 22:36 that we've used Brazil nuts. It's crucial to make some nice, 22:40 really healthy gravy and if somebody is looking to like, 22:43 stop, you know what I mean, smoking, 22:44 and you wanted to help them, of course we are going to 22:47 pray for them, but number two, Brazil nuts help with the 22:50 cessation, there to help them to move away from smoking. 22:54 Almonds is a crucial item to have you can make Almond Milk, 22:57 you can make Almond Cheese, you put it in your cereal, 23:03 as we've done previously, and walnuts is fantastic. 23:07 There's an old little tip there, what organ of the body is 23:11 is the walnut good for? It looks like the what? 23:14 The brain, so it's good for brain, it provides Omega's, 23:18 along with flax seed, or some call it linseed, so enjoy these, 23:23 however, in moderation. 23:25 Please, some time we people, we only want you to have a handful 23:30 of nuts. Some of us do handsful, some of us do a whole bag full, 23:34 some of us eat a whole can full, and we are wondering why we 23:38 can't balance those blessings, to much nuts, to much fats. 23:41 To much of a good thing can be a bad thing. 23:43 So we have the nuts there, and I just wanted to share a couple 23:48 of other items...If you look on your Food Pyramid and stuff, 23:51 you'll notice that it talks about the nuts pistachios, 23:54 I forgot about this one. This one is fantastic for people 23:57 who are dealing with anemia. This provides a good amount of 24:00 iron, and it's fantastic, you can buy them unsalted, 24:03 great, if not take it anyway, it's still good for you. 24:06 Then we have the olive oil there which is fantastic, 24:10 Extra Virgin, Cold Pressed, and sometimes you want to try 24:12 the light tasting one when you making deserts and 24:16 recipes when you don't want that strong olive oil 24:19 flavor, you go for the light one. 24:21 Then we found some nice healthy soy butter as well 24:25 as you see that there, this is pretty good, they are doing 24:28 a good job, but stay tuned, stay tuned, 24:30 and keep watching the program, we're going to show you how to 24:32 make your own butter, and it you don't mind, 24:34 this is "A Taste of Paradise" right? 24:36 You cannot have or go without "Coconut Milk" in your 24:42 V.I.P. room, this is crucial and we'll explain, 24:45 some people are afraid of coconut milk, I am not sure why, 24:48 it's actually good for you. If you get stranded on an island 24:51 you can live off of coconut, the water, for who knows how long, 24:54 and then by the mercies of God. 24:56 So Coconut Milk, have one around but please moderation, 25:00 sometimes people take this whole thing and they are just 25:02 pouring it in everything. 25:04 We are going to use some recipe's with this, 25:05 so make sure you stock your V.I.P. room. 25:07 But let's move on to a couple of last items here... 25:10 Ohhh! I just remembered Quinoa, Quinoa, you all know Quinoa, 25:14 this is fantastic good for high in protein... 25:17 So we have our fruits here, we have our grains, 25:20 we have our nuts, and now we are going to go to one 25:23 or two last items in my bag... I bought so much food, 25:26 I could barely keep up with it, Beans, make sure you have 25:31 the beans. This is necessary, this is a fundamental food. 25:35 We are going to do a special program called 25:37 "Pinching the Pennies", alright, don't let the penny pinch you, 25:40 you pinch the penny and we will show you that by just 25:42 using grains, and nuts, and beans, you can actually save 25:46 quite a bit. So we have the Lentils there, 25:48 those are the dried ones, we can also, oh, 25:51 we got some more over here, you can also buy them in a can. 25:54 I know everybody give grief, ahh, don't buy the can, 25:57 too much salt and all that stuff.
