00:01 Have you ever wondered exactly how to prepare healthy food that
00:04 actually tastes good. Well stay tuned while Evita Tezeno 00:07 and yours truly, Nyse Collins, shows you exactly how to do it 00:10 and give you something better, A Taste of Paradise. 00:30 Welcome to A Taste of Paradise, my name in Evita Tezeno 00:34 You know, everybody loves desserts 00:37 and today's recipes are two of my favorite desserts 00:42 Raw carob mousse pudding and pineapple ice box dessert 00:48 Two of my really delicious recipes 00:52 Now the first recipe is the raw carob mousse 00:57 and everybody loves chocolate. But we're not using chocolate 01:01 today, we're using carob. And the recipe is 01:19 And here is a great source of fat 01:24 and it makes recipes creamy 01:27 my favorite fruit, Avocado. 01:41 And avocados are a great source of fat 01:49 A great source of so many different minerals, and 01:55 vitamins. And if you noticed how I took the seed out 02:00 very simple. Just turn it and the seed comes out. 02:07 And one of our main ingredients today is carob powder. 02:13 And the reason why I don't do chocolate 02:16 is because of the way chocolate is processed. 02:19 We're putting in carob powder. 02:24 Dates 02:28 Mineral sea salt 02:34 Vanilla extract 02:37 Fresh almond milk 02:43 And we process it. 03:00 Ok, we're going to check it to make sure everything is blended 03:12 I need to process this a little bit more. 03:31 Look at this creamy, beautiful pudding. 03:40 Homemade carob pudding 03:46 And yes it has avocados and that's a little strange, but 03:52 and kids love this recipe, it's easy, it's sweet 03:58 it's delicious 04:03 We're gonna top it off with a strawberry 04:07 And there you have it. 04:11 And the next recipe, the Pineapple Icebox dessert 04:16 and the ingredients are 04:48 So we're going to start with the crust. And we have cashews 04:55 that have been soaked and dehydrated 05:03 We have honey 05:09 And you could use any sweetener you want, you could use honey 05:13 you could use Agave 05:16 and I think Maple Syrup would be a bit too strong 05:20 and a pinch of salt 05:24 and then you want to process this 05:44 So this is your crust 05:51 and we have a 9 inch pan 05:57 and we put this mixture at the bottom. 06:07 Just press it in 06:16 You want to sprinkle it in, it doesn't have to be 06:19 distributed all over the bottom but you want to have some 06:24 cause you want to reserve some of the cashew 06:27 mixture for the top. 06:32 And then we'll do the filling 06:35 These are soaked cashews as well 06:41 Water 06:44 Coconut oil 06:47 it has been slightly melted 06:51 Vanilla extract 06:57 and salt. 07:01 On everything smells so good. I love coconut oil. 07:32 You want to make sure that it's really, really creamy 07:35 so you're gonna have to process it a little bit more 07:58 Take this wonderful mixture and combine it with fresh pineapple 08:10 You wanna make sure we get every little bit of it 08:14 This is so yummy and so creamy 08:23 This reminds me of a vacation because of the pineapple 08:29 It's very tropical. It has the coconut oil and the pineapple 08:37 Mix it up 08:51 Put it in your pan 08:59 and then you want to put the topping on it 09:04 Another very simple recipe 09:07 Not a whole lot of ingredients 09:11 Not a whole lot of time 09:21 And very, very simple. Simple simple, simple. 09:33 And here you have it. 09:51 Our pineapple icebox dessert 09:54 Let us always remember, Live Life Fresh 10:08 Good lookin cookin! How to make some healthy avocado oil 10:13 Who knew, who knew that you could actually make avocado oil 10:17 yourself? Oil from avocado. I know throughout the program 10:21 you've seen so much avocado. Evita, she just knocked off 10:24 a nice puddin there with some avocado in it. You're like, man 10:28 avocado this, avocado that. We've also been learning 10:31 throughout the program, does avocado have cholesterol? 10:34 And when we realized cholesterol is only manufactured in liver 10:37 we realized avocado has what? Zero cholesterol. So this thing 10:41 is amazing. One person said you can live off of avocado 10:45 bread and water. That's why it's so good. But who knew that 10:49 this avocado is not only good for healin the body but is also 10:54 internally, but it's also good outside. That's why we've 10:57 titled today's program 'Good Lookin Cookin' 11:00 And I wanna let you all know that we have a special guest 11:03 one of our guest consultants here to assist us with this 11:07 program, cause you know I don't think I'll look that great 11:10 I'm alright you know, pray for me. Pray for me but we're 11:12 all made in God's image, is that right? But we all can step it up 11:15 a little notch and get closer to that image that He has set 11:19 for us and so we have one of our special guests. Her name is 11:23 Chanelle Green. How are you today? 11:25 I'm very well thank you 11:27 Good news. Now you've come all the way to assist us. 11:30 You're a consultant and I like consultants, and you know 11:34 our goal is education or restoration through education 11:38 is that alright? And so we've been teaching people 11:41 you've come all the way to assist us from UK 11:44 from the UK, where in the UK? 11:46 I'm from Birmingham. Birmingham, UK. 11:48 You know when I think of the UK, I only think of London 11:50 I'm sorry, but now I realize there's more to the UK 11:54 United Kingdom or England than just London and so you're workin 11:59 over there, helpin the people. One of your specialties 12:03 that's what we call it is hair and skin care and stuff of 12:08 that nature. How's that thing going for you? 12:11 It's been going very well. It's a journey. Some of us call it 12:14 a hair journey or a skin journey It's been going really well. 12:17 Right. Because a lot of times people are dealing with 12:19 different situations and these situations are not easy 12:23 at all you know, with the skin, eczema. The hair is all just 12:27 messed up and we're trying to find different ways you know 12:31 especially in certain communities to use natural 12:34 items and who knew we can actually do it ourselves? So 12:39 what do we have lined up? I know how to eat avocado. 12:42 What are we gonna do today? Ok today we're going to make 12:45 our own avocado oil. That's right. We're gonna make it 12:49 straight from scratch. And what we want to let people know is 12:52 when they have old avocados at home they don't need to throw 12:55 them away. There's another use for them. 12:57 There is? Real quick. We know Avocado helps lowers cholesterol 13:01 right? And if you've all been tuning in you've learned that 13:05 It's good to lower cholesterol It's fantastic for people 13:08 dealing with anemia. What else? So we have cholesterol, anemia 13:13 circulatory problems. Is there anything else that avocado 13:18 is good for? Yes. The Avocado Oil contains a lot of Vitamin A 13:23 and also a lot of protein and that's really good for makin 13:26 the hair look moisturized and shiny and things like that 13:29 so that's why it's good for the hair. 13:31 Wow, I'm so glad it's good for the hair and what else? 13:33 It's also good for the skin because it contains Vitamin E 13:37 E is like a powerful antioxidant 13:39 It helps with cellular aging and things like that, Wow what 13:43 So that's why it's a good thing to put on our hair and skin too 13:46 Just a second y'all. We need to look at this thing closely here 13:50 We can almost stop the aging process here by usin this 13:54 Now I always tell people when we're teachin 13:56 and stuff of that nature, that avocado because of the Vitamin E 14:00 yes, it's good for the skin. But we usually do that what? 14:03 internally. We usually eat it up we're making guacamole 14:07 and we're makin the carob puddin that Evita just did 14:10 and so many other things but also we're startin to learn now 14:14 that it's good externally as well. So man, enjoy the thing 14:19 As a matter of fact I got a little note for y'all 14:21 You have the address here, Dare to Dream. If you think avocado 14:26 is no good for you, please send your avocados in. I'll gladly 14:31 take all of them so me and Chanelle can work on makin 14:34 our own oil and you know what we'll do for you all? 14:36 we'll package it nicely and we will just sell it back to you. 14:40 Or, you could just what? Do it yourself. You know what I mean? 14:43 And so that's why we're here to educate and we believe 14:46 restoration could take place that way. 14:49 Is there any other item that we need to know about this avocado 14:52 So it's good for, now what's wrong with our hair? 14:55 Like why do we need it for our hair? 14:57 It's not that anything is wrong with our hair but what it is 15:00 particularly with black hair it can be quite dry and that's 15:04 because our hair pattern tends to be quite coily or kinky 15:07 some people may want to say 15:08 and so if you have like black hair, if a white person has 15:11 black hair, it would be dry? I'm just messin with you 15:14 So you're talkin about the African American community 15:18 or people of a darker complexion their hair is usually a little 15:22 rougher, not rougher, I call that a blessing 15:26 You know what I mean, because my hair you know if you don't mind 15:29 you know my mom is from Trinidad it's a little, little messy 15:33 not messy but a little thick so when I had it really long 15:37 and stuff of that nature people said, man you'll never get 15:41 hair lice and I said why not? Cause the lice can't live 15:44 in your hair, you know it's too rough, it's like a jungle 15:47 Ouch, you know what I mean so for those who have more coarse 15:51 hair, is anything wrong or what happens in that case? 15:55 There's nothing wrong at all the sebum that the scalp 15:58 naturally produces it doesn't always make it to the end of 16:01 the hair shaft. As a result of that our hair is dryer and tends 16:04 to break a lot easier. That's why it's important to moisturize 16:07 our hair. Moisturize our hair with the best thing possible 16:10 which is always the most natural option available. 16:13 Wow, so that's what it does there. And in regards to this 16:17 skin, it's good for the hair now so we put it on the scalp 16:20 You can, you can put it on the scalp. It's good for the scalp 16:23 as well because it helps strengthen the hair root 16:25 Now what it is like, when I was younger I used to tie my 16:28 hair back into a real tight ponytail and as a result of that 16:31 the hair around here started to fall out and a lot of people 16:34 yeah, a lot of people struggle with those kinds of things 16:37 Avocado oil helps strengthen the hair root. 16:40 I know what you're talkin about because I used to remember 16:42 my sister, she used to be puttin it back I'd be like, sis 16:44 you're messin up your hair. Look it just started receding 16:47 now you're lookin like us when we went to the barber 16:49 and he made a mistake. Stop pullin it, and she used to put 16:52 it so tight you can even see the hair going crick, crick 16:54 and I'm like take it easy. So that happens in our case huh? 16:59 So this is gonna help that in the process. It will help. 17:01 So watch this now. We learn about the avocado, the Vitamin A 17:05 the antioxidants and the As and all of the good stuff 17:08 I wanna learn how to make this alright? I think you all are 17:12 interested as well. We're gonna share with you a simple, simple 17:15 recipe I guess that we can use and make for ourselves at home 17:21 And it's really simple. Here's our 17:41 Now hold on one second, one second 17:43 That's all you need? That's all you need. 17:46 I don't need no big machine, I don't need to call a company 17:48 I don't need to be doin this extracting process stuff 17:52 All I have is this here. And we're talkin about this avocado 17:55 As we can see this one is in bad shape here, and so we don't 18:03 throw it out. No we don't throw it out, that's perfect in fact 18:06 This is perfect. So what we've done already is what? We went 18:08 ahead and we cut up some of those avocados 18:10 Yes. And what did you do? You just mashed it there? 18:13 We need to mash it into a coarse paste, yes so we're going mash 18:18 these down now and it's going to make it easier to blend 18:21 when we put it in the blender so that's about ready now. 18:24 Oh so do I add some salt, onion and garlic? No 18:26 Or like maybe some tomatoes or something? 18:29 No flavoring because we're not gonna eat it but gonna put it 18:31 in our hair, so. Man, I was thinking we'll make some avocado 18:35 oil here and stuff of that nature. So we're gonna take this 18:37 and we're gonna put it in a blender you said? Yeah. 18:39 That's correct. Alright, so here's your nice little spoon 18:42 Thank you so much. You go right ahead and do that and as you 18:47 really, really simple and easy for us to make. Everybody can 18:50 do this as we see. You just have the avocado there, 18:56 then we have some coconut cream, yes we can put that in there 19:00 coconut cream, what if I don't have coconut cream? 19:03 That's ok. The coconut cream is completely optional. You don't 19:06 need to put that in there. Ok so you don't even need that 19:10 but if you do it's helpful I guess in the process 19:14 And you could even do that yourself. You just take that 19:18 coconut and you just mash it up or blend it up 19:21 the same process is where you can make coconut cream yourself 19:26 and I think most of you all know how to do it yourself 19:29 so what are we gonna do now? Ok, we're gonna blend this down 19:32 now until it becomes a smooth green paste. 19:43 OK, that's it. We're done. That's it? 19:46 That's all it takes. Can I add a little honey 19:49 or something, it looks like a nice...you could too 19:51 coconut cream avocado milkshake or somethin of that nature 19:57 Well you could but it would be a complete waste of time 19:58 I really don't want to put this in my hair though, I wanna... 20:01 OK, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm messing you up here. 20:04 Ok go ahead. What are we gonna do now? Put this in a skillet or 20:07 saucepan and turn up the heat a little bit. 20:10 What we need to do now is cook this paste on low heat 20:14 Ok so we're gonna pour this into the skillet there 20:17 I'm gonna cook it on low heat I'm not gonna lie to you guys 20:21 it's does take a little while. 20:22 And so..can I put it there? Yes, you go ahead 20:25 So what you're not gonna lie to us, well I hope not. 20:28 No I'm not gonna lie to you. It's gonna take a little while 20:30 So the paste starts off lookin like this, nice and green 20:35 and creamy. I'm gonna cook that on low heat 20:37 for about 45-60 minutes 20:40 45-60 minutes? Yes and there's a reason why we need to do that 20:44 Nice. Ok why is that? 20:45 Ok what we need to do is, at the moment there's a lot of oil 20:48 droplets in there. Really small oil droplets. What we need 20:52 to do is make those droplets come together into larger oil 20:55 droplets so that we are able to extract the oil easier 20:59 Now there's a weird name for that. What's that process called 21:02 Called Malaxation. So Relaxation. You just relax 21:06 a little bit there, relaxation? Malaxation. Malax 21:11 So mastication, so you have to chew it and spit it back out 21:14 Malaxation. Malaxation. So I just let this go ahead and 21:18 relax a little bit. That's right So in about 45-60 minutes 21:22 on a low heat. What do I do after? On a low heat you keep 21:24 stirring now, every 5 minutes you keep stirring it 21:27 and eventually that there should end up looking like the 21:30 finished product that we have. 21:32 So we have the finished product. Let me go ahead and get another 21:35 one of the finished product that you've been workin on 21:38 you could put that on the side there. Ok. 21:40 OK, alright and this is the finished product, wow! 21:43 It went from coconut cream to coconut avocado 21:51 I don't know what this thing is but it looks burnt or something 21:54 That's how it's meant to look it's meant to look a dark brown 21:56 or a dark green and that's an indication that it's ready 22:00 for pressing so we're gonna get the oil out now. 22:02 So that's perfect. So I stop right here? Yeah 22:04 you can stop right there. So what we gonna do now 22:08 is we're gonna take some of that paste and we're gonna 22:11 put it into the cloth we have right here and we're gonna 22:14 extract the oil. So we're gonna extract the oil, okay? 22:18 Indeed. Let's do that then. OK 22:20 Ok, so you wanna use this spoon here? 22:22 Let me do that. Now if you don't mind let me, why don't 22:27 you pour this in for me cause I have to learn. So we're gonna 22:30 switch spots here, actually ok that's good, that's good 22:33 scoot over a little bit, yeah 22:35 Now be careful cause it's still a little bit hot 22:37 Yeah, so usually you let it cool down 22:40 just a little bit and stuff of that nature 22:41 Correct. And then you put that there 22:43 I'm gonna put all this mixture right in there. 22:46 I'm gonna put some more in there for ya 22:49 There you go. Oh, this looks like. I could probably throw 22:53 some oats with this and make an avocado coconut burger 22:58 or something of that nature 23:00 Ok so what you need to do now Wow look at that oil 23:03 You can see it already, can't you? 23:05 Start to twist that cloth there 23:08 Twist it all the way down to put the paste under pressure 23:12 You can see it's all... WOW it's trying to come out there 23:15 Avocado oil, I'm making a mess look at me, don't get too, oh my 23:20 Glory, this is amazing! Wonderful! 23:23 What? This is avocado oil? It sure is. 23:27 And what you can do with that you can mix it with some natural 23:30 coconut oil, some olive oil or something like that 23:33 to make it stretch. That is amazing. Yeah 23:37 I made oil, watch it now. What I would like to do personally 23:40 is put it in some sort of container so I can easily 23:42 apply it to my scalp and put it through my hair 23:45 so that's wonderful. 23:47 That is pretty neat. Good job, good job. 23:49 You're teachin me, you're teachin me. There's probably 23:53 more oil in there. There is a lot more oil in there. 23:55 I've squeezed it enough so what do you do you pour that in there 23:57 Yes. I'm gonna put this over here. Do you want to tip that 23:59 in there? Yeah sure. So we have avocado oil. Look at that 24:05 No way, I can't believe it right now. It's wonderful. 24:08 I know you think I'm just hypin up a bit. No, no, no 24:10 This is awesome. Let me grab something. Ok 24:14 Oil, look at that. Let me wipe it in my hair. 24:17 You could do that. But while you're doing that you did 24:19 something there. You see the pulp that we're left with 24:21 Yeah, ok. This stuff here. 24:23 That's right. If I could get this from over here 24:26 You don't need to throw the pulp away. 24:28 There are things you can do with that. 24:30 Like I said, Avocado is also very good for the skin 24:33 So what you can do is make a facial mask out of that 24:36 blend some cucumber in with that. 24:37 So you mean I still can't throw this away? 24:39 Don't throw it away. Don't throw anything away. 24:41 We can still use this. So we're gonna mix that in with some 24:44 with some cucumber over there. So we've done that one already 24:48 So you take the cucumber. I know cucumber is very good 24:50 And y'all need to check this out real quick. 24:53 I remember one time I was on the beach, alright. 24:56 I was on the beach, I was hangin out thinking I'm gonna 25:00 gonna have a good time and the sun got a little hot. I'm like 25:04 My mother is from Trinidad she's Black but I totally 25:07 forgot that my father is White he's Italian. And so I'm just 25:10 like havin a good time. I was like, you know people of a 25:13 darker complexion need seven times more sunlight than those 25:15 of a lighter complexion. I'm like, I'm Black 25:17 and then the sun burned me and I ended up looking like a 25:20 a cherry tomato and my friends were laughin at me 25:23 and they were like, you gotta stick to your roots 25:25 I said well my roots is all split up. And they were just 25:27 makin fun and I was like what am I gonna do? They were like 25:29 put cream and stuff. I ran to the restaurant and asked them 25:32 for what? Cucumber. I took the cucumber and wiped it all over 25:35 my face, all over my body and the next morning 25:38 sunburn was gone. So that's pretty good. So cucumber 25:41 is good for the skin as well. It sure is, so you mix that in 25:43 in the blender the same way we mix the avocado 25:45 mix it altogether and there's a face mask right there. 25:48 Ok, so you take this now with cut up cucumbers 25:51 put it back in the blender, blend it again 25:54 Poor avocados are like, leave me alone you know. 25:56 You know what I mean? I'm done 25:58 Um and then what? And then you have this right here. 26:01 You do indeed. So what to do with this now? 26:03 You just put it on your face. Just as simple as that 26:05 Put it on your face, leave it on for a little bit, wash it off 26:08 and then you're good to go. 26:09 No way. It's that simple 26:12 When I see this I only think about eating it, you know 26:14 what I mean? And so this is pretty good. Alright, alright 26:17 but isn't this kinda little expensive to do, because 26:21 these are Hmm avocados. I call them Hmm avocados because they 26:24 are like so small, like Hmm and it's already done, you're 26:30 already ate it. So it's quite expensive no to make this. 26:34 Well the things is, the amount of money we tend to spend 26:37 on our hair anyway in comparison it's really not that expensive 26:40 The biggest investment you're going to make doing this 26:43 all the time as opposed to the money, so if you think about 26:46 the amount that you can spend on hair oil, your hair moisturizer 26:49 or hair shampoo and things of that nature, it's a lot more 26:52 expensive than making some simple avocado oil 26:55 Ok, ok. Well let me get back over here if you don't mind 26:58 we'll switch up a little bit so this one's still cooking 27:00 so I'll just keep an eye on that and keep mixin every 5 minutes 27:04 and then we should be good. So it's actually, actually 27:07 it's actually worth it to be honest with you all 27:11 I think we should all give it a try you know. It may cost 27:14 you a little extra but it's actually not costing you anythin 27:16 you ever notice when you go to the store and buy these avocados 27:19 and you get some, you ate some and the rest you have all these 27:22 black lines and they start goin bad on you? 27:24 We don't have to throw that away no more. 27:27 That's actually the best time to use it, to make this. So 27:31 if you don't have all of the 4 avocados that are spoiled 27:34 or bad at the same time, no problem. Take that, put that 27:37 in the freezer in a ziplock bag save it until you have enough 27:41 and then you make this same recipe so you can be good lookin 27:45 You could be cookin and makin some avocado oil the same time 27:49 and actually you save even more So not only are you savin 27:53 but you're lookin good and you are cookin with some nice 27:57 avocado oil. So enjoy and give it a try. |
