00:01 Have you ever wondered
00:02 exactly how to prepare healthy food 00:04 that actually tastes good? 00:05 Well, stay tuned, while Evita Tezeno 00:07 and yours truly, Nyse Collins, 00:09 show you just how to do it, 00:10 and give you something better, a Taste of Paradise. 00:30 Welcome to a Taste of Paradise. 00:32 My name is Evita Tezeno 00:34 and you guys, this is season five. 00:37 Yes. 00:38 And what I've been doing since the last season, 00:41 I have been experimenting in the kitchen 00:43 and coming up with some fabulous recipes. 00:46 I've been cheffing at a new raw restaurant 00:48 in Dallas, Texas, 00:50 and I have been having a ball. 00:52 Yes, but this program, 00:55 I am coming up 00:57 with a wonderful Asian stir not fry. 01:03 Yes, I love Asian food but it tends to be fatty 01:07 and it's fried with oil, but this one is all-raw, 01:11 all-fresh ingredients and it is gonna be fabulous. 01:16 Let's go to the recipe. 01:19 For the sauce we need: 01:48 Now if you have problems with soy, 01:51 this is what I found that you can do. 01:53 You can soak sun-dried tomatoes and used in water 01:59 and use the liquid, 02:01 maybe put a little salt in it 02:03 but it's already salty 02:04 but if it's not salty enough for you, 02:06 you can put a little salt in it 02:08 and that will give you the flavor 02:11 if you have a soy allergy. 02:13 But today we're gonna use the liquid aminos, 02:18 and we're starting off with that. 02:23 We have our lemon juice and fresh is always the best. 02:30 We have our extra virgin olive oil. 02:37 Our dates, and I'm using Medjool dates, 02:40 that's my favorite but whatever dates is handy 02:44 that you have around the house 02:46 or you find in the store, is good. 02:48 But I prefer the Medjool dates because they're sweeter. 02:52 We have our garlic cloves. 02:56 Fresh ginger and I love ginger especially, 03:00 for colds, it's wonderful. 03:03 So I usually put a lot of ginger in food 03:06 'cause it makes it really tasty. 03:09 A little ground mustard 03:12 and because I like that kick 03:14 because I am from the Louisiana area, 03:18 I always love the spiciness of food 03:21 so we put a little cayenne. 03:27 And we're gonna blend it. 03:48 And one thing I forgot to mention, 03:50 when you use dates, 03:53 make sure that you make sure that they're pitted 03:55 because sometimes the Medjool dates 03:58 do have pits in them, 03:59 so make sure that you open them up 04:04 and see if there's pits. 04:06 Dates are fabulous, you guys, it's nature's candy. 04:10 They're high in fiber, they're high in iron, 04:14 they're loaded with vitamin A, 04:16 and there are a good snack where, they're not sugary 04:21 so it will not heighten your blood sugar, 04:24 it's just wonderful. 04:26 So what we're gonna do next 04:28 is we're gonna read the ingredients 04:30 for the next recipe. 04:34 For the vegetables you need: 04:56 You know, this is my favorite tool 04:58 in the kitchen is a spiralizer 05:01 and I know you've seen me use it on zucchini a lot, 05:05 but you can also use it on sweet potatoes, on beets, 05:09 in carrots you can't because it's real skinny 05:12 but I just love this tool. 05:15 So I'm gonna show you 05:17 if this is your first time tuning in, 05:20 I'm gonna show you how to use it. 05:22 So you take a zucchini and you chop the ends off. 05:28 And you insert this in like this 05:33 and you turn it. 05:35 And it makes these fabulous ribbon-like 05:39 or noodle-like zucchini. 05:46 This is just, it's just amazing 05:50 and it kind of fools your brain 05:52 and really you think you're eating pasta. 05:57 And this works with, 05:59 you could use it like raw spaghetti, 06:02 it's a great tool to have in kitchen, 06:06 and it's very economical. 06:09 So we're gonna take the spiralized zucchini 06:13 and what I like to do is break it up a little bit 06:17 and you can cut it with scissors. 06:20 Or you can chop it up 06:22 on your chopping board a little bit. 06:27 But they tend to be very long. 06:30 So I like to cut them up a little bit 06:33 or just break them up a little bit. 06:37 And then we're going to take 06:39 the shredded 06:44 cabbage, 06:46 the green onions. 06:52 And I like to chop up a little bit 06:55 of these bell peppers there. 06:59 Chop them up, just roughly chop them. 07:05 And this dish is very, very colorful, 07:10 it's just gorgeous. 07:12 You'll be the envy of all your friends. 07:17 Have the cabbage, the carrots, 07:19 and the Bok choy which is Chinese cabbage. 07:29 And then we take our sauce 07:32 and just pour it over here like so... 07:41 and you toss it. 07:47 And you don't have to use as much you could 07:50 if you're doing this recipe just for you 07:54 or with or just two people, 07:57 you cannot use as many spiralized zucchinis, 08:01 you could just cut down 08:02 and just maybe use two instead of four. 08:06 But usually when I make food, I make it for a lot of people 08:11 and it goes really fast. 08:12 So I like to make a lot of it. 08:18 So now we're gonna plate it. 08:29 Look how amazing this looks. 08:36 Gonna cut this a little bit. 08:39 Okay. 08:51 And there it is, Asian stir not fry. 08:58 This is been Evita with another fabulous recipe 09:02 and remember to live life fresh. 09:15 Five dollar Taste of Paradise remedy, 09:18 who knew that you, 09:19 in your kitchen you can have something 09:21 that is so helpful, so beneficial 09:23 and this time we're not talking about eating the food, 09:26 we're actually talking about five dollar simple remedies 09:28 that everybody can try, 09:30 and implement, and practice. 09:31 And, of course, most importantly, 09:33 if you eat right and you saw what Evita just made 09:36 that stir no fry or something like that, 09:39 I can't even remember, 09:40 so I even brought Evita back, she had to change up a little 09:42 'cause she made a mess in the kitchen 09:44 but Evita is here. 09:45 Evita, thank you for hanging in there. 09:47 Hey. Sure. 09:48 I know you did delicious recipe there before 09:50 and we just wanna continue 09:52 and show how to benefit of the natural remedies 09:55 that we have in our kitchen. 09:56 Today is the five dollars Taste of Paradise remedies. 09:59 Wow, that's awesome. 10:01 That everybody can do, 10:02 you don't have to go to the store 10:04 or the drugstore to get some of these things, 10:06 these are simple things that we all have in our home 10:09 and a lot of people unfortunately are dealing 10:11 with different ailments 10:12 and stuff but, of course, 10:14 most importantly now this is my disclaimer, 10:15 you heard it here that you have to go ahead 10:18 if there's an ailment or a sickness 10:20 or something get yourself checked out, 10:22 there's nothing wrong, we are going to the doctor. 10:24 You know what I mean, Evita. Right. 10:25 Everybody is afraid of the doctor, 10:26 "Oh, they're trying to kill us. 10:29 Oh, they just want to sell us medication." 10:31 Oh, check this out. 10:33 If you don't mind, they wouldn't, 10:35 by law they are not supposed to give us medication 10:38 if we're not sick. 10:39 So if we take care of ourselves, 10:41 they'll know, when you go to get your checkup, 10:42 they say, "Whatever you doing..." 10:43 What? Keep doing it. 10:45 Keep doing it. Keep doing it, you know. 10:46 Keep living life fresh and stuff. 10:48 And then they'll send you home 10:50 but when they check us unfortunately what happens? 10:52 Evita, some of our blood pressures are too high, 10:55 this is a problem, that's a problem 10:57 and so as a result they have to give us 10:58 the medication. 11:00 So what I encourage everybody to do, 11:01 get yourself checked up, 11:03 follow along with doctor's instructions, 11:04 but did you know there are some little things 11:06 that we can do that are healthful 11:07 in our own home. 11:09 Yeah, and you don't even have to go far, 11:11 you just go right to where the seasons are. 11:13 In your kitchen. 11:15 In your kitchen and Evita don't know how to fool you, 11:17 she knows about some of these things. 11:19 She is involved in this part of the work as well, 11:21 she's done quite a few recipes 11:23 but, Evita, tell us a little bit about 11:25 like some of your history, 11:26 you've gone through a certain training... 11:28 Yes. And you've learned how to? 11:29 At different ministries 11:31 and I had gone to some massage therapy... 11:34 Massage therapy. 11:36 Natural remedies. Natural remedies. 11:37 Yeah. 11:39 And we were talking a little bit here before 11:41 the show that Evita is, 11:43 well, she's worked in different areas 11:45 and they also make some of these remedies as well. 11:48 Is that good. 11:49 Some of these big corporate companies 11:51 are not going to all these crazy, what? 11:53 Drugs and stuff. Yeah. 11:55 I'm not saying drugs are crazy but, you know what I mean, 11:56 they are not using a whole bunch of chemicals. 11:58 What are some of the things 11:59 that you said you notice that they do? 12:01 They, in mask 12:02 they use asparagus and they use seaweed... 12:06 Okay. In facial mask. 12:08 In facial mask. Yeah. 12:09 The simple items like that 12:10 you are saying to use some raw, some raw... 12:12 Like raw papaya. Raw papaya. 12:14 Because it's enzymatic so it kind of gives you 12:17 that glow to your skin. 12:18 Okay. Yeah. 12:19 And these are big spas and stuff that have... 12:21 Yeah, these are big spas 12:22 and they bottle these potions that they make 12:27 and they sell it to the customer. 12:28 Look at that, look at that, 12:30 we don't have to buy them anymore 12:31 'cause we have it ourselves in our own home. 12:34 All we have to go to is the pantry 12:36 or even a seasoning section. 12:37 So if you follow along with me, 12:39 I share with you some of the seasons 12:40 that will probably that can be helpful 12:43 and beneficial to us. 12:45 Of course, there are different ones, 12:46 you have the onion powder, garlic powder and stuff, 12:48 that's gonna be beneficial to our palate, yeah. 12:50 Right. 12:51 That's gonna help with the food. 12:53 Then we go over here to turmeric, 12:54 we're gonna use that today. 12:56 We're going to do a little facial mask on the turmeric 12:58 as you see there. 12:59 Sea salt as well is also good, 13:00 you can also use Epsom salt to do like a hand scrub 13:04 or, you know, to help beautify the skin, 13:08 you can use that and that will go over here. 13:10 Now there are some items that are in the diet 13:12 and I'll move this over a little bit, 13:14 you all see that with me, these are cloves, 13:16 a lot of times people use cloves in their food, 13:19 or even cinnamon in their food and in our program 13:22 if you notice, Evita, 13:23 you probably even shared it as well on your side, 13:25 that these items are a little irritating 13:28 to the digestive tract, yeah? 13:30 Especially like the cloves, it does taste good, 13:33 oh, man, let me just grab a couple, look at it. 13:35 They even smell good, you know. Really good. 13:37 When we used to make porridge 13:39 and all of these items like we still make porridge, 13:41 they use to add cloves to it. 13:43 Now it does give the extra flavor, 13:44 it has really nice and helpful but at the same time 13:48 is causing a little intestinal irritation. 13:50 Irritation. 13:51 And so in a cloves 13:53 we encourage people to hold off on a cloves internally, 13:57 but you can use cloves for a nice little remedy 14:00 and I'll just show you this real quick 14:02 and then we're gonna look at our another one. 14:04 This is what we use as a clove extract 14:08 and they use cloves for toothache relief. 14:11 And all you need is just a few drops of the, what? 14:15 Of the? Clove essence. 14:16 Clove essence, all right. 14:18 And do you know you can also make clove essence 14:20 and if you just take a quick look right here, 14:22 you see I have the cloves in my hand, 14:24 you can just take this and sit this in some maybe oil 14:28 or something like that, a light oil, 14:30 you'll have to set it there 14:31 for quite some time several days or whatever 14:33 and the oil, it will start to come out 14:34 and now you have clove essence. 14:36 Essence. 14:37 You know, and so that's one of the things 14:39 that you can do and what you do is you 14:40 put that on affected area like 14:42 when the tooth is hurting you 14:45 and this works to get rid of some of that pain. 14:47 Now let's call another timeout. 14:49 My friend had a bad toothache and he was like, 14:51 "What's that natural remedy..." Or something like that. 14:54 I said, "Look here, brother, 14:55 you need to get that thing checked out." 14:57 You know, go to the dentist, go to doctor, 15:00 and see why it's bothering, 15:01 "But tell me about that remedy." 15:04 And I'm like, "Brother, all right, yeah, 15:05 you use a little bit of essence", 15:07 and so he was using it but I kept telling him, what? 15:10 Go get it... Checked out. 15:11 Go get it checked out and he didn't listen 15:13 and do you know what happened after a certain period of time? 15:15 That pain it was because he had an infection, 15:18 his teeth was not well 15:22 and so as a result it cause him, 15:24 to probably it started to spread a little bit 15:26 he had to have a root canal and all of those other stuff. 15:28 Oh, wow. 15:29 So even though these simple natural remedies 15:31 that we're using in a home please, 15:33 get yourself what? 15:34 Checked out. Get yourself checked out, okay. 15:36 So that's the clove 15:37 and then if you notice over here 15:39 we have some cinnamon, I know people use cinnamon 15:41 to lower the blood sugars. 15:43 But at the same time it cause a little bit of what? 15:45 Irritation. Irritation. 15:47 And so if we flip over here, we have instead of cinnamon, 15:50 we can use coriander and instead of nutmeg, 15:53 we can use what? 15:55 Cardamom. 15:56 Cardamom, so these are not very hard, 15:58 these are more delicate, and beneficial for you, 16:02 and they won't irritate the body as well. 16:04 But today, we're gonna do one that is one of my favorites 16:07 'cause a lot of people are dealing with pains, 16:09 muscle pains, and aches and stuff 16:11 and here's the one I have it, 16:12 you notice, this is Evita's favorite, 16:15 all right, it's right here. 16:17 And this is the paprika, 16:18 this one we have to keep it contained 16:21 because this is volatile 16:22 and I'm talking about cayenne pepper. 16:24 All right? 16:26 A lot of people who love the cayenne pepper, 16:27 you may have seen them squeak into somebody's recipes. 16:31 And they do add a little flavor 16:32 it give you that little spunk and stuff there. 16:35 However, if a person dealing with ulcers, gastritis, 16:38 hemorrhoids and these items, 16:40 in that case they would need to hold off on these items 16:43 because as well it what? 16:44 Irritates. 16:46 Irritates a little bit there, 16:47 but if you need a little spunk or something like that, 16:49 you know, a lot of people like to use that black pepper. 16:51 You would share something that they could use 16:53 instead of black pepper, the papayas? 16:54 Well, the papaya seeds and you dry it 16:56 and then you could grind it up. 16:58 You can dry it and grind it up. It'll be spicy, you are right. 17:02 It'll be a little bitter too. Yeah. 17:04 So if you still want that, look then, hey, you heard it. 17:06 Yeah. 17:07 Evita say, go ahead and do that 17:08 but we've also seen that with the cayenne, 17:11 it works very well externally. 17:14 They use it as to fight to kill fungus, antifungal, 17:18 anti-rheumatic, 17:19 a lot of people deal with bone pains, 17:23 arthritis as well 17:25 and somebody who does a lot of fresh food 17:28 sometimes they may be cutting too much. 17:31 Evita, know what I'm talking about, 17:33 so their what part, 17:34 what part of that hurts a little bit? 17:36 The wrist. 17:37 The wrist of those 17:39 who've been working quite a bit, yeah, 17:40 you know, sometimes they develop 17:42 what is know as carpal tunnel. 17:43 So there's two things 17:45 that we need to do first and foremost. 17:46 Number one, 17:47 if there is something that we're doing 17:49 that's causing us problem then we need to what? 17:50 Take a break. 17:51 We need to take a break, take it easy, 17:53 don't overwork yourself, all right? 17:55 And then number two, 17:56 there are some natural remedies however that we can do. 17:58 So today, jot it down real quick, 18:01 this is a simple, simple 18:02 under five dollar natural remedy 18:05 that you can use to fight against 18:07 these arthritic pains, 18:08 and these the rheumatism that happens sometimes 18:11 in our wrist or in our knees, 18:13 and you have to follow it properly 18:14 because this thing is dangerous, all right? 18:17 And so what we're gonna do, we're gonna do 18:18 our phenomenal cayenne pepper poultice, all right. 18:24 Write it down, cayenne pepper poultice 18:25 is a real simple thing that we can follow, 18:27 everybody can do. 18:29 All you need as you see it says: 18:34 I notice different degrees of it there 18:36 but depending on how much you need 18:38 you just cayenne pepper, all right? 18:39 You use as much as you need. 18:41 Then you have vitamin E and olive oil, 18:45 okay, we're just gonna use that to get this poultice going 18:47 and make sure you have some saran wrap. 18:50 Why do we need a saran wrap? 18:51 'Cause that's gonna help us make this poultice, 18:54 and then wrap it up, and then as a result, 18:56 we can apply it to that area. 18:58 So let's get started with that. 19:00 Now, Evita, you're gonna be my patient today. 19:03 Okay. 19:04 So we're gonna take a little of that cayenne pepper, 19:07 we're gonna pour that in there. 19:09 Then, we're gonna, you notice I'm gonna keep 19:12 that spoon right there because that spoon is dangerous now, 19:14 you know what I mean. 19:16 Then we're gonna take a little bit 19:17 of the olive oil, okay. 19:19 So we're gonna put a little bit of olive oil into that. 19:22 All we want to do is make a little paste out of it, okay. 19:26 And then I'll grab back the spoon 19:28 and we're gonna start mixing this item up here. 19:31 So if you notice it's starting to get what? 19:32 A little thick. Thick. 19:35 Little thicker there. 19:37 The cayenne pepper is strong, I smell it over here. 19:39 The cayenne pepper is very strong, 19:41 and if you notice I remember some time ago 19:44 when I used to use quite a bit of it 19:46 I'm will make my scrabble, you know, eggs or something, 19:49 I put the cayenne pepper and my whole house was like, 19:52 "Nyse, you trying to kill us." 19:54 You notice when you put that cayenne pepper on the pot 19:56 and it starts to go, 19:58 starts to aerate a little bit there, 19:59 so you want to be careful with that. 20:01 So, that's just the consistency that you would need there, 20:04 very simple and easy. 20:07 Then I'm gonna take the saran wrap, okay. 20:10 My mom didn't listen to me one time 20:12 and she heard me talking about this in a presentation. 20:15 She has arthritis really bad, all right, 20:18 and so she just heard 20:19 the part about mixing it with the oil 20:21 and applying it to the area 20:22 but she didn't stay 'cause I said you needed what? 20:25 Saran wrap. Saran wrap. 20:27 And she went home and she took this cayenne pepper 20:30 and put it on, 20:31 'cause she has really bad arthritis, 20:32 she put it on her knees and then I came home, 20:36 you know, just the business stuff 20:37 since I was in the area, and I came home 20:40 and she said, "You try to kill me." 20:43 You know why she thought I tried to kill her? 20:44 'Cause she put it directly on her skin. 20:45 She put it directly on her skin. 20:47 And you know what happened? Scrambled tofu, okay. 24:34 So, I almost, I started making bread here 24:37 but we want it to get a little wetter consistency, 24:41 we're gonna get that going. 24:43 And then we're gonna take this and just apply it to the face. 24:47 Apply it to the face. 24:48 You can also add, if you want, a couple of drops 24:51 as we've seen there, of honey. 24:53 Honey is very good. 24:54 Did you ever notice some of those masks, Evita? 24:56 They have honey in them.
