00:01 Have you ever wondered
00:02 exactly how to prepare healthy food 00:04 that actually tastes good? 00:05 Well, stay tuned while Evita Tezeno, 00:07 and yours truly Nyse Collins show you just how to do it 00:10 and give you something better, A Taste of Paradise. 00:30 Welcome to A Taste of Paradise. 00:33 My name is Evita Tezeno 00:35 and, you know, the question comes up to me, 00:37 Evita, I'm on the run 00:39 and I need something quick and easy to go, 00:42 I need to have something in my car, 00:44 so I can snack on, and what can I do? 00:49 And I know that you talk about great nutritious recipes 00:53 but I don't know what to eat. 00:56 And I know that you are against candy bars 00:59 and all of that other craziness. 01:01 So I thought about it 01:04 and I came up with a great recipe 01:06 that is yummy and delicious. 01:09 It is a spicy trail mix. Yes. 01:13 But, you know, I can't do this by myself. 01:16 I invited my bestie all the way 01:19 from Huntsville, Alabama to come on the set 01:22 and help me today. 01:25 Tiffanie. 01:26 Hi. Hi, how you're doing? 01:28 Awesome. Yes. 01:30 You know, trail mix is our good. 01:32 Yes. 01:34 'Cause you're part of Pathfinder. 01:35 Yes. Yes. 01:36 So tell me a little bit about Pathfinder for the viewers 01:38 that don't really know what Pathfinders is? 01:40 Okay. 01:42 Pathfinders is a world youth organization 01:44 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 01:45 that empowers our youth, gives them honor, skills, 01:49 and things that they can take not only 01:51 in their teens and tweens, 01:53 but even into employment for their life's work. 01:57 Wow. And y'all do camping trips. 01:59 Camping trips and then 02:00 there is volunteering and mentoring 02:02 that occurs with youth empower to serve, 02:05 which is through the Adventist Church as well. 02:07 Wow. 02:08 So when y'all do those camping trips, 02:09 y'all need some easy recipe, easy, quick. 02:11 Easy, quick, you know, out of the bag, distribution, 02:17 energizing, getting our young people 02:20 on to the next task. 02:22 Right. 02:23 So today we're gonna do this wonderful trail mix 02:25 that is great for camping. 02:27 Oh, yes. Yes. 02:29 The ingredients are: 03:03 So, Tiffanie, hand me that pineapple 03:06 that's where we're going to start off with. 03:07 Fresh pineapple. Yes. 03:09 It's so yummy. 03:10 And we're not using canned pineapple. 03:12 No. No. 03:13 Yeah. This is fresh. No compromise. 03:15 Yeah. 03:16 And hand me the almonds. Yes. I love almonds. 03:20 And the reason why we soak the nuts 03:22 is because they have enzyme inhibitors. 03:24 Okay. 03:26 And it makes easier to digest 03:27 and also we're dehydrating them. 03:28 Excellent. 03:30 So it helps when they're dehydrated, 03:31 they're dry. 03:32 Okay. 03:34 And it's good to pump up a little bit with the liquid. 03:35 Okay. 03:37 I like that. 03:38 It's neat. Yes. 03:39 And pumpkin seeds are very good. 03:41 It has zinc in it. 03:42 Now, were those soaked also? 03:43 They soaked also as well. Okay. 03:45 And that... 03:46 It boosts up the nutrients value too also 03:48 'cause it makes it alive again 03:50 and it makes it also thinks 03:52 that it's getting ready to sprout. 03:53 Okay. 03:54 So you soak it and it kind of fools the seed 03:58 that it's going to start sprouting. 03:59 Okay. 04:00 Like living enzymes? Living enzymes, yes. 04:03 So we have the sunflower seeds, cashews. 04:07 Yeah. Soaked also, right? 04:09 Soaked also as well. 04:11 And I love cashews. 04:14 And we soak the raisins also as well. 04:17 Now why is that, Evita? 04:18 Because when we dehydrate it, 04:22 they'll get harder in the dehydrator 04:23 'cause it's drying it. 04:25 Okay. 04:26 So it's easier to soak them and when they're in that, 04:29 they are pumped up already. 04:31 Yes. 04:32 And so when you dry them they are, 04:34 they go back to their normal. 04:35 Okay. That look like they're normal. 04:37 Exactly. Exactly. Now we're gonna do lemon zest. 04:40 Okay. The aroma is wonderful. 04:41 Yes. Yes. 04:43 Now when we use zest of lemon, 04:45 you wanna make sure 04:47 that you don't go all the way down 04:48 to the skin of the lemon. 04:50 Okay. 04:51 You just want to get rather pits. 04:53 Okay. 04:54 Yeah, just the white part of the lemon. 04:56 Okay. 04:57 And this adds much great flavor to the trail mix. 05:00 Oh, yes. This is so yummy. 05:03 Like a spike. Yes, yes, yes. 05:06 And, you know, 05:07 we as fast young people... 05:11 Okay. 05:13 We want to have these quick meals. 05:15 Correct. 05:16 And we wanna have, also, we want to have things 05:18 that we can snack on to go. 05:20 Correct. 05:21 And there are so many unhealthy things out there. 05:22 You're right. 05:24 But, hey, nature has its best fast-food. 05:26 Yes. It does. A peeled banana. 05:28 Yes. A orange sliced. 05:30 Yes. 05:32 So now... And now a spicy trail mix. 05:34 Yes. 05:36 So we're using maple syrup today. 05:38 Now, maple syrup is not raw 05:40 but it is not as bad as putting sugar. 05:44 Sure. Yes. 05:46 So we're using this as our sweetener today. 05:48 Okay. 05:52 And I'm gonna stir this up a little bit. 05:59 Stir and then add your other seasonings. 06:01 Yes. 06:02 So I'm making sure that the maple syrup 06:04 is coating everything, 06:06 and then we're gonna add our wonderful Fuji apples. 06:09 Fuji. 06:13 I see the base of your bowl is a little liquidy, 06:15 is that traditional for dehydration 06:17 in trail mix process? 06:18 Yes. It helps. 06:20 It helps have the liquid in there 06:21 so it could coat all of the ingredients. 06:24 Okay. Great. Yeah. 06:26 So we're gonna cut up this last Fuji apple 06:28 and I love to use Fuji apples 06:29 because they're kind of real sweet. 06:35 Okay. Yeah. 06:36 And I love the way they taste in the trail mix. 06:39 And do they maintain 06:40 their firmness after dehydration? 06:42 No. 06:43 They kind of, you know, dry up like... 06:44 You know, have you seen apple greens? 06:47 Yes. Yeah. 06:48 They're kind of chewy. 06:50 Okay. Yeah. It's a little chewy. 06:51 So that supports the whole trail mix thing. 06:53 Yes. Yes. Great. 06:54 Yes. 06:57 So, can you put the salt in there? 07:00 Sure. 07:01 And I'm gonna add the cayenne pepper. 07:04 One teaspoon. 07:06 Mm-hm, one teaspoon and a half. 07:09 And we have that. Mm-hmm. 07:12 Okay. 07:14 Just around the edge. Yes. 07:16 Is that great? Yes. 07:18 Thank you so much, Tiffanie. You're welcome. 07:20 So we're gonna coat this and stir this up. 07:22 Okay. 07:23 And today I'm using the dehydrator. 07:25 Okay. 07:27 I don't know if you can use an oven 07:29 if you don't have a dehydrator 07:32 because the oven will heat it up 07:35 and it won't get dry. 07:37 Okay. 07:38 The dehydrator has a drying quality in it. 07:42 Need a sheet? 07:43 Yes. Okay. 07:50 So we're gonna place this wonderful trail mix. 07:55 Oh, the liquid in all. Oh, the liquid in all. 07:57 Okay. Mm-hmm. 08:01 On the dehydrators 08:02 and we're gonna dehydrate this overnight. 08:04 Overnight. Mm-hmm. 08:08 And it blends all the flavors 08:11 and it gets real nice and crunchy. 08:12 Looks wonderful. 08:14 Smells great also. 08:16 So we're gonna stick it in here. 08:19 Those tray is packed. 08:22 And because of the miracle of television... 08:24 Television. 08:27 We have a finished product. 08:30 Wonderful. 08:31 Now, Tiffanie, 08:32 do you wanna taste some of this? 08:34 You know, I do. Oh, my, God, just see. 08:37 Oh, the texture. 08:39 It's moist. Yes, mm-hmm. 08:43 Hmm, wonderful. Isn't that delicious? 08:47 Fabulous. 08:49 And you taste a little spiciness? 08:50 Yes, the spice just pops. 08:54 So, Tiffanie, if you don't want it as spicy, 08:57 you don't have to put as much cayenne pepper in it. 08:59 Okay. 09:00 But, you know, I like things a little spicy. 09:01 Yes. But it was delicious. 09:03 Oh, delicious, and natural, and nutritious. 09:04 Yeah. Exactly. 09:06 And it gives you that energy. Energy. 09:09 For camping trips. 09:10 Especially, you're doing all that jogging, 09:12 and hiking, and all that stuff. 09:13 Voluntary events. 09:15 Yes, yes, yes. 09:16 So you've seen my program before, right? 09:19 Yes. So, you know, how I close it. 09:20 Yes. Yes. 09:22 This is been another great recipe 09:23 with my bestie Tiffanie 09:26 and remember to live life fresh. 09:34 Here we are, back at A Taste of Paradise. 09:37 Evita just made some phenomenal, 09:38 tasty and quick snacks. 09:40 Now you know she is doing an excellent job, 09:43 but we got to keep it up too because this is the seed show. 09:46 She had the nuts, and the different trail mixes, 09:49 and different items of that nature, 09:50 but we're gonna do something fantastic. 09:53 We're gonna step it up to the seed, 09:55 supersede our presentation. 09:57 And this is one of my favorites 09:58 because one day you hear something as good 10:01 and the next day something else came out 10:03 and it's like, "Man, you can't keep up." 10:04 Is the sunflower seed good? 10:06 Is this seed good? Or that seed? 10:07 And everybody says 10:09 this seed is better than that seed. 10:10 What, here is how I look at it, 10:12 it's not like new seeds is being grown 10:14 or something of that nature, 10:15 all of these things God made 10:17 and so in general most of them are good. 10:19 We just need to understand, 10:20 which ones are good for what 10:21 and all of its different beneficial properties. 10:24 I heard a news report show, 10:26 if you get the seed from this foreign Asian country, 10:29 then you will be healthy again. 10:31 I'm like, well, what about us in North America 10:33 or something like that? 10:34 Or what about the people let's say in South America? 10:37 So, I mean, there's different seeds 10:39 in different places, 10:40 all of them in general is helpful 10:42 for different areas. 10:44 So if you don't have access to certain seeds that come out, 10:47 don't worry about it, use what you have access to, 10:49 God will bless you with whatever you do, 10:52 but we do have to look at these seeds 10:55 and what their beneficial properties are. 10:56 So I brought in our super guest, 10:58 this is our workout fitness consultant 11:01 and y'all see this man is ready to... 11:03 Amen. Amen. 11:05 No fighting in a place, no fighting, 11:06 but if you need a little extra strength, 11:07 little power, and energy, he's here to do it for you. 11:10 And this is my colleague, his name is Brian Haynes. 11:13 Brian Haynes, welcome to the show. 11:15 Thank you. 11:16 Thank you. Ouch! 11:17 Don't hurt me, brother. 11:19 As you can see Brian, he been working out, 11:20 I've been trying to hang out with him a little bit, 11:22 but I don't wanna get, you know, to... 11:23 Amen. Amen. 11:25 We'll keep it healthy. Brian, how's it going? 11:26 It's going great. It's going great. 11:28 Going great myself. 11:29 Man, glad to finally have you here. 11:31 Every time I need to hear about something new, 11:32 this man knows it. 11:34 All right. 11:35 And I'm sure, you don't get into too much stuff 11:38 but you do know your stuff at least. 11:40 I try to do a little bit of research. 11:41 All right. All right. 11:42 Now you're working out 11:44 and do you use all these protein things 11:46 that people tell you to use? 11:47 Actually I don't. 11:49 I just stick to, like you say the seeds, 11:50 the nuts and seeds. 11:51 They're high in protein so, you know... 11:53 Actually there's a song, 11:54 foods, and grains, and vegetables, 11:58 nuts, and seeds is all I need... 12:02 Chef Chew. Taste so good. 12:03 So good. 12:05 So good to me, 12:07 let's eat to live and not live to eat. 12:10 Watch it now, Chef, I'm sorry, we know this is your song, 12:13 but Brian kind of remixed it there. 12:15 So the fruits, the grains, and nuts, 12:16 and veggies is all you need. 12:18 Now what are some of the bad or I'll not say bad, 12:20 but some of the drawbacks of using 12:22 all these protein shakes and stuff like that, 12:25 a lot of them we know have whey in them? 12:27 Right. Right. The dairy, the dairy. 12:29 And it's also really bad on your kidneys. 12:31 You see, a lot of, too much protein, 12:33 your kidneys has to filter. 12:34 And so when you have too much protein 12:35 going into your diet, 12:37 it actually put a huge strain on your kidneys 12:39 which can be lead to other bad side effects 12:42 on a long-term regular use. 12:43 Wow. Look at that, y'all. 12:44 So just eat your seeds, eat your grains, and nuts, 12:47 and you should be fine. 12:49 So today we're gonna do something special, 12:51 you know, Evita, she did her little snacks 12:52 and stuff like that. 12:54 So I had to bring in some backup here, 12:56 I had to bring some backup to help me with this. 12:59 Now, there's so many different types of seeds 13:01 as we know, there's what sunflower seeds, 13:03 it is something everybody knows. 13:05 Right. 13:06 Which is very high in what? 13:07 Vitamin E. Vitamin E. 13:09 E is good for the what? 13:10 The external, good for the skin. 13:13 What are some of the seeds out there? 13:15 So my favorites are flaxseed. 13:18 Flaxseed. 13:19 Everybody knows flaxseed, 13:21 and a matter of fact it's good for the digestive track 13:24 for inflammation and stuff. 13:25 If you use too much though, you may go too much. 13:27 So find that balance 13:28 with the flaxseed is the golden, 13:30 is different ones. 13:31 What are some other seeds? 13:33 Another really, really good one, 13:34 and a lot of people are finding more out 13:35 about is the chia seeds. 13:37 The chia seed? All right. 13:38 See, I know we're gonna get 13:39 into these little weird areas here 13:41 'cause I'm used to sesame seed with the calcium 13:44 and it's also good for the male and females, 13:46 but chia seed, 13:48 everybody is going crazy over the chia seed. 13:49 What's the beneficiary property of chia seed? 13:51 Chia seeds are actually 500% 13:53 higher in calcium than cow's milk. 13:55 Woowe! 13:57 So look at that. 13:58 If you haven't heard it first, you heard it here. 14:00 Chia seeds is loaded, loaded with calcium. 14:03 Let's say it was only 400 or 300, it's still loaded. 14:07 Right? It's highly loaded. 14:08 What else... 14:09 And here is the chia seed right here for us. 14:11 If you guys could take a look, 14:12 as we're gonna make little recipe for y'all. 14:14 We have the chia seed right here. 14:17 What else is chia seed good for? 14:18 Chia seeds are also very high in protein. 14:22 They have a reputation for being the Aztec superfood. 14:25 They're also very high in omega-3s. 14:27 Omega-3 fatty acids are which are really good 14:29 for the brain development. 14:30 You know, we're finding that that is key element 14:32 that's needed for children in the developing brain. 14:34 So a pregnant mother, 14:36 I would do it before if I was a women, 14:38 before, during and after pregnancy 14:39 because it's gonna help 14:41 in the development of the brain of your child. 14:43 Okay. Excellent. So we have the chia seed. 14:45 Yeah, I caught a glimpse of some of the other seeds 14:46 but I wanna make sure 14:48 y'all see the chia seed right here. 14:49 This is a very good one that you can enjoy 14:53 and good for as Brian said, if he was. 14:56 We know he is man here, amen, all right. 14:59 But if, so it's good for the ladies as well. 15:02 What are some other seeds over here, 15:03 we have the pumpkin seed. 15:05 Right. Right. 15:06 Actually there's one more thing about the chia seeds 15:08 that you should know. 15:09 A lot of people love blueberries, 15:10 and I love blueberries too, 15:12 but chia seeds are actually super high 15:13 in antioxidants. 15:14 I actually have a friend 15:16 who owns a blueberry farm in Washington 15:17 and they say that she had a patient 15:20 that was doing cancer therapy. 15:22 And the doctor told her not to eat blueberries 15:24 because the antioxidants in blueberries 15:26 are so high they would actually stop 15:28 the effects of the radiation 15:30 that they were trying to help deal with the cancer. 15:33 But chia seeds are actually higher 15:35 in antioxidants than blueberries. 15:37 So if you have people that are dealing with cancer 15:38 or other issues like that, 15:39 that will be very good to eat some chia seeds. 15:41 All right. 15:42 Right there is the chia, you have the chia. 15:46 All right. 15:47 And then you have next to that 15:49 we have some pumpkin seeds. 15:50 We all know pumpkin seeds are fantastic, 15:52 good for a male reproductive organ, 15:54 also for people dealing with high blood pressure 15:56 or whatever like that. 15:58 It's also good, 15:59 it has a item called L-arginine. 16:00 All right. 16:02 So when that converts in a digestive tract, 16:03 it goes ahead and helps to relax, 16:06 relax them the arteries, or the veins, 16:09 or different items of that nature. 16:11 So, pumpkin seeds is good, 16:12 and also if you end up with a or something like that, 16:15 pumpkin seeds little parasite actually paralyzes parasites. 16:18 So look at that, go ahead, and enjoy your pumpkin seeds, 16:20 just a handful a day if you want. 16:23 What are some other ones, 16:24 we already talked about the sunflower seeds, 16:26 we have the flaxseeds right here. 16:29 But, man, we got something going on over here. 16:32 If y'all take a quick look at this, 16:33 we have some hemp seed, hemp seed. 16:37 Now when I hear hemp, 16:38 can everybody see that right here? 16:40 We're talking about hemp seed right here. 16:42 I know people talk about the actual what, 16:45 the plant and they call it for healing of the nation. 16:48 Watch it, I don't know what nation you follow 16:50 but this is actually the seed, yeah. 16:53 Correct. 16:54 Now, there's some controversial stuff going on. 16:56 What's the hemp seed good for? 16:57 The hemp seed, actually, they found, 16:58 studies are showing 17:00 that it's very good for your heart. 17:01 It's got that very good properties 17:03 that help lower cholesterol. 17:05 It actually can be an appetite to person as well. 17:06 So it's very good, 17:07 if people trying to lose weight, 17:09 and things of that nature. 17:10 And again, it's high in omega-3s and omega-6s 17:12 so it's good for your brain, for memory, 17:14 and things of that nature. 17:15 Wow, this is gonna get power pack, 17:18 y'all, you better watch out. 17:19 Evita should be here. All right. 17:21 But she is already made us a lot of her recipes 17:24 with the hemp seeds as well so you can go ahead 17:27 and enjoy those. 17:29 Now, the seed. Amen. Now, the seed. 17:31 Okay. 17:32 And then we have some almond and stuff. 17:33 Now what we're gonna do here today, 17:35 which is special, 17:36 we're going to take all of those, 17:38 yeah, and what we're gonna make? 17:39 We are gonna put these things together 17:40 and we're gonna make 17:42 an omega overload brain boosting power bar. 17:45 What? Say that again, three time now. 17:48 What, Omega? 17:50 Omega overload brain boosting power bar. 17:54 You heard it first right here 17:56 at Taste of Paradise second part. 17:58 No, no, let me stop. 17:59 But the omega overload... 18:02 Brain boosting. Brain boosting. 18:04 I thought I came up with some names, 18:05 this man, he topped that. 18:07 Brain boosting what? 18:08 Power bar. Power bar. 18:10 Now I don't know if you're ready for this. 18:12 Go ahead, please, get your pens ready 18:15 because you may not even have to use 18:16 a pen after you use this power bar, 18:18 you will memorize every and anything that you see. 18:20 The omega overload... 18:23 Brain boosting... Brain boosting... 18:25 Power bar. Power bar. 18:27 You can't find this at the gas stations 18:28 neither at the health food stores, 18:30 you could find it here, so get your pens ready. 18:32 Here it is. This is the recipe for you. 18:36 I'm gonna grab and see if I can grab a pen as well, 18:39 go ahead, and write it down. 18:40 Here it is the omega super power 18:42 something bar, all right. 18:44 And the recipe is... 18:45 What is it, Brian? Okay. 18:47 It has: 19:18 Woowie! 19:20 Now, I know what he meant 19:21 when he said overload, overload. 19:23 Look at that, it's so overload, he can't even remember. 19:26 Now give me back my recipe here, 19:27 I'm gonna keep this one for later, all right? 19:29 So watch this. 19:30 So we have all of those items, 19:32 I'm gonna switch spots with you. 19:33 Okay. 19:34 And then you're gonna run this one here today. 19:37 Let us know where do we start with this? 19:38 Okay. Let's start. You can do one of two things. 19:40 I liked to mix all the wet ingredients 19:42 and, of course, the dry ingredients separately. 19:43 Okay. 19:44 So let's just go ahead and do this. 19:46 We'll take our vanilla extract here. 19:48 So we have the coconut oil here, 19:50 you can find those in many stores. 19:52 So we have the vanilla extract. 19:53 We got the vanilla extract, great flavor, I love vanilla. 19:56 Okay. 19:57 Then we'll take our coconut oil here. 19:58 It's already been melted down 20:00 because if you look at coconut oil, 20:01 you know, it's kind of solid like a... 20:03 What's that stuff called shortening 20:05 and stuff like that. 20:07 Okay. Yeah. 20:08 My grandmother used to use a lot of Crisco 20:09 and stuff like that so... 20:11 All right, watch it now. 20:12 Coconut oil has that kind of consistency. 20:13 Well, you know what they say that do to the heart, 20:15 yeah, all right. 20:16 But this is the coconut oil. Correct. 20:17 This is better option here. 20:19 Now you're a cook 20:20 and so I'll do the cleaning here. 20:22 Okay. All right. 20:23 And so we'll mix those. 20:24 We're gonna take our honey, half a cup of honey here. 20:26 All right, half a cup. 20:27 And this is the raw honey, 20:28 as well, but just use whatever you have access to. 20:32 This is very, very, very good, a lot of people always say, 20:34 "Oh, I'm weak, and I'm tired, I don't have enough energy," 20:37 and stuff like that. 20:38 So you can make one of these bars here. 20:40 Right. 20:41 Or actually this is a lot 20:43 so we're gonna make several bars now. 20:44 Yes, yes. 20:46 And they're gonna be very dense because of all the fiber, 20:47 so you won't need a lot of them. 20:49 Uh-oh. Y'all heard it. 20:50 And let me just grab some of that to clean up here. 20:53 So you're gonna have, 20:54 this is gonna be fiber boosting here. 20:57 I call them fiber bombs. Oh, mercy. 21:01 One person says, if you eat too much fiber, 21:02 you drop different bombs. 21:03 Yeah. 21:05 So this would be good for you, this would be good for you. 21:07 All right. What else? Okay. 21:08 So we're just gonna mix that together. 21:10 So we're gonna mix those liquid ingredients together. 21:14 Now why, is there any reason in particular 21:15 why we're just mixing? 21:17 Well, you just wanted to get thoroughly combined. 21:19 Okay. 21:21 So you wanted to dissipate there properly and... 21:23 Yeah. 21:24 And mix well 'cause a lot of times, 21:26 if you notice, if you take those small wet ingredients 21:29 or whatever and you put them in a dry item, 21:31 if it doesn't mix well, 21:33 you just get all of that in one spot. 21:35 Well, now all of that will be mixed well together. 21:38 You know, I forget our apple sauce there. 21:40 Okay. You can't beat the apple sauce. 21:42 How much apple sauce? I don't exactly remember. 21:45 Whatever the instruction says. Yeah. 21:47 We're just following the ingredients. 21:48 We're in a kitchen, y'all, all right. 21:50 Now we said, 21:51 we gave you the instructions here 21:52 but work with what you have, all right? 21:55 If you like apple sauce, can I put it little extra? 21:57 Sure, sure. If you like apple sauce, do that. 21:58 All right. 22:00 See my memory failed 22:01 because I haven't eaten them yet. 22:02 So I need to hurry up here. 22:04 Oh, 'cause I was about to say, this overload thing, 22:05 it should be, he should memorize everything. 22:07 But what happened is, he didn't have any yet. 22:09 That's right. 22:10 So that's why he is so anxious to put them together. 22:11 Next? 22:13 So now we're going to take our toasted oats. 22:14 You wanna toast your oats. Yes. 22:15 Because, you know, we're trying to hold off 22:17 on a raw per se oats. 22:19 You just wanna add a little heat to that 22:20 to help break it down properly. 22:21 Okay. 22:23 Then we throw in some almond meal here, 22:24 some ground up almonds. 22:25 We have almonds 22:27 we just grind them up a little bit. 22:28 So you just coffee grinder and grind it up. 22:29 Yeah. 22:31 Then we'll take our hemp hearts, 22:32 we'll dump those in there. 22:34 All right. 22:35 I thought they were seeds, now you call them hearts. 22:36 You love them that much, huh? 22:38 All right. 22:39 So you have the hemp hearts, what else? 22:40 Then we have our chia seeds. 22:42 Chia, is this the one that they like grow and stuff? 22:45 Actually they are. They are. 22:47 I think y'all remember that. You remember that commercial? 22:49 Yeah. Yeah. 22:51 Chia, there're little cows and the dogs stuff like that. 22:53 You just keep adding water, 22:55 just starts like growing your stuff like that. 22:56 So, hey, now you can start growing on the inside. 22:59 No, not quite, not quite. But it's good for you. 23:02 All right. So we added those, what else? 23:03 Okay. 23:05 And then we take our flaxseeds, which need to be ground up. 23:08 Yeah. Yeah. 23:09 So we're gonna grind those up. 23:11 So real quick, just check this out, 23:13 we want to show you one little item here 23:16 on what to do with the flaxseed. 23:17 Okay. 23:19 We're gonna show you a little recipe on, 23:20 you can grind them up 23:21 but also you can use it as an egg replacer as well. 23:23 Exactly. 23:24 And so here is the recipe for you 23:26 and all you do is you take about a cup of flaxseed 23:31 and you take a little bit of water, 23:33 and you blend those items up about a quarter cup of water 23:37 or half a cup of water, 23:38 you blend those items together 23:40 and then you can have an egg replacer 23:42 or you can just go ahead and grind them. 23:45 Now, it's that simple, 23:47 that's like if you want the egg replacer, 23:48 but as you know a lot of people always 23:51 are using flaxseed oil and different items. 23:55 We actually recommend... 23:56 Man, why are you hanging all the way over? 23:58 Come over here. 23:59 We actually recommend that 24:02 many people actually make it themselves though? 24:03 Right, right. 24:05 Freshly grounded flaxseed, this is actually the good one. 24:09 Those that have been grounded already, 24:12 they may not be as fresh as we would like. 24:13 Yeah. 24:15 They get rancid quite easily and stuff so freshly grounded, 24:18 so we're gonna show you that real quick in two seconds. 24:20 We're gonna ground up some flaxseed. 24:23 And I encourage you to do it, you could do it with what? 24:25 A cup or something like that? 24:26 You can use a coffee grinder. 24:28 You can just use any little blending kind of thing. 24:30 Okay. So we'll take some of that. 24:32 We pour that in there. I hope that's enough. 24:35 And then you can make your own bash 24:37 and then when you're done, 24:38 I'll show you what to do. 24:47 Man, we almost ended up with flaxseed flour. 24:50 So you take that and let me grab that. 24:56 And then you pour that out. 24:58 It should be. 25:00 Some of it is hiding in there. 25:02 Well, for this recipe, how much we need actually? 25:04 We need one-fourth of a cup. 25:05 One-fourth of a cup so I'll get the rest later. 25:07 And then you have your measurement there 25:09 and we'll add that to this, one-fourth of a cup. 25:11 All right. 25:13 And while he does that, 25:14 you can actually take the additional flaxseed 25:17 and take all of that 25:18 and put that in a glass container 25:20 store it in the fridge, whenever you need it 25:21 and want it, you can go ahead and add that. 25:22 And then the next step... 25:24 Let me just move this on your way. 25:25 Okay. 25:26 Actually, we'll use this one again 25:28 'cause we wanna add some almond butter now 25:29 'cause I like to wait as the almond butter melt 25:30 into the wet ingredients there. 25:32 Okay. So you have the almond butter. 25:34 And let me grab you a spoon. 25:36 All right. Here we go. 25:39 Okay. Thank you. 25:40 So we're gonna take some almond butter, how much? 25:42 We're gonna take three-fourth of a cup. 25:44 Three-fourth. All right. 25:46 So that is a good amount of almond butter as we know 25:48 it's very good for lowering the cholesterol. 25:51 So it's a better, not a better but this is another alternative 25:55 instead of just always using what, peanut butter. 25:58 Right. Right. 25:59 So there you go, we're gonna mix that in. 26:02 Now, my memory is getting a little weak here. 26:05 I'm gonna wanna try some of this. 26:07 Oh, yeah. So we will get going. 26:09 I move this out of the away. 26:11 So we mix that in 26:12 and it creates kind of a little syrupy, 26:14 kind of like paste thing going. 26:16 Okay. Okay. 26:18 And then we're going to take that we'll pour that in here? 26:20 Yes. 26:23 So we'll pour that in. 26:25 And then we just all, mix it all together. 26:26 This is how they make those bars, man. 26:29 This is how they make those bars. 26:31 So we'll mix that all to add up 26:33 and then as a result... 26:36 Okay. 26:37 So you just let it mix and you'll notice it will start 26:40 to coagulate the... 26:41 Yes. 26:42 The seeds usually give off 26:44 this kind of like jelly-type substance, 26:45 which is why it makes it really good 26:47 for egg replacement. 26:48 So it will start to gel up 26:50 and it will start to hold together 26:51 and bind all the ingredients together. 26:54 And then what we'll do is we'll spread them out 26:55 in this pan here. 26:56 So you just pour that in that pan. 26:58 Yeah. You wanna make sure it's good. 27:00 It gets mixed in good and well. 27:03 Let me see how you pour it in there, brother, 27:04 'cause I'm a... 27:05 And do we have to bake this or anything? 27:07 Actually this one you don't have to bake at all. 27:09 Like I said, if you just toasted it ahead of time 27:10 they will come out perfect. 27:11 So we'll pour that in there 27:13 and you already made some of this. 27:14 I did. 27:15 So I'll let you pour that out there and if you don't mind, 27:18 where do you put it after, you put it in the... 27:19 You could put in the fridge or the freezer. 27:21 In a fridge? 27:22 But this one is gonna be in the freezer. 27:24 Or the freezer. 27:25 So, yeah, I'm gonna just go ahead 27:26 and grab this out the freezer real quick 27:28 what he made here and let's see what we got. 27:31 Oh, man, you didn't just put in a fridge 27:32 you got this thing ready to roll. 27:35 What, this is how it comes out? 27:37 Well, you just cut it up, 27:39 you know, and I would recommend 27:40 actually cutting it before you put it in there 27:41 because if you try to cut it after 27:43 that's gonna be pretty hard. 27:44 Wait a second. 27:48 This is literally a dynamite part. 27:50 This is a power boosting omega overload bar, 27:54 enjoy it. |
