00:02 exactly how to prepare healthy food 00:04 that actually taste good? 00:05 Well, stay tuned while Evita Tezeno 00:07 and your's truly Nyse Collins 00:09 show you just how to do it and give you something better, 00:12 A Taste of Paradise. 00:30 Hi. 00:31 Welcome to A Taste of Paradise. 00:33 My name is Evita Tezeno. 00:35 And you know God has given us so many lushes greens. 00:39 There are romaine lettuce, 00:41 there's spinach and I'm today, I'm using arugula. 00:46 Arugula is in the cruciferous family, 00:48 you know with broccoli and cauliflower, and cabbage. 00:52 It has a spicy kind of peppery taste, 00:55 and we're making an amazing salad. 00:58 It's gonna be an avocado, 01:01 asparagus salad with a walnut and basil topping. 01:06 It's gonna be yummy 01:08 and I can't wait to share it with you. 01:10 So for the dressing, the recipe is: 01:40 So here we go. 01:42 With just simple recipe for the dressing 01:45 all we gonna do is just put everything into the blender. 01:49 The lemon juice, 01:52 and this is the olive oil, 01:58 garlic, clove, 02:01 maple syrup, 02:06 just throw onion, 02:09 the spring onion, 02:12 sea salt, 02:16 and this is the tahini. 02:19 I need to get a spoon. 02:28 And if anybody doesn't know, tahini is sesame seed butter. 02:34 It's made out of small, the small little sesame seeds 02:37 and grinded up into a butter. 02:41 And I said, minced bay leaves, 02:44 basil leaves but I'm going to use 02:46 the whole basil leaves right in there, 02:48 because the blend is going to do all the work for us. 03:06 So that was easy for the dressing. 03:09 So let me get some of these items out the way. 03:16 So now we're going to make this amazing basil topping. 03:22 And what we do is we have our walnuts. 03:29 And let me get the chopping board. 03:38 Here is our basil 03:40 and we're gonna chop that pretty fine. 03:46 And that's another green 03:48 that we don't utilize a lot of is basil. 03:52 Believe it or not, you could put a... 03:54 put basil in a smoothie and it's delicious. 03:57 It'll be like a savory smoothie but it's delicious. 04:00 I do this emerald green smoothie 04:02 and I put basil in it and it is yummy. 04:08 So we want to coat out walnuts 04:10 and these walnuts have been soaked overnight 04:14 and then just dried a little bit, 04:17 so I have drained the water off of them. 04:19 So we want to put the olive oil, 04:24 and this is our maple syrup, 04:30 our onion powder, 04:36 yeast flakes, 04:41 a cayenne 04:43 and our smoked paprika. 04:46 Now smoked paprika is not raw 04:48 but it adds so much flavor to dishes 04:53 and I love using it. 04:56 It gives it that kind of hickory smoke taste. 05:01 And then we add our basil. 05:09 And we put this in the dehydrator 05:13 for overnight. 05:17 And because of the miracle of TV we have this. 05:24 Now we go on to our salad fixings. 05:39 So we have arugula... 05:47 and then we have our butter lettuce... 06:03 And depending on how large your bowl is 06:06 you want to consider the recipe. 06:11 You don't have to use all the ingredients. 06:15 We'll just slice some cherry tomatoes. 06:41 And we have our asparagus just coarsely chop this. 06:57 Here's our avocado. 07:09 And you can put in, 07:11 you know cut him in smaller chunks if you want. 07:14 I love big chunks of avocado in my salad. 07:16 It is so, so yummy. 07:21 Now we have this amazing basil topping with the walnuts. 07:28 I wish you guys could taste this. 07:30 This is so good. 07:39 Our dressing... 07:56 Look at that. 07:58 Now how simple is that. 08:00 That was a quick and easy recipe 08:03 using new ingredients 08:04 because a lot of people don't use arugula. 08:07 It is a very underserved green vegetable 08:11 and we should really get that more in our diet. 08:14 Again, this has been a great recipe 08:17 coming from the set of Taste of Paradise, 08:20 and I want you to remember to live life fresh. 08:30 Welcome back to the Taste of Paradise. 08:33 You know the second segment 08:34 where we always heating or cooking something up. 08:37 Well, today is a pretty unique show. 08:42 And why do I say that is 08:44 because I have some of my own family here 08:47 and some special guests 08:48 but not just any type of family, 08:50 I can bring probably my big brother 08:52 or big sister or something, 08:54 somebody like that, but no, 08:56 I'm going to bring some of my nephews and nieces, why? 08:59 Because what we realize over the years is 09:00 we spend so much time teaching adults and, 09:04 and those who are of age how to live, how to eat, 09:07 how to cook, how to do this, 09:08 how to do that, 09:10 and then finally when all our energy is exhausted, 09:12 we turn around and we see a whole another generation 09:15 who just grew up 09:16 and they are doing the same thing 09:18 that their parents have done. 09:20 And a lot of times when we look at different ailments 09:22 and disease, a lot of times they say, 09:23 oh, it runs in a family. 09:25 It doesn't per se run in a family. 09:26 It's the lifestyle that runs in a family, 09:29 the habits that run in the family, 09:31 and it's passed on generation to generation. 09:33 So I said, why don't we just start teaching the kids. 09:37 And a lot of times we get a lot of requests 09:39 from the children of different recipes 09:41 and items like that so, 09:42 I said let's bring the kids on the show. 09:44 So my special guest today, 09:47 as we see here featured on this season is for the kids. 09:51 Hey, how you're doing? 09:52 Good. Eight. 10:17 Belle is eight. 10:18 She is eight years old 10:20 and actually it shows in the writings 10:22 that the children by the age of eight and nine 10:24 should be able to handle the affairs of the kitchen. 10:27 What does that mean? 10:28 That you should be able to learn 10:29 and know how to what? 10:31 Cook. 10:32 How to cook and don't worry, 10:33 you have a little time there but if you start learning now, 10:36 then you can also learn like your big sister, you all right? 10:40 Yeah. Good. 10:41 So today we're going to make some of our favorite recipes 10:44 that all the kids enjoy, 10:46 all the kids will enjoy some what? 10:49 Cooking. 10:50 Some cooking but some pop, pop what? 10:55 All right, popcorn, 10:57 you want to make some popcorn today? 10:58 Yes. Yes. 11:00 And popcorn tastes very, very good. 11:02 We all love it. 11:03 But the popcorn from the store, 11:04 what does it have a lot of in it? 11:06 A lot of what? Lot of butter... 11:09 Yeah, and lot of things that kill your body. 11:12 Oh, she said that they kill our body. 11:15 She's talking about fry those cheesy hot spicy popcorn 11:18 and stuff like that and we want your body. 11:21 Do you want to die or you want to live? 11:22 Yep. 11:24 You want to live, right? Yes. 11:25 Yes, you want to live too? 11:27 Yes. Good. 11:28 So we're gonna make some good healthy popcorn 11:30 and we're gonna make it fresh ourselves, 11:32 and we're gonna show 11:33 how to make different types of spices, 11:35 not spices but what? 11:36 Seasoning and flavors and stuff like that, yeah. 11:41 You just like only one seasoning? 11:43 No. 11:44 No, you like different types of flavors, yeah? 11:46 Yeah. Good. 11:47 So we're going to do that today. 11:49 And then we're going to pop some popcorn 11:50 and we gonna have a good time 11:52 because a lot of times, when do we eat popcorn? 11:54 What time in a day? At night. 11:57 All right, night time or some people say any time, 12:01 but actually you know how we've been telling people 12:04 and share people that it's good to eat a good what? 12:06 Breakfast and a good what? 12:08 Lunch. 12:09 Lunch and sometimes try your best 12:11 to take it easy and don't eat a big what? 12:14 Dinner, right, 12:16 because it's better to eat a big breakfast and lunch. 12:19 So if you do have to have something for dinner, 12:21 it should be very what? 12:23 Light. Light. 12:24 Like what are we going to make here? 12:25 Popcorn. 12:27 Popcorn, you guys got it, 12:28 man, I'm just going to let them take over the show 12:30 and they'll have a good, have a good time. 12:32 So we're going to make some popcorn. 12:34 We have different seasonings and different flavors 12:36 that we can make and you see we have three of them here. 12:38 So get ready to write down 12:40 a simple, simple recipes 12:43 on how you can add different flavors 12:45 and stuff to your popcorn 12:46 where you never have to buy popcorn again 12:48 with all of butter 12:49 and she as Belle said it, it will kill you, you know. 12:53 So here it is. 12:54 Here's a simple recipe on different seasonings 12:57 for how you can make it air pop popcorn 12:59 and the recipes are: 13:01 For the three different seasonings the first one is 13:05 Italian popcorn. 13:07 What is it y'all? 13:08 The what? Italian popcorn. 13:10 Very good and all you need for Italian popcorn is: 13:22 And that's if you're going to make 13:24 your own Italian seasoning 13:25 and also for the second seasoning 13:28 for the kid-a-licious seasoning, 13:30 what kind of seasoning, y'all? 13:32 Kid-a-licious. 13:33 Kid-a-licious, very good. 13:35 You just need: 13:39 And for the third season, and what did I say, 13:41 what seasoning? 13:43 The third seasoning 13:45 we're gonna make a deli dill seasoning 13:50 and all you need for the deli dill seasoning is: 14:10 All right, what was that? 14:11 The deli dell weed, ya'll ready? 14:14 Deli dell weed. 14:15 Deli dell weed. 14:16 What was it? 14:18 Yeah, something like that, you got it right. 14:20 All right, and so what we're going to do, 14:21 I'm going to make that on the deli dell 14:24 and then ya'll have the other one, 14:25 you have the what? 14:26 You have the Italian, 14:28 and this is the kid-a-licious seasoning, 14:30 so what we're gonna do Belle, 14:32 you just grab your ingredients and put them in a big bowl. 14:35 Ezekiel, you're gonna grab one, put it in the bowl. 14:39 All right, just without the spoon. 14:41 Yeah, yeah, first you put the ingredients in the bowl. 14:43 Okay, either or you could do it your way. 14:46 And then you take that, put it in the big bowl 14:50 and everybody grab your spoons. 14:52 Wait a second, wait for me. 14:54 Wait for me, well, 14:55 you're trying to cook without me. 14:56 I got to make my what? 14:58 Deli dell seasoning, all right. 15:01 All right, so hold on, 15:02 I see you trying to head start we're gonna have, 15:05 at least I got the big one here. 15:07 And then I have the onion powder, 15:09 garlic powder and dill 15:11 and then nutritional yeast flakes as you see here 15:14 which gives you that nice little cheesy flavor. 15:16 Let me move this out of the way. 15:19 And I already have some over here 15:20 that we've made but watch this, you ready? 15:24 Now we're going to mix it slowly and gently, go. 15:29 So we're gonna mix it 15:30 till we see everything together, okay, 15:33 'cause we're making our own seasonings. 15:36 And now when we make our own seasonings as you see here, 15:40 then we can make our own popcorn. 15:42 Isn't this cool, y'all? Yes. 15:44 Yes, you like popcorn of course? 15:46 Yes. 15:48 Do you like popcorn, Ezekiel? Yes. 15:49 Do you know, Ezekiel, your name is in a Bible, 15:52 not only in the Bible but is named after bread. 15:55 Look at you, Ezekiel, 15:56 you're making a mess over here. 15:58 But you know what? 15:59 It's okay to make a mess because where we are, 16:01 we in the kitchen. 16:02 Where we at? Popcorn. 16:46 Popcorn, we're going to make our own fresh popcorn. 16:49 Y'all ready to make some homemade popcorn? 16:50 Yes. 16:52 Here it is, so what I want to encourage y'all to do, 16:54 make sure you get, invest, 16:55 it's probably 5 or $10 or something like that 16:57 to get one of these. 16:59 You have 5 or $10? 17:00 Not yet? 17:01 You have 5 or $10? 17:03 Only have $5. Only have $5. 17:05 But I have $7. 17:06 What? 17:07 You have $7 and then I'm sure 17:09 mom and dad will give him another $7 17:10 or maybe 15 who knows, 17:12 but this will be your best investment. 17:14 So go ahead and get a air blower. 17:18 This is the air blower popcorn maker, whatever. 17:21 Ya'll know what I'm talking about. 17:22 So you take about half a cup, all right. 17:25 You don't need to have a recipe 17:27 for this just a half a cup of what. 17:29 What is this? What is this? 17:31 Popcorn. 17:32 Popcorn, all right or popcorn kernel. 17:35 All right, so what I'm gonna do? 17:36 I'm gonna place that in here, okay. 17:41 And then, we're gonna pop it. 17:54 We gonna get that popcorn, 17:56 is going to take a little bit of time, yeah. 17:58 So you have to be patient, but this is my favorite, 18:00 this is my favorite and look it's going crazy over there. 18:04 We'll wait a couple of minutes. 18:07 The popcorn is very, very, very good for you. 18:11 Yeah. 18:13 As you see some of them going to fall out, 18:16 but don't worry, 18:17 we're gonna be very what? 18:19 Patient. Butter. 20:45 Butter, so we're going to take some healthy 20:47 as we see here, 20:48 what is this, anybody know? 20:50 Olive oil. 20:51 Olive oil, you know olive oil 20:52 so we're gonna pour just a little bit, 20:54 sprinkle that over there. 20:55 Why are we pouring a little bit of olive oil on it? 20:57 'Cause it's kind of like the butter. 21:00 It's kind of like the butter 21:01 and then when we put the seasons on it, 21:04 it's going to what? 21:05 It's going to hold the seasoning. 21:07 What it's gonna do? 21:08 Hold the seasoning. 21:09 Hold the seasoning, you got it. 21:11 You got it. Cauliflower. 22:36 You know cauliflower? Yeah. 22:39 Well, I'm going to show you a recipe real quick. 22:41 All you need here for this recipe is some simple 22:45 cauliflower and you can use a seasoning of your choice: 22:58 There it is to make your own cauliflower popcorn. 23:04 And as you see here, 23:06 we got little distracted because this popcorn is good. 23:09 How's the popcorn, ya'll? Really good. 23:11 Good, good. Y'all cleared it. 23:14 I'm trying to catch up with ya'll. 23:16 But we just showed you that cauliflower popcorn recipe. 23:20 And it's really simple and easy to make. 23:24 Well, I want to eat this right now ya'll, 23:27 but let's go here 23:28 and we're going to show you cauliflower. 23:31 Cauliflower, everybody know cauliflower? 23:33 All right who knows what cauliflower is good for? 23:35 It's good for your cancer and... 23:40 Fiber... 23:42 Oh, fiber, okay, 23:43 so it's good to fight against cancer 23:45 and what else fiber. 23:46 Fiber. 23:47 Fiber and what does it look like? 23:51 Broccoli. This is like a white broccoli. 23:53 Yeah, it's like broccoli lost its color 23:55 and it came out as cauliflower. 23:57 All right so, but it's cool too, 23:59 both of them are really good for you broccoli, cauliflower 24:02 as well as very good for you what? 24:04 Who knows what's in the back here. 24:05 Watch me, Ezekiel. 24:07 What's over here under your skin? 24:09 Your heart. 24:11 So what is cauliflower good for also? 24:12 Your heart. 24:13 Your heart, so eat your cauliflower, 24:15 eat your broccoli, 24:16 have a good time with it, and also who knows, 24:19 maybe it looks like a hair sometimes, 24:21 maybe it will be good for you hair, 24:23 for your thyroid, 24:24 who knows, I don't know. 24:25 So what we do is we basically... 24:27 Let me grab a knife here. 24:28 You just basically chop it up. 24:30 What are you gonna do, guys? 24:31 Chop it up. Chop it up. 24:33 Now ask your mom or dad to give you a hand with this 24:35 or you can get a little plastic knife 24:37 and just chop it up. 24:39 Okay and then this is what you're left with. 24:41 A lot of times people throw this away 24:42 but I don't encourage them to throw that away. 24:44 I encourage them to just eat it anyway, you boil it, 24:46 add a little bit of your what? 24:48 Seasoning. 24:49 Add your what? 24:51 Seasoning, okay, so I'm gonna save this later, 24:52 boil it and add it for a season, 24:54 then what do you do? 24:57 You like spread it around. 24:59 You spread it around and you add a little bit of what? 25:02 Olive oil. Olive oil. 25:04 Now what I want to do because I don't want... 25:06 Olive oil is not cheap, you know that, right. 25:08 Before I spread it around, 25:09 I'm going to bring it back together. 25:11 You have a little pan here. 25:14 Bring it back together real quick, you ready? 25:16 And then what am I gonna do? 25:17 You're gonna put the olive oil. 25:19 Put the olive oil on it, 25:20 just a little bit to sprinkle it over there. 25:23 All right, did I get you, Ezekiel? 25:24 No. No, good. 25:26 And then you can take it like this 25:29 and you just kind of mix it up. 25:30 Oh, no. 25:32 I'm making a mess, huh? 25:33 Then wait a second. 25:35 Then I got to add some what? 25:36 Some onion powder, 25:37 some garlic powder or something like that. 25:40 So I put a little seasoning on it. 25:41 This is garlic powder here. 25:43 If you want onion powder, that's cool. 25:45 And then, what else am I gonna add a little bit of? 25:48 Add your seasoning. 25:49 Seasoning, so everybody grab some of your seasoning, 25:51 hold up, wait a minute, wait a minute, 25:54 I'm going to give you my spoon to do that one, 25:56 'cause that one was all up somewhere in your mouth, okay. 26:00 All right, so that's my season in here. 26:02 Your turn, Ezekiel. 26:05 You're gonna add your season in right here. 26:10 Right here in the middle. 26:12 Okay, a little bit more maybe over here. 26:15 All right, that's fine, 26:16 we can put at same place and then your turn, Belle. 26:22 Oh, you just mixed that one, but that's fine here, 26:24 yours is over here, Belle. 26:26 Oops. 26:27 Put it right here and then you should be good. 26:30 But you know what? 26:31 Y'all ready for this? 26:32 Check this out. 26:34 You see the three different colors here. 26:35 So that one is the Italian, 26:37 this one is the what? 26:38 Ezekiel's. 26:40 Now what's this one? 26:41 This is mine that the deli dill. 26:43 It doesn't matter where you put it 26:45 because what are we gonna do? 26:46 Shake it. 26:48 We're gonna mix it all up. 26:49 We're gonna mix it all up, 26:52 'cause this is all good seasoning, 26:53 it's a good flavor, and then what are we gonna do? 26:55 We're gonna let it out like that. 26:59 And then we'll put it out just like that. 27:02 Oh, look at all of that good seasoning 27:04 and then you ready for this, ya'll? 27:05 Yeah. 27:07 We're gonna take this and we're gonna put this where? 27:08 Inside the oven. 27:10 In the oven, very good. 27:11 So we're gonna put this in a oven here, 27:14 and we're gonna put that on about 27:16 300-350 degrees for a little while 27:19 and until it gets nice and brown 27:20 and looks good and then you're ready. 27:23 We already made one for you. 27:26 And then you take it out 27:27 and then there it is, there it is, 27:30 simple cauliflower popcorn. 27:32 Ya'll like this popcorn?
