00:58 Me! Oh, good.
01:01 Boys and girls, do you like to cook?
01:04 Oh, you're gonna have fun today 'cause guess what?
01:07 What are we making?
01:09 We're gonna be making cinnamon pecan pinwheels!
01:14 Yummy! Yum!
01:16 Who knows what a pinwheel is?
01:19 You do? What's a pinwheel?
01:21 A thing that you blow on.
01:22 Oh, well, it's gonna be similar to that
01:24 'cause it's gonna kind of look like...
01:26 We're going to roll it up and then slice it,
01:28 and you'll see it look like little pinwheels, okay?
01:31 Are you ready, boys and girls?
01:33 Okay, so each of you have some crescent dough,
01:36 so here's what you're gonna do.
01:38 You're gonna find the corner.
01:41 See the arrow right there?
01:44 Okay, you see the arrow,
01:45 and you're gonna start it like this,
01:49 and pull it off.
01:51 Oh, it's a little tricky.
01:53 All the way? Pull it all the way off.
01:55 All right.
01:57 And then... Oh, this is the fun part.
01:59 Guess what you get to do. I've done this before.
02:00 Bang it. Bang it!
02:02 You get to bang it on the... Go like hit it like that.
02:06 Oh, see, I'll help you. Look.
02:09 Oh, and it popped out. Okay?
02:11 See, Miss Cinda. Look.
02:13 Looks like a squiddly diddly worm.
02:16 Now I want you to find the seam.
02:18 See the seam right here? Mm-hm.
02:20 And let's carefully...
02:22 Let's move your utensils, so let's carefully unroll it.
02:24 Can I put this in the garbage?
02:26 How are you doing?
02:27 Yes, can you do that for me?
02:29 You can collect all of them, Ben.
02:31 There, we're gonna carefully unroll it like this.
02:35 How you guys doing over here? Let me help you.
02:37 Oh, good job.
02:39 Can you carefully, Shylo, unroll it like this?
02:42 Okay, let's help you, Nicole.
02:45 There you go.
02:46 Now find the seam, see how the seam's right here?
02:50 Can you see that, boys and girls?
02:51 Can you see the seam?
02:53 And let's move your utensils and carefully unroll it.
02:56 Keep unrolling it. You want me to help you, Levi?
02:59 Oh, Levi, let's...
03:01 Whoa!
03:03 How well did we do?
03:05 Okay, so you got to hit it pretty hard,
03:07 boys and girls, okay?
03:09 Now you find the seam... Can you help me, Miss Cinda?
03:11 I'll come help you. Find the seam.
03:13 So, boys and girls, you're gonna find the seam...
03:15 Thank you, Mr. Ben. Thank you.
03:18 Okay, you want to unroll it all,
03:24 and then you want to press the seams together.
03:26 See how there's perforations here?
03:29 So go like this and press the seams together.
03:33 And how are you getting yours, Ben?
03:34 Here you go, Shylo.
03:35 There. Thanks.
03:37 So go like this... You're welcome. You're welcome.
03:40 This is dough.
03:41 It is dough, isn't it? Yeah.
03:44 It looks like a snake when you roll it.
03:46 You think so? Yeah.
03:48 I think it does, too. Yeah.
03:50 But doesn't anymore, does it? No.
03:53 Okay, see how I'm pinching this?
03:54 Can you do that? Yeah.
03:56 Can you push this together like this?
03:58 Miss Cinda, it's sticky. I know.
04:00 And you got to be careful, boys and girls,
04:02 'cause it's sticky.
04:03 So, Levi, can you press your seams together?
04:06 You want to press all these together.
04:08 Good job, Nicole.
04:10 You're doing awesome. I might not have room.
04:11 Here, Shylo, let's press...
04:15 Boys and girls, you want to get all the seams pressed together
04:20 so we don't have any holes in them, okay?
04:23 'Cause we're gonna put some yummy filling in it,
04:26 and you don't want that filling to fall out.
04:30 Are we gonna make the filling?
04:32 Well, yes, we are. Cool.
04:35 And you'll see.
04:37 It's very, very easy.
04:39 But it looks yummy though.
04:40 It looks yummy?
04:42 Okay, you all got yours done.
04:44 Okay, so now what you guys are gonna do...
04:46 Oh, you got a little bit of seam there.
04:49 Good job, Nicole.
04:50 Okay, now get your paint brushes.
04:54 And what you're gonna do is share your...
04:56 This is some margarine, so share your margarine.
04:59 So what I want you to do is dip your brushes in the margarine
05:02 and brush the top of your pastry.
05:05 Let me help you, Ben. Mm-hm.
05:07 There we go. Mine's going slow.
05:09 That's okay.
05:11 You were helping collect everybody's trash,
05:13 so we'll help you, how's that?
05:16 There, good job.
05:17 Okay, get your paint brush.
05:19 Good job, Shylo. What are we gonna do?
05:23 Yes, we're gonna paint.
05:25 Did you ever think
05:27 you'd be painting in the kitchen with food?
05:29 No.
05:31 It's kind of fun, isn't it? My mom's done this once.
05:33 She has? Uh-huh.
05:35 I've never done it before, but now I am.
05:37 Yeah, is it fun? Mm-hm.
05:39 It's very fun. Oh, good.
05:42 Thank you, Miss Cinda. You're welcome.
05:44 Get it all over here.
05:46 You want to cover it. Good job, Nicole.
05:49 It needs some more,
05:51 a little bit more over here, Nicole.
05:52 And let's see, you need to just get more over here,
05:55 and let me spread your dough up for you, Levi, a little bit.
05:57 There you go.
05:59 Miss Cinda. What?
06:00 It doesn't want to stay on here.
06:02 It doesn't?
06:03 Okay, get it all covered real good.
06:05 So I kind of like do it with like a spoon.
06:08 That's okay. That's pretty smart.
06:10 Can you get over here, Shylo? Mm-hm.
06:13 Boys and girls, does this look like fun?
06:15 Yeah!
06:16 It is awesome. It's really fun.
06:19 Oh, and okay,
06:21 you got to get a little bit here
06:22 and a little bit here.
06:25 Okay, now what you're gonna do is get your measuring cups.
06:29 And, boys and girls, you don't have to be exact
06:32 on your measurements for this recipe
06:34 and that's kind of what's really fun about it,
06:37 but you're gonna take about a fourth of a cup.
06:40 So take about a fourth of a cup of your brown sugar.
06:43 All right. And see how I leveled it off?
06:46 Here, let me get yours over here for you guys.
06:47 Is this a fourth of a cup, Miss Cinda?
06:49 Yes, sir. And you know what, Ben?
06:51 I want you to look and, boys and girls,
06:54 that was a very good question of Ben's.
06:55 He was wanting to know if this was a fourth of a cup.
06:58 And how you tell if it's a fourth of a cup,
07:00 you see how it has 1 slash 4?
07:03 That's a fourth of a cup.
07:05 Okay, I'm gonna put your seams.
07:07 Okay, put it in the middle.
07:10 Right here? Uh-huh.
07:11 And now take your fingers and just go like this
07:14 and spread it around.
07:16 So take your fingers,
07:18 and if you need a little bit more brown sugar,
07:19 you can do that.
07:21 So you want to just take your fingers
07:22 and gently spread it all over.
07:23 Hey, Miss Cinda, could I maybe spread it out with this?
07:25 If you want, it might be kind of hard with a spatula.
07:28 Really, your fingers work the best.
07:31 Oh, you put it down in the middle,
07:35 just dump it in,
07:36 and now use your fingers to spread it out.
07:39 Good job, Levi. Does it taste good?
07:44 Okay, can you spread some more, like this?
07:47 You can use both hands, Shylo.
07:48 And I'm gonna give you a little bit more.
07:50 Do you guys need a little bit more brown sugar?
07:53 Okay, spread it out.
07:54 You can use both hands, Shylo. Okay.
07:56 Use this hand too. There you go.
07:58 And spread it all over here.
07:59 Look, Shylo.
08:01 Shylo, can you spread it all over here too?
08:03 Let's see how you guys are doing.
08:04 Oh, Levi, that's perfect.
08:06 You might need a little bit more right there.
08:08 You want to put a little bit more right there?
08:11 Miss Cinda. Yes, Ben?
08:12 Miss Cinda. Well, yes, Shylo?
08:14 Oh, good job!
08:15 Can you put some more right here?
08:17 So you move this right here.
08:18 Miss Cinda, look, I need to get a little bit more there.
08:21 Oh, you're doing good. There you go.
08:23 How you doing, Nicole?
08:24 How about just a little bit more for you too?
08:26 Okay, now when you get that,
08:27 I want you to take your cinnamon,
08:28 your bottle of cinnamon,
08:30 and shake some cinnamon all over it.
08:32 There's cinnamon, here's your cinnamon.
08:34 I'm done. Oh, it sticks to my fingers.
08:35 Oh, that's what you have a towel for.
08:37 All right. Let's go like this, Shylo.
08:41 Look at that. Look at that.
08:43 And now you can use your towel. There you go.
08:45 Now, Ben, you want to shake some cinnamon all over yours.
08:48 And then we'll give it to Shylo to shake.
08:51 Here, while she's spreading this...
08:53 Here, Shylo.
08:54 Whoa, this one...
08:56 Whoa, this one just likes to pour out a lot.
08:57 Make sure, boys and girls, you get the shaker
09:00 'cause Miss Cinda took the whole cap off.
09:02 There you go.
09:03 Shake some cinnamon evenly all over.
09:05 Oh, look.
09:06 Whoa, let's help you here, Shylo.
09:08 How about let's go like this?
09:10 See? You can hold it up and just...
09:12 Like kind of like rain.
09:13 Is it raining cinnamon? Yeah.
09:16 The raindrops fall with the pitter, pitter pat.
09:22 Okay, here, Ben.
09:24 Here, Nicole, you can spray yours.
09:27 Shake it all out.
09:28 You can use your towel, sweetie.
09:30 There you go.
09:31 Okay, Levi, you might want to take your fingers
09:33 and spread that around a little bit.
09:37 It's fun to work with our hands, isn't it?
09:39 And you can take yours...
09:41 You can even take a spoon, Shylo, and go like this.
09:43 Let's spread that cinnamon out a little bit.
09:47 Now when you get the cinnamon, boys and girls,
09:49 you're gonna put the nuts on, okay?
09:51 So you can get your measuring cup
09:54 and measure some nuts on.
09:56 One fourth? Here, Shylo.
09:58 Yeah, well, you know what?
09:59 You can put as many nuts as you want.
10:01 You don't want to get too much
10:03 because then you won't be able to roll it, okay?
10:06 Oh, let's go like this.
10:07 Let me show you. See how I just shake it.
10:11 See how it's raining cinnamon?
10:12 Miss Cinda. Yay, it's raining cinnamon.
10:16 Now it's raining nuts.
10:18 Oh, you're raining nuts now.
10:20 You might want to use your cup, okay?
10:23 You can use your cup too. Here you go.
10:25 You want to use your cup and put some nuts on.
10:27 Miss Cinda Yes?
10:28 Miss Cinda, my mom used to put apple sauce on top of this.
10:31 Now that's a good idea.
10:32 You can do that too, boys and girls.
10:34 You can add some other things too if you wanted.
10:38 Okay, spread them all out, Shylo,
10:39 go like this and spread them all out.
10:41 More nuts there.
10:42 Now, boys and girls, we're almost ready.
10:45 Oh, you want more nuts on yours, Levi?
10:48 Are we gonna roll it up? Are we gonna roll it up?
10:50 Yes, we're gonna roll it up. The whole thing?
10:53 Let's spread your nuts out, Shylo.
10:54 Okay.
10:56 How about spread some little bit more nuts there?
10:57 Can I roll it up now, Miss Cinda?
11:00 Yes, and let me show you on Ben's.
11:01 You guys can watch.
11:02 Nope, we're gonna roll it the long way.
11:04 Okay, come stand over here.
11:08 So you're gonna start like this, get the first part.
11:11 See how I'm doing this, kids?
11:14 So do the long way.
11:16 Nicole, you're gonna need some more nuts, hon.
11:19 Okay, see how I'm...
11:20 and then I'm gently lifting it up like this.
11:23 Oops. That's okay, that's okay.
11:26 Well, press it together when you feel that.
11:28 When you see that and feel it, just press it together.
11:32 Okay, see how I'm lifting it up a little bit?
11:36 Lift it.
11:37 Oh, you're gonna have to pinch those together.
11:39 Miss Cinda. Yes, Shylo?
11:41 Would you like me to help you? Sure.
11:43 Okay, there.
11:45 Let's move all this.
11:47 Okay, you ready? Yeah.
11:49 Okay, let's put this in it.
11:52 Okay, let's help me roll like this.
11:54 Okay Can you go like this? Mm-hm.
11:57 Boys and girls, can you see how we're doing this?
11:59 We're rolling.
12:01 Good, you can use two hands, Shylo.
12:03 Miss Cinda, it keeps falling apart.
12:07 Let me help you. Keep going, Shylo.
12:09 You want to keep it even.
12:11 You know what? Go like this.
12:12 That's okay. It's getting a hole.
12:14 Oh, that's okay. Press it together.
12:17 Press it together.
12:19 See how I'm pressing it together as I'm rolling it?
12:21 Like that, Miss Cinda?
12:24 See, I'll press that together too.
12:25 Miss Cinda, like that?
12:27 Yes. And now... I'll move it with a towel.
12:31 There you go.
12:33 Oh, that's our timer.
12:35 We better hurry. We're almost out of time.
12:37 Okay, now what you're gonna do
12:40 is you want to cut it into about 2 inch pieces.
12:44 I want to wash my hands. Oh, just one minute.
12:45 I'll help you. Okay.
12:47 Let's get yours rolled.
12:48 Can you role yours, Nicole?
12:51 You want me to help you get started?
12:53 Miss Cinda, do I cut it now?
12:55 Yes, now what you're gonna do is cut it and...
12:57 No, no, not that way, Ben. Cut it this way.
12:59 So boys and girls, here's what you're gonna do.
13:02 You're gonna gently cut like this
13:04 and about that big.
13:06 See?
13:08 And you gently saw back and forth,
13:11 and then when you're gonna lift it up,
13:12 let me get our cookie sheet,
13:14 and I've got some parchment paper here.
13:18 Let me just set this up here.
13:22 There, and then you gently lift it up like this, Ben.
13:25 Let me show you.
13:27 It keeps falling apart. It's okay.
13:29 Look, gently lift it up like this.
13:31 I can't do it, Miss Cinda.
13:33 And then put it right on your sheet like that, see?
13:36 Ain't that cool?
13:37 And guess what, Miss Cinda has some in the oven!
13:44 And you can try one.
13:46 I put them in...
13:48 I left them in the oven so they'd be on warm,
13:50 so they're not real hot.
13:52 Oh, that's all the time we have for now,
13:55 boys and girls.
13:57 Just remember,
13:59 any time you can be in the kitchen, it's fun.
