00:34 Hi, boys and girls.
00:35 I'm so glad that you've joined us
00:37 for some fun in the kitchen.
00:39 Today, I have some special helpers.
00:43 I have Miss Emily. And I have Miss Christiana.
00:47 And I have Mr. John Wesley. And I have Mr. Carter.
00:52 Oh, and today, we're going to have fun, boys and girls,
00:57 because we're going to be making
00:59 Miss Bonnie's cheesy crackers.
01:03 Miss Cinda, where is the cheese?
01:05 Oh, Carter, I'm glad you ask
01:08 because we're not going to have cheese,
01:11 they're just kind of taste like a cheesy flavor,
01:15 but we're going to make them healthy,
01:16 so we're going to make them without cheese,
01:19 doesn't it sound fun?
01:20 Yes. Okay, let's get started.
01:23 You have two different kinds of flour.
01:25 And, boys and girls, you can just watch,
01:27 and you can always go on our Tiny Tot website,
01:30 and you can get the recipe there.
01:32 And so this way you could watch and learn,
01:35 and you don't have to worry
01:36 about getting an adult to write it down for you.
01:39 So we have two different kinds of flour,
01:41 we have the wheat flour, and then we have an oat flour.
01:45 And you guys can tell your mommies and daddies
01:48 if they can't find an oat flour,
01:50 do you know what Miss Cinda does?
01:52 What?
01:53 I put oatmeal in the blender and make flour.
01:57 And you can use quick oats
01:58 or you can use the old fashioned rolled oats.
02:01 And then you just put it in a blender,
02:03 blend it up until it's flour.
02:05 So each take a bowl,
02:08 you can put one cup of the oat flour.
02:12 And, Miss Emily, can you put one cup of the wheat flour?
02:15 Is this one cup?
02:17 No, that's a one-half cup. So you need just the one.
02:23 And remember to use your knives, boys and girls,
02:26 to level it off, so you get a good level.
02:29 Okay, Carter, you put it in the wheat flour,
02:32 John Wesley, you put in the oat flour.
02:34 You want one cup. Get your one cup.
02:37 Carter, here is your one cup,
02:39 and here's your knife for leveling, okay?
02:41 Okay. Okay.
02:42 Measure it out.
02:43 And you can use this cup to fill it if you can't.
02:45 Did you get one cup?
02:47 Here, let me help you, Emily.
02:48 Let's...
02:50 You want to make sure you get it even,
02:51 you want a full cup because, boys and girls,
02:55 if you don't measure accurately, then guess what?
02:59 Your recipes not going to turn out.
03:01 Look, what Miss Cinda is doing.
03:03 See, you're going to go like this
03:05 and level it up.
03:06 Now you have one cup. And you put it in here.
03:11 How are you doing, Christiana?
03:12 How are you doing?
03:14 You can use this if you want.
03:16 Let's do this.
03:19 I should have put bigger bowls in here,
03:21 shouldn't have I?
03:22 Because we're getting flour all over.
03:24 Okay, use your knife and level it off.
03:27 Get your knife, and level it off.
03:30 Miss Cinda, I leveled mine up.
03:32 Good job, Carter.
03:34 Okay, now you can put it in your bowl.
03:38 There you go. Put it in your bowl.
03:40 How you girls doing, you're all done?
03:42 Okay, we'll move the flour.
03:44 Now we have onion powder and salt.
03:47 Now, remember, always look at your recipes,
03:49 and have an adult read the recipe to you
03:51 because you get the right measurements,
03:53 don't forget, boys and girls.
03:55 So this says we need a half a teaspoon of salt.
03:58 So you want to do the salt, and you want to do the salt.
04:02 Find your half a teaspoon.
04:03 Is it this one?
04:05 That's one-four, for a half it's one-two.
04:10 Very good. Can you find the...
04:11 Oh, very good.
04:13 Is this a half, Cinda?
04:14 Now you are going to do a... Let me look.
04:16 You're going to do a half a teaspoon of onion powder.
04:19 So that's a half.
04:20 Can you find your half, Miss Emily?
04:23 That's a fourth. Let's find your half.
04:28 You know what? We'll borrow.
04:29 We'll borrow Christiana's half over here, okay?
04:33 Good job, Christiana. Okay, put that in there.
04:36 Did you put the salt in already?
04:38 Okay, put your salt in.
04:41 Oh, it's on the floor.
04:42 Oh, well, we don't want to use it
04:44 if it's on the floor, do we?
04:45 How about if I just put it over here
04:47 because if it's on the floor, boys and girls,
04:50 don't use it because it's dirty,
04:52 and you're going to need to wash it first, okay?
04:56 Good job.
04:58 Good job, guys. Okay, level it off.
05:00 Did that one cup.
05:02 You did it? You got your salt in?
05:04 Okay, now I need to put in
05:07 a half a cup of our nutritional yeast flakes.
05:11 I did it.
05:12 Good job.
05:13 Miss Cinda, this one?
05:15 Nope, half a cup. Put in a half a cup.
05:17 And, Carter, I'll you give you...
05:19 Get your half a cup, Carter.
05:22 And did you put your salt?
05:23 Did you put your onion powder in, Carter?
05:25 Yup.
05:26 You put this in? Okay.
05:27 And you put your salt in. You level that with your knife.
05:31 Okay, do you have that, Christiana?
05:34 Good job. Good job.
05:38 There you go.
05:40 See, boys and girls,
05:41 how to get it nice and even.
05:43 And you have a nice cake.
05:44 Carter, put a half a cup in
05:46 of your nutritional yeast flakes and let me look.
05:49 Okay, stir that up.
05:51 Take turns stirring it, okay?
05:53 And you want to get it all stirred up.
05:55 Miss Cinda, can I use this one to fill this one up?
05:57 Yes, you may. Yeah, absolutely.
06:00 That's very smart, Carter.
06:04 Good job. Good job.
06:08 And, John Wesley,
06:09 you can stir it up. Okay.
06:11 Do you want to stir all that up?
06:13 You want to stir that really good, boys and girls.
06:16 Okay, Emily, let's help you stir.
06:18 Miss Cinda, how do I put this in?
06:20 Yes, put that in and I'll stir it up real good.
06:23 And let me move all this for you.
06:26 And I'll get it out of your way.
06:28 How is that? There you go.
06:30 Okay, you have it all stirred up good.
06:32 Yeah.
06:34 Oh, you know what?
06:35 So now what we're going to do
06:36 is you want a half a cup of cold water.
06:39 Now you want really cold water,
06:41 so I'm going to get our water from refrigerator, okay?
06:44 Okay. We'll get...
06:46 Because we want to make sure that your water is cold, okay?
06:49 So who's got a half a cup? It's your turn, John Wesley.
06:52 So let's give John Wesley a half a cup.
06:55 There you go. Hold it over here.
07:00 And I'll give you a half a cup of cold water.
07:04 That's important.
07:06 Miss Cinda, why does it need to be really cold?
07:08 Well, because it helps your crackers,
07:11 it helps them to form into a ball
07:13 really good and stick together.
07:15 And then it will help you make better dough.
07:18 Yeah, like glue that sticks together.
07:20 Emily, you want to hold this one?
07:21 This is a half a cup. And we'll pour that in.
07:26 Okay, pour that in.
07:29 Okay, now we're going to do some olive oil.
07:33 So here... It's your turn, Christiana.
07:36 And who poured the water in?
07:38 Me. Okay, you did.
07:39 Okay, Carter, let me fill this up.
07:42 Okay, John Wesley, we're going to put...
07:45 Now do you notice that we mixed our dry ingredients in first
07:49 and then we're mixing our wet ingredients?
07:53 Let's mix now.
07:55 There you go.
07:56 Miss Cinda? What?
07:57 It's sticking on here.
07:59 It's sticking on here?
08:00 Well, I'll help you, so it's not.
08:02 How about this.
08:03 How about if I help you?
08:05 Okay, boys, I want you to stir it all up
08:06 until it forms into a dough, okay?
08:10 We want to stir it. Oh, see there?
08:13 See how I'm mixing it into a dough.
08:16 You want to get all your dry ingredients,
08:20 all mixed up with the wet ingredients,
08:22 and then it will form a ball.
08:23 Do you see how it's forming a ball?
08:27 There.
08:29 Okay, now you know what I'm going to do?
08:32 I'm going to make this...
08:35 I'll go like this.
08:36 Okay, so, boys and girls,
08:38 you're going to stir it up real good
08:41 until it forms a ball, okay?
08:44 And then I'm going to divide it into two pieces
08:49 so that you each will have a piece, okay?
08:52 And I'm going to give you some parchment paper.
08:55 So what you're going to do
08:57 is you're going to roll this out in parchment paper.
09:00 Miss Cinda?
09:01 Yes, Carter? Are we done?
09:03 Oh, let me come check, okay?
09:04 Let me give the girls there. Okay, there is yours.
09:07 Now take your rolling pin
09:09 and you're going to roll that out.
09:11 Let me get yours, Christiana.
09:15 Here you go.
09:19 They're moving. Oh, you got to be careful.
09:24 I'm going to move all this for you, okay?
09:26 So there you go, Christiana.
09:29 Oh, boys, that's excellent. No, you take rolling pin.
09:32 That's excellent. Okay, let me stir it into a...
09:39 Let me half it up. Let's stir it like this.
09:42 And then let's half it up. There you go.
09:45 Okay, Carter, do you think you could...
09:47 Let's just take this.
09:52 Take this over to the sink over there, will you?
09:55 Please. And there.
09:58 Here, Carter, why don't you take this to the sink too.
10:02 Now that I'm making room for you guys, okay?
10:07 And here's yours, okay?
10:11 And here is yours.
10:13 Oh, that's a long one.
10:15 Okay, there. There's your dough.
10:18 We better get this out from underneath, John Wesley.
10:21 Okay.
10:22 Now, boys and girls, do you see how we're doing this?
10:24 Do you see this?
10:25 And wait, wait, Carter, you got to have a piece on top.
10:29 There you go. Okay, roll it out.
10:31 Now you don't want to get it real thin, boys and girls,
10:34 you don't want it too thin
10:36 because if it's too thin, then it will burn, okay?
10:40 So get it rolled out nice and even.
10:42 Miss Cinda, how I've done? Oh, very good.
10:47 You see right here how thick it is,
10:48 it's a little too thick
10:50 so roll that just a little bit thinner.
10:52 But yours is almost perfect.
10:55 How are you doing, Miss Emily?
10:58 Little bit more. How about if I hold the paper?
11:00 How you doing, boys? Mine done.
11:03 Yes. Little bit more here, Emily.
11:06 Can you see, boys and girls, we're rolling it out so nice.
11:09 Okay, now what we're going to do...
11:12 Cinda, I think mine is spurting out.
11:15 It just spurting out? Yeah.
11:16 Oh, do you know what you can do?
11:18 Tear this up.
11:19 Boys and girls, if this happens to you,
11:21 take this dough...
11:23 And you can take with the hands.
11:26 Just take it off and put it on your paper.
11:29 Okay, now, boys and girls, here's what we're going to do.
11:31 Look, we're going to take this dough,
11:36 and we're going to turn it upside down.
11:39 Look, like this on your cookie sheet.
11:45 Cinda, now where do I put this dough?
11:46 Oh, put it...
11:48 Yes, exactly, Carter, that's exactly what you do.
11:51 Okay, now take your knife and you're going to cut it
11:56 in the little squares like this.
12:02 Okay.
12:04 And you know what, you can do...
12:08 There.
12:10 Miss Cinda has already treated the cookie sheets
12:12 where you want to spray it
12:13 with the non-stick cooking spray,
12:16 and I've already done that, okay?
12:19 Oh, good job, John Wesley.
12:22 Cinda, look how flat mine is? Perfect.
12:26 Okay, let's get you a cookie sheet.
12:30 Oh, that's our kitchen timer, we're almost out of time.
12:33 Oh! Here.
12:35 And you know what else you can do
12:36 if you don't have the nonstick cooking spray?
12:38 You can actually...
12:40 This is parchment paper,
12:41 so do you know that this can go in the oven?
12:44 So you can just now take your knife,
12:48 and you're going to score...
12:51 I'll get you another knife, Carter.
12:52 Okay. What?
12:54 What, Emily, are you ready for yours?
12:56 No. No?
12:58 Not this time. Here you go, Carter.
13:00 So, boys and girls, you're going to score this.
13:02 Okay, this one is a little thin, John Wesley.
13:04 Mine done. Oh, good job.
13:07 Now take your fork
13:09 and you go like this in the middle, okay?
13:13 Can you do that?
13:14 Okay, you know what, John Wesley?
13:16 All right.
13:17 Boys and girls, make sure you don't get it too thin.
13:20 But, you know what?
13:21 Before our next timer rings,
13:23 how about if you each get to try a cookie?
13:26 I mean, a cracker
13:28 because Miss Cinda makes them ahead of time.
13:31 Look it, see what your crackers are going to look like.
13:35 You want to try one? Yeah.
13:37 You want to try one, Carter? Carter, that's great.
13:40 You want to try one?
13:42 Miss Cinda, these are really good.
13:44 Oh, I'm glad you like them.
13:46 John Wesley, you want to try one?
13:47 Yeah.
13:49 Ooh, and that's our kitchen timer,
13:50 boys and girls, that's all the time
13:52 we have for today.
13:53 So until our next program, remember,
13:56 anytime you can be in the kitchen, it's fun.
