00:02 Recently at ASI, I met some people 00:03 that are doing great things for God... 00:04 Stay tuned to meet them... 00:06 My name is Yvonne Lewis and you're watching 00:09 Urban Report... 00:31 Hello and welcome to Urban Report... 00:33 Today our Program features people that I met 00:36 at this year's ASI... they have great ministries 00:39 and are on fire for the Lord... let's see what they're doing... 00:42 The first interview is with Keith Hackle, 00:45 Outreach Coordinator for Harbor of Hope Ministry 00:48 in Michigan... let's see what Keith has to say. 00:53 So, Urban Report is here in Cincinnati at ASI... 00:59 and I'm here with Elder Keith Hackle 01:01 of Harbor of Hope Ministries, 01:03 So nice to meet you... Thanks for having me... 01:05 So, let's talk a little bit about you and your background... 01:09 Where are you from? I'm from Cincinnati... 01:12 I'm actually living in Berrien Springs now 01:14 and it was amazing when I found out that ASI would be here 01:17 in Cincinnati... I'm like, "Wow, I get to go back home 01:20 and participate at ASI at the same time... 01:22 Yeah... now, did you grow up in the inner city yourself? 01:25 I did grow up in the inner city... 01:26 What was that like for you? 01:27 It was tough... it was tough, I knew my dad... 01:30 my mom was a single parent... 01:33 it was a lot of heartache 01:35 a lot of hard times because Dad would give promises, 01:38 he would give expectations and he wouldn't always 01:41 be able to follow through... 01:42 there was an environment in which I grew up in... 01:45 that lot of people don't make it out... 01:47 so, being here in Cincinnati, in the inner city, 01:50 my mother did an excellent job of trying to encourage me 01:53 God placed individuals in my life that allowed me to see that 01:57 there was a gift that God had given me... 01:59 Ah... an ability that He had given me, 02:01 and I began to be able to see that... and to believe it... 02:04 That's incredible... so you felt early on... 02:08 you had a relationship with the Lord early on in life... 02:11 Yes... yes and you felt a call... 02:14 Definitely... see, that whole sense of purpose 02:17 that's what Dare to Dream is about... 02:20 we want young people to know 02:22 that God has a divine plan for them... 02:24 and that they're not just arbitrarily here... 02:26 but there is a plan... in divine order for them... 02:31 so, okay, so, fast forward... so how did you actually get into 02:36 Harbor of Hope Ministry? 02:38 Okay, I was here in Cincinnati, and we were debating 02:42 on whether we would be moving to Berrien Springs... 02:46 I read an article in the newspaper... 02:48 about the Ministry... and how it's impacting 02:52 the youth in Benton Harbor, and I said, 02:55 "When we go... to settle there, once me and my wife decided 02:59 that we would go... I said, "When we get there, 03:01 I have to check this church out... " 03:02 Ah... and I got there... 03:04 and I just saw the amazing things that were happening... 03:07 Tell us what it does... what is Harbor of Hope about? 03:09 It's kind of... two-fold... 03:11 there is your regular Sabbath Service 03:13 where we pick the kids up... we have 7 buses that go out 03:16 to the Community... and bring the kids in... 03:19 Wow! wow... we give them breakfast... 03:20 there's a Sabbath School, there's a Worship Service, 03:23 there's lunch... and then, they go home 03:25 on the Sabbath... so you feed the kids... 03:27 you give them breakfast... Yes... definitely... 03:29 which is something that... 03:30 a lot of times they are missing breakfast... 03:32 You're right... Wow! so you give them the 03:34 physical food... Hmmm... hmmm... 03:36 before you give them the Spiritual Food... 03:37 Yes Ma'am... Awesome... awesome... 03:39 Okay, so go ahead... run me through the day again... 03:41 So, that's Sabbath... we have Sabbath School 03:43 and those things take place on Sabbath... 03:45 but then we have another component called 03:47 Sidewalk Kids Zone... and what Sidewalk Kids Zone is 03:50 that four days... throughout the week... 03:53 during the five weeks of summer, we take a bus 03:56 it's a bus that has been designed 03:58 specifically for what we do... we take it into the Community... 04:01 and we hold Programs, four days a week... 04:04 in the Community... and it's amazing because 04:06 we reach so many more... I mean... we just completed it 04:09 a couple of months ago, and we had 300 kids show up 04:13 to attend the Programs every week... 04:15 Wow! so you imagine... 04:16 we're reaching, probably, ten times as many individuals 04:20 during those weeks... 04:22 You know what's so great about this... 04:24 this is what Jesus did... Yes... 04:26 He met people where they were, Yes Ma'am... 04:28 instead of... it's so great because... 04:31 you're not even expecting them to come into a Church 04:34 right now... you're going to them... 04:36 Yes... and you're picking up these 04:38 children... Hmmm... hmmm... 04:40 and teaching them and feeding them... and 04:43 this is incredible... this is a wonderful work 04:46 so, what kinds of programs do... when the kids come... 04:49 let's say I'm "little Johnny" or "little Sally" 04:52 what are they going to see when they come to 04:55 one of the Programs? 04:56 Well, when they come to 04:57 our Kids Zone... Right... 04:59 what will happen is... they see this orange bus 05:01 come into the Community... 05:02 Ah... it's like the Ice cream man... 05:04 It's like the Ice cream man... there's no music yet... 05:06 we're working on the music... 05:07 but they see this orange truck come into the Community... 05:10 so they already know that something's going on... 05:12 there are kids painted on the side of the bus 05:13 and things like that... so when they come... 05:15 and we have games first... we start off with the games... 05:17 get them active... get them ready to go... 05:20 and then there's Quiet Time... we go over the rules 05:22 and we say, "This is what's expected of us and of you... " 05:25 and then... after that... we go into a story... 05:28 and during that story... it takes common things 05:31 and it interjects Jesus into the story... 05:34 Oh... like what... like what... give us an example... 05:37 Okay, so one example... there was this cat... 05:40 by the name of Johnny... 05:42 and Johnny decided to leave the church... 05:45 he became an alley cat... well, the pastor from the church 05:49 reached out to him... reached out to him... 05:50 but Johnny wanted to be like the other cats in the alley... 05:54 he wanted to be an "alley cat" 05:55 so, the pastor continued to try, continued to try... 05:59 continued to try... and at the end... 06:03 the pastor was able to show Johnny that 06:06 that he continued to apologize, 06:08 he continued to apologize, saying that he was sorry... 06:10 saying that he wanted to come back... 06:11 but when the environment changed... 06:12 let's say if it was snowing outside 06:14 he wanted to go back... but if it was nice and sunny... 06:17 he wanted to stay there... Hmmm... 06:18 he continued to say "sorry" and what the message is... 06:20 is that... that's how we do Jesus 06:22 when things are the way that we would like for them to be... 06:26 and having fun... Oh, come on now... 06:28 we don't want to go or be involved with it... 06:31 but when things are bad... then we say, "we're sorry" 06:33 the beautiful thing that we communicate to the children 06:36 is that Jesus forgives us... 06:38 if we really, really mean what we say... 06:39 Yes... and we're humble... 06:41 and we're submitting and we say... 06:43 we apologize... that Jesus forgives us 06:45 Yes... and what that gives them 06:46 is that even though they messed up in the past... 06:48 that we serve a God who is willing to forgive our mistakes 06:52 and give us a second chance... 06:53 Oh, that's wonderful... to take lessons in life 06:58 and apply Jesus to them... and show children how 07:03 Jesus is relevant... Yes... 07:05 You know, this is not some age-old deal 07:08 that's irrelevant... Jesus is relevant to their 07:11 everyday lives... and you show that 07:12 someone loves them Yes... that's right... 07:14 and cares about them... that is just so wonderful... 07:17 so you got the Kids Zone... Hmmm... hmmm... 07:19 you've got... what's the other program that you were saying? 07:21 The other component is the Harbor of Hope Church 07:24 which is the regular worship service 07:25 and then we have SOTC which is the mentoring... 07:28 for the kids... Oh... 07:30 then we have the outreach for the parents... 07:32 Let's talk about the mentoring, Yes... 07:33 So what happens there? 07:34 At SOTC, we... because most of the kids worship 07:39 with us on Sabbath... what happens is... 07:41 then we... on Sunday... we gather, 07:43 and we have them bring their homework... 07:45 we have them talk about certain things 07:48 so there is a mentor-mentee relationship... 07:50 someone that you can confide in 07:52 someone who's going to encourage you 07:53 to be the best that you can be... 07:55 someone who believes in you... someone who wants to 07:58 challenge you and dare you to dream... 08:00 Oh, come on... come on... I love it... I love it... 08:03 so you have that environment... and what it does is that 08:05 it allows kids to believe... and start to see that 08:08 success is possible... Yes... 08:10 despite the fact that they are growing up 08:12 in a bad environment... Yes... 08:13 Oh, this is so... this is so... right up Dare to Dream's alley 08:17 you know what I really want to do is... 08:20 is have you on Urban Report... 08:24 when we can do like a longer program... 08:27 because, to me, this today... is just kind of 08:32 wetting our Viewers' appetites but I really would like to 08:35 talk to you... because what you're telling me 08:37 is so critical... it's so critical... 08:41 to the healthy development of the child... 08:44 that mentoring... and then inserting yourself 08:47 into their needs... Yes... 08:49 they need homework assistance, they need to know that 08:52 God's got a plan... that is incredible... 08:54 what is your vision for Harbor of Hope... 08:57 where do you see it going? 08:58 The vision is to have a group of kids... 09:03 that start to apply themselves, and not only apply themselves 09:08 but encourage other kids in the neighborhood 09:10 to apply themselves... that's the first vision... 09:12 a component of that... is also allowing for the children 09:16 and the impact that is being made in their lives 09:19 to then go home and to impact their parents... 09:21 because... we believe that if the children come 09:24 and they are interacting with us 09:26 they are being Discipled with us... 09:27 but then they go back home into that environment... 09:30 where individuals don't encourage them... 09:32 don't believe in them... don't give them the things 09:35 that they need... then, there's kind of something 09:37 missing... so, we also reach out 09:38 to their parents... and make it a "family environment" 09:41 Yes... where everyone 09:43 comes to know Jesus... and that at least one... 09:46 if only one... someone is saved... 09:48 That is so... that's beautiful... 09:50 and that's... again... again... this is not a situation 09:54 where it's just like... 09:56 "Okay, we're just going to give the kids something to eat" 10:00 or... "we're going to tell the kids about Jesus... " 10:03 or... "we're going to help them with their homework... " 10:06 you're doing all of the above... Yes... yes... 10:08 so what you're doing is you're showing these children 10:11 just how important it is... just how relevant Jesus is 10:15 to them... Yes... yes... 10:16 that is so beautiful... so, as we close... 10:19 because again... the time limit here is just... 10:22 our time is limited here... I understand... 10:25 what would you say... 10:29 to that inner-city child that... really is looking for 10:34 something... something else... to reach out to... 10:37 what would you say... look into that camera... 10:40 and speak to that child that is in need of something... 10:43 My message to that child is that... 10:47 "I know your situation right now it may look like 10:51 you're all alone... it may look like there's no hope 10:54 it might look like there's no chance for you to make it 10:57 and you may be on the verge of giving up... 11:00 but my encouragement to you, my appeal to you 11:03 is that you don't give up... 11:04 first of all... you reach out to Jesus... 11:07 He's been there with you, 11:09 even though it doesn't seem like it 11:10 every step of the way... then after you reach out to Him, 11:13 He's going to give you the courage to move forward... 11:16 take that courage and believe that He is able 11:19 to help you be... and do... whatever it is... 11:21 you want to achieve in your life... 11:23 and you keep walking with hope, 11:25 keep walking with Jesus, and you'll be fine... " 11:27 Praise the Lord... thank you so much... 11:30 what else can I say behind that? 11:32 I want to thank you so much for being with us 11:36 I want to make sure that you know 11:37 that you have an invitation to be a guest on Urban Report 11:41 so, we can talk more about 11:42 about Harbor of Hope... 11:44 Wonderful... thank you very much 11:45 Thank you, may God bless you... 11:47 What a blessing Keith Hackle is... 11:51 to say to young children, "Don't give up... 11:54 keep moving forward in Jesus... 11:57 have courage... and move forward in Jesus... " 12:00 That ministry is a wonderful blessing... 12:03 and we're going to have Keith Hackle on Urban Report 12:06 so that we can do... a much more complete interview with him 12:09 Next you're going to meet Tim Allston... 12:12 Tim Allston is the Director of Public Relations 12:16 for Oakwood University... 12:17 Tim has some very interesting things to say 12:21 about what's going on at the Oaks... 12:23 shout-out to those from the Oaks yeah... 12:26 I have the privilege of sitting here at ASI in Cincinnati... 12:35 with Tim Allston... 12:37 Tim, welcome to Urban Report... 12:40 It's good seeing you again, Yvonne... 12:41 Tim Allston is the Public Relations Director 12:44 for Oakwood University... 12:46 Tim, I've known you for a while and you have a very strong 12:51 public relations background... 12:53 tell us a little bit about yourself... 12:54 Who is Tim Allston...? 12:55 Sure, Tim Allston... 12:56 I'm the product of SDA Church School Education, 12:59 my parents raised us in the Greater Boston Area, 13:01 then in 1972 they accepted Administrative staff positions 13:05 at Oakwood College at the time... 13:06 Right... I then went on to 13:08 my alma mater... Hampton Institute 13:10 now Hampton University... as I look back on it now 13:13 it was my "prodigal son journey" Okay... 13:17 I was trying to run away from all of those basics... 13:19 and it took me 42 years to get back on track 13:23 which actually happened in October of 2011... 13:27 when President Pollard... the new President of Oakwood 13:30 asked me to return to Oakwood, and that ended the journey 13:33 the wilderness wandering of 42 years... 13:35 and now I'm enjoying the paradise from the journey... 13:38 Oh, praise the Lord... you know... what... 13:40 okay... here's the deal... Okay... 13:42 Today we have such a limited time... 13:44 Sure... so I'm going to make sure 13:45 that I have you as a guest on Urban Report... 13:48 I mean... for a full program... Promise... 13:50 I do... I promise... and I'm telling my Viewers now 13:53 I promise that we're going to have Tim Allston 13:56 and his... I want to know 13:58 your whole journey because it sounds to me 14:00 that God has brought you a mighty long way... 14:02 and so, we want to know what has God done in your life? 14:06 you know... what kind of journey what did you go through... 14:09 so, you promise... I promise... 14:11 All right... good, good, good... so tell us what you do now 14:14 with Oakwood... and tell us about 14:16 what's going on with Oakwood, 14:17 why should we be excited about Oakwood? 14:19 Well the reason you should be excited... 14:21 and I was a student... I have to say... 14:23 I went to Oakwood... 14:25 Well we can tell by your demeanor and bearing 14:27 that you are Oakwood alumni... Come on now... come on now... 14:29 you know what to say... come on... 14:30 There's so much happening in Oakwood... 14:32 but our job as Public Relations Team 14:34 "PR" as we call it... our job is to capture, 14:37 capsulize and communicate the Oakwood story... 14:40 Okay... and to communicate it 14:41 with speed... with accuracy... with consistency... 14:45 and with passion... to those Organizations and 14:48 public... upon whom our success or failure depends... 14:51 Okay... Our job is telling the story... 14:52 Tell us the story... 14:54 Well, okay, Oakwood began in 1896 officially... 14:58 it began on the site of what was at one time 15:02 a slave plantation... Really... 15:04 the most famous slave of all... Dred Scott... 15:06 was a slave on that plantation at one time... 15:10 in 1895 Ellen White the Founder of this Church 15:14 came to this land and said, "God has shown me this property 15:18 for the education and training of the newly-freed man 15:21 the Black man in this Country" so, in 1896... one year later... 15:25 Oakwood Manual Training School began... 15:28 a 115 years later... 15:29 we are progressing... we are growing... 15:31 we are still fulfilling the mission of the Church 15:34 we are training young people and older adults 15:36 to hasten the second coming of Christ... 15:38 Hmmm... through all of the different 15:40 academic and Community-relations vehicles... 15:42 That's wonderful... 15:45 when someone comes to you and says... you know... 15:47 sometimes our HBCUs Historically Black Colleges and Universities 15:51 are not up to par... Yes... 15:53 what would you say about Oakwood? 15:54 Oakwood is accredited... is it not? 15:56 Fully accredited... 15:57 What would you say when someone tells you that? 16:00 What I'd say is the fact that... 16:02 that may be true in some instances... 16:04 but it's never been the case with Oakwood... 16:06 Okay... what I would tell them 16:07 is the fact that, "You will get a good quality education... " 16:10 at any of the 2300 colleges and universities in the Country 16:13 but you're going to find Jesus Christ at Oakwood... 16:17 Hmmm... we are very intentional 16:18 from the top... all the way across... 16:20 let me tell you what I mean... Okay... 16:21 all higher-education institutions have a President 16:25 Right... at Oakwood... 16:28 our President and our Board of Trustees have put 16:30 in the President's job description... 16:32 that he or she will be the Chief Spiritual Officer... 16:38 for the University... Hmmm... 16:40 what that says is "from the top... " 16:43 unapologetically... unashamedly... 16:45 spirituality is where we hang our hat... 16:49 Oh... from the top... 16:50 across the board... Wonderful... that's wonderful 16:53 so, the President is the Chief Spiritual Officer 16:56 CSO... Wow! and his responsibility 17:00 is to lead the student body to Christ... 17:04 Yes... his job as president is to lead the Institution 17:08 and our stakeholders 17:09 into a higher level of responsibility to Christ 17:14 as Servant Leader... he is Servant Leader 17:17 and what he's also done in that way is 17:20 he has created through the Board 17:22 a Chaplaincy Team on Spiritual Initiative... 17:26 Heretofore we've always had one Chaplain... 17:29 Hmmm... hmmm... that is no longer the case now, 17:32 we have a Chaplain who is in charge of Faculty 17:36 we have a Chaplain now in charge of Staff... 17:39 Hmmm... we have a new Chaplain 17:41 that's come on board... that's in charge of 17:42 female students 17:44 and we have a Chaplain now in charge of male students, 17:46 and the reason that's important in answer to your question 17:49 by HBCUs... is that... within the 17:52 United Negro College Fund... they all are private... 17:55 historically Black Schools... 17:56 Oakwood University has the highest male enrollment... 18:01 41 percent... Really? 18:03 Historically, our Historically Black Private Schools 18:05 according to the President's CEO of the 18:08 United Negro College Fund, Dr. Michael Lomax... 18:11 their basic range is between 30 to 35 percent... 18:13 Oakwood is at 41 percent... Hmmm... 18:15 we are very intentional... 18:17 about young black men coming to our School... 18:19 when you get young Black men to the School 18:21 young Black women are going to come... 18:22 Ah, so you know that eh? We've observed it... 18:27 Well, you know... and that's so true... 18:29 and so... one of the things that we want to do 18:32 at Dare to Dream we really focus on Black males 18:35 a lot on Dare to Dream 18:36 because we know what's going on, we know about the 18:39 disproportionate incarceration, and convictions 18:42 we know what's going on educationally and Societally... 18:46 so, this is so good that intentionally... 18:50 you are reaching out and including Black males 18:54 because one of the things again with the family unit... 18:57 the family unit is in such dis-repair... 19:00 and we need our Black men... to be the fathers and husbands 19:06 so, this is so great that Oakwood is doing that... 19:09 The Bible requires of us... the Bible says... 19:12 Priest, Protector and Provider, That's right... that's right... 19:15 and we're very, very intentional about it... 19:18 It's an exciting time to be at Oakwood... 19:20 Yes, tell us some more... 19:21 You need to come back... 19:22 Well, I mean... we do produce some Programming out of Oakwood 19:27 Yes... which is really great... 19:28 "Living Testimony" and then... so we're doing some things 19:32 out of local... which is really great... so... 19:35 at Oakwood... you can learn to be a leader... 19:39 at Oakwood... you don't have the concerns about certain things 19:46 that you would have in another School, for example, 19:49 you can learn "Leadership" 19:50 you can have a "new connection with the Lord" 19:55 so, at Oakwood... I mean... Oakwood... I love about it... 19:59 and my parents went to Oakwood... 20:00 and so... you know... it's a great thing... 20:03 We are very intentional about Leadership Development 20:06 and Leadership Training at Oakwood... 20:07 on several different levels... 20:09 the President said to us last week 20:12 at our Colloquium... our Annual Faculty Staff Colloquim, 20:15 he said... "An informed people are easy to lead 20:19 and impossible to enslave... " Oh... 20:22 "An informed people... easy to lead... 20:25 and impossible to enslave... " 20:28 and one of the vehicles by which we are making that happen is 20:32 in our Leadership Development Program... 20:35 Our first lady, Dr. Prudence Pollard who was 20:37 a Leadership Development Expert she has taught us 20:40 and she is teaching us that Leadership is developed 20:42 from the inside-out... Hmmm... 20:45 most secular Leadership Development Programs, 20:48 try to develop Leadership from the outside in... 20:51 but, when you have it within... which is Christ-Centered... 20:54 Yes... it flows to the outside... 20:56 but... beyond that... we're starting, in September, 20:59 a Leadership Academy for Faculty and Staff... 21:04 and the reason for that is... 21:05 so that at all levels of the University... 21:07 at top level... middle... and lower... 21:10 that Leadership is trained... it is intentional... 21:14 it is not by happenstance... 21:16 it also fits in with the issue 21:18 that you're talking about with our young Black men... 21:19 In our history... we have had strong, Messianic Leaders... 21:23 Yes... Malcolm, Martin, Marcus Garvey, 21:26 Elijah Muhammad... and when these Leaders 21:28 are off the scene through assassination or imprisonment, 21:31 the Organizations died... because middle-management 21:33 was not developed to move up... 21:35 Hmmm... hmmm... we're not going to let that 21:37 happen at Oakwood... 21:38 Oh, that's great... that is great... 21:40 but when you have that kind of leadership at the top... 21:41 Dr. Pollard... understand... our President... Leslie Pollard 21:43 Let's talk about him... 21:45 Sure... he brings to us a unique set of skills... 21:48 he has the academic doctorate, he has the ministerial doctorate 21:54 and he's got the MBA... so he's able to be conversant, 21:58 and comfortable in academic, in ministerial... 22:01 He's a slouch eh... he's been wasting time... 22:05 and in the Business Community... Wow! 22:08 so he brings to us that trifecta... 22:11 Yes... and we can see that improvement 22:13 already on the campus... he's an Oakwoodite... like you 22:16 he came to Oakwood... he'll tell the story... 22:19 that he came to Oakwood from New Orleans... 22:22 the product of a single parent, 22:23 his mother brought him to Oakwood in 1974 22:26 pulled together all of the cash she had... 22:29 put it in his hands... she said, 22:30 "Son, if I had more... I would give you more... " 22:34 Hmmm... hmmm... and so, he began to progress 22:38 get his Undergraduate Degree, then one Master's degree, 22:43 then another Master's Degree, then a Doctorate, 22:46 Wow! then another Doctorate... 22:48 Wow! he returned to Oakwood, 22:50 the Community... in 1993- '94 as the Senior Pastor 22:56 of the Oakwood Church... so this is a second coming for him 22:59 Yes... and for us... 23:00 yes... okay... 23:02 he married his college sweetheart... 23:03 he says that when he was... he went to a women's dorm 23:10 worship program... and heard this young woman from New York, 23:15 Jamaican extract... stand up and recite 23:17 "God's Trombone" from James Weldon Johnson... 23:20 verbatim... and he said, "Wow! how does she do that?" 23:24 what kind of person... what is the... you know... 23:28 and he began to check out this Prudence LaBeach 23:32 ultimately, they became a couple... 23:37 ultimately they married, produced two beautiful, 23:41 wonderful, professional daughters 23:42 and two of them have returned to give us a one-two punch 23:45 like never before... Wow! that's incredible... 23:48 what a blessing to have him back at Oakwood... 23:51 in this capacity... 23:52 when he can pull from all of these disciplines 23:55 and really just... excel... and we're benefitting from them 23:59 and let me say a couple of things... 24:00 our fund-raising efforts have increased... 24:02 our Alumni are giving more... 24:04 we're raising more on different projects 24:06 because of his business bend... we now have an ISO designation 24:11 International Standards Organization 24:13 it is a quality standardization of business... 24:18 typically, for businesses, as a result... 24:20 the ISO designation that we have 24:22 we are the first and only HBCU with that designation... 24:25 we're the first and only 24:27 Seventh-day Adventist Institution 24:29 with this designation and we're the first and only 24:32 Alabama Institution with this designation... 24:34 what it does... it demands of us 24:37 to have quality at all levels of the institution 24:41 codified, written down, rules, regulations, so bad 24:46 as we were talking before... 24:48 if, for any reason, Leadership leaves... 24:50 we're not having that "Leadership Drought" 24:53 Yes... we could pick up 24:54 because we have the documentation 24:55 Oh, yes, so it's not centered on one person 24:59 That's right... so that if that person 25:02 is no longer there... it continues as before... 25:05 Right... it's system-wide... Wow! 25:07 The other thing that's happened under his leadership 25:09 is the fact that we are now reaching out 25:12 definitively to the one billion Muslims in the world... 25:18 we have created what is called "CAMROU" 25:19 Center for Adventist-Muslim Relations at Oakwood University 25:22 yes... I interviewed the Director... 25:24 Oh, Keith Burton? Yes, Keith Burton... Dr. Burton 25:26 Wonderful guy... Incredible... 25:27 The kind of linkages that he is making for the Church 25:30 Yes... and for Oakwood... 25:32 Yes... incredible! 25:33 Wow! thank you so much for coming... 25:35 I can't even thank you enough, we have to have you on again... 25:38 Let's do it again... Absolutely... God bless... 25:40 Blessings on you too... Thank you... 25:42 Can you see why... why Tim Allston is the Director 25:49 of Public Relations for Oakwood University? 25:51 He is on fire for Oakwood... and that's what we need... 25:56 one of the things that excites me about Oakwood... 26:00 is this whole idea of intentionality... 26:03 the intentionality from the top-down... 26:06 to have a spiritual impact on the students... 26:09 to give them Jesus Christ, 26:11 and to give them tools for living... 26:13 and to help them to move into Society 26:15 and to be productive members of Society... 26:19 and not just... kind of treading water... 26:22 but to excel... can you tell that I'm an Oakwoodite, 26:26 a former Oakwoodite? I loved Oakwood and for me 26:30 it opened up a lot of opportunities 26:32 and doors... and that was a blessing... 26:35 so, if you have a young student in your home 26:39 that's ready for college... send them to Oakwood... 26:42 consider Oakwood... our guests are planning 26:45 to come back and to do a full Urban Report 26:48 with us... so that we can find out more about them 26:51 what they've been through... their ministries... 26:54 and what they're doing for God... 26:56 this is an important thing 26:58 because you have a ministry for God... 27:02 there's something that God has for you to do... 27:05 that is tailor-made... a plan... that's tailor-made for you 27:10 find out what your divine purpose is... 27:12 and then walk in that purpose... 27:14 If you'd like to learn more about these ministries... 27:19 you can go to their websites... 27:20 Keith Hackle's ministry is Harbor Of Hope 27:25 so the website is www. HarborOfHopeSDA.com 27:29 that's www. HarborOfHopeSDA.com 27:34 and, of course, Tim Allston can be reached at Oakwood... 27:38 so it's www. oakwood. edu that's oakwood. edu... 27:46 Please consider supporting these ministries 27:49 both with your prayers and financial support... 27:52 it's so important that they know that you're behind them... 27:56 Thanks for tuning in... join us next time... 27:59 it just wouldn't be the same without you... |
