00:01 In order to reach people for Christ these days,
00:03 you have to think outside the box. 00:05 Stay tuned to meet three men who do just that. 00:09 My name is Yvonne Lewis-Shelton. 00:11 And I'm Jason Bradley, 00:12 and you're watching Urban Report. 00:39 Hello, and welcome to Urban Report. 00:42 And, Jason, I'm so glad you're with me. 00:44 Good to be with you here. 00:46 Yay. Yay. 00:47 We have a great program today. Oh, we do. 00:49 We have a wonderful program. 00:51 Our guests today are Don Frost, 00:53 who's the President 00:55 of Heal Their Land Incorporated, 00:57 Pastor Peter Neri, 00:58 he's pastor of the Paradise Church 01:01 and Dr. Leon Brown, 01:03 President of the Nevada-Utah Conference 01:05 of Seventh-day Adventist. 01:07 Welcome to Urban Report. 01:09 Glad to be here. Thank you. 01:10 It's so great. 01:12 You guys are working on an amazing project. 01:15 And that's why you're here to tell us about the project. 01:18 But, Brother Don, you were saying 01:20 that you have something you want to say, 01:21 and you wouldn't tell us what it was. 01:23 This is completely unscripted, 01:24 they have no idea what I'm gonna say. 01:26 But I have a small testimony. 01:28 This is the third time that I visited here, 01:32 at 3ABN here at the world headquarters. 01:34 And I wanna tell a story about the first time I came. 01:37 Okay. 01:38 So I was on my way back 01:39 from an outreach project that I was doing in Nashville, 01:42 had no idea that I was gonna come to 3ABN 01:45 and I had been working there for several weeks. 01:48 And I had, you know, I was on my way back home, 01:52 back west to the northwest. 01:54 And I had been told by one of your associates 01:58 to stop by 3ABN to talk to somebody 02:01 about a project that I was working on. 02:04 Anyway, I didn't even think about it. 02:05 And I said to myself 02:06 self says I as I was driving home. 02:09 I said I'm near 3ABN I think. 02:12 And so I looked it up and I was like 10 miles away. 02:15 Wow! Wow! 02:16 Now here's the thing. 02:18 I had run out of clothes, clean clothes, right? 02:20 And I didn't know that I was coming to 3ABN. 02:23 But I carry a pair of clothes with me when I'm travelling, 02:26 that have like oil stains on them, and paint, 02:29 and stuff like this in case a motorists breaks down, 02:31 and they need some work done on the side of the road 02:33 to help them get going. 02:34 And so as I was traveling home, 02:37 I was down to my last pair of clean clothes, 02:39 and I didn't have time to do laundry, 02:41 but put these dirty clothes on. 02:44 And I said 02:46 well, I'm going to 3ABN to talk to some folks 02:49 about this project that we're working on. 02:51 And I didn't know what to expect 02:53 if I'd get thrown out of here or whatever. 02:55 Right? 02:56 So I walk in the front lobby 02:58 and you have another associate that works here with you. 03:03 Her name is Christina. 03:05 Oh, yes. 03:06 And Christina had asked Jason, 03:08 you, to move this, 03:11 you have a live heavy tree in the foyer, 03:14 and she wanted it moved, 03:16 and it was too heavy for her to move, 03:18 so she asked Jason. 03:20 And she asked him to do this 03:22 right before I walked in the front door. 03:25 And so do you remember this? 03:26 I do remember moving the tree. 03:28 And so I walked in the front door. 03:30 And as I walked in, I see this tree moving, 03:32 but I didn't see him. 03:37 It shocked me. 03:38 It startled me rather. 03:40 But here's the story I wanna tell you. 03:44 Jason embraced me. 03:46 He didn't know who I was. 03:47 Even though I literally look like 03:49 I just crawled out of the gutter. 03:51 I mean, literally. 03:52 And then he entered, you know, eventually I got to meet you. 03:55 And I was taken around 3ABN. 03:58 And I tell you, I was so impressed 04:00 'cause I could have just been literally anybody 04:03 and I am anyway. 04:05 But, you know, I wrote you a letter later on. 04:07 And I said, you know, when I visited 3ABN 04:11 I had no idea what to expect. 04:12 But I saw Christ here at 3ABN. 04:14 Praise the Lord. 04:15 That's the nicest thing you could say. 04:16 I just want to share it. Praise the Lord. 04:18 Thank you so much. Praise the Lord. 04:20 Well, we must I didn't even notice 04:23 that you have won. 04:25 So we must have seen Christ in you as well 04:27 because your passion for this project 04:30 just comes through. 04:32 Yeah. 04:33 So thank you so much. Absolutely. 04:35 Yeah, I didn't realize you had those clothes on either. 04:37 I wasn't even paying attention to. 04:38 But if I were you and I were walking up 04:40 and I just saw a tree moving by itself, 04:43 I would have turned around and left the other way. 04:45 But I'm glad you stuck around. 04:46 This is where I wanted to be. 04:48 Oh, this is the place of miracles. 04:50 That's true. 04:51 Right, right. 04:53 So speaking of miracles, 04:54 let's talk about what you guys are doing 04:56 because this is an incredible project. 04:58 And it's based on what? 05:00 Well, it's based on Daniel Chapter 2. 05:04 And it's based on that Daniel Chapter 2 05:06 is an exciting story. 05:08 It's an easy to understand prophecy 05:11 that can illustrate to people quite quickly, 05:14 that the Bible can be trusted, 05:15 a 2,500 year old prophecy that hasn't failed in anyway. 05:20 And, you know, we need to reach the cities. 05:22 Yes. 05:24 And we need to go into the cities 05:25 and people have there... 05:27 It's a busy world, 05:28 and we need to do things 05:30 that's going to arrest their attention, 05:32 so that they even have a thought 05:34 of thinking about the scriptures. 05:36 And so what we've done is we've built a statue, 05:39 a large statue, almost four stories tall, 05:43 of the dream that Nebuchadnezzar had 05:45 with the, you know, the gold, the silver, 05:47 the bronze, and the iron, and the feet of clay and iron. 05:51 And working with these men right here 05:54 that I believe the Lord has brought to their position 05:58 for such a time as this to have the vision 06:01 to use this amazing statue 06:04 that Heal Their Land has been privileged 06:07 to be a part of and help build 06:09 so that it can be then turned over 06:11 to be used to reach the city of Las Vegas and urban area. 06:17 It's incredible. 06:18 So and you, Pastor, are the pastor of the church, 06:21 that's you sponsoring this whole evangelistic thrust 06:26 out of your church and all the conferences, 06:28 but are you sponsoring that? 06:30 What's your relationship with that? 06:32 Don and I, one of my church members, 06:36 who is a member of the ASI board knows Don 06:41 and she called me and told me about this. 06:45 And the minute I heard her tell me about this, 06:48 I thought two things, Paradise will support this. 06:52 And I want that image. 06:56 Because people are visual. 07:00 Las Vegas, everything has to do with site 07:03 and even though at surface, it attracts people. 07:08 And this image will create an interest 07:12 and curiosity that we can fulfill 07:15 by doing the whole book of Daniel 07:18 one chapter a night, so to speak. 07:20 Oh, that's great. 07:22 This beautiful message. 07:24 That's really gonna draw people in for sure. 07:26 I mean, I imagine I can only imagine 07:29 like driving by and looking over 07:30 and seeing this huge statue, 07:33 I would want to stop and see what that's all about. 07:36 So now, that's that is great. 07:38 Dr. Brown, what's your involvement? 07:40 Well, so Peter called me and said, he says, 07:43 "Chief, I got a proposal for you." 07:48 And he starts to explain to me exactly what happened. 07:52 And, you know, as a church administrator, 07:54 you wanna make sure that everything you do 07:57 is you've got to vet it, 07:58 you just can't just up say yes to everything. 08:00 Right. 08:02 So, and so we began to make calls 08:04 to try to make sure I understood exactly 08:06 what was going on. 08:07 There were a couple things that concern me, 08:08 first of all, you know, 08:10 not only the statute come into Vegas would be coming. 08:13 But there's also a symposium 08:14 that was supposed to be held along with that, right? 08:16 So I wanted to understand how this is all gonna work. 08:20 What were the impacts, you know, 08:22 and as we begin to talk about it, 08:24 I discovered that it was a Daniel 11 symposium 08:26 that was gonna take place during that same time. 08:29 And, you know, in the church, 08:30 there are different views on Daniel 11. 08:32 And so when I talked to the pastor, 08:35 one of the things we talked about 08:36 was the fact that above and beyond everything else, 08:38 we wanted to make sure 08:40 that this produced unity and not division. 08:43 That was the first thing. 08:44 We've got enough divisive ideas, 08:46 and, you know, and we want in Nevada-Utah Conference 08:49 for things to be, you know, about unity 08:51 and how to bring us together. 08:53 And that's what, you know, came out of discussion 08:56 that this was about unity. 08:57 So not only is this statue gonna be placed 09:00 in somewhere in Las Vegas, 09:03 but there's also a Daniel 11 seminar. 09:05 And then even the same people 09:07 that are doing a presentation will also in the evening 09:10 will be doing a Daniel 2 handout flyers and discussing. 09:13 So they're gonna come together, 09:14 there's not gonna be this great division, 09:16 which makes me so happy. 09:17 Yes. Yes. 09:19 In fact, we have a video role of the tree 09:22 that this sculpture was taken from. 09:25 So let's take a look. 10:39 That's not good. 11:48 Wow! That is amazing. 11:50 Is that incredible or what? 11:52 Incredible, incredible. 11:54 What? Why did you pick that tree? 11:56 Like what was special about that tree? 11:58 Well, the two trees that are preferential 12:01 for this kind of carving is cedar and redwood. 12:03 And so it actually took a couple years to find a tree 12:07 that was big enough to be able to carve. 12:10 And redwood trees are generally protected, 12:13 especially once this size. 12:15 But you can get special permits for them 12:17 if they're going to endanger property life 12:22 for things like this. 12:23 And so we were able to take advantage 12:25 of a person had applied and, 12:29 and the tree was gonna come down anyway. 12:32 And they were gonna take it and haul it off to the mill. 12:35 And we were told that there was $85,000 worth 12:38 of board feet of lumber of redwood lumber in the tree. 12:43 And we told the homeowner, 12:45 what we were doing with it and he was touched. 12:47 And so we were able to purchase the tree for $2,500. 12:52 Amen. Wow! 12:55 Then, you know, we got this company here. 12:58 By the way, 12:59 one of my associates was telling these young men 13:05 Silver Line Tree Service there in Eureka, California, 13:10 about the story of Daniel 2. 13:12 And they invited my associate to their church on Sunday, 13:18 that next week after we cut the tree down 13:21 and to give a presentation on Daniel 2. 13:23 Wow! Yes. 13:25 So it had even impact from the very beginning. 13:26 Starting the work, yeah. 13:27 Yes. Look at that. 13:29 Look at how God just brought everything together. 13:32 The inception of the whole idea, 13:35 how did that happen? 13:36 My wife. 13:39 So we have a very good friend of ours, 13:42 named Pastor Kim Care, 13:44 he is a very good evangelist 13:47 and we were talking about 13:48 setting up a series of meetings for him. 13:51 And my wife said, you know, we should build, 13:55 excuse me sculpt a Daniel 2 statue 13:59 like how the Bible uses various sculptures 14:03 like the Ark of the Covenant. 14:05 And, you know, the God commanded 14:07 that the brazen serpent be created. 14:10 So that people would be able to have a visual aid. 14:13 And so we wanted to, my wife said, 14:15 "Hey, would be a good idea to make a visual aid, 14:18 maybe 8 or 10 foot sculpture of the Daniel 2 image." 14:23 And as my wife and I kept driving 14:25 the statue kept getting, 14:27 the sculptures kept getting bigger and bigger. 14:29 Yeah. 14:30 And I'm glad you said that visual aid 14:32 'cause we want people to know 14:34 that this is not a graven image. 14:35 This is not something to be worshipped. 14:38 That's right. 14:39 It's something that will draw people in 14:41 and they will go to the evangelism side of things. 14:44 Yes. Absolutely. 14:46 So how tall is this is the sculpture? 14:49 Well, the overall height of it with the base, 14:53 including the base is going to be 35 feet tall. 14:56 So just under four stories. 14:58 Just under four stories. 15:00 In fact, we have another video that we're going to show 15:04 that we want you to see about the tree. 15:07 Take a look. 15:11 We're hitting some. 15:16 I hope they come. 15:18 I hope it is metal. 15:26 Looks like little marbles. 15:28 Wow, not much. 15:31 Some kind of metal that was drove in there. 15:33 Is that what is. Yep. 15:35 Right there. Looks like a spike. 15:37 Looks like a spike drove in there. 15:40 Not that big around. 15:41 Right in the middle. 15:43 You need to work around that thing, will you? 15:46 Well, we'll do it. 15:47 We'll do it. You are thrilled. 17:53 Did you see the detail? 17:55 Oh, yeah. The detail. 17:57 The amount of detail in that sculpture 17:59 is just amazing to me. 18:01 It makes me think about, 18:02 you know, when the children of Israel had 18:07 when they were building the temple, 18:09 and they had different people doing different things, 18:13 designing different things, 18:14 and how God gave them the skills with that. 18:17 When the sanctuary in the wilderness 18:19 was being created. 18:21 There was two, excuse me, 18:24 there was two artisans that were used. 18:27 And so in this process, project, 18:30 we've had two artisans working on this sculpture, 18:33 Eugene and Jason. 18:34 Tell us about them? 18:36 Well, Eugene is the primary carver, 18:40 the master carver, 18:42 and he's the one that had this idea 18:46 that he went to the Lord and said, 18:47 Lord, my real gift is carving. 18:50 But how can I use that for ministry? 18:53 And so when I pitch to a church group, 18:58 the idea of, you know, 18:59 hey, does anybody think that this is crazy 19:02 to make a giant statue of the Nebuchadnezzar's dream, 19:05 but I don't know any carver. 19:07 And people pointed to Eugene. 19:09 And Eugene said, I have been praying to the Lord 19:11 that the Lord would bring me something I could do. 19:14 But right in the middle of carving the project, 19:17 Eugene had a family tragedy, 19:20 in a very short span, he lost both of his parents. 19:24 And so he had to leave and go out of the area 19:29 to deal with that tragedy. 19:32 And that's when Jason stepped in 19:34 and helped keep the project going along. 19:37 So the two of them, you know, finished it out. 19:40 And side by side, were able to bring it to completion. 19:42 Amen. 19:44 Look at how God just orchestrates things 19:46 and brings people together for His purposes. 19:49 That is just tremendous. 19:50 We have another video that we wanna show right now 19:54 before our program is over 19:55 'cause it's really winding up very quickly. 19:57 And so let's take a look at this. 22:20 So when you see this, this video, 22:24 what do you think about, Pastor Peter and Dr. Brown? 22:27 What? How does it affect you? 22:28 And what do you think about? 22:31 You know, what I think about is, is the fact that, 22:33 you know, we're so close 22:35 to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. 22:37 And our mission statement for the Nevada-Utah Conference. 22:40 We're interested in using creative ways 22:43 of reaching our community. 22:45 We've got three major regions, 22:47 we've got Salt Lake City, we've got Las Vegas, and Reno. 22:51 And some churches along the, 22:53 six churches along the California border. 22:55 And each of those regions are different. 22:56 We've got approximately almost 50 million people 23:00 that come into our region, 23:01 just visiting those tourist attractions. 23:03 And we've got to find ways 23:04 to be able to reach people for Christ. 23:06 And so when I heard about this, 23:07 it excites me because now we have one tool, 23:11 and we can use in all three of these regions, 23:13 if we wanted to. 23:15 And whatever else, you know, as we look down the road, 23:17 we gonna try to find different ways 23:18 to be able to reach people for Christ. 23:20 Yes, amen. 23:21 And for me, it's, you know, I'm a convert from Catholicism. 23:27 And I was in that church 23:29 and the largest Christian church in the world, 23:33 and never heard of the Second Coming 23:35 of Jesus Christ. 23:37 Never even, didn't even have a Bible, 23:39 by the way. 23:41 And when I see that image, 23:44 I think of the message that I heard 23:46 at this series of meetings I attended, 23:50 and how it impacted me. 23:52 And I see that image to me stands for our church 23:56 and what we represent the everlasting gospel, 24:02 three angels' messages, which is prophecy. 24:06 The Spirit of Prophecy is the spirit 24:08 that's been all the prophets all along. 24:11 And Revelation is the Revelation 24:14 of the Prophet Jesus Christ. 24:16 Yes. Amen. 24:17 And that's what I think of. 24:19 And that's why I'm so excited. 24:21 Yes. 24:22 To use it to have a part of this, 24:25 to know, these gentlemen, 24:26 and what they have done in their commitment. 24:30 And the goal is to get this around the country, right? 24:35 To get this sculpture to be in cities around the country. 24:40 Right? 24:41 What's gonna be unique about the evangelism effort 24:46 when, say, for example, 24:48 people don't agree on Daniel 11, 24:49 what's gonna take place? 24:51 Well, we're like was talked about 24:54 we're gonna have this Daniel 11 symposium, 24:56 it's a somewhat controverted part 24:59 of the Book of Daniel. 25:01 And we're inviting people from all over the world 25:04 to come to this symposium. 25:05 But in the evening time, we're gonna take people 25:09 that don't see eye to eye on this topic, 25:12 we're gonna team them up 'cause, you know, 25:13 we're counseled go out two by two. 25:15 Right. 25:16 Go out into the highways and the byways of Las Vegas, 25:19 and bid them to come to the feast of this message 25:23 that will be given in the evening 25:25 on Daniel 1 and 2. 25:26 The health message 25:27 and the prophetic message together, 25:29 not separated, but together. 25:31 And there'll be able to co-labor, you know, 25:35 when you're in the trenches together, 25:37 like the two of you, 25:38 you're in the trenches together, right? 25:39 Yeah. Yeah. 25:41 What happens is it builds this bond. 25:43 And we believe all of us here, we believe that 25:47 there can be unity in diversity. 25:49 Yes. 25:50 And so we're not asking anybody to lay down their convictions 25:55 or anything like that, 25:57 but just pressed together 25:58 on the main points and move forward. 26:00 Yes. 26:02 And quickly, what do you need to accomplish your goals? 26:05 What are your needs here? 26:07 Number one, prayer. Yes. 26:09 Number one, prayer. 26:11 Of course, the Lord is providing finances, 26:13 we're always needing finances, 26:15 we have some expenses that need to be met, 26:17 but prayer's number one, and just tell people about it. 26:21 And we have a website. 26:23 I'm gonna put up on the screen. 26:26 And that way people can get in touch with you. 26:28 That's where they can donate, if they're interested. 26:30 And this statue, this sculpture rather. 26:34 Okay, it is a work of art, it's for all of Adventism. 26:37 And we've put it together. 26:41 But we're encouraging 26:42 if you are a church, a conference, 26:46 a union, whatever it is, 26:48 and you wanna use this contact us. 26:50 And, you know, 26:52 you give the message, we just help. 26:53 We're there to assist you and your mission 26:56 to get out this message of Jesus' soon coming. 26:59 Amen. Praise the Lord. 27:00 You know, there's one thing I wanna add. 27:02 And that is, the thing that's been driving me lately 27:04 is the fact that we've got to turn 27:06 the work of evangelism back over to our members. 27:09 And what we've done is surrendered evangelism 27:11 to our pastors and with this, 27:14 the this structure, we could use this 27:16 and any member could take a pamphlet, or flyer, 27:19 and they can share with the family member 27:20 because this gospel of the kingdom 27:23 must be preached all the world. 27:24 And it's not the pastors, 27:26 it's all of us have been called to complete that work. 27:28 So this invitation to the world. 27:30 Thank you. 27:31 Thank you so much for being with us. 27:33 We so appreciate, our time with myself flies. 27:34 It's a joy. You really did. You really did. 27:36 We appreciate your passion for this 27:38 and all that you're doing. 27:40 And thank you, Jay. 27:42 You're welcome. 27:43 Thank you for being here. 27:45 And thank you. 27:46 We really appreciate your being here. 27:48 And we've reached the end of another program. 27:51 Thank you so much for tuning in. 27:52 Join us next time 'cause you know what? 27:55 It just truly wouldn't be the same without you. |
