00:25 Thank you for watching Heavens Declare.
00:27 I'm Jim Burr. We're continuing here talking about the
00:31 attributes of God. I discovered 21 attributes of God in the
00:36 heavens that the Bible talks about and you've probably seen
00:40 our clips that we have, short clips, at the end of the hour
00:43 at 3ABN. We often have a minute- and-a-half to talk about the
00:47 attributes of God so today we've got a full hour actually to talk
00:51 about the attributes of God. Our first picture actually is of the
00:55 Horsehead nebula. It is in Orion Now we're going to be getting
01:00 into Orion coming up pretty soon here. But the Horsehead is one
01:05 beautiful sight. And we've got many, many pictures of the
01:08 Horsehead. If you look at Orion it's a constellation you see.
01:11 It's like a man. You see his shoulders. He's got three stars
01:16 across his belt. He's got two feet stars. The Horsehead nebula
01:20 is a gaseous cloud of dust which is located right below the
01:25 lowest belt star. It's actually on the left as you see Orion.
01:30 We have a picture coming up here This is actually infrared. Most
01:34 of the pictures we have of Orion will show the Kodak moment where
01:40 you see the really dark... There's a lot of dark dust in
01:43 this particular cloud, but what a glorious sight that is.
01:47 The snout, right where you put a bridle across that horse.
01:51 You know, we could put 100 of our suns across there with all
01:55 the planets. You could actually put 100 of those there. The
02:00 whole height of the horsehead is about 30 trillion miles.
02:03 It would take five years for light to cover across that.
02:07 So our scripture that would to along with that says in
02:10 Jeremiah 51:15 it says he hath made the earth by his power.
02:15 He hath established the world by his wisdom. He hath stretched
02:20 out the heavens by his understanding. So we see three
02:22 attributes of God, his power, his wisdom, his understanding.
02:26 In this series we've been talking about the power, the
02:29 power in the atom; unbelievable power in the atom. You know, in
02:34 a penny alone the binding power that holds those atoms so tight
02:39 together, if you could totally release that, would be equal to
02:44 2.2 million gallons of gasoline, the chemical energy of 2.2.
02:49 In a paper clip, if you could totally fuse the atoms together
02:53 to release the energy in a paper clip, it would be equal to 18
02:59 thousand tons of TNT. Now that's in the fusion process. In the
03:04 nuclear reactors where we split the atom, actually the fusion
03:10 process is 17 times more powerful than the splitting
03:12 process. One of the attributes is his wisdom. We've see man's
03:18 attempt to create a sun in the Tokamak and in the Hadron
03:24 collider and in Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
03:27 where they tried to create a sun on earth. We have 2000
03:30 scientists with all their education, their learning. They
03:34 are chemists, mathematicians, physicists all working together
03:37 to create a sun on earth and all they can do with their wisdom
03:41 and 20 billion dollars, all they've been able to achieve is
03:45 actually to heat a capsule the size of the head of a match and
03:49 to the temperature of the core of the sun. That's man's
03:51 accomplishment there. But we see by wisdom he hath stretched out
03:56 the heavens, by his understanding, OK, back up.
03:59 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the
04:04 world by his wisdom and hath stretched out the heavens by his
04:08 understanding. I'm sure those scientists working at Tokamak in
04:13 France or the Hadron collider or the Lawrence Livermore
04:19 National Laboratory would consider themselves well
04:22 educated with a lot of wisdom and understanding and yet they
04:28 haven't been able to actually achieve very much. I think we
04:34 have a clip of the sun coming up, an eruption on the sun that
04:40 is a time-lapse movie of the sun and it shows you the tremendous
04:45 power, unbelievable power. Those flares, those eruptions, go up
04:50 at the speed of about 400 miles every second, 400 miles a second
04:54 That's faster than a speeding bullet. Look at that eruption.
04:59 These are not nice if they're headed our way. But they're
05:04 caused basically by sun spots, very intense sun spots, and
05:08 around these sun spots are magnetic storms, a black spot.
05:12 When we look through the telescope... We try to look
05:16 through there pretty regular, almost every day, and when we
05:19 see sun spots they look basically, I can describe it,
05:22 like blackheads. You know what a blackhead looks like, or a fly
05:26 speck on the sun. These are magnetic storms and usually
05:30 we will have a north and a south magnetic pole and a plasmal
05:33 fountain between them and we see them appear on the right
05:36 side of the telescope and the next day they're here, here,
05:39 and here. We watch them for 14 days till they go around behind
05:42 the sun. But we have this incredible power in the sun.
05:47 He stretched out the heavens by his understanding. I was reading
05:54 an interesting statement that says the unrenewed heart would
06:00 be a discordant note in the melody of heaven. Heaven would
06:05 be a place of torture to the person who does not have a
06:10 renewed heart in Christ. This is in Steps to Christ, chapter 18.
06:17 The unrenewed heart would be a discordant note in the melody of
06:22 heaven. How be it, the Most High dwelleth not in temples made
06:27 with hands saith the prophet. Heaven is my throne, as earth is
06:33 my footstool. What house will you build me saith the Lord, or
06:39 what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these?
06:43 We see all the beauties of the of the Hubble space telescope,
06:48 the pictures of heaven, and they're just breathtaking to see
06:53 the results of the Hubble space telescope. We are now looking at
06:58 a cluster of stars, a mega star cluster. I believe there are
07:03 about 10 million, they say 10 million stars in here. Those are
07:08 10 million suns. You know, like our sun is just a star. It's
07:11 just an average star, nothing special. There are many stars
07:15 are bigger, many stars that are smaller and so our sun is just
07:20 kind of an average one of the stars in our galaxy. The next
07:27 graphic we have shows the... actually we're looking at, again
07:33 an area in our Milky Way galaxy, a most beautiful gaseous nebula.
07:38 Actually nebula is basically a Latin word for cloud. We've got
07:43 another graphic some up. This would show you your genetic code
07:47 These are a's, c's, t's and g's. This is the instruction for
07:52 making you. It is in your DNA. It is the letter codes that tell
07:56 every cell in your body what they're going to be and we have
08:00 seven million people on earth. Every one of them has a
08:03 different code, a different message. This folks would blow
08:07 you away if you researched this. Because these letter codes tell
08:12 every cell what to do and they're overlapping. You could
08:17 four different messages in a line of code. There's code ones
08:21 there's start messages and stop messages. So when it reads,
08:27 when your RNA reads your code, it is told where to start and
08:32 where to stop and it says OK you guys 20 million cells, you're
08:36 going to be a heart and you guys are going to be a liver, you
08:40 guys are going to be a brain, and the color of your eyes and
08:43 all of this type of thing. That is your recipe. That is a code
08:49 that tells you cells who you are. There are 7 billion people
08:55 on earth and everyone a different finger print.
08:56 Think of that. It's been said that the DNA is the language of
09:01 God, the language of God. Twenty three chromosomes from mom, 23
09:06 from dad. Every cell in your body has to copy those. Every
09:11 time a cell dies, before it dies it has to make a copy. Depending
09:17 on the font size if you were sitting at the keyboard, it
09:19 would be a whole life time. You need two million or more pages
09:23 depending on the font size, if you were going to type the code
09:28 that is in every cell in your body. It would take you a full
09:33 lifetime to copy the information in one cell. Yet your cells can
09:38 copy that in a day or less. It's just totally amazing. So it's
09:43 been said that DNA is the language of God. In the copy
09:47 process it makes mistakes. In fact, your lifestyle is going to
09:52 affect the mistakes. Smoking and drinking are the worst. In the
09:56 copying process, if you had a hangover, you'd have a hard
09:59 time typing that out wouldn't you. Well the same thing happens
10:02 in your cells' copying your genetic code. They will make
10:07 mistakes. Every time they copy it, 100 billion cells in your
10:11 body, every time they copy that they're going to make at least
10:17 100 thousand errors, mutations, 100 thousand mistakes to a
10:21 million depending on the condition of your body, how good
10:24 condition you're in, you see, how well you take care of your
10:28 body. But the good news is that there is a spell checker. There
10:33 are 50 genes that are there to spell check, to correct, just
10:38 like when you're typing on your keyboard and you type in a wrong
10:43 letter and it fixes it at the speed of light, boom, it fixes
10:46 that. Sometimes it calls in the reserves. It says you've got a
10:51 problem here. It will give you four or five choices of words
10:55 or words like spell check. We've got a problem. I don't know what
10:58 the answer is. You'll have to tell me. When the spell
11:02 checker, the proof reader, looks at your code and says we've got
11:06 a problem. It calls in 50 genes to correct that. And when those
11:09 genes get done correcting your error code where you may have
11:13 100 thousand, did I say, 100 thousand to a million, you're
11:17 going to get one in a billion errors. We're going downhill,
11:21 yes, we're mutating, we're going downhill. But the good news is
11:25 we've got a spell check there and the good news is it's the
11:29 language of God, your DNA is the language of God, and God wrote
11:33 a picture of you never before seen in the history of the
11:37 universe. Every one of you is so special. There's not another
11:41 person like you on planet earth and that comes from your genetic
11:46 code. A message from God. God wrote a picture of you never
11:51 before seen in the history of the universe with 7 billion
11:57 people. The universe continues to baffle the mind of science.
12:02 God has established the world by his wisdom, the scripture says.
12:08 As we move along we have another graphic coming up of our earth
12:15 there. What holds the earth in place? Well gravity and the
12:18 Bible says God hangs the earth on nothing. You would expect it
12:23 to be supported with something. Then we have a picture of a
12:28 shedding star. This is a class of stars that are a million
12:33 times brighter than our sun. By the word of the Lord were the
12:38 heavens made. Psalm 33:6. It's a snap shot of a shedding star.
12:41 This star is shedding gas and it's just one more beautiful
12:45 picture from the Hubble space telescope. The next picture we
12:50 have is the Cone nebula. This is just a beautiful sight. It's
12:54 quite a large column of gas. It's located in the sky, just if
12:58 you find Orion, it's just over to the east of Orion, in the sky
13:05 A beautiful sight to see. Our next cloud is called the Helix
13:09 nebula. This happens to be the closest nebula to earth. This is
13:13 about 450 light years about. It takes light about 450 years to
13:19 get here from the Helix. But just one more beautiful sight in
13:25 our galaxy. We have a star cluster coming up here. This is
13:29 just beautiful. It's an open cluster and a lot of hydrogen
13:33 gas around it. Then we have a galaxy coming up, the Sombrero
13:37 galaxy. The Sombrero galaxy we believe is probably the biggest
13:41 galaxy. They say that there may be 800 billion stars in the
13:46 Sombrero galaxy. This is in the constellation, this is actually
13:50 in the east in the spring of the year and it's a beautiful sight.
13:53 Amateur telescopes can look at this. It has a designation of
14:00 SEA104 but it's called the Sombrero galaxy and a
14:03 beautiful sight to see. The next one we have is the Whirlpool
14:08 galaxy. The Whirlpool is right off the handle of the Big
14:11 Dipper and the Whirlpool looks like it has another galaxy that
14:15 is sort of tagging along with gravity. You see galaxies are
14:18 like kids on a teeter totter; they kind of want to be balanced
14:22 and you'll see how the arms on the right have stretched way
14:26 out and on the left you see that arm, you'd expect to be wound
14:30 more tightly. But because they are rotating and maybe trying
14:35 to balance the mass that we see in the two there. I was reading
14:38 another statement here that was quite interesting. It says: It
14:42 was a marvel to all the universe that Christ should humble
14:46 himself to save fallen man. That he who had passed from star to
14:51 star, from world to world, superintending all by his
14:55 providence, supplying the needs of every order of being in his
15:00 vast creation. Yes, he considered heaven a place not
15:06 to be desired while you and I were lost. It goes on: It was a
15:12 marvel that he should consent to leave his glory and take upon
15:18 himself human nature. It was a mystery which the sinless
15:22 intelligences of other worlds desired to understand. Yes, many
15:25 Christians don't think there's life out there, there's any
15:29 other inhabited planets. We're going to address that in one of
15:32 these programs. But let me just give you a couple of scriptures.
15:36 I think that there is life out in space. The Bible says we're
15:40 a spectacle to the angels. If you look at Hebrews 1 verse 3
15:44 it says he made the universe of worlds. It's repeated as
15:48 something similar in Hebrews 11. If you look at Nehemiah 9:6: He
15:52 made the heavens with all their hosts. Well that could be the
15:56 stars, right? But the rest of that verse says he created the
15:59 heavens with all their hosts and the hosts of heaven worship him.
16:05 We're going to look at Mark 13: at the very end of time Jesus
16:09 sends his angels to gather his elect from the uttermost part of
16:14 earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Matthew 24 has a very
16:17 similar statement; at the very end of time he sends his angels
16:20 to gather like from the four winds of earth to the uttermost
16:25 part. So we see God's elect, we see his angels, we see the birth
16:31 of Christ, we see a whole heavenly host and we can look at
16:34 Job 1 verse 6, there was a day when the sons of God came to
16:38 present themselves before the Lord. This is an event in space.
16:42 This is an event outside of earth and the sons of God came
16:45 to present themselves before the Lord. The Lord looks around,
16:48 we've got a big meeting apparently and he goes wait a
16:52 minute, who are you? Tell the people who you are. And he says
16:56 where you're from. Well I'm Satan, I'm from the earth, going
17:01 to and fro in the earth. So this event was outside. And the sons
17:05 of God-who are those sons of God? That's repeated again in
17:09 Job 2. Again there was another day when the sons of God came
17:12 to present themselves. I think this was kind of a regular
17:16 meeting apparently in space. This was a space meeting in
17:22 heaven somewhere. And Satan says yes I'm from the earth.
17:26 Now there is a sense, if you think about the sons of God, we
17:29 can become sons of God, now are we the sons of God, the Bible
17:33 says. We can become the sons of God but there is a sense in
17:37 which Adam was a son of God that you and I are not the sons of
17:40 God. If you go to the genealogy of Christ you go back which is
17:43 the son of Enoch, which is the son of Seth, which is the son
17:46 of, you know, which is the son of Adam, what's the scripture
17:49 say? Which was the son of God. So there's the sense in which
17:53 Adam was the son of God different than you and I because
17:56 he was the one that came from the hand of the creator. So
17:59 there was a day when the sons of God... If we have life out there
18:05 if Jesus created the universe of worlds... Isaiah 45:18 says:
18:10 When he made the earth, he did not create it in vain, he
18:14 created the earth to be inhabited. Well the Keppler
18:18 telescope has discovered already about 3000 planets. Are
18:22 those planets created in vain or were they created to be
18:26 inhabited? You see when you start putting the scripture all
18:29 together you see a picture that God has, I believe, a universe
18:33 filled with life. Now we need to be clear. This is the only place
18:37 there's sin. There's no other sin any place in the universe.
18:42 And sin is never going to happen again, because the Bible tells
18:47 us iniquity shall not rise a second time. It's only once,
18:51 it's here. God's on trial on this planet. God is on trial.
18:56 We're going to do a program on the great controversy where
18:59 this planet the universe is watching. We're a spectacle
19:03 to the angels. God is on trial here because Satan was the
19:07 accuser of the brethren and God wants the universe to see who's
19:12 right and see who's wrong. We see the results of misery and
19:17 death and disease on this planet It's the result of Satan; he
19:21 causes all the hell he can cause on this planet because God gets
19:25 blamed. People say where is God with starving children. Where's
19:28 God... You know my friend was a good Christian; he got hit by a
19:32 train. You know, where was God, where was God? Why does God
19:35 permit this? The hardest question that theologians have
19:40 to answer, the very hardest question is, why do bad things
19:44 happen to good people? That is the hardest question. But when
19:48 we start looking at this whole picture of sin and Satan and God
19:52 and the war in heaven then all of a sudden, you know something
19:57 folks, it jumps out clear as can be that God is on trial on this
20:01 planet. You see, we had rebellion in heaven. Satan, the
20:05 accuser of the brethren, rebelled and took a third of the
20:09 angels with him. Well if you think of a court room scene, if
20:14 we go to a court room, OK, we need a jury and the jury has to
20:19 be neutral. You need to decide who's right, who's wrong. Satan
20:22 says I will be like the Most High. I will exalt myself above
20:27 the stars. I, I, I, I will be like the Most High. And God
20:30 says not you're not. I'm going to bring you down. The war was
20:34 apparently a war of words, rhetoric and what can God do?
20:40 In a court room, OK, God is the defendant, right, Satan is the
20:44 accuser of the brethren. If God says look you are a trouble
20:49 maker, you're no good, you're out of here, you're gone, you're
20:53 zapped. You see a third of the angels went with Satan and two-
20:57 thirds stayed with God. What do the angels think in a court room
21:02 if the defendant kills the plaintiff? Who's guilty? God's
21:05 hands were tied. There was nobody in the universe, there
21:09 was no jury. There was nobody in the universe that could decide,
21:12 was God right or wrong, who was at fault here. So you know what
21:16 God said, we're going to have to put the court room on the earth.
21:21 Let's let the earth be the court room. Let's see how bad the
21:26 devil is. I'll show you how good I am. And God gives us all these
21:30 good things. Satan causes all the misery, all the suffering,
21:34 all the starving children, all the violence. I mean, we can't
21:39 even understand why people would strap bombs to themself
21:42 and blow themselves away. But that's all the devil. We've got
21:46 to put the blame where it is. So God shows us his goodness, he
21:49 makes all the beautiful things on the planet. Moses says, let
21:54 me see your glory and God said I'll make my goodness pass
21:58 before you. So God has created all the beautiful things we see
22:01 in heaven and on earth, the mountains and the trees and the
22:05 flowers, the plants and the animals and the children and the
22:09 families and all these things. Then God has given us 20,000
22:13 herbs and spices. He said satisfy your mouth with good
22:16 things in Romans. God wouldn't have had to give you cinnamon
22:22 or oregano or you know all the spices that he gave. How many
22:26 foods has he given us. How much evidence has he given us that
22:31 he's there. You see, if God solved every problem, if God
22:37 every cancer, healed every problem, fed every starving
22:41 child. We're in a court room. Are you with me? We're in a
22:45 court room. We see how bad the devil is, we see how good God is
22:48 trying to show us his goodness. The devil's nature is terrible,
22:52 terrible, terrible. And God says that we're a spectacle to the
22:56 angels. The universe is watching If God had destroyed the devil,
23:02 the angels would not have seen how bad things were. God says
23:07 I'm sorry folks. This earth is the court room. This earth is
23:11 going to let the universe, let the people decide who's right
23:17 and who's wrong. Is God right? Now in a court room if the
23:22 defendant tampers with the evidence, we've got a mistrial.
23:26 If God fed every child, if God solved every problem, healed
23:31 every cancer, he's tampering with the evidence and we have a
23:36 mistrial. You see God can't solve every problem. Now he does
23:40 I believe he answers our prayers I've seen him answer our prayers
23:44 God does answer our prayers but God cannot fix every problem
23:48 because that's tampering with the evidence. If God fixed every
23:51 problem on earth what are the angels going to say, the other
23:54 planets out there going to say? They're looking at the earth and
23:57 and they go like what's the deal? God says the devil's bad.
24:02 I don't see it. You know God fixes all the problems. That's
24:06 tampering with the evidence, you have a mistrial. So this
24:10 question is the hardest question I hear people call in on the
24:13 radio, Christian talk shows. Starving children, where is God?
24:17 You know my friend was good Christian and he got killed when
24:21 he was 20 years old or whatever, hit by a train or run over...
24:25 And the answer is always the same. All things work together
24:29 for good. You've got to trust the Lord. He's sovereign. I mean
24:33 I've read their books and I've listened to their programs and
24:37 it's always the same. But you see this great controversy, this
24:41 court room, if you look at this from the perspective of the
24:45 universe where there was war in heaven and there was no jury
24:49 that was neutral, there was nobody neutral. Everybody had
24:52 taken sides. God said well I can't destroy the devil because
24:55 all of a sudden I'm going to be in trouble. People are going to
24:59 blame me. So let's set up a court room on earth. Let's see,
25:02 respecting the angels, let's see the results of sin and rebellion
25:07 and to me I think that answers a lot of questions. People have
25:12 told me that that does make a lot of sense, it answers a lot
25:16 of questions why bad things happen to good people. Well I've
25:20 gotten off my track today. We've got a couple minutes left. We've
25:25 got a few more pictures queued up over there so I think we'll
25:29 go to the next picture and we're looking at the Eagle nebula. If
25:33 you can back up and take a really wide view you'd see what
25:36 looks like an eagle's wings and the head and tail. The very
25:39 heart of the eagle are these columns of gas and they are
25:43 really beautiful columns of gas. Takes about five years to cover
25:48 that area there on the left. These are called the pillars of
25:54 creation and these are out- gassing, off-gassing like a
25:56 piece of dry ice. If I had a piece of dry ice here you'd see
25:59 the vapor coming off and after the end of a program or two it
26:02 would be getting smaller and smaller and smaller. Well these
26:05 clouds are kind of doing the same thing. But there was a
26:08 scripture that I put with that. Again the attributes of God. It
26:13 said let them praise the name of the Lord for his name is very
26:21 great and his glory towers over the earth and over heaven. The
26:28 heavens tell us of the creativity of God. Isaiah 40
26:31 verse 25 and 26. The next one we have is a picture of the
26:35 Antennae galaxy. It's two galaxies that have been named
26:39 the Antennae galaxy and you see the tail coming out there of the
26:45 two galaxies. They are gravitationally bound together.
26:48 In the next slide, the Hubble zooms in and zooms in and we've
26:51 got the most beautiful picture of the Antennae galaxies as the
26:54 Hubble zooms into the core. Just look at the beauty there of the
26:58 center part of that galaxy. Yes folks, you know, I think we're
27:02 going to get to... Would you like to travel through space and
27:05 see the beauties that we're seeing with the Hubble telescope
27:08 The Bible tells us eye has not seen, ear has not heard, it
27:12 hasn't even entered into the heart of man the things which
27:16 God has prepared for them that love him. So I think Jesus
27:20 probably can't wait to take you there. Revelation 14 says the
27:25 redeemed from the earth are going to follow the Lamb
27:27 wherever he goes. I think we're going to get to travel with
27:29 Christ through space and see the beautiful things he has created,
27:33 and the Bible tells us and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
27:37 We'll see you next time on Heavens Declare.
27:39 Thank you for watching.
