00:11 The Bible contains the most important
00:14 words in the world 00:15 because this is a message from God. 00:17 In fact, in the Bible, it pronounces a curse on anyone 00:21 who would dare to take away anything 00:23 that is written in His Word. 00:25 You know, one printer in England 00:26 was put out of business, 00:28 because he simply left out 00:29 one three letter word in the Bible, 00:32 that King shut him down and find him a great fine. 00:35 You see, the problem was 00:36 the one word he left out was the word not, N-O-T, 00:40 and he lift it out of the Ten Commandments. 00:43 So, of course, the Seventh Commandment says, 00:45 "You should not commit adultery." 00:47 But in this new wicked Bible, 00:48 it said, "You should commit adultery." 00:51 Obviously, that gave the wrong impression. 00:54 You know, the Bible tells us in the last days, 00:56 the beast power is going to try to tamper with God's Word 00:59 and take away from His law. 01:01 We're gonna learn about His devices. 01:02 So join me, get on board with this Amazing Adventure. 01:24 Hello, boys and girls. 01:25 Welcome again to Amazing Adventure, 01:28 A Journey for Life with Jesus. 01:30 And we're on a mission of discovery in our ship 01:33 called HMS Adventure week, 01:35 on a voyage finding Bible truth. 01:38 So again, I'd like to welcome all of those here in Michigan, 01:41 and also our friends who are joining us 01:42 across the country and around the world. 01:44 Well, before we get to our study today, 01:46 as many of you know, we have a theme song 01:49 that we like to sing at the beginning of 01:50 each of our presentations. 01:52 And we're very excited to have Pastor Doug Batchelor 01:55 as the one who is guiding us on this mission of discovery. 01:58 So this time, let's welcome Pastor Doug 02:01 as he joins us on stage. 02:07 Hello, boys and girls. Welcome to Amazing Adventure. 02:11 And, boy, we've got an exciting lesson 02:13 that we're gonna be studying tonight. 02:14 I wanna welcome those who are watching on television 02:17 or on the internet, and I even have 02:20 a few grandchildren that may be watching 02:22 that are your age, I wanna welcome them as well. 02:25 We're gonna begin with our song. 02:26 We'll invite our singers to come up front here. 02:29 And we're gonna be singing "Life is an Adventure." 02:31 And I think you're gonna stand with us as we sing. 02:33 Yes. 02:34 Let's stand and we'll sing together, 02:36 "Life is an Adventure." 02:42 Life is an adventure Following the King 02:47 Every day with Jesus Makes us want to sing 02:52 Walking in the spirit He will lead the way 02:57 With his words to guide us Glowing deep inside us 03:02 Nothing can divide us Following the King 03:08 Life is an adventure Following the King 03:13 Every day with Jesus Makes us want to sing 03:18 Conquering with kindness Everywhere we go 03:23 Voices we are raising Jesus we are praising 03:28 Life is so amazing Following the King 03:35 Life is so amazing Following the King 03:44 Amen. Thank you very much. 03:47 And you may be seated. All right. 03:50 Every night, we try to take a few Bible questions from kids 03:54 around the country and other parts of the world. 03:56 So I understand we've got some good question, Pastor Ross. 03:58 We do. 03:59 We have some questions that's coming from 04:00 literally around the world and I think we ready for 04:02 our first video question. 04:05 My name is David. 04:06 I'm from Israel. 04:07 My Bible question is, will our pets go to heaven? 04:10 You know, Pastor, 04:12 that's a question we get quite a bit. 04:13 Will my pet be in heaven? 04:15 Well, what does the Bible say? 04:17 Was your pet a good pet? 04:19 Hey, was it a bad pet? 04:22 You know, there's no verse in the Bible that says 04:24 our personal pets will be in heaven. 04:27 But there's no verse that says they won't be. 04:30 And we do know that God 04:31 is gonna have animals in heaven. 04:34 Bible tells us in Isaiah 11, 04:36 it talks about the animals in heaven. 04:39 Did God have animals in paradise 04:41 when He made Adam and Eve, in the beginning? 04:43 So does God love animals? 04:45 We might even get a visit tonight 04:47 from an animal before we're done. 04:51 And so when you get to heaven, 04:53 how many of you have had a special dog or, a cat, 04:56 or guinea pig, or parakeet, or whatever it is, 04:58 and you became friends? 05:01 Most people live longer than their pets, 05:05 unless you got a pet tortoise. 05:10 I met a tortoise once that was almost 200 years old 05:13 in the Australia zoo. 05:16 And the other thing is that the cockatiels? 05:20 Yes, certain parrots live a very long time. 05:23 Otherwise we sometimes see our pets die 05:26 and it makes us very sad. 05:28 Could Jesus surprise us and resurrect our pets 05:31 with a little glorified bodies in heaven if He wanted to? 05:34 Yes. 05:35 So when you get to heaven, 05:36 you're gonna probably have a lot of surprises. 05:38 I can't promise you your pet will be there, 05:39 but I will promise you nobody will be unhappy. 05:41 Okay? 05:43 All right, our next video question. 05:46 My name is Ella. 05:47 And I'm from Michigan. 05:49 My Bible question is, does God has friends 05:52 or is He alone? 05:54 All right. 05:55 So Ella's wondering, does God have friends up there? 05:57 I assume up in heaven or is He living alone? 06:01 Well, God doesn't wanna be alone, 06:03 which is why He made a universe full 06:06 of intelligent creatures. 06:08 You know, I believe the Bible says, 06:10 "Not only does God have His children, 06:12 "Bible says, "He's our father. 06:14 So He's not alone, we're His children." 06:16 Does God have angels around Him? 06:18 Yes. 06:20 And He talks to them, Gabriel came to Daniel, 06:22 He says, "I have come from the presence of God." 06:24 Gabriel's an angel, 06:25 it's probably a good friend of God's. 06:27 And then God, I believe, He's got other creatures 06:30 that are un-fallen. 06:31 They've not sinned throughout the universe. 06:34 The Bible says, through Jesus, God made the worlds, plural. 06:39 And you read in Revelation, 06:40 it talks about all the creatures in heaven 06:42 are praising God. 06:44 And so, I think God does have friends, 06:46 God doesn't wanna be alone. 06:48 And God the Father, Son, and Spirit have created 06:52 a universe full of intelligent people 06:54 and beautiful animals and creatures. 06:57 And Paul says, "When we get to heaven, 06:58 we can't even imagine the things that 07:00 God's prepared for those that love Him." 07:02 Okay. 07:03 And our next question that we have. 07:05 Hi, Pastor, that I'm Angeline. 07:08 I live in Vijayawada, India. 07:11 My question is, how many days passed before 07:16 Adam and Eve sinned? 07:17 All right. 07:19 The question is how many days 07:20 passed before Adam and Eve sinned? 07:22 That's in the Garden of Eden. Yeah. 07:24 That's new. 07:25 We're getting questions from Israel to India, 07:27 kids all around the world has some great questions. 07:30 So did Adam and Eve get to enjoy the Garden of Eden 07:33 for a long time before the devil came in 07:36 and he spoke through the serpent 07:37 and tricked them? 07:40 Probably not very long because Adam and Eve 07:43 were perfectly healthy, 07:44 God told them after He made them, 07:46 Go have a family and fill the world. 07:49 They had had no children yet. 07:51 So we think the devil came and surprise them pretty soon 07:55 after creation because 07:58 I don't even think a year went by. 08:00 So we don't know, the Bible doesn't say 08:02 the exact time, but it was probably pretty soon 08:05 after creation, 08:06 that the devil caught them off guard 08:07 while they were still young and innocent, you might say. 08:10 All right. 08:12 And I think our final question for this evening. 08:14 Hi. 08:15 I'm Danielle and I'm from Virginia. 08:17 And my question was, 08:18 did God tell Jesus to come and save us 08:21 or did Jesus volunteer? 08:23 Because in the Garden of Gethsemane, 08:25 Jesus asked for the cup to pass over Him. 08:28 Good question. 08:30 Now, how many of you know John 3:16? 08:35 For God so loved the world, He gave His Son, right? 08:40 He gave His only begotten Son. 08:41 So the Father offered His Son, 08:44 but Jesus was a willing sacrifice. 08:47 Just like when Abraham went up the mountain with Isaac, 08:50 and he offered Isaac. 08:52 Isaac was already young man, 18-20 years old. 08:54 Abraham was an old man, he couldn't wrestle Isaac 08:58 to the ground and tie him up. 08:59 Isaac was a willing sacrifice. 09:01 Jesus said, "The Father Himself loves you." 09:04 But I believe the Father and Son agreed together. 09:07 When Jesus was in the garden, He was saying, "Father, 09:10 if there's any other way, let this cup pass." 09:13 I think Jesus prayed that prayer 09:15 partly for the apostles that were listening. 09:18 He asked Peter, James and John to come with Him and pray. 09:21 They heard Him say that. 09:23 He was letting them know there is no other way 09:26 for us to be saved than for Jesus to die. 09:30 It was reminding us that the only thing 09:32 that could redeem us was the sacrifice of Christ. 09:35 So the Father and the Son agreed together on the plan 09:39 to save the human race. 09:42 It talks about the Lamb slain 09:43 from the foundation of the world. 09:45 Good question. All right. Amen. 09:47 Pastor Doug, it's time for our lesson. 09:49 So I'll turn it over to you. All right, very good. 09:50 Well, let's get into our study. 09:51 A very important lesson tonight, it's called 09:54 "The Code of the King." 09:57 Now we had a special memory verse 09:59 that we just read. 10:00 "Blessed are those who do His commandments." 10:03 You wanna be blessed? 10:04 "That they might have the right to the tree of life," 10:06 you wanna eat from that tree? 10:08 "And enter through the gates of the city." 10:10 That's the New Jerusalem, talking about being in heaven. 10:13 Those that do His Commandments. 10:16 You know, in ancient times during the medieval times, 10:20 throughout Europe, 10:21 the knights wore the special armor. 10:24 And in order to be a knight, and to fight as 10:27 one of the special guard of the king, 10:30 they had a very high standard. 10:32 And there was a code, you know, 10:34 sailors on ships like in the US Navy, 10:36 there's the code of the sailor, codes of integrity, 10:39 they promised to make... 10:41 It's not like a mystery code. 10:42 It's a code where you are promising 10:44 to keep certain rules. 10:46 And the knights had codes, they would take care 10:49 of the fatherless and the widow. 10:51 And they would always be sensitive to be honest, 10:54 and they would be people of integrity and truth. 10:57 And so God has a code for His Kingdom as well. 11:01 You read about this, 11:02 it's the Christian code of honor. 11:05 And we're gonna look at what that code is today. 11:07 Getting right into question number one, 11:09 talking about the Christian code of honor, 11:11 better known as the Moral Law or the Ten Commandments. 11:17 Question number one. 11:20 How did the law or the code of the king come to us? 11:23 How did we ever get 11:25 this wonderful statement from God? 11:29 You read in Exodus 31:18. 11:32 "And when He had made an end of speaking with him 11:34 on Mount Sinai, 11:36 He, God gave Moses two tablets of the testimony, 11:41 tablets of stone," what was it written on? 11:44 "Stone written with the finger of God." 11:49 You know, this is probably one of the most important 11:51 treasures in the world is... 11:55 What would be the most valuable artifact in the world 11:58 you could find? 12:00 If somebody could find the Ten Commandments, 12:04 because the Ten Commandments were spoken by God's voice 12:08 and then written by God's finger, 12:11 and placed in a golden box, 12:13 and we'll talk about that in a minute. 12:14 Then they were given to Moses. 12:16 And Moses put them in the golden box 12:18 sometimes called the Ark of the Covenant. 12:21 There's been a lot of people who said, oh, 12:23 if we could only find that missing golden box, 12:26 but you know, 12:27 I know where the Ark of the Covenant is. 12:32 You want me to tell you? Yes. 12:34 You know, the Bible sort of gives us pretty strong clue. 12:37 The map, the clues are in the Bible. 12:41 The ark was in the temple, 12:43 all the way up past the time of King Hezekiah. 12:47 When Jeremiah the Prophet told the people that 12:50 King Nebuchadnezzar was going to destroy Jerusalem 12:53 and the temple, Jeremiah and some of the priests 12:57 that work with Him, they took the ark 12:59 and they hid it in a cave somewhere around Jerusalem. 13:02 It had to be because the city was 13:04 surrounded by the Babylonian army. 13:06 But I've been to Jerusalem and underneath Jerusalem, 13:08 it's like a honeycomb, 13:09 it's like an ant farm full of tunnels. 13:12 And Jeremiah and some of the priests 13:13 must have hid it there 13:15 because when Nebuchadnezzar conquered the city, 13:17 it talks about the different things 13:18 from the temple, 13:20 the ark is never seen from again. 13:22 And so many of the people were killed, 13:24 the people who knew the secret probably died 13:27 and hidden somewhere underneath Jerusalem in a cave. 13:31 I believe the Ark of the Covenant is still there. 13:33 But you know, 13:35 what's even more important than that? 13:37 Is it the golden box? 13:40 Or what's the treasure the rocks in the box? 13:43 The rocks in the box. 13:44 Well, the golden box was just a container. 13:47 It's the rocks in the box. 13:48 You can read, it says, 13:50 "The tables were the work of God. 13:52 How many tables of stone? 13:54 Two. Two. 13:55 And the writing was the writing of God 13:58 engraved on the table. 14:00 So He declared unto you His covenant 14:02 which He commanded you to perform. 14:04 These are the words of God, even Ten Commandments, 14:07 and He wrote them on two tables of stone. 14:10 And Moses brought them down the mountain. 14:12 And he put them in. 14:14 There is a picture of it up there on the screen, 14:16 the Ark of the Covenant. 14:17 And it represents the throne of God 14:19 and it had two angels on top that were looking down 14:22 because the most important thing in the world 14:26 is the Word of God. 14:28 Think about it. What would you rather have? 14:32 A golden egg or a goose that could lay golden eggs? 14:37 Goose that lays golden eggs. 14:38 If you got the goose, you can get as many golden eggs 14:40 as you want. 14:41 You've probably heard the expression, 14:43 "Don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg." 14:45 What would you want? 14:47 Would you want the golden box or would you want the one 14:50 who could make the golden box? 14:52 The one who makes the golden box. 14:54 We need to love the Creator Jesus 14:56 more than the creation. 14:58 Some people say, "Oh, I wish I could find the ark, 14:59 but, you know what? 15:01 I've got the words that are in the ark right here 15:04 and they're in the Bible's that you're getting, 15:05 the Ten Commandments, 15:07 the word spoken by God's own mouth, 15:09 written by His own finger. 15:11 I've got the treasure right here. 15:13 It's the code of the king. 15:16 All right. Number two. 15:18 Why did God give us the Ten Commandments? 15:22 He gave us the Ten Commandments 15:23 because it's to bring us to the Lord. 15:27 It's to guide us. 15:28 Bible says, "The law was our tutor, 15:31 to bring us to Christ." 15:33 And again, does He give us the Ten Commandments 15:35 to make us unhappy or to give us happiness? 15:38 To give us happiness. Happy is He who keeps the law. 15:43 Now the people who are in jail tonight 15:45 because they broke the law, are they very happy? 15:47 No. 15:48 Someone robbed something, 15:50 they get arrested and put in jail. 15:51 They're not very happy. Pastor Doug used to be a thief. 15:55 I've been in jail. It's no fun. 15:58 You don't want to. Disobedience is not fun. 16:01 I've had a lot more fun 16:03 since I learned about God's law. 16:05 And I started to follow His law in my life, 16:08 it kept me out of all kinds of trouble. 16:10 Don't you get in trouble 16:11 when you break your parents rules? 16:13 Yes. 16:14 And maybe they'll give you quiet time 16:16 or you might even get a laying on of hands, 16:20 special ceremony. 16:24 But that's not as bad as breaking God's law. 16:27 If we are not forgiven for breaking God's law, 16:29 it's big trouble. 16:31 He wants to bless us. 16:32 The Bible says, in Proverbs 31:1-2, 16:35 "Keep My commandments for length of days 16:38 and long life and peace, they will." 16:41 I want length of days. I want long life. 16:44 I want peace. 16:45 You can read in Exodus 19:5, 16:47 "Now therefore, if you indeed will obey My voice 16:50 and keep My covenant, 16:52 then you will be a special treasure 16:54 to Me above all the people in the world." 16:58 God wants us to be that treasure for Him. 17:02 So people are thinking, "Well, 17:03 God gave us this law but we can't see Him. 17:09 How do we know He's real? 17:12 Have you ever wondered about that before? 17:15 How can I know whether or not God is real? 17:18 Why can't we see God? 17:20 Well, it tells us in Isaiah 59, 17:23 "Your iniquities have separated you from God. 17:27 And your sins have hidden His face from you." 17:31 Now we got a special guest that's gonna come out. 17:33 You remember in the Garden of Eden... 17:34 Could Adam and Eve talk to God face to face? 17:37 Yes. They could. 17:39 But when did that change? 17:41 In the garden after they spoke with who? 17:45 Satan. 17:46 And the devil who did he appear in? 17:49 Snake. Through a serpent. 17:50 I think we've got a special guest 17:52 that's gonna come out now and join us. 17:54 Come on out. 17:55 We got Seth and we got Kurt 17:57 and they are gonna bring a friend with them. 18:02 This is Monty. Oh, yeah. 18:07 He is a python. 18:09 I think that's his last name. 18:12 Do we have two or three 18:14 brave volunteers? 18:17 Pastor Ross, do you want to come up? 18:21 Pastor Ross is a little nervous about snakes. 18:23 Okay, let me see, we're gonna pick 18:25 a couple of people here. 18:26 If you can come girl right here, 18:28 and you, yup, you can come here, 18:30 let me get over here, young man right here. 18:32 Come on. 18:34 Now, everyone sit down. 18:35 Now we got a lot happening tonight. 18:36 You're gonna get a chance. 18:38 Now why don't you stand behind Kurt and Seth 18:40 and they'll let you. 18:41 Now they tell me that Monty is shedding right now. 18:44 So he's getting far away, aren't we? 18:48 Now sometimes the serpent, he got a bad rap. 18:52 You got to hold him up in the middle, lift him up. 18:54 Come on over here. 18:56 The serpent got a bad rap 19:02 because of stuff like this. 19:04 All right, hang on Monty. 19:08 You wanna help me with him? 19:11 I think he's getting hungry. Yes. 19:13 Yeah, he's actually yawning. Oh. 19:19 I thought I was gonna disappear. 19:21 She's getting ready to tell you how nice snakes were. 19:25 You're holding the safe end. 19:27 Well, that may not be safe too. 19:28 We're not sure yet. 19:31 Well, this is a big snake. But who made snakes? 19:34 God. God did. 19:35 People think because the devil spoke 19:37 through the snake that the devil made the snake. 19:39 Can God speak through a donkey? Yes. 19:42 God made donkeys too. 19:44 So snakes can actually be beautiful creatures. 19:46 They're very hypnotic. 19:47 In the Garden of Eden, we believe that 19:49 snakes even maybe had wings and could fly, 19:52 because after the curse, 19:55 then they had to crawl on the ground. 19:57 But it was after Adam and Eve's encounter with the serpent. 20:01 And they chose not to listen to the Word of God, 20:03 but they listened to the word of the serpent, 20:05 their garments of life disappeared 20:07 and they could no longer talk to God 20:09 face to face. 20:10 Now they had to speak to God through prayer. 20:13 All right, say goodbye to Monty. 20:15 Good bye. Nice meeting you, Monty. 20:17 We're glad. 20:19 How many kids, let's count make sure 20:20 we got all the kids that we came up with here. 20:22 How much does he weigh? About 40 pounds. 20:25 Forty pounds snake. Okay. Protect it. 21:59 I heard a story about some boys, 22:01 and there was a zoo in England years ago. 22:03 And they had a lion cage. 22:05 And outside of the lion cage, they had a hedge. 22:09 They didn't want anyone 22:10 getting close to the lion's cage. 22:12 And so there was a hedge there 22:14 between the people and the lion's cage. 22:16 And there were signs everywhere. 22:17 It says, "Do not cross the hedge. 22:19 Do not cross the hedge." 22:21 But one day, some boys were teasing each other. 22:23 They saw the lion was laying down in the sun. 22:26 He looked like he was taking a nap, 22:27 big, powerful African lion. 22:30 And the boy said, "I dare you to go up 22:32 next to the cage." 22:33 And his friend said, "I'm not afraid, 22:35 that lion's sleeping. 22:36 So you come with me. All right?" 22:39 Two boys together, they went around the hedge 22:41 and they came up to the cage 22:42 and they got a hold of the bars of the lion's cage 22:44 and they were looking in. 22:46 Right then the zookeeper saw what they were doing. 22:49 He said, "Quick boys, get away from that cage." 22:52 And as soon as he yelled, the lion woke up in a flash, 22:56 in just a moment that it took to say that, 22:59 he had jumped all the way from 23:01 where he was sleeping to the edge of the cage 23:04 and stuck his paw through and swiped at the boys 23:08 just they jumped away just in time. 23:11 He nearly caught them. 23:13 You know, some people had been killed 23:14 because they get too close to the cage and lions 23:16 and tigers have actually grabbed people 23:18 and really hurt them. 23:20 The hedge was there to protect them. 23:22 God gives us His law, as a hedge, 23:25 like a guard rail on a dangerous turn 23:28 to keep us from getting in trouble. 23:30 It's not there to take away your happiness. 23:32 It's there to save your life. 23:34 So don't ever think the laws are bad thing. 23:36 The law is a good thing. 23:38 According to the Bible, what is sin? 23:40 And why did we need a law? 23:43 You can read in the Bible. 23:44 Sin is lawlessness. 23:47 Whenever we commit any sin, 23:49 we're breaking the commandments of God. 23:51 Bible says, 23:53 "Sin is the transgression of God's law." 23:55 That transgression means we break it. 23:57 So if you lie, 23:58 that's one of the Ten Commandments. 24:00 "Do not bear false witness." That's a sin. 24:02 If you steal, Bible says, "Thou shalt not steal." 24:05 That's a sin. 24:06 And so whenever we obey God's law, 24:09 we stay away from the things that caused problems. 24:12 The law is wonderful in that 24:14 it shows us what sin is. 24:18 So that it keeps us out of trouble. 24:20 But does the law save us? No. 24:23 All right, I need two volunteers. 24:26 All right, I'm gonna come over to you. 24:28 We'll get a boy and a girl. 24:30 Everybody that volunteers and comes up, 24:32 someone who hasn't been up yet. 24:33 I'm going back here into the deep recesses. 24:37 All right, you can come up here. 24:39 And let's see who else do we got here. 24:41 All right, the redhead girl. 24:45 All right, now I want you to go in the treasure chest, 24:48 one of you is gonna find 24:49 something in there that reflects, 24:50 and when you open the treasure chest, 24:52 make sure you wave at the camera. 24:54 There you go. 24:56 You see something that reflects? 25:00 No, not the gold, the mirror. There you go. 25:03 And now and there should be a red rag. 25:07 Okay, you guys got those two things there? 25:10 All right. 25:11 Now I need you to help me out with something. 25:14 Okay, very good. 25:17 Now, do you notice anything different about me? 25:19 Yeah. Yeah. 25:21 What's your name? Come closer. 25:22 Come here. Come here. 25:24 What's your name? Emily. 25:25 Emily? Yeah. 25:27 And your? El. 25:28 El? Yeah. 25:31 My brother had red hair just like that. 25:34 And I have no hair. It just isn't fair. 25:36 So, okay, so do you see anything wrong 25:41 with my appearance right now? 25:42 Yes. What's wrong? 25:45 You have tape on your head. You see tape on my head? 25:48 Do you see tape on my head? Yes. 25:52 I know you're gonna find this hard to believe, 25:53 but in spite of the fact 25:55 that you all see tape on my head. 25:56 I don't see anything wrong with my head. 25:59 I'm always worried during this part of the program 26:01 that some kid is gonna be looking on TV, 26:03 he'll have just turned the channel 26:04 and he sees me standing like that. 26:05 He's gonna say mom, dad, Pastor Doug, has the mark. 26:11 Now I can't see it. 26:12 What do I need, if I'm gonna see 26:14 what's on my head? 26:16 Mirror. A mirror? 26:17 Oh, look, thank you so much. Exhibit A. 26:19 All right. Right now I feel pretty good. 26:21 We're having a great program. 26:24 But when I look in here I go, oh. 26:29 Now, if I taught the rest of the program like this, 26:31 would you find it distracting? 26:33 Yes. 26:34 Have you ever talked to somebody 26:36 after they came from lunch and why they're talking to you, 26:38 they got a big piece of like, broccoli or something 26:42 that stuck like one whole tooth 26:44 is covered with a piece of parsley, 26:46 and they're talking to you and you're going... 26:48 And you don't wanna embarrass them and say, 26:49 "Man, you got a big old piece of green leaf on your tooth." 26:53 You can't hear anything they're saying 26:54 because all you can see is the big green thing 26:56 on their tooth. 26:58 So it would distract you, 27:00 if I taught the whole class like this. 27:02 Yes. 27:04 So I look in here and I feel fine, 27:05 I go, oh, there's something wrong 27:06 with my appearance. 27:09 So I felt fine until I looked in the mirror. 27:13 So my answer is just throw away the mirror. 27:15 And now I'm gonna be okay. Is that right? 27:17 No. 27:18 Will that solve my problem? No. 27:22 Well, if the mirror showed me that I've got a problem, 27:25 then maybe the answer is I gotta just take the mirror 27:27 and does that help me? 27:30 No. 27:32 You mean, the mirror would show me 27:33 I've got a problem, 27:35 but it's not helping me with my problem... 27:36 Is the mirror supposed to take away my problem? 27:38 No. 27:41 No, the mirror doesn't take it away. 27:42 When you look in the mirror in the morning 27:44 and you wash your face, I'm assuming you do. 27:46 If you see there on your face, 27:48 do you rub your face against the mirror? 27:49 No. 27:51 The mirror is just supposed to show you 27:52 there's a problem or if you brush your teeth 27:54 and then you look 27:55 and see if you left anything behind. 27:57 The mirror is just supposed to show you 27:59 if there's a problem. 28:00 So what do I need if I've got dirt on my face? 28:03 I've gotta wash it. Well, thank you very much. 28:08 So like this here, 28:13 and let's see if this works? 28:18 Oh, I feel so much better. 28:20 Now here's the point. 28:22 This is the law. Look, I can shine it. 28:28 This is the law. 28:30 This is the blood of Jesus. 28:33 The law shows us our sin. 28:35 The blood of Jesus takes away our sin. 28:38 Isn't that what it's supposed to do? 28:40 Thank you very much, girls. I tell you what? 28:41 You get to keep the mirror and you get to keep the rag, 28:43 sell that on eBay, it might be worth something. 28:45 Let's give them a hand. 28:48 All right. 28:51 So when you look in the mirror, the law of God, 28:54 you're gonna go, I've got sin. 28:58 But then you come to Jesus and He forgives your sin, 29:01 the law is not supposed to take away our sin. 29:03 The Bible says, "There's nothing wrong 29:05 with the law. 29:06 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul." 29:11 Matter of fact, Paul says, "I would not have known sin 29:14 except through the law." 29:16 It's the law that shows us that we've got a problem. 29:18 "For I would not have known 29:20 covetousness unless the law said, 29:22 'You shall not covet.'" 29:24 And then we're commanded in the Bible, in James 2:12, 29:28 "So speak and so do as those who will be judged 29:33 by the law of liberty." 29:35 The law is there not to take away our sin, 29:39 it's there to reveal our sin, 29:41 but the devil hates the law. 29:45 The devil even has some people that are saying, oh, 29:47 because Jesus saves us by grace, 29:49 we don't need the law. 29:50 If you've got Jesus' grace, you don't need to obey. 29:53 That's a lie. 29:54 The devil is attacking God's law. 29:56 Paul said, Romans 3:31, "Do we make void the law 30:02 through faith?" 30:03 What's the answer? 30:05 God forbid. We establish law. 30:07 If you have faith and if you have grace, 30:09 you don't take away the law. 30:11 It establishes the law and I need three volunteers. 30:15 So I'll come over here because I think 30:16 I went to the last section last time. 30:19 And young lady there, now, these are ones you haven't. 30:21 And you can help me that's two girls 30:24 and we'll take a boy. 30:25 Have you been up yet? Yes. 30:26 Oh, yeah, you come on up. You come up. 30:28 All right, you guys, three of you come up, 30:29 quick, quick, quick. 30:31 All right. Don't worry. We got more going on here. 30:33 This is gonna be a fun night. Where did I put this? 30:35 All right. 30:39 So what's your name? Dylan. 30:40 Dylan, now your name is law. 30:44 What is your name? Ashley. 30:45 Ashley, sorry, but your name is Sin. 30:49 And what's your name? Sarelyn. 30:51 Sarelyn, your name is Jesus. 30:52 All right, come here, line up here. 30:54 Okay, just like this. All right. 30:58 Let me show you how this works. 31:01 The law shows us our sin, 31:04 sin as a transgression of the law. 31:07 When we're then aware that we have sin, 31:10 we think, "Oh, no, what am I going to do? 31:12 The penalty for sin is death." 31:14 But the only hope is that we go to Jesus, 31:16 and through Jesus, 31:18 we are forgiven of our sins, right? 31:21 So what the devil tries to do. 31:23 You just turn around here. 31:24 The devil says, "If you take away the law, 31:27 well, people don't know about the law, 31:29 then without the law, there is no knowledge of sin, 31:32 the Bible tells us. 31:33 If it wasn't for the law, I would not have known 31:35 about covetousness. 31:37 We just read. 31:38 You don't have the law, you don't have sin. 31:41 And if you don't have sin, 31:43 you don't have salvation through Jesus. 31:46 So the devil by attacking the law, 31:48 he gets rid of salvation 31:50 and Jesus and everything, right? 31:52 But when you have the law, then you're aware of your sin. 31:57 And when you're aware of your sin, 32:00 then you realize you need Jesus for salvation from sin. 32:03 Amen? Amen. 32:04 All right, you guys get to keep those pieces of paper. 32:07 So let's give them a hand. 32:09 Thank you very much for helping. 32:12 So does the Bible say, do we need to keep 32:16 the commandments? 32:17 The last thing that Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes, 32:22 "Fear God and keep His commandments, 32:25 for God will bring every work into judgment, 32:29 with every secret thing. 32:32 Can we hide anything from God? No. 32:35 No, God is aware of everything. 32:37 And, you know, right now, 32:39 people have got cameras all the time 32:41 and someone has an argument, 32:43 someone pulls out their cell phone 32:44 and pretty soon it's on national news. 32:46 And just like every little thing, 32:48 someone's got the camera going. 32:50 Well, you know, the Bible tells us 32:52 that God's angels record everything they see. 32:55 Jesus said, every idle word, you know what an idle word is? 33:00 A thoughtless word, you just talking. 33:02 Every idle word that men will speak, 33:05 they will give an account thereof in the judgment. 33:09 For by your words, you'll be justified 33:11 and by your words, you'll be condemned. 33:13 And Jesus then said, 33:15 "Out of the abundance of the heart, 33:16 the mouth speaks." 33:18 And so, you wanna change heart? 33:20 You want to change words, you need to change heart. 33:23 So, why did God choose the special laws? 33:27 Why do we have the Ten Commandments? 33:29 Bible tells us, Psalms 40:8, "I delight to do your will, 33:33 O my God, Your law is within my heart." 33:37 You know, Jesus said, 33:39 "It's not the ones who say, Lord, 33:40 Lord that are going to heaven." 33:41 He said, "It's those that do 33:44 the will of my Father in heaven." 33:47 God doesn't want us to just be saying, Lord, Lord, 33:49 He wants us to be those 33:50 who are doing the will of the Lord. 33:53 You see, God's law is really telling us about Jesus. 33:59 It tells us about the character of God. 34:02 The character of God is reflected in His law. 34:05 For example, notice this. 34:06 The Bible says in Luke 18, that "God is good." 34:10 Well, the Bible also says in Romans 7:12, 34:13 "The law is good." 34:15 The Bible says in Isaiah 5:16, "God is holy." 34:18 It also says, "The law is holy." 34:21 The Bible says, that "God is just, 34:23 His law is just, 34:24 God is perfect, His law is perfect." 34:26 You got the scriptures on the screen, 34:28 and I think they're in your lesson. 34:30 Bible says, that "God is righteous, He is truth, 34:34 He is spiritual, 34:35 He's unchangeable, He's eternal." 34:37 So when people are attacking the law of God, 34:39 they're really attacking God. 34:42 Because God put down what His will for us is. 34:45 The will of God is perfectly expressed. 34:47 The code of the king is in the law of God. 34:50 You know, how many laws there are in the US government? 34:53 Millions. If you take all the... 34:57 And, you know, why there are so many laws? 35:00 The more lawless people are, 35:02 the more laws you need to control them. 35:06 Do you know there's a law that says, 35:08 "You are not allowed to put a skunk 35:10 in your boss's desk?" 35:13 I think it's in Minnesota, I forget. 35:16 Why do you think they made that law? 35:18 Because somebody put a skunk in their boss's desk. 35:22 Do you know there's one town that says, 35:23 "You cannot carry an ice cream cone 35:26 in your pocket?" 35:27 Because someone put an ice cream cone 35:29 in their pocket and then sat on the bus 35:31 and made a big mess. 35:33 Every crazy law you hear about is because 35:35 somebody broke the law. 35:37 But God was able to fit His... 35:40 You know, you're not allowed to detonate a nuclear bomb 35:43 in Chico, California? 35:46 I don't know what someone did that made that a law. 35:50 But all the laws of God, 35:52 He was able to get in about 300 words 35:56 that helps us understand His perfect will. 35:59 The Bible says, "Therefore the law is holy, 36:03 and the commandment is holy and just and good." 36:06 God is just and holy and good. Now here's an important point. 36:11 Does God ever change? 36:13 Do His commandments ever change? 36:17 What does the Bible say? 36:19 God says in Malachi 3:6, "For I am the Lord," what? 36:24 "I do not change." 36:28 Again, Isaiah 40:8, "The grass withers, 36:32 the flower fades, but the word of our God stands," 36:35 for how long? 36:36 "Forever." 36:38 Luke 21:33, Jesus said, 36:40 "Heaven and earth will pass away, 36:43 but My word will not pass away." 36:45 All of His precepts... 36:46 Psalm 111:7-8, "All of His precepts are sure. 36:50 They stand fast forever and ever." 36:53 Now, raise your hands if you have not been chosen. 36:56 If you've been honest, hey, don't bear false witness. 36:58 Be honest. 37:00 If you've not done anything yet, 37:01 you can raise your hands. 37:03 All right. 37:04 You're up front here, that'd be good. 37:05 That's a one, two, and we'll have you come up. 37:09 Okay, come on. Come on up here. 37:11 Look in the chest here. 37:14 And I want you to... 37:17 Let me see, how we're gonna do this. 37:20 Find something pink in there. 37:27 Oh, wait, wait, wait, 37:29 I'm getting ahead of myself here. 37:30 Have you got something pink in there? 37:33 All right. Now, this is... 37:37 You know, what kind of board this is? 37:39 Marker board. Marker board. 37:41 What's your name? Kinsey. 37:42 Kinsey, I want you to take the pen here, 37:44 take the top off. 37:46 Can you know how to spell sin? 37:47 No. 37:49 Sin, S-I-N. 37:54 Okay, now grab that rag down there. 37:58 What's your name? Melody. 37:59 Melody, I want you to erase that. 38:01 You can give that to Melody. 38:05 It's not going off. 38:07 Let's some spit on it or something here? 38:09 No, no, I'm kidding here. 38:10 You just press harder. Come on. 38:12 Press, press, press, is it coming off? 38:14 Yeah. 38:16 Okay, so that erases, doesn't it? 38:18 Okay, I want you try 38:20 and erase something else for me. 38:22 Let's open that little bag package 38:24 that you got there 38:25 and what do you got in there? 38:27 Three, what? Three erasers? 38:28 I'll take that here. 38:30 Open those up. I got it started for you. 38:34 Now we've got something that's different from 38:36 an erasing a board here. 38:38 This is a piece of stone that is engraved. 38:43 You see, they have the scripture on it. 38:45 It says, "As for me and my house, 38:46 we will serve the Lord," Joshua 24:15. 38:50 All right, girls, 38:51 I'd like you to erase that for me. 38:53 And the boy, you come over here. 38:55 I wanna protect the floor. 38:56 You got three erasers here. 38:57 Let's see how that works for you. 39:01 Go ahead, come on. 39:03 Participate, you got to be able to. 39:05 No, it's never gonna work. 39:06 Why won't that work? 39:09 It's the erasers for pencils to erase. 39:11 What kind of a eraser do you need? 39:13 You would need a grinder or something like that. 39:16 When someone writes something in stone, 39:18 is it meant to be erased? 39:20 No. 39:21 How long is it supposed to last? 39:23 Forever. 39:24 God wrote the Ten Commandments on what? 39:27 Erasable marker or on stone? Stone. 39:31 Did He use a pencil? No. 39:33 Or did He use His own hand? Yes. 39:36 How long is it supposed to last? 39:37 Forever. Forever. 39:39 And, you know, where He wants to write His word? 39:42 In our hearts. In our hearts. 39:43 He wants to write in our hearts. 39:45 Thank you, very much. You guys, I appreciate it. 39:46 Let's give them a hand. 39:48 You can keep your erasers. 39:52 You know, the most important decision 39:53 a young person can make 39:54 is that decision to follow Jesus 39:57 and begin that amazing adventure to eternity. 40:00 That's why we're so excited to tell you about 40:01 the new Amazing Adventure programs that are available. 40:05 During these nearly 10 hours 40:06 of exciting high definition programs, 40:09 the young people will do science experiments, 40:11 learn about history, nature, encounter some wild animals, 40:14 and most of all, they'll learn about Jesus 40:17 from the Word of God. 40:18 There's a beautifully illustrated 40:19 Bible Study Guide to go along with 40:21 each of the video presentations. 40:24 These beautiful illustrated study guides 40:26 are full of pictures, and puzzles, and Bible stories. 40:29 They'll lead your kids through 40:30 an incredible journey with Jesus. 40:32 And for me, the most exciting thing 40:34 is this new Amazing Adventure series goes along 40:36 with the Amazing Facts Adventure Bible. 40:39 The Bible, the study guides, the DVDs are all designed 40:42 to lead your young person 40:44 on a Journey for Life with Jesus. 40:46 Call the number on your screen or contact us 40:49 at afbookstore.com. 40:52 Some people think after Jesus died on the cross, 40:54 we don't need to keep the commandments anymore. 40:56 There are actually pastors that say that, 40:59 that just makes me shutter because that is what 41:02 you call a doctrine of devils. 41:04 When a pastor tells people... 41:06 I've got it on videotape, pastors telling people, 41:09 you don't have to keep the Ten Commandments anymore. 41:13 That's diabolical. 41:16 Of course, you need to keep the Ten Commandments. 41:19 It's spoken by God. 41:21 Jesus said, "Do not think I came to destroy 41:24 the law and the prophets. 41:25 I did not come to destroy but to fulfill." 41:28 He said, "It will be easier for heaven and earth 41:30 to pass away than for one jot or tittle." 41:33 A jot was like a Hebrew, you know, 41:35 like your daughter tittle like the crossing of tea. 41:38 The smallest marks, not even the smallest mark 41:41 will pass from the law. 41:44 Now, He said, "Heaven and earth will have to pass away," 41:46 you know, why? 41:49 God has a copy of His law in heaven. 41:53 You read in Revelation, "And the temple of God 41:55 was open in heaven, 41:57 and the Ark of His Covenant was seen in His temple." 42:02 Unless you can get to heaven and take away God's law, 42:04 you can't change His law. 42:06 Wouldn't that be neat if someone discovered 42:07 the Ark of the Covenant before Jesus come back? 42:10 That would be the most valuable artifact in the world. 42:16 Karen and I were in Paris, 42:18 Mrs. Batchelor and I were earlier this year. 42:21 And we saw the Mona Lisa. 42:25 We could barely get in the room. 42:27 It was a huge room. 42:29 There were hundreds of people in there 42:30 wanting to see this painting by Leonardo da Vinci 42:33 little bitty painting. 42:34 You know, why it became so famous? 42:35 Because it was stolen years ago and recovered, 42:38 and that made it very valuable. 42:41 But there's nothing that would be 42:42 more valuable than to have words 42:44 written not by Leonardo or Michelangelo, 42:47 but the words written by God. 42:49 You can have the words written by God. 42:52 It's in your Bible. 42:54 Jesus said, "If you love Me," we're to keep His commandments. 42:59 "You will abide in My love, as I have kept 43:02 My Father's Commandments and abide in His love." 43:05 Do you love the Lord? 43:07 He died to save you from your sins 43:09 because He loves you so much. 43:10 He says, "Now if you love Me, obey My law." 43:14 Bible tells us, "Christ also suffered for us, 43:18 leaving us an example 43:20 that we should follow in His steps, 43:22 who committed no sin." 43:24 Did Jesus ever sin? No. 43:26 Did He ever break His Father's Commandments? 43:28 No. 43:29 When He gives us His Spirit, 43:31 is it possible for us to do that? 43:34 It is. 43:35 It says, "He committed no sin, 43:37 nor was there any deceit found in His mouth." 43:40 Now how many of you know the Ten Commandments? 43:42 Can any of you say them by heart? 43:44 You know, all 10? 43:46 Oh, look at that, not so many hands now. 43:50 I think, I could do all Ten commandments. 43:51 Do you know that if you lived during the time of Jesus, 43:55 every Jewish boy could tell you the Ten Commandments. 43:58 Many of them can recite the whole Book 44:01 of Deuteronomy from memory. 44:03 I had a young man came to our church 44:05 in Sacramento. 44:06 And he stood up on the stage. 44:08 His father says, "He's memorized 44:09 the whole Book of Revelation." 44:11 I said, "Really?" He said, "Yeah, test him." 44:14 So we brought him up during our service. 44:16 And I said, "Okay, I know revelation pretty good, 44:18 but I don't have the whole thing memorized." 44:20 And I said, "Okay, Revelation Chapter 5." 44:23 And he stood there, he thought for a moment. 44:25 And then he began to recite from the first verse 44:27 going through the whole chapter. 44:29 He had memorized it all. 44:31 Thy word I've hidden in my heart 44:34 that I might not sin. 44:35 The Word of God will guide you through your life, 44:38 and it'll keep you out of a lot of trouble. 44:41 Now here's an abbreviated version 44:44 of the Ten Commandments. 44:46 First four commandments, 44:48 "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." 44:51 Second Commandment, 44:52 "You're not to make any graven images." 44:54 Now there's more to it here. This is just a summary. 44:56 Third Commandment, 44:57 "You shall not take the name of the Lord 44:59 you got in vain for the Lord will not hold him guiltless 45:01 to take His name in vain." 45:02 Fourth Commandment, 45:04 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. 45:06 Sixth days you should labor and do all your work, 45:07 but the seventh day 45:08 is a Sabbath of the Lord your God." 45:11 Fifth Commandment, 45:12 now these are the easy ones to remember. 45:14 "Honor your father and your mother, 45:16 that your days may be long upon the land 45:18 which the Lord thy God gives you. 45:20 Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. 45:24 Thou shalt not steal. 45:25 Thou shalt not bear false witness 45:27 against your neighbor." 45:28 And then it says, "Thou shalt not covet." 45:30 And it goes into the things you're not supposed to covet. 45:32 So here you have the summary of the Ten Commandments. 45:35 Why haven't you memorize that? 45:38 I bet some of you have memorized 45:39 comic books and TV programs. 45:41 Some of you have memorized 45:43 all the secret codes on video games. 45:46 People memorize all kinds of things. 45:48 You could do it, you got good minds. 45:51 You should memorize the law of God. 45:53 It'll keep you out of all kinds of trouble. 45:56 So... I need one person here. 46:01 Okay. 46:03 Now I think, if I'm not mistaken, 46:04 we had some twins, 46:06 your sister came up and you didn't come up, right? 46:07 So you can come on. Yeah, I'll let you come up. 46:09 I just need one person here. Okay. 46:13 And what was your name? Eden. 46:15 Eden? Yeah. All right. 46:16 You want to stand right here. 46:18 Okay, now, you got two arms, right? 46:21 Flex your muscle here 46:22 for a second right here, two arms. 46:23 Flex my muscles. All right. 46:25 This would be like the first four commandments, 46:29 really deal with love for God. 46:32 And then the last six commandments, 46:33 unfortunately, 46:35 she's got five fingers on this hand. 46:36 And the last six commandments 46:38 deal with love for your fellowman. 46:41 You got two arms. 46:42 What are the two great commandments? 46:44 Love the Lord with all your heart. 46:47 You got love for God. 46:49 And love your neighbor as yourself. 46:51 On those two arms, you got Ten Commandments. 46:54 And in the middle, you got one head, 46:57 I got a brain that tells that 10 fingers what to do, 47:00 can you just wiggle your fingers? 47:02 See how easy that is. 47:03 The brain is telling the fingers what to do. 47:05 In the same way God is love. 47:08 And the love of God is expressed 47:10 in the first commandments to God, 47:13 and the love for your fellowman and the other commandments 47:15 to your fellowman. 47:16 Thank you very much. Let's give her a hand. 47:19 You're so bashful. 47:23 Jesus said, Matthew 19:17, 47:27 "But if you would enter into life," do what? 47:31 "Keep the Commandments." 47:32 Some people say, "Well, it's not that important 47:35 to keep the Commandments. 47:37 Nobody can really keep the Commandments." 47:39 Jesus said, "If you would enter into life," do what? 47:42 No, I'm not talking about being perfect, 47:45 because some people think, oh, perfectionism, 47:47 I might feel like I'm never gonna be perfect. 47:49 I tell you what, friends, I used to smoke, 47:50 God help me quit smoking, He can help you. 47:54 I used to steal, I don't steal. 47:56 I used to curse, I don't curse. 47:57 God can change your behavior. 48:00 I used to lie, I used to do all kinds of things 48:03 and God has changed me and given me a new heart. 48:06 So don't believe someone who says, "Oh, 48:08 nobody can keep the Commandments." 48:10 We can with God's Spirit, how much is possible? 48:14 All things are possible. 48:15 The Bible says, "This is how we show the love of God. 48:18 Hereby we know that we know Him, 48:21 if we keep His Commandments." 48:23 He goes on. 48:25 Notice what John says here, 1 John 2:3-4, 48:28 "If anyone says I know Him 48:29 and he keeps not His commandments, 48:32 his truth is not in Him." 48:34 Let me tell you an interesting little story. 48:36 They've got these shrimp that swim out in the ocean. 48:41 And because shrimp get caught in the currents 48:43 and the waves they get all whipped upside down 48:46 all different directions and but the shrimp 48:48 always seem to know which way is up even 48:51 when they're getting spun around underwater. 48:53 They can quickly right themselves, 48:54 they know which way is up, do you know why? 48:58 Because a lot of these shrimp 48:59 have a little crack in their heads, 49:02 and in that crack, they pick up a piece of sand 49:05 with their little claws 49:07 and they push it down in the crack 49:08 and that little piece of sand to them it's a weight. 49:12 They call it a status stone. 49:15 It gives them equilibrium, it gives them balance 49:18 and so even though the waves are washing them all over, 49:20 as long as they've got a status stone on them, 49:21 they know which end is up. 49:24 But someone did a cool experiment. 49:29 They got a bunch of these shrimp 49:31 they put them in a big aquarium and instead of having sand 49:34 in the bottom of the aquarium, 49:36 they put little pieces of iron filings, 49:39 little sand was all made of iron. 49:42 And so the shrimp as they always do, 49:44 whenever they shed their skin, they go get a new piece of sand 49:47 and they stick it in the crack in their head. 49:49 But this time the sand was iron. 49:51 So they put the iron, now, 49:53 you know, something about iron is magnetic. 49:55 So they put the iron in their heads 49:57 and everything was fine. 49:59 But then the scientist took a big long electromagnetic bar 50:04 and he put it above... 50:07 you see, normally gravity's below, 50:09 but this time he put it above the aquarium 50:11 and he flipped on the switch. 50:13 And you know what happened? 50:15 All those shrimp they were swimming around 50:16 talking each other having a good time, 50:18 all suddenly he flipped that switch. 50:20 They went, and they all started swimming upside down. 50:25 And they continue to swim upside down. 50:27 Then the scientists got an idea. 50:28 He said, "I'm gonna do a social experiment." 50:31 He took a shrimp from another cage 50:33 that had a real piece of sand in his head. 50:36 And he dropped him down in the aquarium. 50:40 That shrimp dropped down, and he looked around, 50:43 he thought, what in the world is wrong with everybody? 50:46 They're all swimming upside down. 50:49 And, you know, 50:51 what the other shrimp were saying? 50:53 Who in the world is this fellow think he is, 50:55 there's something wrong with him. 50:57 He's swimming upside down. 50:59 Who was really swimming upside down? 51:02 The shrimp with the iron in their hands, 51:04 they did not have the right status stone, 51:06 and so they thought that he was crazy, 51:08 and in reality, the majority was crazy. 51:12 When you look in the world around you today, 51:15 there's a lot of people they're acting 51:17 and doing a lot of crazy things. 51:18 You know why? 51:20 Because they don't have the law of God in their heads. 51:24 If you have the law of God in your head, 51:25 your friends might think, 51:27 oh, something's wrong with them. 51:28 They don't wanna use drugs. They don't wanna curse. 51:31 They don't wanna steal. 51:32 They don't wanna, you know, do some of the bad things, 51:36 or watch programs, they shouldn't be watching. 51:39 And they think, what's wrong with him? 51:41 You're not the one swimming upside down. 51:44 The devil has tricked 51:45 a lot of young people in the world 51:47 and they're all thinking that the way to act 51:49 is to act crazy and to swim upside down. 51:51 But God says, "If you have My law in your heart, 51:53 you'll know what right side up is, 51:55 you'll know what the truth is." 51:57 So number eight, how can I keep 52:01 the Ten Commandments? 52:03 Matthew 19:26, what did we read? 52:07 "With God," how much? "All things are possible." 52:12 And it's so important that we understand this 52:14 because what is the penalty for sin? 52:16 Death. 52:17 "The wages for sin is death, but the gift of God," 52:22 what's the rest of that? 52:24 "Is eternal life." 52:26 Bible tells us, you'll hear a voice behind you saying, 52:29 "This is the way walk in it. 52:30 The word becomes a guide 52:32 that helps you in all of your life." 52:35 John 5:3, "This is the love of God, 52:39 that we keep His Commandments. 52:41 Therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." 52:46 The law of God is all about the Word of God. 52:49 Jesus is called the Word. The law was written on rock. 52:53 Jesus is the Rock of Ages. 52:56 It was a stone that David used to kill Goliath. 52:59 It's the Word of God, 53:01 the law of God brings down the enemy. 53:03 It's something to be loved. 53:05 Jesus said, "You should love the Lord 53:06 with all of your heart, 53:08 with all of your soul, with all of your mind. 53:10 This is the first and the great commandment. 53:13 And the second is like it, 53:14 you should love your neighbor as yourself." 53:17 Now we're not saved by keeping the law, how are we saved? 53:21 We are saved by the grace of God, 53:23 but the grace of God gives us power to obey. 53:26 It was the grace of God 53:28 that helped me to stop drinking. 53:29 Grace of God helped me stop using drugs 53:31 and it helped me stop smoking and stealing. 53:34 And God's grace can help you be a new creature 53:37 and to walk with the Lord. 53:39 "It's not of works, it is a gift of God, 53:42 lest any man should boast." 53:45 Now years ago, there is a family 53:47 that was traveling across the plains in Kansas, 53:52 there's a wagon train or hundreds of people 53:55 on the wagon train. 53:57 There's nothing but grass for miles and miles, 53:59 this is back in the days of the buffalo. 54:02 And the wagon master saw smoke on horizon and people... 54:05 First they thought it was dust and he said, "No," 54:07 it was a thing that they were the most afraid of 54:10 when they were traveling the prairie. 54:12 It was lightning had struck and it was a grass fire. 54:16 And the wind was blowing the fire 54:19 right towards the wagon train much faster than 54:22 they could ever outrun it. 54:23 They were miles and miles from the river. 54:27 So you know what the wagon master did? 54:29 He said, "Come with me." 54:31 They rode away from the fire, but they could see 54:33 it was catching up with them, he said, 54:35 "Gathered together in a circle." 54:36 They all gathered. 54:37 He took out a flint and made some fire 54:40 and he started a fire on the other side 54:43 of the wagon train. 54:44 No, what are you doing? We're gonna die. 54:46 We'll be surrounded. He said trust me. 54:48 He started a fire on the other side, 54:50 the fire then began, the wind continue to blow 54:52 that fire away from them. 54:55 And grass doesn't burn very long, 54:56 just five minutes and it's down turns to ash. 55:01 And then just before the fire got to them, he says, 55:03 "Now let's move on the place that is already burnt. 55:07 And as they move the wagon train 55:08 over on to this place 55:10 where the grass is already burnt, 55:11 one little boy said, 55:12 "Mommy, Daddy, are we gonna burn to death?" 55:15 And they said, "No, son, you don't need to worry now, 55:18 we are standing where the fire already burned." 55:22 What is the penalty for sin? 55:24 Death. Death. 55:26 How many of us have sinned? All. 55:29 All of us have sinned. Why aren't we dead? 55:34 Because Jesus took the penalty, 55:38 Jesus suffered for your sins and mines. 55:40 Everything you've ever done wrong, 55:41 when they put the nails in His hands, 55:44 when they whipped Him, when they spit on Him. 55:47 He was taking the punishment 55:49 and the shame for all of the sins 55:51 of all the world because He loves us. 55:53 So when we come to Christ, and we say, "Jesus, 55:55 please forgive me." 55:57 We are standing where the fire already burned. 56:00 The law will not judge us 56:02 if we are now standing with Christ 56:05 because the wrath of God, the penalty for sin, 56:07 the judgment fell upon Him for our sins. 56:11 So here's the important question. 56:14 Do you want to be like Jesus? 56:18 How many of you want to be like Jesus? 56:19 Amen. 56:21 Bible promises, "Blessed are those 56:24 who do His Commandments, 56:26 that they might have a right to the tree of life, 56:28 and enter through the gates of the city." 56:30 And, of course, I wanna close with this verse. 56:32 "If you love me, keep My Commandments." 56:35 He loves you so much. 56:36 Do you think you would want to love Him back? 56:38 You choose to love Him. 56:40 It's not a warm pink feeling inside. 56:42 You make up your mind and say, "Jesus, 56:44 I believe You died for my sins. 56:46 If You are the only one in the world who ever lived, 56:48 He died for your sins, 56:50 and because He died for your sins, 56:53 then you can have eternal life, 56:54 but you need to pray and ask Him to be your. 57:29 You know, the most important decision 57:31 a young person can make 57:32 is that decision to follow Jesus 57:35 and begin that amazing adventure to eternity. 57:37 That's why we're so excited to tell you about 57:39 the new Amazing Adventure programs that are available. 57:43 During these nearly 10 hours 57:44 of exciting high definition programs, 57:47 the young people will do science experiments, 57:49 learn about history, nature, encounter some wild animals, 57:52 and most of all, they'll learn about 57:54 Jesus from the Word of God. 57:56 There's a beautifully illustrated 57:57 Bible Study Guide to go along with 58:00 each of the video presentations. 58:02 These beautiful illustrated study guides 58:04 are full of pictures, and puzzles, and Bible stories. 58:07 They'll lead your kids through an incredible journey 58:09 with Jesus. 58:10 And for me, the most exciting thing 58:12 is this new Amazing Adventure series goes along 58:14 with the Amazing Facts Adventure Bible. 58:17 The Bible, the study guides, the DVDs are all designed 58:20 to lead your young person on a Journey 58:23 for Life with Jesus. 58:24 Call the number on your screen or contact us 58:27 at afbookstore.com. |
