00:06 #S054 - This Is Just The Beginning (Part 2)
00:19 Welcome to the Breath of Life 00:22 Television Ministry Broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell. 00:25 In today's episode. 00:27 Pastor Snell will continue with part two 00:31 of the powerful message “This is just the Beginning” 00:35 Now let's go deeper into the Word of God. 00:40 In other words, how many of us are thankful 00:43 that there are certain crisis that never showed up 00:48 because somebody was talking to Jesus? 00:51 Before you even recognized they had a need? 00:55 In other words, I don't usually like for people 00:57 to talk about me behind my back, 01:00 but I guess it depends on who you're talking to. 01:04 If you're talking to Jesus about me behind my back, 01:08 then you actually become my best friend. 01:11 And is there anybody thankful that you had a praying grandma, 01:15 a praying mama, a praying daddy 01:19 that was talking to Jesus behind your back? 01:22 In other words, I need you to know 01:24 there were weapons 01:25 that were formed that never got to prosper 01:29 because somebody was talking the job 01:32 to Jesus on your behalf 01:37 and say, I love in France. 01:38 Because Mary, what she did, what she stood in the gap, 01:42 she interceded on behalf of those 01:45 that did not even recognize that was a need. 01:48 And it was her petitions 01:51 for these young people that bless their household. 01:54 When I want to say quickly 01:55 to some of our seniors 01:56 is to make sure that no matter how it looks, 01:59 no matter how they act up, never give up your petition 02:02 for your children or your grandchildren. 02:06 I need you to know friends of mine, 02:08 that even if you fall asleep before the prayers, answer 02:14 that the prayer doesn't get canceled 02:18 when your breath is taken away because God has a way 02:22 of answering prayers even after you go to the grave. 02:26 Why do you think? Sorry. Jacob. 02:29 God bless. 02:31 It wasn't because Jacob deserved it, 02:34 but because God made a covenant with his grand daddy 02:38 that God 02:39 continue to bless Jacob and his descendants. 02:43 You are hearing me today, friends. 02:45 And so this story 02:47 and a lot of Malcolm, it kind of it kind of trips me out 02:50 because I'm trying to figure out Steve, like, why would Jesus 02:54 start his miracle ministry at a wedding? 02:59 Like, in my mind when I look at this, that 03:01 there is a real, real sense of urgency here. 03:04 If Jesus does no miracle, guess what, man? 03:07 Nobody dies. 03:08 Nobody strokes out. 03:10 Nobody begins to code. 03:12 I'm beginning to wonder, like, 03:13 why is it, man, that Jesus feels so impressed 03:18 to do his first miracle by turning water into wine? 03:23 But I need you to know what the miracle is 03:25 and what it is not. 03:27 The miracle is not that he turned water into wine. 03:31 I need you to know what the disaster is. 03:33 You see, I understand that a wedding was a time 03:37 where your social status would be placed on display. 03:40 So that. Guess what? 03:41 If no one doubts Jesus does nothing. 03:44 No one dies. 03:44 No one is in pain. 03:46 No one suffers physical ailment. 03:49 The only thing that suffers is their reputation. 03:53 Okay, somebody out and get it. 03:55 So his first miracle 03:58 was to save somebody's reputation. 04:01 Oh, God. 04:03 His first miracle was keeping their lack 04:06 from being exposed while still acting brand new. 04:10 How many of us know it ain't no miracle for him 04:12 to turn water into wine because water and created 04:15 things are don't always obey the command of their creator. 04:20 But the greatest miracle is when God is able 04:22 to cover the reputation of his children. 04:26 Oh, y'all acting brand new. 04:27 Anybody thankful today 04:30 that God kept your reputation? 04:35 That God 04:36 kept your reputation intact? 04:40 Somebody out to praise him for the stuff that never came out. 04:45 For the things that never got exposed, 04:48 for the things that never hit Facebook. 04:51 Some of us have good character. 04:54 Some just have a good reputation 04:56 because God covered it up. 05:00 Are you hearing the word today, friends? 05:02 And see, God just kept your reputation 05:06 until your character could catch up to it. 05:12 Are y'all hear me today? 05:15 So, so real quick. 05:16 So something in Jesus message comes to Jesus 05:20 and it's like, Man Jesus, they running out of mine. 05:22 I need you to show up. I need you to do something. 05:24 And it's crazy 05:25 because Jesus, the ancestor, her woman, which was 05:30 a term of endearment or respect that will be paid at that time, 05:33 he says This ain't got nothing to do with me. 05:37 He says, I don't even know why you bringing this matter to me. 05:40 He says, My time is not yet come. 05:44 Now notice what Mary then turns around and does. 05:47 She turns around and says to the servants, Do 05:49 whatever he asks you to do. 05:53 Now I'm trippin because the way she reacts 05:57 is not congruent with the answer he gave. 06:00 In other words, 06:01 I have to read it three or four times, 06:02 and maybe there's a clause that I missed out. 06:05 I don't understand 06:06 why she's telling the servants to stand in a phase of obedience 06:10 when Jesus said, I ain't got nothing to do with this. 06:13 But see, one of the reasons she acted in the way 06:16 she did, where she was convinced by his consistency. 06:21 Let me share with 06:22 you real quick desire of a just page 68. 06:26 She talks about how Jesus as a child talks about he 06:29 how he had willing hands that were ever ready to serve. 06:35 And he never left a situation like he found it. 06:39 Okay, you out and get it. 06:41 In other words, there was a consistency 06:44 about Christ that let her know 06:48 he would never leave a situation 06:51 the way he found it. 06:54 Okay. 06:55 It was her history with him 06:58 that anchored her in the moment of great lack. 07:02 So in other words, even as Jesus, as a child 07:06 from a babe up to the age of about 30, whenever Jesus saw 07:09 a sparrow with a broken wing, he didn't just walk by. 07:13 He picked it up and he helped it. 07:16 When Jesus saw you carrying a heavy burden down the road, 07:20 he didn't just go on about his business, 07:21 but he put his shoulder up under the burden 07:25 and help you get where he is that you needed to go. 07:27 When Jesus was a child 07:28 and saw an elderly person 07:30 carrying something 07:31 heavy across the street, he would stop 07:33 whatever it was that he was doing 07:35 and he would help you get that burden across the street. 07:39 In other words, she noticed something about her 07:40 baby boy is that he was so consistent in his help. 07:45 He was so consistent in helping others. 07:47 He never left a situation like he found it. 07:50 And it was his consistency 07:52 that gave her courage 07:54 to know that he would act, even in the light of his response. 07:59 I'm still not here yet. 08:00 How many of us know 08:01 that Christ has been consistent in your life? 08:05 Oh, God. 08:06 In other words, he hadn't just come through 08:08 seven out of ten times. 08:10 But for me, he's come through ten times out of ten times, 08:15 and he didn't always come when I want it. 08:17 But he's always there right on 08:20 time. 08:23 And see, friends of mine, one of the things I need, 08:25 you know, 08:26 one of the things that will anchor you in 08:27 the present 08:28 is if you keep a record of how God has blessed you in the past. 08:32 You see, one of the reasons we don't have any faith for 08:34 this moment is because we've got spiritual amnesia. 08:39 We have forgetfulness about the blessings and miracles of God. 08:44 And as some of you heard me say in it, crazy how we 08:46 remember our curses 08:49 more than we remember our blessings. 08:52 Somebody does something wrong to you. 08:53 You remember it for 50 years. 08:56 God pays the bill. 08:57 You act like he ain't never done nothing in your life before. 09:01 And what I'm saying to 09:02 somebody today is that if you look at the consistency of God 09:06 and the faithfulness of God, 09:07 that if you look back on your history, 09:09 you will have strength to face a difficult destiny. 09:13 This man I remember one time I was on a flight 09:16 and on this particular flight, Malcolm, it 09:18 began to get a little turbulent. 09:19 We began to have drops in the flight. 09:21 And I'll be honest with you, I'm 09:22 not one of those folk that's a nervous flier. 09:24 I don't even really get scared because of turbulence. 09:27 But on this day, it was dropping hard, man. 09:28 The little luggage racks were starting to come open. 09:31 And one of the things I do 09:32 when I see turbulence that bad is 09:33 I just look at the flight attendants to see how they move. 09:36 And in that situation. 09:37 And so I remember this particular day, 09:39 I was sitting near the exit row and the flight attendant 09:41 was sitting right across from me. 09:43 And it's funny, because we're in this storm 09:44 that drops and the plane is shifting and moving 09:48 and the flight attendant 09:49 right in front of me, she don't even look up. 09:50 She's playing games on her phone. 09:53 She's playing with her hair. 09:54 She's acting like nothing and going on. 09:57 And so when we get down to the floor, Dave, 09:59 I ask her the question. 10:00 I say, I know you got to play it cool 10:03 for the customers on the flight, but when it gets this bad, 10:05 you've got to get a little bit nervous, don't you? 10:08 As she said, without a hit, she says, I would get a little 10:11 nervous normally. 10:12 But she says, I've been flying with this one 10:14 pilot so long, and because I've seen him 10:19 bring gas through worse, I don't get nervous and stones. 10:24 Has anybody 10:25 been flying with Jesus so long 10:30 that you don't 10:31 get nervous in the storm? 10:35 Because you've seen him 10:37 bring you through worse? 10:40 I hear me today, friends. 10:45 So. So. 10:46 So Jesus tells them, they say, feel the water. 10:50 But the water pops up to the brim. 10:54 And notice that the Bible says that they feel 10:57 the water pots all the way up to the top. 10:58 Anthony I see. 10:59 One of the things that teaches us is that man partial obedience 11:05 will lead to partial blessings. 11:09 Are you going to cancel me? In a minute, 11:12 but I'm going to stand here on the strength of the Lord. 11:15 So if they only feel the parts, 11:18 a third of the way up, 11:21 they only get a third of the one. 11:25 If they only for the half of the way up, 11:28 they only get half of the why. 11:30 But guess what? 11:31 Because they fill it all the way up. 11:35 They got one that's overflowing from the vats 11:39 because they operate in obedience to what has been said. 11:44 I see. 11:45 What I need somebody to understand about obedience 11:48 is that you cannot have an obedience deficit 11:51 and operate in spiritual overflow. 11:58 The problem is we have used grace as a reason 12:01 to not obey what it is that God has told us to do 12:05 and say, I need us to understand this fundamental truth. 12:08 The reason 12:09 the issue is that 12:10 how many of us realize 12:11 certain covenant blessings that God has made 12:15 are certain covenant promises that He's made. 12:16 They are conditional. 12:19 They are conditioned upon you operating in obedience 12:21 with the covenant that God has made. 12:23 And so what I'm saying to us is that if we're not going 12:26 to obey the condition, why are you running around here 12:31 trying to claim the promise? 12:35 Oh, all quiet now. 12:39 Doesn't the words say, bring ye all the time? 12:45 And we are going to look at because 12:48 no, it doesn't say Bring stop. 12:50 No, don't look at your phone. 12:52 It doesn't say bring most. 12:55 It says bring you all the time into the storehouse. 13:00 And he says, if you do it, I open up the windows of heaven 13:04 and pour out such a blessing 13:07 that you don't have room enough to receive it. 13:10 He has shown us in his word, how we are to care for our bodies 13:15 if we want to experience maximum health. 13:17 But I cannot experience it if I want to abandon 13:21 the principles of Oh, say amen to the pastor, the church. 13:25 Amen. 13:26 The word says give and this shall be given back to you. 13:28 Good measure. 13:29 Pressed down, second together and running over 13:34 and see. 13:34 The reason I need 13:36 to kind of say this is because some of us say I have faith 13:40 without 13:41 obedience, but I need you to understand that 13:43 obedience is not what qualifies you for the miracle. 13:46 Obedience is simply what authenticates your faith. 13:52 No, no. 13:52 Obedience is the price you believe. 13:56 Because for many of us, faith is just theology. 14:00 It is just mental assent to the word. 14:03 But I need you to know 14:04 that you ain't believing for something 14:07 if you're not acting in obedience 14:09 to the promise that God made. 14:11 So I need you to know until you obey 14:15 your faith is going remain dormant. 14:20 So. So I remember one time when my oldest son, he was a baby. 14:23 He wanted to kind of help wash the dishes. 14:24 And so I told him to run the water 14:26 and get the sink full of bubbles. 14:28 And and so he made a mistake. 14:29 What he did 14:30 was he filled the sink halfway up with water 14:33 and then let the water sit still. 14:34 Then he put the dishwashing liquid in it, 14:37 and then he 14:38 was like, Daddy, we ain't got no bubbles. 14:41 And the reason we have no bubbles 14:43 is he let the water sit still before he put the bubbles in 14:48 and when you let the bubbles pour in, steal water, 14:52 it's just going lie dormant and it's not going to bubble. 14:56 And so I said, Son, you got to pour and store the water 15:00 so that you engage the bubbles so that it bubbles 15:04 up to overflowing. Y'all missed it already. 15:07 So I need you to understand, faith ain't nothing 15:10 but a half sink of water 15:13 with this water dishwashing liquid laying dormant. 15:16 But obedience is what stirs your faith. 15:20 Our obedience is what makes it bubble. 15:22 Obedience is what makes it flow. 15:26 And if you never obey, it's just going to sit there 15:29 and nothing's going to ever grow or develop from it. 15:32 I go hear me today friends 15:35 in this crazy because I'm wondering like 15:37 why is this such a big deal for Mary Rochelle? 15:41 But why is it so critical for her 15:43 that she ministers that she intercedes 15:45 and makes sure 15:46 that this young woman receives the wedding of her dreams? 15:50 And it shows us something very powerful about ministry 15:54 to the most powerful ministry is not necessarily 15:57 when I just volunteer for a task, 16:01 but when I'm minister out of my own experience. 16:06 What do you mean, Pastor? 16:08 Because this woman, this 16:09 young girl, she's about to be embarrassed, 16:11 cheap, not to be ashamed. 16:13 Do y'all realize this young girl runs out of wine that they're 16:16 going to be talking about her wedding 40 years from now? 16:20 Come on, y'all know how y'all this 16:22 y'all know how we all come on and same in like a night. 16:25 She won't be known as his wife I as her profession. 16:28 She'll be known forever 16:29 as the girl that ran out of wine at her wedding. 16:33 In other words, it's going to be filled with scandal. 16:36 I mean, seeing I'll be able to post wedding pictures online, 16:39 because it's just going to remind everybody 16:40 that her stuff ran out of wine at her wedding. 16:43 But why does Mary make sure 16:47 that Jesus does something for her wedding? 16:51 Because, remember, 16:52 because of Percy scandal, 16:55 Mary couldn't have hers. 17:00 So remember because Mary got pregnant 17:04 and was going to start showing 17:07 she had to run to the justice of the peace. 17:10 And there was always a certain scandal 17:13 or a sense of what went wrong 17:15 that followed her wherever she went. 17:18 And because Mary had now found her redemption 17:22 through the son, Jesus Christ, she says, 17:26 I'm not just going to keep this redemption all to myself. 17:31 I'm going to make sure that this redemption carries 17:34 over to somebody else. 17:36 In other words, she didn't just keep her salvation 17:41 and bottle it up, but she made sure that she shares 17:45 the blessing that she's received with 17:47 those that need it. 17:51 And see, this is why friends of mine, 17:53 we're not as powerful as we should be. 17:56 We only want a minister out of doctrine 18:00 and not out of our experience. 18:04 See, Mary had an experience that drove her. 18:08 She has found her redemption and she's been made whole. 18:12 And she wants this other woman 18:13 to have the same dignity and virtue attached to her life. 18:18 And when I'm saying to somebody today 18:19 that the church will never be powerful 18:22 as long as our witness is on paper, 18:24 as long as this with words. 18:26 But when you start saying this is what happened to me 18:30 and this is where God brought me from and my life is the proof 18:36 that if He did it from me, that same Jesus 18:42 is able to do the same for you. 18:47 See some of y'all sitting up here 18:48 looking at me like You ain't got no experience, 18:52 but how many of us know we are all something? 18:58 Oh, don't make me start calling the roll on Sunday, 19:01 y'all hear what I'm saying? 19:02 Like. Like we have all come out. 19:05 Do you know what the word church means? 19:08 It don't mean sanctified, perfect 19:11 enclave of religious faith. 19:14 And three, let's the word church simply means ecclesia, 19:19 those that have been called out 19:23 that's who to churches. 19:25 So for those who are here for the first time, 19:28 don't get intimidated because somebody has got on a suit 19:31 or a long dress or they carry a big Bible. 19:35 Everybody's here simply because they've been called out of 19:39 what you 19:39 may still be inside of. 19:43 And I want to just give somebody permission. 19:46 Don't be ashamed of your testimony. 19:54 Do I have five or six delivered folk 19:57 who can say it ain't always been pretty? 20:00 It ain't always been true. 20:02 It wasn't always this sanctified. 20:05 I didn't always look the same. 20:08 But God has brought me a mighty, mighty, mighty, mighty, 20:14 mighty, mighty, mighty long way 20:18 Can somebody say it ain't all that it ought to be 20:22 But I'm better than what I used to be. 20:25 And I'm getting better and better all the time now. 20:33 I got to be done. 20:36 But this thing got good. 20:36 So I'm looking at this thing. 20:37 So the Bible says that they fill up 20:41 these six water pots that were set aside 20:46 for the purification rituals in the under the old covenant. 20:49 Now going like this is where I kind of allow my imagination 20:51 to run away with me sometimes, because now 20:53 I'm looking at this thing and say, Man, how big? 20:56 I'll only fill up six spots. 21:02 Don't it seem like something's wrong with that? 21:05 Cause six is the 21:06 number of incomplete. 21:10 It seems like there should be seven water pots 21:15 because seven is the perfect number. 21:19 Seven is the number of completion. 21:22 Because remember, he worked on six days, but it was incomplete. 21:26 He rushed it on the seventh day, then it was complete. 21:29 They marched around Jericho on six days, 21:32 but the walls didn't fall until the seventh day. 21:35 So I'm looking at this thing, darling. 21:37 The same man. 21:38 Why weren't there seven water pots 21:40 so that the water could be turned to one man? 21:43 I dug deep and the one scholar said 21:46 the reason there was only six water pots 21:50 was because they knew Jesus was coming. 21:55 I need you to get. 21:56 The reason that was only six pots 21:59 was because Jesus was the seventh. 22:02 What about 22:04 Jesus was the source 22:06 that poured wine into the other six? 22:10 See, it was dipped out of the other six, 22:13 but it came from the seven. 22:16 The six were the conduit, 22:18 but the seventh was the source. 22:21 Anybody thankful that 22:24 Jesus completed the work 22:27 in turning water into wine? 22:30 Why? Because water. 22:32 The ritual was for the outside cleansing. 22:35 It's how you wash your hands. 22:37 It's how you wash your feet. 22:39 It's how you got the outside clean. 22:41 But it was limited because all it touched was the outside. 22:45 But guess what? 22:46 Wine got on the inside. 22:49 And it was symbolic 22:51 that under the old covenant it was limited 22:54 because all it could do was wash the outside. 22:56 But when Jesus 22:59 gets on the inside, He begins to revive the inside 23:05 and renew the inside and encourage the inside. 23:10 He doesn't just watch it from the outside in, 23:13 but Jesus transforms from the inside out. 23:17 Somebody give him praise in this place of that. 23:28 And the amazing thing is the word said, 23:31 this was just the beginning. 23:36 But he began his ministry 23:38 by giving 23:39 amazing motifs of what was to come through 23:43 the tremendous gift of salvation. 23:47 And it's crazy because, like his miracle 23:48 was not turning water into wine. 23:51 His miracle was that he was able to save the reputation 23:56 of a bride and groom. 23:59 He kept their lack from being exposed. 24:03 He kept their shortcoming from being put on blast. 24:07 You know what he did? 24:07 He did the same thing 24:08 that he did for the first couple he ever married. 24:13 He covered their nakedness. 24:19 And I need to know that's the greatest 24:21 the greatest work Jesus did, friends of mine. 24:24 It was not man healing, blind, bottomless. 24:26 It was not man 24:28 healing the man with the liver 24:29 with it hand or the woman with the issue blood 24:31 or even raising up Lazarus. 24:33 Jesus greatest work is saving work, 24:37 some art. 24:39 Do you realize 24:42 that there are no miracles 24:44 in the sight of God? 24:52 When the Red Sea opens, 24:55 that's just God breathing on it. 24:58 And do you hear what I'm saying? 25:02 When. 25:02 When the sun stood still, 25:05 you realize that it wasn't even the sun that stood still. 25:08 Because the sun is always still. 25:10 It's the earth that rotates on its axis. 25:13 So what God does is like a basketball player. 25:16 He puts the earth on the tip of his finger and lets expand. 25:22 And on that day he just stopped the spin 25:26 because he's God. 25:29 But the greatest work that Jesus does is he saves. 25:34 And the reason that's the miracle is because salvation 25:37 has to deal with beings that have free will. 25:43 Earth is going to do what it's supposed to do. 25:45 That water is going to see its savior man 25:48 blush and turn with red and become wine. 25:50 That that's what he's going to do. 25:53 And, you know, sickness is going to recognize 25:54 same and it's going to get out the way. 25:55 The only thing in creation that does not do what Jesus told 25:59 it to do 26:02 is sitting in these 26:03 pews here today. 26:07 Oh, and it's standing on the pulpit and 26:11 his greatest work is saving work. 26:15 It is saving work. 26:20 And I stopped by here today 26:23 because God wants to do 26:25 some saving work today, 26:29 but God has already beginning work of covering you. 26:36 Some of us. 26:38 We ought to have to buckle you down to your seat. 26:40 All the stuff and grime that God has kept from hitting the fan 26:47 He's covered and kept you. 26:51 And the most important thing is not only 26:52 does he cover it and keep it from coming out here on Earth 26:55 when you receive him as Lord and Savior, 26:56 he covers it in the Book of Life. 27:01 Read on Facebook that the 27:02 that the only scene that Christ had was ours. 27:07 And the 27:08 only righteousness we'll ever have is he is 27:12 God wants to do saving work. 27:15 He wants to do a saving work. 27:17 He wants to do a saving work. 27:19 And I need you to know that salvation is simply this. 27:22 It is me recognizing I can't save myself. 27:27 I am a sinner sewn unto iniquity and wickedness. 27:30 It is the acknowledgment that redemption comes from above 27:34 and that only through the merits of Jesus Christ, 27:38 then I can lay claim to them by faith that I can be saved. 27:41 So Jesus wants to do some saving work in somebody's 27:45 life right now. 28:04 Breath Of Life Music |
