00:03 #S061- Adults Only (Part 2)
00:19 Welcome to the Breath 00:21 of life television ministries broadcast with Pastor Debleaire 00:25 Snell. Now in today's episode, Pastor Snell will continue part 00:29 two of the powerful message titled Adults Only. 00:35 Now let's go deeper into the word of God. 00:37 But it's crazy 00:38 because when you look at the folks 00:39 that have come back to church after the pandemic, 00:43 they're the folks that primarily were active in service 00:48 before the pandemic. 00:50 But if you were just a pew warmer before the pandemic, 00:54 what you found out is that the pew with your house quiet 00:59 is more comfortable than the pews at the church. 01:03 And what I'm saying is that every young disciple 01:06 needs to be equipped and trained to serve. 01:10 And the one caveat is this, is that we've got to teach 01:12 our young people 01:14 how to discover the spiritual gifts at an earlier age. 01:18 What do I mean when I say that? 01:19 You see, one of the mistakes 01:21 that we often made is back in the day, 01:22 every boy had to be a junior deacon, 01:25 and every girl had to be in the choir. 01:28 And in fact, like one of the errors 01:29 that we made 01:30 sometimes in the black church is that if you didn't play ball 01:33 and you didn't sing, man, you was up the creek. 01:36 But how many of us know that there are a diversity of gifts 01:41 that God has given to the body of Christ? 01:44 And see, what happened 01:45 is we force some to operate outside of their gift, 01:50 and then we demonize them when they didn't respond the way 01:52 we wanted them to respond. 01:54 When the truth is that Ussery or Deacon 01:57 might not have been their gift. 01:59 Y'all hear what I'm saying to the church? 02:01 In other words, I need us to be clear 02:03 that God does not wait until we are grown to give us our gifts. 02:08 We receive our gifts as children. 02:11 And there are some that know how to sing, some 02:13 that know how to write, some that have the gift of art. 02:17 Some that have the gift to lead. 02:19 Some that have the gift to think. 02:20 And the problem is, 02:22 we will only 02:23 allow them to do things that does not require judgment 02:27 or brain thought. 02:28 But it's amazing 02:29 how a 17 year old is required to sit down in church. 02:33 But companies like Apple and Google and Amazon 02:38 are filling up their boardrooms and think tanks 02:41 because they realize 02:42 that young people are go create the wave of the future. 02:46 How many of us know that? 02:47 Joel 228 says that in the latter days 02:51 I'm going to pour out my spirit on all flesh. 02:54 That's a sons and daughters. 02:56 How prophesy your young men 02:58 children dream dreams, your own mental dreams, visions. 03:02 In other words, we are in the age where we are 03:04 not just be setting them in a corner, 03:08 but we ought to be sitting them at the table 03:11 and be asking them, What 03:12 is the Lord saying to you? 03:16 Who told the lie that the devil couldn't speak to young people? 03:21 Then God sent dreams through. 03:22 Joseph did not God prophesy for a young Jeremiah, 03:27 did not God raise up disciples in their thirties. 03:31 And it's crazy because I was in one church 03:32 where I was talking something like what I'm saying today. 03:35 And I say, Pastor, the reason 03:36 we don't let the young people on the church board. 03:40 The reason we don't let them participate is that the board 03:43 meetings are so cantankerous that we don't want them 03:45 to get discouraged and run away from church. 03:49 And you know what I said to them? 03:51 I said, if your meetings are that cantankerous 03:55 and that toxic, that it will run the young folk away. 04:00 Your board needs to be dismantled. 04:02 All the members need to be replaced. 04:05 And Pastor, you want to turn in your resignation. 04:08 In other words. Church 04:09 Why in the world, in the church is there a PG 13 section 04:15 where parental guidance is required? 04:19 Why is there a rated R section where you got to be 18 04:22 in order to see? 04:24 In other words, in the House of God, 04:27 there ought to be space for everybody. 04:30 There is no adult, only section that God has torn down 04:33 the middle partition. 04:35 So that guess what, women have the spirit. 04:38 Men have the spirit. 04:40 All folk have this spirit. 04:42 PS Have the spirit. 04:43 And whosoever is willing, 04:48 we ought to use them for the glory of God. 04:51 Third thing this teaches a move in church and hear me 04:54 on this young people, you can't be inside and out 05:01 at the same time. 05:03 Now the Bible says, My man, you took this man. 05:06 It's a hard name to say a bunch of times. 05:09 I'm a date myself. 05:10 Can I call it easy? 05:18 Some of man easy letter 05:21 for me. 05:22 Easy is it sitting there in the window. 05:24 Now, when we think of a window, 05:25 we think of a glass, you know, kind of a glass structure 05:30 that opens and closes, but in ancient times, a window 05:33 was simply an unsealed space in the wall. 05:37 In fact, many times it would have a ledge 05:38 that would be somewhere between 12 and 20 inches 05:43 where you could sit down on it very comfortable, comfortably. 05:46 But I need somebody to get the problem with you, 05:48 because it's not that you get sleepy. 05:52 The problem is where he chooses 05:54 to rest. 05:59 See, the problem is his frustration with the old folk 06:04 forces him to the perimeter of the building. 06:08 His frustration 06:09 puts him on the edges of church service. 06:13 His frustration puts him on the outskirts of the situation. 06:18 And it's crazy because, man, the danger is not that 06:21 he falls asleep. 06:22 The danger 06:23 is that his frustration puts him so close to the edge 06:28 that he doesn't realize how vulnerable he is. 06:31 And see, this is the crazy thing. 06:32 What would have been better for you to guess 06:34 would have been to go inside. 06:36 I didn't sit down in the heat. 06:40 Ought to just walk out of the church altogether. 06:43 Well, y'all made it quiet. 06:45 What would have been better is for him to go suck it up 06:48 and sit down where it's uncomfortable 06:51 or to leave the body or the fellowship completely. 06:55 But there was a unique danger in sitting in the window 07:01 because a number of friends, a window 07:02 is not necessarily inside and outside a window 07:05 is an undefined space in the building, 07:09 so that when you do sit down in the window, 07:14 you utica's 07:16 is essentially on both sides of the structure. 07:22 Yo, yo, yo, yo. 07:23 Miss Smith, y'all waiting for me to preach? 07:25 I'm already preaching and then I'm already preaching. 07:28 No, no. 07:30 See, the problem is he's on both sides of the facility 07:33 so that he's got one foot dangling in church 07:38 and he's got the other foot dangling outside church. 07:42 See, the problem with Utica 07:43 is that on the one side, he can hear the sermon, 07:47 on the other side, he can hear the streets 07:50 on one side, he can hear church music. 07:53 On the other side he hears street music. 07:56 On one side it's hot, 07:59 but on the other side is coal. 08:02 And he won't be better off if he just tells the side, 08:06 because if he's hot inside 08:09 and he steps outside in the cold, wake him up. 08:11 If he's cold outside and he steps into the heat, 08:14 it's gonna draw him. 08:15 But when you're in a hot situation, 08:18 there's something about just enough cool breeze 08:22 that makes you comfortable on the edge. 08:25 And you don't even realize 08:27 where the foul is about to take place. 08:31 And I just need to say to the Utica 08:34 Saints of all ages in here today, the problem is 08:39 we're trying to sit on both sides of the structure. 08:43 We want to have a little world and a little church. 08:48 We want a little Jesus and a little Jay-Z. 08:50 All mighty cloud up here today. 08:53 Oh, we want the Beatitudes and Beyoncé tickets. 08:57 Oh, Lord, have mercy. 08:59 Oh, don't look at your phone now. 09:01 Look up after the preacher. 09:03 I'm rolling right down your street today. 09:06 And what I'm saying to 09:06 somebody is, is what makes Christianity hard 09:11 is not stepping into the fellowship. 09:14 What makes it hard is when I try to straddle the fence. 09:19 What makes it difficult is when I introduce my own conflict. 09:23 What makes it hard is when I try to sit on both sides 09:27 at the same time 09:30 so that 09:32 young people 09:34 you're you're playing this well, not young people. 09:37 People 09:40 your your playlist 09:42 should not be filled with phrases and profanities. 09:49 Amen. 09:51 Can the old folk and say, man, can you fake an amen? 09:55 Yeah. 09:57 You got your little Marvin Gaye in there. 09:57 You see you 10:02 see, Christians don't have church 10:03 clothes and club clothes. 10:12 My students, 10:13 you shouldn't pick a Bible to walk her to church 10:16 and pack a condom to take her out. 10:17 Tonight, she. 10:23 See, the reason we're frustrated 10:24 is because we're trying to merge 10:27 multiple environments 10:30 that never, ever mix with one another. 10:34 And so I need you to know that serving the Lord is difficult 10:36 because our flesh war is against the laws of the Spirit. 10:40 But one of the things that 10:42 multiplies the difficulty is when I add to my conflict 10:47 by trying to merge worlds that will never be compatible. 10:51 In other words, 10:52 you can imitate Proverbs 31 10:55 and The Real Housewives of Atlanta at the same time. 10:59 Oh, y'all open. 11:02 Yeah. 11:04 See, there's just certain mergers that will never work. 11:07 In other words, fire and ice 11:10 can never be in a relationship 11:14 because the fire is going to melt the ice. 11:18 And when the ice melts, it's going to put out the fire 11:22 so that if I'm going to be ice, guess what? 11:24 You need to sack up with ice. 11:25 And if you're going to be on fire with God, 11:27 you need to have principles and peoples and ideals 11:31 that are going to stoke the fire 11:34 and not put out the fire. 11:35 Listen, I'm almost done for thing this teachers. 11:38 Listen, listen, stay with me. 11:39 Church is that the tragedy of this is they 11:43 have a culture of observation but not intervention. 11:51 Okay. 11:55 I don't know if you're we're not grieved as we should be. 12:00 So so you bought U2 because it's in the window. 12:03 He's falling asleep. 12:05 The danger, again, is not that he falls asleep. 12:06 Everybody gets a little nap in church every now and then 12:13 I'd be looking, right. 12:14 That's all I make out. 12:18 I'm looking right. It. 12:25 I know you had a long week you have to side 12:28 but the danger friends, is his placement. 12:31 Are you all still with me? 12:34 And notice the detail that the word says. 12:37 The word is that he is sinking into sleep. 12:42 No, the word says not only is he sinking in the sleep, 12:45 he is overcome with sleep. 12:49 So that detail, what is this is describing, 12:50 Chris, is a progression. 12:52 In other words, this not a cat that goes into the window 12:56 and sits down with the goal of taking a nap. 12:58 This is a brother 12:59 that, as they are describing it, to look, 13:01 they are giving the detail, as you know, 13:03 because you're a cat, sits down in the chair. 13:05 They can see him as he begins to nod off. 13:07 And then he sits back up 13:09 where man, as he begins to drift, 13:10 he says, a man in his sleep to the servant, 13:13 they can literally see as he is fighting sleep, 13:16 he is sitting up and pushing down and eventually 13:18 sleep gets the best of him before he falls 13:22 out of the window. 13:23 Now, who probably does not see this, 13:27 somebody else tells him what happens. 13:32 They just sit there and Luke is writing it down. 13:34 They're like, Yeah, man, I'm. 13:35 I can see him out of the corner, my man. Yeah. 13:37 You're bored, man. He sat down there. 13:38 He was good at first, 13:39 but then, man, he sat down a little bit too far 13:41 and then all of a sudden I saw his eyes begin to slip. 13:43 And then he 13:44 he got back up, 13:45 and then he had 13:45 begin to sink back down and he got back up 13:47 and then he got up and kind of washed his face off. 13:49 But then he sat back down 13:51 and when he sat back down, man, all of a sudden 13:52 he got too comfortable 13:54 and he sat down and it got 13:55 deeper and deeper and deeper until he fell out the window. 14:01 And it's crazy because I don't know 14:02 exactly how Luke feels as he is writing this down, 14:06 but there has to be a portion of him 14:09 that is completely indignant at what is being said with him. 14:13 There is a part of him that's got to be like you say, 14:15 Oh, that's 14:19 you. So I'm drifting. 14:22 Yeah. 14:23 So I'm thinking, you know, this him 14:26 losing balance and all you did was documented 14:32 and watch it, 14:34 but you didn't wake him up 14:39 and see. 14:40 They have a culture that observes 14:43 when a towel is falling 14:46 but woe intervene to stop it 14:49 when it's going down 14:54 and it's crazy friends of mine 14:56 because man, we have shifted so far in the pendulum like men 15:00 40 years ago, man, kids couldn't hardly breathe. 15:03 The adults will be all in your business, man. 15:04 Following you behind you wherever you went, 15:06 following you outside, in the back to church. 15:08 You can do no wrong in church. 15:11 Come on to say that. 15:12 Right. 15:14 But now, because we so afraid of being called jokers 15:18 and hypocrites, 15:20 we can see them collapsing 15:24 and we won't say no to him. 15:28 Let me just say this, love. 15:30 When you love somebody, love won't let you be silent. 15:35 Love is willing to offend. 15:38 Love is willing for you to get mad at me. 15:41 Love is willing for you to not like me. 15:43 In other words, the stakes are too high. 15:46 The consequences are too great. 15:47 I would rather be respected than like and I will not let you 15:52 go to hell without a fight 15:59 and see the same way. 16:01 Hold up that there are certain things. 16:03 Same way you you gradually drift into physical sleep, 16:08 you gradually drift into spiritual sleep. 16:11 And there are warning signs that are noticeable. 16:14 Am I telling the truth off of you? 16:16 You can tell when a young man or woman has 16:19 lost their innocence. 16:22 You can 16:23 tell when somebody has lost their confidence. 16:26 You can see a shift in the energy when they wind up 16:29 always on the periphery but never engage. 16:32 You can see something is wrong when you walk by and 16:34 get a contact high on the weed 16:40 that's trailing them everywhere 16:42 that they go. 16:46 And the word 16:48 to the church today 16:51 is that when you see something, 16:55 say something 17:01 and say, we're so worried about them 17:03 getting mad and leaving the church. 17:04 The ones that leave the church are not 17:06 the ones that are reproving. 17:08 The ones that lead are the ones that are ignored. 17:12 It is the ones that nobody addresses 17:14 that nobody cares enough 17:17 that nobody is burdened enough to say, Young sister, 17:21 you're better than that young man. 17:23 I know who you are and whose you are. 17:27 When you say something, you've got to say something. 17:29 Oh, but this is the tension. 17:32 The reason we can't 17:33 say nothing when it's going bad 17:36 is because we never opened our mouth to say nothing 17:39 when they were doing something good. 17:42 And then it crazy that they don't that nobody 17:45 screams and hollers until, you know, because he's dead. 17:49 When he's down on the ground bleeding, 17:50 everybody want to shout and have a conniption in a premier. 17:53 Paul Like set up, 17:56 y'all. 17:57 He said none when he was falling asleep. 17:59 And what I'm saying to somebody today 18:00 is when you see something, when you see something, 18:07 when you see something, when you see something. 18:11 But this is the key. 18:12 Don't just wait until you see something bad to say something. 18:18 When you see something good, 18:20 you want to say something. 18:22 When you see them on the honor roll, say something. 18:27 When you see them in the choir, say something. 18:31 When you see them on program, say something. 18:34 When you see them in Pathfinders, say something. 18:38 When you see them excel athletically, say something 18:42 when you see them coding, say something. 18:45 When you see them singing, say something. 18:48 Don't just wait till they're in jail to say something. 18:51 Don't just wait till they're out of the church 18:53 to say something. 18:54 Don't just wait till they're on skid row to say something. 18:58 But when they're being used by God, you ought to see 19:02 something and 19:04 say something 19:07 and see when you say something, 19:09 your words nourish them. 19:12 Your words become violent men. 19:16 And when you give Vine a man, you don't need medicine. 19:21 Are y'all hear me today, friends 19:25 and his crazy parents. 19:27 This brother falls to the ground 19:31 so everybody's tripping. 19:31 Unless I'm done. 19:33 It must have been well. 19:34 2 minutes. 19:38 But there's something really critical I need you to see, 19:41 because anybody didn't. 19:42 Actually, the apostle says that when the boy falls down dead, 19:46 the Paul hovers over him and he begins to call 19:49 on the name of the Lord who is going to help somebody. 19:53 Paul is praying, even when the boy's not responding, 19:59 and he keeps on prayed 20:01 before the boy lifts up his head 20:03 and he's praying before he hears a heartbeat. 20:08 And he's praying even when he can't detect a pulse. 20:11 He keeps on praying even when the boy's not responding. 20:15 Y'all, mister, shout. 20:16 Because there's somebody 20:17 that knows a young person that's spiritually dead 20:22 and you want to stop praying because they're not responding 20:26 and no word to somebody today 20:28 is that you've got to keep praying, 20:30 even when your child ain't responding, keep praying, 20:35 even when they're in the club, keep praying when they fail 20:38 the class, keep praying when they initiate the game, 20:43 keep praying when they play it for the threat. 20:46 Keep praying when they refuse to come to church. 20:49 You've got to keep praying. 20:50 When they not responding it. 20:53 Don't take pray to pray 20:54 when you can see them walk through the door. 20:57 It takes another level of faith 21:00 to pray when they don't respond to what to say, to pray 21:03 when they don't respond to how you don't 21:05 taught them to pray when you can't see any results. 21:10 You got to keep praying 21:13 even when they're not responding. 21:15 So watch this 21:18 soap man. 21:19 Your boy Paul man sees this thing falls dead. 21:22 Everybody's tripping, they crying, they weeping 21:25 all the paid mourners are coming out to stand 21:27 with the family in this moment of trial and adversity. 21:31 But your boy Paul 21:34 walks down 21:37 as cool as the other side of the pillow, 21:41 tells everybody, stop trippin 21:44 because he sees hopeless 21:47 situations 21:50 differently than everyone else does. 21:53 So the reason Paul knows what to do 21:57 if he simply can't do what was done for him 22:03 is Acts Chapter 14. 22:05 The Bible says the Jews came from out of time, 22:09 wet rocks in hand to stone. 22:12 Paul Because the truth was too powerful. 22:17 And they hit him so hard that his skin began to tear, 22:21 his bones began to break, and they presumed him 22:26 dead. 22:27 Now, I need you to be clear that the Bible doesn't say he died, 22:32 but you don't come from out of town to kill somebody 22:36 without checking to see if they were dead. 22:39 But for a minute, there is no pulse. 22:43 For a minute there is no breath for at least a moment. 22:46 Paul, code it. 22:47 But the Bible says that the Saints gathered. 22:52 Around Paul 22:54 and called on the name of the Lord, 22:58 and after a little while the. 23:01 Bible. 23:02 Says that. 23:04 Paul rose out. 23:07 And the reason that Paul 23:09 falls on the boy, 23:13 the reason he covers the young man, 23:17 the reason he puts himself on him 23:21 is he's still got remnants 23:24 of his own resurrection. 23:29 He's got remnants of his resurrection that if I cover him 23:36 once in. 23:37 Me, is going flow to him. 23:42 And I just need to know, do 23:45 I have any resurrected saints? 23:48 You've been raised by God, and when you cover your kids, 23:54 all you're doing 23:56 is giving the remnants 23:58 of what God gave to you 24:01 when God raised you up. 24:04 Are you tired of just being tired? 24:07 Are you frustrated because your results never change? 24:11 Do you feel like life is just going in circles? 24:15 I'm excited to introduce my newest book 24:18 entitled ExcuseLess, and I'm going to be talking 24:21 about how to cancel the excuses that smother our soul wellness. 24:26 I need you to know that your issue 24:27 is not your circumstances. 24:29 It's not the challenges. 24:31 It is the lies that we tell ourselves about 24:34 why we're not progressing. 24:36 When you tell yourself, I don't have enough time, 24:39 I don't have enough resources, I don't have enough money. 24:42 Those are the excuses that are keeping you 24:44 from becoming who got has called you to be. 24:47 So this book 24:47 is going to be talking to you 24:48 about how to manage your distractions, 24:51 how to overcome your fears, 24:52 how to walk through 24:54 procrastination, and to become the best version of yourself. 24:58 So join me on Saturday, April the 13th, as I begin 25:02 a teaching series entitled Excuse This. 25:05 Every Saturday and Wednesday, 25:07 we're going to walk through the Word of God 25:09 and give you the cheat code 25:11 to having a life filled with progress. 25:13 And then I want you to join us starting Sunday, April 25:16 the 14th, for our 21 Days of Prayer. 25:20 We're going to march through the content of the book. 25:21 We're going to testify. 25:22 We're going to call on the name of the Lord, 25:24 and we're going to grow as a community of faith. 25:28 You'll be able to get the book. 25:29 It's Useless on our Breath of Life website 25:33 at We want you to know that this year's conference is not 26:18 about spreadsheets, budgets or accounting. 26:22 We're going to be talking 26:23 about the process your soul goes through 26:26 whenever
