00:04 #S070 - Stop Watching Other People Eat (Part 2)
00:19 Welcome to the Breath of Life Television
00:22 Ministries broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell.
00:26 In today's episode, Pastor Snell will continue part
00:29 two of the powerful message.
00:33 “Stop Watching Other People Eat.” Now let's go
00:36 deeper into the Word of God and see friends of mine.
00:41 I need some who've been around long enough to testify
00:44 that if your current self met your old self, your old self,
00:49 when even recognize who you are right now.
00:51 Oh, y'all actin boozy like you always been safe.
00:56 I know your Bible is big and your skirt is long,
01:00 but do I have any real folk that can testify that man
01:03 if who I was back then, Matt, who I am right now,
01:09 you would think you had multiple personality disorder.
01:13 I hear what I'm saying today, Church.
01:15 If you're addicted, self met your sober self.
01:21 He wouldn't even recognize you
01:23 if your greedy self met your content self.
01:27 He would know who you are.
01:29 If your demonic self met your deepening
01:32 self, you wouldn't even know who you were.
01:36 If your impatient self met your patient self.
01:40 You wouldn't even be able to know who it is
01:42 if your petty self met your praying self.
01:46 If your reckless self met your wise self.
01:50 If your ignorant self met your interceding self.
01:54 If your promise to a self.
01:56 Met your praising self,
02:02 you wouldn't even know who your going to become.
02:06 And that's why John says it does not yet
02:08 appear what we shall be.
02:12 But this is the promise that when he appears,
02:16 we'll be like him and see
02:19 him as he is.
02:24 Are you all here in the past
02:25 of today?
02:30 So I need you to notice
02:35 Gideon's response
02:38 to God's declaration.
02:41 He says, The Lord is with you,
02:45 mighty warrior.
02:48 And it's funny because Gideon
02:51 spends his days in a wine press
02:55 and there is something about this conversation
02:59 that is very triggering to get in
03:03 when God says, I'm with you.
03:07 It touches a nerve of faith that has been inactive
03:12 in Gideon's life for quite some time.
03:15 It's crazy because when God says that he is with Gideon,
03:20 you would think, David, that this would be good news, that
03:22 he would smile and have a sense of comfort
03:25 and assurance that God is with him.
03:27 But I need you to see this
03:28 in your mind's eye that when God says I am with you
03:33 for whatever reason, Gideon, his whole countenance begins
03:35 to change.
03:36 His entire energy begins to shift.
03:40 This very humble and docile man begins to act
03:43 in a way that is not consistent
03:46 with the rest of his life trends.
03:47 I can see your boy Gideon, when the Lord says I am with you.
03:52 All of a sudden His hands begin to tremble.
03:54 All of a sudden, his voice begins to elevate.
03:57 All of a sudden,
03:58 his wife, his voice begins to get a little loud.
04:01 And all of a sudden,
04:02 Gideon does not respond in a positive or pristine way.
04:07 He begins to really
04:08 give an eruption of soul, where he literally begins to
04:11 say, Well, if God is with us, where are all his miracles?
04:16 If God is with us, where are the miracles
04:20 that our forefathers told us about?
04:22 If God is with us, why isn't He doing for us?
04:26 What He did for them at the Red Sea?
04:28 If God is with us, where is our manna each day?
04:31 Where is our water? From the rock.
04:34 Where is our God?
04:35 That fights for our battles?
04:36 And it's crazy because if you were to
04:38 look at Gideon, all of a sudden his palms are sweaty,
04:43 his appearance is disheveled, his hair is matted,
04:47 his sandal straps are broken, and there is an anger
04:50 in his voice.
04:52 And notice what God says when he sees Gideon's frustration
04:58 as Gideon
04:58 is ranting and raving and mad.
05:02 God says that right there.
05:06 He says, You see that?
05:08 I want you to go in that night
05:12 right there, or you'll miss it.
05:14 In other words, he don't tell Gideon, calm down.
05:17 He don't say, get yourself together.
05:20 He don't say go and take a nap and come back.
05:23 He says while your on can and your big mad
05:28 I want to send you and that
05:30 strength right there.
05:33 Now, it's crazy
05:35 because all Gideon does is expressed frustration.
05:40 So I'm trying to figure out what might
05:41 is he talking about, what strength is he referencing?
05:46 And what I've come to know
05:47 is that Gideon Smite is not in his muscles.
05:51 It is not in his weapons, but his might is in his frustration
05:56 room.
05:58 Third point How many of us know that sometimes
06:00 your frustration is your fuel.
06:05 Okay.
06:08 You see, God can use a frustrated person.
06:12 He can't use an indifferent person.
06:16 He can use a frustrate and burdened person
06:20 more than he can.
06:21 A talented and degreed person.
06:25 Are here in the past today and see the problem
06:29 is that sometimes we don't know how to frame our frustration.
06:33 You see, I need somebody to know that your frustration is
06:37 actually the strength to change what's happening in you,
06:41 and it is the strength
06:44 to change what's happening around you.
06:48 See? See, this is where it is.
06:49 And I talked about this in the book,
06:50 so forgive me for being redundant.
06:52 See how many of us understand
06:54 that most of us don't change based on information.
07:00 Acting.
07:02 We don't change based upon data.
07:08 Yeah.
07:08 Looking at all I do,
07:12 we don't change based upon information.
07:15 Most of us don't change until there's some frustration
07:19 that is pushing us where information can get us.
07:23 All right. All right. Come on. Real true.
07:24 I mean, because we
07:25 have information about health, come on and say, man, we know
07:29 we shouldn't be eating sweets and staying up late.
07:33 And and we know the nutritional deficits
07:36 caused by drinking our smoking and our coffee.
07:40 But it is not until the doctor says high blood
07:43 pressure or diabetes or you can't buckle up your pants.
07:47 Come on and say, man, you accept that dress up.
07:50 Come on, you got to be frustrated.
07:56 I mean I mean, we know what we should be doing in marriage.
07:59 We read the book, and then at home you've
08:02 read the five love languages.
08:03 But it's not until there
08:04 is emotional frustration or marital frustration
08:08 or sexual frustration
08:09 that we decide that we better go ahead and deal
08:12 with some things we know, information
08:16 that we ought to be in the world,
08:17 that we ought to be on our face.
08:19 But sometimes it is not until the Lord allows circumstance
08:24 to touch our lives that we get real and stop playing
08:28 church and start calling on the name of the Lord.
08:35 So that information is the seed,
08:38 but frustration is the fertilizer.
08:42 See, some of us, as Tony Robbins says, we won't change
08:46 until the discomfort of change
08:51 is less than the discomfort of remaining the same seed.
08:54 Some of us won't change
08:55 until it hurts so bad to stay like we are.
08:59 That sometimes frustration is an
09:02 usher that directs us to the power of God.
09:05 I hear me today. Thanks.
09:08 Have you ever wondered why?
09:09 When you pray for things to change
09:13 before they get better, they get worse.
09:19 And what God was doing was assigning the frustration
09:23 that would be the catalyst to make the change permanent.
09:29 So you thought, man, you were praying for things
09:30 get easier and better and more calm.
09:32 But how many of us know that sometimes
09:34 frustration is the answer to your prayers?
09:39 So even when we look at certain people
09:40 that we think are so motivated and self-driven
09:43 and they got so much dry weight, you think they get that from,
09:47 you know, motivation is motivation is simply
09:50 when you give your frustration a task,
09:53 it is simply when you give your frustration an assignment.
09:57 See, some of us give our frustration a voice,
09:59 but we never give it anything to do.
10:08 So it's not
10:09 until you just get completely frustrated about your work
10:12 that you actually sign up to go back to school
10:15 or consider entrepreneurship.
10:17 It is not until you get really frustrated in your marriage
10:20 that you decide.
10:21 Let us go ahead and see somebody
10:23 before things continue to get worse.
10:25 It's not until you get really frustrated about your health
10:29 that you decide, let me go see the doctor
10:31 or the physical therapist.
10:32 Sometimes it's not until you get so frustrated
10:36 about what's happening at church.
10:37 That frustration aims you in the direction of ministry
10:39 participation and said, I need you to know that whenever
10:43 there is frustration combined with inactivity,
10:47 it just means you ain't frustrated enough.
10:50 It means God
10:51 is saying, I got to put some more wood on the fire.
10:55 I've got to turn up the heat.
10:56 I've got to create some more discomfort
11:00 because as long as you can manage it,
11:03 as long as you can handle it, as long as you can sit with it,
11:07 as long as you can endure it, you won't change it
11:10 because we don't change.
11:12 And conditions of comfort,
11:13 we don't change without some irritation.
11:17 And is there anybody that's at a place
11:20 where you're going to stop cursing the irritation
11:22 and say, Lord, I thank you for removing the excuses
11:26 and I thank you for taking away the comfort.
11:29 I thank you for assuring me
11:33 and to the place you have for me.
11:36 You know,
11:38 you know, one of the problems in Israel at this point toyou
11:43 one of the problems is that we look at Gideon like crazy,
11:45 like he ain't got no faith because he's questioning
11:47 whether or not God has with him.
11:50 But I need you to realize the problem
11:52 is, is not that Gideon is mad.
11:56 The problem is that he's the only one mad.
12:05 See, we've
12:06 wrongly framed Gideon as just a complete coward.
12:11 But that's not who Gideon is.
12:13 Do you realize the Bible says that the rest of Israel,
12:16 they were content to hang out in the caves
12:19 and in the catacombs and in the corners of the mountains.
12:21 And they
12:22 literally just stayed there until the media knights left.
12:26 And once Midian was gone, they would just go out and get
12:30 the scraps or the leftovers that Midian didn't eat.
12:34 But the Gideon has a bit more courage in that.
12:38 You see, the reason Gideon is hiding in the wine press
12:41 is because the knights are still around.
12:44 In other words, Gideon is saying,
12:45 I'm not content to just sit there and watch them eat.
12:50 So Gideon steps out and risk his life
12:53 going into the wine press, because Gideon says
12:57 even if the media knights are eating, I got it, too.
13:01 Are y'all catching this thing?
13:03 Church. And he's mad.
13:07 And so you want to know why getting this man.
13:08 The reason he goes on this rant about men.
13:11 Where are our miracles?
13:12 Why has God forsaken us?
13:14 Why have all these things happen?
13:16 Why has not God bless our people?
13:21 And the reason he's so upset is
13:23 because he had an expectation
13:28 that things would be different.
13:31 Yeah, see, he's seeing it one way,
13:36 but he expected it to happen a different way.
13:40 And see, we think Gideon had no faith.
13:44 No, his issue is not a lack of faith.
13:47 The issue is that he has bruised faith.
13:53 See? Bruised faith looks like this.
13:56 It's when you get your hopes and your beliefs up.
14:01 It is when you are trusting God for a particular
14:05 or certain outcome.
14:07 It is when you can see it with great detail
14:10 and vividness in your mind.
14:12 But when you open your physical eyes,
14:16 what you saw when your eyes were close
14:19 doesn't match what you see when your eyes are open.
14:23 Have you
14:24 ever had your faith bruised?
14:28 Oh, yo, yo, yo. I got mustard seed.
14:30 Mountain moving faith.
14:33 Have you ever just believed for it?
14:35 Where you prayed
14:37 and you trust it and you hope and you expect it.
14:41 And yet it did not come to pass
14:47 where you fasted
14:48 and you stood on the promise and you waited on the Lord.
14:53 And you won't say it because you're here in church
14:55 and somebody on the road may hear you,
14:58 but you're actually wondering, like Gideon,
15:01 if God is with me, where are my miracles?
15:05 Where's my open door?
15:06 When is my breakthrough?
15:08 When is it my turn?
15:10 Why am I always watching somebody else eat
15:16 before I take my seat?
15:17 Can I tell you quickly what to do when your faith gets bruised?
15:22 See, it's funny, too, because see something?
15:24 You know, I live in this face right now.
15:28 I'll say with the past
15:30 where I do something I know I shouldn't do,
15:33 and yet I do it anyway. Sometimes we're there.
15:35 Sometimes when the Lord is speaking to me.
15:38 Y'all still with me? Church.
15:40 See? See, the problem is not
15:42 when God speak because He will speak
15:44 and he'll show me what it's going to be in the end.
15:49 But what sometimes I mess up and do is I create a script
15:51 as to how it's going to come to pass.
15:55 And what happens is
15:56 I'll create this script about how God is going do it.
16:00 And the problem is when you create a script
16:03 about how God is going to do it, you can't unsee
16:06 the script of your own making.
16:07 And sometimes
16:08 the script is not God breathe, it's flesh in hell to
16:14 hear what I'm saying.
16:16 Church And see, there are some of us that get disappointed
16:20 because we think God is not going to do it,
16:23 because of the way life is unfolding at the moment.
16:27 And this is why.
16:28 Church You can't spend too much time in assessment
16:32 about where you are currently because how many of us know that
16:36 sometimes your path doesn't always
16:39 reflect your destination?
16:43 You know, God,
16:45 I need somebody to hear this vision.
16:46 They're extremists.
16:47 Are y'all in the house today?
16:49 Are y'all with the pastor today?
16:51 I need you to be clear that sometimes
16:54 the path you are on
16:57 does not reveal the destination where you will
17:00 land, as he sometimes will get off the path
17:07 because it does not mirror our perceived death destination.
17:11 Because what God will do sometimes
17:13 is He'll show you the end.
17:16 But He doesn't show you everything in the mirror.
17:19 Oh, come on.
17:20 Come on and talk back to the pastor today.
17:22 I mean I mean, let me give you some examples of this.
17:24 Think about Joseph.
17:25 God had given Joseph visions and dreams of rulership.
17:29 God literally had put in his mind
17:32 a vision of the sun, moon and stars bowing down to him.
17:35 He had a dream of rulership.
17:38 Rulership was the destination.
17:40 But how many of us know that his path
17:44 did not reflect his destination?
17:47 So God shows him the palace.
17:50 But He doesn't show him the pit.
17:51 He doesn't show him part of her.
17:53 He doesn't show him the prison.
17:55 He doesn't show him everything in between.
17:59 And so if he focuses on the path, guess what?
18:01 He misses the destination.
18:04 Well, think about my man, David.
18:07 David is anointed to be king when he's about 15 years old.
18:10 But how many of us know that after
18:11 he is anointed to be king, there is very little in the path
18:15 that looks like the destination.
18:18 So he is anointed to be king and it looks good for a minute.
18:21 As long as he is playing music for Saul.
18:22 But what? God does not show him.
18:24 He does not show him Saul's insecurity.
18:27 He does not show him Saul's jealousy.
18:30 He does not show him Saul's murderous race.
18:32 He does not show him
18:33 a 15 year journey as a refugee and a wanderer.
18:39 He does not show him the bloody war with the House
18:41 of Saul.
18:42 After Saul dies, he shows him the end.
18:46 He doesn't show him everything in between.
18:49 And what I'm saying to somebody, because your path is rough
18:54 and your path is hard and your path is painful
18:58 and your path is filled with tears.
19:00 I need you to know that the path is no indication
19:03 of the destination.
19:07 Are you out here in the path of the day?
19:10 I don't mean to cut off my online audience in this place.
19:13 Anybody here in Huntsville
19:14 you have a drove to Destin, Florida.
19:16 Anybody ever been there before?
19:19 Now, if you ever drove down to Destin from here,
19:22 you know that the journey
19:26 I'm not talking about it.
19:27 It don't look nothing like the destination.
19:31 So when you put the GPS in, it says how many miles?
19:34 And I think to myself,
19:34 I should be there in about 4 hours,
19:36 but the road is not straight.
19:38 And Palm Tree Lake Highway, when you drive to Destin,
19:43 am I telling the truth?
19:44 Is some back wood, country road, redneck Terry.
19:48 I'll come on to tell the truth.
19:49 In other words,
19:50 when the first time I went,
19:52 I thought I was going the wrong way.
19:55 Because guess what? I couldn't see the ocean.
19:56 I couldn't smell the ocean.
19:58 All I'm seeing this country stars, backwoods places.
20:01 But guess what?
20:01 When I finally wrote up,
20:03 I became clear that sometimes the journey doesn't
20:07 always look like the destination and the work to somebody is.
20:12 Don't you turn.
20:13 Don't go back the way you came.
20:15 Don't take a detour.
20:17 Just keep going forward
20:21 until you get there.
20:23 Are y'all hearing the church hearing hearing the word today?
20:25 Church The second thing I want to say, great preference
20:29 is to keep from getting your faith disappointed.
20:32 Never create a timeline
20:35 for God.
20:44 If you want to see God, laugh, start making predictions
20:52 about when you going to get married
20:55 and when you go to graduate and when you won't get the house.
21:00 Then when you going start.
21:02 If you want to see God crack up on his rocking
21:06 chair, I think God laughs at 18 year olds
21:14 because you know what 18 year old do?
21:15 They'll sit down and write down a little timeline.
21:17 Won't graduate by this time.
21:19 I'm going to be married.
21:20 By this time,
21:21 I'm going to be a Fortune 500 country about this time.
21:24 And I'm going to be done with med school by this time.
21:26 And I'm going to retire by the time I'm 35.
21:28 And God is laughing
21:37 because God
21:38 shows you what will be.
21:41 But He doesn't always tell you when it's going to be.
21:46 How many of us know that the season God shows it to you
21:50 and the season you possess it are not always the same.
21:53 Season.
21:56 And see,
21:57 sometimes we get heavily frustrated
21:58 because from this angle like this, that's my problem.
22:01 Because I feel like if I see it today,
22:04 I'm ready to walk in it today.
22:07 But that's why God said to the Prophet
22:09 that the vision is yet for an
22:13 appointed time,
22:15 but in the end is going to speak and it will not lie.
22:20 And so, friends of mine,
22:21 one of the things that you've got to do
22:23 is that if you're going to be a visionary and a dreamer,
22:26 if you're going to walk in the path that God has for you,
22:28 there is a discipline you've got to develop.
22:30 It is discipline to wait.
22:34 Ooh, I can't get no amen in church right now.
22:37 Oh, man, when I say prosperity, breakthrough in harvest shout,
22:40 shout me down.
22:40 But now that I say Wait, y'all
22:42 looking at the cell phone, stay with the pastor today.
22:47 See, I need you to understand that that that waiting
22:52 it does it has a dual blessing purpose
22:56 because not only is it preparing what God has in store,
22:59 God is preparing you
23:04 to receive what He has in store for you, too.
23:08 The truth is that if God did certain things now,
23:12 you would be too immature to even recognize it as God.
23:15 You wouldn't even be ready to walk in.
23:17 You wouldn't even be ready to receive it.
23:19 You would never be ready to embrace it.
23:22 So I need you to know that just because you saw it
23:25 doesn't mean that it's the
23:26 season to have it.
23:29 So one of the things that that faith does is that faith waits.
23:32 Well, it can wait
23:37 without becoming anxious.
23:40 It can wait without tinkering.
23:44 It can wait without going
23:46 or creating a plan B are
23:47 y'all are hearing the pastor today church
23:49 that that if you ever had your faith Bruce
23:51 one of the things you got to do is you got to get out of the
23:54 timeline business and say, God, I trust that you are sovereign.
23:59 I trust that you know what is best for me.
24:00 And I lead the time
24:02 and the seasons under your care and under your purview.
24:06 You are hearing the pastor today.
24:07 Last thing, go and play some song for me is this
24:11 is that when your faith is Bruce, notice what Gideon does.
24:15 He complains about where are miracles
24:17 and where the things that God promising,
24:18 where are the things that God set?
24:20 But you know what Gideon doesn't do?
24:22 He's so busy looking at
24:24 what God isn't doing
24:28 that he didn't even evaluate
24:29 what they were doing, what they didn't realize.
24:36 What Gideon didn't realize is they heard the stories
24:39 about the miracles
24:41 and the signs and the wonders and all those things.
24:43 But I guess what somebody left out of the equation
24:46 was how God, like a loving father,
24:49 applied chastening to them in the wilderness.
24:54 You see,
24:55 you can't take the miracles of the father
24:56 without the chastening of the father.
25:00 They didn't get they didn't get that word that they had got.
25:02 Jason Then he sometimes he allowed Affliction to come,
25:07 not because he wanted to destroy or annihilate them.
25:09 But guess what?
25:10 It was the chastening
25:11 that brought them close to the heart of God again.
25:15 And let me just say to somebody today,
25:17 when you're tempted to start complaining
25:20 about God's faithfulness, you ought to spend a little time
25:23 evaluating your own.
25:27 Are you hear me today?
25:28 Church
25:29 When you're tempted to
25:30 right after this,
25:31 about what God ain't doing and why God is coming through
25:32 and when it ain't coming to pass.
25:34 No, no.
25:35 Start looking at how much time you spend praying, looking at
25:39 how much time you actually spend in the world to
25:43 start looking at how much time I got.
25:46 Like, I'm going I'm going slow.
25:47 The next time a young couple comes to me for counseling
25:50 and they told my pastor, We've got to grow this empire.
25:53 And my first question is,
25:54 have you been called a growing empire grow?
25:56 Have you been called to advance a kingdom?
25:59 Look at how much time you've invested in his kingdom,
26:04 or is your entire life caught up in building
26:07 something that is only designed to support you?
26:12 Matthew six 33/61.
26:17 The Kingdom of God and Its Righteousness.
26:20 And guess what?
26:21 The promises, all the things will be added unto you.
26:25 You are here in the word today church
26:28 and that needs you to know
26:29 that, that when you begin to consider your ways
26:32 and you begin to take stock and do some inventory
26:35 about how you're living and how you're moving,
26:38 and look at your own faithfulness,
26:40 you realize that even though the blessings you have received
26:44 are the result of the mercy
26:45 and the grace and the faithfulness of our God.
26:51 And so today, church God is raising up, even in our time,
26:56 an army of visionaries, a group of dreamers.
26:59 They're going to impact the world for his glory.
27:02 But there are some things
27:03 that God need you to understand in its entirety.
27:06 God is helping
27:07 somebody understand that your frustration is your fuel.
27:11 Sometimes it is the catalyst for change.
27:12 It is what irritates you and pushes you.
27:15 It is what puts the chip on your shoulder.
27:17 It drives you into spaces
27:18 that you will never be able to enter into.
27:20 Seasons of comfort.
27:22 God to say to somebody, if you keep on making excuses
27:25 about why you can't do it and why you won't move forward
27:27 and why it can't come to pass, guess what?
27:29 God ain't going curse the dream.
27:32 He's going to make it bountiful.
27:33 He's going to make it fruitful.
27:34 And guess what?
27:35 He's going to give it to somebody else
27:36 and you have to watch them eat it.
27:41 God is saying to somebody in this space today
27:45 that I'm calling you from the future.
27:48 And he's saying that your future is so great
27:52 and who you will become in the spirit,
27:53 who you will become in Christ is so rich
27:57 and so powerful that if your current self met
27:59 your future self, you wouldn't even be able to recognize him.
28:03 How many of us believe God's word today?
